"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Sorry going to be one more day, had something come up today and really need to hit the hay cause I have to get up super early

No worries, I'll still post tomorrow. If you post after me, I'll make a quick response so you're not waiting. :)
Sounds great!
Qia's part is all done, just waiting on @Wayward and @Silver Carrot!
I actually really like the Arifact #2 room scene... Was that Theirry in there...?

Anyways, new post is up! @Days, @WhiteAngel25, @Sporkobug I would highly suggest making a collab with Maw and the sacrifice for your next post. If you need my input to move the scene, I'm here and ready!

Secret HiveMind Facility

My apologies Mr. Galloes.

Director Von Galloes looked at the data set on the holographic display beside a tube-like device. The room he was in was completely white, save for the water-proof tiled floor. The director, presently, was dressed only in his underwear, lab coat and suit neatly hung on a rank on the other side of the tube.

Von Galloes only gave a cruel smile as he pulled up an operator's console, and inputted a long string of code. After a few moments, Allen would have received a text on his phone.

No worries, Mr. Soveria. We can look at your other projects while we discuss how we can best help you.

Before he slid the console to dismiss it, and stepped into the tube. The glass slid shut behind him, and clear liquid began filling the chamber…

Caana, North Hole

@SporkoBug

"I'm taking North!”
Jay

North, associate with white. Resplendence. Beauty. These were the elements that awaited Jay in the trial of the north hole.

She would sink serenely through the darkness until her feet touched ground, and images came into focus. The darkness was soon replaced with glossy tile floors, futuristic architecture, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a utopia city. Gone were the days of needed a gas mask; not a single smog cloud was in sight. Every rooftop had its own garden, and the sun shone through a brilliant blue sky.

In the hallway where Jay stood, she could hear the hopeful chitter chatter of voices, enthused and excited. There was the buzzing of animatronic wings, and robotic voices mixing with human ones.

Until, eventually, two scientists rounded the corner, clipboard in hand and robotic pterodactyls humming over their shoulders. One scientist beamed, her sun-kissed skin shimmering as she reached out for a handshake.

“We're so happy you could join us, Director Harringway. We have lots of new ventures we want to show you.”

Her robot companion shirred, landing gently on the scientist's shoulder. “Your vision of Mechozs.io becoming the leading frontier in preserving ancient history for the masses to enjoy couldn't have been more on point. I have statistics I downloaded this morning that I can share with you, if you would like.”

As they walked down the hall, the robot pterodactyl continued to speak in its endearing voice. “As of this morning, 2 billion people worldwide have a Mechozs.io companion in their home. Of that, 299 million Americans own one of our robots. That's over 90% of the population.”

The scientists walked up to a pair of double doors, opening it to reveal a laboratory with robots in various stages of being built, remnants of fossils being covered in titanium, and hearts of CDE pumping life through revitalized ancients.

Further in the room was a human containment tube connected to vitals and a holodesk. The scientists gestured to Jay to enter it.

“We will begin our test. Please, step into the chamber, and we will connect your mind to one of the robots. You will be able to remotely control them as if they were your own.”

As Jay watched, it would almost appear as if the scientists’ teeth glinted, sharpening in the light. And, staring at the tube barely big enough to fit her, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Something indeed was terribly, terribly wrong.

Caana, East Hole

@Days, @WhiteAngel25, @SporkoBug

"East for us, then."
Nova

"Oh! Thank heavens!”
Annalise

East, the color of red, the symbolism of sacrifice. That's what awaited the two in this endless expanse of water, broken up only by the island they rested upon.

Under the fiery color of dusk, the water all around Nova and Annalise turned blood-red, and the smell of copper and iron was in the air. An air of foreboding. They could hear drums in the distance, of tribal ritual.

There would be sacrifice.

Behind the two a stone slab on a pedestal appeared behind them. It was chest-height, with Mayan carvings. Resting on the corner of the slab was a ceremonial knife carved from bone, with a multicolored tassel hanging from its hilt.

Horrifying to behold on the stone slab, tied down with thick rope, was a figure coming to. Due to the change, or flux in the CDE in the area, the effects of hibernation on their body had begun to wane.

Alas, it was none other than Torren, otherwise known as Maw, helplessly tied to the stone slab.

As Nova and Annalise stared on, the drums echoing in the distance would crescendo, waiting, begging, for blood.

Caana, West Hole

@Lexisheeps

It looked like it was the end for Cosy. She defended against one spear, only to be attacked by another. She was quickly losing ground, and Ivaylo at her feet could only bite so many heels.

She was about to get a fateful of spear bone when, in an instant, the warriors in front her, and all around her just… disappeared. Vaporized. Incredulous, she looked around, then up, catching sight of a shadowy figure with the most beautiful wings…

“An angel?” She questioned, pulling herself to her feet.

She watched it fire off a shot straight at Buluc, and couldn't help the clear that left her mouth as it landed directly in his massive face.

”AAARGH!”

Buluc cried out, throwing a hand over his face. Cosy studied him. It. Whatever this apparition was. He seemed injured, but not down for the count…

"I want one of those. Do you want one of those? Because I want one of those.”
Nick

Despite the tense situation, Cosy allowed herself a laugh. ”Yeah, yeah I do. What even was that? I've never seen anything like that.”

A pause, then she asked, Who was that?”

Buluc raged above them, and Cosy instinctively gripped the sword in her hand. Purple liquid dripped down from above as Buluc removed his hand from his face, revealing eyes squeezed shut. Had the angel blinded him?

”Gaaah, hurry up and die already!” Buluc bellowed, shaking the foundations of the cramped room they found themselves in.

A massive hand hovered over Nick, before it came crashing down, trying to blindly smother the man. The opposite hand did the same with Cosy, and she rolled to the side, sticking her blade into the wispy flesh.

Another howl of pain.

“He's easy to dodge, dad!” Cosy said, determination in her voice. “We gotta finish him!”

Another hand swept the entire room, hoping to blindly clothesline Nick and Cosy. A hit like that would smash them into the opposing wall, if they weren't careful.

I will be posting after Twanny or Friday, whichever comes first. I will be including the time skip in my post. :)

The House on the Hill

Interactions: Sully/Sloane (@Atrophy, Drake/Britney (@Shin Ghost Note), Lynn (@NoriWasHere), Bé/Todd (@Aeolian), Clancy (@Zombiedude101)

”do be careful, Luna. It would be such a shame if we didn’t see you again at the next meeting.”
Anya

Luna just gave a ‘huh’ at the subtle slight, tossing her jacket over a shoulder. Anya could say what she wanted, it was no skin off her back.

But what made her stop, rather forcefully, was Sully.

“I thought you wanted to be back with the group and the first thing you do is insult Drake? Do you have any idea what he’s gone through? We’re all supposed to be working together, not putting each other down.”
Sully

She could see the hurt in his eyes, the indignation, the anger. Luna bit her lip where she stood. Shit. She regarded Sully as the heart of the Coven, giving life to the threads. If the heart was upset with her, then she really had messed up.

Luna recounted Drake's story. What she had picked up from her spy tours. Jade… one of the first victims of the serial killer after them. Drake carried a weight that burned and seared.

And she was too prideful. Too proud to level at him like a human being, too prepared to dig at him for his slight against her.

“If you really want to be a part of this team you’re going to go back and apologize to him for what you said.”
Sully

Luna chewed on her teeth, pressing a palm against her forehead. So she'd be doing the walk of shame back like a little bitch. How did Valencia always avoid situations like these?

“She doesn’t run her mouth.” The White Suit chimed in her head.

“Great. Helpful.” Luna's mental voice muttered sarcastically.

Luna dragged her coat off her shoulder, balling it up in her hands like some kind of stress ball, before she looked up at Sully. She didn't offer him any resistance. He was right, after all.

“Fine… Fine, Sully. I'll go apologize.”

Like a little bitch.

She took a breath to steady herself, then, did her walk of shame back, finding herself back in front of Drake.

The coat was draped back over her arm, while her free hand dragged across her mouth, before gesturing helplessly to the air.

“Shit. I got ahead of myself, Drake. I'm sorry. I'm still sore about what happened at Kari's House, but I realize you were just trying to keep people safe.

“I came to the meeting with information, and no one has chased me away, yet. I'm… just trying to be useful. That doesn't give me the right to try and lord it over you, though.”

That was when she could hear Lynn, and Luna turned her head.

“With Luna we have a strong scout who has so much to prove to us…”
Lynn

Luna sweated bit, her voice going flat. “Huh?”

“Not only will we find the Wayfinders, we have the chance at finding other powerful artifacts and those who embark on this journey will return forever stronger,”
Lynn

“I've already done one suicide mission for you, now you want me to do another?” Luna asked, incredulous. “The Pit is suicide a dozen times over, plus some.”

Before she coughed, reeling back her emotions a bit.“Yes, I mean, I'm crazy enough to do it. But this isn't some comic book story. Leon, Drake, and I- well, I hope you'll give us some really good goodbyes, because we wouldn't be coming back. Not from a trip like that.

“I'm in no position to refuse you, but… you can see why I'm hesitating, right?”

”Look, I don’t know what makes this ‘Wayfinder’ so special, but all we have to do is find a half-decent Artificer, and we make our own version of it. I know Goro's work was special, but it can't be that hard to imitate.”
Britney

“Nora, we’d like to commission a device that is capable of locating people and artifacts.
Sloane

Luna didn't allow herself a moment's reprieve. Her eyes instinctively turned to Nora, cold curiosity in her eyes. If Nora wasn't able to make it, she'd have to part with a family secret. And she'd really rather not give Valencia one more reason to be on her ass.

”I imagine the whole group is in agreement that this is more important than a really long metal stick and a…”
Sloane

Aislin threw her hands in the air, “Yep, well. I don't mind waiting.”

“...an alarmingly sinister device designed for the torture and enslavement of Appar…"

"...Layla, what the fuck…
Sloane

Layla tilted her head. It was a completely logical weapon, one that would empower her against the demons she faced on the daily. She didn't quite understand why Sloane didn't see the purpose and intent behind such a request. She muttered stubbornly, more to herself, ”B-but I need it…”

Aislin perked up at the arrival of new guests. Old guests. Not-seen-in-a-long-time guests. She gave Layla a pat on the shoulder, trying to dispel the girl's gloom over her choice of artifact, before prancing over to Bé and Todd.

“Well I'll be damned, you guys finally showed up!”

She threw them a wide, light-hearted grin, before throwing her hand out to Todd, hoping he'd shake it. Bé, she didn't bother. The man looked as aloof as usual, but she still eyed him curiously, hoping his cold facade would break.

“Come closer to the crowd, we don't bite. At least, we don't bite much.” She joked. “We're expecting another magical faction to be joining us soon, so you'll be able to make a lot of new friends today.”

She could hear footsteps outside the door, and turned her head expectantly. But what came barreling in was not what Aislin was expecting. Her expression went from warm to horrified as she watched what appeared to be a boy smash through the door.

However, as Aislin took a few horrified steps back, it was Layla that rushed in, alarmed but not repelled. Layla moved past Leon, hopping off her stool like it was a hot coal, and rushing to Clancy's side.

An apparition?

She pressed at the boy- the apparition's chest, and saw some kind of stone lodged in it. Panicking, Layla's head whipped around, locating Britney.

“Britney, you're gonna wanna come see this. He's got something stuck in his chest!”
Excellent posts! There is a little bit of collaboration needed for my next post. Once that's completed, a new post will be up. I'll keep you posted!
It's always tough to write for Pia because I have no backstory to draw from and most of what happens is stuff out of her control that she's really just been reacting to. Still, I'll try to post as soon as I can

I'm planning on having another chunk of memory dropped during the surgeries, so it should be a little easier momentarily. Looking forward to your post!

Will try to get a post up tonight.

Sounds great, looking forward to it!
Great post, @NoriWasHere! Luna certainly didn't see that coming. xD
