Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

@Lugubrious What does the Barge look like?

For your convenience I can include the information about it here for you. I'd always encourage reading posts of mine that concern the area where your character is in order to pick up on the worldbuilding!

Most impressive among these points of interest was a two-story structure with mining equipment attached to either end, almost more like a barge than a camp. It housed both black market traders and a gambling hall to those in the know, but to Omori it just looked like a miniature citadel of painted wood and rusted metal. With armed guards on patrol, he probably ought to steer clear.

The bar and weapons shop would be rooms inside. The Barge is more of a bandit hangout than an establishment under the control of a unified group, so causing a ruckus inside wouldn't aggro everyone; they'd be more likely to mind their own business. There are some armed guards around, but there are always clashes among outlaws so they'd only act defensively on behalf of their VIPs. Oh, and despite the image, it's on a rocky hillside, not in a swamp.
@Squashedquatch You did well on your opening post! I just have a couple notes, nothing too serious, just some more information on the area and Galeem's influence that I might not have communicated properly.

Dirtmouth itself is basically a ghost town, with only two actual inhabitants, and the workers and other people who do stuff around the Chasm mostly avoid its strange, alien buildings. However, basically everything you've written can be applied to the Barge, the bandit camp situated on the rocky hillside. Unlike Dirtmouth, it does have a bar, as well as a couple shops, so only the tiniest adjustment really needs to be made. You can find visuals for both areas among my recent posts.

The second thing is that when Galeem's influence is triggered, it isn't so much a berserk rage followed by amnesia, but a fully conscious twist of the subject's behavior. Once brought outside the Barge (conveniently close to where Omori, Jesse, Rubick, the Knight, Oinkie, and Maggie are, no doubt) the Adventurer will remember what happened, and even if he behaved much more violently or mercilessly than usual he won't register that anything was amiss.

Other than that, good stuff!

My bad! I misunderstood.

No worries! I'll look forward to your opening, if you have sny questions please feel free to ask!
Pardon me, but am I just going to have to make an entrance post, or will this be discussed in PMs?

Oh, sorry, since we ended up talking about your situation and everything related to your start on the OOC, I didn't think there was any need for PMs. Was there more information you wanted or needed?
@Lugubrious one last thing, may I start with a small amount of coin?

Can you repeat the three options? Or are they on the last page?

You can start with a couple hundred max. The three options are definitely visible in my latest post/s, but to simplify, they are the school town Gutsford in the Dystopiascape (not far from the metropolis Midgar), the fading town Dirtmouth (above the yawning Chasm), and the icebound Edinburgh MagicaPolis.
Yeah, that's everything. Go ahead and put him in the Characters tab then.

You're in much the same boat as Squash, have you considered where of the three options you'd like to have Benedict start?
@Lugubrious Didn't have any Kindred Spirits in mind rn so left it N/A for now. But everything is done and finished for your review. Hope it's up to spec, :D

Overall the sheet looks quite good! I can certainly appreciate the variety that a supportive tactician brings to the table. The only thing I can say is that the weakness section contains things more suited for the personality section. Weaknesses are something that's an express detriment. So you could say something like Out of Service, which means that his reflexes and stamina have decreased since he retired from the battlefield after the Saltiron War. Or One Note, which indicates that because he's a physical fighter who fights with a sword, he's stuck as a short-range fighter with only his practical skills to spice things up instead of magic, acrobatics, or other such abilities.
@Lugubrious know what's also awesome, imgur links actually work for me now I'm on Ps4 and I can copy and paste. I'm super happy I won't be posting half-finished stuff anymore. Other than last night ofc, I stayed up late to get the personality and background to my liking, used the wiki and added a bit to what it said. I can't wait to play, I resonate with Benedict's character like I did with Glenn. Plus I wanted to play a less selfish character.

Sounds great!

Got it, I'll start in Dirtmouth having just wandered in. Perhaps fighting a bandit would attract enough attention that one of your characters sees me?

Sure, he could have come over the mountains or through the entrance canyon, perhaps from Brightvale. He could encounter a couple of thugs that wheedle him for some sort of entry tax. Barring that, you could always have him encounter and accidentally set off something like a Ruin Guard, which being made of metal would be so resistant to both cutting and weak crossbow bolts that Galeem's influence would lock him into a long and unpleasant fight, obliging one of the other PCs to give him a hand.

Which place has the most activity and would be the most likely place for The Adventurer to land?

The Dystopiascape has a lot of action but Gutsford in particular is pretty safe, so the team will need to roll out for things to get interesting. Meanwhile, Dirtmouth is in a rough-and-tumble area populated by miners and bandits, above a Chasm that leads deep into a vast subterranean land. Dirtmouth seems more likely. Keep in mind though, he'll have been in the area making a living for quite a while, or wandering for a while only to end up there. The World of Light didn't just start existing today.
