The comic book world is such a rich sandbox! Perhaps none richer than the X-Men -mutations to mix, slice-of-life elements to turn into anything but ordinary -the lines are drawn but the colours exceed them ~care to embark on the eXploration with me?

"We definitely should try to maintain tight teamwork, rather than have them take us in separate face-offs again," Jaclyn chimed in as a response to sort of both Carolina and Lance. "Though I imagine that kind of fighting is over with, that only means they could also gang up on us." Chalk another mark for 'thoughts that were unsettling to think about', the first being that Magneto could be planning to do something more than simply staging fights with mutants across the world as a selection process for Genosha II.

Not to mention Pietro's comment about keeping an eye on the walls. Not blowing holes in them were one thing, but there was also the matter that Magneto could just decide to make a hole where ever he wanted, assuming a few things.

"Is there a powerset we're missing that might be particularly useful to have? To compliment even one other, or fill in some other gap?" From her conversation with Max, Jaclyn already did have an idea of a power to manifest. But if there was another that might be more useful that she could tap into, Jaclyn wasn't one to think she had the best idea that could be come up with.

And then there it was - still in the distance but now within sight. Jaclyn felt a mix of impressed and intimidated. It was something that it had been made at all. The idea behind it....not safe on Earth so just get out. It was a hard truth to hold. Mutants driven away this far....Why? Why ever? And now they, one half of the team, essentially would be infiltrating this far-off refuge. Besides self preservation, Jaclyn felt like she wanted to leave the place largely intact if that's what it was. Having no-holds-barred battles as a "ticket to paradise" was still an odd piece to fit into that, and false representation or ulterior motives weren't things exclusive to non-mutants.

These thoughts, this circumstance was tricky. Jaclyn was a problem-solver. Tricky situations weren't something she avoided -honestly she couldn't if she did try- but you needed a clear problem to go about solving it. This. This was more like an array of puzzle pieces without a full picture to fit them into, if they even all connected to the same one.

Carolina's suggestion of shutting down the jet added to the trickiness: "Can we not cloak from detection but stay on, otherwise?" Jaclyn asked, not critically but uncertain. "What if we have to maneuver away from something before it's shut down? The security I mean."

@mattmanganon Yeah, thanks man. Doing a little re-eval; the month's gotten kind of busy for me.
Not at this moment saying I'm relinquishing, just thinking it over.
Hi. : )
You ever feel like you perceive a lot more than you'll ever have the skills to articulate?

Or overwhelmed by the breadth, or depth of something that you enjoy or the field you're pursuing?
Like if you were an artist, and heard your favourite artist was going to have an exhibition filling an entire museum; so much! Yes! So much....

Like 'The Circle of Life' sums up perfectly:
"There's more to see than can ever be seen
more to do than can ever be done
...
There's far too much to take in, here
More to find than can ever be found"

Just to say, I'm not looking for "support" in the sense of "just take it a step at a time, and enjoy what you can" etc.
Looking for fellowship.

With Max's first response, painted by a chuckle, Jaclyn had that positive feeling about him, again; she liked him -companionably speaking- and in the back of her mind wondered what history it was he had with the others that seemed to colour their impression of him differently.

She missed his sigh over the engine of the jet, and took any pause of answer to be thought on how to give it, or how much he wanted to say. As it turned out, he didn't hold back. The hesitation between his summary of "the first time" and "the second time" gave Jaclyn the impression that maybe he needed to share some of this. Jaclyn's non-verbal response was a flow of interested surprise, awe, and unease, respectively from the reasons Max did this particular magic before, and the breadth of the second time.

Jaclyn had said before she felt she needed something "extra", heading into space, but this felt major; the type of thing that was intimidating to face until it was digested. "Thank you, Max," she meant it, actually bringing her hand down from the backrest of his seat to his shoulder, hoping he wouldn't take this as a brush-off, "that sounds like something maybe for another time. I think I have what I can work with for now." She retracted her hand.

As the jet gave a jolt, other things started to process through Jaclyn's mind. Focused as she'd been on talking to Max on their way here, she hadn't fully taken in where they were and what they were now on their way to: in the hanger, in the X-jet, and now, heading into space!

She had that funny feeling in her stomach you get during take-off, but felt more from butterflies. Lance's statement of "we're doing better already" provided a last fleeting bit of amusement before the full extent of what they were facing began settling in: potentially facing Nekra again, and facing Magneto himself! He had two groups of followers, apparently...her mind shifted to other, present matters. What was between Miranda and Bonnie? It could've been nice to have Guin's redesigned suits. Jaclyn sighed in a settling way; at least they had the link between the others thanks to Guin and Mary, and with word the security system was in the process of being disabled made it feel like, rather than one part of a team performing a rescue mission for the other, they were one working a problem from both sides.

She looked out the window then, and her mix of thoughts and feelings were temporarily overwritten by the spectacle of the changing atmosphere. . .What Holo would think of this... She had to smile, though that smile soon lessened. She had a lot of reasons to be doing this, being an X-man -which didn't feel quite like what she was, yet- but one of them was her sister. She hoped the course they were on was the correct one for Mutant-kind. The intent behind the display on the Mansion grounds -the reason they were up here, now- didn't feel correct; Jaclyn's confidence settled back in a small way with that thought.

Things are dialing up in Part 10 of Vol.#2! telkjplang.wixsite.com/xmenenvisionin…

What if your hands were just shackled behind you (you could change position freely besides that); could that cause any serious injury after prolonged captivity like that?

When you're a writer...

*I think I prefer a new thread than a taking over, actually.
@Master EffeX @Byrd Man @Supermaxx @udonoodles @TGM @thatguy @Stern Algorithm

So, roll call, who's happy for me to take over as GM?

If it's fine with Ersatz, and it works to do.
What sort of injuries might someone suffer if they were kept like this for extended periods of time?

In case it isn't clear, they're kneeling flat on the ground (so no suspension in that respect), but their hands are shackled behind/above their back, and a chain between them (shown below) means the body's being kept from slumping/falling any more forward by the hands/arms.

There is give to the chains, such that if the torso is raised into an upright position the arms will come down against the back.
This is from a movie and if the scene is left to play, somebody comes in and easily raises the captive into that position by holding them by the chest and back at shoulder height, and shifting their torso upright.

It's unclear if the captive could pull themselves up, though it was effortless for the other person to do so, so I'm thinking it likely they could shift positions themselves (at least ahead of fatigue setting in).
