Personality:Lorna is playful, clever, and relentless. Knock out her teeth and she'll get up, smiling with a mouth full of blood. She's incredibly driven and passionate, committing her all to whatever she does. She's loyal to her friends, but doesn't have any qualms with tricking those outside of her circle. Most people when looking at her see a classic tomboy and they aren't far off - she loves coming back to the cabin after a long day, covered from head to toe in mud and sweat. When nervous, she tends to ramble - sometimes uncontrollably so - and that's when her emotions will tend to get poured out, like emotional word-vomit. She can be somewhat quick to anger, especially when she feels like people are acting like she doesn't know something - she gets very defensive whenever the idea is tossed around that just because she's sporty, she's dumb.
Fatal Flaw: Impulsivity - Lorna is constantly jumping without looking, running without taking a break, trusting without verifying.
Habits: Hobbies: Fears:Likes:Dislikes:
Demigod Abilities:- Swordsmanship - As Hermes is the god of swordsmanship, Lorna has an innate talent when it comes to the sword. She can pick up any style of sword and handle the blade like an expert, even if it is a style she has not trained with before (i.e., she would be able to use a katana despite having only trained with a Greek sword). Unbalanced swords seem to become balanced in her hands. Cursed swords do not effect her. Tarnished, dulled, dirty blades become sharp and clean in her hands, as if well kept. Swords in her hand do not shatter or break.
- Travel - As Hermes is the god of travel and the roads, there somehow always seems to be a means of transportation when Lorna is looking for one (i.e., if she wants to take a bus, her bus is always pulling up right on time). Like how children of Poseidon have perfect bearings at sea, Lorna always knows what road she is on and what direction she is heading. If she has a destination in mind, she can always find her way there, although it may not be the fastest route.
- Athletics - Lorna is stronger, faster, etc than the average demigod, as Hermes is the god of athletics.
General Skills:Combat Skills:Magic Item(s):- Skeleton Key - Clipped onto her camp necklace, this key is the only gift that Hermes ever gave to Lorna. It can open any door, including ones sealed by magic.
What Do They Carry On Them:Possessions In Cabin:
Biography: Lorna is the only child of professional ice hockey star Maxine "Max" Meyers. Her mother was the captain of the Boston Pride when she met Hermes after a competition. The two of them dated for a year or so, until Lorna's mother got an offer to coach for the Canadian Women's National Team (ever so creatively named) and she left the United States, bringing baby Lorna with her. They moved thousands of miles to Calgary, where Lorna's mom would eventually marry one of the other assistant coaches of the team, Chuck. Chuck legally adopted Lorna when she was five years old - and is a surprisingly good stepfather, despite being estranged from his biological son.
Her childhood was filled with sports - Lorna was learning to skate almost as soon as she had learned how to walk. She played hockey, field hockey, soccer - basically any sport her parents could sign her up for, they did. She loved it - and it also helped her parents if she burned through her relentless seemingly infinite amount of energy. But while she was amazing at sports, Lorna struggled at school, eventually being diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. She was never kicked out of school, but her parents did withdraw her from a couple, always hoping that the next school would be able to support her academically better than the last one.
When she was eleven years old, a satyr located Lorna at her fourth school in seven years. Lorna had planned to confront her mother about the truth about her birth father, only for laistrygonian giants to attack her after ice hockey practice. Lorna ended up narrowly escaping with her life (and a seriously swollen black eye) and crossing the border to the US with the satyr (a sweet kid named Alex). She sent her mother postcards to let her know that she was okay along the journey, although Lorna and Alex ran into a handful of monsters along the way.
About a month after leaving Calgary, Lorna made it to Camp Half-blood with Alex. She was placed in the Hermes Cabin with the other unclaimed campers. She was claimed after an unruly game of Capture the Flag, where she knocked out some of the teeth of an Ares' camper with the butt of her sword. Since then, Lorna has been pretty content in the Hermes cabin. Her siblings are fun to be around and she loves all of the physical activities that Camp has to offer - the intellectual ones, not so much. She's secretly gotten into reading, ever since discovering that reading in Ancient Greek comes
sooooo much easier to her than reading in English. Her mother has agreed that Lorna can stay at Camp year-round, with the condition that Lorna comes to visit during any games the team is playing in the US - something which Lorna loves to go to anyways.
She also enjoys spending time with her half-brother, Luke - and has vowed that she'll kick his ass one day in a sword-fight.
How Long Have They Been At Camp Half-Blood: Two years
Birth Town: Boston, Massachusetts
Previous Living Quarters: Calgary, Alberta
Current Living Quarters: Camp Half-blood
Family:- Maxine Meyers - Mother
- Head Coach of the Canadian Women's National Team & former Captain of the Boston Pride. Max loves her daughter and misses her dearly, but respects Lorna's choice to stay at Camp Half-blood year round. She's promised Lorna that if she needs her, she's only a phone call away.
- Hermes - Father
- Lorna's mother had always described her father as a man who was good at everything, a Jack of All Trades. She neglected to mention he was a Greek god. Lorna was claimed by Hermes about a month or so after her arrival at Camp Half-blood. At first, she felt dejected to have been picked by the 'leftover' god, as all the unclaimed stayed in Cabin 11, but she quickly got over it. She doesn't have a relationship really with her father though, particularly as she is not one of his favorite children (i.e., Luke).
- Chuck McAvoy - Step-Father
- A former assistant coach for the Canadian Women's National Team and current stay-at-home dad to Lorna's little sister, Chuck is her stepfather. Chuck treats Lorna like she's his own and sends her postcards and little gifts in the mail whenever he can. His treatment of her contrasts the way he treats his estranged son David, Lorna's stepbrother.
- David McAvoy - Step-Brother (24 years old)
- David is Lorna's eldest step sibling and Chuck's eldest son. The result of a brief affair, Chuck always treated David coldly at best and cruelly and neglectfully at worst. David is not neurotypical, and much of Chuck's poor treatment of him unfortunately stems from this. As David is estranged from Chuck, Lorna has never really met him - the last she heard was that he was backpacking in Europe.
- Sandra Xavier - Step-Sister (17 years old)
- Sandra is Lorna's older step-sister, the daughter of Chuck from another love affair. Sandra's aunt has full custody of her and is currently grooming Sandra to one day take over the family's Fortune 500 company. Chuck has only met Sandra a handful of times but is constantly bragging about her, boasting to everyone about his genius, prodigy of a daughter. Lorna has never met her.
- Hermes Cabin - Half-siblings
- Anya Meyers-McAvoy - Sister (4 years old)
- Anya is Lorna's baby half sister, and the daughter of Maxine and Chuck. Lorna loves getting pictures of little Anya in the mail, yet is also simultaneously very grateful she'll never be asked to babysit. She's ready to step into the protective older sister role the minute Anya needs her.
