Hobbies

Kim's biggest hobby is building things. Everything from firearms to robots, to a simple IKEA chair. She is also a big fan of different games but has laid most of those on the shelf after starting up her shop. She basically tinkers, builds and programs most of her waking hours in the back rooms of the shop. She is also a big history buff.

Kim comes from the suburbs of Phillie. She had quite an average and uninteresting childhood. Her few moments of happiness was whenever they visited her grandparents up in the mountains. They lived in the outskirts of a small town called Red Lake. He also ran a small workshop which manufactured various items in metal.

She was always fascinated by the machinery, welding and electrical work. She could, and would stay for hours upon hours watching her grandfather work and sometimes help out as well. It did not matter what her parents said about hiking and bathing, she would remain indoors in the workshop.

This also set her upon her choice in life, to become an engineer. This was highly supported by her parents, but when she told them that she wanted to continue her grandfather's shop in Red Lake they argued against it. She did not care much of their wishes though as her mind was set in stone.

She took extra courses in business while working as much as she could while studying, building up a small fund of money. In the end, she finished her degree in engineering and since most of her work has revolved around gunsmithing, she decided that was her best course of action.

Her grandfather was more than happy to hand over the workshop since he did not use it any longer. Better be used than neglected he said as the deed was written over onto Kim. Her parents tried to convince her to work in the city instead, saying she was wasting her talent up in the mountains. This had only served to spurn her even more and she had left home soon after getting her degree.

The shop itself is quite modest looking from the outside and inside the store itself. However back in the workshop it's pretty high-tech. Kim sold most of machinery and replaced it with much newer equipment where one machine could do the work of three.

There had been a few people over, seeing what was happening in the old workshop as new signs and machinery was delivered to it. Kim herself had spent most of her time either in the workshop or on the road, securing new machinery or striking deals with different companies for sponsorship or sales.

It had taken quite a while, but finally the shop was open for business.

On her spare time she mostly works with school related things. Since she has not found someone for herself she devotes her time to work instead. She goes along with her colleges though to different pubs and clubs whenever they invite her to tag along, but she does not want a one night thing, so she always leaves alone.

Born and raised in Red Lake she went to teacher school at university and quickly signed up for a teacher position back home. She got the job and has been teaching ever since. She was quite content with this until who she thought was the love of her life.

They met during her early days of teaching and quickly fell in love. They had started living together after two years and moved to the city and Pat thought this was the person she was going to stay with forever and was going to ask for his hand in marriage when she had discovered him having an affair with another woman.

Pat had left and moved back to Red Lake where she was teaching anyway, closer distance for commuting, she told herself. It was around this time that she took up teaching at the university in the city as well. She wanted to bury herself in work to forget everything about what had happened to her.

At school though she continued to teach with passion, never showing her inner sadness to the outside world. She tries to keep in touch with her students and tries to keep a friendly relationship with them. However she never lets this get in the way of teaching, nor grading as she rules the classroom, at least to the best of her ability.

Almost year had passed since the breakup, and her birthday rapidly approaching along with it.

Quite mature and oddly grown-up for her age thanks to living her whole life with her disability, Syleste often does all she can not to be, or to be considered a "burden" to all those who are around her, the young woman doing everything she can and more to help out (cleaning, cooking, ect.), even sometimes choosing to put her own needs aside in favor of others, no matter how difficult the task may seem for her; the girl trying her best at everything and anything that she seems to set her mind to.

Coming across at times as being quietly confident and extremely calm, she sometimes tends to pull away from the company of others becoming very reserved and thoughtful, choosing instead to lose herself within her own mind and in her own little world. The Adaptable Brain
At birth, the portion of the brain that deal with vision, hearing, and all other senses are connected. As a sighted child continues to grow up, these connections begin to separate themselves from one another, until eventually independent centers in the brain control each of the different senses that a person can use. In a blind infant however, these connections might remain intact, and the job of processing sound might be shared by both the visual cortex, as well as the auditory processing centers. If a person loses his/ her sight during childhood or adulthood, the connections might have already been separated because myelin (the fatty sheath surrounding affected nerves) develops rapidly in the very young.

Neuro-Imaging
Research into blindness has found that while regions in the brain that deal with vision are smaller in blind individuals than in that of those who still have their sight, other non-visual areas are increasingly larger. Looking into the brain's potential to adapt after blindness, researchers have found that blindness causes structural changes in the brain, indicating that the brain may reorganize itself functionally in order to adapt to a loss in sensory input; the area's in the brain dealing with memory, hearing, and other senses becoming enlarged in an attempt to compensate for the fact that the person can no longer see.

Echolocation
A blind person can become quite adept at using echolocation (identifying an object by the sound or echo that it makes) while moving through the world around him/ her. Children or babies that are born blind use extra hand movements as they crawl, slapping the floor around them to create a kind of auditory and sensory feedback. The use of reflected sound by blind children helps them to explore and manipulate aspects of the sound world, other visually impaired individuals may make clicking noises to note the changes in sound as the distance between them and different obstacles shift; this can also be seen in animals such as dolphins and bats.

Using Touch To Explore The World
The largest area of the brain's surface is devoted to the hand and the sense of touch, the skin being the largest organ of the body allows us to use this sense to the fullest, and the blind child is a "sensation" of information. Many blind individuals can feel changes in temperature as they near a window, wall, and other objects, relying on their enhanced sense of touch to help them explore the world around them.

A Deeper Vision
Before the invention of non-invasive neuro-imaging, people could only speculate and look on in awe at the increased abilities that those who were blind seemed to posses. The well-known painter, Pablo Picasso explored the nature of blindness during his "Blue Period", some claiming that he was able to find an intensity of other senses in his depiction of the blind. Researchers state that what you lose in one place, you gain elsewhere, reinforcing the idea that other senses are not only affected but also enhanced by blindness.

Brief Biography:
Born as the first child to her parents, Seraphina was quickly pulled into, and raised with respect for the traditions surrounding not only the human world, but also the angel part of her heritage; the young girl both loved and cherished within her families home. Knowing full well that the they were closing in on him and his family, Seraphina's father gathered up both of his daughters and tried to flee Oxfordshire with his family, hoping beyond anything to at least hide long enough in the bustling city of London until the time came when the threat was subdued; however, unable to get away from the towns boarder quickly enough, the group of supernatural beings attacked, and in their attempt to stop their daughters from being taken, Seraphina and her younger sister Jayne watched on in horror as their parents were struck down in front of their eyes. Not wanting their sacrifice to be in vein, and forced to leave the corpses of their parents back in their homeland; Seraphina quickly gathered her little sister up in her arms and took to the skies, doing everything she possibly could to get them as far away as she could from the danger.

Refusing to be separated from her six year old little sister after everything that they had just been through, Seraphina took on several jobs, gathering the money that the both of them needed to move away from the UK and across the sea to the USA where she then took the place of her mother, and began to after and raise Jayne in the way that their parents raised her. Five years later, and now comfortably living in Red Lake (and travelling back and forth for her acting jobs in movies and on TV), Seraphina does all that she can to deal with the obstacles that life seems intent on throwing her way; the young woman determined to do all that she can to make sure that her sister's life never has to see anymore heartache and pain than it already has.

The brother’s past is relatively sad. They were originally from California, but after a terrible car wreck left them in the hands of foster care at a young age (both were 7). They stayed there for a year until their soon ‘new parents’ would adopt them because they were ‘cute’. Both brothers figured out that the only time their adoptive parents really cared about them were showing them off, any other time they could care less. This caused for the twins to become far more independent with a tendency to be dependent on each other’s presence. This has lead for the two to have a really tight bond, which is equally good and bad.
Aron himself figured out that he was gay when he was 13. Finding that his brother was trying to get him with girls and being far more interested in boys. He tried hiding it, but his brother figured it out rather easily and upon agreement Gage decided not to tell anyone else until Aron is ready. Which may not be for a while since his adoptive parents are really homophobic, so he does not want to deal with that conflict.
The only thing he thinks his brother does not know is a relationship he had. Aron dated at 14, thinking that this guy was meant to be with him. It did not end well, so even though he is very trusting and sweet he has been hurt before.

Gage is polar opposite to his brother. Where Aron is sweet, Gage is a jerk. His sarcasm can bite through steel and he can’t seem to help himself when an opportunity to be sarcastic arises. If anything, Gage manages to somehow get into more trouble then Gage.
That being said, he is loyal to those whom he cares for. Willing to beat up any who try to hurt them. If he could, he would do something about his adopted parents, but that is generally frowned upon in polite society.
To his friends, he is a good one. Someone willing to have their back at any point. However, the moment you break his trust that is the moment you lose him as a friend. He simply does not take that lightly.

Any exercise from boxing to parkour with his brother. He loves to compete with Aron and enjoys teaming up with his brother to compete with anyone willing. Often, he will take up any challenge along with his brother. Another hobby is trying to convince his brother to take his math class for him. That is a full time thing.
Both brothers are fast runners and really should be on the track team.

The brother’s past is relatively sad. They were originally from California, but after a terrible car wreck left them in the hands of foster care at a young age (both were 7). They stayed there for a year until their soon ‘new parents’ would adopt them because they were ‘cute’. Both brothers figured out that the only time their adoptive parents really cared about them were showing them off, any other time they could care less. This caused for the twins to become far more independent with a tendency to be dependent on each other’s presence. This has lead for the two to have a really tight bond, which is equally good and bad.
Gage found himself becoming more defensive and less friendly then his brother after the accident. Deciding not letting anyone too close is the way to protect both himself and his brother.
When Gage found out Aron was gay, he did not really know how to react. Being 13, he did not really know how to. However, he got over it quickly and figure his brother is still the same guy and nothing would change that.
Gage did know about the secret relationship, but figured Aron would want to try to deal with it on his own. Seeing his brother hurt made him want to really bruise up the guy….and his secret is that he did.

Riley's mother was a native to Red Lake, she grew up living in the town until finishing college where she met her future husband Seth in college, her mother went for nursing while her father went into business. Shortly after they graduated from college Riley's mother Sarah found out that she was pregnant with her first child Riley. Riley's mother suggested moving back into the small town that she grew up, which Seth had agreed to. A few months later Riley was born, her father then decided to turn their house into a bed and breakfast eventually naming it after their daughter, which Riley now hates but knows that her father likes it. Growing up she was best friends with Vanessa though she was younger then her they two were inseparable.

As Riley started getting older she and her family would always go out to the lake and spend a few days there, until her father and mother started becoming to busy due to Riley's mother becoming pregnant with her second child. She decided to then take it upon herself to keep going to the lake, inviting her friends and anyone who wanted to go which has become an annual thing among Riley's friends. Riley after her seventeenth birthday her father bought her a dirt bike when she enjoys a lot and uses it any chance that she can get.

Red Lake Pennsylvania a small mountain town of 2,145 people best known for it's very beautiful view of the mountains from downtown as well as for its hiking trails however it is best known for it's lake the town is name after as well as it's fishing. At the center of town is the mayor's office as well as the very small police station and a few general stores and two restaurants and for those who are just traveling through there is a motel and bed and breakfast as well as an elementary school and a high school.

You were born in this small town or moved in sometime ago. Growing up in it there is nothing much to do having a tight knit group of friends you hangout with your friends. Every summer you and your friends would always rent out a camper and some camping equipment and head up to the lake where you would spend a few days there just having fun and swimming, telling stories. Now in high school, one of your friends had already planned their annual trip. On the day of the trip the group of friends head to their camping spot, one of your friends brings along with them some alcohol. Once they have all settled down and nightfall comes the friends start to all party and have fun some drink while some don't.

Little do they know that they have been stalked the whole time by a feral werewolf, at one point during the night the while the party had settled down the werewolf would quickly attack, attacking each one of the teens at the camp until one of them manages to scare it off thinking that it was just a regular wolf. Thinking that there were more of them the group decides to cut their trip short, after a few days since their trip they all have gone back to their homes some start to notice some changes. A few days later one of your friends mysteriously is killed.

• Recently turned werewolves will not be able to transform without the assistance of the full moon. However once they do master it they will be able to turn at will, but on the full moon they will turn no matter what. To master the transformation, they have to come to terms and fully accept the beast inside - though this doesn't automatically imply they lose their humanity. Some do, however, when they let the beast take control (feral werewolves).

• Werewolves in human form have enhanced (above human levels) strength, hearing, scent, sight, as well as healing and tend to act slightly more aggressive then they usually would've before the infliction.

• The healing is a lot quicker, however the wolves will die from a lot of trauma. They will survive in a car crash, but if shot many times, they will succumb to wounds. Also if their limbs were to be cut off, they will not grow back.

• Wolfsbane will make a wolf much weaker in the presences of its smell, if ingested they will become very sick but it will not kill.

• Silver will kill a werewolf if it were to come in contact with a vital organ resulting in death. If hit in a none vital area healing will be much slower.

• Once a werewolf dies in their wolf form they will turn back to their human form.

• When in a fight, their eyes generally take on a sharp yellow color.

• Newly turned werewolves are called pups by older more experienced werewolves.

• Newly turned werewolves during their first transformation will have no control over what they do and first transformations are extremely painful.

• Werewolf aside from their normal human scent which they still will have will be mixed with a wet dog like smell. Humans wont smell this but other supernaturals will.

• Newly turned werewolves may change against their will under extreme stress, or if angered.
