Power Rangers - Legacy of the Dragon

The year was 2030. Over three decades had passed since the Power Rangers had to protect the city of Angel Grove. Most of them had moved on with their lives. Tommy Oliver had earned a doctorate in paleontology, and in 2004 had a hand in the creation of the Dino Thunder Power Rangers in Reefside, California. He tried getting married, but always let the life of being a Ranger interfere. He moved back to Angel Grove years ago, and bought the land where Zordon’s old command chamber used to be located. He still had technology and artifacts from his time as different Rangers over the years, and it was kept in an underground bunker beneath his home. Dr. Oliver had got another teaching job as a science teacher, this time at Angel Grove High. To his surprise, Billy Cranston had also recently moved back to the area and was also teaching at the school.

Everything seemed to be going well, until it wasn’t. Someone or something had broken into the bunker of Tommy Oliver and swiped many of the items being stored there. Within weeks, it was clear that some alien or madman had started creating monsters. Oliver and Cranston used the remaining tech and their connection to the Morphin Grid to create another team of Power Rangers to protect Angel Grove and the rest of the world. Within weeks a portion of the city was decimated, but then the Dragon Force Rangers hit the scene.

The two elder Rangers were both pushing sixty and too old to do any fighting themselves so they did the best they could with what they had. The Dragon Morphers were somewhat mystical and technological in nature and sought out the students who would wield them. They would become the Red Dragon Ranger, the White Dragon Ranger, the Green Dragon Ranger, and the Black Dragon Ranger. Using designs from the Red Dragon Thunderzord as well as tech from the Dragonzord of the Green Ranger, four serpentine Dragonzords were built each with a secondary humanoid fighting mode.

Who were the enemies causing chaos and creating hybrid monstrosities? An older Scorpina as well as the now adult King Sprocket of the Machine Empire, in possession of the staff of Rita Repulsa and the stolen tech of Tommy Oliver!

Episode List

Ep. 1 – Power of the Dragon – When evil rises in Angel Grove in the year 2030, former Power Rangers turned high school teachers Tommy Oliver and Billy Cranston create a new team of Rangers. Go Go Dragon Force!

Villain – Scorpina and Putties

Ep. 2 – Machine Empowered – When Scorpina enlists the aid of the newest King of the Machine Empire, the Dragon Force Rangers must come together to defeat their common enemy. Enter the monster machines!

Villain – Cyber Sphynx

Ep. 3 – Training Dragonzords – The Rangers take time to train with their Dragon Daggers, and unlock the power of their Dragonzords. These aren’t your average Zords however; they’re connected to the Rangers’ Morphers and the Rangers themselves.

Villain – The Thief (cameo)

Ep. 4 – Ranger Danger – When the Dragon Force is on the ropes against the Thief, a mysterious hero on a motorcycle appears. Who or what is a Masked Rider? When the defeated villain goes back to his employers, they don't seem too happy with him.

Villain – The Thief and Cyber Putties

Ep. 5 – Eye See You – When King Sprocket creates cybernetic eye drones to spy on the citizens of Angel Grove, Scorpina bonds them to a putty to recreate Eye Guy. When the Dragon Force has the battle won, Scorpina unlocks the ‘make my monster grow’ power.

Villain – Cyber Eye Guy

Ep. 6 – The Last Trooper – When the team discovers a 90’s hero trapped in a videogame at the Cross World City Mall, they do what they can to rescue him. How long has he been trapped? And what exactly is a VR Trooper?

I wanted to try and get this OOC going at least before the weekend was over. All of the Rangers can go ahead and repost your characters in the Character Tab. As far as the episodes go, some of them may be subject to change when I hear back from @Double about what we’re gonna do with the badguys. The idea is to make this more like the Power Rangers comics rather than the campier television show; it just takes a committed cast. I’m super psyched for this.

🔴Skills – Gabe is a skilled brawler but has no proper training. He’s good with tools, tries and mostly fails to work on cars, and struggles to care about school. Having been in trouble more frequently in recent years he’s become quite the escape artist having escaped the authorities on multiple occasions and running from juvenile detention centers in Stone Canyon.

🐲Background/Brief Bio –

Gabe is the son of a successful Spanish doctor and surgeon, and his mother is more of a spiritual hippy type always talking about being one with the universe. He was the second child coming in three years after his older sister, who Gabe lost in an automobile accident years earlier when they stole their parents’ car for a joyride. It completely broke their mother and she quit her job and began studying spirituality and different types of meditation and religious practices to cope. The father focused on his job and grew distant from his wife and son, and the survivor’s guilt that Gabe carried turned him into a reckless douchebag. The troubled teen became addicted to the adrenaline rush he got from getting into fights, bucking authority, and stealing cars. After his last stint in juvenile detention in Stone Canyon, he was told by the counselors if he makes one more mistake he’ll go to trial as an adult and serve actual jail time.

It was Dr. Oliver connecting with the young man that really changed his outlook. The former Ranger saw something in the kid that reminded him of himself at a younger age. In time, Gabe will deal with his demons with the help of his new friends and teammates.

🔴Villain of Choice – DEADWOOD: I’m a sucker for anything with plant powers… plus this guy can phase through stuff like a ghost. How badass is that?!? Slab some cybernetic implants on him and let’s reuse this guy ASAP…


🐲Notes – Just to be clear, I never meant for anyone to really be a team leader or over anyone else in the context of the story. We’re all on the same team, but we’re not as close knit and nowhere close to a unit.

🐲Sample Post –

Gabriel didn’t wear the nice clothes his parents provided for him. Looking like a model in a clothing advertisement wasn’t in his wheelhouse. The ripped and dirtied jeans and t shirts he wore on weekends were much more comfortable and matched the minor cuts and bruises he sported. And his grandfather’s red flannel jacket was always near him. He looked like he belonged in a garage; he just didn’t have the smarts to do it full time. And the young man was too stubborn to let anyone teach him. He insisted on doing everything on his own, not trying to be the privileged douche that people expected him to be. Gabe was most definitely a delinquent; he just kept to himself was all. He didn’t care for the Angel Grove High School football team or the cheerleaders who loved his hair.

“Can I run my fingers through your hair, Gabriel? Just once?” a young girl asked wearing an Angel Grove High cheerleading uniform at the desk behind Gabe.

“No.” he said very bluntly.

He had just got back from a three month stint in juvenile detention in Stone Canyon for joy riding in a stolen golf cart. Gabriel came into the school year late, winter was fast approaching, and the last time somebody had their hand in his hair was in a pretty intense fight in the cafeteria at the detention center. Around this many people his own age he was on edge. There was always somebody gunning for him in the detention centers because they thought there was something to gain in bullying the son of a successful doctor. Originally he had only been sentenced to a month at juvie and twenty-five hours of community service, but after multiple fights it was extended to three months and some change. This was the last class of the day. He couldn’t even be bothered to remember the girl’s name behind him. She and Gabriel had went to school together and had classes together for the last several years, her name was Beth. Her on-again off-again boyfriend Timothy was two rows of desks to the left of them didn’t seem amused.

“Pleeeeeease.” She insisted.

“You don’t wanna touch his hair, babe. He’s probably got fleas!” Timothy joked.

Just before the bell rang she went for it. Gabriel heard her talking under her breath and grabbed her hand as he quickly turned.

“Don’t. Touch. Me.” Gabe said getting loud.

“Gabriel’s getting handsy with cheerleaders, Mr. Cranston!” Timothy yelled, knowing it was a lie.

“Mister Vasquez…” the older Billy Cranston began to say before Gabe released the girl’s hand.

The bell rang, and Gabe grabbed his red flannel jacket and backpack and was the first student out the door. He was so quick to get out as fast as he could that he walked directly into Dr. Oliver and dropped his backpack.

“Where’s the fire?” Oliver asked as the kid picked up his things and hurried off.

Sister Shadow, another student who seemed to fade into the background of the larger group, approached Arsenal and the digitizer next. She essentially made herself shadows from the waist down and moved on a black ink or smoke like darkness beneath her. After she stepped out another female with a Czech accent, Gravitas, came forward. It seemed as if Shattercrash and Shuriken were finishing up and Alex stepped up to Arsenal as most of the others had already got suits made. Even the blonde kid that floats everywhere who picked the alias Warlock…

“Can I go next?” Alex asked again as another face at the academy that also sported a worn superhero suit came forward.

“I’ll fight him.” said the time lost hero Legion, stepping up to the front.

Arsenal grinned and liked seeing enthusiasm among the group. These two and the speedster came in with decently made super-suits that just needed upgrades. Roy could remember the guy in green, yellow, and black… he was some sort of time displaced hero from the 40’s. With the Justice Society trying and failing to rise up again in the superhero community, Titans Academy was his next best bet. The kid in the white hood though, Arsenal remembered the power set but the name just wasn’t coming to him.

“What was your alias again, bro?” he asked Alex.

“The Shield.” Alex replied proudly.

“Yeah… pretty sure the Red Circle Comics group would sue you into oblivion for that one. Gonna have to workshop something later.” Roy stated bursting the kids bubble. “You were the guy from the 40’s right?” he then asked turning to Legion before being interrupted by Switchblade.

Switchblade had eyes all over the place. Between Oracle, Flamebird, Gravitas, and Sister Shadow he didn’t know which one he wanted to try and impress. Most of the other students were talking amongst themselves about their new suits and what they wanted to try in the War Room, so Randall took his shot. He wanted to be the one to best Alex, as they grew up together in Midway and went to some of the same schools. He’d be damned if this guy who smelled like old people and polyester was going to get one over on him.

“I wanted to go against Alex in the War Room. Everybody thinks he’s team leader material… but I’M the guy who almost took down Polaris!” Switchblade got loud, making his case.

“You got lucky and speared him through the shoulder, I’ll give you that. Let’s make it interesting… we’ll put the three of you in the War Room...” Arsenal began to say before turning to the rest of the group, “...unless anybody else wants in on this one?! Who’s tired of standing around?”

"You didn't even get lucky, Randall. You're reckless and you're gonna get somebody hurt." Alex talked smack in the most polite of ways.

"The scenery's gonna be fake, but the beating I'm gonna give ya is gonna be real." Switchblade responded with a smirk looking over his shoulder to see if any of the girls were paying attention.

"This isn't Mortal Kombat, none of the objectives include hospitalizing your teammates. You want to see how tough you are work up the villain roster in the holo-droid settings. If you can beat level 8 metahumans and super criminals then I'll give you access to levels 9 and 10." Arsenal explained to try and deescalate the situation brewing.

"This isn't the 6th grade, he wants to scrap we can scrap. Back then my mom would've whipped me and grounded me for three weeks for getting into a fight at school. Guy's always been kind of a creep towards girls, and he's just generally a douchebag..." Alex thought before stepping into the digitizer and getting a new suit without a hood, or sleeves for that matter.

"That's an upgrade, I like that you went..." Arsenal began to comment before Switchblade shoulder checked Alex on his way into the digitizer.

"Douchebag isn't the right word..." Alex thought.

After a few moments Switchblade stepped out basically looking like a character from Mortal Kombat. Complete with the ninja-like mask.

"The digitizer is ready when you are, soldier." Arsenal said looking over to Legion before turning to the rest of the Academy students. "If anybody else wants in on the simulation, speak now or forever wait in line!"

@Eviledd1984This is an original universe using the older Tommy Oliver and Billy Cranston as mentors. Right now they only spot we need filled is a female Ranger, the only color option is green...

@Double I'm not as familiar with the Sentai stuff other than some bare basics, so if you're game throw a couple villain CS's up and shoot them to me in a PM. I'm getting super excited just thinking about this lol.

Also, totally give me suggestions for minions to face, cause all I know are things from the Zordon era.

@Double I'm kinda shocked, but if anybody was gonna play villains in a Toku based RP and do it well I'd imagine you'd be at the top of the list. My original plan was for the other Red Dragon Ranger to be evil, and I even micro'ed a concept look for him. The thing with Scorpina and the former prince of the Machine Empire becoming king was just me trying to tie some of the history together from what I could remember.
