Another Merik
Merik Roak

The forest was quiet and calm, most of the animals however were on edge. The fight that was to come set a gloomy mood to the trees and the earth. The deer he was feasting on was already weary and on edge when he ambushed it. Other than a few wild dog tracks in the area Merik had not found any track or scent of the Orcish and goblin hordes he knew lingered nearby. Blood would be spilled this day the reptile could feel it in his scales, in his muscles, and in his bones.

Even with this feeling Merik enjoyed his time out in the forest. His instincts could run wild and he could feel at peace. The loud boom and thunder that echoed through the forest caught both himself and his horse off guard. It took some time for his warhorse to attune to him but it still wasn’t used to the dwarves thunder sticks and thunder tubes. A sigh escaped the large Lizardfolk while he watched his horse run off into the forest. At the very least he knew it would run back to the camp. “Prince Leo be upset Merik lost nother horse.” He spoke to himself for a moment then looked around.

Merik knew which way the camp was and the way to the city, without a horse he will just have to join up with the infantry again. “Ruduf will be happy that big friend help.” Again Merik spoke to himself and stood up leaving the rest of the deer for the wild dogs he knew were lurking nearby. With a huff he headed out toward the camp at a fast pace, he could double his speed while running on all fours. Almost leaping more than running.

The voice of the infantry leader and the scent of man soon grew stronger and stronger. He was sure they could hear the racket and noise he was making as he moved toward them. Loud heavy foot falls and snapping of branches and toppling of small trees. Bursting from the foliage the behemoth skidded to a stop and slowly stood before the men. Some he recognized others he did not, his muscular tail was moving side to side and he smiled at his smaller human friend. “Merik find you Ruduf, (Pronounces it as Roo Doof.) Merik lose horse again, so Merik go with you.” He gave the man a toothy grin and waited for him to keep going for him to follow.

@Borosev
@Fetzen i hope you dont mind i added your character as a rival but like a friendly rival. Merik sees your character as a older brother almost, some one to try and one up while also learning from them lol.
this looks fun, might take me a bit to get a character up though.
Grikgar /Grik/ Seeker

// Unggoy Ultra // Demolitions and Artillery // Location: Court yard LZ

The fire fight was going well for what the Unggoy was used to. Having the support of Spartans and Sangheili was a sight to behold but one he would have to dwell on later. A bright color of covenant shielding caught his eye for a moment. A couple humans were using shields normally for Kig-Yar, obviously the brutes had some stashed away and had given them to them. The Oni humans could use those and so could he if he was able to grab a couple. Another plasma grenade toward them knocked out the shields, indicating the user was dead.

Another Spartan called out for ordinance while the enemy heavy weapons team reloaded. The rocket would be a problem for all of them especially the bigger targets like Tasuma. Using the cover of the sand storm Grik rushed to cover facing the advancing opponents. His energy shield flared for a moment with a few plasma bolts hitting him as he moved. Getting to cover the Unggoy hit the wall and immediately pulled the Sentinel power source from his belt. Sticking a plasma grenade to it and throwing it at the cover they were using.

Honestly Grik gar wasn’t sure what would happen, he had only seen it happen once by accident. An explosion set the last one off. A barrel exploded and detonated it at the dismay of the Huragok that had repaired the two power sources. The resulting secondary explosion created a singularity for about 3 seconds that pulled everything toward it then violently expelled what was pulled in. it also seemed to rile up the sentinels that where left in the area as well.

If it didn’t work and all it did was just the plasma grenade Grik was ready to follow it up with the fuel rod gun. “Tasuma.” Grikgar called out over his comm, “major enemy cluster bearing 200 Degrees from insertion point. Enemy has heavy weapons watch yourself.” He was waiting for the explosion to go off before he would proceeded with the assault.
Victor Astorio

The count found that his seat was set back just a bit farther than the others, clearly Varis didn’t want to include him on this. It was fair, Victor had been trying to play the role of a wild card in these situations. Always trying to be unpredictable to the other nobles was a fun little game he enjoyed playing even if he was the only one playing. From subtle differences in the tone of his voice to giving a false tick to when he was nervous or his emotions where boiling up under his stoic façade by slowly rubbing his thumb against his index and middle fingers. Everything was a game to them when it came to these parties. Victor was not very well versed in these things of subtle insults and shifts of one’s perception but he knew that Varis was. The others he was not too sure of.

The mages spectacles where interesting to at least pass the time. Lillie’s song was quite fitting for her, he had heard the song before somewhere but didn’t quite care for it. She did certainly look good her muscle tone had definitely improved from when she first started training. The newer girl that replaced Casandra did quite well with her display of fire. Victor could only give out a light sigh thinking about how it would have been if Casandra was the one doing it. If the countess had done that on purpose then it was fitting. Max’s art sculpture was interesting but a bit boring for him. All it did was make him wonder if Eris was going to waste the boy’s talent and make him an artist instead of a combatant.

Once it was finally Salem’s turn to impress the crowd Victor honestly just sort of zoned out thinking about the phone call. It wasn’t until he was done that he realized what the boy had drawn. Eris seemed pleased with the representation of his portrait but the Astorio could only shoot his mage a subtle glare. The last thing he wanted was to engage in any conversation with Eris again. Then lastly the golden boy played his piece. It honestly wasn’t that bad it just made Victor zone out again thinking of the painting behind him and what lord Perion would do to whoever painted it. Painting the lord was one thing but getting it wrong was on a whole nother level.

The mages finished their performances and scurried away to where ever it was they were hiding. Blood from the first mage Lillie was poured and passed out. Smelling it was nice and a little comforting definitely not what Salem’s was going to taste like. Fear and adrenaline, it tastes akin to what one would describe as an energy drink just before a fight would taste like. It’s not that the blood Salem had given was going to taste bad, it’s just that the blood was collected after one of their private sparring matches where the count used several punches that landed near the boy that could have killed him. Victor had to apologize after but wasn’t too sure if his mage had gotten over the ordeal or not. Perhaps it was why he drew the picture of Eris and gave it to Varis. If that was so the boy would pay dearly for this betrayal.

Then came the fighting, a long drawn out fight of words that he did not care for. He opted to stay quiet and observe the others. Crossing his left leg over his right and letting his hands rest in his lap simply holding the glass of blood and occasionally sipping the contents. His index finger tapping slightly on the glass while they spoke. A slight nod at his introduction, another small slight hidden in Varis’s words one that he was not going to correct as he had already introduced himself to the Eve. The topic continued to move onto Lillie and her song choice first then onto something he thought was obvious to the others but by their change of tone and slight facial expressions that it was a surprise. Perhaps the other’s where not as perceptive to the little things as he was.

“A broken bottle already tells you where it will crack and fall apart. Some may want the glass to break a certain way to make a better weapon.” He spoke with his usual deep voice matching his stoic expressions. A prod to see how the actor would react. “I find that I have to agree with Varis and Eris on the topic of style.” A short pause to swirl his glass, “However, audience is everything. If your target audience is us younger vampires who’s sense of style is blending in for the mage and standing out for the vampire. Having an Albino mage would do the opposite of this.” Taking a sip of the blood he continued, “But if your target audience is let’s say, the older vampires? The elders who are older and have just as much power as our current leaders of our respective houses? Well then that would be a different story. As they have been around long enough to see it all, things that are rare and stand out could be much more interesting to them.”

Victor ended his insight on the topic with taking another swig of his glass. Glancing over to the picture of lord Perion again with a smirk and a quiet laugh. Imagining how the Lord would go after Varis for the picture. The image was quiet amusing.

Grikgar continued to survey the base from where they were. He was aware that he wouldn’t have to be quiet forever and need to memorize what he could about the topside layout. Entrances, exits, weapon caches, crates that could be explosive, crates that are explosive, weapon emplacements, weak areas of the walls and fortifications, and the best path to the central structure. He was knowledgeable on the basic layout of most Forerunner buildings but nothing was ever the exact same with them.

The others seemed set on a stealth approach to start and make an opening for a drop ship. A simple and solid plan something the Unggoy has come to expect about the humans. He was a bit to clunky for what they wanted to do so Grikgar decided to stay back and observe, he was still unsure of just how cooperative all of them would be together and Ben didn’t seem to mind him.

It didn’t take to long for them to be given the signal slip space rifts and the fleet emerging seemed to make everyone stop what they were doing and stop. The Brutes on the ground were the first to roar. A sound that was quickly muted by a MAC round being fired in atmosphere. The human’s definitely where not pulling any punches, all he did was smile. Seeing the brute ship catch fire and split in two was always a glorious sight, the resulting dust storm from the MAC round hitting the ground followed by the ship would be very good at causing more frustration. However, Grikgar could only wonder at the sentinel response if they thought the ships were being hostile towards the instillation.

The comms came alive again this time from a drop ship coming to pick them up. The Unggoy did not waste any time to get in the ship first. Not out of cowardice, but the excitement of being the first one in the base and the fire fight to come. He knew he didn’t have to be silent anymore. The explosive expert was very excited now, it had been too long since he had been in a hot drop.

And a hot drop it was, small arms fire covered the drop point. Lead and plasma filled the dark and dusty air. Just like he wanted Grikgar was the first out of the phantom, his hands glowing blue by the time he hit the deck with activated plasma grenades. Both were aimed at separate choke points where enemy fire was coming from. Hot plasma rippled from those areas while Grikgar quickly made it to cover and began opening up with his dual plasma pistols into enemy positions.
Ardur The Mighty Hipixie
Tactical Retreat > Let there be light /// Adventuring day 5 // Night / Location - Hopeful moving toward the exit

Seeing the stone fly off and hit its mark was very satisfying. That dammed zombie had been a pain in the butt since we got here. Perhaps it was a mini boss or some kind of elite but at the very least he got a few skills out of it. Maybe once they were finally free from this place they could relax and train these skills properly but now was not the time. Now they had a choice, retreat or fight.

Steve had been doing very well at keeping the undead at bay and had created a very large pile at this point. It was almost akin to the stories of the piles of dead bodies during the civil war. Mother slime seemed to be leading the others out toward the entrance with Asura helping Trent get out of the way. If he kept throwing these stones he could keep the weaker ones from advancing with the pile of undead at the choke point growing larger. Ardur was not sure how much longer Steve could keep going or how long the undead would be held down by her.

A sudden memory crept back into his mind with one of the first things he remembered destroying with Steve. That wisp burned far longer than it should have when it was lit up with the combination of fire and web. Looking to the growing pile all he could imagine was a bonfire. With a smile the high pixie moved quickly to the torch that Trent had dropped when they first began their assault. It was easy to tell that it was still burning as it was their major light source for the fight.

Ardur gripped the torch with his dominant right arm pointing the flame forward and used Throw Item I with Point Strike I to hit the pile of squirming bodies with the torch. just as he saw the zombie throw his javelins Ardur threw one of his own at a much bigger target. At the very least it would give them some time.

Victor Astorio

An annoying night for sure, troublesome enough that Varis had to put on something like this on. Victor knew there was a play here somewhere but he was unsure as to how the count would spin it. He didn’t think he would be able to pick up on the Sinnondel’s plans right away if at all. After all, the man was smart and had his contacts so gaining information wouldn’t be hard for him. Gaining favor with his most recent actions however, might be his play. This and other things where encapsulating the large vampires mind while he finished getting dressed.

A black military style jacket with a plate mail pauldron on his left shoulder. Polished black metal sheets adorned with silver in lays layered over each other, a bronze colored chain attached near his left arm pit reached across his chest and over his right shoulder. He was not wearing a tie with his jacket buttoned up toward his neck. That combined with his black pants and neatly short cut hair would be fitting at most Astorio parties. A look that combined elegance with the reminder of power from wars long past. A dated look for sure but it was not one that he has shown off during his stay here so far. The last accent to his look was plain white gloves.

The count was just about to call out to his mage to see how he was doing on his look so far when the quiet beep of his cell phone going off caught his attention. The number glowing on the screen might as well have been burned there as he picked it up and looked at it. The count let it ring while he starred at it for a few more minutes before answering it. He didn’t say much as the voice on the other end spoke, all he did was grit his teeth and grip the phone tighter. “understood.” It was all he had to say to whomever was on the other end before he crushed the phone in his hand.

His mood had changed now, he knew this as he looked at the crushed object in his hand. This was going to be a long night, he was sure of it.

Exiting his room he was surprised to see Salem almost ready to go. “You get to carry it. Now before we head over remember what I said, keep your wits and your tongue about you. They are your friends but there is a reason for him to call all of us there, be sure to let me know if you pick up on anything odd after we get back.” His voice was annoyed but not at Salem. Victor placed the crushed phone on the table, “if you could get another phone up and running when we get back it will be appreciated.” Salem was always better at the newer tech then he was. Replacing a lost or broken phone was a once or twice a week chore for the boy. “Now let’s go.”

Once over at the dorm Victor seemed distant almost like he wasn’t really there. It was definitely something he didn’t do often. It was almost like he wasn’t even paying attention to the displays that the mages put on or the other vampires there. Lost in his own little world, the annoyed look on his face never seemed to slip away.
