Always the gentleman, Maeve grinned as Alexander placed a kiss on her hand. While she’d never been much for “proper” etiquette, she most definitely could appreciate it still. Most men in modern times had lost much of their gentlemanly ways, becoming what some from centuries ago would consider vulgar and rude. While this could result in fun, it was still refreshing to Maeve to see older ways being upheld. ”Well when it involves your art I will always make an appearance, darling, as I must say your art is one of my favorites.” She gave him a playful grin, but then sighed. ”Of course I am saddened if this is to be your last, yet I’m excited to see what hobby you decide to pick up next. Poetry perhaps?” She suggested before taking a sip of her wine. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed an extravagantly dressed red haired woman stuffing cheese into her purse. What a curious thing. She would surely have to make her acquaintance later.

She turned her full attention back to Alexander. ”I am an open book, inquire away. Who is this woman? A lost lover perhaps?” The last bit she added teasingly with a smirk

The dances were beginning and Kenia felt a sudden nervousness come over her, not for herself and her dances, but for the fact that the three of them were most likely going to be split up for a short while. While there was sure to be more rebels in this crowd, there were also going to be enemies. She only hoped the three of them had the ability to discern between ally and foe. She watched as Corvina left and managed a quick ”Be careful.” Kenia would do her best to keep her eye on the young woman, but she knew that she also needed to focus on her own task at hand. She did take a moment to note who Cora had been paired with, a winter fairy. Now that was an interesting sight for sure, tho also a little alarming to her. Aklenroth had greatly oppressed the winter fairies and so there was a high chance that he was a rebel, but the fact he was at something as grand as this could also indicate that he was an ally to the lich king. Cora was a smart girl, tho, and Kenia had faith in her.

There was a demi-human who’d approached her now, asking for a dance and claiming that the request may come off strange. She took notice, however, that her own paper was urging her towards him anyways. Before she responded, however, she turned to look to Malachi as he was leaving. ”Have fun, don’t swoon too many women. I really would hate to have to fight them off.” She teased with a smirk, though deep down she knew there was a slight worry that someone else would catch his eye and he’d forget about her. She didn’t let this fear show, however, and turned back to her dance partner.

”I do apologize about that, now where were we? Oh yes, well is it a strange request when we are apparently being magically inclined to dance with complete strangers right now?” She asked O’Ner with a playful grin as she gestured to the paper butterflies indicating them as partners. ”I would love to have this dance with you, though I didn’t quite catch your name?” Her smile was now very friendly as she awaited his reply. If he were to offer his hand in dance she would gladly take it and the first dance of the evening would be on it’s way.

The dances were beginning and Azriel felt a mixture of dread and excitement for seeing what the night would bring with that event. She felt dread, however, as she knew that she’d be dancing within a mix of people who would no doubt bump into her wings at some point. She absolutely detested having her wings touched as it made her think back to a time when they were mangled and broken. Those thoughts brought her much anger and she didn’t need that anger right now. Perhaps that anger could help later on in the night when the fun began, but for now she needed to keep in check. She only hoped her partners were capable enough dancers to help guide her out of harms way.

Her thoughts were interrupted as she noticed a figure approaching her and she gazed at the familiar man now in front of her. A giddy smile crossed her face as she realized it was Darius, the human that seemed to be much different from Jack. He wasn’t broken like Jack was and this was something that truly intrigued Azriel. Darius spoke and attempted a formal bow which caused her to giggle a little at him. He was definitely trying, his second attempt was much better and she actually applauded him. It was then that she realized what he had said and confusion crossed her face. Was he...flirting with her? Never in her life had she had someone actually try and flirt with her. They were always too terrified of her to do so. This human was bold and he actually made Azriel feel a little flustered for a second and she felt heat rising to her cheeks. She forced herself to recover quickly and then a playful smirk came across her lips. ”Lucky huh? I don’t think anyone has ever thought dancing with the angel of death was something lucky.” She took his hand as she spoke, ready to start the dance.

”I must say, you’re very different from Jack. Much more charming. It makes me wonder which of the two of you are the normal ones amongst your kind?”

Torvi followed Belle towards the table she had pointed out, but before she sat down she began to hear the stunned whispers. She turned to see what the commotion was about only to be greeted by the sight of a very beautiful fairy. She watched the woman and her companions enter, thinking there was something strangely familiar about them. She couldn't quite place it at first, however. It wasn't until Belle asked if she knew who the woman was that something clicked. Still, it was hard to know for sure with the mask. "I haven't the slightest clue, but doesn't she and her companions look rather similar to the ones that were shown wanted the other day?" She asked curiously. If that were the case then perhaps they'd be ones they should talk to. If she remembered correctly, one of them in the sketch looked to be human. "I'm glad to have your company as well." She'd told Belle with a grin.

Bowyn returned with three meads, even though Belle had asked for water. This made he'd wonder if everything was alright with him. She felt a bit guilty with dragging him into all of this and she began debating on telling him that he could leave if he wished. He'd helped her so much already, there was no reason he needed to endanger himself any further. She could surely find others here to help her, plus she now had Belle. Before she could say anything, however, Bowyn began explaining who the fairy was. So she was a princess? Did Aklenroth view her as a threat? That was most interesting. Bowyn then explained how the situation may be more dangerous than they anticipated. She opened her mouth to speak, to suggest that yes maybe they should leave just to be safe, but then the announcement that the dances were beginning happened. She felt a strange pull in a direction as one of her papers took form. Hers looked more bag like than butterfly, but that may have been her imagination. She found herself standing, but before she left she looked to her two friends. "Please be careful you two. I'm not opposed to revisiting your suggestion of leaving after these dances tho." The last bit was directed towards Bowyn before she walked away, giving the woman approaching the winter fairy a friendly smile. Hopefully Bowyn would be on his best behavior.

She weaved her way through the crowd of people finding their partners, following her bat like paper until it stopped in front of an older elven man. It was the same man who had greeted them all as they came in. That must mean he was close to the host of this event. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to learn more about said host. What was the motive behind the ball if there was one other than just to show off wealth. "Well hello again, I believe the papers have spoken and we are to dance together." She said, smile on her face as she dipped down into a small curtsy.

What Maeve hadn’t expected was the response she got to her warning. She found herself smirking in amusement at him. He obviously wasn’t concerned with the looks he was getting which she admired, but also knew was incredibly stupid when it came to Alexander Drake. People he wasn’t fond of often seemed to disappear and, while Maeve wasn’t fond of this, she also wasn’t about to try and do anything about that. She had much more important things to worry about and frankly she actually had a bit of respect for Alexander. That didn’t mean that if she saw someone potentially irritating the man that she wouldn’t try to warn that person and look out for them a bit.

Before she could respond to the amusing comment, the guy Finn had shouted to earlier turned to look at him and started a conversation. Maeve remained there quietly off to the side, listening to the exchange. ”And the plot thickens…” She murmured, now even more intrigued by this young man. So his brother had been missing for four weeks it seemed, not unusual in this town if she were being honest, but the fact that the faculty had lied about where he’d gone was different. Why would they lie?

Maeve’s attention was pulled away for a brief moment as some commotion began happening over by one of the paintings. When she looked she saw a little girl had drawn moustaches on one of the pieces of art. She was being reprimanded by a gentleman, her father maybe? If he were her father his parenting skills were not the best she’d seen as the little girl went skating out of the exhibit yelling that they hadn’t seen the last of her. The father figure made no attempt to follow her out and Maeve found herself shaking her head. What a shame one of the beautiful pieces had been defaced in such a way.

Her attention was pulled back to Finn as he’d finished up his previous conversation and was now introducing himself all while hitting on her. ”Well aren’t you bold.” She laughed, but gave him a grin. ”I’m Maeve, it’s a pleasure to meet you Finn and yes I am here for the art. I’m quite a fan of Mr. Drake’s paintings. Sounds like you aren’t quite here for the paintings tho. I’m guessing your brother didn’t actually head back home to his family?” As she spoke she noticed Alexander appeared once more and was heading her way.

”Of course, it would be my pleasure.” Maeve responded to the greeting, giving Alexander a smile. She watched him walk away, impressed he was able to keep his composure after what happened to one of his art pieces. She would have most likely lost it and wanted someone's head.

”Well it looks like the man of the hour is requesting my presence, best to not keep him waiting too long.” She said to Finn as she opened her clutch and rummaged around for something. ”It’s truly been a pleasure meeting you, Finn, and I wish you luck in your search for your brother. If you want, why not stop by my little cafe tomorrow? We tend to hear all the latest gossip in town over there and I’d be happy to see if anyone’s heard anything for you. If anything I’ll treat you to one of the best cups of coffee or tea in town.” She wrote her personal phone number on the back of her business card before handing it to Finn. She then turned to walk away, but paused once more to glance back at him. ”Oh and, while I don’t blame frick and frack over there staring at your butt as it is quite fine, please do be careful around them. They aren’t always the most friendly.” She gave him a smirk before walking away, giving a little extra sway to her hips as she did so.

She went and found Alexander, giving him a friendly smile as she approached. ”Alexander, it’s always lovely to see you. Might I say your art is absolutely gorgeous as always. I hope the evening has been treating you fairly well?” She neglected to bring up the vandalism, just in case.

Sorrel Jäger rummaged around her closet, tossing different articles of clothing out onto her bed as she sighed in frustration. She had a date tonight with a man she’d met earlier that morning at her bakery and now she was trying to figure out what she wanted to wear. She hadn’t been on a date with anyone in a very long time and she was beginning to feel nervous about the whole thing and had even considered at one point cancelling the date. She quickly shoved that thought out of her head, however, as she had a compelling reason to go on this date. Not only was he gorgeous and seemed very sweet, she’d also scented him to possibly be a werewolf. Of course she had no idea if he was already part of a pack or not, but even if he was she figured it may be a good way to find out about the other packs in the area. If he wasn’t then maybe she could do some recruiting since her whole pack was very new. Either way she’d get something out of it on top of having fun on a date. She definitely needed some fun in her life.

She finally emerged from the closet and began looking over her options, her arms crossed over her chest. She’d already done her hair and makeup so she didn’t have to worry about that anymore thankfully. She held up a dress and looked at herself in the mirror then turned to Helmar. ”What do you think of this one?” She merely got a sigh in response. ”Oh what do you know?” She said, but tossed the dress back on the bed.

Finally, after trying on multiple outfits and running out of time, she settled on an outfit. She looked herself over once more and nodded in satisfaction. She gathered her things and made sure they were by the door and ready to go for whenever Volfango got there. She glanced at her phone, realizing that he should be there any minute and she found herself fighting with her nerves once more.

A woman with soft curly red hair that fell just above her shoulders stepped out of a Mercedes-AMG GT that was parked out front of the university. She was derssed to the nines and anyone that saw her could tell that she came from money. Little did they know that she came from very old money that had been built up for nearly 2000 years. There was some obvious pride in this fact as she swaggered up the steps towards the art exhibition.

Maeve Brannigan had been looking forward to this event since it had been announced, having wanted to buy a new piece of art soon. She’d purchased one of Alexander Drake’s pieces in the past and wanted to jump on the opportunity to acquire one more as rumor had it this would be his last exhibition. She got a few cat calls from a group of college boys and couldn’t help the smirk that crossed her face. She’d be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy turning heads on occasions.

She entered the event and glanced around the room at all the mix of people there, finding it intriguing at who showed up to these things anymore. There was the younger crowd that seemed to not care as much at what they wore, but she commended them for showing an interest in art. Then there was the older crowd that were dressed up much like her. She seemed to be the perfect mixture as she didn’t look much older than the college students, but was dressed in a rather classy fashion.

She made her way over to the refreshments, wanting a glass of wine before she explored the different art pieces. As she did so her eyes landed on Alexander Drake himself and she took note of his cronies obviously keeping an eye on someone in particular. She took a sip of the wine as she followed their gaze to a young man who was obviously out of place. He’d obviously just offended some gentleman by wearing his sunglasses. She watched him for a moment longer as he now called out to someone. She shook her head at him as she slowly sauntered over to him.

”Careful there, you’re attracting attention of someone you may not want to attract.” She spoke up as she stopped beside him, Irish accent apparent. She nodded towards Drake’s men briefly before glancing over at the young man and taking a sip of the wine again.

Elsea followed her small group into the ball, on high alert the whole time as she knew Risa’s statement was going to draw attention to them immediately. They were playing a risky game and while the attention made her nervous, she supported her friend's decision. If they wanted to draw allies to them, this would definitely be one way to do so. Her eyes scanned everyone, watching for any sort of attack that they might encounter. Someone had to keep alert, especially since Kyran was quite obviously distracted by Risa’s beauty. That thought made her laugh internally.

She also scanned the crowd for a familiar, unwelcome face. Elthrael had yet to show his face again and Elsea had a feeling he wasn’t about to give up on Risa so easily. He had an obsession with power and control, she knew they hadn’t seen the last of him. Just the thought of it caused that familiar feeling of rage to course through her for a brief minute. She knew she shouldn’t feed off of that rage, but it gave her determination. She’d prove that he was wrong, she’d prove that she was stronger than anyone ever thought. Stronger than Elthrael thinks, stronger than the people from her home thought, strong enough to win against Aklenroth.

She held her head high, looking like some of the proud light elves in the room and she smirked at the shock that Risa gained. After a moment she was handed two little pieces of paper and soon understood that she’d have two people to dance with. Good. She thought to herself, ready to play her part and help find allies.

”Such a gentleman.” Kenia smirked in response to Malachi as he kissed her hand, but she really did think the gesture was sweet. ”Already way ahead of you.” She held up the slips of paper, indicating they were ready for their assignment. She could only hope that one of them would be paired with a “light elf” that was really a human in disguise. Dancing with them would make it easy to see if the ears had that tattoo mark on them indicating who they were.

The hush followed by whispers and then Malachi looking in a direction behind her was enough to warrant Kenia to turn around. The sight she was greeted with was one that was rather unexpected. There walked in Risa dressed in a familiar dress, obviously causing a bit of a scene. Malachi seemed to disapprove, but Kenia instead smirked. ”Well would you look at that, the queen has made her return.” She said, amusement apparent in her voice. ”She’s making a statement, she isn’t hiding anymore. I think it’s brilliant honestly. Chances are she’s going to inspire others to join in the fight.” She kept her tone hushed, just in case anyone was listening in. She was proud of the young fairy girl for being so bold.

Walking into the Grand Hall was definitely something quite unusual for Torvi, but she did her best not to let anything show. She kept her face neutral and tapped into her warrior’s training to keep from giving away any of her emotions. She did spare a quick glance at Belle as they entered, however, and realized the girl wasn’t as skilled at hiding things. Oh well, it was probably fine and if anyone asked it would be easy to just say this was her first time at the Grand Hall.

She chuckled at Bowyn’s obvious distaste still of being there, but he made a fair point about positioning themselves near an exit. If something were to go down tonight it would be much better for them to be near a quick escape route. Her attention was then drawn by the announcement of someone entering the hall. No one else had been announced and so it definitely made her turn her head to look at the man. ”What a pompous ass…” She said with the shake of her head before looking back to Bowyn.

”I feel like asking that question of me is a silly one, but yes I will take a drink please.” She responded with a giggle and then waited for the others to respond as well before looking around and locating a table near an exit.

”I think we should sit over there maybe?” As she was pointing a man came up to give them all two pieces of paper each. It was soon made clear what they would be used for as the light elf host quieted the room and welcomed his guests. Well dancing with strangers would be a good way to speak to new people, that was for sure.

Umber’s voice filled Azriel’s head as he informed them all that he located a human. A grin crossed her face as he described what she looked like and who she was accompanied by. ”A black feathered mask you say? Perhaps she needs a few more feathers added to her ensemble.” She said in response as one of her mithril covered feathers appeared in her hand. She looked the delicate weapon over with glee as she ran her finger down the side of it, slicing it open and allowing blood to pool and drip onto the feather.

Her attention was grabbed by a man prompting her to take two pieces of paper. ”And what if I don’t want to?” She asked him which in turn prompted the man to quickly bestow two pieces of paper on her before scurrying away. ”What a bold little man.” She said with a wicked smile before flicking the feather she was holding towards him and embedding it in a pillar he was walking by. She watched him jump and glance over his shoulder at her with a gulp before quickly moving once again. She chuckled to herself until the annoying announcement of Lord Terneus reached her ears.

”And people wonder why I don’t like light elves.” She said as she rolled her eyes and then looked up to see a disguised Aklenroth addressing the crowd and welcoming them. He mentioned how dancing would commence and the papers made sense now. What an intriguing move. She thought to herself as she stuck her bleeding finger in her mouth to help stop the bleeding.
