Helmar had lazily gotten up and moved over to Volfango to smell him, quickly deciding that the man was no threat to Sorrel before also following her around for a moment. He sat himself next to her as she placed the roses into a vase and just looked up at Volfango. Sorrel had been grinning as Volfango spoke, rather impressed with his charm. When he took her hand, however, she found herself stiffening just a bit as she now looked up at him. For a brief moment an image flashed in her mind of another man from many years ago who had been just as charming and used that charm to steal everything from her. It took everything in her to keep from yanking away and taking a step back. She had to silently remind herself that he was gone, she’d made sure of that, and couldn’t hurt anyone ever again. She was much stronger than she was back then and no one would ever take advantage of her like that.

She began to feel silly for her momentary internal panic and felt her cheeks redden in a blush of embarrassment. She hoped, however, that Volfango would merely think it was because of his words and not suspect anything else. Still she could feel her heart racing in her chest as she forced a smile up at him. ”W-well that truly does sound like a marvelous evening.” She stuttered out and quickly cleared her throat. ”Shall we head out then? I’m quite eager to begin this date.” She gave him a playful wink, ready to follow him out the door.

”Be good Helmar and don’t wait up.” She said jokingly to the dog who in turn didn’t seem that amused as he moved over to his dog bed and lay down with a sigh. She grabbed her purse and would make sure to lock her door as they left as she didn’t wish for any intruders to make it into her apartment. She was filled with excitement and nervousness once more as she wondered how the night would play out.

”Ah yes, it is getting rather late isn’t it? Have a wonderful rest of your evening Mr. Drake.” Maeve bid the old vampire farewell, catching onto his cryptic warning. She wasn’t entirely sure what he had planned for the poor people that decided to stay at this exhibit, but she could only imagine. While she felt bad for leaving them to a potentially terrible fate, she also knew she needed to keep a low profile and helping save all these people would be doing the opposite of that. Not to mention she would surely upset Alexander if he knew she interfered with his plans and the last thing she needed was a feud with the vampire. So she would take her leave as soon as her business was over with.

She moved over to Demitri in order to pay for the portrait, pulling out her checkbook as she approached him. She began making the check out for exactly what she’d offered, triple the asking price. Some may think she was absolutely insane for paying that for the painting, but she’d learned long ago that if you had the money to spend why not spend it? ”Oh no need to wrap it Demitri, I don’t mind taking it as is. That way I can be out of your hair as quickly as possible.” She said as she gave the man a wink and handed the check over.

As soon as the painting was in her possession she moved over towards the young woman who had bid on the painting earlier. As she was approaching her and the man that was speaking with her, she also reached into her purse and grabbed hold of two business cards. ”Cingo terminus..” She whispered, modifying the boundary ward to be attached to the two business cards. Then through that spell she also attached a defensive spell that would repel a vampire from being able to attack whoever possessed the enchanted cards for the next ten minutes. It wasn’t much, but she’d hoped it would provide enough time for the recipients to get out of there before any harm came to them.

”Excuse me, I’m so sorry to intrude on your conversation, but I have a gift for the young lady.” She gave both Shay and Elias a friendly smile as she held out the painting to Shay. ”I just wanna say that I’m impressed that a young woman such as yourself is showing interest in art. So I figured that should be rewarded.” Once the painting had been taken she also held out both business cards to Shay and Elias. ”I also wanted to give you both these. If you bring them into the shop I’ll treat you to anything you want on my menu. I hope to see you both in my shop sometime soon. Now I must be off, I don’t like to be out on these streets too late at night as there are wicked things that like to come out to play.” She flicked her gaze to the men that were entering the exhibit now, hoping that the two caught onto her warning. She may not be able to save everyone in here, but she prayed she could at least save a few. She then bid them farewell as she began heading towards the exit.

She took notice of Finn speaking with the lovely redheaded woman and decided to say something to them on her way out. ”I love your dress, it’s almost as lovely as the woman who’s wearing it.” She gave the redhead a wink before looking at Finn.

”I do hope I’ll see you tomorrow, I don’t like being disappointed.” She blew Finn a kiss, all while silently placing a protective ward over him, the redhead, and even the young girl who’d drawn the mustache on the one painting. It wouldn’t be as strong as the cards she’d given Shay and Elias, but it should at least reduce harm that may come to them. She knew she was being risky by using this magic on these five people as if any of them were familiar with magic they’d realize that they’d had a spell cast on them as soon as anyone tried to harm them, but it was a risk she was willing to take. She wasn’t completely harmless and if she could help someone get out of here alive tonight then she’d take it. With that she left the exhibit and got into her car, ready to head home for the night.

As she was about to drive away she noticed Alexander in a vehicle who's windshield was covered in paint. It would only take one guess as to who was the culprit behind that as she thought back to the little girl on the skateboard. "God dammit..." She sighed as she began to regret casting that spell on her. The little shit probably deserved whatever was about to happen in there. She shook her head and then made a decision as she pulled up beside Alexander. "Hey handsome, need a ride?" She said through her window, giving him a smile though her face showed that she felt bad that he couldn't catch a break tonight.

”What can I say? My parents like unique names, that's for sure.” Torvi giggled, keeping her smile in place. She’d considered the fact that perhaps her name would sound too human, but there’d been humans in this world before so who was to say that some names hadn’t carried over since then. She figured it would be an easy thing to play off if questioned about it. Besides, if she came across another human maybe it would be a clue to them as well and make identifying allies easier.

She listened to him explain who the elven man was and while he seemed rather trustworthy, in the back of her mind she could hear Bowyn cautioning her to not be trusting at pretty words. Still, perhaps this man was someone they should get to know a bit more about. ”You may have caught me my friend, he is quite handsome and I can only imagine someone as wealthy as him would be quite powerful.” She said as she managed to force a blush to cross over her features. He’d managed to give her the perfect excuse as to why she was asking about Vaeril and she’d latched on to it, ready to ride it out.

His statement about those feeling it’s natural to fear death was quite intriguing to her. ”Natural to fear death? But why should one fear death? I think death is something that shouldn’t be feared, but instead should be celebrated. It can be quite honorable so there’s no reason to fear it, wouldn’t you say?” Perhaps this wasn’t a normal thinking in this world, but she’d been raised not to fear death. One should embrace it and if you could die honorably it was even better. You’d be granted the chance to dine with the gods and heroes of old. That was something she strived for.

Darius had stopped dancing as Azriel had obviously surprised him with her statement. Internally she was smirking giddy, but she kept her face neutral. Had he been hoping that they wouldn’t find any humans tonight? Or perhaps he was apprehensive about what finding humans would mean. She remained silent as they resumed dancing, but he seemed to be working through something in his head. She found it quite interesting as Jack had seemed eager to kill humans, but Darius was different. Did he want to save them? It was a noble goal if that was the case, but it also made her question if he’d be prepared to do what was necessary if it came to it.

When he finally spoke again there was a smile that crossed her face once more. So he truly was on their side for the time being then. That was a good thing. ”Yes, that we will. I just hope you are prepared for what you need to do if they wish to stay on the same course they are on.” It was one last little push at him, but she felt it was necessary as he needed to know what he’d signed up for. This was not something for the faint of heart. ”As for tips I feel like you may be the best equipped to find them, however if there’s anything I can advise it would be to look for Light Elves. They will most likely be disguised as them as I would think it’d be easiest.” She kept her voice low to keep anyone from overhearing them.

Shay Knight. That was a name Maeve hadn't heard before, but it definitely didn't mean that someone in her coven hadn't heard of her or been approached. She turned to look at the painting in order to know what the girl looked like and also took notice of some bidding war going on. She kept one eye on the bidding war while also still keeping her attention on Alexander. "She is quite a beauty, that's for sure. Unfortunately I have yet to hear her name. I will definitely keep my ears open tho and ask my people if any of them have heard anything." She was completely honest with him, giving him a small smile. While she couldn't in good conscience promise to help him get the girl back, she'd also probably keep from helping the girl as little as possible. She might even suggest to her that she flee town if she ran into her. Either way she needed to stay in good graces with Alexander all while not becoming a culprit in his keeping of people. It was a tough situation to be in, but she'd manage as she always did.

The bidding war seemed to end in neither parties winning, which Maeve was rather glad the man didn't win. He seemed to be quite the pompous ass and was a little condescending to the girl. That was something that irritated her. She turned back to look at Alexander, however, as he declared that billiards would be his next hobby. "Oh billiards sounds like a wonderful hobby. We should get together and play sometime then." She said with a smile and then glanced over to the college girl who lost the chance to buy the painting of Miss Shay. There was another man who seemed to be talking to her now and as the girl was distracted, Maeve made a decision. "Would you allow me to purchase the painting of Miss Shay? I'll gladly give you triple of what your asking for it." She asked him hopefully.

”Oh but giving you my name would take all the mystery and fun out of things, wouldn’t you say Mathias?” Kenia said as she gave him a playful smirk as they began their dance. She then giggled before adding, ”I’m merely playing, my name is Elora.” False names were something she had plenty of and they flowed out of her mouth as confidently as ever. She was also trying to be playful and friendly to help put her partner at ease, people always seemed more willing to talk if you kept a smile on your face and made yourself appear as non-threatening as possible.

She took notice of the man glancing around for a minute and found it curious. What or who was he looking for? ”Making sure someone doesn’t see you dancing with me? I do hope I won’t make anyone jealous. They can rest assured that I have no intention of stealing you away from them, though you are quite handsome.” Their dance was slow and she could tell he was a little apprehensive about it. It was confirmed when he whispered an apology about it. Her face softened and her smile turned into a very kind one. ”You don’t need to apologize, your dancing is just fine. If we keep it slow there’s not much room for error and I’m just fine with that then you won’t see how terrible I am at dancing to.” She reassured him, though the last bit was a lie. She’d been trained in dancing since she was a young child and so she was quite good at it, but he didn’t need to know that.

”So what brought you to this ball? It seems like there’s a lot of people here for different reasons and it makes me curious as to what each reason is.” She asked after a few more moments.

Unfortunately Torvi hadn’t heard Belle’s plea for her to wait, though it was unlikely that even if she had it wouldn’t have mattered as she was being magically compelled to move towards the man she was now beginning to dance with. She knew she needed to be smart, however, in order to find allies and this man could be a potential danger. The only way to find out would be to start talking. She only hoped she possessed the right amount of charisma in order to do so. ”A pleasure to meet you Caius, my friends and family call me Torvi.” She’d considered giving a false name, but she decided against it as why would it matter. She wasn’t a native to this land and so she had no reputation to ruin.

They moved around slowly in their dance and Torvi was rather relieved as the steps weren’t too difficult. She did, however, feel like she was a stomping bull next to this man who was surprisingly light on his feet. It was almost as if he floated around the dance floor. Grace was definitely not her strong suit. ”You greeted us at the door when we came in, did you not? That must mean you must know our host to some degree. Tell me, what is he like? In all my time living here I’ve never heard of him.” She was doing her best to sound well cultured, but this was again something she wasn’t used to. If Caius were to pick up on it she’d play it off as if she’d been a sheltered elven child or something and was just learning the ways of the world.

Azriel let out a laugh at Darius' answer to her question, deciding that yes she did like this human more than Jack. ”I can accept that as you definitely are the more handsome one.” She gave him a small smirk. She noticed him miss a beat, but it was easy enough to brush off that it didn’t bother her one bit. ”Besides, Jack can be quite dull. He definitely doesn’t understand how to have some fun.” She sighed.

Umber’s voice echoed through her mind as he informed them that he’d located another human. She felt a bit of pride in her friend as he seemed to make finding humans easy. Then again he had the advantage of being able to get into their minds. Still, these rebel fools had no idea who they were truly messing with.

She was pulled back out of her thoughts as Darius asked about where Jack was along with informing her that she was much better company. ”Oh I do hope I am better company than Jack.” She giggled playfully. ”But we had to leave him behind, he is too volatile and a loose cannon. I fear he would have compromised us all.” The man loved killing too much, which is saying a lot considering who Azriel is. She enjoyed killing and torture, but she also knew there was a time and a place for that. Jack didn’t seem to entirely understand that in her opinion. He was too much of a danger because of this.

”As for whether or not you’re the only human left I can assure you that isn’t the case. Umber has already identified several tonight and I’m sure there are many more for us to find.” While this was a bit of a boast on her friend’s behalf, this was also Azriel wanting to see Darius’ reaction to the information. How truly loyal was this human to Aklenroth? Would he be able to kill one of his own kind if they opposed the king?

Sorrel had plopped herself down on one of her barstools, a book in hand as she patiently awaited Volfango to show up. Before the man could even knock, she’d heard his footsteps approaching her door and so did Helmar who in turn let out a single deep ‘woof’ to alert Sorrel of the new presence at the door. She giggled to herself and shook her head at the dog, glad he at least knew to alert you of someone’s presence. It would be more useful for someone who didn’t have almost comparable hearing and smell, however. Of course Helmar had no idea about that, he was just doing his job.

She set the book down and moved over to the door, opening it with a smile. ”Most handsome indeed.” She giggled as she looked him over, her eyes landing on the roses in his hand. ”Roses for me? My, you really do know how to swoon a woman. Come in for a moment as I find them a vase.” She said, grin still in place as she welcomed him inside. The roses had a rather strong scent, but there was another scent she picked up hidden behind the roses. A scent that was much similar to her own, the scent of a werewolf. So she hadn’t been mistaken before while at the bakery. She definitely suspected he was a werewolf and it was part of what motivated her to accept the invitation of going on a date, but now with him here and no other people around it confirmed it. It would be rude to outright ask him, tho, and so she had to find a more creative way to bring it up. She needed the information if he was in another pack here in town. Last thing she needed was to be involved in a territory war all because she didn’t know what territory belonged to who.

She found a vase quickly and filled it with some water, then set it on her counter ready for the flowers. ”So what might be on the agenda for tonight?” She was curious as to where this date was going to lead.

The dances were beginning and Elsea felt a wave of nerves rush over her. While she wasn’t the worst dancer in the world and she had confidence that as long as she got a fairly competent partner she wouldn’t step on any toes, it definitely wasn’t something she was used to doing. Then again the entire time she’d been in Avalia her life had been full of things she wasn’t accustomed to, all beginning with the killing of the man who’d intended to burn her at the stake. This shouldn’t be as challenging as that at least, or so she hoped.

She watched as Risa found her partner, an adorable little faun, and then Kyran’s brief attention on herself which Elsea offered him a reassuring smile. Him and Risa were her family now and she understood his concern, but it was merely dancing. What could possibly go wrong with that? She felt one of her papers begin to move out of her hand and quickly turned to watch it. In front of her she notice someone approaching, another fox demi-human who was quite handsome. He also seemed to look ever so slightly familiar, but she couldn’t quite place where she’d maybe seen him. She couldn’t say much, however, as anyone could say the same about her as a few days ago her face was broadcast in the sky as a wanted criminal. She only hoped that this man either didn’t notice or didn’t care enough.

As he bowed she blinked in surprise, not expecting such a gentlemanly display as so far her experience with the men of this world proved not many were very gentlemanly. Kyran was a bit more once you got to know him, but he still had greeted her with a weapon in her face. The display caused her to smile happily at Kuroi as she herself gave him a courtesy. ”Aye it appears so and what a pleasure it will be to dance with you. My name is Elsea, may I have your name as well? Also I do apologize in advance, I am not the most skilled with dancing.” She kept a friendly smile on her face as she took his hand to begin the dance. She hoped her strange accent wouldn’t be alarming to him as she wasn’t entirely sure if anyone in the world spoke with a similar one to her yet. So far she hadn’t come across anyone who’d spoken with such an accent at least.
