Elsea glanced at Cade as he apologized to Corvina and gave him a smile. She knew it must have taken a lot for him to do that and she was proud of him for it. She hoped that Cora could forgive him as well. She didn’t want there to be tension within their group. They needed to trust each other as much as possible if they were going to make it to the port safely. They also needed to get moving, just as the others had expressed.

She glanced back at Ezeri as she hopped on the back of the unicorn while her companion perched on its head, holding onto the horn. It was slightly a humorous sight and she giggled just a little bit at it, but the Ezeri asked where they were headed. Elsea glanced at the other two for a moment, unsure if they should answer honestly or not. Cade seemed to trust Ezeri more now as well for seemingly the same reason Elsea did and Cora also appeared to like the devil. So she made a decision as she looked back to the woman on the unicorn. ”We’re heading to a town to join a fight against an undead tyrant that rules this land.” It was risky telling her, but she was willing to take that risk. She was also careful not to say exactly what town it was they were headed to just in case.

It seemed that Ayita had similar thoughts to Torvi when it came to the information the trickster gave them before the mysterious person killed him. ”I agree. I think we shouldn’t dismiss the idea at all and just remain cautious for the time being. At least we know that the spy is female if he was telling the truth.” She said with a nod. Should they be skeptical of everyone? Perhaps in a way they should, but they couldn’t be overly paranoid that was for sure.

Before she could continue, there appeared a man hidden under the blanket that Kuroi had been snuggled up to. Torvi had grasped her sword in a defensive way purely out of habit as she stared at the “newcomer” in confusion. He went on to speak, introducing himself as Caelan, and spouting off some nonsense question about who was the DM. Koto was also glancing back now in confusion at the guy. ”I swear I had no idea he was here.” He said to the group and then looked at the man again. ”What in the world are you wearing? I’ve never seen anything like that in Avalia before.” Koto was obviously thinking out loud now and Torvi sighed as she set her sword back down. This man likely wasn’t a threat and even if he was, he was outnumbered. For some reason Kuroi’s reaction made her relax even a little more and laugh just a little bit.

”Well I have no idea what a DM is, so I can’t answer you that question. As for where we’re going we’ll decide if we want to answer that after we learn some more about you.” She told him, but she gave him a friendly smile to try and reassure him that she meant him no harm. She took note of what Koto had said about his clothing and she had to admit that she had yet to see any clothing like that either. She had a theory of what was going on, but she needed more information first. ”I’m Torvi. Now why were you hidden here on Koto’s cart?” She asked.

Disgusting feelings? Azriel thought to herself as she glanced at the woman in the cage. Just who was this woman and who was she to Helio? Perhaps she’d find out eventually. Umber had seemingly ignored Helio’s revelation of her saving Risa and she found a bit of disappointment in his lack of response, but she pushed it aside as she watched Umber levitate the two she’d just brought and then the woman in the cage. He seemed to want to play a game with his two children here. It was a game she was quite familiar with as he’d used it to teach her how to maximize torture of others. He’d often had to keep their mouths shut, however, as if they’d started begging for their lives she’d often just end it out of irritation. It seemed like he was doing it this time as well.

”Fine, I’ll humor you I suppose.” She said with a sigh as she made her way over to the woman she’d cleaved the hands off of. She stood behind the fairy woman and could hear her panicked breathing. Umber could stop her from speaking or screaming out, but he couldn’t keep the panic and fear from her breathing. Azriel plucked one of her mithril feathers and used it to slice open the back of her dress, revealing her back. She then placed the feather dagger against her upper back, watching as the girl’s muscles tensed. She waited a long moment before slicing into the skin and slowly peeling it away from her body. After a few minutes there was blood covering the ground beneath her and there was a section of skin on the girl's back that was completely missing. She walked back around to the front of the girl, who had tears streaming down her face, and tucked her now normal feather into the fairy’s hair. She then looked to Umber and tossed the section of skin she received to him. The most impressive part of it was the wings that were still attached to the skin now at Umber’s feet. ”There you go. Figured you might appreciate that.” She said as she crossed her arms over her chest, appearing to be bored.

After leaving Helio, Azriel had decided to go find herself an inn with a nice tavern somewhere in the River Kingdom as there was no sense in sleeping outdoors. She’d found comfort in some alcohol at one of the small inns located in one of the communities just southwest of the kingdom plaza. While sitting and enjoying herself, she ended up overhearing a conversation of a man and woman fairy. They spoke of a rebellion and Azriel made note of their faces and watched them head up to a room in the inn. She’d followed, acting as if she were heading to her own room and took note of where they walked into.

Now Azriel was heading to the kingdom plaza where she’d heard Helio had made his appearance and took over. She dragged the two fairies along with her, ignoring their sobbing as she did so. As she approached she noticed the darkness seeming to surround the plaza, catching a familiar scent, and she felt rage bubble up in her. She took a few deep breaths, however, and suppressed it as she had a mission. She pushed through the darkness until she made it to the center where she saw Umber, Helio, and a vaguely familiar looking woman in a cage. Seems like Helio had been busy. She merely gave Umber a glance before looking to Helio. ”Hello dear, I come bearing gifts.” She said with a playful grin as she flung the two fairies forwards. Both of their wings were shredded and the woman was missing her hands.

”These two were speaking of rebellion and unfortunately for them I overheard.” She walked behind the man while continuing. ”This one,” she kicked him forward and he face planted on the ground, ”began pleading for me to spare him so I took his tongue.” She tossed the tongue to Helio before moving behind the woman. ”And this one,” she now kicked the woman forward in the same fashion and having the same result, ”attempted to heal him after and so I took her hands. I figured you might like them for your collection.” She grinned darkly as she pulled a pair of hands out of her new satchel she’d bought and tossed those to Helio as well.

Lalaberries? Really? Dear lord, this girl… Kenia thought to herself as she shook her head and watched Zephyrin ask for some. She was about to ask her if she actually meant alaberries, but her attention was pulled by Bowyn. He had conditions and she couldn’t help but give him a cheeky grin. ”Fair enough, I can accept this.” There was a part of her screaming that she shouldn’t allow it and she should be the one to take care of those things, but she shoved that part of her down. She knew she’d been harsh to all of them and, while she wouldn’t take any of what she’d done back, perhaps it would be beneficial to be less...intense. She could be cautious of them all while being a little less bitchy. She was beginning to realize that her grief over Rei had really affected her and she’d channeled it into being rather cruel.

Arwen seemed to have a question for her as well and she pondered on how to answer that for a moment. ”To put it simply, he had proven to be a danger to the group. Leaving him was the kinder option. I assure you, though, his willingness to leave our group on his own yesterday tells me he’ll be just fine on his own.” She explained to the girl. She knew it may not be an entirely satisfactory answer for her, but it was the truth. She then looked to Bowyn and Zephyrin and sighed a little as she knew what she wanted to say next wasn’t going to be easy.

”I’d like to apologize to the two of you, grief has caused me to be more...callous than I intended. While I don’t take back any of my actions, I do realize I could have gone about them in a more tactful way. I’ll try to be better as we move forward.” She gave a shrug and fell silent for a moment, standing there feeling a bit awkward. Finally after a moment she piped up again. ”With that being said, let’s get moving. I would really like to make it to our destination before nightfall.” She began moving once more, at a bit of a quicker pace now.

There was some tension in the group between Cade and Cora which Elsea wasn’t fond of. She could understand both sides of things, but it was obvious that Corvina felt bad for what she’d done. Hopefully in time Cade would be able to completely forgive the girl. For the rest of the day, though, Elsea made it a point to spend time with Corvina. She wanted to give her the opportunity to talk about things if she needed and if she didn’t want to then Elsea just wanted to be there for her. She felt a connection to the other flame wielder and really wanted to bond more with her.

The next morning had gone by rather uneventfully. Cade had gone hunting for them again, though this time he also brought back fruit for them to eat. Elsea truthfully wasn’t a picky eater and was grateful for anything he brought them. There were too many times back home that she’d gone hungry that being picky about what you ate just wasn’t an option.

When Cade halted them, Elsea at first feared there was something dangerous in their path, but then she spotted it. The unicorn drinking from the stream was absolutely magnificent and she immediately felt enchanted by it. Before she knew what was happening, Ezeri was moving around Cade and slowly approaching the unicorn. There was a moment of concern that ran through Elsea as she saw the woman’s eyes begin to glow, she wasn’t going to harm the creature was she? Instead it seemed the opposite happened as Ezeri seemed to tame it. This shocked Elsea and she was almost giddy as the woman said they could approach.

While a part of her wanted to run over there, Elsea definitely didn’t want to spook the creature and approached quietly. She soon stood beside Ezeri and reached out to stroke the unicorns head as she listened to Ezeri speak. ”There’s no need to be sorry.” She told the woman with a giggle and then glanced at her. ”You know where I come from this creature is very special. They bring all sorts of good luck, but they are a wild and free mystical creature. It’s said only the most innocent and pure can tame them.” She gave Ezeri a grin and briefly glanced back at the others. The fact that Ezeri had tamed the unicorn caused Elsea to trust the woman almost entirely because if the legends were true then Ezeri could only be good.

Torvi had found it quite pathetic how their foe had pleaded for his life. Dying in battle was an honor and should die proudly, not sniveling and begging for their life. She had almost wanted to crush him just to shut him up, but at the same time she knew learning any information was beneficial so she refrained. Unfortunately it seemed someone else had been watching him and didn’t want him revealing any secrets. What Torvi did pick up on, however, was the fact that the spy was a woman. This was definitely something to keep in mind.

Baraian was right, they needed out of the sewer and needed rest as soon as possible. She also needed to bandage her arm before rot set in and she needed to lose the arm. So out of the sewer they went, embracing the fresh air and heading for the treeline. Torvi paused for a brief moment, however, as the earth seemed to speak to her in a way she’d felt once before. The same way when she first met Bowyn. She closed her eyes and connected with the vibrations, briefly seeing that undead army that had caused the pair to head to Roshmi in the first place. Her heart broke a little as she remembered the undead vision of Siiri and the woman Bowyn knew. Part of her longed to turn around and find her sister, to put her to rest, but the reasonable part of her won out as she moved again with the group.

They made it into the forest and were looking for a place to rest when she stopped everyone. She felt someone approaching and she’d readied herself to protect her exhausted companions. What approached, however, was a man driving a cart. He’d stopped and greeted them, being a little wary of the group, but friendly nonetheless. Because of his friendliness Torvi had an idea cross her mind. While it likely wasn’t the safest of plans, at least it would keep them moving while they rested. She’d glanced at her weary companions before turning back to the man and offering a large sum of amas she’d swiped from some of the wealthy at the ball in exchange for him taking them up the coast on his cart. At the sight of the money the man eagerly accepted the offer and Torvi reassured her companions that she’d remain awake as they rested to ensure that the man didn’t betray them. While she, too, was exhausted, she knew she could keep herself awake for at least a little longer. Too many times back home did she endure sleepless nights filled with plenty of commotion. She would take her turn to rest once the others rested first.

It was now afternoon of the next day and after some talk with the man driving the cart, a lion demi-human by the name of Koto, Torvi had discovered that this man was actually heading to the port to join the rebellion. He’d been finding out what he could about the rebellion for a while now, but it was Risa’s words that moved him into action. He couldn’t sit by idly any longer, he just had to do something. This made Torvi feel a little more comfortable with him, but to say she truly trusted anyone in the group would be a lie. Trust was not an easy thing when you were in a world that wanted humans dead.

”Do any of you think that what the creature in the sewer said was true or do you think he was full of lies?” She finally asked the group once everyone seemed well rested and fed. She was rebandaging her would with some clean cloth Koto had given her, trying her best to keep it clean. She was curious on what the others thought about the potential of there being a spy.

Kenia had kept the group going until the evening, however she did take a moment at one point to hunt a couple rabbits they’d seen along the way. She was swift with her daggers, hitting her mark with no issues whatsoever. At least they’d have something for supper other than jerky and the apples Elthrael seemed to like to produce, not that he seemed keen on giving any to Kenia or Bowyn anyways. That didn’t really bother Kenia anyways, though, since apples really weren’t good for long term sustenance.

She’d stopped to make camp just before the sunlight disappeared and cooked up the rabbit she’d caught for the group to eat. She still wasn’t fond of Zephyrin and didn’t trust her in the least, but there was another she trusted even less than her and he’d gone off to his own little fortress again like the night before. That was perfectly fine by her as she assigned people to watch again, allowing Arwen to take first watch. She took two watches herself once again, also opting to take the last watch. During one of her watches she took the time to snoop and confirm what she had already been suspicious about. There on one of Arwen’s elf ears was the small symbol Malachi had discovered that indicated the rebels. Just to be sure she silently wiggled the ear just enough, confirming it was fake. She’d made sure no one else was snooping before doing so, however, as she didn’t want to reveal the girl’s secret to the wrong people.

Long before the sun had come up, Kenia went out hunting once more. She’d once more come back with some rabbits and prepared them for the group. She managed to get it all done right before the sun started lightening the sky and doused the fire before waking all in the grouped camp up, telling all to be extremely quiet. Elthrael had gone off on his own and so Kenia had decided to use this opportunity to leave without him. She’d altered the path they’d been taking from yesterday ever so slightly and covered their initial tracks. She even went as far as to stay downwind from the moth man to make finding their scent even harder. She didn’t trust the man, especially now knowing there was a new human in the group, and was incredibly wary of leading him to the port. So while some may think her actions cruel, she was doing what she thought was necessary to protect those she cared about and to protect the rebellion.

Arwen had seemed a little hesitant to leave the moth fairy behind, but she’d complied and Kenia was thankful. She made sure to explain later her actions when the girl had asked. She also had seemed to make the whole group flower crowns and Kenia couldn’t help but find this quite adorable. She gladly wore the crown to make the young girl happy. The only downside, or perhaps it was an upside if you were looking to judge character, to this human was the fact that she seemed to talk a LOT and also hum strange little songs. While it was all cute at first, Kenia had a feeling that by the end of the day it might become quite exhausting.

Afternoon was now upon them and she took a moment to pass out the last of the food she’d made to everyone, especially to Zephyrin since she seemed to be the one most likely to complain when she was hungry. As people were distracted with food, she leaned over to Bowyn. ”I confirmed what I was suspicious of and what I believe you may have been suspicious of last night with our little newcomer. I apologize if my actions in accepting her into our group may have seemed...biased. We now just need to determine where her allegiance lies.” She whispered so only he could hear her while giving him an apologetic look.

After a moment of silence, Kenia glanced to Arwen and put on a friendly face. ”So Arwen, if you don’t mind me asking, where are you traveling from?” Time to see how well the girl knew Avalia and how good of a liar she could be.

The touch of the dark fairy now in front of her sent ice through Azriel’s veins, but she ignored the warning and smirked up at Helio. Any sane person would be trying to get away from the man immediately, but Azriel wasn’t entirely sane. Even she could see that about herself and admit it, though she didn’t see this as a problem. Some insanity could be good at times, especially when it helped minimize fear.

”So you did see that.” She giggled and bit her bottom lip as she gave him an impish grin, playing into the dangerous flirtatious game he’d started. She then took on a worried expression. ”Oh please don’t tell on me, Helio. I’ll be a good girl from now on, I promise...” She said in an overly exaggerated pouty voice as she placed a hand on his chest suggestively, but then giggled as she pushed him back and continued, ”or maybe that’s what I want. Either way I think you should do whatever tickles your fancy.” She winked at him and turned to start walking away as she’d gotten the answer to her question, but then she stopped and turned back around to look at him. ”Oh and perhaps I helped your sister out because now she owes me a life debt. Think of all the fun things I can do with that, it’s just thrilling!” She flung her arms out wide for dramatic effect and giggled again.

”Be a doll and tell Umber I said hello, would ya?” She blew him a kiss before spreading her wings and taking off into the night sky.

Elsea. It had been one of the fire users then and he just let her go. Kenia narrowed her eyes at Elthrael for a moment as more alarm bells rang in her head. Elsea was a kind girl and from what she knew she wouldn’t burn a bridge with an ally unless they really pissed her off and proved dangerous. From how Elthrael spoke it sounded as if the potential bridge between them had been burned and that was concerning for Kenia. This made her trust the moth even less and he was beginning to tread on dangerous ground. For now, however, she had to let it be and would deal with things later.

She hadn’t missed the look Bowyn gave her and she knew he deserved an explanation, but she needed more facts before she could explain everything. ”I know how it looks, but I’m begging you to just trust me on this one.” She leaned in and spoke quietly so only he could hear, praying that he’d be able to discern what she meant. Things weren’t all as they appeared with this newcomer, but she needed time to cement her suspicions.

”It’s a pleasure to meet you, Arwen. I’m the sour elf that Elthrael speaks of. You can call me Kenia.” She told the woman with a grin before adding, ”Just try to keep up because as I told the others, I stop for no one.” Even if she was a human and Kenia would do what she could to keep her with them until she knew her intentions, she was still adamant on not stopping. She didn’t doubt the girl could keep up, but if for some reason she couldn’t then Kenia would have to accept it and keep going. She had to make sure the others were safe.

Azriel had left Risa where she’d been directed and now she was heading back out into the woods. Truly she was curious on whether or not Helio was still around. If he was, would she even be able to find him? She figured she’d merely have to look out for some gruesome trail of destruction. With that thought she caught the scent of blood in the air and decided that was probably a good place to start. Silently she soared through the air, scanning the trees below her until she caught sight of three figures heading in the same direction as her. She flew in lower and silently perched herself in a tree as she watched the scene unfold in front of her.

Sure enough, there was Helio collecting...arms? Well that was rather intriguing for sure, but the dark and twisted side of her could understand it. Trophies were something she enjoyed as well. She listened to the conversation that ensued, soon realizing that these three were meant to be Helio’s handlers, but the one seemed a little frightened of the fairy. How pathetic. Though Azriel would bet that the fairy could easily dispose of all three of these miserable excuses of life.

Azriel couldn’t keep from rolling her eyes as Helio made quite a few terrible puns, though she’d be lying if she said there wasn’t a small part of her that found humor in it. She watched as the trio left and then she heard Helio call out to her. Of course he knew she was there the entire time. Silently she glided down to the ground near Helio. ”Good evening, Helio. Up to all sorts of mischief I see.” She gave him a smirk before moving over to one of the dark elf bodies and nudging it with her foot. ”Those dark elf handlers of yours are such a bore. You need more companions that appreciate art when they see it.” Her tone was playful as she watched him. There was a part of her that was curious if he knew what she’d done and she had a feeling she was soon going to find out.

Slowly it seemed like the group was dispersing on its own and it actually had Kenia a bit relieved. The only one that had stuck around that she didn’t trust was Zephyrin, but having one person she didn’t trust was better than four. For now she’d deal with it as the girl really just seemed more selfish than having ill intent, but Kenia wasn’t about to let her guard down there.

As morning turned into afternoon, Kenia showed no sign of slowing for lunch. She’d rather keep moving until the lost light and then they could stop for a meal. She was willing to skip out on food in order to get them closer to where they needed, but she also was taking the time to do what she could to lessen the chances of them being tracked. She’d considered briefly checking out the fire, in case it was Cora or Elsea, but she decided against it even though her heart ached to be reunited with Cora and Malachi. She needed to stick to the plan and hope that they ended up at the port as well.

A semi-familiar scent struck her nose and she sighed as she looked up to see Elthrael as he landed on a branch. ”What a pity indeed.” She said in response, not stopping from her path until she heard another approaching. Her hand had gone to one of her daggers as this scent wasn’t familiar. She watched as the girl emerged and slowly eyed her as she spoke. She appeared to have elven ears, but there was something in her stance that seemed...off. Perhaps to an untrained eye it wouldn’t appear so, but Kenia had trained to watch for subtleties like this. Then the girl spoke and Kenia had a feeling she knew what was going on here.

The girl was quite obviously young and she spoke of making some trades in the port town, but there was one problem, people in the profession of trading traveled with a lot more than she had. Kenia debated only for a moment on what to do, did she really want to be responsible for another tagalong? Well if this new one was a human then her answer would be absolutely, at least until she knew for sure where her loyalties lie. That information could be drawn out of her as they traveled. ”Well it so happens we’re heading in that general direction. If you’d like you can join us and we can make sure you make it to that port town safely? It’s definitely better to travel these woods with a group, especially if you’re not familiar with them.” She was curious to see if the girl could find some hidden meaning within her words and if she did that would tell Kenia quite a bit about her. For now she’d just wait and see her response.

They didn’t make it very far when some imp like creature bumped into Cade. Shortly after followed a red devil woman and...some kind of chicken? Elsea wasn’t entirely sure what the beast was, but either way she eyed the trio with alarm, especially as the woman unsheathed her sword. Cora reacted as expected, but Elsea knew they needed to not use their magic again unless absolutely necessary. ”It’s okay, we’re going to be alright.” She said softly to her friend as she reached out to Cora’s magic with her own, trying to calm it some. Earlier she’d felt some sort of connection between their magics, almost as if the magics were living things and were happy to be around each other. Almost as if they were sisters. Perhaps it was because they kind of were sisters, what with it being the same type of magic.

Elsea took a moment to glance back at Cade and the trio as he spoke. There was no hiding the fact that her and Cora were human, she only hoped this woman would be an ally. So she remained quiet as it seemed Cade had things under control, but Elsea remained incredibly cautious.
