Azriel had agreed to meet Helio at The Pretty Flower that evening, but she’d decided after the events earlier that she first wanted to bathe. She knew Helio likely wouldn’t mind the blood and gore that was all over her, but she wasn’t fond of constantly living in that. So she’d gone to take a bath at the bath house, spending the rest of the day there relaxing. Now she was heading towards the meeting spot, smelling like jasmine, something she wasn’t entirely fond of. Why would anyone want to smell so frilly and sweet? Damn those fairies for adding jasmine oil to her bath. She’d also allowed them to do something with her hair and, after quite a while, she had some pretty and pristine updo. It wasn’t long after she left that Azriel immediately pulled parts of it out and messed it up. Now it looked nothing like it had, being quite messy.

She swaggered through the doors of The Pretty Flower, watching people eying her. She ignored them, however, as her eyes locked on the form of Helio and she grinned. What havok would they wreak tonight, she wondered? As she approached she only heard the last thing he said, having no idea what had occurred moments before. ”Ah so you like it strong and bitter? Well that’s intriguing.” She teased him as she leaned against the bar next to him. ”I’ll have the same as your king.” She said to the girl running the bar.

”Well what do we have planned for tonight other than potentially getting completely wasted and doing things others might regret? I’m ready to have some fun and take my mind off of things.” She gave him a coy grin before grabbing the drink that had been set before her and going to take a sip.

Elsea kept pace with the group, keeping quiet now unless spoken to, just enjoying the conversation around her. She was about to answer Cade’s question when Ezeri went on to explain why she was here. She described being attacked by a large beast and Elsea didn’t think much of it until she described what the beast turned into. Orange hair, fuzzy ears, a fox tail, it sounded an awful lot like Kyran, but he didn’t turn into a beast...did he? She wanted to ask her more questions about him, but first she needed to answer Cade. ”Well actually I’m on the lookout for Risa and our friend. I was in their company before the ball and I’m awfully worried about them, though I’m sure they’re alright. It’s strange, though, because the description Ezeri just gave sounds a LOT like our friend.” She then turned to look at Ezeri.

”Did the young man give you a name by chance?” She had a hopeful, yet worried look to her eyes. She hoped nothing bad had befallen Risa and Kyran, but if it was Kyran then what had turned him into a beast and where was Risa during this?

There was a slight burst of rage that went through Azriel as Umber snapped that fairy wing, but she quickly pushed it aside. Two could play at this game. ”Oh good! Now you have the perfect trinket to alway remember your loving daughter by!” She responded with an excited clap and smirk. She wouldn’t let him get to her that easily.

Before much else could happen it appeared they had another guest. Helio seemed to think it was an elf and she nodded in agreement before they watched the light elf governor exit the carriage and approach them. Her hatred for him burned inside of her, but she restrained herself for now. She was far too intrigued to see why he was here. Didn’t he know he was currently walking into a pit of vipers? Helio seemed giddy with this new addition which could only mean things were about to get quite fun. He seemed to struggle holding in a laugh, but soon lost his fight which in turn only made Azriel giggle. She then began eyeing Terneus up and down with her signature mischievous grin on her face. Yes this was indeed going to be fun.

”Oh but sweetie pie, I don’t think we can get an amora here until tomorrow. The governor may have to stay the night.” She placed an affectionate hand on his arm, watching out of the corner of her eye if she could get a rise out of Artemis in the cage. After a moment she turned her attention back to the governor and continued. ”Unless the governor wanted me to fly him to his destination? I’d be more than happy to...drop him off wherever he needs to go.” There was a dark, gleeful look in her eye as she let out another small giggle.

Bowyn seemed to appreciate the small funeral they were able to give Boreas and Kenia was glad that they could do something nice for him. Soon Bowyn was urging them to continue on, take what they could from the wyvern and go. Kenia merely nodded in acknowledgement as she moved towards the wyvern, ready to take what she could. They couldn’t spend too much time gathering things, unfortunately, if they wanted to make it to the port by nightfall. They could only spend an hour and a half tops.

As she got to work, Arwen, or apparently Clara it seemed, spoke up. ”Oh dear gods, she’s even younger than Corvina and Rei…” She sighed as she dropped her head back and looked up at the sky. She then glanced over at her as she finished, silent for a moment before letting out a small chuckle and now looking over to Bowyn. ”Oh man, this girl is looking to join the rebels and doesn’t want to drag us into it. Too bad she got stuck with us, huh.” There was a teasing tone to her voice as she moved over to Clara and put a hand on her shoulder.

”Thank you for being honest, though I suppose I should be honest as well. I discovered you were human last night while you slept. There’s a special little something on those ears that indicates to rebels that your human.” She let her words sink in for a moment, a small smirk on her face before she pat the girl’s shoulder. ”Welcome to the rebellion Clara.” She then walked away from the girl and headed for the wyvern tail. She wanted the end of that tail for sure as she could harvest the poison later and add it to her collection as she’d run out of wyvern poison a little while ago and it was a useful thing to keep on hand. She then went back to skinning the wyvern for the most expensive parts.

Kenia realized that Bowyn was in this for vengeance now, she could tell just by the look of him. She’d been in a similar state two nights ago and understood it well. She also understood that she needed to move otherwise she’d also be caught in Bowyn’s wrath and she swiftly bailed off of the wyvern moments before he slammed the wyvern’s head into the ground. She rolled as she hit the ground, but soon was on her feet again as she watched both Bowyn and Arwen finish the beast off. A part of her felt sorry for the creature, but there was no getting around what had to be done. Unfortunately they lost one of their own in the process as well and that fact angered her. Boreas may have merely been a bird to some, but it was obvious he was so much more than that.

Arwen had slowly approached Bowyn and Kenia remained quiet as she watched the two briefly, unsure of what to say. While the pragmatic side of her wanted to skin what she could from the wyvern and leave quickly, her heart screamed at her to do otherwise. To give Bowyn as much time as he needed, that’s what needed to be done. She spotted her flower crown a little ways away from her and silently moved over to it, picking it up off the ground. It must have fallen off at some point during the battle. As she grabbed it, however, something else caught her eye. There, not far from her crown, lay a smaller flower crown that used to adorn the head of the beautiful bird. Gently she picked it up and closed her eyes as she fought off a wave of emotions. She didn’t know Boreas well nor did she know the depth of the relationship between the bird and Bowyn, but his loss brought back up the feelings from losing Rei. She felt ill for a moment, but pushed past it as she came to a resolve. She noticed Arwen to a spot near a tree and set her flower crown down.

Quietly she began gathering some rocks and started stacking them at the base of the same tree Arwen had gone too. She could have asked Arwen to do so, but the girl was offering comfort to Bowyn and Kenia didn’t know how spent she was with her magic. She wasn't about to stop the girl, however, if she decided she wanted to help as well. Once it was complete she then moved to the wyvern. She found the largest and prettiest scale she could and skillfully removed it from the dead beast. She then used her light magic to carefully engrave on it ‘Boreas, Bravest of All’. She set the scale down, propped against the rock pile, and then took off her crown as she set it also propped against the memorial sight. The sight of it stirred a memory…

Kenia looked down at the small flower crown once more before she opened her mouth and began to sing the same song sung at her grandfather’s funeral. As she did so she slowly walked over to Bowyn and gently took his hand before setting the small crown in it. She then looked up at him, tears glistening in her eyes, before stepping back and continuing to sing her dirge.

Kenia was throwing a few light attacks and quickly noticed that ice attacks weren’t also flying quite yet. She quickly glanced back at Bowyn and could immediately tell something was haunting him. ”Shit..” She muttered as she quickly began to try and formulate a new plan in case Bowyn didn’t snap out of it. While she was in the middle of thinking she watched as Bowyn’s bird companion, Boreas, darted up in the sky toward the wyvern. Her eyes widened as she heard Clara calling for him to come back. Then Boreas did the bravest and most selfless thing Kenia had ever seen anyone do. ”No Boreas, wait!” She yelled out to the bird, but it was too late. The bird sacrificed his life in order to help them. Her heart shattered for Bowyn, but there wasn’t time to grieve just yet. They couldn’t squander this opportunity that Boreas had provided them.

As she got ready to launch another barrage of light attacks suddenly ice started flying at the wyvern. She glanced back once more as she watched Bowyn hyper focus on the wyvern. It seemed even the blood from the wyvern he was freezing and using against her. Arwen was also doing as she said and then some it seemed as she focused on crushing the tail. Perfect. Soon the wyvern came down, crashing into the ground. It seemed the fight wasn’t quite over yet as the beast still had some fight in her. What Kenia wasn’t expecting, however, was for her to whip her tail at them only for it to come flying off. Kenia was preparing to dive out of the way when an ice shield formed in front of them, blocking the tail. She glanced back at Zephyrin to see the woman visibly struggling to form the barrier. At least the woman didn’t prove to be completely useless. She’d have to commend all of them for their efforts later, for now they needed to finish this.

Once the ice shield crumbled Kenia ran for the wyvern, pulling out a dagger as she did so. As she got closer, however, she used her magic to vanish from sight. She then swung herself up onto the wyverns back, appearing once again as she made her way up to the head. She grasped onto one of the horns with her free hand before plunging the dagger into the one good eye of the wyvern and then held on for dear life as she knew what would come next. ”Arwen, Bowyn, put an end to this quickly if you would please!” She yelled at the two, wanting to put this wyvern out of her misery as quickly as possible.

”I have no qualms about missing a meal. It won’t be the first time I’ve missed a meal and I’m sure it won’t be the last.” Elsea said in response to Cade with a smile. She truly was eager to make it to the port and make sure Risa and Kyran were okay. She needed to give Risa a hug as she was sure it hurt her to see Dionaea’s mangled corpse.

Her attention was grabbed once more when the discussion turned to demons and whether or not there were good demons. ”I’m sure there are friendly demons, but the only experience I’ve had so far with demons were the two at the ball in Roshmi and they killed a LOT of people.” She said with a shrug and sigh as she continued walking.

Two weeks ago…

Up in the Dragon Spine Mountains there was a brief flash of white light erupting from one of the various caves. Inside said liar there was a swirl of magic as from a crystal the form of a dark elven woman appeared. She let out a gasp as the magic dissipated and she dropped to the floor, landing amongst jewels and other treasures. She lay there for a long moment as she tried to register everything that just happened. She remembered when she fought with Aklenroth and he won out, trapping her within a crystal. After that she remembers just being in darkness which would have been enough to eventually drive her mad, but she came to realize she was almost in a dream state. In time she’d figured out how to control things around her within her mind and kept herself busy. She practiced her magic in order to keep her skill up in case she ever escaped and it seemed like today was that day. She almost didn't believe this was real at first, but she slowly registered pain as she was laying on something uncomfortable. Slowly she got up off of the jewel that was digging into her back and began to take in her surroundings. She gasped again, this time startled as she quickly backed away. There in front of her was a dragon skeleton. She waited briefly for it to move, assuming it was some undead monster of Aklenroth's he'd set therf to watch her, but after a long moment of waiting it didn't move. She let out the breath she'd been holding as she realized it merely was a long dead dragon.

After another moment she decided to move towards the mouth of the cave to see if she could figure out where she was. It was dark out and judging by the sky she’d guess it was still early in the night. Some more glancing around and she finally decided that she was in the Dragon Spine Mountains, a place not favorable to be if you were alone. ”Now how to get out of here...” She thought out loud as she considered her options. After a moment she turned back to look at the dragon skeleton and began to smile. ”That’ll do.” She said as she gathered some of the jewels and a cloak that was within the cave before conjuring her magic and knitting the dragon skeleton together. Before long she was riding the skeletal dragon down to the base of the mountains.

It took her until near sunrise to get somewhere she felt relatively safe before she let the magic drop on the skeleton, the bones collapsing to the ground. After not having used her magic in quite some time she was surprised when she felt a little winded. She’d have to get some more practice in with her magic and build up her strength with it once more. While she could have ridden the dragon skeleton all the way to Azmor Galus, she didn’t quite want to make herself known yet. She was unsure how long she’d been gone for and there was a lot she needed to figure out first.

By the next evening she’d managed to make her way to Azmor Galus and was standing outside a house she was unsure of whether or not the man she once knew still lived there. For all she knew he could be long dead, but she needed to start somewhere. She knocked on the door and waited patiently, the hood of her cloak drawn up over her. Finally a large man opened the door, looking at her with confusion. ”May I help you?” His tone wasn’t the kindest, but his eyes widened in shock as the woman standing at his door pulled her hood down. ”Siraye?!”

”Hi Odarii.”

Night of the Roshmi Ball…

While Risa Millinia planned for her speech to rouse the rebels to action, there was another speech being planned farther up north. Siraye, with the help of Odarii, had gathered a small group of dark elves who had pledged their loyalty to her. Odarii was a high ranking general within Aklenroth’s army and one of Siraye’s oldest friends. The two had grown up together and when she’d disappeared and Aklenroth had claimed her to be killed by the other races, Odarii had sworn to get revenge. Thus the dark elf swiftly rose through the ranks. He was shocked when Siraye showed up at his door two weeks ago and when she explained what had happened he was infuriated. How could he not have realized that Aklenroth was lying to him, to all of them? It was easy for him to convince those under his command to follow him and pledge allegiance to Siraye as they were incredibly loyal to him and in turn now to Siraye.

They worked on spreading the word that there was something important people needed to hear. Some they told it would be a message straight from Halastra herself. Now Siraye awaited the signal that she was to emerge before the crowd and speak. She was dressed in a fine dress that exposed her tattoos and her hair was done up in a regal manner. She took a breath and said a little prayer, asking for Halastra’s help and guidance on what to say. Finally she was beckoned out in front of the crowd. Some gasped at her appearance and there were many whispers, but Siraye held her head up high. She kept a calm appearance about her as she began to speak.

”Some of you may know me, some of you may have only heard my name and of my deeds, and some of you may know nothing about me, but I suppose an introduction is due no matter the circumstance.” She paused to take a short breath and keep herself calm as she continued. ”I am Princess Siraye Vastai, only daughter of Queen Atriss Vastai and the true heir to the throne. I, in all technicality, am your queen.” She paused once more as she watched people’s reactions, some staring at her in awe while others seemed ready to protest. Before anything could happen, though, she continued. ”However I don’t believe it to be right for me to march in here and just claim to be your queen, to take over. No, that’s not how a good queen should start her reign. Instead I wish to prove to you that I am worthy to be your queen, to gain your trust and your loyalty if you’ll allow me.” Those who’d seemed ready to burst out in protest seemed to calm down some, so far so good.

”So why am I here speaking to you now and revealing myself, you might wonder? I merely wish to tell you the truth and explain what happened to me all those years ago. Shed some light onto who Aklenroth truly is. He told you I was killed by the other races, made me a martyr to fuel your hate and become his army, but obviously that was a lie. I had seen the dangerous path we were heading down and Halastra wept for what she saw in our future so I confronted Aklenroth. He was not pleased and so he trapped me in a crystal, he stole me away from you in order to manipulate you to do his bidding. He doesn’t care for you or your well being. What has he truly given you? Food and clothing? While those things are essential, yes, how tiny of a payment is that for sending our children, our loved ones to war? Stealing our children away from us to train to be killers. If he cared then why hasn’t he given us land that is more hospitable? Why are we still banished to these islands? Is he not the ruler of all of Avalia? Could he truly not find a better place for us to live?” She let her words sink in for a long while, watching the faces of her people. To some it seemed they never really thought of this.

”There is a rebel movement happening in the south, from what I hear, and I plan on joining them. I plan on finding our people a place in this world, no longer banished and accepted by the other races. I wish for peace among everyone, to no longer see immense death everywhere. If you feel the need to inform Aklenroth of this then so be it. I knew that may be a possibility and I’ll accept that consequence, but all I ask of you is to think about the things I’ve spoken of today. To know that my whole goal in life is to help provide my people with the best life possible. If you can find it in your hearts then please consider joining me in this fight. Don’t let Aklenroth manipulate us anymore!” She left it at that, turning to leave as an uproar happened behind her of people cheering. She could only hope that her words would move them to action.

Present day…

Siraye and Odarii sat on the amora quietly discussing things while patiently waiting to get to River Port. The amora had made a brief stop in the River Fairy Kingdom, picking up a few more passengers before continuing on to the port. If Siraye had been paying closer attention then perhaps she would have noticed the pink haired fairy and her fox demi-human companion board, but she was too focused on thinking through her plans. ”And you’re positive it’s this port that Khino told us to go to?” She whispered to Odarii for the fifth time.

Khino was one of the dark elven guards that was at the ball that night and also under Odarii’s command. After everything had happened Khino had overheard one of the humans urging the crowd to follow her to the port. After a bit more digging he’d narrowed it down to River Port and got in contact with Odarii as soon as he could without drawing too much attention. ”Yes, your majesty. Khino is very good at what he does in gathering info. Even if it’s not right, we’ll find a way to connect with them. Just have faith.” He reassured her once more with a small sigh, but giving her a smile.

”Please Odarii, you can call me by my name. You’re my oldest friend, I’d almost prefer it.” She reminded him once more, but had a feeling it would be a constant thing between them. ”When we do get there how are we supposed to find them? I’m sure they aren’t going to be blatantly advertising.” This was something she’d been thinking about, but hadn’t voiced until now.

”We’ll figure it out, I promise. Let’s just focus on finding a place to stay first, okay?” Odarii laughed at his lady’s concern of absolutely everything, but he also understood it. Siraye sighed, but gave him a smile and a nod. She had to trust that things would work out.

Finally the amora landed in River Port and the pair made their way off it and into the small town. Odarii took a moment to ask someone directions to the inn and Siraye made sure the hood of her cape was up and that it would be hard to get a good look at her before glancing around at the buildings. Eventually they were walking down the street and heading towards the Inn by the Sea where they would find themselves a room. Many seemed to avoid the pair as Odarii was a rather tall and intimidating looking man. It also didn’t help that he carried a rather large sword on his back and definitely looked like he knew how to wield it.

As they got closer to the inn, a great dane ran up to them and gave Siraye a piece of paper. ”Oh well thank you.” She said as she worked past her moment of confusion before glancing at the paper. ‘Meeting Hall tomorrow at 2’ is what the paper said and Siraye glanced over at Odarii as she allowed him to read the vague message. ”Maybe they will be advertising then.” She said with a small shrug and laughed a little before continuing on to the inn.

”Me? Going soft? Now that’s never going to happen!” Kenia replied to Bowyn with a small laugh. It seemed her own apology spurred Bowyn to also apologize and while she didn’t feel he owed any of them an apology as he wasn’t half as bad as she was, she could totally understand it. Hopefully now there wouldn’t be as much dissension within the group now.

They didn’t make it very far before Arwen claimed she needed to use the bathroom and Kenia sighed a little as she paused again to wait for her. Every instinct told her to keep going, but she’d just stated she was going to try to be better and that she would do. ”Anyone else need to relieve themselves before we continue on? I really don’t want to have to stop every half hour because someone didn’t pee before we left.” She asked the other two while making note of the direction Arwen went just in case. It wasn’t too long after she’d disappeared that Kenia’s elf ears picked up a low growl sound and she immediately went on high alert. She quickly began scanning the trees, looking for the source of the growl. ”Something’s wro-” She was cut off as a loud roar echoed through the air and Arwen came flying back through the bushes. ”Shit!” She couldn’t identify exactly what the creature was by just the screech, but she was willing to bet it was either a wyvern or, even worse, a dragon. She briefly glanced at Arwen as she got up and began controlling the rocks around them. A terramancer, that could be quite useful depending on her level of control.

”Still think Bowyn was being judgmental earlier?” Even though they were in danger, Kenia couldn’t pass up an opportunity to tease someone a little as she gave Arwen a joking smirk. She then turned back to the skies, scanning just in time to see the wyvern swooping down towards them. She tried to desperately throw a light shield up over everyone, but the wyvern still broke through some and she still had to leap out of the way. She kept her eyes on the wyvern now as it circled around again. She heard Zephyrin shout a warning to her, but she didn’t move quite yet as she readied an attack.

”Come on then.” She said, more to herself as she gave a grin to the beast. At the last second she threw a slice of light magic straight for the wyvern’s wing before tumbling out of the way. She quickly got back up and quickly looked at the group to make sure all were okay before addressing them. ”Everyone, watch out for her tail. If you get hit by it I can’t guarantee I can administer an antidote for the poison in time. Bowyn, can you focus your ice magic on her wings? I’m going to do the same with my light magic. Zephyrin, I don’t know what your skill is with magic, but if it’s possible can you try and shield us? And Arwen, if possible, try to cover the spikey end of her tail with your earth magic. It’ll at least provide us with a little extra protection and then if Bowyn and I can get her grounded for a moment perhaps you can use your magic to restrain her there? As long as we work together we’ll be just fine.” She didn’t really want to come across as sounding bossy, but if they wanted to survive then they needed some semblance of a plan. If the others had ideas too she was more than happy to hear them.
