Holly Kate Blake

It was just coming into Autumn. It was starting get cold outdoors and the leaves were falling turning the floor into a sea of red and yellow. It had been the perfect Friday before the weekend ahead of them. It had been a day mostly of Art and English, both of which Holly loved. With her parents away for the weekend Holly had invited her friends around. Her parents had bought them some alcohol and she knew her friends would provide some too. It was going to be a good night for them to chill out in the ‘Hang Out’ room. Being an only child her parents had changed their basement into a ‘Hang Out’ room for Holly and her friends. Tonight as usual they would be in there, but her friends would be able to stay longer than the usual time of “no later than 3am”. Unless a sleepover had previously been arranged her parents had that rule in place. They were away on a two week vacation though, so Holly was under no restrictions for the next two weeks. She was looking forward to spending time with her friends.

The plan had been to hang out, watch Horror movies and play with a Ouija Board. They had wanted to use a Ouija Board since the passing of their friend. Now was the fitting time as it was Halloween. The arrangement had been that that night they would dress in fancy dress to fit the evening. Holly had 2 costumes. One for that night and one for Halloween. It was going to be a fun night as far as Holly could see. She had the ingredients to make 6 large punch bowls and plenty of snacks. With her parents leaving her unlimited money Holly could also order some food in.

Along with her closest friends and boyfriend Holly had just arrived home from school. She was newly dressed into her tinkerbell costume consisting of a glittery green dress, a pair of glittery white wings and a pair of green stiletto heels. She had a green hair band in her hair and had straightened her hair. She had also put on glittery green eyeshadow to go with the outfit. Once ready Holly headed downstairs and started making her punch bowls. As expected the bowls were filled with alcohol and fruit juices.

"Holly, are you sure you don't need any help? It kills me to watch you do everything without letting me lend a hand, or two, or even three when I'm in the mood." Jada's prominent voice called from the couch over the playing music. Her body was turned to the side, her dark almond eyes watching Holly as she dumped various liqueurs into a large plastic punch bowl. Jada was wearing a black and white polka dotted dress, a light pink cardigan covering her shoulders on the crisp day. Her shoes had been thrown next to her backpack on the floor the moment they had entered the house. She admitted she hadn't gone as far out in the costume department as some of her other friends, defending that she was was a '50's housewife' or something like that.

Jada had spent practically every day after school with Holly due to her father's work schedule at the high school. He wouldn't be home until late at night and since Jada didn't have her license it was either walking or spending time with her best friend. She always chose the later.

Gazing around the room, especially on the table of snacks and alcohol anyone could tell Holly's family was well off. That is where the two girls differed; their social class were complete opposites. Thankfully Holly was always on the giving end of the spectrum, and wasn't pretentious like some of the other girls attending their school.

"Good luck with that," a young voice called from where she was sitting on the round chair, phone in hand. Isabel was quickly texting away, gazing at the phone with a huge grin on her face. "I already tried asking. Though maybe that's because I'm just too useless to be any help." A sort of somber look crossed her expression for a brief moment before she suddenly took a swig from her dull, obviously very-used flask. Then she snapped the phone shut and leapt to her feet. "BUT the party is almost ready to start, anyway! Why don't we listen to something a bit more upbeat?" Without a second though, she hurried over to the radio and sifted through the music until she found one that was loud and blaring. Turning it up, she jumped up onto the couch beside Jada and began to dance wildly, laughing and giggling.

Yes, Isabel was already slightly tipsy. Actually, she always seemed to be in a mild state of euphoria, these days, thanks to that trusty flask of hers. It was hooked onto the belt of her sexy pirate costume, fitting in nicely with her current appearance, but not-so-nicely at school. Her large, puffy white shirt hung low in all of the right places, as the red corset she wore vastly accentuated her petite frame. A pleated skirt wrapped around her waist to hang over her backside, yet revealing long and slender legs in the front. Yet somehow, the heeled boots and traditional captain's hat had already found their way onto the floor near the door.

Isabel may have been even more drunk than usual, as she knew that tonight was the night. It made her nervous and scared and all kinds of other things she did not want to be feeling. Especially sad. Tonight was not a night to feel sad. So, she made sure to bring something extra-special to get them all through the night. As she remembered this, she gave a loud gasp and jumped from the couch to run to her bag. "OH! Holly! I forgot, by the way... I brought something extra-special!" With a sly grin, she held out her backpack to her close friend. "I got the good stuff!!!"

Inside was a bottle of Captain Morgan's Spice Rum. Fitting, actually, but she had managed to sneak it from her father's cupboard before school, once they had both left for work. It was a decently-sized bottle, and a miracle that no one had caught her with it during class.

Colton walked in from the restroom, covering his ears. "Augh! Turn that crap down! If you're gonna blast music, at least play something good..." His eyes flickered around the room, observing the group. This was a very stressful night, but everybody was playing it off as if nothing was wrong. He just couldn't understand. How were they hiding their feelings so well? At the thought of seeing Rosie again, his insides were... shuddery, to say the least. Good or bad, he couldn't tell.

Tonight he was dressed in a dorky Peter Pan getup - a cute way of supporting his girlfriend in her costume choice. The dark brown tights clung tightly to his toned legs and body, draped by a cheesy neon-green tunic and a matching brown belt. He hadn't really had any preferance for Halloween, but Holly's eyes had lit up when they found it at the costume store. If it made her laugh and smile, it was the only thing he wanted to be for the holiday. Her happiness was what kept him going, especially now, since he had been struggling so much with Rosie's death. Hopefully she didn't know that, though... Colton had tried his best to hide just how sad he was. After all, she might get the wrong idea. They had only been together for a short while before Rosie died, and the last thing he wanted was for her to be jealous of her dead best friend... Plus, Holly had been dealing with this, too. He wanted to be there for her.

Smiling sweetly, he approached Holly from behind and wrapped his strong arms around her waist, tenderly. "You sure you don't need any help?" He asked, now the third person to approach her about party set-up. It wasn't like a huge party or anything (and hopefully it wouldn't be, if Isabel would keep her drunk ass off of her phone), so she didn't need to push herself so hard just for them. They were a pretty tight-knit group of people, so of course any of them would jump to each other's aid when they could. "I'm really good at helping..." He mumbled playfully against her ear, resting his chin upon her shoulder. She was so cute when she was focused. Based on the amount of liquor she was pouring into the punch, he had a feeling that she was a bit tense about tonight. He wanted her to just relax and have a good time. If she wanted to talk to Rosie, fine. But he still thought messing with the dead was a bad idea...

"Damn man, where are you at?" The sultry male voice had said. Cain- As he liked to be referred to by his last name- had been waiting to enter the party. He was waiting for one of his favorite people to be around, Jackson, to arrive. Cain was dressed in a very realistic horror makeup that he had gotten for the party as well as a theatrical costume he managed to get from his mother's work. It was his plan to be the life of the party once again in a number of ways. Usually Cain would be inside drinking and dancing on a table right about now, laughing and having a good time with everybody. But this party, he intended to scare everybody. He had already planned the whole thing and was just waiting on an item he had asked Jackson to please bring for him.

He looked down at his watch. The plans for the group were to have a little party, then watch some scary movies, and then use the Ouija board. That was his plan too, only that he would be showing up during the scary movie bit. Right after a big ghost scene, it was his plans to hit the breakers and then make his way through the house, and then of course try and get whoever was going to flip the breakers to play along. From there he would enter the dark hallway in his black attire and throw an extra planchette down the hall and into the room they would all be gathered at. All that would be left would be to send the new friend he would get back down the hallway with a fake knife in their back, and fall down.

It would be a barrel of laughs, It was a spook party after all. He didn't believe in the supernatural, but he did believe in not messing around with the dead. All he needed from Jackson was that extra planchette. He stood outside the house near the bushes waiting with a sigh. "Damn, this is gonna be a long wait." The rest of them had gone home with Holly, but Cain went to his home to get himself changed and then came to the house.

Richard thought he was late as he got to holly's house. Noting the other backpacks in the foyer. he put down the schoolbag but kept the sportsbag over his other shoulder. He was dressed as a squire, he already had a full character history in his head if anyone wanted to hear it, most didn't care, Rosie did. It was funny to think about as he fingered the fob on his keyring, a rose from Rosie's keychain collection.

She got it on the class trip to Disneyland where he started to crush on her, but She was already with Colton. When she died, her mom let them take something from the room as a keepsake, he took the fob and added it to his own matching one he got to try an impress her. Two hearts parted by glass.

"Marley was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner..."

Quoting Dickens in the hallway wasn't the best of things for a party mood, but it did help him close the door again, as his therapist suggested. Suddenly he was drawn out of his revere by the blast of music through the house, it wasn't the phantom of the opera but it startled him all the same. Leaving the dead behind, he took his shoulder bag and came down the stairs.

"Hey guys, I talked to one of the goths and got their ouija board. The new-agers didn't have one but one of the girls gave me a protective candle to ward off unwanted spirits... its a tea light with a star made from five splinters of a coffins lid, or toothicks, one of the two. Holly, I got some wire for you from the A/V and computer club, Doug says 'Hi'. Colt, I told Doug you said 'Hi' back for Holly."

He swallowed hard when he finally really saw Isabel's costume or lack thereof. That was a booty to plunder! He laughed out loud at the joke in his head and made his way to settle down besides Jada on the same couch but the bag between them as a respectable distance and started pulling out the horror movies. Lots of old Basil Rathbone and Vincent Price stuff. He had a change of clothes in the bag as well as his dagger he couldn't wear on himself at school.

Jackson stepped out his car a small bag of DVDs in hand, he reached into the ignition and grabbed his keys before closing the door and proceeded to press a button on the key-chain locking it behind him, he waited a second until he heard a honk, satisfied Jackson then proceeded to walk over to the door. But stopped when he heard rustling in one of the many bushes that lined the front yard of Holly's Mansion (well compared to his home at-least)

"Cain come out of the bushes" no response, Jackson would have moved on if it weren't for the fact he could hear Cain's snickering "Dude i can hear you snickering and i got the thing you wanted" not on his person mind you Jackson had left it in the trunk of his car.@BlondieBoy

Cain came out of the bushes and fist bumped Jackson. "Hey man, how're you holding up? Are you ready to pull this prank tonight?" He said making sure to try and include Jackson in it right away. It would be better for him if he had a set person to go get the breaker rather than attempting to persuade somebody into playing along as it happens.

Holly smiled as Colton wrapped his arms around her small, slender frame. She turned her gaze to him. "Don't worry babe. It'll be done soon." She told Colton. She then turned her gaze to her best friend. Heck, if Holly didn't ask for her help she would help anyway. That was just Jada. Jada couldn't ever just sit and let others do everything. "Seem as you're going to anyway.. You can put the dips into the bowls and then maybe put some of the chips into bowls too." Holly told Jada with a grin. Holly carried on pouring the snacks out. She was desperately trying to deal with the nerves of using the board. She had always wondered to herself if Colton was truly over Rosie or if he was really only interested in Holly as a back up plan. Holly had liked Colton for so long and now she really loved him. He was perfect to her, but she was never sure if she was for him.

Colton noticed the look in Holly's eyes and internally sighed, a little. So she was still really beaten up about the whole thing, huh? If she's so nervous, we just shouldn't do it! Messing with the dead is creepy, anyway... He frowned a little at this and slowly moved his hands to rest gently on her hips. Colton wanted to bad to support her in this, to give her some kind of closure, to find out anything about why Rosie had left them, but something in him screamed that it was a bad idea. It felt like something might go terribly wrong, and he couldn't lost Holly, too. He just couldn't. Despite what she may or may not believe about him, he really did think that he was in love with Holly. She made him happy in every way imaginable. Rosie had been dear to him, but she was dull compared to Holly's brilliance. It was terrible to say after everything that happened, but he really did believe that.

"Oh, I see how it is. Best friend comes first, huh?" He teased, sticking his tongue out, playfully. "Just keep your hands to yourself, Jada. Holly's mine." Gently, he turned Holly around to face him and winked at her, of course only joking. They weren't like that, obviously. But Holly just looked so cute when Colton teased her, he couldn't help it. His hand went to cup her cheek, and he lightly pressed his lips to hers, letting a bit of sexual tension seep into the connection. God, she was hot... he couldn't deny that. He loved this woman, definitely. Grinning, he decided to leave them be and went over to where his guitar sat against the wall. To soothe his own nerves, he decided to relax and practice a few chords until the rest of the party got here.

Being ignored by everyone didn't really phase Isabel, as that was how they usually reacted to her drunkenness. So when Holly didn't reply, she took the liberty of placing the rum next to the punch bowl with the expectation that everyone would be crazy enough to drink it straight, like she did. "Now don't go hogging it for yourselves..." She slurred, wandering over to the bed and flopping herself down on it. She frowned at Colton's playing and sighed loudly, obviously annoyed that he was playing over her music. When he ignored her, though, as usual, she occupied herself by counting the people in the room. "Wait!! Where is everyone else? Ughhhhh they're so slow!" She exclaimed, boredly.

With raised eyebrows Jada listened to Isabel babble from the chair, a grin pasted across her lips. Isabel was Jada's right hand girl when it came to getting turned up as wild as possible, and speaking what others were afraid to do. Many nights they spent together out smoking, drinking, and shooting the breeze about everyone and everything. Jada hadn't drunk yet, but she would probably be there eventually during the course of the night. Blasting the music Isabel came hopping over, dancing around and jiggling the couch. "You're gonna make me sea sick you crazy bitch!" Jada teased lovingly, but barely audible over the music.

As Isabel walked away to grab something for Holly Richard came and replaced her, sitting down on the couch. Jada offered the boy a warm smile, the bag between the two of them was a clear sign of their friendship status. The two got along, but they didn't particularly have much in common. She had been first in line to tell him to go for Rosie when she had been alive, but she never got to see the two blossom into anything.

"Seem as you're going to anyway.. You can put the dips into the bowls and then maybe put some of the chips into bowls too." Holly eventually caved in and let Jada help her. "Thank God! she replied returning the same grin Holly had given to her. Using Richard's shoulder Jada hoisted herself up and off the couch and next to Holly to help serve some of the snacks. Opening bags of the chips and dumping them into bowls Colton spoke up, his arms wrapped around Holly in an embrace. "Just keep your hands to yourself, Jada. Holly's mine." Smirking, Jada made a face of surprise, "Oh, how I will I ever live on without running my hands all over her? I can't go on!" she exclaimed sarcastically, her hand grasping her chest as if he had honestly offended her. She watched as the two of them exchanged a quick kiss before Colton left the table side and went to his guitar.

Making playful kissing noises at Holly, Jada bumped her best friend with her arm lovingly as she spooned the last of bean dip into a small serving bowl. "I know you're nervous about tonight. I can see it plastered all over your face. Don't worry though, it's not real. Just some game." Jada reassured Holly, giving her a serious look before turning her attention to Isabel who was across the room flopped onto the bed. Jada got a cup full of the punch for herself.

"Wait!! Where is everyone else? Ughhhhh they're so slow!" Isabel groaned. Jada walked over to the girl and gave a loud, playful smack on the girl's bare thigh. Giggling, Jada shook her head at her friend. "Yeah, where the hell are Jackson and Vincent tonight? They were at school today. I know you are especially looking forward to seeing Vincent, Isabellllllll." Jada teased, sticking her tongue out before taking a seat next to Isabel on the bed, her petite legs crossing over one another off the side of the bed.

Despite her teasing towards Isabel, Jada had been excited to see Jackson that night. The quiet and cool demeanor of him was something the girl admired, and had caught her eye ever since the two had met and became friends. Despite these thoughts, Jada would never admit to having a crush on Jackson, and would even go as far as denying it if the idea was brought up between her girlfriends when they spoke to one another. "Hopefully they are alright." Jada added in, letting out a soft sigh and taking a sip of the spiked punch from her cup.

Colton rolled his eyes at Jada's comment. "Hey, you never know! Tonight is going to be crazy. You might even try to kiss her! Then where would I be? Although..." He stopped himself and grinned, obviously just joking. Though it would be hot to see those two making out, Colton much preferred Holly as a man-loving woman. And even better, a woman who loved him. He hoped. When Richard came in, he nodded and continued to play some messy chords as he tried to tune his guitar over the noise of their now growing group of people. "Oh, thanks man. Great job being brave enough to even approach those weirdos." He shuddered. Although he didn't know what it was, something about those goth kids gave him the heeby-jeebies. This ouijia board didn't exactly help things. So... It's here in the room, now... Creepy...

"Owww!!!" Isabel made a pathetic face, feigning sadness. "That hurt! And besides, like I'd ever want to see that freak, again!" She frowned and crossed her arms, almost pouting about it. Though a bright red blush did cross her cheeks. Damn, Jada, you're such a jerk! Yes, Isabel did kind of like Vincent... But he obviously wasn't interested. He wasn't even here, for crying out loud! And if she were being honest, she had actually sort of forgotten about her little crush once Rosie had passed... There was just too much to deal with. She didn't care about love, right now. She wanted her friend back. Though she would never say that. She wouldn't say she liked him, either... Why were they even talking about such depressing things?!?!

Just then, Isabel noticed a familiar face and grinned, widely. "Richard!!!" She squealed at the top of her lungs and, without reserve, ran over to jump onto his lap where he sat on the couch. Her actions knocked the movies carelessly to the floor. "Richard! Richard! Richard! Guess what I'm dressed as?!?!" Giggling, she formed her finger into a hook and pressed it under his chin, as if it were a sharp hook hand she was holding to his throat. "Grr... Give me all your treasure... Grr... These really were her closest friends. Drunk or not, she really didn't have any reserve with any of them. Especially drunk. At some point tonight, she would probably be trying to kiss one of them. Thank goodness for her, it hadn't seemed to cause any awkwardness, yet. Or at least, none that she had noticed, in her constant state of tipsiness.

"Awwh..." Sighing happily, she fell backward so that she was laying across Richard, her head on the empty spot where Jada was sitting, before. "You guys are my best friends... Seriously... I love y'all..." A sniffle could be heard as a bit of tears formed in her eyes. Yes, she was already at the crying stage. She would be crashed early, tonight, for sure.

Richard had a sad smile for Jada as she left as soon as he sat down. Sad because got up when he got close, a smile cause he got a peek down her polka-dot top as she used him to pull herself up. Any sadness suddenly vanished when he had a lapfull of lush lady, he could feel every curve of her suddenly weighing in against him as she spoke.

"Richard! Richard! Richard! Guess what I'm dressed as?!?! Grr... Give me all your treasure... Grr..."

He hooked his fingers into hers like a little handshake as he spoke up.
"Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirates life for tink!"

And like that she went from hay to crying just like that, talking about best friends.

"Well you know what they say: 'Friends don't let friends fuck fair folk.' But, perhaps you could *not* be my friend for, like, half an hour?"

Before she could respond, he tried to tickle her stomach so she would forget about the comment consciously to the 'physical threat' and let it slip to the back of her mind. Sometimes it paid to read the psychology books. He looked at all the stuff on the floor now and part of his meticulous nature wanted him to pick it all back up, then again there was a girl on his lap, the OCD could wait for the chance of a PDA.
