Personality:Focused purely on her studies, Preslee had little to no time for socializing with the rest of her class. She was set on not only graduating with a major, but also a minor and diving right into her internship and graduate’s program, therefor making her a bit more work oriented. She can be very helpful to those that seem interested in anything she is interested in, but can be rather cold and unforgiving to those that she does not care fore. Having to adjust to the new world has only made her unwillingness to speak to others stronger, meaning that she is a bit more awkward to be around.
Regardless of her introverted habits, Preslee does enjoy being around small children, seeming more comfortable in talking to them because they have open minds as opposed to adults. She tends to stray away from confrontation, although she can be very good at arguments, because she gets flustered easily. Having been an introvert most of her life came with its perks, though. She has remained alive because of her willingness to be invisible, not drawing much attention to herself.

Your First Walker Encounter: Eager to be so near to finishing her internship and beginning her career as a conservation scientist, Preslee had gladly taken on an assignment that was more meant for certified personnel. The labs had been low on staff that day, so they had told the young woman that if she finished the task, she’d be not only done with the internship, but able to go home early. A double incentive which had Preslee grab her coat and head out the door with her materials. It was an injured animal case. There had been a breach to one of the enclosures in the last few days, but nothing had been found wrong when the crew had gone to investigate and fix the opening. Now, in that same enclosure, there had been reports of blood throughout and of animals becoming stressed.
As Preslee finally arrived to the enclosure door, she began to hear the animals in a panic on the other side. Confused as to what they could be worried about, the young woman made her way into the room, shutting the door behind her, the proper tools in hand to be able to sedate an animal or to put it out of its misery. It was clear to see that there truly had been something happening when she came across pools of blood, with certain mammals strewn about as if they had been half eaten. It was a murder scene. Bile quickly rose up and flew out of Preslee’s mouth as she struggled to understand what was happening. Through her groaning, she could hear footsteps approaching which caused her to quickly wipe her mouth and look up. It was another person, slowly stumbling over to her. Preslee had recognized who it was; Stanley from the micro department. He didn’t stop as she called out to him, only seemed to be more motivated to reach her. Fumbling with her belt, Preslee found a small knife which was used to gather samples and held it close to her. After pleading and begging, Stanley was close enough to lunge, causing Preslee to scream and fight him off. A couple of stabs seemed to do the trick at the time, having them land right through his eye and forehead.
History Before Outbreak: Being born in Manchester, England, Preslee lived a rather boring and normal life for British girl. Her father worked in the oil industry as the head of the HSEQ department and her mother a school teacher. Her parents often traveled for work, so it was normal for the young girl to stay at her grandparents home every now and then for periods of time. It was when she had turned eleven years old that her father was offered a permanent position in Jacksonville, Florida with a higher pay, that the family was uprooted. Preslee had rebelled and thrown many fits as she was taken away from all of her friends. She spiraled down a severe depression as she was introduced to her new school and neighbors. She was the odd child, the one with the funny accent that everybody tried to mimic. Preslee focused her anger and depression into the one thing she was good at, school.
As the years went by, Preslee advanced from one grade level to the next, often skipping a year due to her diligence and hard work. Her parents had tried once to take Preslee to a psychologist in order to help her out of her fixation with learning, but nothing helped except putting her on a lower dosage of antidepressants to help with her anxiety. As she grew into her later teen years, the anxiety slowed a bit but still lingered, all while the depression disappeared. Preslee truly enjoyed devoting her time into studies and education, anything that could help her survive in the new age.
Being able to graduate high school at an early age, 16 1/2, Preslee quickly enrolled into a University near by so that she could have something to do. This is where she found her love for Biology, and soon Zoology, as she had taken it for a science credit. Her parents were convinced that Preslee was going out with friends, as she would lie to them and spend countless hours in the library, every now and then speaking to the librarian who would let her know of knew books that would come in. Since her parents thought that Preslee had “returned to normal”, they decided to move back to the United Kingdom and offered their daughter the option to stay or go with them. Having fallen in love with her major and minor, Preslee chose to stay in order to finish her program as well as her internship, in hopes to return back home and find a job in her specialty.
History Since Outbreak: For days, almost weeks, Preslee had chosen to stay locked up in her home. The worst had happened and the world only seemed to be going further into hell. Preslee had boarded up as many windows as she could and she remained within the second story of her house as much as possible in order to not draw attention on herself. She could hear screams and snarls from outside but fought hard against her curiosity. It was when she began to run out of nonperishable food that Preslee was forced to leave her home to find more food. Taking what she could from her father’s old chest, she was able to grab a machete he used at an expedition and a pistol that was hitting inside a mattress. She recalled as her father would always mention how much American’s loved their guns.
Venturing out into the world, the young woman did not know where to start. She deemed it impossible and nearly locked herself back up, except for the fact that she would surely starve to death. Without knowing what exactly what to do, Preslee forced her legs to take her to the nearest gas station, her nerves on edge the entire time. She would jump at the smallest noises up until she got to the store, her hand shaking with the pistol in it. The gas station was cleared of from humans inside of it, and there were no signs of those flesh eating monsters, so she decided to go inside. Almost everything had been cleared out except for a couple cans of lentils, and a few packets of ramen. Preslee thanked her lucky stars and began to shove everything she could into her backpack. Underneath the counters people had clumsily dropped bottles of water which she gladly took as well. When she decided that the food could last her a week, Prelsee decided to head back to her home. No need to push her luck.
As Preslee jogged back home, she began to notice things that were not there before, much like cars with broken windows and homes with their doors wide open. On her way to the store she had positively made sure that nothing was open so that there would be no way of her being scared or chased from. That’s when she realized that there were gangs roaming through her street, breaking into homes, one of them being her own. Preslee’s heart sank as she saw the gangs rip the wooden boards down from her windows and break in. What if she had been in there? Disheartened, Preslee waited until the gangs were gone, seeing the disaster that they had left behind. Fortunately, the idiots had not gone into her detached garage, they merely stayed in the main house. Grabbing what little they had left behind, the blonde woman decided to go up north, taking her Jeep up until it could not go any further.
For endless days and nights, Preslee followed her compass north, spending as much time as she could in empty warehouses or abandoned homes. At one point she had fallen into a small group of people where the women had urged her to stay. It was quiet for the first few nights until the men started showing their true colors. She then saw the group for what they truly were, sex traffickers. Lured in by promised protection and shelter, then kept chained like an animal for months on end. She held a lot of anger inside of her as she was abused, the women around her trying to apologize for their actions. Preslee did not want to be angry, they were doing what needed to be done to stay alive. She tried to reason with herself that at least they were keeping her alive, but that was not the life that she wanted. She had lost track of the time and the days that she had been with them, having fallen into a routine. It wasn’t until one evening she encouraged a young man to let her go to the restroom because it was that time of the time. He had been new, and foolishly undid Preslee’s handcuffs. She walked over to her backpack, grabbed her knife, and quickly turned to stab him in the neck with it. A miracle from god, truly. Grabbing her stuff as quickly as she could, Preslee snuck out of her tent in the middle of the night and never looked back.
