Beatrice Decker

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Beatrice nodded, looking at Alexander as he asked her if she knew Froggy. "He was a member of the Newnan settlement," she said simply, not giving any indication as to what Froggy's occupation had been. He was just a face from the past and if he wanted to be someone new, so be it. She had given the same curtsey to the members of her group when she introduced them to Ash, giving names only, so she would do the same for Froggy. "His name is Victor," she then added to Alexander. As amusing as the Froggy nickname was, she figured that being introduced as Froggy wasn't going to be as helpful in this situation. People didn't get a chance to make a first impression for the first time all over again. Still, from the way the Newnan group had been behaving, Beatrice doubted that they would be able to integrate into Mexico Beach. They still thought of themselves as Newnan - and that was the problem.

"All the codenames... It's almost like a comic," Beatrice mused to her companion, before she went and took a seat. She wasn't going to keep this General person waiting and she could see Tatiana's husband trying his best to get her and Froggy off the ground and into a seat. She didn't need to see anything else to know that Tatiana was the alpha in that family dynamic. She wore the pants so to speak. As she sat on the couch and waited, Beatrice kept her eyes on the door, wondering as to what sort of person this General would turn out to be. If they were another relative of Thana, she also had to wonder if it would cause another fight to break out between Tatiana and Ash. It would be mildly amusing. However, the screaming that had resulted? She wasn't a fan of it - purely because of how Alexander had been tormented by it.

Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Jack's mind was reeling, still unable to process the sight in front of him. Even with the assurances from everyone around that Froggy was really there, he found himself unable to believe it. Maybe his hallucinations had gotten so powerful that he wasn't even aware of what people were really saying? Of course, he hadn't hallucinated since the day that Newnan fell, so maybe it was something to do with the safety of a settlement? He still was unaware that it had been something geological and not mental that caused that break. His heart ached slightly as he remembered the dear friend he had escaped Newnan with that day - Tiffany. People rarely talked about her and Ray anymore, but Ray had been his best friend, his best man.

He was stunned and shocked as Tatiana ran across the room and didn't instantly fall down. Froggy was solid and real and alive. It felt like an out of body experience as he walked across the room to Froggy and his wife, holding Jamie in his arms. It was like he was watching this happen to someone else, that this wasn't his life. He was vaguely aware of Ash telling Riley to go off, even though Riley had gone to sit down with Amelia already, and Jack took a slight breath. They needed to get into seats before the General or whoever it was got there. He had his son in one hand and from what he could tell, Froggy wasn't in the best shape.

"Solovey? D-Froggy? We gotta get off of the flooh," Jack told them gently. Slightly fearing that he might end up getting punched by Tatiana for ending this moment, he then proceeded to assist them in any way he could to get them over to the couch, all while keeping a hold on Jamie.

Victor Bonheur

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: (Inside Quarantine: W) Conference Room
Skills: N/A

Victor reached out for his family and he heard Jack call him Dad and Tatiana call him Papa and he saw little Jamie, in his father's arms for the first time and Victor's heart swelled almost to bursting point. He then heard another familiar voice, a Southern droll that he used to have late night meetings with and the occasional game of cards when the mood took them both. To see his old friend was also safe and sound almost had Victor going over the edge of no return and becoming the biggest baby in the room. He turned and saw him there, he didn't look too bad all things considered but he had a nasty gash on his cheek that looked fairly fresh. He chuckled at Ashton's response to seeing him again but before Victor could do more than wonder what he might say or ask, Tatiana was in front of him, dropping down to her knees to greet him on the floor and his arms opened up before she fell straight against him. He pulled her closer as she clung to get in tight to him, her body resting on what remained of his lap as he was splayed on the floor just then.

He stroked her hair and kissed her on the head, whispering "Malyshka" to her over and over. Nothing was getting in between them just now and they kept examining one another, as if to make sure they were really there. Victor wanted to hug Jack too, and Ashton, and little Jamie but they could wait until after Tatiana had had her fill. Everyone would get their chance. When Victor then heard Atticus's voice again with his room assignment, Victor smiled brightly and nodded. He'd be rooming with Jack and Jamie! But where was Tatiana going to be? His brow furrowed as he contemplated what was happening and then he remembered it was a very structured community. They were keeping men and women separate at night. He didn't personally feel it was fair to separate a mother from her child however, but he would voice that concern later when the time was right. Now was not that time.

Nodding to Atticus, Victor gently rubbed Tati's arms and then brushed her hair out of her face, his eyes looking in to hers as he spoke. "Come now, darling girl, we do not want to meet zee leader of this community on zee floor. 'ow about we go sit on zee sofa, oui?" He wiped some tears from her face gently with his thumbs. He was then surprised as Riley appeared out of nowhere and hugged him whilst he was still on the floor. "Riley. Merci." His words were a little brisk, they had been cordial to one another in Newnan and got on just fine but he did not think they were the hugging type as she was never his cup of tea personality speaking and they had never grown close. He also barely recognised her without her hair - he would have to ask why she was emulating the late Sinead O'Connor another time. When he saw her walk off towards her seat he gasped as he saw Amelia there, and when they kissed he blinked. He had not pictured them both together but he was happy for them. Amelia and he had been friends in Newnan, chatting about books and he trying to help her learn French. He was glad she was safe too.

As there were so many people from Newnan, his eyes roamed the room as he looked for Kris but he did not find her. He knew it was too much to hope that he would find everyone. His eyes welled again but he fought the new floods back, using what little strength he had left. Gathering his composure again after the abrupt crash to reality that was the strange hug from Riley, Victor heard Ashton speaking and he blinked as he mentioned something about Riley getting the same imprint on her face as he did on his from Tatiana's wedding ring?! "Do not be absurd, Ashton. Tatiana would never 'urt a fly!" Despite his protests against the lies Ashton spoke of Tatiana, he appreciated the subtle telling off he had given Riley for interrupting them just then. He would thank him for that properly later.

When Jack spoke again, this time addressing him as Froggy, Victor smiled at him and nodded. Gently stroking Tatiana's hair again, Victor smiled as he spoke softly to her. "Your 'usband is right, we really should. Care to 'elp 'im get an old man up?" He gently pulled himself away, letting Tatiana slip off of his lap and onto the floor. With the help from both his children, Victor and Tatiana were now up from the floor. Victor adjusted his robe slightly to stop the breeze he was feeling in his nethers and then enveloped them both in a hug carefully - ensuring he did not scare or hurt Jamie in any way. Kissing them both on the cheek and petting Jamie's hair lightly, Victor looked to the area that Atticus had motioned to earlier when he had spoken of food. He turned to the man and shook his hand. "Thank you, Atticus."

Walking carefully over to Ashton, he then hugged him too - whether he liked it or not - and patted him as roughly on the back as he could (which wasn't much!). "I am sorry I did not call or write. The phone and postal services are just shocking around 'ere. 'onestly we should speak to someone about zat." Smirking, he hugged him again before pulling away. "Eet is very good to see you, Ashton. We'll talk soon." His eyes spotted the table of food that was waiting for him, he felt his mouth salivating at the thought of all of that being his to put inside himself. He moved over to the sofa and sat himself down carefully on the seat before chowing down on his meal. He planned on savouring every single bite of it. When all you had known for months was hunger, you had to be careful to not gorge. Victor made sure to take his time and relished in each bit that slid down his throat. He didn't even care what it was, it was better than what little he'd been living on.

He would speak with everyone properly after the leader of the community had visited them in the conference room. He also wanted to make a point to meet the new faces when the time felt right. He would start with the other man they were to be sharing a room with, this Alexander. He was uncertain who he was as he had been too wrapped up in his family reunion to really pay attention to where Atticus had gestured earlier on and he hadn't quite been able to take in all the faces that he didn't know so far. He wasn't a fan of people in general but while they were all in the same quarantine predicament, it only made sense to at least be on speaking terms with them if they were so inclined. However, this was all for a later date, for now he planned to get fed, watered and informed whilst being with his loved ones.

Year 5: End Of Day Update

Date: July 15th, 2012
Map in Original OOC post - NPC's In CS Tab

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: H6 (Quarantine: W)

Temperature: 94F (34C)
Humidity: Fucking High (Around 98%) - Raining off and on all day
Wind Speed: 7 MPH (11 KPH)
Cloud Coverage: About 51% covered with thick dark clouds

Atticus stood up and covered his mouth. "Patience if a virtue...." he muttered slightly watching the scene.

Panama chuckled. "Not right now it isn't," he laughed. Atticus shrugged and walked back to the front of the room and started straightening up things. They would need to roll out the meal cart once the general was done doing his thing. Panama took point back by the door and watched the room. The Major just stood there, watching Tatiana. Doc just rubbed his face and glanced towards Maddoc and sighed before flipping through the paper that Victor had handed him.

"Who knows French?" he asked.

"Auntie," Major said.

"Oh riiight! Thanks," he said before motioning for Maddoc, they were done there and were ready to head out as the others were taking their seats. Looking back around his face squished up a bit. "Call me if anyone kills someone," he said before patting Panama on the shoulder and heading out of the door with Maddoc. The door swinging closed behind him.

"Glad we're not on nightshift," Panama quipped and Major gave a slight nod. Someone else would take over for them overnight so they could get some sleep as well. It had been a long day and her and the others still had to file reports. Paperwork survived the apocalypse.

There was the slightest of taps at the door to the conference room. Both Panama and Major's head turning slightly and nodding at each other. Panama stepped to the side as Major reached over and opened the door. The gentle sound of a cane clicking against the floor echoed as an older gentleman walked into the room. He was dressed in white cotton slacks and shirt with tan loafers on his feet. He couldn't have been more than five foot nine inches in height and had to be the eldest that had been in to see the group as of yet. He had a gentle look on his face as he walked in, unlike most that had come through the door, and didn't seem to carry himself like a military person. "Hello," he would say, in a faded accent from somewhere in the British Isles, with a nod from time to time to those he passed as he walked to the front of the room and sought out a chair to sit down in. His eyes were bright though, like crystal blue water, and they sparkled slightly with his smile. Those eyes were so familiar to anyone that had met a Martin in the past. Yet, only one person from their quarantined group in the room had seen them like this, happy.

"Good evening," he added as he sat down and rested his cane against the table next to him. "Well, yes, before we get started I suppose I should introduce myself." He spoke slowly and with purpose. A voice like a grandfather about to tell a bedtime story. "Well I'm Aeron, Mr. Martin to most, and well what you have probably heard referred to as The General." He shrugged a bit as he clapped his hands together in his lap softly. "I, well I am in charge of the camp. I wouldn't dare say run because that is left to the younger folk but yes, I am well 'the main man' as Panama over there calls me," he said pointing at Panama with a chuckle. "My you all do look as you have had a long time of it but I hope you at least do feel a little better now that you have been fed and showered," he said as he leaned back in his chair and draped an arm over the back of it. "These walls, I know, not the most welcoming of ways but they serve a purpose. We didn't used to use them, at least not for this. First weeks after the outbreak, this was the original home to some of us," he said in memory induced voice. "Myself, my sons, Elizabeth over there," he said pointing towards Major. "And some others." Rubbing his chin slightly. "Dark times. Dark times indeed were those first weeks. Not knowing what was happening. Not knowing what would happen."

Sighing and shaking his head he looked over the group slowly. "I'm sure you all have similar memories. Isn't that how we are though? As humans I mean. We forget so much over the years but then, there are specific times, moments, that are so clearly etched in our mind that if you were asked you could tell the very moment, the sounds around you, the smells, down to the last detail." Crossing an ankle over his knee he looked towards different people. "The moment you were called to war," he said looking at Alexander. "The day a child was born," he added looking over at Tatiana. "Or when you fell in love," he finished looking at Ash. The man seemed to go off into thought, perhaps remembering a time that stuck out to him. "Or the day you saw what it meant to be truly dedicated to something beyond all else."

Rubbing his chin, his eyes blinked. They were the same shade as his son's. As others... Family eyes that each generation had had before him and since but there would be no more passed this moment. Taking a breath he watched his youngest son at his post. He looked weary, far older than he should have even for what most would refer to as a senior citizen. Granted he was no spring chicken himself. He was far passed his prime. He hadn't been a young man for half a century. Yet, there were somethings that aged men faster than anything else ever could and it was obvious his youngest had dealt with his fair share of burdens that should never be placed on a fathers shoulders.

"Has he left his post?" he asked as he stood there, watching through the small window. He doubted he had gone unnoticed. His son missed little but he was unacknowledged and that was enough.

"Only that once when Maddoc took over for an hour." It was the answer he had expected. He didn't like it and hoped he had been wrong. He hadn't. "This isn't healthy, you know that. It has been weeks now and he needs to do something else besides just stand watch."

"You wish that I tell him this." It wasn't a question, it was a statement. One that was doubly confirmed.

"Yes, I do. He won't listen to me, to anyone. You're his father.." His words were cut off with a guffaw. Not a joyous one but an incredulous one from the eldest man.

"And you think that bears any weight in this situation?"

The mans lips thinned as he shoved a clip board under his arm. "Then give him a direct order as his commanding officer. He needs to rest. He will break if this keeps up much longer."

Looking over at the man he chuckled. "You do not know my son very well. When we hurt we must stand vigil over the things we care about, else we lose ourselves to the darkness within. Give him the time he needs. He has earned this post more than any other. That is a direct order." Towards the end his voice was firm as he spoke. He looked at his son through the small window once again before walking off. There was a loud huff as the other turned and walked the opposite direction.

He seemed to come out of the thought only a few seconds later before clearing his throat. "Or even the day you saw a helicopter for the first time in a life time," he said with the barest of chuckles. Then his face saddened. "Life, it is difficult. Outside of our walls or inside. Problems, well yes, they will follow us no matter where we go. As does death. Are we cursed? Perhaps. Perhaps those of us that are alive are cursed to forever regret our choices." He paused for a moment before looking at them and holding up a finger slowly. "Then again, we still can hope can we not? For without hope we cannot live, we merely survive. We must live and, to live we must embrace what is out there and also what is within ourselves."

The mans hands moved as he spoke. Like a bard from old times weaving a tale. "The light and the dark. We must seize those precious moments. The little things that surround us. Those memories. Treasures really. The way someone smiles or how their eyes light up. The sound of a laugh or the song of a sparrow. Yes, tender memories are all we truly can hold onto and we must lest it all be for nothing." There was a shrug as he rubbed his chin again. "Time makes old fools of us all, if we are lucky enough." Swallowing he looked back to the group. "But enough of an old mans rambling. I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. You should get some sleep. It is a long week ahead but try not to feel bad. We've all spent our time within these walls."

Picking up his cane he stood slowly and then started to feel around. Patting his pockets he looked as if he had lost something. "Hrm, um, before I go, which one of you is Captain Holloway?" he asked. Panama motioned towards Ash. "Oh yes, right, thank you Eric," he said with a nod as he pulled out from his front shirt pocket a small piece of thick paper that was laying flat. The side one could see seemed faded and yellowed with age, the edges frayed and worn. One could not see the other. "I was told you were the one that brought in my grand-daughters dog tags. Um, yes, a significant gesture indeed." Stepping towards Ash slowly Aeron held the paper out to him. "Perhaps this will bring you some comfort, I know she would want you to have it," he said as he handed it over.

Giving the man a pat on the shoulder, he waited a moment to see the mans reaction before smiling solemnly and nodding to him. "Well, goodnight everyone," he said before making his way back towards the door. The sound of his cane clicking on the floor as he went. Panama reached over and opened the door for the man. "See you after guard change," he said with a smile before the door closed behind him. Atticus stood up from where he was sitting and yawned deeply. Stretching his hands above his head.

"Alright folks, grab your bags, let's get you to your rooms for the night." Atticus headed over to the door and waited for everyone. Once everyone was ready to go, he led them out of the conference room and down the hallway. Panama walking next to him and Major pulling up the rear as the last person walked out of the conference room. "Remember, the water in the tubs doesn't work, but the toilets and sink it does. Doors are locked over night and a guard will be patrolling. Come morning your doors will be unlocked and you'll be woken for shower, clothing change, and breakfast. All that jazz. If there is an emergency, just bang on your door, the guard will hear ya'."

Each set of people was shown to a room. The rooms were all the same and they were interior rooms so there was no window looking out and there was no adjoining room doors. The only way out was through the door they would enter. Once each group was in their assigned rooms, the door was shut and the locked. They were alone now with their roomies and tomorrow was another day.

*Alright peeps, time to hit the hay. Last round for the day. Tatiana Newnan

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room -> Bedroom 1)
Skills: Psychology

Tatiana heard the general was coming but she didn't let go, not yet. It had been too long since she had seen Victor. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. People were not found again, not really. Clinging to him like a lost child she continued to hug him. Riley decided to poke in there and hug the man while Tatiana was still clung to him. Whatever Tatiana thought of the whole situation, it was unknown. Her face didn't change and she didn't say anything. Seemed Ash had a thing or two to say about it. She only heard the first part but again, she didn't outwardly react. She had thoughts on the situation but she kept them to herself.

Turning her attention back to Victor, she nodded and slowly got up. At Victors insistence she wouldn't hurt a fly, she smiled innocently towards the man she called Papa. "Da, vould never hurt a fly," she said in a bubbly tone. Glancing towards Ash, Tatiana stuck her tongue out at the man. There was a slight smirk on her lips. She hadn't hurt a fly, she had knocked a Captain on his ass. There was a vast difference. Walking back to the couch she stood by Jack.

Swallowing slightly as she whispered against her husbands ear. "Suka snova peresekayet menya, i ya zakonchu yeye." Tatiana smiled sweetly at her husband and bopped her son on the nose. Jamie giggled and tried to grab his mothers finger. Taking a breath she sat down and waited, this general fellow was supposed to be there any minute. Tatiana wondered what the man was like. What to expect. Sitting there she rubbed her hands together in thought. She wished Thana was there, she didn't really know the woman. Only meeting her at the wedding reception but she liked her. At least the old Tatiana liked her back then. If anything, she seemed to be able to put Ash at ease. Looking over to Ash she wondered what he would do now. Thana wasn't here, he wasn't in charge anymore. He wouldn't be a leader here. If she didn't have Jack and Jamie there was a chance she wouldn't even try to stay here.

As the General came in she watched the man closely. Wrapping her arms around herself as she sat there and listened to what he had to say. His way of speaking seemed to lull her in. Something about his accent maybe, or just the way he acted, she wasn't sure but she could listen to the man speak for hours. So he was Gunny and Maddog's dad? And Thana's grandfather? Explained the eyes. That was a heavy family trait it seemed. Yet, he didn't act like either of them in her mind. And nothing like the Thana she had met. That woman had acted more like Gunny most of the time, and a little Maddog. At least from what little she had known of the woman. She had only spoken to her at the reception since Thana had ended up being Ash's date that night.

When it was over, her head tilted to the side, wondering what the man had given Ash but she didn't pry. She could pry later. Looking over at Atticus she nodded and grabbed her bag. It was time to go to her room. Walking over to Victor she hugged him and then gave Jack and Jamie a kiss. "Take care of each other, mommies going to get some much needed sleep. Maybe first since Nevnan," she said before falling in line. She wasn't worried about being apart from Jamie tonight. Alexander didn't seem the type to cause a problem. Victor would protect Jamie and Jack would kill for him.

Following Atticus to her room she walked into the room and glanced around. Taking note of things. Grabbing a pillow off the bed closest to the door and the top blanket Tatiana made her way over to the large chair and pulled over a smaller one, setting her things down next to her. Getting comfortable she put her feet up in the other chair. She ignored one of her room mates completely but glanced towards the other. "Ve can start dance tomorrov," she said in passing before closing her eyes as one hand slipped into her pocket. There she would sleep for tonight, tomorrow would only tell if she stayed there.

Wayne Maldonado

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room -> Bedroom 3)
Skills: N/A

Wayne chuckled a bit. The main man. He liked that. Seemed this general fellow would be there soon. That was good. Wayne wasn't exactly a people person, to say the least. Turning in for the night sounded good. He could use some sleep. Especially in a bed and not out under the heat. It was something he was looking forward too. Sure he had to share a room but it wasn't anything he hadn't done before. He knew Hank, since before the outbreak. And Nigel, well they had been together with Erica for the last several months, so having him in the bunk was no big deal. In fact to him it was better than the alternatives. At least these two he knew. They had all shared more than their fair share of floors and hold ups for the last months. Shit, the first time they met Hank and himself had helped save one of them and take care of a group of walkers. Sure, he understood why people didn't like him. He was an ass but Hank, he was a good guy over all. A bit rough sure as fuck but damn, those two seemed to hate Hank for no damn good reason. Fucking kids.

Looking over at Hank, Wayne smirked and grinned. "Fuck yeah, I'd drop and give her twenty," he said with a laugh thinking back on the woman who was called Daytona. Sure she was older but she was more his age than some of these young blokes. He wondered what she looked like in a sweater. He figured she nailed it. Laughing he shook his head at Hanks mentioning of those Lifetime movies. "Yeah, like those fucking Daniel Steele romance novels my wife used to buy from the drug store," he said and made puking motion.

Glancing back over towards the Family Reunion over there he blurted out a laugh hearing only the first part of what Captain Ass-Got-Kicked said to the one half of the Sinead O'Connor twins. He watched, expecting the little momma to jump the woman like a bear. But she didn't. "Huh," he said quietly as he watched her walk back over to her husband and child. That woman was full of surprises. He had to hand it to her, she kept her cool better than he did half the time. Screw that, most of the time. He wondered if she was up to anything and if she was, damn he wanted to watch it go down. Since there were no new shows on TV these days, real life drama was the next best thing. Oh well, maybe another time, time for that general dude to show up. He did snicker at the whole wouldn't hurt a fly thing. Yeah, she was completely harmless. How long had it been since this man was around the little fire cracker?

Hoping out of his chair he looked at the crowd watching the movie. "Sorry folks, seems like a good time for an intermission," he said before pausing the movie right at the screeching eels. It was a good scene. Not exactly one he wanted to miss. Flopping back down in his chair, he slowly turned it a bit more so he could see better towards the main area of the room where anyone else from this town had stepped over to, so they could talk. He figured this general fellow would be going back up there to do his little speech or what have you. "Well let's get this show on the fucking road, I got Z's to catch," he said with a toothy grin as he grabbed at the air again and shoved his hand back under his butt.

The general came in and did his thing. He had to give the man this, he could talk. Nice talk. It was over now. Looking over towards Ash as the man left the room. "Well fuck, seems someone is already on Mr. General's good side," he said under his breath towards Hank with a grin. He had no idea what the man had given Ash but he had gotten something. Grabbing his shit he followed Atticus out the door. Once in the room, Wayne didn't give two shits what it looked like. Dropping his bag at the foot of the bed furthest from the door he grinned. "Night you fuckers, daddies gotta get some Z's," he said as he clapped his hands together and rubbed them. It was just after that, that Wayne went full belly flop on the bed, face in the middle of the bed, spread eagle like some drunken snow angel, taking up the whole damn thing. There was a slight moan, a loud and long fart that caused the back of his shirt to flutter, a sigh of relief, and then gentle snoring into the pillow. Wayne was out fucking cold.

Amelia Payne

Location:Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room ->Bedroom 2)
Skills: N/A

Amelia was really glad that Froggy was here now. She was a little bit nervous when Riley went for a hug when Froggy was also hugging his Newnan Family consisting of Tati, Jack and now Jamie. Luckily nothing bad happened, she a lil bit was woried of Tati's reaciton, but she didn't do anything, though eventually the Russian woman acted a little bit childishly to Ash when Froggy defended her. Yeah maybe there were some of the old Tati there? Anyways Amelia blushed a little when Riley returned to her and gave her a kiss. She nodded at her lover and then looked at Froggy, waiting until they crossed eyes and gave him a welcoming smile. She and him got along well back in Newnan. Hopefully they can once more, but it appeared there wasn't even going to be time for htem to talk as they were told the general was arriving.

The man whom they called General, was not what Amelia expected actually. Maybe she was just a tad bit naive and had watched too many movies, but she expected uniform, medals, hat, optional black glasses and moustache. The old man was nothing like what his nickname suggested, but he held the respect of those people or they wouldn't call him that right?

He then proceeded to give out a speech, maybe it was a welcoming speech, Amelia couldn't be quite sure. It sounded to her vaguely as one. Though he seemed ot have been the father of the Gunny person and grand father of Thana. He was different from the rest of his family. At least at first impression. She didn't speak out while he was there, she just listened. Gave a little bit of a thankful nod when he bid them goodnight though.

Finally they were told to get moving after grabbign their bags. The worst moment had arrived. Riley couldn't help it as she went to grab her bag, she placed the book from where she took it. Then with her bag she joined the people heading for hte rooms. She moved to Froggy." Glad to see you again. Let's talk more tomorrow, okey?" She said with happy voice to him. He was probably the one she could most easily get along with aside the singer. Time was short though so she moved along and walked to Riley before htey reached the rooms. Gave her a quick hug." We... will be fine. Let's get some rest... okey?" She said to Riley, trying to keep some optimism and make sure Riley would be feeling better about this too. Only then did she hop back to her room and entered it before the door got locked. She was rooming with Beatrice and Erica, but Amelia wasn't sure what to do now.

Inside the room she found out that the room only had two beds. She wasn't sleeping in a bed with someone else and suspeted they wouldn't either. She especially wasn't sure how to act with Beatrice, sure they were in Newnan together, but she never was sure how to act with that woman. Now there was also a completely new person. Amelia by habit reached to play with her hair since she was nervous, but realized she didn't have hair now... This brought her back to reality as she took a deep breath and walked, picking up a blanket and a pillow. Amelia didn't want to fight with people over the beds. Thus she just placed the blanket and pillow on the big chair before she pulled the clothes from the bag and changed into them. There wasn't much use of being shy about it, cause well they bathed together... Once that was done, she placed the gown into the bag and tied it up, before sitting down in the big chair and wrapped herself in the blanket. She didn't speak out, she just turned to one side, and closed her eyes. She was tired... Hopefully she would fall asleep fast and that way the night would pass in a moment, allowing her to reunited with Riley in the morning. She will also get to talk with Froggy. Maybe... practice some french or talk books... yeah. With those thoughts in her mind, the stress and fatigue finally caught up to her as she was drifting off to sleep. She wasn't going to move from this spot unless something happened.

Emanuel "Manny" Newman

The whole situation was heart warming. Watching this reunion was more proof in Manny's mind that the world could be a kind place if given time. Sure, he didn't know any of these people, not really, but just seeing them happy gave him more hope for the world. Most of the reunion was ended because the General figure was about to arrive. Manny was still nervous about this after hearing about how things worked here. With that sounded like a military dictatorship a lot of things would depend on who this General was. Manny still had a lot of trouble deciding how he felt about this place.

The General wasn't anything like he expected. Sure he wasn't sure what he expected completely, but at closest, he figured an officers uniform, Someone who spoke sharply maybe. But this man seemed like someone Manny might have spend time with before the world ended. Soft spoken, calm, and overall very delightful. He spoke briefly of the history of the place, and he explained the fear of the first few weeks. Manny remembered those times well. The stadium, the parking lot, the times that followed. That first woman outside his office. The way her head tore to pieces from the buckshot... It was dark times for everyone. He can only imagine what it was like for those here when things broke out. Manny had protection from the national guard for a few days, but not long. He wondered what this place was like in the early days, everyone here trying to fend for themselves. From the looks of things, they pulled through above and beyond.

The man's speech was impressive, Manny felt like this was someone he could follow and trust. Manny felt that this man was just what he needed to meet to trust this place. Sure, Manny would need to see how life was here once outside of quarantine, but meeting this man, the man in charge, It was just the boost Manny needed to believe that this place wasn't a military dictatorship. That some form of regular life could take place. It was a good start and Made Manny happy.

When the General left, it was time for everyone to go to their rooms. Manny made his way out to his room. Seemed that Ash or Hunter hadn't made their way in yet. The room was simple, Manny had seen plenty of them in his years and this seemed about the same. The exception being the lock that will be keeping them in their rooms tonight. Manny was tired, chatting with Ash was going to be pretty low on his to do list tonight. He was an old man who needed his rest, and for the first time in what seemed like forever, it was a real bed. He sat himself on the bed closest to the door and found himself dozing off fast. God, he missed real sleep.

Private Hunter James Monroe

Location: Quarantine --> Room 4

Whatever emotions Hunter was feeling aside, it was time for The General to come in. Hunter's experience with most officers tended to be on the negative side. Most reminded him of his father on his worst days. Others ordered him to lock doors with people behind them and open fire when he didn't want to. This man... seemed noting like most officers he had met. This man reminded him of his first lieutenant. A calm man with a warm heart. Though as he didn't look like the man that suffered from eating the barrel of a Beretta Hunter guessed they weren't that much alike. Though meeting the man, Hunter was given the sense that maybe this place wasn't too bad.

The General, an old man who resembled a sweet grandpa, spoke of the early days. How hard they were for everyone. Hunter couldn't deny that. The early weeks for him consisted of his first, and only deployment in the National Guard. It was hell, every step of the way. And never really got better since. The speech was motivational none the less. He still had more he had to decide about this place. But that would be for a later day. Once the speech was done he got up so he could go to his room.

Room 4 was his. Shared with Manny the old man, and Ash the Captain. Two beds, and the door locked from the outside. Fun. He took the chair and used his bathrobe as a blanket. Before he sat down to sleep he moved the chair so he could see the door from where he got comfortable. Not far, just a couple feet towards the main walkway. Then he sat in the chair watching the door. Waiting in case anyone barged in. He would nod off eventually, but not for a while. He wanted to be sure everyone else in the room was asleep, no matter what, he was exhausted, so he would be out in about an hour and a half. He would have more nightmares, but without Izibell to help him out of it, he was in a quiet panic through the night. Never yelling, but clearly upset. This was a new place for him, and a place he was scared about it's future. He was worried about his dog, and he was stressed from these new people. He just needed to make it a week, then he figured he should be fine.

Alexander Polawski

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room -> Bedroom 5)
Skills: N/A

Alexander looked back up at Manny as he assured him they would go gently on Hunter, though giving it no more words for now. It wasn't in his athority to choose how to treat the others, that was certainly that of the soon-to-arrive General, so there wasn't much else to say. But he was glad Manny listened to him, as if his opinion actually mattered. As if his experience was worth something, as if Hunter was redeemable. Was he himself that? Only time would tell. Alexander looked up at Beatrice as she in turn answered his question in regards to the new man at the epicenter of a very touching scene. "Victor…I'll try to remember that. " Alexander repeated after her, giving the man a good look, though not questioning his details anymore. "It's the military-way of doing it, you know. Keeps it easy to distinguish one another and harder for Charlie. Even mine sounded like a comic…"

He stopped at those words, both not wanting to elaborate on his past with Beatrice as per their usual, friendly agreement that he very muched enjoyed, but also at the final arrival of the man himself. The General. There was something about that man, something that stood out to Alexander as he walked in on his cane, sat down and began talking to them. At first it was only his apperance, especially his eyes that was familiar to the old veteran, who couldn't quite place him. But as he spoke, the old man with the cane became all too real to Alexander. Even more so when he spoke directly to him.

The Dragon.

Aeron Martin was all too correct in his words; some memories was burnt into your mind for the rest of your life, as clear as glass. More so that Alexander wished that he had. Alexander's focus started to return as the General's opening remarks was being wrapped up, at the very end Ash being given something. A piece of paper? And like that, he had left them, and then it was their turn to leave the same room. Sleep. Yes, that sounded as good as anything. Alexander pushed himself carefully out of his chair, steadied himself on his redneck-pegleg as he grabbed his things, and followed the group to their rooms. Alexander didn't care for anything bad said about the rooms, the sole though of a good bed was more than Alexander could have wished for. Both his young self and old self dreamed of sleeping in a soft, dry bed for years.

"Okay then…Good night everyone…" Alexander said to his own group; Beatrice, Thalia and Manny, though the gesture was not exclused of others. It felt odd to say now that they might actually have a good night. No fear of walkers or bandits, no hard and cold concrete floors, just a good bed. Alexander limped inside the bedroom alongside Jack with little Jamie, trying to give them enough space. He didn't want to be intrusive or anything, especially not after what Jack's wife had done earlier, or the kid might get scared. As Jack got the playpen for his son over to one of the beds, Alexander limped over to the empty bed and sat down on the softest god damned matress he'd sat on for years. But there were still more to be done, as he started changing into a good pair of underwear. "Ehm, Victor was it? Name's Alexander…good to meet you. In case…I don't know." Alexander started, but was at a loss of words when trying to make conversation. He was tired, too tired to talk with Victor. Alexander, now sitting in a fresh pair of underpants and taking off the pegleg, looking up at Victor one last time. "Good night, I guess…call if you anything, you two."

And with that, Alexander shuffled around in a bed he had almost no idea of how to sleep it. It felt so out-of-place to lie they and not listen to every sound that echoed around them, but he had to try. He had to focus, focus really hard on just lying there in bed and trying to sleep, facing away from Jack and Victor's bed as he tried to shut his eyes. He tried. He tried. He tried and tried, but he couldn't. The black lump, it had clung tightly to his chest the entire evening, but by sheer willpower and soldierly discipline had it been subdued. But now that he was trying to relax, it finally popped. The black lump was released from it's cage and spread throughout Alexander's entire body, a poison that Alexander had tried to grow immune to over the years but always failed. There was no stopping it. Alexander tried to stop it one last time, his hands grabbing tightly around the pillow and holding it firmly over his face in a futile attempt to stop the unstopable.

Tears.

Sobbing.

Crying.

Muffled by the pillow and by what little strength Alexander had, after it all had came crashing down on the old veteran, the entire evening, day, week, month, year, apocalypse and life, he cried himself slowly to sleep.

Nigel "Hadrian" Cooper

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room -> Bedroom 3)
Skills: N/A

"Oh you know me, I will." Nigel "Hadrian" said with a smirk back to his friend, knowing that there probably wouldn't be any of that happening that night. They had shared sleeping quarters before, even if they had been as ad-hoc as they could be, but they had lived together. Nigel didn't have to particularly like either Hank or Wayne, but they'd had each other's back before they reached the safety of Mexico Beach's walls, and there would have to be more than a fart-filled room to break down Nigel's Roman walls. Thankfully he wouldn't have to sleep with the fear of sufficating from Wayne's bodily smells.

Nigel looked at Erica for a moment and gave her a nod as she said the group on the floor must have known each other. "Yeah. It's nice that something happy for once. We can only wish it would happen more often…" Nigel "Hadrian" said without much weight to his words. It was just nice to see a sight that brough a smile upon one's face for once, it gave people hope. Erica turned down the volume and Nigel was spoken to by Thalia. He breathed out, half-expecting her to fulfill what had become a self-invoking prophecy of him becoming Sportacus, but glad when she corrected herself. "Yeah sure. No problem." he told her, watching her once again walk away from them to tend to to some other business.

That was the time when Nigel continued to passively not pay attention to Hank's snoring and banter with Wayne, as the man they'd been waiting for finally made an appearance. Nigel was neither able nor willing to stop Wayne from pausing the movie, which was one of the very few, if not only good idea Wayne had managed to put together and actually pull off. It was for the best, as his focus was better suited directed at the man who for all intents and purposes was Caesar himself. And he was like nothing Nigel had expected of him. The man was no Scipio Africanus, but rather a St. Peter or someone benevolent or like that. Nigel listened in silence at his speech, listening with respect at his power over the words which he commanded. The General carried himself and his tounge as good as any professional orator or well-minded missionary, Nigel thought, himself not escaping the thought of a memory one could never forget. The first he had to take a life…it was an undead life, but still…it was awful, but it hardened him and made him a survivor.

Nigel couldn't help but give the General a smile of approval as he spoke of hope. "Hope is the pillar that holds up the world." Nigel "Hadrian" said under his breath, continuing to listen to the speech before the General finished it up, handed something to Ashton, and the whole room slowly began to leave for their bedrooms. Nigel quickly made his way over to the VCR, ejected the VHS and placed it back in its cover. It was one of the upsides of the old tapes, and one of the downsides; when you took it out, it stopped right where you paused, and could continue the next viewing. Nigel grabbed his bags like the others, and followed them outside with Atticus for their rooms. "Good night Erica, sleep tight. See you in the morning." Nigel bade farewell to her, giving her one last smile before he followed Wayne into the room. Wayne had already said good night, nose-dived into one of the beds and farted Mount Vesuvius into submission before falling fast asleep. Nigel look at him and shook his head, before getting dressed for sleep as he looked at Hank. "Shared bunks it is then." he said to Hank, laying down at the one side of the bed and resting his head as he slowly faded off to sleep. It was far from ideal, but hey, when in Rome do as Romans? Night, Hank."

Victor Bonheur

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: (Inside Quarantine: W) Conference Room > Bedroom 5
Skills: N/A

It was hard for Victor to not let his eyes constantly wander over to watch Jack, Jamie and Tati. Hell, he even had to stop himself from staring off in Ash's or Amelia's direction. He even found it difficult to not look at Riley. It was equal measures uplifting and devastating to see these familiar faces again. His eyes wandered around the room more, looking for distraction from his inner urges. He spied a few men by the screen, a young woman and a young man sitting together on a sofa. There was the young woman missing the lower half of an arm also. He then spotted two older men and another young woman, one in a chair missing a leg and yet another familiar face, Beatrice. He felt that pang of familiarity again, despite knowing she had no idea about it, not really. She still, even now, reminded him of Zoie. She seemed detached from those from Newnan but more closely linked with the older gentlemen. That was very nice to see. He smiled to himself and moved his sights on, wanting to catch sight of everyone before the General arrived.

His eyes spotted a very young man, alone, holding an empty cup of coffee. He looked in pain and angry, but also sad and lost. He wondered why he was alone but knew he could ask someone later or tomorrow. Before he could think much else there was a tap at the conference room door. Victor resumed his eating - as quietly as he could - while the leader of the community entered the room. The definition of a General he was not, at least not an active service General. A retirement aged one however, perhaps. Victor watched him enter the room with his cane in hand, he seemed the exact opposite of imposing so maybe he wasn't an actual General back in the day. However there was something that made Victor feel on edge. The leader of the group that had killed his wife had been just that, the exact opposite of imposing, but they just knew how to hide the venom within.

Victor struggled to swallow his mouthful of food as he recalled that particular portion of his history, a sheen growing on his forehead as his eyes glazed over. A cough shook him as the dryness in his throat had the food travel in a most uncomfortable manner into his stomach. He covered his mouth and managed to muffle the noise as the "General" spoke. Thankfully his cough wasn't bad and no one should really have noticed it much. He took a drink of juice once his airways cleared. His appetite was gone for now, his focus was on this leader. His words seemed to be exactly what people would want to hear but Victor felt unease that he couldn't explain.

Perhaps it was the familiarity of this older gentleman had with the monster that issued the command to his men to kill Rochelle, or perhaps it was how his voiced lulled you into a sense of comfort without you wanting it to, maybe it was even that Victor just hadn't been around people for so long that all he could remember was the bad, with only those he had built up in his mind being people he felt worthy of trusting. It could even be a combination of all of those things but Victor only knew that he was not comfortable here. He would need to speak to some more people and find out more but he would not be able to do that whilst in Quarantine. He sat back and considered the words the leader had said about treasuring the memories and small moments in this life that they were all stuck in. Victor looked over to the Newnan group and then thought about what might come.

When the "General" left the conference room and bid them goodnight, Victor nodded to himself and then watched him move towards Ashton. Ashton had returned his granddaughter's dog tags? Was that someone they knew mutually? He felt for the "General" however and Victor's heart ached once again. So many lives were lost. Sure, it was part of life now but he still felt each loss, whether he wanted to or not. He thought of the others from Newnan that weren't here, the twins Meg and Sid. Victor recalled Sid's face when he had happened upon his body while digging his way out of the main building after it had collapsed. His mind then wandered to Ray and then he looked at Jack. To think that his son had lost his best friend, a friend that Victor cared for too, Victor would be sure to speak with Jack when the moment was right and see how he was. He wanted to be sure that his family was okay. There were more faces that flashed across his mind as he thought of all the losses, there had been so many.

He was only roused from his depression memory reel when Tati walked over and hugged him. He gave her a squeeze and watched her interact with her family. He smiled to himself and waved farewell to her as she left for her room assignment. When Amelia walked over to him he gave her a wide smile and nodded in response to her question. "Good to see you too, Amelia. Oui, we shall talk tomorrow." He watched as people started to file out of the room. His appetite had returned some and Victor took one more mouthful of food before spotting a bag under the table his food had been on. That must be the clothes Doc had mentioned to him. Licking his lips, Victor grabbed the bag and slipped into the exit queue beside Jack and Jamie. There fellow bed mate Alexander was also with them but Victor was unaware of that fact until they got to the room. Victor hung back a few steps to allow Jack to enter the room first. He then spotted the man with one leg coming to a stop to allow Jack into the room first also, Victor followed in behind Alexander.

Jack had moved to the bed furthest from the door and moved the playpen with him. Multi-tasking father at it's finest, it made Victor smile a little. Alexander went over to the other empty bed and he felt relief, he had not wanted there to be any discomfort or arguing over who would sleep where. Victor would have insisted Alexander had his own bed if there had been, the man deserved a rest as much as any of them but Victor had already won the lottery today. He was happy to forego some comfort for the sake of another person. Spotting the armchair in the corner by Jack's chosen bed, Victor grabbed one of the dining chairs and pulled it over to act as a foot rest by the armchair, the back of it against the wall with the seat facing towards the bed side. Victor plopped his bag of clothes on the dining chair.

When Alexander spoke Victor was walking towards the sink. He stopped in his tracks as he listened to the introduction and when Alexander's voice trailed off, Victor pressed no further. "Yes, Victor. Good to meet you too, Alexander. We'll talk more tomorrow, perhaps?" It was an empty but honest question that required no answer. Victor did not wait for one as Alexander took off his peg leg, Victor walked to the sink and ducked his head down to take a drink from the running tap. Running a hand over this mouth, he let the loose drops run into his beard as he grabbed a blanket and then walked to his armchair, grabbing one of the pillows from Jack's bed. He placed them on his seat and then ducked down to see little Jamie, reaching in to gently stroke his hair as he watched his father.

Standing up and leaving Jack to do his thing, Victor changed into the clothing he was given and slung the robe around the back of the dining chair. He turned to Jack and hugged him. "Sleep well son, we will speak in the morning." He held Jack's face in his hands for a second before planting a kiss on each cheek as he turned and settled himself in his armchair. Resting his feet on the dining chair, he got comfortable and watched Jack as he settled his son down before he'd drift off himself. Victor was in no frame of mind to sleep properly, he knew that, but he also knew that exhaustion and a locked door would result in at least some shut eye even if it was restless. The events of the day were still swirling around his mind and the adrenaline was still coursing through his veins as he closed his eyes and listened to each and every noise that occurred. They may be technically safe, but that didn't stop his brain being on high alert. Newnan had been safe and then the walls came crumbling down.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine) -> (Bedroom 1)
Skills:

Riley looked towards Ashton for a moment and shrugged slightly, if Tatiana wanted to hit her because of it then that would be fine. After she had given Victor a hug, sure they may have not been that close since their time in Newnan, but she didn't think that he would after seeing another familiar face. Riley turned her attention over towards The General as the man came into the room, she leaned back in her seat as she started to listen to the older man starting to speak about himself and nodded. She rubbed the back of her neck slightly while she listened to him. While looking over towards Amelia she was worried that she wouldn't be safe without her, but Riley knew that the guards would make sure that they would be safe.

Riley continued to listen to the General, until they were finished now and then it was time for them all to get some rest as she sighed slightly and stood up and grabbed her things. Riley then started to follow the others out of the room, until they were at the first room, Riley leaned forward and gave her a loving hug and kiss and nodded towards her. "I'll see you in the morning, I love you and sleep well." Riley said towards Amelia as she followed Tatiana into the room and looked around. It looked more than comfortable seeing two full sized beds, she hadn't slept in a nice comfy bed since Newnan which reminded her of her time there as well.

"I'm going to get changed and then crash." Riley said as she quickly turned and entered the bathroom taking off the bathrobes, and went to get changed into the clothes that were provided. She bumbled up the robes and walked into the room again seeing Tatiana went to get herself comfortable, Riley walked over and got herself onto the bed and started to pull the covers over herself. Riley looked towards their other roommate and gave Thalia a slight nod before going to sleep.

Erica Monroe

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine) -> (Bedroom 2)
Skills:

Erica looked towards Hank and rolled her eyes slightly towards him, as soon as the General came into the room, it was rude after all to have a movie on and running while someone was speaking. She wasn't going to answer him while he spoke and the General so far seemed to be fairly nice. Once The General finished speaking Erica stood and made sure that she had her things and started to leave the room as well with everyone else. Erica stopped just outside of the room that she was assigned looking at Nigel, Hank and Wayne. "Sleep well, and see you guys in the morning." Erica said.

As soon as she entered the room Erica looked around the beds were the first thing she had seen, but she decided to take the second bed. "I'll take the other bed then." Erica said, as she went into the bathroom and got out of the bathrobes and started to change into some of the clothes that were provided by these people. "I'm Erica by the way." She said introcuding herself to Beatrice and Amelia as she went to the other bed She did not know these people yet, and didn't want to share a bed just yet as Erica went and got herself as comfortable as she could. "Sleep well." Erica said as she went to sleep.

Thalia Carmichael

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room -> Bedroom 1)
Skills: N/A

Thalia didn't remember any of her grandparents. She had heard stories, but if she had ever met any of them she was too young to remember their faces. She had been raised among many elder members of a community that was really more of an extended family, by blood, marriage, or close association; all her father's people. But her biological grandparents from that side of her family were assumed to be dead. Downside to having an older parent. As for her mother's people, she barely saw any of them at all, having left them as soon as she hit double-digit years. All the same, she would have liked to have thought that the demeanor of at least one of her hypothetical grandparents would be similar to this General that made his appearance.

The genteel manner of the man was, admittedly, comforting. It was like his personality was designed to put people at ease while maintaining velvet-gloved authority. Tactically, that was an excellent starting place if someone wanted to yank the rug out from under you with very little notice. Thalia was already uncomfortable being in this place, even if it was the best chance they had for survival as a whole, and the best opportunity for her to grow stronger before continuing on her own way. Her trust was a hard thing to earn. Until it happened, even if presented with yummy food and clean clothes, Thalia was going to keep much at arm's length.

When the grand introduction had concluded, she was still wary. But this was the choice she had made, and they had a couple of older people with them that needed walls and security. A purpose, too. But they all needed that, she supposed. Thalia would be a good girl and wait to see what happened. While she was doing just that (seeing what happened), she noticed that the General had a few extra words and a slip of paper for the Army Captain. "Great," she mumbled. It seemed that everyone except for her got to speak to people. She gave a low, quiet growl that was reminiscent of another of her bloodline.

All that was left now was to get to sleep. Fine, she could probably use it. The day had been eventful - frustrating, but eventful nonetheless. She had been reminded that she lost people. Beatrice was pulling farther away than she usually did. She was presently of compromised means and in a condition that was, for her anyway, sub-optimal. But she did have a full stomach and had less worry about random groups of Zeds wandering into their campsite.

Thalia got in line behind Tatiana and Riley as they filed into their assigned room. The ballerina was curt, to say the least, barely speaking and snatching the top blanket off of the bed, only to set up a little nest for herself with chairs in the corner. She considered waiting to see what the other woman was planning on doing; an act that was more survival instinct than courtesy but might be passed off as such. They did come in together, after all. Maybe they had some arrangement. But after a few seconds, Thalia made due with carefully climbing onto the bed nearest the door - the same one that Tatiana had taken the top blanket from. She didn't respond to either Tati or Riley verbally, just a simple motion to acknowledge extended to each of them.

Thalia brought herself to a seated position with her back resting on the headboard and pulled the top sheet up to shield her arms against the bracing air of the AC unit. Otherwise, she merely allowed herself to rest in that position, instinctively ready to wake quickly if the occasion called for it.

Hank Wright

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room -> Bedroom 3)
Skills: N/A

...who knows French? Funny. Hank wasn't in the volunteering mood just yet. As it turned out, someone else in the room did. Good.

There was mild but annoyance as Wayne shut the television off. It was understandable, granted, but this was the first time he'd been able to sit and enjoy an actual, working television in a very long time. Not that he hadn't gotten to view the occasional TV during the years between the outbreak and present day; mostly it took the form of him breaking into an abandoned house for temporary shelter, salvaging a warm beer from inside a refrigerator otherwise occupied by prehistoric leftovers, and planting his ass in front of the TV while impotently hitting the button on a nearby remote. Hank would then make excellent use of his time sipping his warm, flat beverage and staring at a blank screen, letting his mind wander. Maybe he thought about a good hockey game. Maybe his family, wife and daughter mostly, and allowed sorrow to take him. Sometimes he would even bitch about "what was on" and use it as a means to vent some of his less obvious irritations. It was amazing what the human mind would do to either confuse or heal itself. Lucky for the man, he knew a little bit about how the human mind operated.

Well, even though his first decent (read: actual) movie in years was cut short by things of arguably more importance, it was okay. It wasn't like it was live. It was a frigging VHS, which meant that it could be picked right back up later on. Or tomorrow. They had quite a bit of time on their hands - seven days of it, if the guys in charge were to be believed. But again, hey, n problem! This was their pleasant tropical retirement community in the open arms of Florida, and run by whatever remnants of the U.S. Military was still around or not, he didn't care; every good community for the more mature citizen needed an Activities Director to let them know when it was time to break out the shuffleboard. Or in this case, shoot you if you got out of line. Worst case scenario. Hopefully. They were about to find out one way or another, seeing as the headman was being ushered in at that moment.

It didn't stop Hank from responding to Wayne's last comment about fine and not-so-fine drug store literature, "Danielle Steele? God, I hope she's a walking corpse right now. Won't hurt the quality of her work any."

The old man looked a lot like ...an old man. But seeing how he commanded the respect of everyone in the room, there had to be a ton more to him than just being old. Maybe the "being kindly" thing had something to do with it, but Hank doubted that, too. Kindly people were chewed up and spit out by the world now. He sure enough seemed like a decent guy. It seemed like a standard sort of extended introduction, more sizing up the new people than letting people know more about him. There was something quietly pragmatic about The General, mixed with a great understanding of who he had under him. Of course, with those names, nepotism might have a little to do with it. Still, if your family has the best qualifications for the job at hand, you'd be stupid to pick someone else to handle it. Hank did hope that was the case. Otherwise he'd have an awful lot of fun getting the hell out of Dodge in the middle of the night.

When he was finished, no fresh bits of torture were brought out to ease their boredom. Hank called it a win. He also noted the passing of a slip of paper to Ash, after he was referred to by his old Army rank and his last name. Did they know each other? How could they? He looked a little young to have been in direct service of the General, unless Ash was fetching him coffee back in the day. And he wouldn't have had to ask which one Captain Holloway was. Still, brownie points from the old man? Asshole must work fast. Hank agreed in part with his fellow asylum refugee, supposing, "Huh... Must be an Army thing. Or he knows something we don't." He shrugged. Didn't really bother him in the slightest. Besides, there was a rumor that a bed lay somewhere nearby that he had an appointment with.

The room would have been considered simple five or so years ago. Spartan, even. The made Hank chuckle a bit, thinking that Nigel would probably feel right at home, that being the case. But before he could get a customary verbal dig in at the guy, Wayne decided to be more himself than usual right then. The unceremonious flop onto the bed, followed by the shirt-ruffling expulsion of colon fumes and profuse snoring definitely cemented the sleeping arrangements. A look that seemed to scream, "Really, Wayne?" could be read on his face, followed by a shrug of a man who simply accepted life as it came to him. "Yeah. Loud and clear on shared bunks." It's not like it was the first time they had to sleep in cramped conditions. Not that this was cramped in the least. Plus, clean sheets!

Hank took to his side of the bed with a little more grace than Wayne did his own. "G'night there, Nigel," he responded, drifting away into his own dreamless sleep.

Ash Holloway

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room -> Bedroom 4)
Skills: N/A

The exchange between Victor and Tatiana was heartwarming. Especially the part where he got to see a tiny sliver of the Tati-That-Was peek out from behind the hardened woman that he had come to know over the past few months. He was particularly fond of the part where Froggy exclaimed with some disbelief that Tati would never have done such an unspeakable thing like belting someone (oh, say, like Ash for instance), and she backed up that assertion by sticking her tongue out as an embellished childlike taunt.

He almost felt bad when he gave the young Russian lady a sarcastic smile and surreptitiously extended his middle finger, giving her the international symbol for "You're Number One!", though he was pretty sure the meaning of the gesture might not actually mean that. She was basically his little sister by this point, so a little sibling nudging never hurt anyone.

Fun and games, such as they were, would have to wait for a while. The man in charge of this place was entering and while Ash had no personal stake in the man's presence, he did understand and respect the decision to inspect the new arrivals personally. From what he understood, it was supposed to be time to play Taps and call it a night following the inspection, or introduction, or whatever this was supposed to be, in whatever state of formality or informality it may take. Though considering that the man coming to see them was referred to as "The General", Ash was going to assume it was something with a greater air of formality than to which they all had been exposed so far.

The entrance of the man led him to the conversational equivalent of a ballbat to the back of his head. This was a man who was highly informal, from the looks of things, yet he still had the rapt attention of the personnel in the room. He gave a polite smile which allowed Ash to get a good look at the man's face. Particularly his eyes. It was a curse; had to be. Another set of familiar eyes on an unfamiliar face, but these were blue, just like the Master Gunnery Sergeant. If he was another of the Martin Clan... The man introduced himself officially:

Aeron. Mr. Martin to most. Referred to as The General.

...please put your seats and tray tables to their original, upright position. In the event of sudden cabin depressurization, masks will descend to provide you with oxygen...

Ash knew this name. Four Star General Aeron Martin, United States Army. The Dragon. The man was literally a textbook example of behavior fitting an Officer in the service of his country. Highly decorated, career man starting from the ranks of the enlisted and commissioned after six (SIX) years of dedicated service. He had leaked more blood in more mud than Ash had visited in his lifetime, and he was a man who saw some travel time for his country. Add to that the last name and certain physical traits... Thana had told him that her father was a Gunny. She mentioned nothing about her paternal grandfather being The Dragon.

Thana's family or not, Ash felt his posture reflexively come to a more rigid position. For a career man, it was difficult not to. Even now, years after the concept of a central government or organized, nationwide military had blown away in the wind, after they had to do dip into some of the worst impulses of humanity just to survive, the training had a funny way of sticking with a man. Seeing as it was impossible to hide the sudden coming to attentive stance, Ash threw the man a salute the second that his name was mentioned aloud. Way to play it cool.

Aeron's voice and almost cheerful demeanor reminded him very much of the supportive way that Thana had spoken to him, just as much as the distant, brooding stare of Macsen was reflected in the woman. And the eyes shared among the Martins. It was enough to sink a fishhook into the flesh of his heart and pull, sharply at first until the initial surprise of the realization had worn down a little, then a turned to a steady tug that slowly ripped at his insides. Maybe he shouldn't have come here. No - he should have. But maybe he shouldn't stay. Thana was gone and all he had were reminders, most especially in the people he would have to call "Sir".

Still, Ash held his ground as only a commissioned officer in the service of Uncle Sam's noble order of Combat Engineers, remaining upright and stony of expression as he was able, considering the unintentional emotional javelins hurled in in his direction. Many of them seemed aimed at others, but each of them seemed to find him. Called to war. Yeah. That struck with him. Unlike Alexander, Ash had signed on the dotted for it. He wasn't drafted. Day a child was born. It was a thing for which he might remain envious; a joy he would never know. Or when you fell in love. That one cracked the exterior he was so good at maintaining. But it was just a crack. Perhaps that was what the General was watching for. Ash was a boxer being expertly taken apart by a superior pugilist, one crushing, concussing blow at a time. While he could endure better than anyone he personally knew, no matter how much he had prepared himself for the extreme possibility that she might be dead, Ash had limits. His limits were being challenged.

He barely heard Aeron speaking to him due to the blood in his ears thundering. Ash caught his rank and surname, snapping to full alertness again out of a reflexive measure, though it was fleeting. Discipline of upbringing and experience kept him rooted and standing, eyes forward as the older man spoke, and in a way it felt like there was someone else behind his eyes taking notes on what The General was saying. He just couldn't process until they were staring at each other, and Aeron handed over a slip of paper. The understanding was that she would have wanted him to have it.

"Thank you, Sir," he responded politely, an unbidden rasp coloring his words. Ash could tell that his eyes had misted over, looking down at the rectangle of thick stock now in his hands. Again he barely registered the physical connection made to his shoulder.

The next thing he knew, the priest was leading everyone to their rooms. His feet shuffled on autopilot, grabbing his assigned belongings and filing into step behind Manny and the kid, Hunter. This was a lot like Officers' Training back in his native Virginia, except that he didn't have the same level of trust in his bunkmates. Ash didn't bother claiming a spot to sleep, instead moving straight to the bathroom the second he stepped inside. He closed and locked the door behind him and turned on the bathroom vent fan, then sat down on the closed lid of the toilet.

Ash promised himself five minutes. Just five minutes. He could do that. He could take time for himself, time that he needed to assess and allow his feelings to express - quietly, discreetly, and alone. For the first time in a very long time, Ashton Holloway wasn't responsible for anyone except for himself. He wasn't a Captain, nor an engineer, or even a survivor. Ash was a man who had traveled hundreds of miles to find a woman he loved, only to find that he had already lost her. He sobbed quietly, letting the white noise of the fan cover anything that he could not suppress himself, all the while holding onto the paper he had received from General Martin. A double-edged gift. Any comfort it may have provided was questionable, though he was grateful to have it nonetheless. It was an old picture, and Ash cradled it like it was both precious and fragile.

It was more than five minutes before Ash could compose himself. When he stepped back out into the room, he noted that one of the beds was unoccupied. Manny had one bed, Hunter the chairs. Ash didn't make any sort of nighttime bid for camaraderie with either of the men. He simply lay down on the unclaimed bed and stared at the ceiling.

"If anyone has a mind to try something stupid," began Ash, his voice stone yet still colored by his Virginian upbringing, "now... is your opportunity." There was finality to his voice; a very believable quality backed by a wiry edge that hinted at a distinct lack of consideration for self. Ash continued to stare distantly above him, inhaling and exhaling slow, even breaths. Even he wasn't sure when sleep finally took him.

Everything was so cold and wet. That kind of bone chilled damp cold you feel in the middle of a long winter that isn't quite cold enough for snow but the precipitation just keeps coming. Your veins feel like sludge as they try to move blood through your system and everything hurts. It hurts in a way that makes you want to weep but even the slightest cry would send a shock wave far worse through you so you hold it all in. That is what she felt as she lay there, too afraid to even breathe. What kind of pain would rip through her ribs if she took too deep a breath?

"No, it won't hurt. Not here," a voice came to her ears. It was a feminine voice. Soft and soothing. Reassuring like a mother telling her child everything would be alright. And she felt calm just hearing it, taking away the fear that had flooded her. The gray skies above was the first thing her eyes could see when they opened. It was so bright compared to the darkness she had been in but slowly she adjusted as her body did. The pain melted away as she lay there, but the cold and moisture remained. "You don't want to be here do you?"

"No..." she said as she sat up and looked around. Finally spotting the source of the voice that soothed her fears but didn't take away her pain. "I don't have a choice do I?" It really wasn't a question, more like an acquiesce to something she felt deep in her bones. Gun-metal blue green eyes looked sadly at her, this woman before her looked every ounce the motherly figure the voice portrayed but there was something more. Something sad and distant. Was she this way because of the rain that fell around them or was the rain falling because of her pain? Did the sky weep for this mother or did it weep for her? Perhaps it was both.

"We all have a choice, just sometimes no matter what we chose there will be pain we cannot fathom." There was a sigh as a slender arm slipped around her shoulder and pulled her to her feet. She could only nod at the statement made. Either choice, she may never know. Either choice could bring a life time of what if's. Yet wasn't that with all things? "Walk with me." It wasn't a request so she stepped with the darkly dressed enigma. The mother seemed enveloped in a shadow that was consuming her.

"Why am I here?" That was a question that perhaps was better left unasked and even so better left unanswered as they traipsed over the ground. A shadow passed over the woman's features as a look of remorse did. There was no answer. "You... did this?" There was a reluctant nod. Pushing away, she didn't feel reassured anymore but as the arm left her body she felt empty inside and closed the distance once again. Like a hurt child wanting a parents reassurance even after they were scolded. "Why?" Her voice cracked when she asked. Why did this happen? Why here? Why now?

"Perhaps sometimes we don't have a choice after all." Perhaps we don't. Perhaps in the end, even Fates fate is sealed. The rains were coming down more now. A few flakes of snow were mixing in and slush was forming at their feet. Taking a breath she looked up at the sky. Darkness was taking over gray. "Make your choice child. Yours may be the last I have." Choice? What choice? To keep a promise? Or was it to see another's promise was kept? Even then, it wasn't guaranteed.

"Is he there?" There was no answer. "Is he here?" Still no answer. Just patience waiting. A mothers patience. Looking around, she knew she had to decide. She could feel it in her gut that was tied in knots that there was not much time. So many questions and there would be no answers. She had to make a choice, even if she didn't like the possibilities. A choice had to be made. Parting her lips she couldn't even answer. In her mind she didn't know what to chose.

"Very well..." She hadn't said anything but when she heard the words she knew the woman was right. Some things we just know. Even if we fight against it, even if we deny it. We know when something begins. We know when it ends. We just, know. The light brightened for a moment and the woman was alone as the rain poured down. Maybe the Grim Reaper was a more appropriate title for the Lady Of Luck? Even if it wasn't in her hands, it felt more on point in this moment than it ever had before. Life wasn't fair. Neither was Death.

Year 5: New Day Update

Date: July 19th, 2012
Map in Original OOC post - NPC's In CS Tab

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: H6 (Quarantine: W)

Temperature: 83F (28C)
Humidity: High (Around 73%) - No Rain
Wind Speed: 12 MPH (19 KPH)
Cloud Coverage: Overcast

Alright, the dice have spoken and we have gone forward 4 days, we are half way through Quarantine. Pay close attention to the update because there is a massive amount of information dump. All characters will be in the conference at the start of this post.
  • Ash Holloway: The last four days have been calm for Ash, there is a shock. No more gut punches, not since the picture. How he is handling it personally, well only he knows that. His face is healing nicely. No stomach problems from adjusting to the food.
  • Riley Ridgeway: Well she ain't dead by the hands of Tati, so that's good. lol Her hair has sprouted in the slightest and she has a scarf that she can wear over her head. No irritation. No stomach problems from adjusting to the food.
  • Amelia Payne: Things are alright, hair is growing in slower than Riley's but she has a scarf as well to wrap around her head. Minimal irritation from the hair starting to sprout and just one day of minor stomach issues adjusting to the food.
  • Jack Newnan: Jack had one of minimal stomach issues adjusting to the food, no issues with Jamie at night. The baby is adjusting well.
  • Tatiana Newnan: Tati had two days of moderate stomach issues adjusting to the food and a bruise formed on her hand from where she hit Ash, but it is faded away mostly by day 4.
  • Alexander Polawski: Alex had one day of minor stomach discomfort adjusting to the food. He has been provided with a set of crutches to get around until his prosthetic is complete.
  • Beatrice Decker: She is sitting pretty. No stomach problems, no problems what so ever.
  • Thalia Carmichael: Is doing well as well. No stomach problems. Go figure. She is sitting pretty.
  • Emanuel "Manny" Newman: Manny has had bad stomach problems. Three days adjusting was hard. Forth day he is feeling better.
  • Erica Monroe: Doing fine, no stomach problems.
  • Nigel "Hadrian" Cooper: Two days of moderate stomach problems adjusting to the food but was fine by day 3.
  • Wayne Maldonado: Three days of farting enough to kill a cow but he is fine and thankfully by morning of day 4 the gas has stopped. Hasn't bothered him but his roomies probably requested a gas mask on day 1.
  • Hank Wright: One day of moderate stomach problems but hey, being in the bathroom with a fan was better than sitting in a room with Wayne at night.
  • Hunter Monroe: One day of moderate stomach problems adjusting to the food but he has put on about a pound now.
  • Victor Bonheur: Is doing great. No stomach problems adjusting to the food and his cough/sinuses are doing great. He is pretty much healthy has a horse now and back to his physical old self.

Day 1: Was a setting up structure day. Atticus came in and did a random assignment of jobs around the place for those in quarantine. These duties are done every day. Now of course a character could outwardly protest their job assignments but they will be not changed. How well your character tends to their jobs is up to you and needed to be noted in your next post. Due note, the jobs are final. No trading, working with another to help things move faster. Etc.

  • Alex/Jack: Clean Male Showers Daily after morning showers.
  • Riley/Beatrice: Clean the Female Showers Daily after morning showers.
  • Victor/Thalia: Clean up the Conference Room at the end of the Day.
  • Hank/Hunter: Clean the Male Bedrooms each morning after breakfast.
  • Nigel/Tati: Clean the Female Bedrooms each morning after breakfast.
  • Ash/Erica: Gather the laundry and hand out new clothing each day when Auntie comes by.
  • Manny/Wayne: Take care of busing the plates and taking care of dishes to be moved out by Cook each day.
  • Amelia: Switches out with Jack and Tati on their duties so one of Jamies parents are always with him.

Day 2: Doc comes in to check on everyone. He does a weigh in to see how people are holding up, hands out meds to help with stomach issues for those still having them. Finds both Jamie and Victor had responded well to treatment and their allergies are under control. He has the blood work back on people and everyone is fine as far as disease goes. Hunter gets word that his dog had a tick but she is doing fine and her blood work came back perfect. She is being walked out on the beach daily to get exercise. Schrody wasn't so lucky, he had lice and had to be shaved. Scratched up Daytona a bit in the process. Very unhappy kitty.

Day 3: Tesla comes in and does a final mold fitting to check and make sure that Thalia and Alexanders prosthetics will fit well. He tell them they will get the finished product the next day sometime in the afternoon. Shears comes by and takes whoever wants to go with him over to the Quarantine Sauna/Barber Shop for hair cuts if they want. Atticus comes over to do religious readings with anyone that wants a bit of spiritual guidance and prayer. Panama and Major are more relaxed now and down to basic side arms. Gunny comes by to inform people they will be doing interviews over the following days with each person alone and that there will also be a test given out by the Professor to test their skills and knowledge's. NPC's have not divulged information about the base or people on it more than what is already in previous posts. If questioned, they will basically be told that information is only for members of the camp.

Day 4: Morning duties are done and such as is the morning meal. Simple oatmeal, scrambled eggs, and fruit. Juice and water is the main drink, coffee is limited to one cup for each person that wants it. And here we go....

Leaning back against the wall Panama yawned slightly, Major shooting him a look. He just smirked at her and shrugged. "Long night," he said before pushing off the wall and glancing around. "Fuck this, I'm bored," he said reaching into his back pocket. "Who wants to play cards?" he asked as he walked over to one of the folding tables and pulling it out. Dropping a chair next to it he sat down and started shuffling the cards. Major just rolled her eyes a bit and stayed at her post by the door. She was always watching and didn't say much. Though it seemed that the baby had taken a shine to the woman. Anytime he was put down he would crawl over to her and tug on her pants leg or try to play near her. She'd let him but remain quiet. "They're gonna start thinkin' yer a mute," he teased the woman and her eyes rolled again as she crossed her arms over her chest. Shuffling the cards Panama looked around. "Come on, who's in? Ain't like you got anythin' better to do."

Wayne Maldonado

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

While Wayne was a pain in the ass, he took the job he was assigned seriously enough. Sure he made jokes about it, imitating a woman from a biographical film about Bruce Lee. "I am dish washer!" he would joke in a really bad Asian accent, dragging out the words as he spoke but at the end of each meal he would work without issue and get the job done as quickly as he could. He liked getting back to his chair and watching TV. Granted he had started dancing as well. Trying to get Tatiana to teach him and oddly enough he succeeded. The man was anything but graceful but he was a show himself trying to pull off even the most basic of dance moves. "I'm a fucking princess," he would laugh anytime he busted his ass. Which, was often. The man was good for one thing, he was strong and could do lifts.

When Shears came by he was all for it. He could use a trim, getting his hair shaved close. Not bald but even. Today though, he was feeling his age a bit. Rummaging through the various video tapes that were available it was his turn to pick and he was going to take full advantage of it. Thing was, there wasn't really anything at this point he either hadn't already seen or wanted to see. "No, I ain't putting back on 16 Candles, I'm over that John Hughes bullshit," he said to no one and swatted in the air. "Keep it up asshole and you're going back in my pants," he warned to the air.

Moving tapes around he stopped and picked up an older looking VHS tape that didn't have a label on it. It was simply black and whatever label on it had been worn off long ago, only a bit of sticky tack left behind. "Oh, fuck. Wonder if someone made a sex tape," he giggled dementedly as he tossed it into his other hand and waltzed over to the TV. Putting it in the VCR he hit rewind. His fingers drumming on top of the stand as he waited. "Whoever the fuck watched this last wasn't kind and didn't rewind," he huffed until he heard the tell tale click that the tape was ready. Where was a Blockbuster when you needed one?

Leaning over he hit play and walked back over to his seat. Sitting his ass down and palming the last bit of coffee he had in his mug. The man had his hopes up and as the tape started he groaned. It wasn't a sex tape. Looked like someone filming shit in a bar a good decade ago. The place looked like a dive and there were a lot of people milling around, the sound of glasses clinking and people talking. "I got it dad," a voice chimed in. It sounded like Gunny.

"I do not doubt that you have son, I just want to be sure it is in focus," another voice came over and the camera turned, a brief catch of a slightly younger version of the General showing up before Maddoc walked in front of the camera and grinned.

"Yeah, gotta make sure I am looking good," Maddoc said as he looked like he was fixing his hair as he clutched a cigar in his mouth. A hand came to his shoulder and shoved him out of the way. It had to be Gunny's.

"Well fuck me. A Martin Clan home video, this shit should be good," Wayne said as he leaned forward. Sure it wasn't a football game or a sex tape but these were the people that ran this place and the former detective in him wanted to know more.

There was a stage, small, over by the bar and some people who were not in focus standing up there, looking like they were talking. There was the gentle strum of an acoustic guitar and the camera slowly went into focus. "Oh, they are starting back up, marvelous," Aeron said from somewhere from the side of the camera. The man sounded excited for things to start back up

Most of the small band was nothing that stuck out but there was a tall piece of Texan Brisket playing the guitar, stetson on his head with his brown curls popping out and a broad and familiar to some grin on his face. Standing next to him was a rather dressed down woman in a light cotton pale blue sun dress wearing cowboy boots. She had dark wavy hair, and pale skin. She wasn't facing the bar yet, still moving a stool over to the mic. Only thing that could be really seen was an anchor tattoo on her right shoulder with something coming from it. It was hard to tell at this distance. Sitting down she reached up and leaned against the mic slightly, bracing one foot on the bottom rung of the stool as the song started.

"I don't want lose you but I don't want to use you just to have some body by my side," she started to sing. It was a more country cover of Patty Smyth's Sometimes Love Ain't Enough. Her voice was familiar and while it wasn't a voice that would ever land some major record deal it was one that would was sweet and deep. The camera panned in. It was Thana. Thana and Gavin, singing a duet in some run down bar somewhere. It looked to be in Texas considering the amount of neon and Texas flags hanging up in the bar.

"God bless fuckin' Texas, I'd like to buy her a drink," Wayne said as he leaned forward a bit more watching. He had no interest in cards right then. Couples were on the dance floor, slow dancing to the song as the two on stage sang together, the rest of the band playing along with them. As the song ended, one could hear Maddoc and Aeron cheering, the rest of the bar clapping. There seemed to be a bit of a back and forth between Gavin and Thana on stage, him looking like he was pleading with her and her finally giving in with an exasperated face before the next song started. Taking a long drink from a bottle of beer before the band started playing Deana Carter's Strawberry Wine. Thana sang, and the frustration seemed to fade from her face. She was smiling and looked happy, swaying on her stool as she sung. More songs followed, some faster, some slow but then couple seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Tatiana Newnan

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: Athletics

Playing it safe, Tatiana took it easy the first two days. That didn't mean she didn't do anything, she was just pacing herself. Stomach issues from dealing with regular solid food were a bit more than she expected but she worked through them. She had promised Thalia that she would train her and Tatiana made it a point to train with her dancing every day she could. Now she had a student and she took it seriously. Granted they would not do much dancing to start. It was mostly conditioning and stretching and learning the basic positions. Yet it was enough, the way Tatiana stretched could easily leave one drenched in sweat by the end. She wasn't expecting to pick up a second student along the way but it seemed that the bat shit crazy an who spoke to something in the air wanted to join along. She allowed it but only him and Thalia. Thalia because she had agreed to it, Wayne for multiple reasons. One, he had helped when they first arrived and two, she wanted to read more into this strange man.

The chores, she took to seriously and quickly each day without any complaint. Not really saying much to the man Wayne referred to as Sportacus. There had been some things she had caught him saying on the first day and she wasn't going to deal with that. Not right now. She had a job to do and wanted to get it done. Training was at the forefront of her mind. Staying strong and focused. She would switch out with Jack watching Jamie. Yet she let him spend most of the time with the baby. Him and Froggy. Both of them had a lot of catching up to do with her son, she had spent the first months of his life with him every moment. One might think she might suffer from separation anxiety over not holding him constantly now, in a new place, but she trusted her husband and Froggy. More than any other. And she needed the change of mind, the relief. It was long over due. Jamie was comfortable in his surroundings but he seemed to only want to be near his mother, Jack, or the major lady. He didn't cry but it was rare he did.

Knowing that Jamie and Froggy both were good now, medically speaking, put her mind at even more ease. It allowed her to relax a bit, though for her these days that was never much. She wasn't speaking a lot to anyone and some people she purposefully either stayed away from or ignored. In fact, now that it was day four, it seemed that Tatiana had a new group forming consisting of Thalia, herself, and Wayne. A weird trio indeed and they weren't exactly personable but they trained, for hours each day, between meals, between doing chores. They stayed active. Quiet but active. The only real time she took away from chores and training was talking to Ash. Back corner of the room, away from the rest, in hushed voices. They both had things they needed to deal with, so they did, together. It was almost like when siblings would sneak off to get away from everyone else during the holidays. When Shears came by she went with him and got her hair cleaned up a bit. It had taken a bad hacking months earlier, it was nice to get it evened out.

Today, Tatiana was in the small area in the back of the room that her and Wayne had cleared off for practice and was training. Working with Thalia on balance. Wayne had told her he was going to take it easy today and would join in the afternoon. Whatever, she could focus on Thalia today and not watch Wayne land on his ass. Which, honestly, wasn't as bad as it seemed. It made her laugh. The man was like a demented uncle. She had got in the habit of calling him Fester. As Panama asked if anyone wanted to play cards she glanced towards Thalia. "Going or staying?" she asked, as she motioned towards Panama. She figured Thalia would rather train but it was an option out there on the table, so to speak.

Hearing Wayne, she quirked a brow and stood up from the floor where she had been stretching. Looking towards the TV and her head tilting to the side slightly. "Vov," she said as she stared at the television. The tall man was familiar, would have been to anyone in Newnan the day it fell. He had arrived late that day and been brought in by Froggy while Ash was taking an evening to himself for once. She hadn't spoken directly to the man known as Gavin but she didn't forget his face or the way he had acted when James was cast out of Newnan the morning after the wedding. The woman, she had spoken to, briefly. Her eyes went over towards Ash and she waited. This could be bad.

Emanuel "Manny" Newman

Location: Quarantine
Skills: N/A

The last few days for Manny have been a mix of joy, and of pain. Though he was enjoying his time in Mexico Beach so far, he had succumbed to his own stupidity. With his medical background he should have known to be more careful with solid foods then he was, unfortunately he was just happy to enjoy it. And for him, that meant 3 days of stomach pains that made his life hell. Though he tried to pull his part in his new set of jobs, he struggled to keep up until the recently when the stomach pains finally passed him. He felt back for not being able to do much to help Wayne when it came to kitchen work, but he promised he would make it up once he was up to par again. This morning he was able to help more, and did his best to make up for the last few days. He was thankful that Wayne was able to pick up the slack and then didn't give Manny a hard time for struggling to keep up.

Now that he was better, he was hoping to try and enjoy his time here. He had gotten a lot of reading done, had watched some shows with the others, though TV wasn't a big thing for him. He missed going outside more, but he understood why they didn't. That was probably what he was looking forward too the most right now, being able to go on long walks outside and enjoy the sun. Back when he ran his own office, he would spend a half hour before work walking, a half hour during his lunch walking, and then another hour and a half in the evening walking. Most of the time listening to Audio books or older style music. He wondered if he would be able to get his hands on a portable CD player and some audio books so he could try and restart that habit again. It would be nice to go on walks without fear of being eaten alive by making a wrong turn.

The first couple nights were hard to sleep due to Hunter's restlessness, but he didn't hold that against him. Though Manny had tried to strike up a conversation with him a few times, he made no luck. The boy wasn't too keen on opening up to him. He wondered what it would take to help calm that boy down, and help him adjust to regular life again. He wondered if the boy even could at times. The way he eyed others when they got close, how he always seemed to be looking for an exit, the way he would hold items at times like if they were weapons but deciding how to use them. But he seemed to be getting better through the days. More or less. Times like this though, Manny wondered if he should have gotten into psychology and helped people in that regard. Though, he had been able to do a lot in his time as a dentist, and a post apocalyptic medic. Thinking about it, he wasn't sure how much he could have done as a psychology. Or a brewer.

In the main social room, people were settling down and enjoying themselves. Wayne turned on a video that seemed like some sort of home video. Manny didn't have a lot of interest in TV right now, but he was happy to know that home videos were still a thing. Reminded him that there was a chance to get things back to normal. He was excited for how things were going to be. Though, the voice he picked up from the video caught his attention. He made his way over to the TV, and saw Thana. He wasn't able to process it at first, but he sat down, trying to take it in. Then he saw the boy too. The boy he decided was more likely to live without imminent attention... so he held off on treating him in favor of Thana. He died while he worked on Thana... who died what felt like forever ago. He hated himself for his feelings towards her after she left. With both of them, he wondered if he could have done more. The way that Thana recovered from her wounds he wondered if the man and Thana could have been saved if he started on him first. He wondered if he could have convinced Thana to stay. Now, they were more faces across his mind of people he had failed. People he wasn't fast enough for, people he chose to let die, people he didn't fight hard enough for.

Manny kept to himself though about how he felt. Though he was a very out going person, he rarely shared what he was feeling as it seemed to rarely help anything. Manny sat on the couch, just staring at the TV, doing his best to hide his guilt. He sits, thinking back, and wondering if he should have started on Gavin first then Thana. Was Thana more likely to make it? Or was she about as bad and just was too stubborn to let it slow her down? Then he thought... Does it matter now? They are both dead anyways. He had failed to convince her leaving was a poor idea, though he's sure she meant well. Though Thalia needed real medical supplies... and who would go with her at that moment anyways? Alexander could hold his own, but he was limited drastically in his movement. Manny himself was making sure that Thalia didn't bleed out or get infected. Thalia couldn't go for those same reasons. And leaving Manny as the most able bodied wouldn't work either. So Beatrice wouldn't work either... Though now Manny wondered if Alexander and Thalia passed him again in terms of physical ability. Looking at that, he wondered if there was much he could have done in either case. He just kept watching, thinking over and over how things could have played out differently.

Private Hunter James Monroe

The last few days were surprisingly relaxing for Hunter. Though he suffered from some nightmares without Izibell's help they got better as he got more comfortable with this new place. His stress levels started to drop, and he started to mellow out. He was still worried about what this place might be like, but between the semi comfortable nights of sleep, the calm and peaceful man called the General, and figuring out that Izibell was just fine and happy, he was relaxing. He got a daily cup of coffee, regular food, and his overall health seemed to be improving already. Sure his body rejected his new diet at first, but it passed fast. He's pretty sure he has put on weight too. He figured at the rate things were going, he'd be back up to proper fighting strength in a few weeks. After sleeping a few nights without being stabbed he also felt more relaxed in that sense too. Now when he gave people looks, they were more out of curiosity than fear. Though he still kept a watchful eye on anyone that got close to him, he rarely seemed ready to end a fight before it started with them.

He ended up getting cleaning duty with Hank. Hunter didn't mind this, in fact, out of everyone here Hunter more or less tolerated him. When Hunter lost it a few days back, he was one of the few people who seemed to be trying to help Hunter not to fuck up with his advice. No matter how brief it was. He took note of that. This also gave Hunter a better chance to stash a weapon if he ever found one. Since he was cleaning his own room he could hide a weapon and the only other likely person to find it would be Hank. Though he found a couple blunt things that could act as weapons, none he could hide easy, or could go missing without notice. Plus, he wasn't staging an uprising or a prison break. Mostly, he just wanted a plan B in case things went south. So a weapon fell low on his to do list. He still had fists, but they had Izibell. So unless a near perfect chance showed itself, he would probably leave whatever he found alone. But he felt better knowing he was in a position to get away with it if he wanted to.

Hunter has spent most of his days watching TV, enjoying the meals, and overall very bored. He felt he didn't have anything productive to do outside of his morning chores. He still didn't trust anyone here enough to talk to them much out of a passing hello, but he at least felt that if anyone was going to stab him in the back, he was safe. While in quarantine at least. Anything after that would be a new game. But for now, things were okay. He felt he had things he needed to do, but very little productive, or it felt like a bad time for them. He wanted to apologize to Tatiana about a few days ago, but he couldn't do it in front of everyone. Too much exposure. Especially considering a few days ago. He would like to do it sooner rather then later, but he couldn't bring himself to do it now. He also wouldn't mind saying something to Maddog and apologizing for his words before he was brought here. Though he thought the threat to shoot him was still way over the top for what Hunter said, he decided he would make an effort.

He thought about Beatrice, the girl who tackled him. He had said some rather rood things to her, but in the panic, he forgot them. Then again, she did tackle him and threaten to break his arm. He would hold off with apologizing to her. He decided she was lower on his to fix relationships list. He would decide later if he ever got around to it. Today on the TV was some kind of party, though the only one Hunter could pick out at first was Gunny. Though Hunter didn't know the man well, he figured it was a safe bet to assume that this was some kind of family or home video. Seemed fun. Though Hunter's family never did big events like this. The closets was family gatherings in the yard where most of the family would be working to make sure the chickens didn't get into the food. Then afterwards him and his siblings would take a rifle or shotgun and target practice on some random piece of junk. Most of the time an old car door. Until their dad caught them with a rifle they shouldn't have access too. Oops. It was nice to watch, since Hunter has more or less adjusted tot he stress of the current situation watching this video didn't make him sad. It reminded him he still had a family somewhere. If anyone could make it through this mess, it was that lot of assholes. His lot of Assholes.

Amelia Payne

Location:Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

The last couple of days were a weird mix of calm time and nerves. Well mostly because the first 2 days Amelia had to deal with some bouts of paranoia as she regularly inspected the surroundings for stuff that could be dangerous or potential rogue walkers or something that had snuck in through some disasterous bad luck. She just couldn't shake off those things right away, but after the first few days by now she had mostly gotten used to the quarantine. As much as prison it was, it also provided security from the outside, maybe that was the thing that allowed her to accept it somewhat easier than initially she suspected she would.

First day of mild stomach problems and the irritation from her hair starting to grow aside, she was feeling better now. Maybe it was the slightly better sleep or the food. She couldn't tell, but she made sure to do her duty she was given now. While it wasn't ideal, since everyone had their own tasks they completed, she was naturally doing hers too. Weirdly enough she lucked out with the oddman's job. She was just filling in spots for Tati and Jack as for them to be able to take turns so one of them was always with Jamie. She wasn't complaining about this though, she wasn't shy of working. Instead she deligently did her job. Now with most being at the conference room, Amelia had taken to her more favorite past time, reading. She had pulled a book, sitting at a comfortable corner where she wouldn't be in anyone's way, reading quietly. When Panama called for playing cards, she only looked up for a moment before she returned down to her book.

Well at least she was reading quietly until she heard the commotion about the tv and she left her book reading as to look up and check what it was all about. Sure enough she connected what Wayne was saying with what she was seeing. A Martin Family home video... she eventually managed to recognize some faces in there. She was rather surprised the woman could sing. She threw a look at Ash, before looking back to her book, but she didn't start reading right awya, instead she closed it for a moment, listening to teh video. It was nice to hear the happy voices from teh video, even if some of those people weren't around anymore. After the first night and her realization as of how the apocalypse had molded her into something she didn't want to be, she had spend some time thinking about it all. She didn't know the woman well beyond a simple first time meeting, but now that Amelia had regained some of her normal calmer state of mind, she regretted not knowing her more. She also felt sad for the woman and Ash, since they couldn't meet up again. Listening to the video, she appeared happy there... Maybe they could have gotten along?

Alexander Polawski

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

After having lived so long on the very much deadly road, getting back into a regular schedule with little risk of imminent death was as irregular to Alexander as the first night in a proper bed, but at the same time it was an immense relief to the man who clearly needed some order in his life. It was the most difficult on the first day, just like the first week in boot-camp or the first engagement in the jungle. It didn't help that ol' Mugsy's stomach couldn't handle the completely unfamiliar diet on the first day, but the old grunt had had his fair share of those moments back during the war. It was bad, but not enough to stop him for long, and after a day his biggest issue was getting used to life behind the safety of walls. That, and conversing with the new people.

All of this made Alexander more than happy to get his hands on something solid to do. And as it were the case, he was assigned with Jack his fellow bunk-mate to clean the men's showers, sometimes with one of the younger girls who had their heads shaven clean. Alexander enjoyed it. Cleaning was something he enjoyed doing, and had ever since Judith taught him it didn't have to be a chore. And then it was a good excuse to not staying too close to either Jack or Amelia if he didn't want to talk, he could always excuse himself and limp off to clean some other part of the showers. All in all, Alexander enjoyed the routines and feeling useful again. Even if he now mostly used his crutches and not the self-made pegleg.

Over the next couple of days Alexander was checked on by Tesla, alongside Thalia, Alexander was thankful for Shears giving the old man a much needed hair-cut besides the shaving he had already done in the showers and trimming it to a reasonable lenght, but most importantly to Mugsy was when Atticus came to do as good Catholic priests do. Alexander hadn't prayed in this way for years. It felt nice, it felt normal. He prayed for many different things; thanking for their food, their safety, the safety of his friends, and forgiveness. For what he prayed for forgiveness for, he didn't say, but God already knew that. And he needed that, as he grew weary of the interviews Gunny informed them of.

What would they ask him? What would he tell them?

On the fourth day Alexander had once again helped cleaning the men's showers as best he could, limping around on one leg and two crutches. They were a whole lot better than what he used before, less strainous on his tired, old bones. Then it was breakfast, a heavenly cup of coffee, and another day of quarantine. Alexander had been sitting alone at a table for his breakfast, just sitting and enjoying a moment of silence for himself. Nobody seemed to be nagging him for the moment, and he had the time and energy to not fear of being mauled to death by a walker, so he enjoyed every second of it. When Panama asked anyone if they'd want to play cards, Alexander was tempted to join in, but refrained from doing so. He still didn't like him after the whole speech about them "having had it easy", and it would take a while longer for him to let it slide.

However, as the loud-mouthed Wayne mentioned the video he put on to be of the Martins and he began to recognize one of the voices, Alexander took notice. He pushed himself out of his chair and humped over to the tv on his crutches, for a moment just standing there and staring at the tv-screen. Thana. Thana and Gavin. Alexander hadn't seen their faces for so long; Gavin's face he last saw cold, emotionless and dead after sacrificing himself in Eden; Thana when she left them in the house to search for supplies, never to return. And they were smiling. Alexander made his way over to the couch were Manny was sitting and watching as well, leaning on the couch and placing a hand on Manny's shoulder. "Never knew she could sing…"

Alexander missed Thana, if not as a friend then as their leader.

Nigel "Hadrian" Cooper

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Unlike our beloved one-legged veteran, our less-beloved Neo-Roman's stomach didn't take the sudden change of diet as easy. Nigel "Hadrian" was no stranger to food-poisoning or pain in general, having experiened both over the years since Hades conquered the world. But Over the course of the two first days, he still had trouble with eating or eating, and moving in any manner a tad too quickly made his stomach as uneasy as the Pillars of Hercules. But on the third day, Nigel was feeling a lot better and could easily stand up without holding his belly. Wayne's problems were clearly not over though, and Nigel was more often than not holding his nose when in their bedroom. A gas mask would have been nice, the smell of burning pigs truly were demoralizing for the enemy, but he'd manage.

Nigel wasn't overjoyed when he was assigned to cleaning-duty in the female bedrooms, but he knew and understood that this was the labours put onto them as payment for their services, and he obliged. It had less to do with him working alongside Tatiana, and more with the fact he wasn't too comfortable cleaning up the bedrooms where the ladies had slept. It was odd, one would think the End of the World would make one desensitized to such things, but the normality of strong, protective walls was equally odd like that. Nigel however did as he was told, and tried to clean up their bedrooms to the best of his abilities, though he and Tatiana rarely exchanged words. Nigel couldn't blame her, he was a stranger to her, and she was clearly dealing with a titanic boulder on her shoulders. The image of Tatiana's scars on her back was still very much burned into his mind, more so thanks to his suspicions of what caused them. He shuddered at the thought, but tried to hide it from her.

Boiling oil was one grusome, yet effective way to fight off a besieging army, one could say.

It was the fourth day now, and Nigel could be found sitting in a quiet corner and reading a book. Sitting in the same area and doing the same as Nigel was Amelia, who Nigel had worked with a few times as she was the replacement for Tatiana, though Nigel couldn't say they had spoken much. He enjoyed the peace and quiet though, as he could finally read a book. After so many days just sitting in front of the tv and simply watching it, Nigel "Hadrian" had gotten tired of old vhs-movies with commentary provided by Hank and Wayne. In the end Nigel had asked for something to read, and Panama had in true Maldonado-Wright fashion brought Nigel a book. "The Decline and Fall of The Roman Empire". At first Nigel "Hadrian" had sighed at the obvious joked being pulled on him, but at this point he was just happy to read something that didn't involve Lazy-Town. So now Nigel was sitting in said corner and reading quietly through a book as much about the Fall of Rome as a history of how to percieve the Fall of Rome. Even if it was old news, it was better than watching paint dry.

Nigel too looked up once the video was put on the TV. He recognized a few of the people on the Martin's video, except for the tall man playing the guitar. The lady doing the singing looked familiar to Nigel, though he had trouble placing her face somewhere…was she the older version of the girl in the pictures he found with the Martins family? Nigel looked at Wayne and rolled his eyes at his drink-buying comment, wondering what sort of hornet's nest he would be opening today. One of the old guys, Alexander his name was Nigel thought, said something about him not knowing she could sing. Nigel could agree, though he was not a country-guy himself. But he could enjoy it nonetheless, as the others did.

Beatrice Decker

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Beatrice hadn't been certain what to make of the General, when he had first greeted them in the conference room. His accent made her think a bit of a Bond villain, putting her slightly on edge as he spoke about their condition and his hopes that they had felt a little bit better after having the shows and home cooked food. The walls didn't surprise her or bother her - they were more or less standard for any settlement that was going to stand the test of time. His philosophizing speech didn't help with the Bond villain impression.

She had slept fine in the room with Amelia and Erica. She had been convinced that Amelia would spend a fair portion of time crying - but if she had, Beatrice had been able to sleep through it. It was just another trick she had picked up from her old life. In juvi, the new girls cried all the time. Eventually, it just became background noise - and it seemed her brain still thought of it like that. Beatrice didn't extend her hand in friendship to either of them. Sure, she had made friends along the way but for the most part, they had forced the friendship on her. She wasn't the type to initiate companionship. She talked with Riley slightly as they cleaned the female showers in the morning, with Beatrice doing the job without complaint. She cleaned the showers as well as she could each time. Once more, this place reminded her of juvi - job assignments, no trading, locked in the rooms at night... If someone started calling her Double Decker, then it would be complete.

On the third day, Beatrice allowed herself a little bit of inward happiness. Alex and Thalia's prosthetics were almost complete. She had to imagine that it would help a lot with Alex's mobility, and perhaps even give Thalia a little more confidence (not that she was lacking in it by any means). Of course, this was coupled with the news that they would be sitting interviews and examinations. She had committed to memory the responses she had given on the questionnaire and Beatrice knew the areas of her life she was intending to keep hidden - namely, Justice. She didn't care if they knew the rest.

The morning of the fourth day, Beatrice had had a good and decent breakfast. Her work in the showers was done and they were all in the conference room. She hadn't gone to get a haircut, not really caring if she had a million split ends or not. It seemed almost too much of a luxury to be able to worry about hair, though she had half a mind to ask Amelia if locks of love was still accepting donations and if Beatrice could make one on her behalf. The main reason she didn't was she was fairly certain the ginger would shatter like a tea cup thrown on the floor if she did. She already had to deal with one crying kid (Hunter), didn't need another one.

"I'll bite," Beatrice said calmly, heading on over to Panama as cards were brought up. Her eyes darted over towards the tape that was playing. Thana's memory seemed to dominate this place. Whether that rattled Beatrice or not, her expression was neutral, as her gaze went back towards the guards and the offer of playing cards.

Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Jack had found the General to be a comforting presence. He was a grandfatherly figure, carrying wisdom that could only come from being alive and living through so much. His mind went towards his own father - Charles Hudson - and he wondered what sort of grandfather he would have been to Jamie. Would he have finally risen to the occasion and attempted to right his wrongs? Or would Jack's father have been just as absent in his grandson's life as he had been in his son's? He didn't doubt that Tatiana wouldn't have wanted Jamie around Charles. Jack wouldn't have wanted that either. Maybe around his sisters... It wasn't their fault that they had gone to live with their father when their parents split up.

His heart stung slightly as Tatiana had to part from them and go sleep with the women, but he returned her kiss and made her a quiet promise that they would both see her in the morning - and a plea for her to finally get some much needed sleep. In his room, one of his roommates had cried the first night. Jack's heart went out to the old amputee. He had cried the first night they had gotten Tatiana back. It wasn't something he had been able to help - it just happened. He had felt awful that Froggy decided to sleep on the chair, but he had known better than to argue with him. His mind was still partially in shock that his father figure was back, alive and well. Not only that, but they had found safety for the first time in what felt like an eternity. They had found a place where they could raise Jamie, give him the gift of something resembling a normal childhood.

Over the past few days, his stomach hadn't always agreed with him. Thankfully, there was working plumbing in this place, meaning that whenever a bit of an issue struck and he needed to go - which didn't happen too often, he was grateful for that - he was able to pass Jamie off to Tatiana and then make a beeline for the bathrooms. Jamie was being a little champ the entire time, acting like an old pro at all of this. He had no issues with the food and all, slept fine at night. Jack was beginning to have a slight suspicion that every sleepless night they had spent with Jamie had been on purpose before and that the little bugger had just wanted attention.

The accommodations they had made for him and Tatiana on the duties had been more than he had dared to hope for. As a small way of repaying everything they had done, Jack was a mad cleaning machine whenever he was sorting out business in the showers with Ash. He could practically just see his mother walking in and going "Really? I had to die for you to learn to clean up after yourself?!" and while it was a sad thought, it was a happy one too. She would have loved Tatiana and Jamie, he was certain of it. The shower cleaning also gave him a chance to more or less check up on Ash, something he was grateful for. He wanted to let Ash grieve and mourn at his own pace, but he also wanted his best friend to know that Jack was there for him if he ever wanted to talk to someone other than Tatiana about it all.

The clean bill of health for Jamie from Doc? Yeah, that felt like hearing that the Cubs had won the World Series (sure, he was from Boston and he loved the Red Sox, but he had moved to Chicago and loved the Cubs as well). They hadn't exactly been able to have a real doctor take a look at Jamie other than Froggy since he was born, at least not as far as Jack was aware. When the haircuts were offered, Jack went and got one. His hair had gotten a bit shaggy and he felt like he was looking like some sort of rockstar, so it was nice to get things under control and out of his eyes.

This morning, Jack was watching Jamie while Tatiana worked with Thalia in the little back area. Seeing the tape play, his heart clenched, expecting something from Ash but he wasn't about to press. If Ash handled this fine, he wasn't going to start poking at him and asking why he was doing okay. He didn't have training in psychology like his wife did, so Jack more or less just tried to make the best call with the options he had at hand. "Jamie, ya wanna ask Uncle Ash how he is today?" Jack whispered to his son, picking him up.

He then spoke at a normal volume. "How are ya, man?" he asked Ash. If he needed this to stop, then Jack wouldn't hesitate to go and shut off the television set, but he wanted to see how Ash was reacting and all first.

Victor Bonheur

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: (Inside Quarantine: W) Conference Room
Skills: N/A

As lucky as Victor had already been, his luck seemed to continue moving upward and onward. He watched the others as they had issues with handling the regular and full meals while his he breezed by happy as a pig in shit with his food in his tummy. His cough had completely gone as well, the cause having been allergies the entire time which he was very thankful for. His bloods were also clear from any disease or infection which Victor was far happier for than he could put into words. After having had to remove some of his toes on the road, he had worried that something had managed to slip into his bloodstream. He was more thankful than he could begin to say. And yet, Victor was still not comfortable here despite all the good it was bringing him.

Everyone had been given a job Day One, his was to clean the conference room at the end of each day alongside Thalia, the young woman who was missing her lower arm. He made a purposeful point to treat her no differently due to her loss of limb as he knew that he would not want to be treated differently were he in the same position. She was not incapable just because she was one limb down. It was the same way that Victor made a point to treat Alexander as well. So what if he was missing his lower leg? He could move around just fine and was given crutches so there was no need to treat him any differently. Victor was fine being given a job but he wished that some of the people staying in quarantine were just a little bit less untidy in the communal area. Granted he was not vocal about his annoyance but anyone that knew him would have been aware of the look of irritation that would grace his face while he cleaned.

Victor was pleased seeing Tati, Jack and Jamie together and was so grateful that their hosts were allowing Jamie to always be with one parent while the other was working. He made a point to thank Amelia for being so gracious with sharing two different job tasks with Jack and Tati. Victor spent as much time as possible with his family, sparing moments here or there to have casual conversation with Ashton and Amelia, and even sometimes Riley when she was with Amelia during their chats. He never shied away from anyone wishing to speak with him during their time trapped together, but he didn't make active efforts to speak to anyone beyond general chit chat, generally with the other party starting it. When they were informed of the upcoming interviews, Victor found himself running his hands through his beard in thought, and he wondered if he could pull off what he intended to do.

It was day four within the building walls, breakfast had been and gone, Victor was quite content sitting on a chair by Ash, Jack and Jamie. Tati was due to head off to continue her teaching of dance to Thalia and Wayne, although it didn't look like Wayne was going to take part that morning as Victor glanced over to see him looking through old VHS tapes by the TV. Panama called out that he was going to play cards and asked if anyone wished to join. The notion did take Victor but he also wanted to continue spending time with his loved ones. He opted to stay where he was, despite the opportunity to speak perhaps more with a member of this community, he'd have the time to do it soon. He doubted Panama would be one that would say anything of much worth anyway. He had been more intrigued by Major, who rarely spoke at all but he knew he'd never learn anything from her either. Although, he wouldn't mind trying to get to know her...

He caught himself and turned back, smiling warmly as he looked back to Jamie, his fingers intertwined as they rested in his lap. He considered if he would finally muster up some willpower today to find a book and read like he did, once upon a day in a life time far far away. No, not today. He was still too uncomfortable in this place to allow himself to get lost in another. Even if it was only just in his mind. He did recall the Dr. Seuss books that he had seen by Amelia's seat that first day he arrived, but he wasn't sure where they had got to. Once he felt more comfortable he would grab them and read them to little Jamie with Jack and Tati. He had read those same books to his own children, while teaching them English. He smiled at the memory and let it warm him a little on the inside. A rare moment of sorrowful joy that Victor allowed to enter his mind.

Sadly it moved from the joy to plain sorrow when Victor saw a familiar face on the TV screen. Was that Gavin? Victor moved from his chair and got a little closer, watching the young woman figure moving and then, when she turned around Victor's breath caught. Zoie. But no, wait, the hair was different and she moved differently. More controlled. It was Thana. Victor's heart shot into his throat and as she began to sing and he felt the sting in his eyes, his lower lip trembling as he listened to her voice. She may not have been Zoie but she sounded so alike her. His breathing caught as he slunk down onto his knees, watching the TV curiously before his mind snapped into the here and now and he looked over to watch Ash's reaction, his tears now stopped but the moisture sitting on his cheeks and running through his beard.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine) (Conference Room)
Skills:

For the first two nights in the place she didn't really sleep to well for the most part, she was worried about Amelia but she knew that her girlfriend was still safe for the most part. Riley took it easy on the food she didn't eat to much just enough so that she was full and luckily enough she didn't get sick at all. She was grateful for the scarf when she was out in the conference room with the others Riley always wore it, but took it off by the time it was lights out she was glad her hair was slowly growing in and didn't irritate her at all.

Job wise Riley on her first two days kind of half assed it, but by the time of day four Riley was making sure that it was as clean as possible. Riley made some small talk with Beatrice getting to know her again but kept it to small talk, spending all her spare time with Amelia back in the conference room either reading a book with her or playing pool with Erica if she wanted to as well. As Riley sat next to Amelia as she would look over at those in the room, everyone seemed to be doing their own thing. She raised an eyebrow when Wayne managed to find a homemade video.

In it was the Martin family, she took a moment to look over at Ashton to see what he would do, she didnt know Thana all that well but wished she did get the chance to know her. She then turned her attention towards Panama who moved over towards a table with a chair asking who wanted to play some cards. Riley didn't really have anything to do right now as Riley leaned in and gave Amelia a quick kiss, she decided it would get a chance to know Panama a bit. "I'm down as well." Riley said as she made her way over and sat down next to Beatrice.

Erica Monroe

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine) (Conference Room)
Skills:

Erica slept pretty well, she didn't have to sleep with a bunch of sweaty men which was a nice change for once she made small talk with her roommates Amelia and Tatiana, but didn't push to much she didn't know them very well after all. Erica then spent her time working with the Ashton guy. She didn't half ass any of her work and would chat with him occasionally but didn't reveal to much about herself either and focused more on the clothes. When Shears came in Erica took him up on the offer for a haircut and just got it trimmed so that it wasn't in the way as much.

She'd then either spent her days after chores with playing some pool with Riley or played on the pac-man machine that was in the room, as Erica looked around the room. She was focused on the game at the moment as she watched Wayne managing to find a homemade video of the Martin family. She leaned back and watched it for a moment she didn't know Thana or the other guy who was on the screen with them aside from the other people who were there.

When Panama came over into the room she looked at him as he pulled out a deck of cards, she contemplated on whether or not to join in or not. She noticed Beatrice and Riley taking up on the offer, Erica shook her head she decided to just go back on her game for the time being right now as she was having more fun with that right now.

Ash Holloway

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

"Twenty-two... twenty-three... twenty-four..." The numbers rattled off in Ash's mind. The rigors of the road behind him and the understanding that meals would be significantly more regular, at least for a while, gave way to the thought that he didn't want to get soft. Neglect of personal upkeep was not something that Ash wanted to make habit. With the regular calories, a thing to which he was not fully acclimated yet, he had regained reserves of energy that begged to be utilized. In this case, pushups. Hence, the counting. Sometimes spoken and sometimes not, sporadically. Maybe he was vocalizing to distract himself from the thoughts that kept pinging around inside of his head. Thoughts of the day that Newnan fell and almost all of the days since then.

"Thirty... thirty-one... thirty-two..." He still had it. Hell, the last chunk of time living in pure survival mode, hunting, foraging, and traveling almost non-stop had made him leaner and tougher. Now that he had the caloric means to support it, he might as well take the opportunity to hone himself. Also, it gave him something to do to keep him mind busy. He was feeling pretty dark right then. Having been down that path, it was not a thing he wished to repeat. He was given a daily task, though to be honest it didn't take very long for him to do. Gather dirty clothes and distribute fresh ones. Not a difficult nor time-consuming task. When he was done, all he had was himself and the others in Quarantine. His partner in this was a lady from another group - the group with the highly irregular older men in it. Sadly, Ash was not the best of conversation during his work. Or at any time, really. Ash felt that it was a shame that he couldn't help out someone else with their jobs, but the rules about this were pretty straightforward. More time to think. More time to dwell.

"Forty-four... forty-five... forty-six..." The only person he was really opening up to was Tatiana. The face was knitting back together quite nicely, thanks for asking, from where she had decked him four days earlier. As far as he was concerned, it was over and forgotten. Not the first time he'd taken a hit, wouldn't be the last either. His people were fairly rural, Irish and English stock, mostly, from the foothills of Appalachia. Drinking and fighting was part of that, or it used to be. A well-meant love tap from his adoptive sis was just par for the course.

"Fifty." First set was down. Time to switch to crunches for a while. Every time he flexed his abdominals and brought himself up fully, he accented the rep with two fast, articulated punches. It was an exercise first shown to him by his boxing trainer, a particularly vulgar woman who stood a few inches taller than himself and was a complete taskmaster. It was a shame about her. Taken from the world a while ago. "One (one-two)... two (one-two)... three (one-two)..."

The only person who sought him out for conversation, aside from Tati, was the curious young woman with one hand. She wanted answers about four people who were close to her. When the realization as to why finally clicked, Ash didn't know whether to pull away from the woman or open up. But opening up might lead to him sharing more than he wanted to, and publicly. Those eyes, though. Ash finally knew why her eyes looked so familiar. They belonged to a grizzled old Mexican who gave his life to help someone else. It was turning into a very small apocalypse. Ash skipped a lot of the part were he and her cousin had a relationship, by either refusing to answer or just referring her elsewhere. "You should ask Tati," is really all he would comment. One could tell he might want to say more, but something stopped him.

"Seventeen (one-two)... eighteen (one-two)... nineteen (one-two)..." One breath of fresh air came in the form of a haircut. It was amazing how something that was considered utterly mundane, even a chore at times, was amazingly centering. Ash got something that was more regulation, or what used to be regulation for the Army. He wasn't the buzzcut kind of soldier, ever. Though getting the extra trimmed away was a blessing. Ash thanked Shears and went back to his routine.

"Thirty-seven (one-two)... thirty-eight (one-two) thirty-nine (one-two)..." His morning workouts were beginning to feel less like drudgery. Maybe he was healthier, more relaxed. Or perhaps there was a lot of emotion he was hurling into physical activity. He could see the ballet instruction going on with Tati at the helm. She was, like the Scandinavian lady from Illinois, a taskmaster. But artists seemed to be that way. Offhandedly, Ash wondered what his excuse was. Well, Tatiana was making some new friends and could take good care of herself. As for himself and his workouts, Ash knew the extent to which he could push his body before damage. Oh, he pushed, but not hard enough to make it impossible to maintain on the longer term.

Day Four arrived. Breakfast, coffee, and his very simple task of ferrying clothes from Point A to Point B and back again. Everything looked like it was settling into the routine until the tall guy who talked to something invisible in the air around him slid in a VHS and hit PLAY. Even then, it just looked like a normal home video to start. That is, until he began to pick out specific voices from the recording. Ash's heart sank.

He knew that Thana and Gavin had a relationship a while back; he had made that abundantly clear when they met. So when he heard the Texan's voice and saw him on screen where another Martin was, he knew what was coming next. Or he thought that he did. Ash's eyes misted over and a sad smile tugged at his face. It was bittersweet for the man. He was sure that he would never see or hear her again, but there she was. The image of her, anyway. Ash was glad to see her happy, even if it was just a memory. He was still standing there watching the video when he heard a voice to his side with a masculine, Massachusetts accent ask how he was.

The answer would have been self-explanatory. He wasn't doing well. Instead of addressing it directly, Ash looked to Jack and responded, "She could sing. I didn't know that. She could sing." It was at this moment that Ash felt a series of eyes on him from around the room. Hastily, he wiped his eyes. "Sorry Jack. Excuse me." Stepping up to Wayne, who had made a comment about buying her a drink, Ash commented, "She liked peach moonshine," and then took his leave. He found a quiet corner outside of the direct view of the television, leaned against a wall and forced himself to breathe. Just breathe. This was going to take more than a couple of days to work through.

Thalia Carmichael

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Thalia was another person who was keeping pretty much to herself. In defense of her actions, it wasn't like she was giving herself a whole lot of free time to socialize. That was likely for the best. In her previous life, she was a lot more willing to go out and engage other people in conversation, or go dancing, or get absolutely hammered in a pub and do what people did in Boston during their extensive and highly inclusive Drinking Season. She even dated. Well the recent years had brought about many changes in people, Thalia being no exception. If anything, she could be listed among the people who had exhibited some massive changes, even becoming the polar opposite in some ways.

Her work, or her assigned task, was to clean the Conference Room in the evening. She shared this job with the French guy. Latest addition to Club Quarantine. He seemed like an okay guy and Tatiana was close to him, but she didn't know the guy and wouldn't until she could observe him for a while. Tidying up in the evenings would be an acceptable way to start.

Otherwise, she trained with Tati. Ballet. Stretching. Getting her girlish figure pounded into a new form of deadly. Thalia used to be all about stealth, speed, and manual dexterity in a pinch. Well, in addition to her company training and college, but those hadn't been big topics lately. If the Russian ballerina could give her a leg up, so to speak, on her flexibility and footwork, all the better. Her workouts were definitely welcome. The little lady knew how to make her sweat, that was for damn sure. And Wayne? That guy was a trip. Still, she wasn't feeling all buddy-buddy yet.

She was feeling damn good so far as her stomach went, though. Looking at how much stuff she piled on her plate that first night, one might expect for her to be laid-up for a good long while. The superior metabolism and brutal survival instincts of Miss Thalia Angelica Carmichael would not be silenced by a small mountain of mashed potatoes and gravy, fishcakes, and various nuggets of yummy (including chowdah!) that she attacked with such vigor. Thalia hit the ground running.

Now, one thing that did give her an honest smile was getting a shiny new haircut. She was almost giddy about that. Her hair had gotten a little unruly as of late, and decent stylists were damn hard to come by recently. It had been a while since someone perfectly crafted her once-ubiquitous bobbed pixie hairstyle. It felt really good. A little of her old self. Not to be mistaken for a woman who had fallen onto something that mihgt make her soft, that new haircut got plastered down with sweat very shortly after getting it. Keeping at her physical best and staying mentally alert was more important than anything else.

Thalia had even gotten a chance to speak with Ash about the four people she they knew in common; her cousin Alicia, uncle Caesar, and friends Astrid and Bridgette, the latter two being part of the reason she was the way she was today. He was forthcoming with hard facts and dates, how they died, what they did for him, etc., but the big questions - the ones that would have required an essay answer if it was on a test - Ash tended to avoid. Especially about Alicia Gonzalez. Those were the ones that she had the most curiosity about. Hell, she saw the man's eyes glaze over and him shut down, talking about her. Referred her to Tatiana about it. Something had to have happened.

Thalia even asked Tatiana about it finally, sick of the the runaround. It was right after Tati asked her whether she wanted to train or play cards. "Nah girl. Cards aren't my thing." She had nothing against a hand or five of cards, and had been known to on occasion herself. Not then, however. There was sweat that needed to drip and muscles to tone, yet. No matter how much they were willing to exercise or drill, Thalia was the girl that was up for it. As soon as that prosthetic got fitted to her, the young woman was giving serious consideration toward adding Ash's exercise routine in with Tatiana's. Now if she could only get some weapons to practice with, that and her shield, life would be such bliss. "Hey, tell me something..." Her voice dropped to something far quieter, as the answer to the question might not be something she wanted broadcasted across the room, "What happened between your Captain and my Prima? He ain't talking about it himself. Says ask you. Something go down that shouldn't?" Her tone implied a suggestion of possible violence or impropriety.

Before that could be answered, Thalia finally noticed what was on the television. She noted the reaction of the Captain, and saw a lot of eyes looking in his direction. It looked like she wasn't getting her answer right then and there, that was for damn sure. She even found herself getting a little choked up over the video. Thana had been a good friend to her for about a year. They bonded over the death of a man who really, really deserved it, and up until a few months ago they were all a pretty kickass group of apocalypse survivors. Then things fell apart. Thalia kept her eyes on the screen, watching a younger version of Thana with her mouth slightly open.

Hank Wright

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

The life of Hank was a fairly uncomplicated affair. Especially at this juncture in the Apocalypse. Personal connections could be counted on one hand and all of them were under the roof with him. Okay, so that was just Wayne, but still - keep things simple and life goes so much smoother. It's just how things worked out. Take for instance his work assignment. Very straightforward. The bedrooms needed to be tended to each day. Not all of them, either. Well yes, they all needed to be cleaned, but his responsibility was to only handle the men's ones. And he had help. It was the kid, Hunter. So long as no difficulty existed between the two of them, Hank had zero issues taking an hour out of his busy day of napping and regular meals to clean a couple of rooms with the guy.

It wasn't all fun and games, though. The variable diet to which he had become accustomed (read: whatever he could scavenge and/or hunt over the past few years) had left him with a bit of a reaction after sampling the cuisine of the region, that being anything prepared in a sophisticated manner with out the benefit of either buckshot or a crapton of preserving agents. It was still well, well worth the cost of camping out in his bedroom's crapper, making the occasional exclamation like, "Ah jeez, canya find another bathroom there, Sportacus? I'm making my own gravy in here! ...lumps and all, buddy. Lumps and all." The issue was knocked out the next day, when Doc showed up. One pill and down. Hell of a guy, that Doc. Still a more pleasant experience than waking up in the middle of the night after Wayne fired off salvo from his own personal ass-cannon. Just because he had an iron stomach it didn't make it fair that everyone else had to suffer. Or did it? "Cross we all must bear," he supposed, shrugging with an noncommittal "Eh."

When Shears showed up, asking after people about haircuts, Hank ran his hand across the stubble that uniformly covered the top of his head and his face. "Nah, I'm all good for a while here." Always an unnecessary bit of sarcasm from the man.

As Hank looked back over the first few days in Mexico Beach, he could honestly say that the only thing that bothered him was a lack of industrious work to keep himself occupied. He was the kind of guy to liked to accomplish something for the sake of getting a job done. Now, cleaning rooms was okay and all, but it did lack a sort of "job well done" sort of satisfaction that one might get in having a hobby or an occupation. Fishing might be nice. Maybe flipping out an alternator on a car. That'd be something he could get his hands around. Well, quarantine wasn't supposed to be a picnic, he supposed. He checked - no checkered tablecloth or anything.

He had noticed that Wayne had taken up with the Russian girl. Learning ballet. Okay, that was worth a laugh or two at first, but it quickly became tiresome. Hell, if he wanted to learn ballet and call himself a princess, then more power to him. It was probably good exercise. Now that Army Captain was doing more of an actual exercise regimen that he could get behind, if he were of the opinion to do so. His philosophy on the matter, if anyone asked him was simple: "I don't want to work out. I want to work." Something about being productive, even if it was as repetitive as chopping wood or digging a hole. Otherwise he was just wasting his time.

Then again, all of this lack of doing something to keep himself occupied was beginning to grow boring, too. Taking it easy was awesome and all, but out there in the world he had a lot to do just surviving that took his time and kept him busy. While he enjoyed relaxing (and he really did), maybe he should find something else to do as well. Perhaps that was why, when Panama materialized a deck of cards, Hank was all about it. "Hey, hey! Deal me in there, Mutton Chops," he said, making a beeline for the small group gathering to play.

Now, he did notice the video being played, and he also was able to pick out what else was going on in the room. Being as he had no dog in this particular fight, he decided to stay far away from the building situation. Well, except to mention to his fellow card players, "Yeah, I feel like I walked into a movie that's already halfway over. I'll wait for a commercial to ask questions, thanks. So! How do we bet? I left my 'walking around cash' back in New Hampshire."

Tatiana Newnan

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: Psychology, People Reading

Glancing over to Thalia before she stood up, Tatiana thought on how to reply. It really wasn't her place to say. It wasn't as if she was a doctor or anything, no legal problems if she spilled the beans but then again, she didn't know Thalia a lot and Ash trusted her. Then again, he had said to Thalia more than once for her to ask Tatiana about it. Leaning close, she whispered against Thalia's ear so the rest of the group wouldn't hear. She didn't give much but it was enough to at least hopefully give the girl some idea of why Ash wouldn't talk about it. "They ve're dating vhen she died," she said in a hushed voice, doubly ensuring only that Thalia would hear her.

Once that was addressed, Tatiana turned her attention back to Ash. Not so much Ash but everyone else in the room that seemed to be trying to see what Ash would do. She had been guilty of it as well. General sister checking on brother check since it was Thana on the television. She didn't think the people watching him would have been as bad if Jack hadn't gone over there and said something. Last time someone said something to Ash after a hell of an emotional hit like that, well it hadn't ended well. She nearly face palmed herself but didn't say anything. Jack meant well. Watching Ash walk off she decided it was time to make sure all eyes were off him. Her protective instincts kicking in.

"дерьмо," she muttered in Russian under her breath. Looking at the television for a moment, she stepped behind Wayne and thwaped him upside the back of the head. "Hey, princess, dat his voman, shhh," she said in a motherly type voice, scolding the man who was obviously old enough to be her father. Not the other way around. Turning she went to step over to where Ash had walked off to, she stopped and looked around. Spotting the old book shelf and tilting her head to the side. She had an idea. Grabbing the edge of it on each side she started walking backwards, pulling the damn thing with her. It creaking and causing a loud squeal across the floor as she moved it foot by foot until she turned it and placed it against the wall closest to him, making sure it was jutting out to give privacy behind it.

Dusting her hands off she walked around to the other side of it where Ash was and sat down on the floor. Reaching up she grabbed his sleeve and pulled him down to the ground next to her. Letting her feet stretch out in front of her she leaned back against the wall. From where they were on the floor, no one in the room could see them. Save her ankles sticking out as she curled her toes and they popped. "Dere ve go, much better," she said with a bit of a smirk on her face. Sure he couldn't get out of the room to get a moment alone but at least now no one could stare at him. Resting her head back against the wall she handed over the small hand towel she had been using to pat the sweat off herself with. "We just need blanket and pillow nov, make a fort," she half teased.

Wayne Maldonado

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Wayne was loving this but he wasn't paying a lick of attention to Ash or anyone else. He wasn't exactly into country music but this was something different and different was good to him right then. Four days or the same thing, he got bored. He liked the whole dance thing with Tatiana and Thalia but once again, he was feeling his age a bit. Sure there were better ways to keep in shape but he wasn't about to pull what Ash had been, that shit was boring. He had to do something. The more active he was, the less he had to threatened the bucked toothed uni-fairy with being shoved in his pants.

As Ash spoke to him, that got his attention. "Well where the fuck do I get that? he asked. Peach Moonshine wasn't exactly something he had run across on his travels and it sure as hell wasn't something he thought he had seen in any liquor store before the outbreak. Seemed kind of specific. He was about to say more when he felt something hit him upside the back of the head. "Hey!" he said, jumping slightly and turning, about to knock the block off whatever asshat had just do that with the coffee cup in his hand. Then he spotted Tatiana and heard what she said. "Fuck, really? Way to go Captain!" he said and gave Tatiana a big shit eating grin as she walked off.

Looking towards the air he swatted at it and grabbed something out of mid air. "I warned you!" he said before shoving said nothing into his pants and grinning. Turning his attention back to the television. No one had told him to turn it off, so he wasn't going to. Like hell he was going to put on another John Hughes flick, no matter how much his little friend kept begging. Then again, right then the furry feathered fucker wasn't begging for any movie right then, he was begging for air, fresh air. Not the air in Wayne's pants. Wayne was snickering as he rubbed his ass into the cushion of his seat. He was enjoying this a bit too much.

Year 5: Part 2 Update

Date: July 19th, 2012
Map in Original OOC post - NPC's In CS Tab

Humidity: High (Around 73%) - No Rain

Cloud Coverage: Overcast

Okay, still hold you interviews those of you that are already done for them. I will start calling for them here and there in upcoming I.C. posts.

Panama slowly glanced over at the T.V. and smiled a bit before looked over towards Beatrice as she said she would join in. Seemed she was the only one so far. Most were either looking like they were watching the video or watching the Captain right then. Well, at least two others ended up joining the table. Riley took him up on the offer as did Hank. Four people. That would work. At least could make things interesting, at least as interesting as they could get right then. "Shit, hrm," he said as he set the cards down and started looking around. They did need something to bet with, what the fuck was the point without it?

Both Panama and Major's attentions was turned as the sound of finger nails on a chalk board echoed through the room. The man's eyes getting wide as he watched the little ballerina start pulling the five foot high book shelf from one end of the room to the other to create a make shift wall only to grab the Captain and pull him down by his sleeve. Turning he looked over towards the Major with a motion of his hands, as if asking if he or her should do something about that? She just shook her head and he shrugged. He needed to find something to use as a betting tool for the card game anyways. Man had an idea, walking over to the toys, he dug out a box of legos. They were too small of pieces for the baby to use, choking hazard and all that. Dropping the box on the table he grinned. "This'll work."

Panama was about to start handing out legos to use as money when the door of the Conference room opened and Atticus came in. Preacher looked around and took note of the looks on people's faces before he continued to walk forward. He stopped and looked over at the television, what was on got his attention. "Well thank fucking God, General's been looking for that tape for ages!" he said as he hit the eject button on the VCR and popped the tape out. Shoving it in the blank case he shoved it under his arm.

"Hey, Alexander, Thalia, you're with me. Gotta take you over to fabrication. Time to get your prosthesis, they can't do it in here," he said as he looked to both of them. "Oh and some of you start interviews today, so hold tight a bit longer," he added. Turning his attention back to the other two he adjusted his belt, seemed the padre was packing a side arm today. Though if he was taking them out of quarantine for this, it was probably protocol.

Amelia Payne

Location:Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Amelia decided to just relax now, close her eyes and listen to the tape and then the others. She wasn't going to be reading right now. She opened her eyes again and looked about, before Riley gave her a quick kiss. She nodded at her love as the musician went to play cards. At least she was going to enjoy it, Amelia wasn't going to be playing if she could help it... though then again, she suddenly had a small change of heart, despite the fact Beatrice was there and Amelia wasn't sure how to interact with her anymore still. Reading was all fine and good, simply relaxing with nothing to do was also good, but she could try a game of poker here... it was going to be a nice way to practice her math. She was always told mathematics and gambling went hand in hand.

She was just about to stand up and go to the table, but then Ash happened. Yeah his reaction was about as good as to be expected. Amelia felt bad for good old Ash, he was always trying to be their pillar of support, but what can they do for him in this situation? She didn't know what to do in this time of scenario. Luckily at least Tati seemed to though. She reprimanded Wayne, sort of and then proceeded to forming up a hiding place for Ash by moving that old Bookshelf. It was noisy... very much so. Anyway that seemed taken care of, so she decided to go at the cards table, only to be stopped mid action as Atticus showed up, picked the tape and said they would be interviewed soon.

She sighed and stood up, heading for the table finally." Actually can I play too?" She said quietly as she arrived at the table. She was going to attempt to Math the hell out of this game. Usually this was rare for her to head for a group of people, but quarantine was getting boring even for her and this was important for keeping her math from getting rusty. Also she didn't have to talk much in card games, she just had to play.

Emanuel "Manny" Newman

Location: Quarantine
Skills: N/A

The video was hard for Manny, but he kept watching. It was nice to see the two of them happy. It was easier to watch when Alexander came over to and sat on the couch with him. "Yeah, her singing is amazing. I wish we would have had a chance to hear it before now." Maybe the others have heard it before now, but this was a first for Manny, and he couldn't lie, he was impressed. He would sit and watch for a while before Atticus came in and shut it off. Though the old dentist did catch a glimpse of the makeshift divider across the room. He wondered if those who were closer to those in the video were struggling more. Manny wasn't apart of the old group, so he understood that there were plenty of people who in this room probably had a closer relationship to her.

Atticus had more reason to be in here other then a friendly hello. Past retrieving and presumably returning the home video, there was also grabbing Thalia and Alexander for prosthetics. Then there were interviews that would be coming up as well. Manny wondered if he would be back to more medical work, or if he could go right back into his dentist work as well? No... Probably not, there was always going to be someone who needed help, and he didn't know how many doctors and nurses they had here, but it always was good to have more. If something big happens, or if one of the medical figures is hurt, there is always a high demand for doctors. But if he was in a position to not be a doctor, at least not a standard doctor, just for a little bit, that could be exciting. To not have to handle life threatening situations anymore, it could be pleasant.

Manny gave a pat to Alexander's shoulder. "Thank you. You're a good man." He spoke calmly to his fellow Baby Boomer. "I look forward to seeing what they have put together for you." He was feeling a bit better, though that guilt would never leave him. Not really. He had a job to do, and the boy at Eden was dead now. He could have been more verbal, and Thana might have stayed. He decided, no matter what he was determined to do here, he would do it to the best of his ability. Anything form being a dentist again, to a professional limb remover, he would get his job done as well as needed.

For now, he needed to focus on the positive. His closest living friend was about to get a new leg, they were safe, they had food daily, things were okay. Sure they were hard at times, sure the world had ended and roughly 99% plus of the population was dead, but things were okay. They were alive. They were breathing, they were well fed, and they were protected. More or less. They were able to worry about simple things again. It was nice in it's own way, though it didn't help too much about the stress of the past.

Private Hunter James Monroe

Location: Quarantine
Skills: N/A

There were a lot of emotional people here giving Hunter a run for his money. He knew he had his own issues with emotional breakdowns the last few days, but that he figured was mostly trying to adjust to this new lifestyle. While the video ran, he noticed several people crying. Did they really miss the old days that much? Hunter found it odd overall. Sure, the old days were less likely to die, but now they made the rules, and they didn't have to pay taxes anymore. At least in the same way as before. Now someone could travel the entire country and not have to worry about going bankrupt doing so. But these people were crying over this? He remembered the first day here, when he had his breaking point hit. He figured the chances of so many people from several separate groups knowing Anyone in the video were slime, so he didn't think that was the case. "Okay then?" He said in a confused tone as everyone continued to be emotional. At one point he noticed the Russian woman dragging the bookcase across the room. He wondered if the guards if the guards would do nothing, or threaten to shoot her. So far, nothing.

Atticus came in, and the first thing Hunter noticed was the sidearm on the man. Figuring that looking at it too long would draw attention to him, he decided to hold off on identifying it. But he did take note of it, one more gun in play then before. Something smaller too. Something that could be concealed, or held with a single hand, leaving the other free for other actions. Though Hunter preferred two handed shooting, single handed was not out of the question. But again, he wouldn't pay too much attention to it now. He stopped the video that made so many tear up, and took it. Said something about interviews starting soon. But first, the pirate applicants were gonna get new peg legs and hooks. Hunter decided that if he was to lose his hand, he would go for a multi purpose metal stump. Something he could attach a blade too, or something he could grip the pump of a shotgun with. Either or sounded nice. If the leg, something with a hidden compartment. A good one too. Though that would depend on how much he lost.

Moving on from those thoughts, he figured if it was an interview, he would need to decide if he would stay or not. He figured he would stay long enough to get his strength back up, re familiarize himself with general combat and survival, earn some spare food rations, and then get back to it. Sure he didn't have any leads now, but he had Izibell. She was motivation enough. He might try North next, he vaguely remembers his mom mentioning something about a planned family trip there to see other family, though he didn't know where that family lived... He had time to figure that out though.

For now, Hunter decided he needed to occupy himself. TV was getting boring, and he didn't care to blindly look through the books right now. What was free, was the pool table. No one had claimed it yet today. Making his way to the currently unoccupied table he decided he would just do some practice shots. He hadn't played a game since he was a teenager, so he figured it would be fun. Seemed better then watching a video of other people having fun and listening to everyone crying over it. He set up the balls and grabbed his cue stick. Who knows, maybe this place could be decent?
