Charlotte felt her shoulders ease with tension as Layla finally departed, her hopes riding on this being their last encounter. She couldn't help but feel a subtle spark of excitement as she considered the prospect that they may finally all get to have a little bit of fun. However, there remained an issue before she could even consider such a thing. Her gaze drifted toward her father, his words echoing in her mind once more.

"Lottie had no hand in this! Please, spare her from suffering! I'll bear any burden! Just shield her from that wretched Calbert Damien!"

Her expression shifted as she frowned. Without a word, she knelt down before her father and enveloped him in a tight, heartfelt hug. It may have been the first hug they had shared in days. Though that quarrel days ago had estranged them, his words reminded her that, despite everything, they both wanted the same thing.

"Everything's okay, Lorenzo. No one is going to suffer and I am right here."

After a moment, she gently broke the embrace and extended her hands toward him. "Ready to stand?"

Feeling Layla's legs squirm against his grip pulled Lorenzo back to reality. He was still holding her... He was alive and somewhat wellā€¦ Charlotte was aliveā€¦ And best of all, he wasn't in hell with Calbert as his demonic torturer. His hold loosened as he let out a sigh of relief. With Layla escaping his grasp, he planted one hand down on the brittle sand, taking a few deep breaths. The other held the half-drunken smoothie. I'm still aliveā€¦ Why? He peered up at Layla.

ā€œI think you must be cursed, Duke Lorenzo. No good deed goes unpunished, does it? Keep your distance and think before you act, Duke.ā€ Her words had bite but compared to other times, it was more likeā€¦ nibble. She nibbled himā€¦ after how he had acted. After what he had done. He wasn't quite sure if the pity that befell him was supposed to hurt more than the punishments he had perceived previously but to him, this was a godsend.

And then just like that, Layla departed and his loving daughter gave him some much-needed embrace.

"Everything's okay, Lorenzo. No one is going to suffer and I am right here."

Charlotte was so patient with him. So caring, as if he were her darling child. The roles they played were as flipped and reversed as they could ever be. Why?

Lorenzo remained silent as wiped his tears away with one hand and reached for Charlotte's hand with the other. He didn't utter a word to her and simply nodded as he pushed himself up from the sand.

ā€œI apologizeā€¦ for that .ā€ His voice was low and filled with shame. He didn't dare try to turn around to face Calbert. If he didn't have to engage the count, he wouldn't. If anything, Lorenzo needed to keep himself from ruining anything else. Carefully peering over his shoulder, he spotted Ariella who he had left to wait by the water. So careful he was not to look any further. ā€œI think I will head back to the estateā€¦ Ariella Edwards would like to see some of our flowers in the garden.ā€ Delivering a curt nod with a solemn face, Lorenzo walked from the beach blanket with his strawberry smoothie in hand. He would wave Ariella over, so they could depart.

Still, his thoughts plagued him. His doubts. His embarrassment.

Prince Wulfric was rightā€¦

Munir, against his character, made a quiet entrance to the garden party hosted by King Edin and the rest of the Sorian courtesans. Given the recent events in his life, he was in much need of some fresh air and some courtly mingling. Munir was dressed for the event of course, having gotten himself some Sorian clothing made while he was here, instead of wearing strictly the clothing he brought over from home.

Walking into the garden, Munir nodded quietly to the guests present. Those that spoke to him, he asked them to keep his arrival quiet, as to not cause a scene.

As Munir was looking around to see who was all present, he spotted Count Sebastian and subsequently Mina as well. His natural instinct was telling him to approach Mina and speak with her regarding what happened. But he also noticed that she was speaking happily to another man. Their interaction seemed quite close. Munir observed the small touches and physical contact between Mina and this man. He asked a passing servant as to what their conversation was about, and the servant dutifully responded by telling Munir of the plan for a silent auction. Munirā€™s eye twitched, as a quiet rage sprang up within himā€¦

He decided to approach Count Sebastian for a quick word of invitation. Surely he wouldnā€™tā€¦ lay his hands on him in such a public venue. He made his off to a nearby table and quickly drafted a small note. The note reads ā€œCount Sebastian, I humbly request your present at the West tea room this evening perhaps, to speak of our last...meeting... I shall await your presence. I bid you good day. Clean and concise. Just how Munir wants it. Handing the note off to his retainer Hakim, Munir asked him to deliver the note to the count and stay with him, to await his response.

Next, he kept his presence low, and did his best to blend into the crowd, hoping to remain unseen for the time beingā€¦

Time: Late Morning
Location: Sorian Beach
Attire:Cassius
Mentions/Interactions:@princess Charlotte / Calbert, @SausagePat Ruby, @Potter Olivia, @Tae Kali, @FunnyGuy Renzo

Cassius had been keeping tabs on his fatherā€™s advance even as he lifted Ruby and walked over to the blanket with Charlotte and Oliva. Amongst all the chaos that played out since his and Kalliopeā€™s arrival at the beach, his father approaching had been present in the back of his mind. This would be their first real interaction in a public setting such as this, and he was definitely curious to see how things would unfold.

Honestly, he still wasnā€™t quite sure how the Count was going to view him once the newness wore off and all that was left was a man unwilling to be anything other than himself. He was certain that there was nary a chance he would be the ideal son his father dearest might have hoped for, but that didnā€™t bother Cassius one bit. Despite the manā€™s niceness towards him and the warm, if not peculiar welcome he had received from both Calbert and Liliane alikeā€¦there was just something about the man that gave him pause. The way his father looked at people was reminiscent of a general looking at the pieces of a battle plan as he prepared for war. It hadnā€™t taken Cassius but a few interactions to see this, but that was only because he knew the type. He wasnā€™t so sure that everyone saw past his fatherā€™s charm. Sometimes it takes a bit of a scoundrel to see through the bullshit of a man such as Calbertā€¦but stillā€¦he wondered if his instincts were correct, which they usually were, or if he was simply projecting the shrouded pieces of himself on the man without really giving him enough of a chance. Either way, he knew that particular mystery would be solved in time. Until then he would simply enjoy the ride.

Cassius bent to gently place Ruby down on the blanket, making sure to brush the sand from her face delicately before looking up to watch his father make the rounds with his advisor, greeting the different groups on the beach and inviting them to some party at the Damien estate later that evening. His attention turned towards Charlotte and Oliva with curiosity as words formed on the tip of his tongue to answer Oliviaā€™s offer of a sandwich, but they never escaped his lips as he took in the sight of the girls now that Calbert had made himself known. Both of the women were reacting to the Countā€™s arrival, their change in body language was obvious to him as someone who had spent his life learning how to read others. He could almost literally feel the tension in the air as Calbert finally made his way to their little group.

Charlotteā€™s hands were trembling.

Was sheā€¦afraid?

Just what had his father done to elicit such a reaction? Cassius felt pulses of discomfort shoot through him at the sight of Charlotte like that, especially at the very thought that his own father could be the cause of such a shift in mood.

"It's so nice to see you making friends, Cassius. Do take your time and have fun, but I'd like to speak to you once you're throughā€¦I'll be awaiting you at home" Calbert addressed him first, Cassius responded to his first comments with a charming nod and ironic bow. Before he could speak, the man continued. "I see you've met Lady Charlotte Vikena... Though I suspect this isn't your first encounter.ā€ Cas raised an eyebrow at the little remark. He must have heard about their first meeting the other night. It didnā€™t surprise him given how things had played out, but stillā€¦as his fatherā€™s tone soured a bit, Cassius had to fight the urge to smirk. Had he already disappointed his dear olā€™ dad? "As I said, we have some things to discuss. ".

ā€Of course, father. I look forward to the conversation.ā€ His words came out mostly genuine, despite the little tinge of sarcasm that painted almost everything that escaped his lips. ā€And, Iā€™m also quite looking forward to this masquerade of yours. I wouldnā€™t miss it for the world.ā€

Cassius continued to watch as his father turned his attention to Charlotte and Olivia. Charlotteā€™s eyes kept their gaze to the ground, and Olivia began stuffing her face with her sandwich. Both were clearly tactics of avoidance. The interaction only lasted a handful of seconds, but it may as well have been hours in the way that it informed Cassius about the girlā€™s feelings toward his father. An ungodly curiosity stirredā€¦a need to know why they seemed so frightened of the man grew furiously within him, but he held it at bay. For now.

Once his father left, Charlotte was finally able to go address the situation with the man that he could only assume was her own father.Cassius took in the sight of the man once more. If that was indeed her dad, the dichotomy of their individual patriarchs was vast. As he watched Charlotte comfort the man, Cassius let his mind drift to Oliviaā€¦who had buried her head in her hands and was clearly in need of a bit of comfort herself, or even just a distraction. He would try his hand at a bit of both. Sitting down on the other side of the blanket a few feet from her, he spoke.

ā€Lady Olivia, despite all of theā€¦letā€™s call it FUN that has unfolded this morningā€¦I wanted to say that it truly has been lovely to meet you. Iā€™m not used to all of this. Wellā€¦Iā€™m used to the chaos. I quite like it from time to time in fact. What Iā€™m not as used to is the concept of being noble.ā€ A fun smile formed on his face as he continued in a hushed tone. ā€™I would be lying if I didnā€™t admit that I feel like a bit of a mutt surrounded by show dogs. But thatā€™s just what life is sometimesā€¦and as far as mutts go, Iā€™m quite capable of playing with the fancy dogs if I must. Who would I be if I didnā€™t love a challenge? What about you, are you used to all of the song and dance of noble life? Something tells me perhaps not.ā€ His tone was pleasant and playful as he spoke, but as finished his sentence his eyes fell to the sandwiches and he could feel the slight growl of hunger in his belly. Before you answer, is your offer from before still on the table? Those sandwiches look like an absolute dream at the moment.ā€

This really was a show after all, Layla was quick to pull everyoneā€™s attention and continue with her spiteful rhetoric. This over the top show of self-importance just made him think that it could be for show, to show them that they were insignificant. It could also be a play, somehow, she would stand to gain from this exchange. He didnā€™t think it was to try and start a war or skirmish but maybe more to sully the name of Vikena, a political play then makes those around them loose faith in their ability to properly handle themselves.

The exchange from the others wasnā€™t any less then she was throwing out. He could only think as to how these words would affect the younger peers around him. Most of them were fragile well maybe not the best word for it but he had noticed how even the smallest slight can replay in their minds. This coming from the many private conversations he has had with others in similar situations. The self-image of those so high up could be very fragile at times.

He was pulled from his thoughts momentarily when John stepped up to be the mediator. Roman knew he still had to play the lovable fool but he still had a job to do. He would not show off his fancy fighting skills here, as it wouldnā€™t match the profile of a bad fighter that he claims to be. Still, he would act in the manā€™s defense if it came to blows from either her guards or someone else.

That someone was indeed Lorenzo, a man famous for his observation skills. He seemed to be standoffish to the doctor with his words and body language. What happened next made him raise an eye brow and stifle a laugh. Clamoring to the princessā€™s legs after brushing his hand against her face. That man would do fine in Emberstone, as long as he could take a punch or two, Roman could see him getting even the oldest veterans to laugh with his bad luck.

He could barley pull his gaze away from the scene to see what was happening with ruby as the new Damien family member carried her over to the shade. Ruby was always getting herself into some kind of trouble, he didnā€™t know her personally but she was able to make him laugh a time or two with his time spent at the tough tavern. The reminder that he still owed a few songs to the bar keep crept into his mind, something he would have to settle later.

He began approaching the small group again but stopped short when he spotted count Damien make his way up the beach with his entourage. His paranoia and frankly the paranoia of the other members of nobility made them easy to find, it was hard to miss so many well-armed individuals in what should be a well-protected and monitored city. Their reliance for more men for more safety just makes them look weak and easy targets.

Calbert was saying something to the man next to him but he couldnā€™t hear what was being said, the only thing he could make out with his limited ability to lip read with his not so subtle side eye to the count was well nothing to go on. When he did come closer he seemed to be giving out invitations to his party tonight. As well as some sort of apology to Kazu that didnā€™t seem to want to talk about it. Roman eyed over the gear and equipment his guards where using, locking curious and concerned eyes with him occasionally. It seemed rather mundane, going for numbers instead of equipment. A strategy that would only slow down a well-prepared attacker.

"Good morning gentlemen. I'd love to extend an invitation to both of you. Lord Roman, I do know you have your own event tonight and I am certain it will be a wonderful time, but do feel free to drop by at any time. Dr. John, always a pleasure. You have my utmost gratitude for your accompaniment the other night. We have much to discuss, so hopefully I'll see you there tonight."

As good as a time as ever to play the fool, ā€œAhh thank you for the invitation, it is unfortunate that my celebrations will last until the early hours of the morning. Otherwise I would have loved to join you. Hopefully I will be able to partake in your next arrangement, do send my regards to lady Violet, Iā€™m looking forward to our next conversation.ā€ His smile never faded as he watched the man go. He knew that neither of them were idiots and he was sure that the count had read the gossip column of the paper a few days prior just as he had.

Causing trouble wasnā€™t always something he strived for yet, he found that infuriating the man and getting him to think of his daughters well being more would pull his attention away from other endeavors. Thatā€™s not to say that he felt like Violet was a simple pawn, he did enjoy her company but it still felt good to rattle the manā€™s cage where others likely wouldnā€™t be able too.

Once the count had left and everything seemed to be settling down Roman made his way back over to the blanketed area where the others where. He noticed the red head who he couldnā€™t remember the name of holding her head in her hands with Cassius seemingly trying to comfort her. Taking a few steps around the blanket as the others cared for ruby and ate their sandwiches. He stopped a few steps away from the duo staying out of her personal space but still close enough to talk.

Sitting down in the warm sand he gave them a smile, ā€œnobility can be assholes sometimes huh? At least ruby seems to be alright.ā€ deciding to go with a bit of humor and show some worry for their friend first. Nodding to Cassius as he invited himself into their conversation being the socially inept person he was trying to be. ā€œNice to meet you again Cassius, I see you are also here to check on miss Olivia?ā€ he spoke the last part with a bit of a question as he wasnā€™t entirely sure thatā€™s what Charlotte introduced her as.

ā€œI know how easy it is to feel powerless in these kinds of situations. You feel like you canā€™t defend your friends because doing so may disrespect some Royal somewhere and then your friend has to apologize for you.ā€ He still gave the two of them a smile glancing momentarily over to where Layla had walked off in. ā€œwhen it comes to nobility and royalty you have to come at them at an angle, indirectly as some may say.ā€ He gave them a sly smile as he concocted his plan, ā€œyou see I enjoy Charlottes company even if we are not the closest of friends. So, my company, the Ravenwood artisanā€™s guild, has several long-lasting contracts with Laylaā€™s father and her family for pretty much everything we make for them and their kingdom. In turn, I will be sending a notice that due to her actions and blatant disrespect we will be raising the cost of our wares by 5% for the next year.ā€ A short pause as he picked up a handful of sand and let it slip through his fingers slowly. ā€œits not much, a drop in the bucket at what they can afford. But our contract changes are public to their advisors. This will smudge her familyā€™s reputation, wonā€™t be by much. But, when you get to the proverbial top of the social ladder reputation is everything.ā€

Eyes heavy. Weighted down over her eyeballs like sheets tucked tightly under their bed corner. Limbs weak; a few jolts shot through them in an attempt to regain control, but alas nothing of significance came about. Ruby was paralyzed by her fear, or maybe this was one of those sleeps that you couldnā€™t wake from. Ruby had had those many times beforeā€“ the sort where you know that youā€™re sleeping, only the mind and body disagree entirely. She didnā€™t remember exactly what happened last, yet she could hear some mumbles coming from those around her.

ā€œYououer maj ..estey- BYYYY THE GOODS! NNUOOO!ā€ someone was shouting, yet the words came to her quite distorted.

"Excuse me... Lord Cassiusā€¦Could you please assist ..ā€ Cassius! Is that his name? Oh dear. I am so sorry, Casseroā€“ius! I meant you no offense!

Hello?? Why is nobody answering me!? Ruby heard further mumbling, although anymore was indecipherable to her sleeping mind. The next thing that she felt was a sensation of her hair being plucked out of her head. This irritated her ever-so intensely that she might just be able to snap out of it. Time for her was moving at an unreliable pace. One more irritated jolt pulsated through her body, and then she soared upright and out of her sleep.

ā€œWaaOWW!.. LET GO OF MY HAIR, SCOUNDREL.ā€ Ruby shouted in frustration and pain. Shocked, she gazed around at the group that joined her on a blanket in the sand. A new face was present, and several familiar ones appeared in front of her. She vigorously rubbed her eyes to make sure she was awake this time. ā€œLivvy! Oh, it is so good to see you. Iā€“ I didnā€™t meant that.ā€ she blurted out, recalling now that her words were unwarranted.

ā€œWhat is going on? Did we all get entirely too slap-happy on this beach earlier?ā€ Ruby chuckled in amusement as she strove to remember earlier events. ā€œHey, I remember!ā€ Ruby pointed at Cassius, who was sitting on the blanket in front of her, and shook her finger across the circle at Olivia and the other fellow as well. ā€œThat devil girl, Layla? Is that her name? Ohh, she must have brought some bad juju to this-here beach! I am very sensitive to that kind of stuff!ā€ she said in a high-pitched, concerned-kind of voice. ā€œWhat about you all? Are you quite alright?ā€ Ruby projected her concern onto her friends, and with complete sincerity, she gripped Livā€™s hand and gave it a nice squeeze.

ā€œThank you.ā€ she muttered. She was not entirely sure as to what she was thanking Olivia for, nonetheless she knew that she had assisted in some way in bringing her to the safety of this environment after that evil witch nearly took them all down. Her eyes were wide with gratitude at this moment. In the next moment to come, Ruby had something else on her mind.

ā€œDid you guys bring any snacks? Any nibblers? This is just the perfect spot for a picnic."

Olivia looked up at Cassius when he addressed her. She listened and nibbled on her sandwich. Upon him calling the bullying by Layla ā€œfunā€, she let out a musical laugh. What an understatement. When he mentioned being used to chaos, Olivia had difficulty hiding her frown. What happened in his previous life? She didnā€™t have time to ponder further; he continued speaking, and it would be rude of her not to continue listening. He spoke of feeling like a mutt amongst the nobles, and for this, Olivia relaxed ā€“ enough to remain on guard, but not be as tense. Gratitude pulsed through her at his words; heā€™d put the way sheā€™d felt her entire life into one sentence eloquently. Despite him clearly being noble, heā€™d lived as a peasant it seemed. Perhaps they had more in common than sheā€™d initially thought. When he inquired about her feelings, she shrugged noncommittally. To live her life as this lie, she couldn't afford to mess up in front of anyone but Charlotte.

ā€Certainly. Go ahead. They are delicious. Lottie and I made them this morning.ā€ Olivia replied and moved over to hand him a fresh sandwich. With a coy smile, she continued. ā€Donā€™t tell anyone, but I think Iā€™ve eaten most of them.ā€ A faint giggle escaped her, and she commenced eating her food once more.

Olivia looked up once Roman joined them. She didnā€™t know enough about him to form an opinion. He was a blacksmith from Varian; that was the extent of her knowledge. He had stood up for Charlotte and the rest. Thus, he seemed safe enough to converse with Cassius. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips at his words. The urge to trash nobles was on the tip of her tongue, but she swallowed and digested them instead. She nodded in agreement though, because denying it after witnessing Layla would be travesty. ā€Yes, I am thankful that Ms. Ruby over here is all right. That was dramatic.ā€

She smiled when he addressed her and stood up carefully. Bowing and handshakes were important as nobles. Being friendly, kind and cordial was as well. ā€Ms. Olivia is correct. Iā€™m a family friend of the Vikenaā€™s, particularly Devan,ā€ She pointed at Charlotteā€™s cousin whoā€™d been napping on the beach towel. ā€Itā€™s an honor to meet you, Mr. Roman!ā€ Olivia bowed kindly to him and then returned to her spot. Olivia patted the spot beside her for him to join her, should he feel inclined. ā€Would you like a sandwich too? They are delightful!ā€

He continued speaking, and Oliviaā€™s head began to spin. Whatever he discussed with Cassius went above her head. However, he spoke of belonging to a guild, and the idea of his resources interested her. How she longed for a more functional bow. Although Liv knew she would have to lay low with using bows, she decided to store it in the back of her mind. Olivia remained quiet during their discussion and busied herself with adjusting her hair bun and fiddling with the trinkets inside it.

Rubyā€™s unexpected outburst caused Liv to jump. She whirled around with concern etched on her expression. She realized early on this girl was dramatic, but this was still a shocker. Olivia sighed with relief seeing that she was awake. She chuckled and shook her head at Ruby. Regardless of the girlā€™s intentions, she replied to her with sincerity. ā€Itā€™s good to see you too, Ru.ā€ Olivia dubbed the nickname ā€˜Ruā€™ to Ruby. Olivia busied herself with eating her sandwich as she listened. It was challenging not to speak out of turn, and Liv sensed constriction in her head. A scowl formed briefly, then disappeared quickly.

When Ruby mentioned being slap happy, she laughed genuinely. What a sweet way to state the recent actions. ā€We are doing better, thanks Ruby. How are you?ā€ She nodded and gestured to the picnic basket. ā€Charlotte and I made sandwiches and other finger foods here. Please feel free to take them.ā€ Olivia reached over to the basket, pulled out several sandwiches, and then distributed them to Cassius, Roman, and finally, Ruby. ā€Now that the witch is gone, letā€™s eat.ā€ Olivia giggled and glanced over at Charlotte to see if she wanted to join them. Silently, she met the girlā€™s eyes, and as if telepathically, her gaze said: Weā€™re here when youā€™re ready! Then, Liv turned back to the group.

Sadie smiled when Duke Edwards joined their table. The smile was polite and cordial, much like the way she had been raised. However, the addition of his father now incorporated a new vibe to their table. Now there was the added pressure of the Duke joining them. Undoubtedly, this entire interaction would reach her parentā€™s ears and further increase the importance of not messing up. The churning in her stomach intensified like a hurricane at sea. The anxiety she held at bay was threatening to overwhelm her. She had to stay calm, and remain prim and proper. Sadie swallowed and began bouncing her leg under the table. It was both a mechanism to release her anxiety and pent up energy.

How Drake addressed his father seemed pleasant enough. Despite the innocence, Sadie wondered what if there was a double meaning. Nonetheless, it was not her business, so she remained silent. While the two discussed their lives together, Sadie wondered what her parents were up to right now. Were Felix and Beatrice enjoying their time at home? She hoped they were. Sadie, despite enjoying time with Drake, was becoming restless with the tea party. Those two were better suited for these events, of maintaining conversation, and acting prim and proper. Sadie went to chew her fingernails before remembering the gloves and why she had worn them. With a quiet sigh, she folded her hands around her tea mug.

Finally, introductions were in order, and Sadie faced them both. A smile greeted them both from ear-to-ear. ā€Itā€™s so nice to meet you, Duke Edwards!ā€ Sadie chirped in response, quickly and eloquently. Well, it would have been, if she hadnā€™t nearly knocked over her mug in her haste to respond. She recovered quickly and released the mug in order not to upset it further. ā€Yes, we met at the beach the other day while I collected seashells. For charity purposes, and also, because I enjoy crafts.ā€ She gestured to her tiara and necklace with a continued smile. ā€Your son is quite lovely, Mr. Edwards. Youā€™ve done a great job raising him and teaching him everything.ā€ She dipped her head respectfully and remained quiet afterwards.

When he spoke of intruding, she waved him off gently. It was as if the notion was nonsense and not to allow it to sully their time together. ā€Yes, weā€™ve heard of the masquerade. I plan to attend tonight. We are both meeting there tonight!ā€ She laughed delightedly, and remained cordial and peppy as normal. The butterflies were now threatening to drown her in her anxiety. The expectations, the rumors, the gossip, if she ruined her parent's names; the list continued growing in her head. Sadie moved her hands to the edge of her chair and did her best to remain outwardly happy for them both.

Time: Late Morning
Location: The Beach
Interactions: Calbert @princess, Sjan-dehk @Apex Sunburn
Aesthetic: Swimsuit

Kalliope felt a mix of emotions as she walked beside Sjan-dehk along the beach. The unexpected peck on his cheek had been impulsive, driven by a surge of gratitude and perhaps something more she couldn't quite define. She noticed the faint pink tint on his cheeks and the way he nervously scratched his face, and it brought a subtle smile to her lips. But then she felt a surge of disgust within herself as Laylaā€™s words echoed in her mind. Perhaps she was nothing more than a whore? Her stomach lurched and she felt ill, but she kept her composure as she tried to push the thought away.

His words, however, tugged at her heart. She appreciated his defense and the way he stood up for her, but she also saw the unease in his eyes. It was clear that the encounter with the princess had left an impression on him, and she felt a strange mixture of gratefulness and guilt. Grateful for his support, and guilty for involving him in this awkward situation. She could only pray that she hadnā€™t left a bad impression of herself on him.

Sjan-dehk's comments about the princess made her chuckle softly. "Yes, it seems we've stumbled upon the less savory side of nobility today," she replied, her voice carrying a touch of wry humor especially as she caught a glance of Count Damien seeming to be headed their way. What could he possibly want? Her attention was pulled back to the man beside her, however, as she gave him her full attention once more.

His mention of the Way intrigued her. Kalliope had heard some of Jafin's teachings and the principles that guided the people of Viserjanta from Izahn. It was a refreshing perspective, one that emphasized the potential for redemption and the impact of one's past experiences. She respected that viewpoint and appreciated Sjan-dehk's attempt to find some compassion for the princess, especially since she found herself struggling to do so.

As he spoke about her character and her actions, she couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth. It was as if a weight had been lifted, and his words helped dispel some of the lingering unease from the encounter. His smile and encouragement were a balm to her wounded pride.

When he pulled away and apologized, she shook her head gently, her expression softening. "No need for apologies, Sjan-dehk. I didnā€™t mind, truly. You've been a true friend today, and I appreciate it," she said sincerely.

Kalliope watched Calbert approach with a polite and composed expression, though beneath it, her thoughts were far less gracious. The man was a snake, and she found herself thoroughly disliking him. His facade of politeness didn't fool her for a second, and his smile only made her trust him less. Though she realized she likely knew more about him than most others thanks to her line of work.

As he handed her the invitation, she took it gracefully and inclined her head in acknowledgment. "Thank you for your kind words, Calbert. It's good to be back," she replied, her tone polite but devoid of genuine warmth.

When he turned his attention to Sjan-dehk, her gaze flickered briefly to her companion. She couldn't help but wonder what Calbert's true intentions were in approaching them. Her suspicions were on high alert, but she kept her expression pleasantly neutral as she observed the interaction between Calbert and the Captain.

Once he had walked away, she found herself quietly speaking to Sjan-dehk about the man. ā€Careful with him, heā€™s a wolf in disguise.ā€ She wouldnā€™t say more than that before glancing down at the invitation and being reminded of the masquerade sheā€™d invited Sjan-dehk to yesterday. ā€But I suppose his approach did help me think of something. Before I let you get back to your day, are we still going to the masquerade tonight together?ā€

Mina couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement as Alexander agreed to her suggestion about the date auction. His teasing response and the touch of his hand on her shoulder sent a warm sensation through her. She chuckled at his imitating wink and felt curiosity flow through her as he said he didnā€™t find comfort in her being an option for the date night. It was Callum who suggested it be a bachelor auction and this just added to the fun of the situation. "A bachelor auction, you say? Now that sounds intriguing and then you wouldnā€™t have to worry about me being considered an option at all," she replied, her eyes twinkling mischievously as she looked between the men, her gaze finally landing on Alexander. "And I'm more than happy to help host with you. It sounds like it could be quite an event and a delightful new experience."

Callum then excused himself and Mina bid him farewell, briefly watching him leave, but then Mina's attention was momentarily diverted. She had spotted Munir entering the tea party, and it took her by surprise. Her heart raced, and her thoughts became jumbled as she tried to process his unexpected presence. Memories of their last encounter, his offer of marriage, and the intense emotions she had felt came flooding back.

She stumbled over her words, her sentences becoming disjointed. "Um, Alexander, I, uh, sorry, I just... I saw someone, and, uh, never mind," she mumbled, clearly shaken by the unexpected sight of Munir.

Mina took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. "So, about this bachelor auction, I think it's a fantastic idea," she said, her voice steadier now. "It'll add a unique twist to the event, and I'm sure it will be a huge success. We can definitely rally more support and hash out the details as you suggested."

She shot Alexander a flirtatious smile, hoping to pick up where they left off before her brief distraction. "Now, where were we? Ah, yes, the charms of a date night," she purred, her playful tone returning as she continued their flirty conversation. ā€I must say, Iā€™m intrigued that youā€™re concerned about me potentially having been one of the contenders. Worried you wouldnā€™t be able to win me for a date night perhaps?ā€ She asked, clearly teasing.

The appearance of the Count came as a surprise, but a welcome one. If nothing else, it served as a much needed distraction for Sjan-dehk from his troublesome thoughts. Although if he had to be honest, it wasnā€™t the Count himself that drew his attention as much as it was his herald. Or perhaps that other man was just an attendant? Either way, Sjan-dehk found the manner in which he introduced the Count to be as puzzling as it was intriguing. Any Viserjantan Count who had themselves introduced in such a manner would have been swiftly chastised for being presumptuous and acting beyond their rank. Sjan-dehk had been present for enough such scoldings ā€“ unwilling of a participant as he had been ā€“ to know that such a mistake would be at best, an embarrassment, and at worst, an insult to someone of a higher rank.

Sjan-dehk stowed this observation away. The old books and journals that had brought him to these shores did mention that Caesonia had a different method of ranking their nobles. Unfortunately, Sjan-dehk hadnā€™t paid enough attention to them to find out if anyone had actually written down how the ranks worked. A visit to the Sudah and the Royal Tutor later seemed to be in order, and he groaned inwardly as the prospect of a lecture from the wizened, old man.

The Count approached Kalliope after his greetings. Immaculate in his dress and bearings, his words were spoken with the airs of a learned man, or at least someone who absorbed books like a dried sponge. It felt like a refreshing breath after the whole debacle with Layla. The tension emanating from his brief exchange with Kalliope thus came as yet another puzzle. There was nothing in their words, but Sjan-dehk could feel it in her tone, and see it from the shallow smile on the Countā€™s face. Clearly, there was something here that he was missing.

He caught Kalliopeā€™s gaze just as the Count addressed him. Sjan-dehkā€™s brows arched, and his lips curled into a grin, as he heard the familiar greeting. ā€œFair weather to you,ā€ he gave the typical Jafin response, but quickly added, ā€œNo need for that. It is tooā€¦Important? No, formal. Only used for important things. For this, can just say normal greetings. Also, it is old. Not used by most people. Only by bigger nobles.ā€ It had been a long time since Viserjantans visited this part of the world in any significant numbers, so it made sense for the Count to use an archaic greeting. All the same, however, it greatly tickled and amused Sjan-dehk.

ā€œI am Wasun Sjan-dehk, fourth Lesser Marquis of Jafi.ā€ Sjan-dehk introduced himself quickly with a bow of his head as he took the offered invitation. ā€œNo need for anything now, but thank you. We rest on our ships and we buy what we need. But if we need help, then I willā€¦Remember you.ā€ The Count stepped away to speak with the rest, leaving Sjan-dehk to examine the small slip of paper in his hand. With everything that had happened, he had almost forgotten about the masquerade were it not for this little reminder. A sinking feeling plunged into his gut as he wondered if he should still attend.

Kalliopeā€™s warning about the Count was only half-heard by him, and he responded with a simple nod. The Count seemed like a decent person, and Sjan-dehk was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he would still treat him like any other noble of a higher rank: carefully, cautiously, and with only the necessary norms and respects.

ā€œHe seems nice enough, but thank you,ā€ he said with a slow nod. Far more important to him at the moment than the possible intrigues a Count might be up to, was the question of the masquerade. Despite himself, Sjan-dehk couldnā€™t help but wonder if he was the right person to accompany Kalliope. Surely, given their relationship, Cassius would be a better choice? Or maybe Sjan-dehk was reading far too much into things, and this was, as she had said the other day, her doing him a favour. The more he thought about it, the more that seemed likely, and really, it wasnā€™t him to pull out of an agreement just because of a bit of discomfort. A word given had to be a word kept, as his father liked to say.

And so, Sjan-dehk gave her a smile and held up the invitation. ā€œItā€™d be rude not to show up after getting an invite from the Count himself, I think.ā€ There was a touch of playfulness lacing his words. ā€œIā€™m still willing to accompany you, if youā€™re still willing to have me. I have to ask, though, how are we meeting? At the estate itself or elsewhere?ā€

ā€œEnjoy yours as well, prince. The Black Rose will maintain contact for anything you might need,ā€ Alexander smiled. He was quite pleased with the auction's development concerning the bachelor's. It would give some lords a chance to place their daughters into the paths of eligible potentials at the cost of coin rather than making the best of a long game of garnering good impressions.

Mina agreeing to host alongside him was a pleasant addition to the project they were pursuing. To be closer to her was a personal matter and though he did not foresee himself having trouble doing so, the auction was a sure way to solidify that. He was being reeled in without much effort, getting closer and closer to the bow of her vessel. All he needed was for her to pull him inā€¦

A delight.

With the planning of the auction secured, he shifted his attention back to Mina, looking upon her with his winning smile. However, it was short-lived as he noticed panic surface over her expression. He placed a hand on her upper arm and turned towards her field of vision as she spoke of seeing someone she recognized. His face contorted into a scowl as he became defensive for Mina. Even as she changed the topic, his eyes scanned the crowd.

ā€œYes,ā€ he replied though he wasn't entirely listening to what Mina was saying about the auction. Nothing. Whoever had startled Mina had mysteriously vanished or made their presence less than obvious. Returning his sights to the woman in his grasp, Alexander couldn't help but look slightly concerned. He wore a smile of course, but his brows had a slight furrowing.

ā€œMina, I amā€¦ā€ He took a step closer to her, his hand sliding down to her wrist. With his voice now a whisper, he continued. ā€œ...not a man who gambles things I find extraordinarily precious.ā€ He could feel her radial pulse beat so fervently from his touch. ā€œI'm far more concerned with how you're doing. Something troubling you? Are you comfortable, Mina?ā€ He asked, his voice as gentle as the strum of the harp across the garden. ā€œIf you like, we could schedule something. Just you and I. No distractionsā€¦ No discomforts.ā€

"Oh how lovely! You both are simply getting along fantastically!" Duke Gideon rejoiced in the success of his son, and was relieved that at least one of the Edwards was enjoying themselves this fine morning. With a cursory glance he could see the veins practically popping out of his wife's head from afar as she interacted with Prince Callum. The sight of him barefoot and enjoying some pastries alongside the Duchess made Gideon shudder to think how this would all repricate back at the homestead. That girl is truly her mother's worst nightmare... He thought to himself, knowing only one person in all of Sorian who simply loved to get in touch with the earth and walk in her bare shoes in such a way.

His attention turned back to the pair for the time being, wanting to properly close off any interaction before running to soothe his dear wife as best he could. "I thank you for your kind words Princess. It seems the tales of your cheery attitude and the way your carry yourself are mere shells compared to the actual person. And as for my son..." The man paused before patting on Drake's shoulder. "The boy has done plenty on his own to earn his keep. Many nights he kept to his studies and stayed out of trouble. Some would say he was stuck up, I simply say dedicated." Drake, at this point, could barely hold in the embarassment of having his father and the Princess he adored chatting in such casual cadence. It was enough to make him cringe entirely, but Drake settled for a mildly anxious smile at his father. After a slow inhale, Gideon nodded and straightened his posture, giving a formal bow to Sadie. "It was so grand to meet you, Princess Camilia. I am afraid I have other matters to attend but I shall look forward to seeing you more often! Perhaps a family dinner by week's end? I think you would rather enjoy the Edwards Estate."

Drake stood up and gave his father a gentle, but firm, pat on his back with a slightly forced smile that curled into a more professional "smile". "And I agree that it was certainly lovely having you here, Father. Perhaps such plans can be discussed at a later time?" Drake leaned in for a slight whisper. "I think I can see Mother foaming at the mouth..." Gideon turned around and began to worry that if he did not intervene his wife may end up causing a scene. But his heart sank when he saw her conversing with the King himself. Lords have mercy on me... He finished his bow and looked to the both of them. "Farewell! May the day be blessed with good fortune." He gave a brief farewell before hustling off into the distance, stopping a waiter for Victoria's favorite tea and an extra pastry to help calm her nerves.

Drake let out a sigh and looked with an embarassed smirk towards the princess. ...Sorry he is a rather social creature. He had noticed a few nervous ticks coming from her, and although his father did not put out an overbearing presence, sometimes all it took as some fancy name to show up for any and all nerves to begin firing off left and right. He walked to Sadie's side of the table and held out a hand for her. "If it isn't too much trouble, perhaps we could get some...fresher air? A walk could do us both some good to remove ourselves from this increasingly stuffy event. But if you'd like to stay, I would not mind that either." He did not wish to coddle her all day but he would certainly milk the time he had with her. He felt that maybe getting her out of this party might help ease any anxiety she may be feeling. Drake could barely discern her actual inner thoughts, but he figured she would share anything if it became too much.

Fritz "Ryn" Hendrix
Time: Late Morning
Location: Royal Gardens

A vibrant spectrum of magic energies moved through the air, brushing against each other, and sometimes merging together to create something new, only to dissipate before anything could manifest. The dance of auras emanating from each attendee mesmerized Ryn, but his fascination did not stop there. He also noticed the traces of magical imprints left behind on some surfaces and, in fewer cases, people. Though he knew not what that indicated exactly. Wayra once explained to him that magicae were like magical signatures, unique to each individual and ever-changing. While two people may possess the same color of magical energy, how the aura presented themselves differed from each other. Magicae told tales of their bearersā€™ innermost qualitiesā€”a blend of their experiences, emotions, and aspirations. Although he had the knowledge, Ryn did not quite fully grasp what Wayra meant until he actually saw it through the lens that was crafted using the knowledge gained from examining a magical spyglass.

The magicae surrounding the attendees flickered and guttered like a dying candle before vanishing entirely from view as the enchantment of the lenses wore off. Ryn lifted the spectacles from his face then lowered it into his handkerchief. With a subtle sleight of hand, he replaced the ruined lens for a new one, the motion hidden behind the pretense of polishing.

The spectacles were ordinary in appearanceā€”simple wire-rimmed glasses with circular lenses. However, there was more to them than met the eye. An extra slot on each side of the frames allowed for a secondary, bespelled lens to be swapped in and out. It was these additional lenses that gave Ryn the ability to see what normally went unseen. The two-lensed spectacles were crafted by studying the spyglass they discreetly borrowed from the hidden room tucked away in the castle library.

Ryn and Wayra spent hours analyzing the spyglassā€™s magical components before attempting to recreate the effect in a wearable form. Their efforts proved successful, if imperfect: the spell burnt out quickly, especially when exposed to strong magicae.

Still, the glimpses were worth it. Once the newest lens settled into place, the garden erupted into kaleidoscopic brilliance once more. Ryn spared a glance at the case that held the remaining lenses, mentally tallying the few left. He would have to use them sparingly if he wanted to keep observing the hidden energies that moved through this place. Until Wayra made more, that is. For now, he drank in the temporary sight. Soon this lens, too, would fade.

Ryn lifted the porcelain teacup to his lips, the surface smooth and cool against his fingers. Steam wisped up to curl around his cheek as he surveyed the auras of the Danrose members from over the rim, reading their magicae. He noted the variations in the auras of the Danroses present. Each colorā€”blue, green, red, and orangeā€”and the intensity in which each glowed, spoke volumes about the nature of each Danrose, betraying truths its owner never intended to reveal to others and perhaps even to themself.

When he saw King Edinā€™s magicae, Ryn hid his surprise behind another sip of tea. He had his suspicions, but he was still unprepared for the confirmation. Though it did not absolve King Edin of the atrocities committed against Rynā€™s family or Caesoniaā€™s people, Ryn pitied him. He wondered when the kingā€™s magicae had first begun to take on such a coloration. Then another, arguably more ludicrous, idea surfaced: If Ryn uncoveredā€”possibly even remedyā€”the cause, was there hope for a peaceful resolution? Could they all find salvation?

Ryn took another long sip of tea, turning away from the king. Across the garden, Lord Smithwood stood off to the side, not mingling with the guests as much as Ryn expected him to. The aura around the lord was predominantly white with a yellowish tinge. It pulsed slowly, rhythmically, reminding Ryn of the steady beat of a heart. The tempo was disrupted only when someone tried to converse with him. At which point, the pulse spiked and fluttered like a flock of sparrows startled into flight.

That was not, however, what disturbed Ryn.

At the fringes of Lord Smithwoodā€™s magicae clung the faint imprints of someone elseā€™s magical energy. The shadow writhed and twisted, shifting into anguished visages that opened their mouths in silent screams, eyes hollow. Even from a distance, their torment was evident.

Feeling his gaze, Ryn felt an odd sensation of the faces shifting their attention onto him. One after another they sharpened their focus untilā€”

Nothing. The colors. The faces. All gone. The enchanted lens rendered into mere glass.

Ryn removed his spectacles from the bridge of his nose and placed them into their velvet-lined case with care. He should keep a close eye on Lord Smithwood.

Farim

Location: Sorian Beach
Time: Late Morning
Mentions: Layla @Potter, Roman @ReusableSword, Dr. John @Conscripts

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Farim took after his cousin as she stormed off the scene, her words likely still recoiling in the minds of his newly made friends. But the thing about these people is they would not simply lay down and take such tongue-lashings and forget about it the following day. There were reputations to be made, relationships to be built, and people to meet. His dear cousin was throwing every chance of any meaningful interaction away and for what? Pride? Social standing? Principle? He had to get to her and try to see if he could steer the more radical ones of his family to a more diplomatic approach. If he couldn't change their hearts, what hope would he have to change the hearts of his people, should he very well become Sultan or perhaps even the Grand Vizier?

Before he could go off on another internal tangent about his future he came face to face with Layla. She wore an expression that let him know she was sharing similar thoughts about the arrival of this Calbert Damien. "The man is peculiar and has a bit of a.....reminder of home to him." He chived to her. He paused for a moment, then let out a sigh as he looked at her with a drooped posture. "I think it is high time we talked about our situation here. We already had 2 of your siblings have to go back home, I do not wish to see you share the same fate. Think about why it is you are here, and what it is you really want. Tonight we shall speak, if only briefly, so we can both figure out if I am to help you or leave you to your chaotic and spicy endeavors.ā€ He gave a nod, and with a rare melancholy look, turned and left her to think on his words.

He spoke to her not out of anger or frustration. If anything it was in confusion and desperation, it felt like all his life his family had drifted slowly away from him, and with this new plan to come and see each other and find new beginnings in Caessonia, he felt it would be a new beginning for all of them. Yet, as the days pushed on, it only seemed to widen the gap between one another. Would he need to bridge the gap between them or would this just be another reason that he would need to keep his distance? It all began to be too much for him, but he kept his composure all the same while seeing just what his cousin really wanted.

With that, Farim left to reflect and think on just what their conversation meant. It was tough, having his family act in such ways. He knew they all had pride and egos, much like he did, but it was a spectacle to see them act out in such ways even when the sake of their people and country could very well be affected. His feet dragged slightly in the sand, his gaze lowering as he lost himself in his inner thoughts. But as he re-approached the scattered individuals at their previous spot, he could not help but overhear something that caught his attention. A price hike? Over a social dispute? It took everything in him to not sigh at the thought, but Roman raised a good point. The rabble had to be quelled somehow.

He sauntered over to the small group and made himself apparent, straightening his posture and resuming his more carefree and personable smile. ā€My friend, I do not find such measures necessary, or effective if I may give my input.ā€ He pivoted on his foot and stood to Romanā€™s side, the difference between their sizes catching him for just a moment before continuing. ā€You see, Layla operates a little outside the public eye. Your ā€˜taxā€™ as we may call it, will only harbor ill-will with many who are innocent to the events that transpired. A rise in cost, means less projects procured overall, meaning you earn less profits, and we come out short on supplies and well-worked items. Less supplies means caravans arenā€™t as well guarded from thieves and crooks who like to steal all our hard work. Overall, this is what we call in the business, a net negative. No one wins. Except the robbers I guess.ā€ He took a pause, letting the information sink in for a moment and casting a curious look to see who may be watching.

ā€If I may offer an alternative, trust in me to...resolve things and temper the tide of my family and I shall make sure you get a favorable cut of the mining shipment that goes out next season. If anything, consider it an apology on my end for how things have become lately. I do not choose your business policies but, I can assure you any tax you levy will either be sorely ignored or cause a cut in trade that neither of us would like to see. I shall handle the spicy Shehzadi, dear noble blacksmith. I promise.ā€ He stuck his hand out, giving Roman ample time to decide to shake and respond to what Farim proposed as well as allow anyone else to give their thoughts.

Once their exchange finished, he would then give a slight bow to them. ā€I would like to continue to mingle but the appearance of that Dr. John individual has my interest piqued. I believe I was looking to share a word with him during my time here in Caessonia so I shall seize the opportunity. But Roman!ā€ He paused and put a hand on the manā€™s shoulder as he began to walk past. ā€I heard there is a festival you are holding tonight, I would be much interested if I am still invited. I hope I did not offend with my proposition.ā€ With that he walked from the group and approached the good doctor.

ā€Dr. John was it? My name is Farim. It is a pleasure to meet you. This may be our first meeting but I have happened to hear a few words about you and your practice. It is an interesting one, and I was looking to potentially pick your brain as they say. Mainly for a bit of knowledge in the medical field which I am sorely lacking, and maybe even for a potential business opportunity? I rarely get a chance to meet someone from the Far North, and I like to make friends there when I can.ā€ His approach was direct, friendly, and he did his best to make a great first impression for Dr. John.

"Oh, but please, some patients are always haughty about knowing better than the ones who know best. I implore you to look past your ego and listen." John knew that the Alidasht princess would simply shrug and look down upon commoners like him, and pretended to be cool by ignoring, but one last warning wouldn't hurt. After all, there was no way she could actually hurt him really. Nor does Lorenzo, who was perpetually confused at who the real enemy was. This time, it was so funny he would simply just watch beneath the sunglasses. Nor does Count Calbert, who came all the way down here for an invitation to his whatever masquerade he was hosting tonight.

"Because all those patients..." The doctor took off his sunglasses, looking at Layla as she strode off with a half-smile concealing a sense of pity. "...have all died."

Now for Calbert. This masquerade was actually something he could consider going. Not because he wanted to go to this nobleman's pretentious gathering and meet all their pretentious guests, but it could be a good time to learn more about Calbert himself personally. After all, he could be wanting John dead after what happened the other day.

"That would be lovely, Count Damien, though I am preoccupied with a work meeting at the given time, but I might be able to catch the later part of the masquerade. I hope that would not be a big issue for you."

John returned a rather non-committal but reasonable response. He knew it would potentially be walking into a lion's den if he just accepted. He needed more thorough diagnosis before he could commit. But all on the outside, he maintained his smile and politeness. Roman had flat out rejected the proposal, so now he could see how Calbert would respond in both rejection and uncertainty.

Once he left, John lingered around and enjoyed his smoothie in serenity until someone disturbed him again. But oh well, it is Farim. He was friendly thus far, and he seemed interested in his work, which was a rarity. Granted it might still be for business, but at least it was for a cause rather than to look nice and earn approvals.

"Oh for sure, pick away!" John tapped his head several times with a laugh. Whatever stiffness he might have had before with the group or with Layla dissipated. "I only heard your name through like official papers or letters, and it's mostly to do with your trading company, so it's finally good time to put a face to...a legend, you know."

The investigation into the assassination was crowded. It was a fairly high-profile occurrence and, admittedly, her efforts were best spent elsewhere. The assassination reeked of magic, which made things interesting. Rather than make a big huff by taking the reins of the investigation herself, and giving away her involvement, she would poke around quietly in parallel to the full investigation force. That an assassination on an important target was attempted told her that another high profile party was involved. Alternatively, someone from the common folk with a grudge or an agenda got their hands on some magic tricksā€¦ but that didn't seem likely.

One thing was clear, and that was magic in the capital. Somewhere high in the capital. And that meant mingling. Aah, she was hoping to avoid this. Her, socializing with nobles? And maybe even the royal family? Little ol' her from some village scarcely on the map? Ooh, waily, waily. She got a squire to help her with a bit of plate before she'd go to begin probing the nobles. A little bit of parade plate helped liven up her appearance without being overbearing. A quick look in a mirror and she'd say she looked pretty good.

Her preparations done, she had no excuse to continue loitering around in the barracks. Her feet brought her out into the sun, which was rather high in the sky already. She'd spent a bit of time fussing over her appearance, which was something she hadn't really done before. It was refreshing, and a bit of fun. Reminded her a bit of when they'd have a formal event for the guards and she'd have to get dressed up, only this was much more enjoyable.

At any rate, she found her feet carrying her toward the beach. Not the first place she might have gone, but not a bad idea, either. It was a nice day, and much of the city, including noble estates and taverns, were right on the beachfront. She still wondered how she was going to- oh? It seemed there had been a disturbance. The Duke Vikena was here, and looked like he was about to depart, likely back to his estate. She would ask him as he passed.

Count Landon Monet, Duchess Antoinette Petit, Countess Melanie & Countess Liliane

Interactions: @Helo Callum

"I'm alright, dear. So nice to see you Prince Callum."

She smiled and sat down to tea as Callum had. Then, the group had listened as he spoke.

"Aw. I see no harm in a little walk through the woods. What a lovely way to spend time together." Duchess Antoinette had commented.

Count Landon Monet was staring at him with a disgruntled look on his face while Melanie simply appeared concerned, her attention latched onto the back of Duchess Victoria as she spoke to King Edin. However, her attention returned as he spoke of the charity event.

"We'd... love to attend." Countess Melanie smiled at him.

"Oh yes, it's such a creative idea during the courting season. I am going to simply tell everyone about it, Prince Callum! You won't have an empty seat at this auction. Trust me!"

"... I will let my daughters know. I am sure they will be interested in attending." Countess Liliane's addition was softer than the others.

Though initially reluctant, Count Landon did seem swayed after some thought. "Hmm... Perhaps I will assist in sponsoring this event, Prince Callum. My name will help give it some extra interest. I shall spread the word as well."

King Edin & Duchess Victoria

Interactions: @Helo Callum

Victoria was seething with anger as she made her way towards King Edin. She had no intention of holding back. When she finally reached the king, she wasted no time in expressing her grievances as he looked down at her with wide eyes.

"Your Majesty," she began, "I must bring to your attention the disgraceful behavior of your son, Prince Callum. It is a matter of great concern and shame."

With a dramatic pause for effect, she continued, " Prince Callum had the audacity to approach our table with a fake smile and false pleasantries. But his true intentions were anything but noble."

"He proceeded to insult us, insinuating that we are not generous, and then, Your Majesty, he deliberately untied his shoes and removed his socks, right in the presence of ladies and gentlemen! He left his shoes and socks near me as if he were at some uncivilized gathering of homeless people. He is using this behavior to taunt me with the rumors that your son takes my daughter into the forest at night."

Victoria's voice grew sharper, her anger evident in her every word, "His behavior was nothing short of scandalous and this was all performed amongst many of our elite.
