Arlen had spent a good chunk of their time down with Ismael at Port Vanarosa. They had lunch, chatting about their misadventures thus far, with Arlen asking about how it’d compared to the things the human had done back on earth. The elf had then shown him some fun places. After enjoying themselves for a bit, they had gone back to the ship. And what a surprise had met them there; an entirely new crew member. Amisra introduced Sirena, the dark fairy, and told them a false story of how she’d been found when the princess had left their ship. Arlen had covered for her, and got the truth from Amisra later.

Now, he didn’t entirely mistrust the dark fairy, since she had helped patch up his friend. However, he had heard many ill tidings of her kin, and from his observations, she did appear unstable at times. So, he was wary of her, and kept watch on her throughout their travels. Granted, their new passenger was a far lesser presence in his mind compared to the potentials of treasure. The captain had found a map he judged was genuine, so the chance of them actually getting something was decent. The promise of loot, action, and a fresh adventure energized the elf.

Their sailing had gone well enough so far, with Tanithil settling in as their newly minted, officially appointed first mate. “Ha! Now, don’t go getting’ too big-headed there, Tani,” Arlen playfully flipped him off. Still, he went about his task, though not before some passing words to his other companions. Most notably, Amisra had that stubborn look about her, the kind that let him know she’d be ignoring her injuries. “I don’t like sayin’ this, but you should listen to Tani, he’s got the right of it this time. If you're bored, just stick to that one,” he nodded at the dark fairy. He wrapped an arm around Amisra’s shoulders in a brief hug.

When he caught sight of Sirena, he simply gave her a nod. “Best not fly around too much,” he suggested. “A bad stray wind catches you, you’ll be like those,” he pointed at the billowing sails, “except not tied down.” To Ismael, he offered a bolstering pat on the back, and a, “Happy learnin’.” Then, he did do as Tanithil ordered, and took care of the sails. He couldn’t help but wonder what exactly it was that their actual captain was doing, however. Strategizing, maybe? Well, whatever, it wasn’t really any of his business as long as they kept afloat, and their human was safe and sound.

☽Location☾ The Salt Runner
☽Time☾ Morning
☽Mentions☾ Arlen @Silverpaw

Sea life had not favored Sirena. It had taken some time for her stomach to get used to the crashing waves but once it didn’t she started to feel a bit more comfortable… with the ship that is.

The other crew mates of the Salt Runner certainly were kinder than most she would meet however she felt their eyes on her. Constantly watching, trying to see what it was she would do. At least they weren’t whispering about how disgusted they were, at least not close enough that she could hear.

She sat amongst some cargo, finding a box that she rather favored as it allowed her to see the beauty of the sea. It created a natural chair with the way they were stacked and kept her relatively sheltered and away from the main crew as they went along their days.

Though the one they called Arlen would constantly be keeping his eye on her. She could feel his glance as she tried to ignore them but they would not. “ Hear him…see him…sense him.” “ He is watching “ “ Always watching “ “ Can you blame him... Disgusting fairy” Shutting her eyes she tried to drown the voices with the sounds of the waves crashing against the ship but the voices continued to get louder. She watched as the man nodded towards her as he spoke to the women she had helped earlier. She watched as a woman followed Arlen around, constantly watching over him…protecting him. A mother? A sibling? Why did it matter, they were always so quick to judge when Sirena could see their history haunting them without them even knowing.

Everyone had a story. Including her…

Her attention fell back on the ocean as a voice pulled her from her meditation. “Best not fly around too much. A bad stray wind catches you, you’ll be like those,” Her eyes moved to bellowing sails as he walked over to attend them. She pulled her cape over her shoulders tighter as she crossed her arms. “ I d-Dont…” She took a deep breath mustering the courage to talk “ I don’t use them.” She replied before looking back out towards the ocean. Her eyes fell onto the water “ I won't use them..” she whispered to herself. “A fae with no wings..” the voices mocked as they broke out into laughter.

Sirena's legs were tucked tightly into her chest as the water continued to mock her. Reminding her of being trapped on the ship with the crashing sounds as it smashed against it. As long as she stayed away from it, it could not hurt her. As the water crashed again, standing a splash towards her Sirena nearly fell off the crate as her body sprang back to avoid its touch. Sirena fell off the crate she sat picking herself quickly off the deck before climbing back onto the seat reluctantly. "I can't hurt me..." she whispered. “They will drown you” "They won't trust you" " Toss her overboard!"

As Cyrus spoke about how much he was sorry for not having rescued her, Viola simply heard in silence. Nothing Cyrus had said was a lie... While Viola had indeed suffered a great deal, with her hopes of being rescued, of someone caring about her being slowly crushed, in the end, they both have suffered. Both her brother Cypress and Viola herself.

"We both suffered, but in the end, you came for me. Even if it was too late." Viola said, looking to Cyrus with a brief smile.

While Viola knew that her meeting with her brother was completely by chance, the fact that her brother hadn't forgotten about her, how he kept thinking of her despite the things that he faced were enough for her to believe he did not forget about her.

So far, everything Cyrus had said to her was of great help to calm down her mind, but his suggestion afterwards, when he told Viola to 'explore' her thoughts made Viola hesitant. The time she spent in Daka Island had changed her and after that, she felt some of her thoughts would be better left buried, sealed and undisturbed. Giving them attention and 'exploring' them could make the seeds that were planted in Viola's mind take further root and turn her into something much more cruel and dark than she already was... Even to those close to her.

Unlike Viola, Cyrus did seem to not think that bad of the constant vigilance they were being subjected to and to the wolf's intrusion into their personal matters. Menzai's words, despite everything that happened were still rather soft. He apologized for the harsh treatment Viola and her brother were put through by the other wolves and reassuring them that what he heard from them wouldn't be shared with anyone. His reply to Cyrus's question about revealing Phia's past or not, was predictable. To keep the truth hidden, to keep Phia's past a mystery was definitely in Menzai and the village's interest. While it was true that they might want to prevent Phia from suffering, couldn't that also be seen as an attempt to prevent Phia to reunite herself with her family?

Despite her silence, Viola's sharp, cold stare was enough to tell both Cyrus and Menzai himself how she felt about his 'request'.

Regardless of the animosity Viola felt towards Menzai, his offer to answer two of their questions was an interesting one. After thinking a little bit, Viola looked to Menzai, with a sharp, cold stare that seemed to pierce straight through him, almost as if she was trying to read his very soul.

"For how long do you intend to keep Phia away from her real family?" Viola asked with an icy, sharp tone as she watched Menzai's reaction and waited for his reply.

Song: Nothing You Can Take From Me

Kenia lingered in the sterile white hallway outside the medical center, her gaze fixed on the closed door behind which Zion's fate hung in the balance. The medical personnel had ushered her out briefly, citing the need for privacy during the procedure to remove the poisoned arm. Reluctantly, she had acquiesced, though every fiber of her being urged her to stay by Zion's side.

Restless, she decided to make use of the time. The image of Zion's pained roars still echoed in her mind, and the urgency to ensure his comfort clawed at her. With a determined stride, she ventured into the heart of River Port, heading straight to Seafood Sensations. The door's chime announced her entrance as she stepped into the warmly lit eatery, inhaling the comforting aroma of grilled fish.

A quick exchange with the chef, and she left with a carefully wrapped cheesy tuna sandwich. A small offering, but one she hoped would provide even a modicum of solace for the mighty lion in his time of recovery.

Returning to the medical center, Kenia found herself once more outside Zion's door. She eased it open, and her eyes met the sight of him lying still on the bed, his once-majestic form now marred by the absence of an entire limb. A pang of sympathy and sorrow washed over her. She approached quietly, settling into a chair beside the bed, the wrapped sandwich cradled in her hands.

The quiet hum of medical equipment formed a somber backdrop as she waited. Her fingers began to tap a small beat on the chair, then came the humming, and before long she was softly singing as she leaned her head back and closed her eyes waiting.

“You can't take my past
You can't take my history
You could take my pa but his name's a mystery
Nothing you can take from me – was ever worth keepin'...”

The Great Sea

Rue glanced over her shoulder and a soft smile graced her lips. To see Starfire enjoying Bowyn’s company, and to give him the taste of the sky meant more to Rue than anything. Her pegasus had been happy to oblige and stretch her wings. Though Starfire had not complained about the ship verbally, she had stomped her feet and huffed. The last time the poor thing had been on a ship was on her way to Daka Island. Thus, to help all of them escape, Rue had come up with the idea of flying over the ship which had eased all of their worries for the moment. Starfire didn’t often talk about her past, but Rue knew from the scars and attitude that this was not an easy journey for her either.

While it was not the same as her flying, it was still a relief. It was as much freedom and privacy as they could afford right now. Trying to speak with Bowyn amongst the others had been challenging and Rue had been quieter as a result. Rue flew gracefully in front of them and watched the sea. It was enjoyable to fly over the ocean although she missed her snowy forests at home.

As Bowyn spoke, Rue slowed down but continued flying so Star could continue to follow her. ”Yuu are most welcome! We are both happy to escape. Trust me, Star is not fond of ships either.” She replied sweetly. Then, she fell silent and considered his words. ”He did well; although he seemed shaken by it. Due to his outburst I am thinking he was traumatized by bears in his human world. I hope next time we face a creature he doesn’t melt down and expose his power. We are lucky so far that it was not a dark elf who saw him.” She briefly closed her eyes and enjoyed the breeze and salty air on her face.

Then, she reopened them and added, ”We’re a band of misfits but I hope we can learn to trust each other. I do not know how I feel about the elves yet.” She then turned to smile over her shoulder at them both, enjoying the view of both her loved ones and turned back to face forward.

He had officially joined this so-called rebellion, but things hadn't picked up much. A lot of this happened to just be camping, surviving in the wilderness and getting to know each other. Only one of it he considered to be part of what a rebellion should be. The rest felt rather weird, considering there was no shortage of supplies or amenities if they just headed back into Riverbloom. They said they were up to some sort of training, but he hadn't seen it yet.

"Hmm." His breathing festered into a long hum, as he slowly gaze over the two elves and this strange lady. "You said you are a traveler from a distant land." He directed his first question towards Zora. "Who are you exactly? You have no features of the creatures of this land."

They said they were tasked of training this lady. For what exactly though? To become a leader? A fighter? For someone who didn't look like they come from this land, why were they in this rebellion in the first place.

"As for this rebel group of ours." Now he eyed over Rowan, with an occasional glance to Aurora, both of them seemed like they held a position of power to some degree. "What leads you to join this little rebellion? Who is in command of this whole movement?"

If he was to shed blood for these fellows, it might be worth hearing more.

The afternoon had taken a tremendously long time to ride itself into the sunset. At least, for Aurora, even if not much had occurred.

She was sitting by the campsite, staring blindly into the simply lit fire. She could make out the energy eating away at the wood, but everything else was rendered dark aside from the souls of her companions.

Perhaps, it was the worry that was burdening her. There were several needless thoughts or worries that immediately transgressed her mind. Whatever they were, a good night’s contemplation and rest would surely ease her discomfort.

As she listened to Barrock, she felt a gentle need to answer for Zoe’s, but she stopped herself. Had she become too protective over the human?

Her milk eyes looked downcast from the fire and met the blank canvas of where her palms should be resting, peacefully in her lap. Other than Barrock, the surroundings were quiet and tranquil for a nighttime forest. The wind was could not have been any less disturbing.

Perhaps, it was a good thing she had agreed to intercede for Zora’s wishes to her dear brother. And they even had a new recruit, so it seemed.

Everything was going smoothly…

…Why the worry?

“The Light Elves,” Rowan answered concisely. His swift eyes jetted from the fire to Barrock. “Or rather, The New Dawn, as we formally call ourselves. The Dark Elves have been destroying with their tyranny…” He looked back at the fire and a serious breath puffed through the elf’s chest. “As I am sure you are already aware?” His eyes were suddenly back on Barrock.

A smile broke on his face, “Tell me, my friend, what brings you, an Orc to Riverbloom?”

Rowan was more than eager to steer the conversation away from Zara’s grasp for the time being. He already felt she was in debt for the lack of training they practiced today.

He believed if he gave her any more leeway, she might as well be given the title Leader, and he could not even gather enough healthy humor to laugh silently about such a thing.

It did not matter what his beloved sister believed. Today’s happenings would not become a regular occurrence. He had been made the leader of this group for a reason, and while he truly appreciated and cherished his sister’s input and in no way wanted to disrespect her insight, today would simply be scheduled as a special occasion.

“And, cheers to you, my friend, for our happenchance meeting to bring us all together. May this be a a good and bright sign for The New Dawn.” He raised his drinking canister in the air briefly and noted the other three before taking a swift sip of the cool water.

Time: One week after Zora arrived into Avalia.
Location: Riverbloom, The River
Interactions: Aurora @mole, Barrock @Conscripts, Rowan
Mentions:

The new addition to their group, was a curious one indeed. Despite their promises, Zora was well aware that they hadn't much to show... apart from promises that might as well be empty ones. So, the reason for him joining them was still something that greatly intrigued her. Regardless, it was still true that the path they had in front of them was a long and arduous one. Both for Zora herself and their 'rebel group'...

"A very, very distant land indeed." Zora said, with a mischievous smirk as she listened to Barrock's questions.

"Ain't it a nostalgic question!" Zora said, after Barrock asked her who exactly she was. Those words... Those exact words were ones she had already heard many times back in her world... And the answers she gave were always as varied and enigmatic as the interpretations people gave to them.

"One who was asked me even back in my world... Back then, I was called many, many things... Witch, soothsayer, mystic... Some called me a demon, while others, a goddess... It was always so amusing to hear the names, titles and stories the people used to give me..." Zora said, laughing, almost as if she was fondly reminiscing her past.

"But that was in the past... Those names and titles died together with the woman I once was and the power I once held... Here in Avalia, I am just Zora Sene, a mere human... At least for now." she said waving her hand as she dismissed that past as 'unimportant', finishing with an enigmatic smirk as she said the last phrase.

Even though she lost the power and influence she once held... The spirits often opened new doors when old ones were closed and here in Avalia, it was no different. She might have lost the power and influence she once held... but those were never truly hers... They were merely borrowed. What she had gained here in Avalia, was the opportunity of having a power that wasn't borrowed... A power that was truly hers.

While Zora did notice how Rowan seemed to want to steer the conversation away from her, she didn't interrupt him and instead let him do as he pleased. Unlike Aurora, it was very hard to believe he had done so in order to protect any of the secrets she might have. Instead, it was much more likely he had done so out of jealousy. After all, it probably was hard for him, who believed to be the 'leader' to have Zora so blatantly said she would obey no one and even have her being the subject of the current conversation. Such hypothesis made Zora quite amused, as she glanced towards Rowan, with a teasing grin.

With Rowan having taken charge of the conversation, Zora turned her attention to Aurora, who seemed to be more quiet than usual. Sitting besides her, Zora gently took Aurora's hand, letting a warm smile as she looked at her.

"Why the worried expression, sister? At least for now, everything is going as planned, is it not?" she said with a chuckle. By now, Aurora would already have gotten used to the affectionate way Zora seemed to call her 'sister', despite them not having any blood relation.

"And even if something happens, we need just to adapt ourselves and adjust our plans." she said, with a smile.

Time: Night
Location: Peninsula North of Roshmi
Interaction: Cyrene @Tpartywithzombi
Mention:
Equipment: Backpack, fishing net, fishing pole, 3 medium red potions, 3 small blue potions, 1 green potion, fire starting kit, poncho, rope, frogfly named “Beebee,” cooking pot, hygiene pouch, water purifier, wooden spear, handcrafted bow and arrows, knife, wool blanket, big fish

When the tables turned on the monkey man due to Cyrene’s craftiness, he did what he did best. Eros had a knack for being crafty himself. With bristled hairs, Eros rolled his body in one direction, freeing his torso before just as rapidly rolling his body in the opposite direction to free his feet.

With a grunt and a red glow to his irises, he hopped to his feet, glaring into Cyrene's eyes filled with desperation.

“Don’t. You. Dare!” Eros growled as the rope was being torn.

Cyrene looked up at Eros with the last strands of fibers in her mouth. Pausing as she thought about it, she ripped her head back with a jerk snapping the last of the fibers. Finally, she managed to free her hands as her wrists held the last bit of the rope around them. Standing to her feet she looked at the searing-eyed Eros “I will honor my agreement but I will NOT be held in chains.” Her eyes narrowed on the man as she attempted to size him up. “You help me. I help you. With mutual respect given. I will not be your captor or anyone else’s.” Her tone was firm as each word was enunciated slowly and fully to ensure he understood her words.

A snarl was escaping through Eros’ gritted teeth as his eyes illuminated in the darkness of night. The desire to beat Cyrene until she could hardly move crossed his mind. All it would take was a sudden pounce and a well-placed strike. As prepared as he was to do just that, a chirp from Beebee caused him to narrow his eyes. Another chirp filled the air, causing Eros to let out a low grunt as he straightened his posture.

Cyrenes eyes flicked between the small creature and Eros noticing his change of tune as the creature appeared to communicate with him.

“Fine! I’ll only tie you up when I need rest. But I am not helping you. I am helping myself get enough amas to… To feel like I’m free, I guess.” Cyrene’s brow raised slightly at his comment as he let out a second grunt. “You can walk ahead while I gather my rope… A rope that you ruined,” He grumbled as he gathered it up. She’ll pay for that. I don’t care what Beebee thinks.

Taking a few reluctant steps, she looked at him as he grathered the rope continuing to grumble to himself. Rubbing her wrists as she turned back around she followed his instructions and continued to walk the path that appeared to have been traveled a time or two. I could run.. Cyrene thought for a moment as her eyes darted around the foliage that engulfed them. However, Elrand snuck into her mind once more. His toothy grin and deep chuckle echoed as the hairs on her arms raised. She wrapped her arms around herself tightly as if a protective instinct took over her.

A friendly chirp came from Beebee as he hovered over her right shoulder. Cyrenes eyes met the small creature as she offered it a smile as his large black eyes peered upon her curiously. He chirped once more as he rotated his body to face behind her, almost as if to draw her attention to the fact that Eros was absent.

Seeing the small creature's reaction she stopped to look behind her, scanning for Eros as she realized that he hadn’t been following her. “Where’d he go?” she asked the tiny creature. Unfortunately, all he did was chirp again. Beebee was far below having the intuition and communication skills of other animals but for some odd reason, Eros didn't make it seem this way. Loneliness was a hell of a thing…

“Ha!” Eros’ voice boomed as he ran from his tent, causing Cyrene to jump slightly at the outburst. Now equipped with a few extra items. He was wearing a backpack, had a bow with a quiver of iron-tipped arrows, and a wooden spear in hand. Cyrene watched Eros jog towards her and yet again, Beebee chirped. Looking over at Beebee she smiled softly before it fell as Eros re-approched.

“That seems a bit excessive”

“Excessive? Tch.” Cyrene's eyes scanned over all the items he carried with him. If he thought of using any of those things against Erland he would be quickly humbled. “Planning on hunting game with that?”

“Hmm.” He gave a guttural hum as he poked his index finger right between her shoulder blades, against her spine. “Walk forward Siren. My tools are none of your concern. Focus on which you’ve been poor at. Walk!” Eros demanded.

Letting out a heavy sigh match with an eye roll, Cyrene began to move one foot in front of the other once again. “You know… I could have just ran when you weren’t looking. But I didn’t… So maybe a little more respect would be nice.” she said between gritted teeth as her eyes stayed focused on the trail in front of them.

“Respect? Heh… Hehehahahaha! Respect?! For a Siren?! A flesh eater? A murderer? Beebee, do you hear this?” Eros was finally smiling again. Beebee let out a chirp as he found his place over Eros’ right shoulder. “Right. I shouldn't commend a Siren for being bad at being a deceitful wretch. If anything, I’m only grateful for having such an easy catch to sell. You walk. I talk. My amas will stack high as the nest of a falk. Heh. That's how things-”

THUMP Before Eros could finish his sentence Cyrene’s fist met his face with a strong force, enough to knock him slightly back as it planted against his cheek. Her brows were furrowed in anger and frustration as she stood in front of him. “Kiss my tail, you stupid monkey boy.” She knew he would retaliate but she promised herself she would never be silent any longer. “I hope you choke on those Amas. You don't know me.” She turned back around and began to march off in the same direction, this time with more aggressive steps as she growled under her breath. She continued marching even as Beebee chirped repetitively from where she had left Eros to taste her wrath.

Quick and deadly the wooden spear flew. Its blunt base crashed violently into the back of Cyrene's head. As it made contact with her, Cyrene stumbled over her feet before swiftly turning back with furrowed brows. Her hand reached for the back of her head as she grit her teeth. She had to stop every fiber in her being from tackling the monkey boy but it wouldn’t get her anywhere. Instead, she reached down and grabbed the spear from the ground, taking a moment to admire the craftsmanship on it, she tossed it down towards his feet. “You dropped this,” she said before turning back around and continuing to walk as she huffed under her breath.

“You just can't help but lie. I threw this-” Eros picked the weapon up from the ground. “-at your big thick head. Strike me again and I'll show you my true strength. Two orcs, remember that. Two!” Eros trailed behind her with his hair still slightly bristled. Cyrene was hard proof that acquiring wealth was never easy, no matter the method.

“Two small ones maybe….” She said in a snarky tone as she twirled her hand in the air with a flourish. She couldn’t help but hold back a grin as she could tell she was getting under Eros’s skin. They hadn’t even made it out of viewing distance of the shore yet and already she was testing him. This was going to be fun.

Equipment: A pack with some supplies, seeds (in his pockets), a small knife, a mask that hangs from his belt, a weapon with a shifting charm that is either a sickle or a glaive, and a shield/drum with an unbreakable charm.

“…One thing to understand about demi-wolves and us Gaurav, especially so is that we always approach things honestly."

Cyrus did not interrupt but a lone green eyebrow raised at the irony; to claim honesty while asking for the truth to be hidden.

One single question, one that may or may not be answered based on Menzai’s discretion. Hardly a sufficient trade for what Menzai asked in return. Omitting the truth felt no different from lying, and it was a big lie. One that if uncovered had the potential to drive Phia away from him, Viola, and Menzai alike.

Viola asked her question, its words all sharp edges meant to jab at Menzai. But it was honest. Without Ophelia’s memories, Phia would never know that she had parents who died protecting their children. Their other siblings, grandparents, cousins, all the family they had lost; lived on in memories kept hidden from Phia.

“This agreement ends if you try to prevent Phia from speaking with us. That will be her choice as well.” It was a detached statement, not a cold threat or firey warning, but a simple line. The family that was kept from Phia would not include Viola and him.

They would at least have Phia as a friend, the chance to know who she was now. It was a better place to be than wondering if she still lived. He had asked to find his siblings, and Avalia had provided him twofold.

Menzai offered no reason for his choice, but difficulty was present in his voice. It did not feel like a rash or selfish choice. He had to trust Menzai’s decision over his own disappointment. If this was best for Phia, he had to accept that, had to be grateful for what he had and not merely focused on what was lost.

“Should Phia’s memories begin to return on their own, would you interfere?”

The Saltrunner sets Sail!

With the crew settled in and the ship making way along the southern seas of Avalia, all seemed to be at a steady calm. The sails were manned, cargo was accounted for, and deckhands were given various tasks to busy themselves while supper was prepared. There was the usual mixture of thrill, curiosity, and caution that came with any trip on the open seas. Not to mention the crews intrigue that was pointed at their captain. What exactly was his game? What did he have planned for them all? Questions likely buzzed in each of their heads, but ultimately the sight of the water and the need for constant attention would drown out any errant thoughts for the time being. Such was the way of the seas, ever attention-seeking and just as dangerous as it was beautiful.

As Tanithil continued steering the ship, a slight unease began to creep along the back of his neck. Scanning the horizon he found not much in the immediate area, so he called for a report from the Crow's Nest above. A hasty look from the young light elf stationed up there and an immediate shouted report would reveal that there was another ship on the horizon-line heading straight for them. Upon closer inspection, the jolly roger showed two silver-hued eyes that almost seemed to stare back at the young man through his spyglass. With a slightly more timid voice he yelled down to the crew - "It's the Silver Eyes!".

The Silver Eyes, a rogue pirate crew that was known for stalking this tretch of water to plunder what it could from other crews. They hardly looked for their own treasure and simply scouted for those returning from a hunt of their own, which earned them the name Silver Eyes. It was almost as if they had a nose for treasure - and each fight they won bolstered their confidence to the point where they have lately begun starting fights with any and all who sail near them. With a stern grip, Tanithil held onto the steering column and looked to his compatriots.

"Well lads. Feel like stuntin' a treasure swiper today? Cus I ain't plannin' on runnin' back the way we came. No sir-ee! Lest you lot wanna take the easy way out and outmaneuver the muts. That sounds like fun too." The elf said with a chuckle.

For the longest time, for someone to keep their word, as Five understood it, was a promise that would never be broken, that whatever duty behind its establishment would be upheld regardless of temptation. When Five agreed to not try to kill Mari and Thraash anymore, it was more of an official statement regarding a newly forged contract made on the spot. The Warforged, however, being an individual incapable of lying and typically the truthful sort, was set on carrying out and accomplishing the deal he had made, an order he had both created and determined to follow.

And yet Five was already regretting calling off his hunt, and the urge to murder his former quarry boiled within him.

It wasn't long after the newly assembled group had departed The Nest, now in tatters; Five's mechanical body had become a sudden topic of concern. The problem in question was how his right arm had finally succumbed to the wear and tear of battle and the ongoing weeks without upkeep. As they strode away from Roshmi City, Five could only speculate that a gear or a piston, perhaps both, maybe even two or more, simply cracked and snapped. The occurrence resulted in a near-catastrophic breakdown of his limb, with the clockwork assembly within his armor shell seizing up and falling apart. Everyone around him heard the pops and pings and the troubling blackened steam coming out of him from all the grinding metal. Thraash has a good laugh of the scene where Five's arm finally came loose and landed into the earth with a thud. Five himself awkwardly stared at the disabled and literally disarmed limb for a solid minute before he realized the vocal concerns being presented to him.

Since then, Five had settled at the party's campsite and worked for the last several hours trying to repair his arm. Five, however, was confident there was no real way to fix the damaged internals, not with his repair kit anyway. A professional would've been needed to repair the individual components, if not replace them if the goal was to make his limb and its connection to his body 'like-new' again. Instead, he had to come up with a bypass of sorts - a very complicated and complex procedure of removing redundant or damaged assemblies and rigging the remaining components through a new reconfiguration framework. As tedious as it would be, Five could certainly pull it off himself, provided he could retain his composure while using only the other functioning hand, and a large one at that, to complete the task. Going about the process, however, for Five was like operating on a person with a wrench. His hand was too massive to access his construction, and even manipulating the smaller parts with the tips of his claws was a process of trial and error where said pieces slipped from his grasp despite his precise movements.

Killing Mari and Thraash and getting his money to pay for that long-awaited tune-up would have avoided this mess, and that compelling option to carry such a deed out was still there. But Five had already accepted the deal, and the misfortune was now upon him. All he had to do now was work through it the best he could.

<<DAMN,>> muttered Five as a bolt slipped through his claws.

Eventually, Mari stumbled into the campsite excitedly, “Guysss! Guess what! Totally caught word of someone who can help Five. Apparently their name is Scathael and they-”

Five's eyes shot towards Mari, interested in her explanation of how this, Scathael could render assistance. However, the Light Elf had apparently blanked a moment later, distracted by the stew Aerilyn had brewed. The Warforged patiently waited for Mari to return to the topic she presented, only to find her taking a spot at the camp and preparing to fill her belly. Crimson hues glowed from Five's armor while steam shot out from various vents. He didn't take kindly to being ignored, especially in such a dimwitted fashion. Setting his tools down, his left arm extended over to where Mari sat while his claws hovered over head. In a quick but delicate motion, his hand went down and plucked her off the ground by grasping the back of Mari's shirt using the rubber pads on his fingertips. The scene would have played similarly to how a cat owner would lift their pet to scold them. He pulled the light elf closer to his face in that same motion, where all three optics peered at her.

<<SCATHAEL. "THEY"? CONTINUE,>> ordered Five.

Cutting through the wordy descriptions, the one bit of information that triggered in him even more sense of curiosity: Humans. The Dugmaghords didn't have written records of much, and for as long as he lived there, there had been no contact with any human whatsoever, only the fact that if seen, they would be killed onsite. It was only through elven records that one way or another fell into his hands that he knew the existence of these...he would call walking magic tower. It's also no secret that the ones who wrote about these towers also despised them. And yet here is one, in the flesh, walking around, in this rebellion, bonding with the two elves. While he had little preconceived biases against them, the fact that this 'New Dawn' rebellion were using them says a lot about their power, which is not much at all.

Hearing what Rowan said about this group, he wasn't exactly surprised. He pretty much answered the question without revealing much details at all. Though it could simply be because of secrecy. A new guy wouldn't get the information that easily.

Word for a word, it was his time to answer the question.

"Work." He replied. "I go where the coins take me. The clan does not welcome me anymore, nor do I welcome them."

He took a sip of water in solidarity with Rowan too, before looking over to Zora.

"What is to happen anyway?" He said, having decided to ask straightforwardly. "Where are we going, now that I have joined the cause?"

Menzai Isanami

Gaurav

The chill air of the night had worsened; attempts to soothe the icy sister's thorny mood served only to further them instead.

For as Menzai stood there, a solitude and quiet figure with only the faint glow of deep-sea blue eyes with the dull fierceness of red specks illuminating his face beneath the moon's glow. Save for the gentle flapping of his armless sleeve, billowing in the breeze; drifting along a chilly breeze and unpleasant remarks from the fairy siblings.

The shadow loomed tall; soon sensing Viola's Harsh stare and instead of avoiding the cold gaze, Menzai returned with a strong gaze of his own.

*note this is Menzai’s mentalscape*

Viola would see nothing at first as the wolf gave nothing of himself away unless he deemed to. Then the red slivers seemed to twitch; almost appearing to burn like tiny embers only to immediately be followed by darkness. All around, Viola only saw the vast expanse of darkness.

The motion of ripples beneath her feet reveals the ground to be emptiness rippling like ink on a mirror-like surface. All the time, a low thrumming growling much like a warning growl could be heard like an unpleasant tickle against the back of her neck. It was almost as if a figure stood breathing right behind her, only to turn to find nothing.

A lone child-like giggle broke the unsettling sensation as a young Phia seemed to materialize from the inky sea. Following in her wake, the inky black expanse gave way to life. Flowers and plants of all assortments sprouted from the ground with butterflies and birds flying about.

Within seconds, the landscape had changed completely with the two moons glowing dazzlingly bright in place of the sun, more so than normal and seeming to be much closer. Upon feeling its rays, a familiar warmth that left Viola almost feeling as if being hugged by her sister. But, as expected any attempts to call out or get her attention failed. Not much longer, it would become apparent the child like Phia was running towards something...no, someone.

A delighted glee filled bit of laughter rang from Phia as she jumped onto what seemed like a huge ball of fur. A stir and a low growl of annoyance; slowly shifting from slumber, the once pile of fur rose until a feral wolf twice that of a direwolf sat, graceful in its form with black and white fur split directly in the middle in a vertical pattern. This left the wolf appearing as if a mass of shadows on its left and warm glow of light on its right.

Most striking were the eyes, but unlike Menzai were inverted as two pools of blood-red eyes glowed with subdued ferocity with a gentle twinkle from the slivers of rich deep blue glittering stars swimming in crimson.

The beast remained unmoving; fur shimmering like silk, his body resting comfortably around Phia in a protective manner, leaving the giddy child free to play.

For a brief time, all was well, until the wolf picked up the scent of blood coming from the unknown visitor. Then thorns would start forming and breaking through Viola's skin and from it the air would take on an almost reddish hue as if a bloody mist filter had encroached the feel.

All the pleasant sounds of nature and Phia's giggling faded. A harsh rush of wind pushed Viola leaving her disoriented momentarily, her vision returning shortly after only to see the wolf standing right before her staring down at her with cold bloody eyes seeming to darken and drip from the sockets as bloody thorns could be seen sprouting out from the ground beneath her feet.

The low, rumbling growling from before returned as the wolf rankled his maw revealing rows of pearly fangs that would suddenly snap open.

A loud, ear piercing shriek at loud, shattering volume. A horrifying shrill scream enveloped her; surrounded not by the horrors of a wolf howling, but of despair...of pain. It neither sounded like a beast or a male, but closer to that of a despairing woman.

All around this scream reverberated and rebounded to deafening volumes, going until the point she might feel as if her head would split, then just like that it was over.

An exchange that appeared to last ages, but only an instance passed. What was allowed was given and what to make of it would be left to her.

Menzai gave no indication the exchange had occurred at all as his eyes closed. Quietly, the wolf pondered to himself on how to proceed from here.

Having received their questions and listened to the comments shared as well, all made the situation clear. These two were focused on getting their family back together; so much so that in their haste they failed to see the unknown dangers likely seeking out members of their family as well. And to his dismay, misunderstandings have formed; if left alone then future conflict were sure to happen.

Viola in particular was an unknown issue. The woman's troubles clung to her much like the thorns adorning her body.

He understood why they were upset and worried; eager to have their sister back and he wanted nothing more than to make their reunion an happy occasion and instead he could only offer them disappointment.

Some of his own frustrations regarding Phia’s loss of memories tried to bubble forth, made worse by the estranged sister’s question or more specifically the cold manner she requested. This left him with much to say with choice words of his own, but doing so would only serve to worsen this already formed rift.

For both Phia’s and the group’s sake, he had to ensure these two joined them. And with a slow, reluctant exhale, followed by a gentle breeze, a comforting brush against skin.

Though, as the two would soon come to learn; Menzai while gentlemanly had a fierce bite just as much.

Stepping forward once more, closer within three steps from the siblings, ready to speak, his gaze shifting between the two briefly.” Very well then. As our guests have made things apparent and my attempts to spare the two of you disappointment after a difficult and tiring journey.” He spoke in the calm tone prior, a hint agitation.

But, unfortunately, I know no more than either of you when it comes to her memories or to be precise, the method in how she lost them which should explain my caution.” Pausing briefly to check their reactions.” Please, understand that your sister came to us with her memories already lost and only two were allowed to meet this..unknown envoy that brought her.” His voice took on a mixture of curiosity and frustration as he spoke of this part.” Any misunderstandings born of my status or position, allow me to clear up for I am no keeper of her memories nor her life.

Menzai then moved till he stood close to Viola, there he merely stood peering at the dark fairy. Silently studying the features of her face, taking note of the faint, but familiar traits, the unmistakable and undeniable proof that these two truly were her family. His usual stern expression softened as he delicately reached his right hand forward.

Leaning in close, his clawed fingers gently brushed along the thorns and vines in admiration.” Such breathtaking beauty. And a lovely plant specimen as well… sharing a love of plants.” An almost amused huff escaped him as he whispered his admiration, inspecting the blood seeped plant a moment longer, turning his attention back to Viola.” As for your request, Lady Viola, unfortunately it is not one I can satisfy for neither I nor any in this village aim to keep or hold her hostage as you have eloquently hinted. She is and has always been free to do as she wishes, while we endeavored to give her nothing but our kinship.” Speaking calmly yet again though only perceptible to Viola was a clear hint of coldness directed explicitly at her.” Something of which we would like to share with you as well, if possible.” Added the wolf, slightly frowning.

Leaning in closer, where as he did so, his hand gently gripped the vine, this time to whisper into her ear instead of himself.” Blood Ties or no, she is family. Whether you accept it or not matters not to me, but…dare to disregard my tribe's love for Phia around my mother…” Trailing off to let the silence linger, the grip of his hand gently squeezing all the while as his harsh, but controlled words brushed her pointed ear until thorns broke skin.

After a few seconds, his hand released revealing pinpricks of blood spilling down his palm.” Apologies for encroaching so closely. I hope this offering will satisfy any discomfort I may have caused.” Drawing his hand back; pausing to peer at his crimson stained palm and flex his fingers.” If not, then feel free to make a request at a future time, whenever convenient for you.

Finished with his brief personal exchange, his hand closed after a few more testing flexes. Whether this request was given genuinely or out of spite, this he would keep.

Pulling his face away from the fairy.” And to you, Sir Cyrus, no I would not interfere.” He kept his gaze with Viola as he answered the brother matter of factly.” On the condition there is no sign of danger or risk to her life, that is.” His head turned to Cyrus' direction while further explaining.” Nor do I have any desire to keep her from you, I desire the opposite, if my words had not already hinted so.” His usual calm response with a curt bite at the edge in regards to the brother’s comment towards their “deal”.

Turning to step away from Viola giving her space, talking as he went.” However, both of you have made accusations towards me and my tribe, intended or no, so let me be clear to ensure no further misunderstandings.

Stopping in place and turning his head to peer over his shoulder at the two.” I am merely a brother to Phia, and I, much like the entirety of my village, wants nothing but her happiness. With that said, my goal aligns with yours.” And in more ways than the siblings might expect.

Pausing here to take a moment to himself; turning his head away with his back to them.” To see her living blissfully, unaware. It both saddens and frustrates me to a maddening degree…” Whispering his own grievances with this whole situation.

Here he turned to face them once more.” But, while I lack the answers regarding her memories. I do, however, know the ones that do have answers. And I, now carrying the guardian title, affords me the capabilities to request what they know and I would have both of you with me.

This time, Menzai could not help but let out a small chuckle to himself.* The timing of their arrival…*Trailing off to peer up at the two moons shining brilliantly.* A most fortuitous blessing….* Thought the stoic wolf.

Before Zeva knew it, she was on a ship sailing north with the strangers she had met just the days before, gazing upon the calm seas from the perimeter of the vessel’s deck. The pink sunset hues washed the boat’s exterior with a tint as warm as the gentle breeze, carrying with it the smell of salt and algae from the sea. The heavens themselves painted a serenity across the skies that seemed to only emphasize the anxiety that Zeva was feeling within.

She leaned against the wooden rail, elbows perched upon its edge. A defeated sigh escaped her lips. As the ship rushed further into the vast seas, it was finally sinking in that Zeva had really left her life behind on somewhat of a whim. Her gaze lingered on the silhouette of Roshmi City, ever diminishing into the horizon. There was no turning back now. A blizzard of thoughts swarmed in her head – would her family be worried? Did it make sense to disappear from school and work? Surely her face would be plastered around town on missing person posters until they got word of her whereabouts.

There was a glimmer of excitement past the turmoil, however. Zeva contemplated how much stronger she could get on this journey, eager to fight dark elves and monsters alike. Her hands gravitated towards the new daggers holstered on her back. With a swift motion, she unsheathed one of the blades, admiring it before her. It was a custom-made demon core dagger, costing a sizable chunk of Zeva’s savings, but it was a huge upgrade from the orc steel from her parent’s collection that she had been using prior. They were on the longer side, enough to almost be classified as swords, as Zeva preferred. An intricate pattern was carved close to the hilt of the blade that resembled wings wrapping both the blade and handle. Black leather was tightly wound around the handle for grip, and a small decorative metal feather hung at the blunt end of the weapon.

Across the deck, Zeva caught a glimpse of Mister Luum admiring the sunset, just as she had been. She sheathed her weapon and walked towards him. Many of her questions had still been left unanswered, and she gambled on the chance that the peculiar elf may be more forthcoming now.

“You almost seem like quite the reliable guy when you’re quiet like this,” Zeva teased, chuckling slightly. She took a spot on the banister next to him, leaning her back against it. Her hands found a strand of hair to twiddle with. “Anyway, can you tell me more about all of this, now that I’m here? I’m all for rebelling against Malthemoor, but there’s not much I know about what all of you are doing. And Bardulf- what, is it exactly, did he do earlier? With all the lightning and everything…never seen anything like it.”

Rowan’s body tensed when Zora began speaking. He thought to interrupt her but decided against it. Aurora had been so adamant that he try to be more civil. How could he not listen to his dear sister? And her, the more the human began speaking, the more he cursed himself for taking his sister’s advise.

Barrock was someone they could trust. He was certain of it. However, the Light Elf wished that he had been the one to introduce Zora as a human. If there were any flaws in his strategy, Zora was certain to find them. It was irritating how unruly she could be.

Alas, he let out a deep breath. He would be minding the situation better from here on out. The biggest obstacle was not relenting his sister, which at many times was seemed more daunting than the task ahead of them.

“I can’t quite answer where we are headed at the moment, my friend.” Rowan glanced at Zora and Aurora. “For the time being, we are training Zora. Within her is the affinity of water magic. We must cultivate and train her powers.” Rowan sighed again. “It’s been quite the challenge… but in the mean time, we also need to introduce Avalia to her, let her get used to this land.” His left hand raised in the air, showing off the darkness around them.

His hand landed on his knee. “Your clan does not favor you? I can see you are not like most orcs, as we have already determined, my friend. Please, tell us, was there something that happened?”

As Rowan spoke, Aurora turned quietly towards Zora. Her milky eyes looked tired, as if having been looking at something despite their inability to see. “I feel I just have needed the break today, perhaps more than you did. Suddenly, I have sensed something coming… or perhaps…” she shook her head and turned her attention to Rowan. He was watching them now.

As Viola looked towards Menzai, waiting for her answer, she was satisfied to know Cyrus seemed to agree with her previous words. She had tolerated the wolves actions until now. Despite helping against the Roc, despite adopting a defensive posture all this time, they continued to toy with her goodwill and her patience. Cyrus would easily notice how dangerously on edge Viola was, especially when Menzai looked back at her.

With that said, it seemed Menzai wasn't just trying to aggravate Viola even further. As their eyes met, Viola began realizing her surroundings slowly changing. When she realized what was happening, what Menzai did with his stare, her annoyance began turning into anger and hatred, further fueled by the aftereffects of the time she spent in Daka Island.

Not only did Menzai and the other wolves proved consistently to be themselves obstacles for Viola's goals, but despite her tolerance, they continued to challenge, threaten and aggravate her. Even though Viola chose to tolerate their rudeness, in an act of respect both to her brother Cyrus and for Phia, they continued to try to threaten and subjugate her... To try and control her...

Even as Menzai's figure disappeared, her surroundings radically changing and the growls threatening her, Viola felt nothing but anger. To have been attacked like this despite showing tolerance and patience, for Viola, felt like being betrayed. If they believed her to be just a monster, shouldn't she just act like one? The Blood Rose's vines shifted and twisted, reacting to the adrenaline on her blood and her breathing. The anger she felt was more than enough to motivate them to move by themselves, digging into her skin and preparing to attack.

As the visions changed around her, despite her altered mental state, Viola still paid attention to what she was seeing. Phia and the wolf she imagined being Menzai. But the moment the images disappeared and rush of wind threatened to throw her to the ground, forcing the thorny vines to dig into the ground to support her, her patience finally ran out. The clear threats coming from Menzai after what was clearly a mental attack, going as far as to show her a giant maw closing around her and an almost deafening scream were too much for Viola to continue to tolerate in silence.

"ENOUGH!" Viola shouted as the thorny vines of the Blood Rose exploded outwards, bursting out from the ground it had dug into and the vines on Viola's body, covering her surroundings in sharp thorns and threatening to cruelly impale anyone who stood close to her or wasn't fast enough to jump away from the immediate area around her. Fortunately, almost as if knowing Cyrus wasn't a threat, they seemed to almost completely avoid him, making it so he wouldn't be wounded even if he didn't move at all.

It was only after Menzai fully disappeared that the thorny vines finally returned and the Blood Rose calmed down once again, with the vines retracting their thorns from Viola's skin and gently pressing the wound in order to staunch the bleeding.

After a few seconds of heavy silence, Viola's posture seemed to visibly relax and calm down, her expression, despite being as monotonous and empty as always, showing a hint of the mental exhaustion that entire situation had caused her.

"I am sorry brother Cypress but... Can we eat something? I am famished." she said after a while. Both the fight against the Roc and the exchange with Menzai had took their toll not only on Viola's mind but on her body as well.

As she began speaking to Barrock, Zora noticed how Rowan's body tensed up, a clear giveaway of his discontentment after having lost control of the conversation. Amused, Zora could simply smirk as she continued. Provoking people who believed they were in control had always been one Zora's favorite pastimes.

Her thoughts were also quickly proven to be true, as Rowan didn't hesitate to immediately try to regain his lost 'authority' by saying they would be training and teaching Zora, which only caused her to let out an amused laughter, which, coupled with her amused expression as she looked at him would definitely annoy Rowan even more.

But Zora's attention quickly changed from provoking Rowan to Aurora as she spoke. Staying true to her words, Aurora's very tone of voice and even her eyes looked quite exhausted, which caused Zora to gently put her arms around her, gently hugging her.

"Kindness will always be repaid. You are not alone, Aurora. whenever you feel tired, exhausted or just needs someone to pamper you, don't hesitate to call your sister." Zora said with a gentle smile.

Just as she finished saying that though, she noticed the reason why Aurora had hesitated in speaking further, as her brother was now observing them instead of continuing his talk with Barrock.

"Oh please Rowan, don't tell me you are trying to control our girl talk now? Or maybe... you intend to join it?" Zora said, with a provocative smirk.

Mister Luum was watching the horizon’s pinkish hues retire elsewhere, allowing night to encompass the sky when Zeva approached. He slightly turned his head in her direction, only a slight grin on his face this time around. It might have come across as more genuine than his usually plastered smile.

“You almost seem like quite the reliable guy when you’re quiet like this,”

Mister Luum let loose a light chuckle as he turned his body around to lean his back against the banister alongside her as she began to inquire about her current predicament and of course oddity that was Bardulf's magic… and rounded ears.

“Well…” Mister Luum rubbed his chin as his eyes peered toward the very sky where the fae and pegasus flew. “I can tell you what you'd like to know but you should know that all knowledge comes at a price. Sometimes small, sometimes large but this hehehe, this one is like a beached kraken stuffed after eating a whale. Or perhaps an overweight dragon… a very old and very overweight dragon. You know, because they never stop growing.” Mister Luum nodded for his own confirmation. “Just understand how big this is, okay? Good.” Mister Luum proceeded to open his palm closest to her.

“Everything with this rebellion pretty much banks on Bardulf and his ability. One that allows him to tap into elements that not many in this world can and also do so with greater ease than the most gifted of our kind.” An orb of vibrant violet light formed above his palm. It was about the size of a tennis ball yet it illuminated far beyond the space the two took up. “Our mission is quite simple. Protect and train him. Make his unique powers greater.” The violet orb suddenly grew twice its size and twice as bright before bursting into tiny sparkles of light that filled the space shared by the two. “And that's all you need to know about Bardulf for the time being. If there's anything or anyone else you'd like to learn more about, I'd be quite open. Bowyn, Rue, Starfire, Brigitte ummm… everyone except for that warforged Mister Luum squinted as he took in the sight of a Warforged walking across the deck. Hmm, I guess she's part of the Righteous Tern’s staff

Everything was dark.

Everything hurt.

Zion faded in and out of sleep, his dreams restless and his waking moments, brief snapshots of panic and confusion. Unfamiliar sounds and scents surrounded him, as he lay, barely able to move in a place he did not recognize.

This place smelled wrong, something sharp and bitter clung to the air. An uneasy feeling pulsed through his chest. I don’t want to here. I don’t want to be here.

He fell back asleep. He woke back up. Zion wasn’t sure how many times this happened.

Then, something familiar. A soothing voice he recognized.

Kenia?

But he wasn’t in the forest. Heavy eyelids struggled to open and once they did the light was blinding and disorienting. He couldn’t remember how he got here or where here was.

The last thing he remembered was fighting a pair of giant spiders, the burning sensation, trying to protect an elf cub. What happened after that? His arm still hurt.

He was lying somewhere soft.

Zion tried to get up, movement hurt and his arm hurt but he couldn’t get it to move.

His vision started to focus, blurry shapes in too bright room. If he was at the healing center why hadn’t they fixed his arm?

“Kenia? What happened to the elf cub?” His voice came strained, and the lion didn’t have the energy for a dozen other questions that floated around in his head.

He moved his other arm, the good one, as he tried to figure out how bad the damage was, but there was no arm. Gone. It was gone. His arm, a solid piece of him, was just gone.

His next breath was a haggard and frightened whimper. Zion held his eyes closed as a wave of nausea caused him to shiver.

“My arm is gone.” The mighty lion sounded like a confused child who’d gone outside to find his hoverboard gone. Beneath the shock was the hope that she would tell him it was just getting repaired and was soon to be returned.

The windy breeze of the sea continued brushing both cowl and hair aside as Bardulf fruitlessly tried to maintain a vigil of shroud to his face. After about the 15th time he gave up entirely and let the long brown locks of his flow freely. Still, each pace he took was measured and careful. After what could have easily been dozens of minutes he finally took his razor focus off the feel of the swaying ocean. Bardulf began to appreciate the sound of the wave lapping against the wooden ship, the errant beating of Starfire’s wings, the sounds of conversations above deck, and now the distinct clicking of wood on wood.

Somehow the last noise was louder than the rest and as Bardulf closed his eyes and listened intently to the sound, he realized a presence had unknowingly “snuck” up on him. He pivoted on his foot and swung to face the person with an almost robotic reaction. His purple eyes darted along the figure that stood before him, taking in their features. Bardulf could barely process the idea of a Warforged or the concept of artificial life in the first place. Yet here was living proof walking right into his path, or perhaps Bardulf walked into hers.

He lowered his arms that likely took a defensive stance, like that of a wild animal, and hid them under his winter cloak. With a nod he spoke softly to the Warforged. ”H-hello. Who might you be?”
