Location: Helm of the Saltrunner
Mentions: The Entire Pirate Crew

With the approaching threat, and a few of them still lightly wounded from their skirmish, Tanithil thought of taking the evasive route. But an idea popped into his mischievous brain of combining an evasive maneuver with a little bit of battle savvy tactics to hopefully throw off the other pirates. ”Oi! Drew! Come take the wheel ya lazy bones and keep her peelin’ to port.” The young elf jumped up to the wheel and firmly gripped the wheel to hold the ship steady while Tanithil began to make his way below deck.

”Either get below deck with the cargo or get ready for a shock. We’re gonna give em a broadside to scare em off!” He shouted to the crew before practically jumping down the stairs. He gathered a couple nearby hands to ready two cannons along the starboard side of the ship. As they began to approach, a few figures above the ship could be made out to those who had good vision or a spyglass.

At center stage stood a proud looking light elf who sported a black tricorn and a silver stained leather eyepatch. Flanking either side of him were two canine demihumans who seemed to be literally chomping at the bit for some action. The light elf raised his hand and the ship steered towards the Saltrunner, ready to engage in some naval combat.

"ENOUGH!" Viola's commanding shout filled the air, as Phia had been approaching. Though she had missed the context of the conversation, she could sense the intensity of the moment as the thorny vines drew outward. Phia halted where she stood, the sway of her magenta hair slowing with her hesitation. She was surprised to see such behavior from Viola, whom she had trusted to bring to Guarav. She frowned and hastened her steps toward the group. Thankfully Menzai had begun to step away and Viola hadn't harmed him with the thorns. Instead, she had retracted them.

Just as Viola had voiced her interest in food, Phia awkwardly joined, waving a hand once she had come into their field of vision, "Hello there... Cyrus and Viola." Her gaze, akin to doe eyes, absorbed the scene with a childlike wonder. Phia's genuine smile persisted as she decided to speak her mind, her way of expressing herself akin to someone who saw the world through a different lens. " I am glad to see that Viola has not chosen violence. I still am not happy though because it appeared like you were going to hurt my Menzai for a moment."

She then raised her small paint set with a playful yet determined glint in her eyes. "I brought this. We will make signs...After we eat."

"Hmmmm..." Following these people around weren't the satisfying answers Barrock wanted, but it was what he expected. He wanted to see something a lot more reassuring, something that felt like rebel activities or that he was working towards a goal. But he'd take that answer for now.

"Nothing happened." He grumbled. "I caught sight of my kinship several times, and nothing has changed in my absence. The same gluttonous beasts I left behind."

Most orcs never learnt. Some like that clan that favor peace and cooperation were the only exception, but even he couldn't stand them. They often fancied themselves as enlightened orcs, which he considered self-congratulatory nonsense. Some looked at him no different from the orcs of his clan, which told him all he needed to know. They might be more civilized than normal orcs, but they weren't anymore than the rest, and would be subjected to just as much biases.

He noticed Aurora saying something was approaching, and while Zora joked about her brother's controlling tendency, Barrock could sense something too. Not physically, his danger senses were tingling. He clutched his sword close to his thighs, one hand on the hilt and one on the sheathe. "Ready your weapons..."

Location: Riverbloom
Interactions: Barrock @Conscripts, Aurora @Mole, Rowan, and Zora
Mentions: General Malaggar
Equipment: A greataxe with Shockwave and Ethereal enchantment, Leather armor with Absorption enchantment, and Magic Nullification shackles

The scene of the 4 humanoids gathered around a campfire in Riverbloom was a pleasant enough sight. The group was bonding and socializing so that they would perform better as a unit and grow closer as potential friends. Panning out, there was a broad figure hiding in the tree line. Someone who had been trailing them for some time on foot - and finally managed to catch them at a moment's rest. This elf was persistent to say the least. With orders from General Malaggar herself to either wound, kill, or capture any of the alleged rebels. He had his doubts that they were to be found so quickly, but hearing them talk of the "New Dawn" was all the confirmation he needed.

Stealth certainly wasn't Veric's strongest suit either - as he quickly realized the female light elf had begun to notice his presence. But this did not concern him. A wicked smile showing a flash of white malice in the darkness followed by the unsheathing of his greataxe meant Veric was ready to pounce on his prey, and shed as much blood as he could before making his final move. He was unsure which target to go for just yet - as his eyes panned around amongst them all. Finally his gaze landed on the one who seemed to be the most exhausted of the bunch.

"No shame in an easy target first. Let's start the fun..." He whispered to himself before launching himself from the tree-line. He hoisted his great-axe over his shoulder for a moment to reveal a small iron ball of bands that seemed to be shimmering with some form of enchantment. Meeting eyes with the strange foreigner - who talked of being a power rivalling a god - Veric decided that it was time this god be silenced. He chucked the ball in her direction, prompting it to begin unfolding into a full iron-bonded restraint chassis that would bind her should she not dodge it.

Once the ball was in the air, Veric continued his sprint at Aurora, axe swinging down in front of the group as a shockwave began to ring out from the earth that it struck. It was primarily aimed at the female light elf, but the others could very well be damaged should they take the hit as well. Playtime's over, rebels! Time for the General's finest to collect his prize!"

.

The crickets began to chirp as the sun had set. A black-haired elf treaded softly through the woods, each step accompanied by the rustling of branches beneath his feet. It had been hours and he had yet to find the human. He slowed to a pause as a heavy ache settled in his chest, and the familiar weight of sorrow draped over him like a shroud.

He had to find Jun and he would no matter what. But even then... What did he say to him to make him want to stay at this point? It had only been a week ago that a female elf had thrown her drink in his face and informed him he had been the least charismatic man she had ever met after Malachi had frustrated her with his cold words. That hadn't surprised him in the least. He hadn't had the energy to put much effort into others and was used to reactions as such.

What had surprised him had been the comment of someone nearby.

"He wasn't always like this."

Upon a glance, he recognized the speaker as someone he had once known back when all had been different.

He was right... I was different... Maybe the man I had been would have been the one who could comfort Jun and convince him that he'd be safe with me. If only I could just be him again.

Halting in his tracks, Malachi's hand instinctively delved into his pocket. Within the hidden recesses of his bag were memory glasses, he retrieved one small memory glass. As he gazed at the image captured within, his countenance softened. A silent reverie enveloped him, fingers delicately tracing the contours of a past that seemed distant. Back then, I was different. I truly believed I could protect them. Now I know I cannot truly protect anyone, no matter how much I want to... But this time I must. The dark elves will pay for what they have done.

Suddenly, a flicker of movement caught his eye. A distant figure, barely discernible in the night stirred hope within him. Without a second thought, Malachi's heart quickened, and he ran towards the figure, his emotions propelling him forward.

Time: Evening
Location: Gaurav Village
Interactions: Viola, Phia@princess, Menzai@samreaper
Equipment: A pack with some supplies, seeds (in his pockets), a small knife, a mask that hangs from his belt, a weapon with a shifting charm that is either a sickle or a glaive, and a shield/drum with an unbreakable charm.

Nothing appeared to be happening besides the brief, intense, stare between Viola and Menzai, but tension clung to the air. His sister shouted out a single word, "ENOUGH!", and the vines of the Blood Rose reacted as if they were in the midst of battle.

Absentmindedly, Cyrus’ hand reached out towards a tendril of deadly vine, it had narrowly avoided impaling him, close enough his arm need not stretch to reach it. Even now it twisted to keep its thorns away from him. Of course, the Blood Rose was so intertwined with Viola that her wishes and the plant’s wishes were the same. He was no threat to them, his sister and her plant, and so the plant was careful not to harm.

If Viola held any true desire to harm Menzai the plant would’ve done so. Instead, the vines had reacted like the quills of a porcupine, an attempt to defend against and deter a threatening presence. Somehow Menzai had provoked Viola in a way Cyrus couldn’t see. Menzai was a man of many secrets and a wolf in more than just appearance.

As the wolf began to speak again Cyrus could only wonder how truthful his words were. If Menzai was at least honest about knowing who had answers for them, then he’d just have to work with the wolf until he got a clearer picture of what was going on.

“You make heavy requests and choose to refrain from explaining your reasoning for them. We are only trying to ensure your motives are not incompatible with ours. If the situation were reversed, would you not ask similar questions? Seek to understand the situation as much as you can?” Cyrus asked Menzai. He didn’t expect an answer, even before Phia showed up holding paints.

“Harm Menzai? Of course not, Phia. Viola was merely demonstrating how adapt her plant is at protecting her. Even the smallest threat and the Blood Rose reacts swiftly. Impressive isn’t it? Now a meal followed by painting, count me in.”

“Luum is strange, even for an elf,” Bowyn mulled over his thoughts for a moment. “And I trust his loyalties but I wouldn’t count on him to risk his life for any of ours, not even Bardulf. I think Luum values himself over anyone else.” Bowyn’s thoughts lingered on Luum for another moment, the elf had gifted him a levitation ring. An action he couldn’t quite make sense of still. Was it just a gift, a veiled insult, or an attempt to buy loyalty? Maybe Luum just wanted him vexed trying to figure out the reason behind it. He shook his head, he’d have to figure that out later.

“But Zeva? She barely knows what she’s getting into. She might sell us all out the second things get dicey. Probably got a nice family, bright future up ahead, you think someone like that’s going to put that all at risk?” Bowyn asked, he took in deep breath of cold, briny air. Bringing Zeva into the group was yet another of Luum’s decisions he didn’t understand. “She knows what Bardulf can do, knows too much about us. We have to keep a close eye on her, can’t give her any chance to betray us.”

He felt the carefree breaths of Starfire as she followed the path of the ship. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d breathed that easy.

“The real question is, what do you make of Bridget?”

Zeva tried to trace her gaze to what Luum was looking at in the horizon, finding the magnificent silhouette of Rue’s pegasus soaring across the skies. Its wings flapped in smooth curves, catching the illumination of the setting sun like a paint brush softly dipped into orange and pink pigment. She envisioned for a moment what it would be like to fly as freely as the pegasus. There would be no worry about getting to class on time, dealing with customers at the Oak Tree, evil dark elves, or political revolution – only the wind beneath her wings. But the thought was fleeting, and Zeva quickly returned her attention to Mister Luum.

As he spoke, imagery of consecutively larger beasts cycled in her mind. Zeva was growing used to being confused when Luum spoke. Regardless, she understood he was telling her the hefty weight of acquiring this information, though the elf never granted explicit details on this mentioned ‘price’.

Luum continued, a brilliant orb of light appearing in the palm of his hand; a mastery of light magic that Zeva had yet to achieve. The light stretched across the wooden deck, casting harsh contrast against the grainy details and damp algae crusted onto the ship’s planks. As marvelous as this demonstration was, it could not distract from the worry of learning that the fate of the mission rested in Bardulf’s hands. Zeva found it hard to place her trust in the novice stranger – or at least, she didn’t get the impression he was particularly strong. Train him indeed…that much is necessary. Then, the orb of light in Luum’s palms swelled until it burst into a dazzling array of stars and sparks, reflecting a galaxy in Zeva’s widened eyes. The spectacle faded, and darkness fell upon the two again.

Zeva grinned. “Well, I guess that’s all I need to know for now. Train Bardulf, huh? Definitely. Guess I’ll ask him about his weird ea-” Zeva stopped abruptly, remembering the shock of her horrid nickname from earlier, but quickly regained her composure, “-ears, later.”

She looked down at her own hand, curious, and began to collect light at her fingertips. Her rough, calloused palms faintly glowed, somewhat visible against the darkening sky. Only the edges of her fingers seemed to conjure enough energy to be truly called ‘light’. The light surged and flowed like calm waves to the ends of her hands, until a marble of luminescence finally formed above her index finger.

And with a strong shake, the light dissipated into the air. An aggravated sigh huffed out from Zeva’s chest. “I should probably train more too…ha ha.” She switched her attention to the two figures that had entered their view on the deck – Bardulf, and a peculiar warforged with intricate blue patterning interrupted with some streaks of gold. The latter’s appearance intrigued the young elf, finding a foreign kind of beauty in her craftsmanship. She turned back to Luum, “Wow, I haven’t seen a lot of warforged but this one’s so pretty! Wonder if she’s strong too…”

Time: EVENING
Location: EXT./INT. THE TIPSY TAVERN - RIVER PORT
Interactions/Mentions: The guy cosplaying as an elf @princess; The golden lion furry @Helo; The lady in a purple dress @Tae; Tavern patrons
Equipment:

Jun stood at the entrance of The Tipsy Tavern, his heart doing a weird jitterbug. He wasn't exactly a fan of places like these (too loud, too much going on). But as much as he wanted to leave River Port and put as much distance between Malachi and the others, he knew wandering around in the dark wasn't the brightest idea. Plus, he had zero clue which way to go. And, as any seasoned RPG player knows, a tavern's the best place to gather info. Biting the bullet, Jun pushed open the creaky door.

Immediately, he was hit by a wall of laughter, chatter, and all-out party noise. The air, thick with the scents of spilled booze and tobacco smoke, carried an undercurrent of musky, not-so-charming hint of BO that really, really needed to be aired out. He grimaced as his shoes stuck to the floor with every step – when did they last mop up this mess? The combined heat from all the bodies and fireplace only made things even more unpleasant.

The place was rammed with clientele from every corner of life. Around scattered tables, weary travelers and townsfolk were kicking back, offloading their day's burdens. Some were all about that drink in hand, others about the company they kept. Over in one corner, a bunch of regulars, still in their work clothes, were going hard at a darts game. The thud of darts hitting the board mixed with cheers and groans, as bets were won and lost. In another corner, an orc and what looked like a minotaur were locked in an intense arm-wrestling match, surrounded by a shouting crowd. High above, a bard was trying their best to strum out a tune on their lute, which got pretty much lost in the racket.

Right in the heart of it all, there was a wild party going on. It gave off major frat party vibes – the kind Jun always steered clear of back in uni.

As Jun tried to navigate through the crowd towards the bartender, he got a sudden shove. The burly, scar-faced dude in mismatched armor who bumped into Jun shot him a stink eye, clearly miffed by Jun's failure to dodge.

"Hey, watch it!" he slurred as he swayed on his feet.

"I-I'm sorry, I did-di-di-didn't mean to—" Jun stammered, backing away.

The guy squinted and studied Jun's appearance. "You're not from around here, are you?" He leaned in close enough for Jun to get a whiff of his last few drinks. "Hold up… You... a Human?"

"N-no!" Jun blurted. If he remembered Avalia's setting correctly, 'humans' don't naturally exist. The only ones that do were the summoned 'chosen.' Meaning, it'd be easy for The New Dawn to track Jun down if he said he was human. Safer to pretend he was roleplaying as some other race. "I'm… um… uhhh…" His eyes zipped around and landed on a group of dwarves. "A dwarf!"

For an awkward beat, the guy said nothing, blinked, then frowned. "A dwarf?"

"Y-yes. A very tall dwarf." Jun quickly added. "With giantism."

The guy just stared (and Jun could only return the look) until he cracked up. "A giant dwarf, you say! Haven't seen those before." He slapped Jun on the back. "Sit your giant dwarven arse down, boy, and drink!" Before Jun could protest, he was dragged into the thick of the party and pushed onto a seat. A massive jug of beer thudded in front of him, its frothy contents sloshing over.

"Uh… thank you, but I just wanted to ask if anyone knows the best way out of River Port," Jun tried to explain but wasn't sure if anyone could hear him over the noise. "Or if there's anything dangerous out there I should watch out for..."

"You want answers, giant dwarf? You drink with us!" declared the guy and the table roared in agreement. "Bottoms up!"

Feeling the weight of dozens of eyes on him, Jun hesitantly lifted the jug to his lips, the heavy scent of beer filling his nostrils. With a deep breath, he took a careful sip.

Mari & Aerilyn

Time: Evening
Location: Camp made outside Roshmi

Hours later…

Aerilyn scowled at Thraash picking a rock from beside her tossing it at the dragonborn “STOP THAT RIGHT NOW YOU BIG DUMB LIZARD!” She got up and put her hands on her hips to glare at Thraash and even looked as if she was going to say more, but then she heard the demanding sound of the warforged speaking. Aerilyn looked over to find Five picking up Mari by her shirt.

“Holy fuck! Y’all need to settle down! No manhandling my dinner guests, Five!”

“Whoa!” Mari had exclaimed as she was raised in the air. The light elf had glanced down to admire the height she was hanging as, wiggling her feet with mild interest. Then, she raised her gaze to look into the three eyes boring into her. “Uh. Right. Yes. I heard this Scathael guy is good at fixing things and I think he can work on your pretty robot arm and get it back in order. Oh! And I also know where to find him. Once we’re all done eating, I can totally lead you there if you promise to be a good boy, mister bossy robot pants.”

“Well, I guess that’s all I need to know for now. Train Bardulf, huh? Definitely. Guess I’ll ask him about his weird ea-”

Good… I’d hate what I’d have to consider doing to you if you pushed the topic. What a waste that would be. Despite the grim thought, Mister Luum kept up his pleasant expression, if those familiar with him could call it that. That constant cheery smile of his had always accompanied his nonsensical ways. An expression that was initially welcoming could in time garner irritation. It was something most if not all would believe he was oblivious to but the middle-aged elven mage knew what he was doing. He always knew what he was doing… and that might be one of the most unsettling mysteries of the enigma that was Mister Luum.
Just as Zeva’s attention had been affixed to his display of magic, Mister Luum found his sights locked on Zeva’s attempt to accomplish something similar to what he had just performed. Something that was simply child’s play for him was like forcing a large boulder to budge for the young elf. She accomplished so little but her effort was something to admire. For Mister Luum, magic had always seemed spectacular and was something he could speak and ponder about for hours at a time, especially that of light magic. There were many theories on the topic, showing that even the magically inclined denizens of Avalia still lacked all the answers to it. Perhaps that’s part of what always allured Mister Luum to it.

“Wow, I haven’t seen a lot of warforged but this one’s so pretty! Wonder if she’s strong too…”

“Strong… Ehhh, they did not do much to help us win the war. They were built to fight, sure but they lack things that make truly good soldiers. Hmm…” Mister Luum looked on as the Bardulf approached the warforged before he could elaborate further. His words had been interrupted by the wheels turning in his head more so than normal. “I think you’re onto something, Zeva. A warforged could prove useful to us. To give purpose to a compact war machine without a purpose. Genius!” Mister Luum’s eyes lit up as if he had just won a table at one of Roshmi’s gambling halls. It seemed like his attention was completely taken by the idea until he used his staff to softly tap the hand Zeva had conjured magic with.

“An old teacher of mine, and she was very old by the way, once told me that magic is easy for everyone and that the hard part is figuring two things: The talent of your magic that comes more naturally to you and how to apply that talent to whatever else you can do… or want to do. Projection, imbuement, shaping, channeling, bending, and a bunch of other things are different areas that some are better at than others.” He shrugged. “Stick with us, and I’ll ensure you won’t need a fancy school to be incredible… I did of course but you won’t, I assure you.” He gave her an assuring wink, though how can someone be sure when it’s Mister Luum?

Sensing the vines just before bursting forth, Menzai had instinctively leapt back in defense. The speed proved surprisingly fast even for the wolf-kin as he still found himself trapped; cursing his injured state.

Upon landing with a gentle gait, his body knelt partially low, prepared for possible following attacks. After a few seconds of no such signs, Menzai casually standing up into an relaxed pose as he felt no hostility. This led him to assume this to be a form of defense mechanism; shame that he could not allow himself to admire the plants many intricate feats. Gingerly shifting his right foot back, his gaze studying the thorn nearest his heel. Slowly, he inched the foot back; taking note of how it seemed to actively avoid pricking him.

Fascinating as all this was, for such an extreme reaction to occur left Menzai to then peer at Lady Viola with confusion. For while he could understand some unpleasantries with what she was glimpsed, but to react to such extreme degree?

At least, that was how he appeared on the surface, but beneath, the seal was working in overtime; a faint dark violet glow could almost be seen beneath the haori.

Regardless if this had just been for defense and the fairy's expert control. To dare to do such a sudden and reckless thing like this...

And in the immediate presence of his family...

Beneath that look of confusion; furious bloodlust thrashed just beneath the surface; scratching and gnawing desperately. The thick smog of blood spurning the voracious wrath all the more, his instincts warning him of danger while something....deeper desired...

Dangerous! .... Wretched weeds .... Reeks of blood.... give her more....tear out her throat...KILL!

A very percicptial whisper in his own mind; an almost guttural and rough sound almost like a feralistic wolf attempting to speak. Each word raking across his mind.

All Menzai could see right now was Viola, his eyes a ferocious fire fuming.

An internal conflict wholly new even to the wolf; saved only by the emotional spell searing his flesh beneath. Yet, it had not been quite enough; forcing him to clench his remaining hand with fresh blood dripping from palm. The fresh crimson like sweet morning dew to the bestial instinct.

A decision that came with a cost and it was the only thing tethering Menzai's logical side in place.

* Had she lost control or overreached.... my family....Phia...* This thought was all he could think about at this moment.

Kill! Kill! Dangerous....will bring harm to her... KI-

*...No. She is Phia's..sister.* His logical side pushing through to allow this thought to form that tempered back the tumultuous animosity.

Magnolia.

An ever-familiar scent, that with a single whiff soothed the wolf who had been in the midst of battling his feral protective urge. All the ill-thoughts and anger melted away.

Graceful for his senses that allowed him to come to his senses.

He refused to allow the sweet fairy, who arrived shortly after to see her step-brother displaying....such a horrific side.

This had Menzai concerned and unsure what to do with what he had just experienced; one that left him completely drained on what little energy he had. Energy used towards jumping back.

Perplexing as it was terrifying, but a part of him understood what it was.

For just as much as he had his gentle and logical human side, deep within there always lurked a beast within all wolves.

And a wolf Menzai was.

Said wolf could also barely stand on his feet and yet, even then... had it come down to it... Menzai would have fought with every last ounce to protect them.

" I am glad to see that Viola has not chosen violence. I still am not happy though because it appeared like you were going to hurt my Menzai for a moment."

Her words showing concern for her step-brother, were heart melting and greatly appreciated, giving him just the boost needed to keep him going. Though it also saddened him to have it said towards her actual brood. He hoped this would not leave her looking at them unfavorably.... amending things would only prove more difficult were that so.

" Indeed, no harm has been done here. As Sir Cyrus said, a demonstration. A very impressive display of skill and prowess, none here can deny that" He stated in his usual calm tone though his voice came out slightly raspy, the mere effort proving almost too much.

“You make heavy requests and choose to refrain from explaining your reasoning for them. We are only trying to ensure your motives are not incompatible with ours. If the situation were reversed, would you not ask similar questions? Seek to understand the situation as much as you can?"

Menzai listened to Sir Cyrus, the doubt in his words clear as were some uncertainties. Perhaps they shared a confusion towards what had occurred, albeit for different reasons.

This had not gone well. Frustratingly so and there was nothing he could do but post-pone these misunderstandings for tomorrow.

" What you say, Sir Cyrus is true. What I ask is heavy, yes but only asked from a place of caution." A sly glance towards Phia, one Cyrus would easily notice were he watching his face, hinted with exhaustion.

" Having said such, unfortunately any further talk must wait. I extend apologies and hope each of you can afford me a second chance to explain." A light bow of the head." And impressive as Lady Viola's prowess...the abrupt and spontaneous nature...." Taking a moment to resign at the situation's overall sour ending." So, I must shamefully ask, dear Phia to save me a plate for tomorrow."

Turning in preparation to make departure towards the house, but paused shortly." I bid you all good night and may your dreams be pleasant. And Sir Cyrus, Lady Viola, I ask you think on my request, at least until the next time we can talk?" At the end he eyed Cyrus, hoping he could understand how serious he was about this.

As much as he loathed doing so himself. But, they were said purely out of brotherly concern. Still, they did little to assuage the guilt of leaving the innocent fairy in the dark.

With that, Menzai made his way homeward and in passing of Phia paused briefly to give her a small, apologetic smile and an opportunity to hug him if she wished." Sleep well with sweet dreams, dear Phia." Bidding her personally, expressing his care for her; finished, the tired wolf made his departure.

The wolf's shadow weighed doubly so beneath the twin sister's dazzling glow.

Phia seemed perplexed by the answer she received from Cyrus, but relented as Menzai assured as well that no harm had been done. "Ooooo.... Viola... Her skill truly is remarkable, isn't it? Such a rare technique." she mused with genuine admiration. Her gaze then shifted to the female fairy, offering a warm smile filled with encouragement. "I'm so proud of you for building a skill to protect yourself," she added, bringing her hands together in a pleasant gesture.

As Menzai announced his departure, Phia's excitement for their time together dimmed. Once he paused before her, she turned to face him with a smile nonetheless.

"Good night, Menzai," she said, enveloping him in a passionate hug. "I will save you the greatest plate ever," she promised.

Then, she turned to Cyrus and Viola, "Well my lovelies. Follow me to the dining area of our home and we can eat!"

Phia led them inside Menzai's home, guiding them to a wooden dining table adorned with a variety of meats, breads, and fruits. To Phia's disappointment, Viola filled a plate and decided to take eat dinner alone in the guest room.

Seating herself across from Cyrus, Phia maintained her warm and encouraging demeanor. "Well, it's just you and I now. A nice opportunity for us to get to know each other and become friends," She said, picking up a spoon. Then, she held the larger part of the spoon in her palm and gripped it whilst using the thinner end of the spoon to stab a piece of meat and lift it to her mouth.

Location: Gaurav Village
Interactions: Phia@princess, Menzai@samreaper
Equipment: A pack with some supplies, seeds (in his pockets), a small knife, a mask that hangs from his belt, a weapon with a shifting charm that is either a sickle or a glaive, and a shield/drum with an unbreakable charm.

“It is an unfortunate necessity that such extreme means of protection is needed, but nontheless, it is needed.” Cyrus replied to Phia’s comment but looked only at Menzai with a somber nod. At Menzai’s departure Cyrus and Viola followed Phia to the dinning area. There was a small pang of disappointment as Viola chose to withdrawal alone for her meal, but he simply smiled throught it. He plied his own plate with a variety of fruits and bread, avoiding the meat upon the table.

He said nothing as Phia immediately dug into her food, stabbing at her food with the handle of a spoon. He bowed his head, closed his eyes, and paused to give thanks for a meal and for the forces that had brought Viola and he to Phia. As Cyrus ate his food with his hands and Phia held her spoon in a strange manner, it was all too easy to picture their mother tutting over poor table manners while wearing an exacerbated smile.

“Riverfruits,” Cyrus spoke as he picked up one of the large purple fruits from his plate, “are my favorite fruit. When I was little, if I ever had a bad day, my older brother would take me to get Riverfruit Slushes, and somehow, somehow a frozen treat used to be all it took to make things better.” He placed the fruit back on the plate. “I also like to save my favorite bite for last. How about you, Phia, a favorite fruit? A favorite food?” He asked before taking a bit from a piece of fresh bread.

Masako regarded the stranger in front of her with curiousity. His demeanour reminded her of a skittish wild animal, meeting with something unfamiliar. He was handsome despite his scars, maybe it even added to his looks. It was comforting to see that there was beauty in brokeness, even in Avalia's other species.

She answered in a melodic voice.
"I am Masako, warden of the Altmer elven family who reside in the Ironhold. I was..." She stopped her well practiced recitation of her purpose in this world. There it was again. This strange and uncomfortable feeling, like something was stuck in her throat. It made her otherwise unwavering delivery sound much more emotional. The blue glow filling up her eye sockets flickered.
"I mean, I am the caretaker of their children, my wards"

"It is my purpose to find them and return them home safely."

Phia's gaze lifted to fixate on the big fruit in his hands. A smile slowly formed on her lips as Cyrus spoke. "Riverfruits are my favorite fruit too..." she remarked softly, her words tinted with a hint of nostalgia. Her brows slightly furrowed as she considered the story he had told her. She couldn't recall ever having a Riverfruit slush yet at the same time she could, if once upon a dream. She could almost taste the icy sweetness of the fruit, envisioning it served in a rustic wooden cup. She, too, suddenly grabbed a riverfruit. Then, she sunk her teeth into it with unnecessary vigor.

After a moment of loud chewing, she looked at Cyrus once more, "Can you take me to where I can find the slush version sometime?"

Rue nodded. She agreed he was strange and there was indeed something off and could feel it in her gut. Nonetheless, there wasn’t much she could do. ”I agree and sadly, I can’t put my finger on why I feel this way as well. I just… I just do. I guess my gut’s hyperactive due to the arena. I’m more wary than I used to be of others.” Rue considered what else he said, and gleaned over her shoulder at him. ”I’ll protect you, and Bardulf, always.” Starfire whinnied in agreement and she laughed. ”Guess she will too. That makes two.”

When the topic turned to Zeva, she exhaled loudly. ”She’s too young to be involved. If she has a family, I then feel bad. She should be back with them and not with us. I have an eye on them all, really. Poor Bardulf, he didn’t ask to be here either.” Rue flapped her wings to continue her momentum and stared forward.

”That woman’s an oddity. There’s something going on with her and Luum, I can feel it. All secrets come to light eventually, right?”

Rue shook her head. It felt like old times with Bowyn and her flying together and it was something she would cherish forever.

After the first sighting and report of The Silver Eyes, Arlen was one of the quickest to get a bearing on its position. At first, he remained there, ready to help their ship outmaneuver them as Tanithil had suggested. But then, the dark elf seemed to get a better idea. Arlen grinned, and followed the order to get below deck with a grin. “Hey, Tani, did I hear you say cannons? C’mon, man, you can’t mention cannons and not get me on it.” Smirking, he helped set up one of the guns. He positioned it carefully, meticulously. It wasn’t his pistols, sure, and the large caliber artillery was far more robust, but there were still tricks to get it shooting exactly where and how one wanted.

Arlen took a moment, closing his eyes as he drew upon his photokinesis. He packed as much light magic into the cannon ball as the time frame allowed, then got it into position. “Oooh-kay, loaded and ready. Careful with this one, boys, it’s gonna be a blast.” Of course, Arlen had aimed the cannon right at the tricorn and eyepatch bearing light elf in charge. That smug face would get a good scaring – or scarring, if they were lucky – alright. Now, just to get the timing exactly right…Arlen and the crew waited for the right moment, and when it came, the young light elf fired.

Rowan’s eyes shifted from Aurora and straight back to Barrock. His head nodded in understanding. “You become more interesting by the second, my friend.” The orc definitely had intelligence. There was no doubting that. His lips were as sealed as his own. His shoulders relaxed a little.

Why was he doubting his sister’s insight, again? He took a sip from his drink and glanced back over to her and Zora. She did look weary. He was about to ask about her well-being, but a ruffle through the forest jostled his senses. It was nothing like a small animal making an accidental big scene among the brush.

His hand went to his weapon.

A dark elf sprung from the tree-line. His white hair glistened in the moonlight as he charged towards Aurora and Vasco.

“AURORA!” Rowan shouted.

The jingle of her earrings chimed through the air as Aurora’s swiftly shifted her body to the side, twirling her cloak as she rolled towards Vasco. When she sat upright again, her staff was held prominently in her hand, guarding the human.

Darius by@FunnyGuy and Dante by @Alivefalling

Time: Evening
Location: Gaurav Village
Interactions:
Equipment: 2 shot glasses, 1036 Amas total, Flowers from Phia, Dante’s cellphone, and Dante’s knife

“Anything?! What’s the last thing you remember then?” Darius was quite perplexed upon learning that Dante had not remembered the events of the battle against the roc. Darius had been slightly worried before but now he was wondering if Dante was suffering from something below the surface.

Dante tried to recall the encounter but the last thing he remembered was the roc flapping a powerful gust of wind toward the group. He had guessed the massive creature’s attack had been the cause of the lapse in his memory. However, this was far from the truth.

“The gust of wind, I think… I figured something having to do with that knocked me out.” Dante shrugged simply but Darius’ raised eyebrow caused him to doubt his recollection of things. Darius shook his head as the two continued through the dim-lit village. To the two men, the fact that no one had no one had yet railroaded their path, meant they were moving stealthily enough despite their conversation that lacked any noise discipline.

“Not even close. That was easy to handle…” Darius glanced down at Dante’s leg where his pants were slightly torn. “Easy for me, I mean. You got tagged but it wasn’t anything to worry about. Anyway, the bird went after Phia but Menzai jumped in at the last minute to save her…” Darius winced as he remembered initially seeing Menzai missing his arm. Even now, it was a sight that would be difficult for him to face. Such an injury meant so many things to Darius. The morbidity of the world he and his brother were now a part of, a sacrifice he wished wasn’t necessary to save a life, how truly unprepared he was to face even just the natural threats of Avalia, and more importantly, his inability to prevent Menzai’s dismemberment. Menzai’s missing arm caused these feelings to surface, so Darius decided he would continue to avert his gaze upon their guardian wolf.

And though Dante, didn’t remember anything, Darius was sure his brother was confronted with his own demons at that moment. As Darius continued, things began to piece together in his head. During their two weeks of being here, it was mentioned that they would both have to maintain control of their emotions since their magic was strongly tied to them, even more so than the typical Avalian.

“And then?” Dante pressed as Darius left a few seconds of dead air between them.

“He lost his arm and then you… snapped. You lost it and I don’t know what you did exactly but the roc was done for. Your earth magic pretty much did the thing in but you wouldn’t stop. I pulled the cord.” Darius made a hand gesture of putting his index fingers together, side-by-side before pulling them away from each other to illustrate him going outside of the radius that allowed them to tap into their magical abilities.

There was a brief moment of silence as Dante had a feeling of what may have happened but wasn’t willing to share. Meanwhile, Darius found that he didn’t like retelling the incident and wished he hadn’t been the one to inform Dante.

“Oh…” Was all Dante could muster.

“Yeah… Um, I think we’re close to where our reward is being kept. It’s some good stuff, we’re gonna need more for whatever comes next.”

“We have to get stronger.”

“We will. That’s gonna happen again.” The two looked at each other and gave a firm nod in unison, silently affirming this covenant between them.
