Appearance: "Yeah, this isn't half bad..." Standing at a solid 5'11", Steven is somewhat tall by kitsune standards; his height seems to have been inherited from his past self's, which is a boon unto itself, but as an aspiring wanderer with dreams of adventure, standing out like that might not necessarily be a good thing.
Personality: Steven is an adventurous spirit at heart, with a great affinity towards exploration and excitement. Had he not been caught up in that fateful plane crash, it is quite possible he would have had to abandon such wishes in favor of a more lucrative path... But those expectations are no more. Wanderlust aside, Steven is just as eager to see what this new fantasy world has to offer as he is to test himself. With media in this genre having been so popular back on Earth, the thought of being able to make his mark on the world is just as exciting as it is daunting. Traveling the world with companions by his side, overcoming overwhelming odds, and not knowing what the next journey might hold... It is a romantic and, as he himself would admit, rather naive view of the life he wants to lead, but some part of him wishes for it even so.
History: Steven is far from unique. As the firstborn son of an two Chinese immigrants to the US, the weight of the world was placed upon his shoulders at an early age. Their dreams, their hopes, their expectations—all burdens he and many others his age grew to share, and under the same banner they grew. Some fell to the wayside, some gave up, and some—like he had—persevered. The days came and went, and Steven eventually found his way into a fairly prestigious private university as a biology major. While he could not say if the hell that was pre-med was worth the trouble that was surely to follow, it did at least allow him the freedom to take a trip overseas courtesy of his own savings. Where else did he wish to go but Japan, then, where so much entertainment that he consumed during his free time came from? Unfortunately, the one thing Steven did not expect was a front-row seat to a re-enactment of a genre trope that had long since played itself out ere long. At least it wasn't a truck...?

Skill Name: Kenki
Skill Description: Kenki can best be described as literally as the name it was given—"sword energy". Though not inherently magical by nature, kenki allows the user to empower swords and increase their blade's power and durability. The more refined the control over this ability one has, the more pronounced the effects.
Other: Can cook, but primarily focuses on East Asian cuisines. That said, it's not an easy thing to do so on the road, and with no familiar ingredients on hand most of the time aside... Nor any knowledge on how to make the components, but that's an issue for his future self.
Personality: Souji is a studious person, but not the type to completely neglect his own free time. A fan of fantasy games and related media, he'd make time for them whenever he could in order to keep himself from burning out. Even after the accident, it's unlikely that Sephily will ever cease to approach things with that mindset. With that being said, it doesn't change the fact that her serious outlook leads to an easily exasperated personality. Her patience quickly wears thin when faced with foolish behavior or aggravating situations. While she deals well with complex problems in studies or in free time, she dislikes having to deal with stupid people and will vocally voice her displeasure. Due to her studious nature, it shouldn't be any surprise she takes well to things involving magic, commonly playing mage characters in games she enjoyed in her past life. Perhaps quite ironically, Souji's taste in female characters tended towards petite, surly types, which certainly adds another layer to her new form. Entirely embarrassed by this situation, she is unlikely to directly introduce her previous identity, though she's rather poor at hiding her awkward feelings about her new body. Why did she have to end up a cute girl, and why did she have to end up so short?! Why did she have to end up her type?! Regardless of her temperamental demeanor and awkwardness over her new body, Souji tends to try and do the right thing when presented with dangerous situations even if she might vocally complain about it. She has a habit of keeping new people at arm's length, and is likely to be embarrassed easily be close proximity to others for a variety of reasons.
History: Prior to the tragic incident that claimed his life, Yukimura Souji's life wasn't particularly eventful. A capable student often sought for assistance with homework, he had a small number of friends that largely shared his own personal interests, and was able to maintain his own hobbies while succeeding well in his class work. Perhaps this induced some jealousy in some of his classmates during Middle School and High School, but he didn't suffer much of the effects from such feelings. Having just recently entered university, he was convinced to visit the US for vacation and--- Well, that's how things ended up this way.

Skill Name: Star Mirror
Skill Description: A living reflection of the world's stars. A special trait for a mage with an intrinsic connection to starlight. Normally, learning star-based spells would require study of the cosmos, but Sephily has a natural affinity for the stars. The School of Astromancy is a variant of offensive magic drawing on celestial bodies, particularly the stars. It is known for highly destructive offensive spells, with even the basic level spells being fairly potent in combat.
Other: Souji's favorite light novel is The Elf Mage Doesn't Approve, about a petite and tsundere elf mage and the protagonist's difficulties with her.
Appearance: Clocking in at a five foot eleven, Colleen is not a small woman. Long, sturdy legs on a toned and athletic body. Her flawless, unblemished skin evokes a supernatural beauty (according to herself) and her bright, serpentine eyes are a vibrant coral color. As for her garments, well, it seems as though whatever caused this reincarnation has decided to give her some new ones since her old ones would be rather ill fitting and got soiled in the accident.
A long white tunic along wkth a strap holding it up at the waist with a fashionable red bow. Long black thigh highs adorn her legs while comfy looking shoes that look ill suited to any strenuous work. A long shoulder length glove adorns her right arm, and a simple glove and wrist bangles adorn her left. Ignore the fact it lacks underwear.
Oh, and her hair has been turned into a wiggling mass of Coral snakes. She has mixed feelings on this due to being mildly terrified of snakes in her past life.
Personality: Colleen has been a go getter since the day she was born, and still is even now. Dying in a plane crash seems to have only motivated her to try even harder at everything and to carry on as she had been. Her successes in life have given her quite an arrogant and egotistical view of herself. Not to say she isn't friendly and can't get along with others. Working in a team for sports is something one learns, but at the same time one must remember she is the most important member.
History: Colleen was born to a rather poor family in the American north west. Early life was nothing notable, save for one thing - an intense desire to get out of poverty and a love of stories and fairy tales, novels, and other things where people pushed their bodies to the limits, attaining superhuman feats. In school, she worked hard. She pulled herself up by the bootstraps and made excellent, flawless grades in her schooling. Alongside this, she'd become a track star and an avid practitioner of Taekwondo, becoming increasingly enthralled with the sport and martial art.
Her life until the crash went rather simply then. Athleticism carried her through college, getting a scholar ship and attaining a black belt at the age of 20 and 1st Dan at 24. It was only a year after this, where she'd step on a plane that fateful day, on her way to a competition...

Skill Name: Mystic Veins
Skill Description:
Allows one to convert a portion of physical force (STR) to Magical damage (MAG). One must still learn how to do magic otherwise, however and is most effective with elemental magic such as fire, water, and air and works best when the body is unhindered by armor or weapons.
Appearance: A Dragonborn of relatively average height, Sylva stands roughly six feet and three inches tall. He has a muscular, athletic build and short, messy white hair which does almost nothing to cover his horns. His skin is tanned with patches of silver scales scattered intermittently across his body and his slitted, reptilian eyes are a bright aqua blue, mirroring a cloudless sky. Often, he is seen wearing a mischievous easygoing smile on his face.
The clothing he wears consists of a sleeveless white shirt with a brown scarf, obscuring the ring of scales around his neck and a pair of brown leather pants. His shoulders are covered by dark grey metal pauldrons and he wears russet-coloured furred-fingerless gloves. Topping it all off is a very short red cape held up by a short chain that hangs across his back.
He possesses a pair of somewhat short wings and a long-finned tail, matching the colour of his hair.
Personality: Sylva has always been a free spirit since the moment he opened his eyes. Reckless, energetic, sharp-witted and endlessly curious; he was the type to try just about anything at least once. His death and subsequent reincarnation did nothing to damper his inquisitive nature. Thrill-seeking and kind-hearted in equal measure, with a penchant for random bouts of melancholy, Sylva was both unreserved and hard to read at a glance. However, underneath his vivacious demeanour is a highly observant and driven individual with a rather morbid sense of humour.
History: Sylva was born shouldering the heavy weight of expectations. His parents had high hopes for his future and little tolerance for any failures. And yet, beneath the almost overwhelming weight of their expectations, his natural fascination with the world around him still grew. Despite his reservations, he was never really one to act out just to spite others. He met their expectations with vigour, which only served to fuel his curiosity all the more.
As he grew older, so too did his interests. His inquisitive nature made him a favourite amongst his tutors, who were all too happy to indulge his curiosity. Eventually, though, even they couldn’t keep up with him and he was once again left to his own devices. In spite of his outgoing demeanour, he never truly had anyone he could call a friend; a fact that wasn’t lost on him. Between his overbearing parents and his lack of social skills, it was no surprise, albeit disappointing nonetheless.
After he hit eighteen, he moved out of his parents’ house. But his adventurous spirit wasn’t satisfied with that alone, so he decided to leave his home city behind to study natural sciences abroad. As usual, he did well at what he put his mind to, even more so when it was something he actually enjoyed. To that end, he joined a travel club with a focus on ancient historical sites.
Things were looking up.... and then they were looking down.

Skill Description: Allows the use of runic magic in its basic form. Useful and versatile but not particularly powerful as of yet. Sylva is working to change that.
Other: Of the many things Sylva's learnt in his life, martial arts is one of his favourites. He's trained in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, with some minor instruction in Kendo, though not to the same extent.
Personality: Gloomy and introverted, the kind of person who just drifts through life without making any real connections. She's long since accepted that life is never going to get better and lacks the drive or ambition to really do anything about it, simply content (well, not really) to just hide away and lose herself in fantasy stories. She can only talk to people for a few minutes at best before she embarrasses herself talking about stupid, useless nonsense and having to suddenly shut up, so why even try in the first place?
A boisterous Hero of Justice, sworn to protect the weak and innocent from the predations of evil and darkness! Friendly and kind, and always there to lend an ear to the troubles of others in the hope that she may solve them. She's definitely never wracked by self-doubt or anxiety, that's for sure. With her heroic zeal and mighty sword she cleaves a blazing path through the world, hoping to make a real difference and change the world for the better.
Delusional? Whatever do you mean? Coping? Ridiculous. Earth was the lie, this is clearly the real me.
History: What a boring, pointless life, huh? Born in some no-name backwater town in the sticks, with no real prospects in life, the only time the aimless drifting was disturbed was when someone gave you a nasty shove? No wonder you spent most of it in your room, rotting away, all alone. All you did was read and watch and play trashy fantasy stories, wanting to just get away from everything but unable to do anything about it yourself. And the one time you tried to get away and do something? What's that, the plane crashed and you died as pointlessly as you lived? It's only fitting, really. You were never going to be anything anyway. Good riddance.
What's that, none of that really happened? It's completely ridiculous after all. You were never from Earth! You were but a simple farmgirl in this wondrous fantasy world until one day you came upon a magical blade. From then on, you wandered the land as a Hero of Justice, righting wrongs and fighting evil wherever you found it. That's who you truly are, right? That whole "Earth" thing was just some weird feverish nightmare, right? Right? Good, glad we're on the same page. Personality: Cheerful, friendly, convinced he's going to be the cool hero here, pretty bold, thinks he's funny. Definitely overconfident since he's yet to have that confidence crushed out of him by reality. History: Not much of interest really, he was a reasonably smart college graduate, he'd grown up middle class, wasn't really paying the whole "crippling student loan debt" thing any attention and was sure he'd be getting some great tech job any day now. Appearance: As a human Petra was the sort to blend in thanks to her slight build and unremarkable appearance, as a slime she instead blends in because she’s literally translucent. In her resting state, Petra appears as little more than a raised puddle or perhaps a jellyfish-like dome. Her amorphous flesh appears clear at its thinnest points, and purplish or blue at its thickest, depending on the angle and lighting.
Most people who knew her would have probably described her as a quiet and reserved girl, cautious and without much confidence, but those who got to know her well – and those who made the mistake of appealing to her curiosity, or worse, showing interest in her knowledge – might have caught a glimpse of her true personality.
At her core Petra is above all else, incredibly curious. Most of Petra’s past life was spent reading and researching trying to learn as much as she possibly could in a life that was far too short to learn it all. Despite her reincarnation into a world of swords and sorcery forcing her to throw out much of her understanding as to the fundamental underpinnings of reality, Petra is no less eager to learn in this life, actually, if anything, the countless new fields of study that have suddenly opened up to her have made her curiosity even more extreme than it ever was back on Earth.
From the moment she learned to talk, Petra has been asking questions. As a kid she drove her parents up a wall with her incessant questions, then later she did the same to her friends and teachers when she started attending school. As a young child, the only time Petra wasn’t nagging people with questions, would have been when she was excitedly explaining the things she’d learned to anyone who would listen – even when they definitely weren’t listening – because who wouldn’t want to learn everything about everything?
As she got older Petra eventually came to understand that not everyone shared in her curiosity; some people actively seemed to dislike answering questions or even learning new things themselves. Try as she might, Petra was never able to understand that mindset, nor how to predict who might hold it. Afraid of bothering people, but unwilling and unable to simply quash her own curiosity, Petra gradually withdrew from others as she grew up, in favour of studying the world on her own terms.
Beyond that, Petra led a pretty uneventful life right up until the point of her death – she got passable grades at school, spent her free time learning about whatever she could, never made very many friends but considered those she did to be good ones, and when she eventually graduated from high school moved straight on to higher education where she pursued a degree in science.
The single most interesting event in Petra's life would probably be her sudden death only a year into her degree.
Biomancy: A school of magic revolving around the analysis and modification of biological systems. Personality: Hikari is a rather serious workaholic, to the exclusion of well... much else. This has left her rather adrift when it comes to setting goals for herself, or developing hobbies--it's never really been a matter of choice for her. The only important thing has been whether it would be a career-advancing goal or socially important. Neither of which are terribly good bases for making decisions right now. Though, she does have a certainty that any customer-focused training--including presenting a positive front!--can only be helpful in this new scenario. Being so small does make it quite... threatening to be in a fantasy world.
History: A boring, work-focused childhood, full of intense studying, followed by a good university and hard study for a practical degree... then to be hired by a large corporation to do relatively boring office work. It's not like Hikari did all that much else even after getting the job; focusing on project goals and targets left little time to build a social life except when going out drinking with co-workers. All of which eventually did lead to a nice promotion, and then-- Being selected for a remote business trip, even getting a fancier seat on the flight. Not that Hikari was appreciating it, being far too busy working on a laptop and going over the presentation one last time to take advantage of any amenities except legroom. Even as the whole plane was going down, looking away to do something else didn't get through. At least that made for a much less stressful last moment than realising would have. But now... all that working up the corporate ladder, lost! Whilst it's gratifying to once again have a clear job in mind--even if it would never have been Hikari's choice--due to the outfit, not having an employer or clear advancement is horrible!

What's the point of playing nice, in a world even more cannibalistic than the last? Here, at least, he'll take all that he wanted and fill up his stomach before it's time to leave.
Cassius is here for a good time, not a long time.
History
It's not that complicated, really.
Once he died in such a stupid, random, unfair way, he left behind every reason to remain a law-abiding, hard-working, productive member of society. In a world so fantastical, so nonsensical, that it feels like walking through a waking dream, what reason is there to pretend that it's real? What are these people, except walking flesh that are even more surreal than the humans of his past life? He was not born here. He was not raised here. He was made here, injected into this wonderland after being exiled from his home. There was nothing to fear.
Appearance: Tall and lanky at an even 6 feet and just shy of 140 pounds, Connor looks like a swift breeze could knock him flat. His pale, haggard face is creased by deep shadows beneath his eyes, and he moves with nihilistic enthusiasm. Contrary to this he usually has impeccable posture, and can dress and groom himself well enough. He's currently wearing a faintly striped green dress shirt over a white tee, casually untucked and sleeves rolled, with a pair of dark, relaxed cut jeans and gray sneakers.
Personality: What personality? Connor is one of those people who hasn't had a lot of experience to develop themselves, but already feels tired of life. He sees many situations in "simple" shades of black and white, can't decide if he believes himself to be an idiot or a genius, and often resorts to dry, dour wit to push away any feelings of vulnerability. He's polite enough when spoken to, but an absolute coward without a computer screen between himself and the other party. Under the veil of anonymity he says a lot of things he'd never dare utter face-to-face--and a lot of things he doesn't even believe, but parrots regardless because he feels that's what's expected of shitposting "culture."
But off-putting attitudes aside, he's a quick learner, surprisingly good at teaching others or contributing to group projects, and willing to put in a great deal of effort, even if the rewards aren't quite what he would like. If you asked him, he'd claim it's because he believes in doing something correctly if you're going to do it at all. However, those last moments as the plane plummeted earthward put a new spin on a lot of perspectives...
History: Born and raised in a small town as an only child to older parents, Connor spent most of his formative years reading, watching cartoons, and playing videogames. A typical "gifted child who burns out later in life," he soon decided that he hated the "salt of the earth" types that surrounded his rural community, and that he was going to go to college in the big city and be the next rising star tech billionaire.
Having never learned proper work ethics and study skills, however, he flunked two semesters in a row, had his full-ride scholarships revoked, and had to get a wagie-job picking bins for 10 hours a day at a warehouse. In his spare time--or at least, what little was left over after he finished doom-scrolling social media and frequenting message boards and meme sites of nefarious repute--he attempted to turn a long time hobby into something that could potentially make him rich: writing crappy web-serial novels and hawking them on a subscription-based platform at every possible opportunity.
Several long flame wars and banned comments later, he had to acknowledge that his writing really wasn't that great. One of the most honestly helpful criticisms, no matter how much he hated it, was that he couldn't "write what he knew" if he knew virtually nothing about the world outside of the internet. So, with what little money he'd been able to save up (intending to somehow return to school) he decided to take his first overseas trip--to Japan, of course! And surprisingly, despite being scared as hell, getting lost or off schedule and panicking more than once...it was a very positive experience for him.
Needless to say, given our story's overarching introduction, the return trip ended badly.

At beginner levels the magical "wave" travels roughly ten feet before dissipating and is only about a foot long. The spell's effectiveness at this level compared to a weapon would be something akin to slashing at someone with a small knife.
Other: Connor hates political discourse and considers debates over strong values to be an absolute waste of time, especially his own. "It's Current Year, if we disagree we should just have the decency to kill each other already."
Personality: A rather cheerful and upbeat girl for most of her life as Sakura, she was a simple-minded, but pleasant person to be around who always did her best and got along with just about everyone. And this mostly applies even now as Bianca, someone that radiates positivity and confidence in her power. Not one to focus on the specifics of a problem, she'd much rather just brute-force her way to the answer, though she can very easily wind up completely missing the obvious, whether that be from her surroundings or even the people around her. She doesn't mean to be insensitive, she just really sucks at reading the room sometimes.
History: As someone that was decidedly average at best academically, the girl formerly known as Sakura seemed to just drift through life, getting by purely on vibes and rolling with whatever she got. Effort wasn't a thing she was into, and saw no real downside to unimpressive grades when she could just make up for it a little later! To her, it was just better to have fun with and get along with her peers, which certainly worked well enough during ehr school years. Jumping right into work at what ended up being a black company, however... well, after a few years of having her optimism and cheer sucked dry by endless overtime, ludicrous deadlines and hellish work schedules, you could hardly call her the life of the party. Still, through what could only be considered a miracle (or simply being the only one experienced enough and remaining with the company), Sakura was selected to embark on an overseas work trip, allowing the young lady to get more than four hours of sleep for the first time in a loooong time. Kind of sucks she still only managed, like, two hours before things got a little too rocky.

Personality: Rita is a bit of a happy person and this is only amplified by her high dependence on alcohol. When she can get her hands on it. Of course she’s not an alcoholic! She can quit any time, there’s just no reason to do so. That didn’t mean she could drink any time. Sometimes she had to be a bit more serious and focus on actual work. Personality: Good natured, laid back, and has a tendency to go with the flow of things. A bit of a daydreamer, the new chance at life in a fantasy world has stirred and sparked his previously slumbering spirit for adventure. He is much more eager now to explore the world and its wonders; sure, he was alright traveling before, but rarely went out of his way to do it. He likes to hang out with people, but doesn’t mind being on his own either. He generally tries to be friendly to others, but may come across as aloof or indifferent, as he has a tendency to get lost in his own thoughts, or be distracted by the environment. He definitely finds animals simpler to deal with, and spending time with a friendly critter is his go-to destressing activity. Though he wishes for his new life to be freer, if he must leave a mark, he wants it to be a good one.
History: In the previous world, he was a regular kid from a regular family, the first-born son with a sister four years younger. He had grandparents in a more rural area, and he enjoyed the visits there. Even as a city kid, he liked the peace and quiet. They had a dog there, too, and the boy was enthused. As much as he’d have liked though, the place he and his family lived in didn’t allow pets, unfortunately. So, he made do with watching shows – animal rescue was one of his favourites – playing games, reading, and doing other normal kid stuff. His interest in animals persisted, though, and when he was old enough, he volunteered at an animal shelter. He also decided early on that he’d become a vet, a goal he stuck to. Even when he struggled with the academics, and didn’t get into his university of choice on his first try, he persisted. He worked and studied for a year, and was confident he’d pass. He was proven right when he got the acceptance letter. To celebrate, he decided to take a short trip overseas. Well, it was supposed to have been a short trip.

Skill Name: Taming
Skill Description: The ability to establish a special, magical bond with one or more creatures. Note that a formed bond can be broken, either by the tamer or by the tamed creature.
Other: “Oh, I can bond with animals? That’s neat, I always wanted a dog. …Wait, does this world have dragons? Could I be a dragon rider? Man, how freaking awesome would that be?!”
Personality: A woman with a generally positive and sociable personality, Hikari is someone who wouldn't be bad to run into as a stranger in public. At the same time, she is someone who is used to putting on an act or a 'face' and even took theater class in high school in an effort to help her work as a young streamer at the time. While she is someone who enjoys being adventerous and times and frankly enjoys a good celebration, festive event, or party of sorts still, though at the same time Hikari is generally used to plugging away at whatever work is in front of her with some level of genuine focus and grit and determination. When she wants something, she puts her all into getting what she desires. While it saddens her to leave behind the loved ones she had just begun to really connect with and loved already, the chance to begin again and start anew in a new form, a new body, and a new life is something that certainly draws some of the adventerous side out of her for sure.
History: Hikari was born a little girl to a young but unready second-generation immigrant teenagers in California, being given away for adoption and an unknown future for one reason or another. Here she would be in the system, though luckily for her it wasn't long before being picked up by a wealthy New England family living in the northeast of the United States of America. Taken into the affluent but philanthropic Yates family, but keeping the primary name her biological mother had given her beforehand, Hikari would be raised in a life of general luxury and wealth that would see her geared up to have 'nothing but the best' due to the affections of her adoptive parents. Albeit while she did prove to have some notable inborn talents in academics as a young child that her parents and teachers sought to foster, she also had her 'partying rich kid years' later on as a teenager to seemingly counteract this bit of good fortune. Even then, however, her intellect was put to a sort of use as the girl proved too have a knack for programming and coding after she had the idea of becoming a website designer and video game streamer during these years as well. One hired tutor and some 'tough love' negotiations later, and Hikari's skills in the area showed a good bit of promise for the future as a career.
It was all exasperating to her adoptive parents to be sure, and yet her skills were something that a future could be built upon at least. Ultimately, her and her parents would have a proper 'heart to heart' during her senior year that would, and with the threat of a potential grounding for the rest of her senior year among other things included, finally be pushed to agree to a deal for her own future. She would take up a part-time job out of high school, pursue a degree in computer sciences at a respectable enough college, and in return get to keep her streaming and would get some financial support from her adoptive parents. This, as well as practical experience in a 'normal retail job', would then in turn push Hikari to actually grow to some extent and 'sober up' to a certain extent as well in the coming years. Especially as she was exposed to the wider world 'irl' somewhat.
Going to a respectable enough university in the end, albeit after a bit of work to secure some basic scholarship or another, Hikari would begin work on her degree. She would somewhat remain the party-loving kid, continued to stream, and would even create her own Vtuber model and debut as an independent Vuber after getting her bachelor's degree. For the most part her skills would be put to practical use in her personal pursuits as they became a source of income for her, though in time she would begin to put them to use in a formal job of sorts as a part-time computer programmer on the side for further income. It was the eventual compromise she made with her parents in the end, and by the time she established herself well enough she'd eventually come to general terms with her parents and they had come to some terms with her and the expectations they'd had for her. Somewhat.
In time, Hikari would become curious about her biological parents and, as an adult, reach out to look for them. Turns out they had eventually grown up and married each other, and she had a young blood sibling who enjoyed watching her streams by chance! Albeit her biological parents had gone to Japan to care for Hikari's father's last remaining grandparent there for the past several years. It was a curious situation, but after several conversations over the phone her biological parents revealed they would like to meet her and get to know her better after all of those years apart....years they had spent too afraid to reach out to her after their reckless youthful years. It would be to this end that Hikari would travel to Japan to go see them, there finding what felt like the beginnings of a new part of her life. A bit of closure. A bit of history. A bit more family. It was something her adoptive parents seemed to be rather proud of as well, and she was going to visit them after the return tip to the United States via a simple and safe ride on a plane.
Yet tragically, as the way of an isekai protagonist goes, the plane she was on would never make it to its destination.

-Hikari's hobbies in her former life involved anime and manga and definitely a fair few video games for her personal time, these being her self-appointed 'guilty pleasures' to indulge in alongside the likes of spicy foods and beach vacations in the summers if or when she got the chance.
-Hikari had a dedicated exersize regiment each day, mostly something that became a personal habit after getting a 'muffin top' in high school around her waistline. She panicked, began to try to get fit, and then mellowed out into a proper and fit long-term routine after she got into college.
-Hikari's new name of "Nyana" simply popped into her head automatically as she wakes up in her new body and in a new world.
-Even when young, her parents sought to learn Japanese and get her to learn it, as well as took occasional trips to Japan among their choice of international countries for overseas vacations, to try to help her 'connect with her roots'. She is ultimately bilingual to a fluent enough extent due to the long-term efforts of her adoptive parents over the course of her life, and this is a thing she became grateful for as an adult later on.

Unusual amongst those that have been reborn in this land, Duncan's new body... is an almost exact copy of his old one. Albeit, restored to it's prime; The wear-lines, wrinkles and liver spots having seemingly melted away to make room for the dense, compact but incredibly powerful kind of musculature that comes from a life of hard exertion, and not a gym— Enough to give him an imposing figure, even without the sheer bulk of a bodybuilder, and even while standing at a relatively average 5'8". His short cut of shock white hair, likewise, has been restored to it's more youthful brown, with bits of red that become more obvious in certain lighting, especially on his... actually quite handsome face in the early mornings or when he's too busy to shave. With the only real hint of his true age being the in the way he carries himself, or in the weathered gleam in his green eyes.
Curiously, many mementos of his old life have also carried over into this one as well; old battle scars— the most obvious being a long mark left by shrapnel going vertically along his left cheek— and faded tattoos on his shoulders and forearms still marking and marring his flesh as they did before. Whether this is simple coincidence or by the design of whoever brought them all here, he doesn't know for sure— but he isn't exactly to broken up about it, especially considering how dramatically those around him have changed in their 'rebirth'.
Stoic, but not in the way espoused by people with Greco-Roman statues as profile pictures on YouTube. More in that Duncan possesses a remarkable amount of control over himself; being only very rarely frightened nor angry with the people around him and possessing an uncanny amount of patience. This, however, does not mean that the man is some kind of impermeable rock devoid of humour and emotion, and if sufficiently prompted— or more alarmingly, sometimes when not.— release a devastatingly destructive barb or joke potent enough to cause a snort or spit-take in even the most hardened of hearts and in life, he was known to have a soft spot for kids; and wasn't even particularly shy about it either.
Of himself, however, he rarely speaks. Though he always listens when asked (and sometimes when not). The latter, because of all the friends he has outlived, far too many have gone prematurely, even after the guns fell silent. And the former? Well...
Throughout the Second World War and his time in Korea, Duncan has seen and come to know true evil in a way few others can and the very worst of what mankind is capable of doing to another. And is in no real rush to dump the kinds of things he's seen and done onto a younger audience, willing or not. And quite frankly, would probably prefer the rest not to know about that part of his life altogether.
...But would unquestioningly fight like the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's Ark to never see those evils repeated again.
Born in Northern Ontario in the February of 1925, Duncan's early life was... by no means a fairy tale, but also not particularly special for the time; the fifth of seven children but one of only two to survive a nasty outbreak of tuberculosis that took the rest of his siblings as well as his father. Which would lead to him finding employment at the age of ten at a local lumber mill to support his older sister— Abigail— and mother. The latter of whom would simply pack up her bags and leave without a word one day, leaving her two children to fend for themselves. Still, Abby and Duncan found a way to make it work, not least of all through help from their neighbours, a few trappers from a nearby reserve who'd been friends with his father, who were quite keen on making sure they at least wouldn't go hungry and a local priest who'd made sure the pair were educated— albeit, in French— and made sure they always had a good Christmas.
Then 1939, things... happened in Europe. And our boy Duncan, then aged fourteen, seeing how much more a soldier got paid than he did pushing brooms and sharpening saws at the mill, did something incredibly goddamn stupid—
He lied about his age. And joined the Army. Where for the next five years, he would man guns and fight fires during the Blitz, survive the disastrous raid on Dieppe, fight a brutal campaign up the Italian Peninsula, storm the beaches of Normandy and live the absolute carnage of the Scheldt. Sending the lion's share of his pay home to his sister and ending the war as a Sergeant at just 19; partly to his merit, partly because after a certain point, he'd become one of the most senior men left in his Company with four limbs and a pulse.
Seemed to impress somebody, however, as he was offered a full scholarship to the Royal Military College in Kingston afterward. Which he accepted and which would lead to him being deployed to Korea five years later as Lieutenant and second in command to a specialized assault company. Which of course, would lead Duncan to get into a whole new set of tough scrapes, one of which (a landmine north of Seoul) would land him in a hospital bed in Tokyo, where he'd meet Dr. Ryuuji Takeda— the son of a wealthy diplomat who'd served as a medic during the last war— with whom he'd form an unlikely, but enduring friendship that would last all the way into the modern day; writing eachother often and visiting whenever their schedules allowed. A tradition that carried on down to the families the two started an ocean apart.
Duncan, for his part, would go on to have a son with a nurse from Montreal he'd met during his first outing with the Army. Whom he would sadly outlive, losing her to breast cancer in '76, but would go on to raise his boy as best he could. Before finally retiring from The Service a decade later with a full pension to spend more time with the grandchildren his son very clumsily informed him were on the way. The eldest of which (his granddaughter) would deploy to Afghanistan and rather emphatically display that the propensity for kicking ass was very goddamn hereditary. His grandson, on the other hand, would go overseas to Japan to work as an English Teacher, staying with Ryuuji and his family in Hokkaido.
...Where he almost immediately married Ryuuji's granddaughter. The news of which was met with equal parts laughter and profanity because Duncan could almost swear that old sonuvabitch had planned that from the beginning. And quickly made plans to go visit.
Plans that would go... unfulfilled for nearly four years. As, by this point, Duncan was an old man. One who had fought two wars, been shot, stabbed, shelled, bombed and exposed to god-knows-what kind of chemicals over his long career; his insurance company flatly refused to go anywhere near an airplane. Something that left a very bitter taste in the old man's mouth, especially with the birth of his great grandson. And things would carry on as such until one day, he received a phonecall from his granddaughter-in-law—
Ryuuji, his best and, well, only friend he had left in the world was dying.
While he was trapped an ocean away, unable to even see his grandson, or his grandson's child because his insurance company was absolutely petrified at the idea of having to pay out on a policy as old as his— nevermind that at 99 years old, he didn't exactly have a lot of gas left in the tank anyhow.
So he snapped.
Made sure his will was in good order.
Then called up that snarky lady from the insurance company with a military lawyer present to goad her to the usual point of the conversation where she threatened to physically prevent him from leaving, at which point said lawyer cut in to threaten the mother of all lawsuits and inform her that the Department of National Defense would absolutely make the time for a retired Brigadier. Which prompted her to start swearing— which was honestly a mistake on her part— as Duncan had nearly a century of practice on her and was much better at it than she was.
That done, he bought a ticket. Flew himself out to Japan, spent the whole day with his great grandson— the younger 'Ryuuji'—, carried him to bed, tucked him in, told him a story and spent the rest of the evening drinking one last bottle of whiskey with the elder Ryuuji.
Two days later, Duncan was on a plane going home. Looking out the window and very much aware that one way or another, this would likely be the last time he ever got this kind of view of the Ocean. He supposed that he should should be sad, or at least melancholy... but he couldn't find it in himself to be. He had got to meet his own great grandson— see him happy, healthy and loved. See his best friend one last time. Got to finally try his granddaughter-in-law's cooking he'd heard so much about, and see her start bouncing up and down like a giddy schoolgirl when she learned she was pregnant again the morning before he left.
He was... fulfilled.
Which was why Duncan didn't kick up much of a fuss as the plane came to it's final, unfortunate destination— though he did summon what strength was left in his old bones to shield the girl sitting next to him from the glass of the window shattering next to them.
...Though even Duncan had to admit, what happened next was a a bit of a new one, even for him.

Skill Description: "A warrior does not grow old by accident." (Passive. +1 DEF, +2 RES)
Name: Jason "Jase" Stone Age: Biologic 19 / Mental: 63 Gender: Male Race: Half-Elf Appearance: This androgynous young man puts you in mind of a clever fox. He has round gray eyes that are like two silver coins. His thick, curly, dark hair is closed cropped. He has a graceful build. His skin is lightly tanned. He has nearly-nonexistent eyebrows, no beard (alopecia barbae), and narrow feet. His wardrobe is plain, and mostly dark colors.
Personality: Jase is reserved, his mind logical and organized, but he can be tactless - in his line of work, encounters with others tend to be very brief. Seldom seen without a book - they help occupy his mind while on stakeouts as it could be days before a target appears.
Tends to be suspicious of others, his mind constantly on tactical alert, quietly observing everything that takes place around him. It was better to plan, in his view, than to depend on capricious luck.
History: Grew up in the suburbs, an only child with few friends. He did very well in school, then unexpectly vanished after graduation to join the Army. A psychological examination in boot camp suggested a bit of moral flexability, and he found himself being trained as a sniper. He was loaned out to the CIA for wetwork, but returned to the service after an executive order banned government agencies from peforming them.
After leaving the service, he got approached by the Organization for some free-lance work, it took him all over the world, provided a lot of free time, and paid very well. As far as the moral aspects, he sometimes describes it as, "If I show up at your door, odds are you did something to bring me there."
Eventually, he decided it was time to retire and communicated that to the Organization, who begged him to perform one last job before he left, and to show the ropes to a newcomer. She was young and brash, and had a few skills, but he suspected she might have gotten orders to kill him. They got the job done - but received an unexpected drone attack, which they narrowly escaped. The Organization claimed to be surprised, and they both boarded the fight home - only for the plane to explode in mid-flight.

Skills Skill Name: Knife fighting Skill Description: the effective ability to use and throw a knife in melee combat. Other: He's very well-read.
Personality: Javal is haunted by feelings of guilt and failure of the plane crash. He had been at the yoke when the plane went down, and while he isn't truly sure if he could've averted the crash as well as a more experienced pilot could have, he feels responsible nonetheless. The path forward for &is obvious- if the rest of the crew and passengers came to this world, it was his duty to find and aid them. If not, he still felt obliged to do some good in this world, in hopes of atoning for the hundreds of lives that had been lost from the crash.
For now, he has shed his old name for a new one, to go with his new face. If he were to meet up with any of the crew- a task easier said than done considering they also probably had new bodies- perhaps he could reveal himself, but the passengers might prove forgiving if they knew of his unwitting role in bringing them here.
History: In his past life, the one now known as Javal was known by a different name. There wasn't much to it- he was born to a stable middle-class family, attended college, went to flight school, spent several years as a flight instructor, and eventually obtained the certifications and experience to get hired as an airline pilot.
Then, while serving as the First Officer of a long-haul flight, something went terribly, terribly wrong. The plane crashed, with no survivors, in an accident that would no doubt make headlines worldwide. He knew when it was going down that they weren't going to live through it. All he could do was give a few last words to the flight recorder before impact.
