New Hogwarts Faculty is Imminent!

In a surprising move that has sent ripples through the wizarding community, the Ministry of Magic has announced a major shakeup at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The esteemed institution, known for its rich history and tradition, will be undergoing a significant reorganization of its faculty in the upcoming school year.

The changes, which are set to take effect at the start of the term, have been described as a "strategic overhaul" aimed at enhancing the educational experience for students and addressing various administrative concerns. According to sources within the Ministry, the shakeup will involve a combination of appointments, reassignments, and new assignments for current staff.

Several new faculty members have been selected based on recommendations from previous professors, who have vouched for their expertise and ability to contribute to the school's academic excellence. These appointments are expected to bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to their respective fields.

Additionally, a number of current staff members have been retained through special assignments, reflecting their ongoing contributions and dedication to their roles. These educators will continue to play pivotal roles in maintaining continuity and stability within their departments.

Out of respect the Ministry has failed to divulge both name and method each new professors were recruited.

The school has not made a statement as of yet if this has anything to do with the investigation into the rumors surrounding events of the 2020 school year. Welcome Professors!

Welcome to a new and magical roleplay at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! We're diving into a fun story where you can create and play as a brand-new professor at Hogwarts. This is all about enjoying the world of magic and letting your creativity shine! Below is a full write-up of what is expected and what will be provided. I can promise here and now you are going to have a lot of fun if you join as I am going to do everything in my power to help make it so! Some positions have already been requested/claimed, so if you're interested, don’t hesitate to join in and bring your unique character to life!

Roleplay Guidelines & Host Expectations

This roleplay is designed for casual writers who are comfortable making regular posts that engage with others and help move the scene forward. Here’s what to expect:

• Regular Posting: Aim to contribute consistently to keep the story moving and engaging for everyone.
• Collaboration Posts: Working together on posts is encouraged! It’s a great way to create dynamic interactions and deepen character relationships.
• Personal Plots: Feel free to develop personal storylines for your character. Just ensure they’re inclusive and can involve others—this makes the roleplay more enjoyable for everyone.
• Overarching Plot: There will be a larger storyline that will likely involve most of the characters. However, this won’t be introduced right away. Expect it to kick off about halfway through the first school year at Hogwarts.

Roleplayer Expectations of Host

Here is a quick summary of what I will be doing as host and what people can expect from me. I will be available for the following as well as take on the following responsibilities

• Be a resource: I aim to answer / acknowledge any question sent to me within 12 to 24 hours. Should you have a question about the roleplay or the larger HP world we are using I want you to know that asking for help is always welcomed and encouraged. If you would prefer to ask via PM that is fine.
• Help Keep The Words Flowing: I am here to assist with writing character movements and assist with plot propelling. The basic form of this will be sending out a reminder PM if you haven't posted in sometime. Should you be unable to post or would like to step away from the roleplay that is fine. I will take on helping with either getting your character to a new scene if writers block has you locked. Or can assist with politely writing your character off.
• An army of NPCs!: Should you request it I am happy to take on a handful / a bunch of NPC's to help develop your characters scenes, personal plots, or just getting some words in and whatnot to keep your writing practice on the character sharp. These can be done via PM or if you want to set up a sidestory type 1x1 I am happy to do that. Additionally I can post in the actual main IC here should you want that.
• Conflict Resolutions: Should there be a disagreement or confusion I hope to be able to step in and deescalate / right the ship so everyone is still moving forward together. If something comes up and you need to speak to me via PM I encourage you to do so as soon as you think about it so I can listen and assist.

Professor of: (At this time I believe I have a number of holds on some positions. At the bottom you can see a list of all courses and who has a 'hold' on them. Some have said they are interested in a few so I will detail the rules below.

Biography: Provide details about your character’s life before, during, and after their time at Hogwarts. Focus on what’s generally known about them—whether it’s from the magical world’s rumor mill, news articles, or family stories. Do not include why they are deciding to become a teacher; we want to leave that part of the story for the roleplay itself.

Favorite Hogwarts Memory: Share a memorable moment from your character’s time as a student at Hogwarts. This should be a story that other characters might know or recall about your character.

Kaiden "Kai" Devarron
Age: 28

Hogwarts House: Slytherin

Professor of: Care of Magical Creatures

Biography: Born to a squib father and a witch mother, Kaiden was raised on a cattle farm in Ireland that played host to a small assortment of magical creatures that his mother had 'rescued' over the years, recovering creatures from the path of muggle expansion and helping keep many on a leash that would otherwise cause trouble in the area. Although Kaiden developed his magic at a normal age, he was enraptured by the way his father managed to interact with these creatures despite having no ability to use magic himself. Such actions were still dangerous, but it taught him the lesson that not every problem needed magic to solve it.

After receiving his letter for Hogwarts, he attended the school only during the times when it was actually in session, always returning to the farm in between semesters. He was an average student in most fields, displaying a bit of a talent in herbology and potions making, but his true passion and creativity were reserved for magical creatures. During his time at Hogwarts he submitted, and was denied, over thirty requests for an alternate type of pet, with the most common reason being cited as 'too dangerous to be permitted on the grounds'.

Aside from a fairly profitable business as a cattle farmer after taking over the operations from his father, Kaiden has been living the quiet life, not seeing much of a reason to go beyond the farm property save for twice a year when he meets up with a group of his friends from his graduating years at the school. Despite this seeming self-imposed isolation, Kaiden's scores and experience with magical creatures makes him a solid choice for the new professor of Care of Magical Creatures.

Favorite Hogwarts Memory: During his sixth year at Hogwarts, the class was to study a Kappa that had been brought in for the class and was supposedly kept docile by a potion. However, after a prank pulled by a classmate, the Kappa became irritated and attempted to drown the classmate that had earned its ire. Due to the proximity with the creature, the instructor was unable to get a clear shot with a stunning charm until Kaiden approached the creature with a cucumber sandwich he had apparently brought for lunch that day. The kappa let go of the student, allowing the situation to de-escalate and both student and creature were escorted from the class without further incident.

Professor Kennedy, Miles

Appearance

Standing at 5’5”, fairly short all things considered, Mr Kennedy wears his hair fairly long and wild, often seeming to be a halo framing his head than anything else, and normally bears a scruff of a mustache. Seagreen eyes seem to observe everything behind a pair of spectacles, Muggle made. He prefers to wear trousers and collared shirts, normally with suspenders. A cup of hot tea seems perpetual in Mr Kennedy’s hands.

Biography:

Miles Kennedy, born in Hong Kong to a pair of non-magical civil servants, would quickly find himself in England at age three. Among the more creative kids at his age, Miles possessed an imagination that far outstripped many others at his age - as well as a propensity for that imagination to make itself known in the real world. His parents chalked the issues here and there up to either bad luck, or chance, or a half dozen other ready excuses. Nevertheless, strange little things would happen here or there up to when he turned about eleven and a letter came in the mail. It spoke of scholarships and a new school and the talents of their son, all these good things, and soon enough Miles was off attending Hogwarts.

He proved apt at all the things he found interesting, poor at those he didn't. Potions grew to be a favorite for Miles, as well as Charms, while the young student's Divination and Transfiguration grades would be middling at best. Care for Magical Beasts was a strange one for Miles, making the boy miss his cat while absolutely hating the arm’s length nature of the course to the various creatures. He had a small enough group of friends while lacking for enemies, a common enough problem for Hufflepuffs. Miles would become notable enough as an unofficial tutor for Potions, often breaking curfew rules into the night as he went over the various problematic portions of different recipes. During the summers, Miles returned home to London, enjoying the great joys of the family cat, Noodle, while also becoming well and truly immersed in the Muggle world of life. He would also begin experimenting, however quietly, with Potions at home. His father took the interest and contemplation as his son loving chemistry, which in some ways it was, and took to buying several books on the matter as well as various glasswares to facilitate the new interest. Miles took it all in stride, finding all the various principles and methods useful enough to begin bringing the tomes to Hogwarts and using some of the instruments in Potions. Such would earn him the ire of the upper crust Slytherins, sure, but would also net near perfect grades for the young student. Miles figured that would be a good enough tradeoff, all things considered. He would also finally get his own pet, a patchwork cat rescued from a shelter named Lickspittle. When he finally graduated however, there were few job postings available for an aspiring student of potions to take and, for a brief time, and Miles lived at home while trying to find what to do.

He would disappear from the wizarding world for something of a decade, taking no jobs with the Ministry, any schools, or any wizard company. Rumors abound that Kennedy was in Afghanistan, Iraq, and even Syria with a Muggle group Doctors Without Borders, largely propagated by a number of Muggle-born students who have found similar names in that group's volunteer ranks and similar faces in various photos. What is known is that Miles Kennedy returned to England fairly recently, taking up a posting in the Ministry as an aid to Aurors before finding himself sent to Hogwarts.

Favorite Hogwarts Memory:

Mr Kennedy’s favorite memory would be his brewing of a potion of Liquid Luck as a Second Year, a task deemed by the Potions Master then to be nigh impossible, while solely using Muggle-made glassware and instrumentation. Done in the middle of the Hufflepuff Common Room, it absolutely baffled the more elitist students and proved a constant talking point for the students and, eventually, the living paintings. As such, the story almost gained a life of its own through the various retellings.

Antonio Cifaretto

Name: Antonio Cifaretto

Age: 32

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff

Professor of: Herbology

Biography: The Cifaretto family has a long history of participating in herbology, participating in many nature preservation efforts, participating in protests, and occasionally being an eco-terrorist to protect nature. This got his ancestors into much trouble with various muggle and wizard authorities. Although they had recently been out of trouble, a few family members still participated in unlawful protests. There is a rumour that the Cifaretto family is somehow connected to some criminal organization in Italy.

Antonio’s parents kept their noses clean. His father was a gardener, and his mother was a teacher of Herbology at Hogwarts. As a boy, Antonio was introduced to herbology and gardening, having quite a talent for carrying and identifying various flora. When he was the right age, he was brought to Hogwarts to further his education. He enjoyed Herbology and Defence Against The Dark Arts classes as a student. He also participated in many pranks involving placing mandrakes in students’ and professors' dorms.

After his time at Hogwarts, he became the school's groundskeeper, working for a few years before finally being given the job of Herbology professor after the last one retired. On occasion, Antonio will partake in various pranks by himself or with other students.

Favourite Hogwarts Memory: One of Antonio’s pranks included him and another student filling the Syltherian bathroom with Venomous Tentacula. Of course, everyone knew who did it, and Antonio and the other students were forced to move the tentacula out of the bathroom. And clean the washroom for the next couple of months.

That's fair. Was just wondering if that was the plan since ooc coordination / dialogue for character ideas seemed a little slow. I'm just excited for the game and want to talk about plans lol.

One thing I would recommend is taking a read through each characters sheet and jotting down a few sentences as far as your own characters opinion of them. I say this cause most teachers will at least have some basic knowledge of the others as I believe everyone will have technically attended Hogwarts with some overlapping years or year lol

Seraphima Evelynne Rose

Ravenclaw · Magical Theory · 5’7” · 24

Biography: Seraphima Evelynne Rose is the second born child of Atticus and Ramona Rose. She follows her brother Alric Darius Rose in birth order. The Roses are a family of pure-blood witches and wizards. Respectfully, they have been ordered in the House of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.

The Rose family is proud of their pure-blood ancestral background, in belief that any witch or wizard should be proud of their family lineage. However, they are not prude and snobby about it, unlike some pure-blood families. In fact, they are also not loyal to one House or the other like some pure-blood families, and they are very welcome about it.

Atticus Rose is the a Magical Theorist, well-known for his many publishings, articles and books on the subject. His writings have always been pure, simplistic, and easy to understand for the commoner. Ramona Rose used to write for Witches Vogue. However, after the death of her oldest child, Alric, her sense of fashion seemed, well, to say it politely, tend to be a bit off.

Ramona’s fashion, of course, was not the only thing a bit off about the Rose family. Their remaining child Seraphima (often times referred to as Little Swan) also seemed to have her own special qualities. The sympathetic chalked it up to her witnessing her own brother’s death. The rest simply assumed the girl a very odd duck, indeed.

She hardly had any friends as she much preferred books over actual conversation. She seemed dull and outright unagreeable especially in looks. (Someone had to support her mother’s outlandish fashion.) Although, she was on the Quidditch team as the Keeper, which she even surpassed her older brother in ability and her school marks were straight Os, she lacked a key ingredient with public accumulation. In fact, she tended to care more for the less intelligent (so to speak) such as other creatures, herbs included.

Although a loner, Seraphima never did seem downright lonely. That’s not to say she was completely happy all the time, but it seemed she had some secret friend only she knew about. It’s most likely because of this other witches and wizards poked fun at her. Like when she attended the Yule Ball without a date but kept a pleasant smile for the entirety of the event. Rumors flew around like magic spells for a good quarter of the semester, as if no one had anything more useful to gossip about!

Charmingly for Seraphima, she found herself following in her father’s footsteps, and all those years spent alone in her studies, coming up with her own practical theories, has helped the witch make quite a name for herself. Since graduating Hogwarts, she has published numerous articles and written a book or two about Magical Theory. She is currently in the process of writing her third. And her mother has since landed a new job as an editor for Knitter’s Own, guiding witches and wizards in casting spells for more eccentric, alternative styles that many have declared “witty, smart, and sharp.”

Favorite Hogwarts Memory: At the Yule Ball, Seraphima was downright depressed about having no one ask her to the ball. In fact, her mother had designed and mailed her dress to her! She felt quite lovely in it, but not until her secret crush Dorrien René Logion gave her a quaint smile and polite compliment did the depression lift. He may never have shown her any affection thereafter, but she has always cherished his reaction and is certain his future wife will be aware of her mother’s spells.

Speaking of students I am going to ask the group.

Would you prefer I create a bunch of NPC's and whatnot for everyone to use, or would you like to create some of your own.

I am thinking I will be available to help with student writing, and people can request I write a little bit here and there for them to have their professor interact with.

At any time you are of course allowed to create and write in a student doing this and that, but I know for some that can be a little annoying so if need be I can write for a bunch of students as well.

Let me know what you are comfortable doing and what you might want help with or enjoy writing together on as far as students.

My thought is I might sometimes post silly 'facts' about the goings on and whatnot An example below.

"Tonight no less than 8 students were outside their common rooms. Some with romantic hopes and others with mischievous goals Some thought being away from the castle would work and are making their way to the Quidditch pitch while another group hopes to find the greenhouse unsupervised and lacking a patrol.

If someone were to then write 'my professor headed towards the greenhouse for their evening patrol I would ping them and ask if they would want me to roleplay as the students or if they would like to.

Anyway just spit-balling here. I will be on for most of the evening if other people want to chat more about this and anything else they might have!

I think a mixture of players making up students for their own purposes - and to provide opportunities for shenanigans in other classes - is generally a good, though GM "intervention" with a more fleshed out student body would keep things more moving along than purely relying on the playerbase.

As for the student nonsense at the greenhouse, I'd be happy to have Mr Kennedy be on his evening rounds.

Since we're starting off with students getting caught at greenhouses and other tomfoolery, not with something like the start of the year, welcome-first-years and introduce-professors Great Hall speeches, I feel like I should ask how long our professors have been at the school or how long the school term has been going on for.

Unless of course we're catching students who actually live at Hogwarts and this is before the school year has actually started.
