I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.
Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss
Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)
Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.
Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.
RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.
As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.
RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.
And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.
Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.
Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...
Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.
Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.
When someone puts effort into their interest check, often they will put effort into the RP itself. A good check shows you are willing to put in that effort.
If it is a chore to finish a RP, shouldn't you call it quits before it gets to that point? If you aren't having fun and are just doing it to be a completionist it just seems weird to me. Sometimes the best thing you can to do is pull the plug and move on.
Why learn how to play the guitar? why learn how to draw? Why play ultra-difficult videogames? Why pursue a hobby you will never perfect when easier alternatives exist?
Because nothing worth doing comes easy.
For me, completing my Danganronpa RP was a very rewarding experience. But it's not something I recommend for everyone. I'm not sure I'll run another RP like that any time soon, not for four years anyway, haha!
I suppose around the 2 year mark there was a lot of drama and it was tempting to pull the plug because things were getting hard. But if I did that, I never would have been able to experience all the highs that came in the third and forth years of the RP. The energy levels are lower now that there's just a few players left, but it's really fun to see how excited they are. I still keep in touch with many of the old players, and I don't think they would remember me as fondly if I pulled the plug on the RP while they were still having fun.
I only bring up that some RPs are a chore because I think a lot of people think you just start an RP, have fun, and then the end just sort of happens. But the truth is most RPs that finish require some amount of sacrifice to get to the end. You need to compromise and work with others even if you are the GM. I think there are some people who will never complete an RP because they just want to follow the fun, and that's fine.
Something else I'd like to say that didn't get hammered home enough in my other post is that sometimes finishing an RP just isn't fun. You feel accomplished when it happens but it can be a drag to get that far. You're not always smiling and hugging your RP buddies, sometimes you're slouching in your chair, vodka in one hand and an empty mug in the other, thinking "Glad that's over!"
Peter’s explanations were less than reassuring, but it wasn’t like he made up the rules.
”Okay, so let’s see…” She couldn’t see Peter, so she just looked in the direction of the camera and held a finger to her lips. Every time she spoke, she pointed towards the camera. ”Let’s have two different commands for ensuring he follows an order. If I say something and he refuses, saying ‘that’s an order’ will cause him to do it. Alternatively, I can say ‘would you kindly’ to ensure he performs the task I’m about to give him.” Neither of those seemingly normal phrases were part of Kefira’s every day vocabulary. They would be good to use. ”And how about ‘knock it off ‘ to interrupt whatever he’s doing and ‘get down, sparky’ as an emergency sleep mode?” Now for the heavier ones. ”Don’t want this next one triggering accidentally. For self termination, let’s do one-four-one-one-three. And just to make sure, I have to lie to Adam afterwards for him to go through with it… and if I tell him the truth, he gets amnesia.” She wasn’t sure why she’d ever want to make Adam forget things, but it felt like a nice middle ground if she wanted to keep from having him kill himself. ”Oh, and if I say ‘janx’ at any time, it’ll cancel any commands he’s-”
She turned to Adam. He was pointing at a burnt building. One that had incredible significance to Kefira’s early life. It was an old laundry building, with an old fashion sign laying in front of the front door. The vinyl lettering had all burned away in the fire, and it wasn’t possible to tell what it had read. But Kefira knew what would have been on it.
She walked towards the building, just a few steps. At her feet was the remains of an old AIDA unit. Just the upper torso. It wasn’t anything like Adam. This one looked more like a crash test dummy. There was ash gathered up all around its form, and its charred fingers were wrapped around an old Jerry can.
”…Peter.” Kefira looked away from the camera. ”…Adam, why are my memories in your head?”
Just wanted to chime in and ask if anyone else has a good ass answer for
"what does success mean for me as a GM/RPer"
At some point I want to edit in a few of the answers for that to the OP.
Successes for me is completing my goals. Yes, that is finishing the RP, but that is a very long term goal. I also have lots of short terms goals that I strive to hit. Sometimes it's wrapping a player up in the RP's story, getting a reaction out of someone, acquiring a waifu ,or just hitting any kind of milestone. I don't really set out with these goals in mind, they just kind of pop up while I'm RPing. I guess Success for me is just ensuring these little goals actually appear to me. so long as I have an objective, I seem to be enjoying myself.
While everyone's pitching their helpful ideas, I guess I'll give my 2 cents as well.
A lot of RPs that I start end up coming to completion. Part of it is because I've been failing doing this for a long time, another part is because I have a lot of autism determination, and I'm not one to give up on an RP just because a few people leave, or if even my favorite people leave. My Danganronpa RP is the first RP I started on this forum about three months into my membership, and it's going to have a satisfying ending right at the 4 year mark. That's going to happen because I decided to keep running the RP when most of the players left, and was willing to wait out some long hiatuses to make things work. And of course because I have players that I am willing to put that kind of effort in for. They have been just as patient and tolerant as I have, and are a large part of why I'm willing to hold out for them. Hell, they had to kick my ass into gear a few times and they probably didn't even know it. But it does take effort.
But that's sort of the exception. Usually I run an RP for a year or two with an end in mind. And hey, sometimes even those fail. Doesn't matter too much to me though. I've got great memories of RPs that didn't finish, and friends I made along the way. Yea, completing an RP does give you that rush of accomplishment. Like hiking up a tall mountain and conquering it. But even if you don't conquer the mountain, the hike can be its own reward.
I'm having a really hard time choosing between rainy ocean and rainy clown. They're both such wildly different pieces. I think I'm going to give it to rainy ocean though. It's simple, but I like the execution, and it's the cleanest entry of the bunch.
”Yea, I guess it would be a little boring to just- hey what the-?!”
Being dropped onto the surface of mars but not really was a trip that Kefira would have appreciated to have been notified about before hand. This was probably something else she should have questioned the good doctor about, but who would have even predicted jumping into an AIDA’s mind was on the list of things to do today?
”Yea, I can hear you Peter. Just wait for my eyes to focus!” She spoke quickly, like a frightened person might. This type of technology was so far beyond Kefira’s experience and understanding that it was impossible to keep pretending that everything was cool. This wasn’t cool. Even with her acting skills, she couldn’t pretend this was cool. If she broke down like this during her time in the skull candy gang, M & M would tell her “you’re suppose to melt in our mouth, not in our hands!” before hitting her with a baseball bat probably.
”Commands? Like self destruct or action overrides? Something to back up his memories?” Kefira walked closer to the boxes. ”Is he even going to let us? He’s like, right here.” And he’s not dressed like a cowboy. Disappointing, ”And these are all commands? It looks like the three boxes in the lower right are occupied already. Seems to be some kind of code is written here…” She looked between the boxes and Adam. ”So this is your head? You must know what's inside here then, right?”
This was just too strange. Why couldn't it have just been a quick painless surgery?
