Bio

I'm a generally chill gremlin that can be kinda particular. I grew up with plenty of electronics and video games, mostly with games like Final Fantasy, Zelda, and StarCraft. I like to blend magic and technology in my writing, bringing fantasy into space and sci-fi.

They had returned to quite the commotion, apparently. She heard shouting as they approached, heard something about tools, and felt the pain of the tool-haver. From the sounds of it, he was a blacksmith who’d found a workshop in this abandoned place, only to have it destroyed. To have found a home in this new place, only to have it taken away. Oof, yeah. That was pretty rough.

Niara wasn’t exactly used to tense situations like this. Folks were generally happy to see her and grateful when she fixed their ailing plants, so she didn’t often have to settle arguments. As for what had happened, she’d have to learn more before making any judgements. In the meantime, though, Yingmei made a fine segway for her to come in with her own presentation. “Yes, we’ve managed to bring back a small sample of what we can grow in the field. Didn’t grow any wheat, since we’d need the mill.”

She hefted the bag from her shoulder onto the ground and opened it, revealing a small, small harvest of rice and tea. “The rice is a little different, since it’s not a proper rice paddie. We’ll have to see how it cooks. Maybe it’ll be more suitable for a porridge?” It had been interesting to learn that rice paddies were more work intensive than she thought. Perhaps she could have Yingmei teach her a bit about each of her plants. There was more to know, apparently. If she could get a sampler growing in a pot, she could experiment further. Perhaps she would like to learn a bit of earth magic in exchange?

Ooh, she had asked someone to look for a good vine or something, hadn’t she? Where was that young woman, now..?

Yumeiko’s human form came to a stop with a spring in her step, spinning once and taking a pose. “Velvet~, I’m a copy! Made with some kind of,” her hands gesture in front of her, unsure, “combination of her transformation magic and some weird wards? I don’t really understand it. She gave me everything I need to know to make a good meal decision, though!” The temporary magic copy of Yumeiko nodded. She’d also be able to carry a limited amount of data back to her, as well. “I should have enough juice for a few hours, supposing I don’t have to do anything strenuous.” Just running around, chatting, and remembering things wasn’t so demanding, after all.

The copy turned about as they went, taking a good look at her surroundings, “I’m supposed to take a good look at the city as we go, too. She wants to explore.”

“As for food, they’re both going to want something with meat, if possible. Oh! Actually, if we can find it,” the stand-in took a look around, though she had to wonder if she’d even be able to recognize that a restaurant here would serve, “Miyuki’s favorite is fried tofu. That might cheer her up.”
To expound, for some confounding reason, the volume at work has been increased as we come out of our peak season, instead of, oh, I dunno, maintained or decreased? Even a little?

Employment just keeps getting worse.
I'll get a reply up sometime in the next couple of days. Work's been exhausting.
That is, perhaps, one of my favorite candy flavors. Up there with green apple and grape.
Assuming it's a true delete function and not just an invis or move function, instead.

Niara continued to breath and sit, smiling under the compliments from the farm girl. “A priestess? Nooo, not me.” After a moment, she rolled over to take a knee and then up she went, to her feet. “Back on the Islands, I was one of the folks that would go around and treat people’s plants. There were some really particular specimens, I’m not ashamed to admit. Some of them needed constant adjustment. Or someone kept coming along behind me and undoing my work..”

Though she was on her feet, Niara still took a moment to stretch her back a little and breathe deeply. “whew, haven’t had mana sickness in a while. You’d think I’d be old enough to know better..” A moment more passed before she approached the rice, and squatted down in front of it, “hope the edits I made turned out well.”

As the other started to head back, Niara looked quickly between the plants and her departing cohort. It was grown, they should gather some! Quickly, she harvested a bit of the tea and more of the rice before following behind.

“Coming, coming~ the elf was careful as she hurried, to not bounce the rice too much and lose a bunch of grains. “I wonder if there’s a better place to plant the rice? We’ll have to see if this batch turned out. I’ve never worked with rice, myself, only learned about it..”

Miyuki’s lack of luster for the hunt gave the golden fox pause. She found herself stunned. Miyuki would settle for anything? Her voice sounded so flat and lackluster. Her demeanor was so defeated.

It made sense. She couldn’t run wild or express herself like she normally would, her. Miyuki had to be civil, and she was trying so hard. The effort was taking its toll on her, and of all things to make it worse,

These little cretins wasted their F O O D.

makasete kudasai..”

She took a deep breath as she turned to face North, and drew a leaf from somewhere on her person. Velvet would feel that familiar nausea intensify. “As she said, anything will do. Velvet, may I suggest you clear out quickly? Erm..” Yumeiko paused to consider how to say it in English, before giving up, “zenryoku wo tsukushimas.”

She slowly raised the leaf over her head, and her tails, all five of them out now, rose to point at it in unison. Slowly, the leaf started to light in her lavender foxfire, but it didn not burn. The magic flames enveloped the leaf like an aura of power, before the flames spread down along her arm and over her body. Slowly, a snout formed from her face, her body was covered in fur, but still she remained upright. A demi-human, a demi-fox, her most sacred form. She dropped the leaf, and as it fell through the lavender power, it transformed and spread over her body, covering her in her sacred priestess robes. Prayer beads rested around her neck.

Some part of her wanted to go with the two. An idea struck her, and she produced a small, humanoid paper cut-out from within her robes, tapping it with her foxfire and then tossing it aside. It would fly, despite her reckless flick, and find its way outside, where it would transform into Yumeiko's human form and go to find Velvet and Rebecca, who couldn't have gotten too far.

“Heey, wait for me! I had an idea~!” This copy of her was definitely not sacred.
