I'm tempted to bring in a character. Do goblins exist in this world?
Are they in conflict with the elves? Or do the elves just ignore them?
Hello. Not goblins, but orcs do exist in the world. More than half of the entire population of the orcs is concentrated in Dagorlad, while the rest spreads across the continent and has adapted to human society. There is no racial hatred between the elves and the orc, generally. But those who live in Dagorlad, like the Sarkazians alike, might still harbor negative views toward the elves whom often be seen as the invader that took their lands even before Serensiel's regime.
Appearance: Rezello stands at a height of 6'6", or roughly 198 cm.
Bio: Rezello was born in the city of Scheel, along the southern edge of the Leize river in the northern frontier of Westernant. The second son of one of the families within the Fulsteel lineage of House Ashton, Rezello was chosen as a child to be trained as a knight of the Sten Corps - a tradition within House Ashton that would have fallen upon his elder brother, had he not been a sickly child incapable of taking on that responsibility.
Through their childhood and into their teenage years, Rezello and twelve other sons of House Ashton endured rigorous physical training and education, preparing them for the duty of guarding the city against threats both known and potential; the former from the untamed wilderness to the south, and the latter from the tainted lands to the north, across the waters of the river that it had been built along.
On the eve of his seventeenth birthday, Rezello and the other knights-in-training were armed and sent into the wilderness to prove their capabilities. Each was tasked with hunting and slaying a great beast before returning with a trophy from its carcass to prove their victory; within the span of a week, Rezello tracked and defeated his target, a giant boar. Returning to the outskirts of the city, he reunited with three other trainees who had completed their mission, awaiting the return of the others.
Once the thirteen were all together again, they headed into the city with their trophies, only to find it seemingly abandoned. Leaving behind the proof of their hunt, they searched Scheel for an indication of where their people had gone, but found nothing. Everything seemed to point to a single conclusion: at some point, while they were outside the city, everyone had simply vanished.
The eldest among them, the first to have returned from his hunt and de-facto leader of the thirteen, was the first to speak, declaring that without people to defend, the Sten Corps had no purpose. They had all earned their knighthood for naught, and on his authority he disbanded their order. Taking up his sword, he left the city, heading south. The remaining twelve soon followed suit, each going their separate ways.
Rezello, dissatisfied with merely abandoning the city to its fate, set out in an attempt to find answers; if none could be found within Scheel, he would simply have to find them elsewhere. There had to have been a time when something at least similar had happened somewhere else, he just had to find a record or sign of it.
Early in his newfound quest, while searching ruins not far from Scheel, he discovered a broken mask within the top floor of an abandoned wizard's tower. Holding it up in the limited light that shone through the tower's window-slits, he suddenly felt compelled to don it; upon returning to his senses, he found it fused to his face. With it came a newfound sense of power, along with a voice he did not recognize; it, however, claimed to recognize him.
Ten years have passed since Rezello first set out on his journey, and though he has learned much in his pursuit of knowledge, the answers he truly seeks continue to elude him. With his list of potential leads growing thin, he could not help himself when he learned of Vesemir Barandir's planned journey to Nuria. He set out to join the expedition immediately, refusing to let what may be his sole opportunity to pursue answers in the Land of Twilight slip by.
Passives: Steeled Blood: The men and women of the Fulsteel lineage inherited the tall stature and robust physique of their progenitor, warrior adventurer Redmond Ashton, granting them enhanced strength and endurance.
Heavy Weapons Specialist: Though trained in all manner of weapons as part of his knighthood, Rezello is especially adept with large two-handed weapons such as halberds, warhammers, and greatswords that make the most of his strength.
Spells: Armory: Grants access to a small pocket dimension, allowing Rezello to swap out between different weapons he has collected. Only mundane weapons can be used with this spell; those that have been enchanted, made using magic materials, divinely forged, or otherwise enhanced beyond purely physical means cannot be stored.
Electric Shell: Emits a surge of lightning magic through the metal in Rezello's armor and weapons, electrifying those in contact with him or struck by his melee attacks. Consumes magic energy slowly while idle and rapidly while affecting a target. Ineffective if the target does not normally conduct electricity.
Hold Ground: Channels earth magic through Rezello's legs and into the ground beneath, anchoring him in place and bracing his body against attempts to move him. Energy consumption is proportional to the amount of force resisted.
Conjure Sparks: Produces a small flame, too weak to be used offensively but capable of igniting flammable objects, maintaining warmth, or providing light. Multiple sparks can be combined to increase the size of the flame, but not its power.
Mundane Skills: Survivalist: At a bare minimum, basic survival skills were expected of all members of the Sten Corps, as defending the city often required them to track beasts and monstrosities through the untamed forests that lie beyond its borders.
Equipment Maintenance: Though the Sten Corps styled itself as a proper order of knights, and were recognized as such within Scheel, in truth they were little more than particularly well-equipped guards. Without elements such as the page and the squire to perform tasks like maintaining equipment, it fell upon the knights to do so, either by hiring servants or learning to do it themselves. Rezello chose the latter.
Equipment: Fulsteel Spadone: A long, thin two-handed sword. Forged in Scheel as a token of his entry into knighthood from a steel alloy denser than those typically used in swordsmithing. Rezello's preferred weapon.
Weapons of the Armory: Rezello's Armory spell currently contains a messer, a pair of long daggers, a pollaxe, a bec de corbin, and a morningstar.
Sten Corps Armor: Blackened armor, consisting of a mix of plate and mail; pauldrons, gauntlets, half-plate rerebraces and greaves protect the limbs, while the torso is covered by a gambeson, hauberk and green-clothed brigandine. A helmet would also normally be worn, but does not fit over Rezello's mask.
Mask of the Tower: A cursed mask of unusual design, fused to Rezello's face. Rigid, with a leathery texture; the jaw is articulated and can move with Rezello's mouth. A spirit trapped within grants him his magic abilities and claims to be familiar with the Ashton bloodline.
Your character looks good, and I like the integration into the world itself. Accepted.
The latter, it's a fancy term to describe "magical blacksmith". Two popular franchises that feature them regularly are Dungeons & Dragons and Final Fantasy, perhaps under different terms but the core principle remains the same
For your convenience, here's a link to the D&D version: Link.
Ah yes, though I never play DND or Final fantasy I think I can finally get the gist of it. My only concern is I am kinda new as a GM and in the process of learning. So if you don't mind me being clumsy with my ruling, and if I somewhat didn't cater to your character's uniqueness, I hope you can pardon me.
This doth look dope, Mas Bagus. I'm pinning my interest here.
I've been wanting to play a young genius prodigy sort of character, like Mozart, but with all things artificering (basically magical crafting).
Welcome! Honestly, the term artificering is new to me and I have no idea how it will be played out in the RP. Does it mean your character combines two magic spells into another incarnation, or they craft items with magical properties?
Hey there. This looks interesting to me. I'm into the orc archetype, but more of the 'civilized' type. How's the orc civilization doing in this world in general? Depending on the setting, I can choose either a banished orc who intermingled with humans more or a veteran soldier turned adventurer. But of course, I can be flexible beyond it if needed.
Greetings. I used to have an orc character in one of these RP and he is indeed a civilized guy. My co Writer too used to have a female orc who worked as the King's Righ-Hand woman
The orcs are under the Djinn classification that has abandoned their mystical and malevolent nature but still retain their superior physical prowess. They are rare, but most of them are no strangers to human-like lifestyles.
Hello, i am interested. brand new to this site and not sure how it all works yet- but i have a human character in mind I would like to use but she has a hoard of artifacts she regularly uses so i would like to know some guidelines regarding artifacts if thats okay
I'd say that depends on the artifacts she has. In order for it to be balanced, we might need to put the effect of the artifacts she regularly uses into her skillset instead. It is actually easier if I can see the prototype of your CS so I can get a clearer picture of how you want your character to be.
@Vlad Tepes Hello Vlad. I understand your position.
It's cool, If not on this occasion then there will still be next time. I thank you for your time here, and wish you the best for you and your projects too.
Name : █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ The Gray Flame Species : Elf Gender : Male Age : 255 Height : 188 Mana Pool Type : Wellspring
Real name unknown, place of birth unknown, rumored to be affiliated with the Varenheim Government, all you can find after digging for information about him is a veteran who had retired from Varenheim special forces a century ago. A man with a certain degree of fame in the Adventurers community, it is confirmed that he is one of the few people who have wandered into The Land of Twilight and returned on multiple occasions.
Save for the unnervingly simple white mask, the Gray Flame is an ordinary-looking elven man with white hair and fair skin. His general attire consists of dark green trousers with a brown vest, white shirt, and leather belts. He wears combat boots and a grey traveling cloak with a hood.
The Gray Flame was one of the first persons Vesemir Barandir hired for his whimsical adventure. Recommended by the head of the Alkautsar Branch, the Gray Flame is not only a reputable adventurer with myriads of experience regarding The Land of Twilight, but he has also proven to be very attentive and patient with the old archeologist's ramblings.
Traits and spells:
-Proficiency with bow and sword(passive) The Gray Flame is an experienced combatant for both close encounters and ranged skirmishes.
-Deep theoretical understanding of Fire magic (passive) Besides granting exactly what it says on the tin, the mastery grants the Gray Flame natural resistance against fire-based magic and prevents him from taking damage from his own spells. Additionally, the understanding allows him to gradually suppress the flow of fire-based magic of a person and object he touches.
-Powershot Imbues a single arrow with arcane power, allowing it to be shot with great velocity and power. Armor Piercing. The Gray Flame has to have his bow equipped to use this ability. Has 1 turn cooldown
-Vermillion Sunrise Channels into and coats his sword with Fire Magic. The Gray Flame can launch up to four waves of flame from his sword and grants additional bonus damage to his melee attack. It has 2 turns cooldown. The Gray Flame has to have his sword equipped to use this ability
-Arcane Shield Applies a translucent fire-resistant barrier on the friendly unit he touches, granting them the same protections he enjoys from his second passive. Lasts 3 turns, and can apply to up to 2 targets. Has 3 turns cooldown.
-Star Shower Bombards the area in 50 meters around The Gray Flame with fiery crystalline shards from the sky. The spell lasts for 2 turns. The falling crystals can be avoided by taking shelter under a solid object or with a very strong shield. Has 3 days of cooldown.
Equipment -Longbow Ordinary longbow made of hickory wood. -Double-Edged longsword An Eastern Jian sword with a slightly elongated handle and thicker blade. Sheathed in a white leather sheath. -A quiver containing 25 arrows -Medium-sized backpack -A silver compass -A white mask. Adorned with nothing, nor symbolize anything other than a piece of protective gear to hide one's identity.
@Louise Ironside Welcome! Your character is quite far away from home. Why would the emperor of the Not-Japan let his best champion wander off in a foreign land if I may ask?
Ahh! Perfect! Sorry I had to have you bring the info sooner, but it greatly helped, and I've aligned my character ironically enough to what you have haha.
Okie! Here's the CS for review. The bio isn't that long and I apologize. Lemme know if i need to change anything
Name: Roxas
Species: Elf
Age: 173
Gender: Female
Outfit: Usually wears trousers, tunic, belt and capelet for easier travel.
Passives:
Longbow: Has been trained to create, and shoot her own longbow; is considered a marksmen with it.
Shortsword: Knows how to wield and properly care for a shortsword.
Avians: Has an natural affinity to befriend most birds.
Spells:
Renew: A spell of light to heal minor injuries. It takes few seconds to cast and heals near instant.
Barrier: A spell to create a dome for defensive means. It depletes mana fast, so used as a last resort or in dire circumstances.
Marksman: A buff to hone in on a target and make her arrows hit them without fail. Limited to sight or cover.
Mundane Skills:
Cooking: Can cook most elven and human dishes. Food is described as better than most.
Medical: Knowns some basic medical procedures like wrapping up wounds or even sewing them up if needed. Can create basic salves to help with pain.
Survival: Has most survival skills; building a fire, a small hut, tracking, figuring out North, etc.
Equipment:
Longbow: her own creation, well loved. A beautiful white wood with carved intricacies. Arrows for said bow are either created or bought.
Quiver: Her quiver is a darker genuine leather, that rests at her hip and holds her arrows, has a few inner sections to keep certain arrows away from each other; poison, radiant, etc.
Shortsword: bought it from a vendor; it is high quality steel and expertly made. It usually sits at the small or her back.
Bag: carries a small pack that holds all her every day travel items; rations, tools, medical items, etc. Carries an dagger incase her shortsword is no longer a means.
Bio: Roxas lived in Alkaustar until she turned around 100. After that, she grew a little tired of the mundane and repetitive life. She wanted to see more of the world. She wandered around, until she saw Vesemir Barandir's pamphlet. Into the Land of the Twilight, the land that once belonged to her people. She didn't know exactly her elven creation, but she knew it was.. big. Perhaps going to Nuria will tell her more about her heritage. Her curiosity became piqued and she made her way to where recruits for the journey would gather.
Other: Finds peace in music; as thus, she leaned to play the flute; to the degree of making her own to play.
There is a merit in being simple and straightforward and I like that, though if I am allowed to say, she seems a bit too underpowered, no? As far as the administration is concerned, all looks good. Narratively, looks good too, and workable. I am sure we can get to now her a lot better in OOC and IC.
My flagship character is a female elf too, but she is thrice younger than her. An archer too... but her theme is the opposite of Roxas'.
@Randomguy@Visyn@Vlad Tepes@Valkon I think now is the good time to open the invitation to the discord server, though the RP could use two more players before I can start writing the OOC/IC thread, it wouldn't hurt to have a place for a quick OOC madness in discord. Also, it is painful for me to open the forum on my mobile phone, let alone make a post.
Can you give a little more info on the Elves? I wanna make an elf! Like, age and maybe the life they kind of have right now; like scattered from each other or what elves would typically be seen doing.
Trying to get an idea of how i want to structure her and having a tiny bit of difficulty since we don't know how elves age, or what really is happening with them other than they think people going to find their homeland are suiciders (lol).
Ah this is a good question and I am sorry I wasn't being specific enough in the OP. I thought this was something we usually discuss at our Discord.
But I will inform you here.
Elves were angels once, which you probably already heard.
The main theme of their existence in this world is they were once the servant who reminded the creator of the potential of Humans being the agents of destruction on a newly created earth, in which the creator simply dismissed them by saying He knows what He is doing for his Grand Plan.
Unsatisfied with that answer, some angels descended to the earth, unwilling to let the world they helped create be ruined by mankind. Before they could do anything, however, The Creator censured their unauthorized action, yet he didn't recall them back to the haven, and cast upon them mortality like the humans.
They got what they wanted, but with lots of conditions, one most important was that They would live alongside mankind, but must not intervene, nor hinder mankind's progress as long as it didn't jeopardize the (now elves') existence. They were also discouraged from spreading the "truth of creation" to mankind, and would only guide with example.
1700 ago. An Elven queen named Serensiel broke one of those conditions. Fed up by humanity's ceaseless warmongering, she started punitive military measures to keep humans "back in line" that evolved into a tyrannical regime intending to bring all humans under her ironclad rule. She retained her position for several decades until the human alliance formed in (now) Westernant waged war against Serensiel for their freedom. It was at that moment Serensiel suddenly had her power taken back by Divine intervention, allowing mankind to dispense humiliating justice toward the terrible queen.
Nobody knows what exactly happened afterward. The human forces returned to their territory after signing up peace treaty with the elves, which both parties never disclosed to the public until this day. The elves considered Serensiel's regime as their darkest history they must never look back. The loathe was so strong that shortly after the war, they started to relocate from the Land of Twilight and abandon the region, not even bothering to cleanse the land or bring with them their possessions from the previous regime.
TLDR: Serensiel was their Sauron, and The Land of Twilight was their Chornobyl.
The elves reach adulthood similar to humans but remain infertile until the age of 110. Their average lifespan is 600 years. Some were born with powers, but many others were not, or needed to learn their power. They have a neutral view regarding magic with a slight exception toward destructive kinds like fire magic. Healing powers are more accepted socially.
Their towns and villages, even in the capital city like Alkautsar can be described as idyllic, almost boring even. They enjoy finer things but tend to not be showy about it. Functionally and aesthetic are equally important. They also are not completely withdrawn from mortal affairs. They have an economic system, they trade, they import, and export and they have some mundane industries going.
They seem oddly religious but never preach any sort of commandments or institutionalized religion. However if one observes them closely, they seem to have their own holy scriptures that may or may not be written, but all elves seem to know that.
These days, not every elf however knows their true heavenly origin, or deeply ponders about it.
The elves are generally inclined toward good morality. Though the concept of what "good" truly is might be debatable and not universally accepted, they at least fit the standard of goodness accepted in any other civilized society.
Their political outlook could be described as neutral... boring, with some anti-war attitude when their opinion was being asked regarding an ongoing conflict between human nations.
Some elves do migrate to human nations.
Elves cannot interbreed with other races. But intermarriage is not unheard of.
Please don't hesitate to Let me know if there is something more you want to know.
