"THIS HELPS."

A piece of candy loudly rolled across the table and Malachi's gaze had followed its every movement as it made its way to the human. His gaze did shift to Enstille briefly. He's still so bizarre.

"I want to go home."

Malachi stared at Jun and sighed. Though his expression remained nonchalant and he had initially remained silent, his mind had not.

"Please let me go." His eyes remained on the young man.

"I-if this week proved anything, it's that you need someone to replace me. Someone who can actually do what you want them to do. You know, someone competent and has time to w……………………………………………… adventure?"

The sound of Zion and the blonde woman's voices filled the house as they entered. Malachi's glance shifted upon Enstille as he meticulously plucked onions from the eggs. After a brief moment of contemplation, he leaned in slightly to Jun and spoke with sincerity, "Jun, I must admit that I haven't been successful in helping you comprehend the intricacies of our situation... and for that, I apologize," His voice, though genuine, was low enough for only him to hear, "If you would grant me a chance, I'd be grateful for the opportunity to address your concerns and truly listen to you. I want to ensure you fully understand what is transpiring here before you make any hasty decisions. If, after our discussion, you still wish to escape, I will respect your choice... But for now, would you accompany me for a stroll?"

“Ahhhhh! What a wonderful day!”

Charlotte smiled to herself as she set up the beach chair in the sand, her floral dress billowing in the breeze behind her. The feeling of warm sand tickling her toes and the tune of the steel drums reaching her ears all reminded her of being in the tropics of Veirmont. She anchored an umbrella firmly into the sand behind her chair and set down her books. Then she raised her gaze to look over at her companions.

Devan diligently arranged a blanket nearby. His eyes evaded direct contact, his shoulders slightly tense. The choice of Lorenzo's beachwear had evidently affected him, leaving him visibly unsettled and less forthcoming. Though concerned, Charlotte hoped that the beautiful beach and fun atmosphere would gradually uplift his spirits.

Olivia had been tasked with simply carrying the picnic basket of snacks. She and Olivia had woken up rather early to prepare a few snacks with Gilbert in the morning, even going as far as to prepare some homemade pudding to surprise Kazumin with when he arrived, which would be any moment now.

"All we need is the palm trees and I could perhaps envision we're home in Veirmont again." Charlotte commented to Lorenzo, though she had been rather careful to look him directly in the eyes. Though she supposed that she had no room to talk, the bathing suit she had ended up wearing was nothing like she had ever adorned before. Delilah, ever the instigator, had insisted she goes out of her comfort zone and bare her long legs. Charlotte had never quite understood the fascination with covering up the human body that Caesonia had, but it still had been rather surprising to hear Edin's decree about the swimsuit laws. Lorenzo had clearly taken full advantage of such, and she supposed to some degree she had as well.

After living a life where each and every move had been dictated by her mother, it had been jarring to have such freedom in her choices. However, she knew she wouldn't regret it. The feeling of the warm sun on her skin would be well worth it.

Charlotte continued on to unfold a few beach chairs for the others. Satisfied with her task, she allowed herself a moment of respite, gazing out at the mesmerizing expanse of the sea stretching before her. The waves shimmered under the warm caress of sunlight, mirroring the vastness of the sky above. It was a sight that never failed to warm her soul. She couldn't help but reminisce about the days when her father would join her on carefree dashes toward the water's edge, diving headlong into the waves. Her reverie was interrupted by the sight of her new auburn-haired friend in her vision, Olivia.

Charlotte's gaze shifted, meeting Olivia's eyes, her voice infused with warmth and sincerity. "...Olivia, my offer still stands," She affirmed. "But I'd like to relax here before we embark on our mermaid adventures. Can't go without Kazumin anyhow."

With her books cradled in her arms once more, Charlotte settled into her lounge chair. As she leisurely flipped through the pages, a pen in her hand would occasionally dance across the surface of a small notebook she had out as well.

A sudden gust of wind lifted Phia's pink hair, causing her to turn around and gaze in astonishment. Colossal wings swept through the air as the roc descended downward, a whirlwind of dust and leaves sent in a frenzy through the air with movement. Through the haze, the fairy caught glimpses of the roc's immense form. The air became charged as colossal wings sliced through the atmosphere. The ground quivered beneath Phia's feet, and a surge of terror paralyzed her, leaving her unable to move.

As the menacing shadow loomed over her, the roc's wide maw descended closer, threatening to engulf her. Phia's body trembled with fear, her instinct urging her to escape. In that critical moment, she felt a forceful push that sent her sprawling onto the ground with a resounding "oof!" Phia hadn't needed to see who pushed her to know how it had been. Phia scrambled up on her palms and looked over. At first, all she saw was the Roc's shut beak and she gripped her head. Somehow it felt her life had flashed before her eyes more than it had when she thought she had been about to die. Her mind started to reel with flashes of horrifying images, flooding her thoughts like fragments of a shattered nightmare. Through the sudden sensory overload, she suddenly screamed.

"Menzaaaiii!!"

Phia's voice pierced the air, a desperate cry that resonated through the surroundings. Fueled by adrenaline, she suddenly fluttered upward, her eyes scanning for Menzai's figure. Relief washed over her when she spotted him flung to the side. With urgency, she flew toward him, her face etched with panic. She practically jarringly crash-landed onto her knees, scraping them up in the dirt as she came to a halt beside him. In a rare occurrence for Phia, tears brimmed in her eyes at the sight of the blood pooling. She paid no mind to it and she pulled Menzai's head onto her lap and then placed her hands on the remnants of his arm to heal the skin. Her hands began to glow with white light, illuminating the bloody duo into view.

Her gaze darted anxiously around the area, searching for any trace of his severed arm. Sighing with resignation, she shifted her attention back to Menzai's face. "...It's going to be okay Menzai." Phia told him softly, her voice choking up with emotion. "I'm going to protect you this time.." She clenched her jaw as the ground began to suddenly shake. Phia glanced over her shoulder at the others in time to watch as Cyrus and Viola had been attacking the giant bird. Then, all of a sudden, it started to sink out of view into the ground. At that moment, an oversized hand of dirt grabbed the roc and began to squeeze it in its grasp. Phia had stared on with shock. She hadn't realized the extent of the human's powers and what they were already capable of so early on.

Overhearing Darius's voice, Phia longed to rush to her friends' aid, but she knew she had to prioritize completing Menzai's healing first. With determination, she refocused her attention on him, blocking out the chaos unfolding around them. It hadn't seemed like Menzai was conscious, but in the case he regained it, she wanted to try to ease him. Carefully, she freed one hand and brought it to his face, her fingertips tracing a gentle path down his cheek. She would return her fingers back to the beginning of their trail to repeat the action again once they reached his jawline. She began to hum quietly to him a soft melody that had once flowed from his mother's lips while she cooked, years ago.

The melodious songs of birds filled the air, creating a symphony of nature's delight that juxtaposed the man-made sounds of the string quartet and harp as the musicians performed. The royal gardens had gradually come alive with the presence of noblemen and women. An array of long white-clothed tables could be found all about the gardens, adorned with an enticing spread of desserts and tea treats. Cakes, pastries, and sandwiches beckoned the taste buds of all, while a mesmerizing chocolate fountain stood front and center with its cascading richness. Scattered all about as well were chairs, many accompanied by soft pillows and cushions, providing comfortable spots for people to gather and mingle as they embraced the warmth of the afternoon sun that showered its radiant glow upon all in attendance.

Elegant women adorned themselves with large sunhats adorned with delicate ribbons, casting a graceful shadow over their faces. Some even carried parasols. However, the garden also offered shaded areas, providing refuge for those seeking respite from the sun's intensity. The attire of the guests exuded a sense of refined elegance, with most donning the quintessential Caesonian tea wear. The women's attire consisted of frilly and feminine dresses, while the men showcased luxurious suits.

Meticulously trimmed hedges bordered the gardens, defining the perimeter with their lush greenery. Meandering stone paths crisscrossed the ground, guiding visitors toward a magnificent water fountain. Its gentle splashes provided a soothing backdrop to the lively conversations and laughter that filled the gathering. Adjacent to the fountain, a string quartet of well-dressed and highly esteemed musicians accompanied by a harpist played a beautiful and relaxing tune, enchanting the atmosphere.

Proudly standing near the fountain were statues commemorating King Edin and his esteemed ancestors, warmly welcoming their guests to the private event.

The Sorian beaches, while not as overtly tropical as their counterparts in Veirmont, still managed to evoke a reminiscent tropical vibe among Caesonians. The enchanting sound of steel drums resonated through the air, emanating from the talented band positioned on the nearby stage. As the rhythmic beats was heard all throughout the shoreline, an irresistible invitation danced on the breeze, enticing beachgoers to sway their hips in sync with the infectious melody.

The clear turquoise waves gently lapped against the soft sandy shore, inviting people of all ages to dive in and experience the refreshing respite. Lifeguards stood by up high in elevated chairs, ensuring the safety of the many swimmers in the sectioned-off area.

Meanwhile, the aroma of treats wafted through the air. Food carts lined the beach as many looking to make a quick coin tried their luck, offering a delightful assortment of snacks to appease any craving. From savory delights like crispy chips to sweet temptations such as tropical fruit smoothies and ice cream, the variety of culinary delights catered to every palate, ensuring that no beachgoer went hungry.

Anticipation was also growing for the thrilling boat racing event set to take place later in the afternoon. Down by the dock, there were a few canoes being set in the water, ready to accommodate teams of racers when the time came for it.

Children could be seen building sandcastles and running about the sand, their gleeful shouts blending harmoniously with the sounds of crashing waves and cheerful chatter. Sunbathers lounged on colorful beach towels, basking in the warm caress of the sun.

When it came to beachwear, it varied greatly following the implementation of the new, remarkably liberal rule. Many folks still stuck to conservative wear such as form-fitting water suits and long flowing dresses that women didn't mind getting wet as that was what they were used to. However, there were also quite a few daring to bare some skin with swimsuits revealing legs, arms, and even tummies in some instances. These types of swimsuits were usually associated with the most progressive Varian Kingdom, but for whatever reason, King Edin had decided to change the rules this season.

Good day to all of Sorian! It is a beautiful day with many wondrous events and experiences to await you.

Time: Late night
Location: Outside of unknown location
Attire: Dress, Long, black hooded cloak
Mention: @Alivefalling Marek @Rodiak Zarai

"Hello..."

The determined princess stood outside the door, concealed in her cloak, her pale blonde locks barely visible in the dim light. For the past fifteen minutes, she had been relentlessly pounding on the door, hoping to gain the attention of its occupant. "Marek, come on I know you're in there." She whisper-hissed through gritted teeth at the door, her voice etched with frustration. Growing restless, she stomped her feet impatiently, the sound echoing as the crickets chirped around her. Folding her arms in a final display of defiance, she fixated her gaze on the unyielding door.

"...I can't believe I am getting ignored... Not so different than my father, are you?"

At this point, the least she wanted to find out was what happened to her sweet Zarai. Though she had been in a few catfights at a bar before and she knew it wasn't her forte, she still wanted to pummel the idiot.

Just as her patience began to wane, a glimmer of hope emerged as the door creaked open slightly, revealing only a single eye peering through the narrow gap. The cloaked woman's heart skipped a beat, her anticipation rising, but her hopes were swiftly dashed as a voice, tinged with a dismissive tone, reached her ears, "...Princess. Come back another night."

"..." Anastasia's eyes narrowed as she considered this situation. "No. Let me in now. As the princess of Caesonia, I demand-" Before she could finish her firm statement, the door abruptly slammed shut, shutting her off mid-sentence.

Anastasia glared for only a moment more before she gave the door a solid kick. Breathing heavily, she took a step back, her folded arms signaling her resignation. She debated trying to break the door down but decided against it ultimately as she turned to glance at the guards behind her. They were staring soundlessly.

"What are your names again?"

"Harold."
"Ernest."

"Thanks for coming to protect me... " She began with a smile, then asked, her arms moving behind her back, "Sooo...Can I buy you boys some drinks?"

They looked at each other and then ultimately shook their heads in unison. Anastasia was disappointed, but not surprised. The guards Wulfric chose for her were always boring.

"... Bummer. Alright." She shrugged and waved them on with her, "Let's go home."

The Stranger & The Murderer

In the depths of the moonlit night, a cloaked figure emerged from the shadows, their presence concealed in mystery. Soft, careful footsteps echoed through the cold stone corridors of the dungeon, their destination clear. As they approached, the flickering torchlight revealed the outline of a guard stationed nearby, alert and watchful.

Without uttering a word, the figure extended a delicate and feminine hand, holding a small, heavy sack. The guard's eyes widened with recognition, a glint of anticipation shining within them. It was not the first time this clandestine exchange had taken place. The sack exchanged hands, and the guard's palm revealed the glistening of coins.

Their unspoken agreement complete, the guard silently motioned for the cloaked figure to follow, leading them further into the depths of the dungeon. Their journey led them to a dimly lit cell, where a man with haunted eyes and weary demeanor awaited his fate.

The man's appearance was marked by disheveled dark hair, matted with grime, and a scruffy graying beard that failed to hide the lines of guilt etched on his face. His clothes, once fine and dignified, now hung in tatters, a reflection of his fallen status. There was a certain darkness in his gaze, a chilling reminder of the crimes that stained his hands.

As the cloaked figure approached the iron bars with purpose, their eyes locked onto the man, searching for signs of desperation. Their eyes met, and a silent understanding passed between them.

"Your crimes are damning," the soft voice of a woman, a gentle yet commanding whisper. "You face a sentence that awaits no reprieve." Her words hung in the air, the weight of the impending doom palpable.

But then, with a silver tongue that dripped with promises, she continued, "Yet, I hold the key to a different path, a chance at freedom. A purpose that can grant you a new life, away from this cell and the shadows that consume you."

Curiosity flickered in the man's eyes, mingling with apprehension and a flicker of hope. He dared to listen, to consider the enigmatic offer presented before him.

"I can offer you a chance beyond these walls," she pressed on, her voice caressing his ears like a siren's call. "A life where you'll escape the terrible fate the crown has promised you. All I ask in return is your loyalty and unwavering dedication to the cause that I represent."

The man's breath caught in his throat, torn between the desperation for freedom and the fear of what this offer might entail. Yet, under the spell of the cloaked figure's persuasive words, his resolve wavered. He saw a glimmer of hope, a chance to reclaim his life.

Finally, with a voice heavy with decision, he whispered, "I will follow you, trust in your words. Lead me towards the freedom you promise, and I shall be your willing instrument."

A faint smile played upon the cloaked figure's lips, a mixture of satisfaction and intrigue. The pact had been sealed, the path of uncertainty beckoning them both.

Together, they stepped out of the shadows, leaving behind the prison cell, shrouded in mystery. Their destinies intertwined, yet the true nature of their alliance remained concealed, awaiting revelation in the depths of time.

Olivia, Charlotte & Kazumin
Part 2

Olivia patted Kaz’s head and turned to face Charlotte. With the conversion out of the way and the understanding clear, she focused on Charlotte. There was something off about her; Olivia could tell she had been holding it back. Frowning, she took her hand and squeezed it. ”What’s wrong with you? Don’t try to lie, I can tell you are not well. You had the Alidasht dinner tonight right? How did that go?”

The pat though awkward, was greatly appreciated and was returned with a gentle smile.

Charlotte averted her eyes and exhaled before replying, “Oh… It didn’t go so great honestly…But I’ll be alright.” Her gaze fixated on a lamp in the room before finally returning it on Kazumin and Persephone. “ I did get some information about the party last night…Lord Leo and I decided to ask around.. “ With a slight smile, she added to Kazumin, “If maybe I could ask you a few questions about it some time, I’d appreciate that... Perhaps tomorrow though as I am a little weary tonight.”

Olivia studied Charlotte’s demeanor and didn’t let go of her hand or falter. There was more to that story than she was letting on. Though she seemed weary, Olivia did not want to ignore her friends’ pain. Instead she came over to hug her gently and told her quietly: ”Let us be here for you like you’ve been here for us, Charlie.” She then let go and watched her for a moment then turned to Kazumin. Liv’s jaw clenched as she thought of it and the potential dangers they had been in, and she shook her head. Too much was going on for her to comprehend, but she knew she wanted to focus on these two for now.

Seeing that things had settled down, Kazu made himself comfortable on the couch where he idly munched away at cookies. He took care to keep his bites quiet so as to not disrupt his friends' conversation. Allowing himself a proper moment to relax; the same he hoped for the ladies who were clearly stressed out with whatever crime Persephone was accused of. And whatever occurred at this dinner for Charlotte. Numerous questions popped into his head, but kept them to himself for the moment as he was addressed, pulling him from his thoughts.

Hm? Oh the party? Yeah, sure…Ask away. I don’t mind.” Waving his free hand casually, clearly unbothered by the whole thing, even sitting there like this was just a casual hangout as if his whole ordeal was nothing to make a stink over.

As Olivia's arms enveloped her in a gentle hug, a realization washed over her like a tidal wave. The depths of her need for this embrace became painfully apparent. Tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill over as she hugged her back. Charlotte had grown accustomed to concealing her emotions, burying them deep. The vulnerability of allowing others to witness her in a state of distress made her uneasy. But at that moment, the weight of her feelings became too immense to bear in silence

“Thank you… You have no idea how much that means to me.” An undertone of her sorrow could be heard as she let go and looked over at Kazumin. “Okay. Maybe we can grab some lunch somewhere tomorrow and talk about it… My treat. “

Kazumin saw and wondered just how much strife and frustration Charlotte has been holding in. What the two witnessed was merely a glimpse and it made his heart ache with rage. Seeing the duke’s daughter force herself to hold it back out of some sense of guilt or shame instilled into her from this nobility’s life. She wasn’t the only one needing comfort and the fact he could do nothing but let his anger seethe; throwing a tantrum would only serve to make things harder on them for the sake of his own relief. Patience was the best course forward, his frustration tempered and honed towards his goal. A small sigh accepting the burden as his previously stern expression shifted into his usual friendly grin.” Sounds good to me!” A thumbs up following his excited response.

Olivia realized after hugging Charlotte, how dearly the girl needed it. She saw the tears and gently wiped them away in a sisterly fashion. ”You are welcome and can ask me anytime.” Olivia then let go as well, but remained at her side. She nodded in response to her offer. ”I feel weird having you pay for me… but it’ll do.” The guilt of the situation began to dawn on her as she took in how sweet Charlotte truly was inside. She had been dragged through the mud all her life, yet she remained kind. The fact she was here, forcing their safety onto her and the stress it likely gave her caused Liv’s stomach to churn.

Charlotte managed a faint smile, but as soon as Olivia started wiping her tears, her lip started to quiver. She realized with a sinking feeling that there wasn’t much she could do to stop the dam from breaking. The tears flowed freely down her face and an uncontrollable sob rose in her throat. Her face contorted with the strain of holding back her feelings. Overwhelmed by her emotions, she instinctively buried her face in her hands, seeking sanctuary in her own palms. “S-Sorry.” She stammered.

Sensing what was about to come from Percy’s kindness, Kazu simply closed his eyes, yet listened to pain in her cries. He wanted to let the lady keep some dignity in this very personal moment, taking into consideration how humiliating it must be for her.” Enough of that. You got nothing to be sorry about…Let out all you need.” Saying nothing more, leaving it up to Charlotte when it was enough.

Olivia’s eyes widened with Charlotte’s sudden, but likely needed, outburst. She was shocked, unable to move; then quickly jumped into action. She grabbed a bunch of tissues and then removed Charlotte’s hand gently and began dabbing at her face and eyes, much like a mother would to a baby so she didn’t hurt her.

”Don’t ever apologize for showing your emotions. We’re here for you. You need to let it out.” Olivia pulled her into a hug so that Charlotte’s chin would be resting on her shoulder. ”Let it out. If not, you may drown in your own sorrow.”

Charlotte was taken aback by the genuine kindness in the girl's actions, causing her to pause and lift her gaze. As the girl delicately wiped away tears, a flicker of surprise melted into a subtle smile on Charlotte's face. She then commented with a voice still laden with emotion, “Goodness. You’re a sweetheart, aren’t you?” At that moment, she realized that her initial impression of the girl had been completely off.
However, as Charlotte's mind wandered, her smile gradually faded.

After a hard swallow, she averted her gaze downward. “Um… There is s-something I must share…” Charlotte pressed her hands into her thighs.

“... Violet Damien is alive.”

Kazu kept quietly eating the cookies while Olivia comforted Charlotte (she was typically better at this kind of thing) as his mind drifted back to Calbert. Or to be precise, the count’s face moments before he was preparing to shoot him, the metal cold against the flesh. Cold, yet a small bit of warmth from prior uses still remained. The man’s face a somewhat blurry cacophony of-

Hearing mention of the name pulled Kazu from his memory diving as while the name Violet (doubtful to be any of the barmaids back at home) was unfamiliar, Damien clearly stuck out catching his intrigue. ” Sorry for the interruption, but who’s this Violet?” Asked after swallowing his latest mouthful, his free hand wiping crumbs from face and fingers.

"Calbert's daughter..." Her eyes fell on Olivia, "The one Percy said that Calbert thinks she's killed."
