King Edin had been preparing to enter the garden. His dancers were rehearsing just outside it as they had planned a grand entrance. Women were fanning him with gigantic, gold-trimmed fans while another servant was tilting his face left and right, looking for any imperfections. True to his character, the king relished in the idea of arriving fashionably late, savoring the anticipation it created among his guests. He raised his hand, ready to cue the beginning of his parade.

But in that moment of poised anticipation, a horrendous trumpet blared through the air, jolting the king and his entourage. Horror etched across his face, he felt an inexplicable sensation rise in his throat as if his very dignity had been assaulted. "What-... What is the meaning of this!" He sputtered in disbelief.

“Beautiful people of Caesonia, The Prince of Onions and Ezra Turner, master baker, the greatest in Caesonia, have arrived!”

King Edin was silently fuming. How dare that vile Callum play a TRUMPET in his courtyard at... at his event!

His loyal servants glanced at him, concern etched across their faces, uncertain of how to quell their king's wrath.

"... Prince of Onions... Oh you truly are a waste of space and time, Callum Danrose." Gritting his teeth, he looked at them. "We must outdo his spectacle and make everyone quickly forget that disgraceful noise." the king seethed, his tone laced with disdain.

He looked at one of the guards. "If he plays that trumpet one more time, you must go confiscate it from him. Chase him down if you have to."

A hush went over the garden as the tune of a few horns filled the air(none of them trumpets), overpowering the sweet sound of birds chirping. The string quartet came to a halt. Beautiful, scantily clad women came down a path from the castle into the garden, adorned in the most opulent of jewels. Their smiles, as radiant as the gems they wore, graced all who caught their gaze.

Following in the wake of the bewitching women, a troupe of graceful dancers twirled and weaved, their every motion a mesmerizing display.

And finally, at the heart of this enchanting spectacle, appeared King Edin himself. Flanked by his loyal knights, he strode with an air of undeniable authority, his every step echoing with confidence. A long, fur-trimmed cape cascaded behind him, sweeping the ground. The ends of it were carried by some servants, whose smiles did seem a little forced. His crown, adorned with an array of glistening gemstones, caught the sunlight and sent dazzling rays in every direction.

"Behold! Your King!" A small bearded fellow bellowed.

"Behold, my esteemed guests!" King Edin proclaimed, echoing the man with a flourish of his hand, causing the musicians to momentarily falter in their tune. "Welcome to this most spectacular garden tea party, graciously hosted by none other than yours truly, King Edin of Caesonia!"

Loud applause filled the air and sounds of excitement from people definitely not paid to do so.

"Is there any doubt that this event is an embodiment of unparalleled magnificence?" the king continued, a self-satisfied smile stretching across his face. "I have spared no expense in providing you with the finest treats, the most exquisite music, and, of course, the honor of being in the presence of the great King Edin himself!"

King Edin gave everyone a joyous smile as he waved to all, then proceeded to move over to a table. He had been informed that all the food had been tasted and no one had died from poison this time, which was a great way to start the day!

"Observe, as I indulge in the delights of my kingdom," he declared, taking a delicate bite. "Delicious, of course. But not nearly as exquisite as myself!" After his performance, he moved over to a large marble throne to sit for all to see. He was truly a kind king to let their eyes grace his greatness in such close proximity.

As knights flanked him protectively, while two broke off to find Callum and catch his eye, daring him to dare blow that blasted trumpet again.

Charlotte's expression perked up and she set her book down at Olivia's words. Oh wow. I think she fancies him. A smile crossed her lips as her gaze shifted between the two. She had to remind herself that Olivia had been raised differently, so it made sense that she was bold with her love interests.

"I do experience bouts of homesickness, but I have spent many wonderful summers here in Sorian. It's a second home to me." She answered Farim with a soft smile that wavered moments later. In that fleeting moment, a vivid image flashed before her eyes: a man with dark hair standing on the shore, turning towards her with a captivating smile, inviting her to join him in the embrace of the water. But as quickly as the memory appeared, it dissipated, leaving her anchored in reality. There was no one standing there.

She shook it off best she could and found herself tuning in on Farim's recollection of his home. It seemed like a dream to be able to gaze upon those long stretches of sand. She could only imagine how incredible the sunrise and sunset must be.Charlotte found herself daydreaming about what it would be like to swim in an oasis as well, but the reverie was disturbed as she noticed Dr. John Williamson staring at her from across the way.

It was hard not to get the image of him brandishing the knife out of her head, but she still wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He looks like he wants to talk.

She rose from her seat after a slight hesitation and stood, stating, "Excuse me. I will be right back." With that, she hurriedly approached the Varian doctor and greeted him with a gentle hug(It was important not to disturb his smoothie).

"Hello, doctor!" Charlotte greeted him in a friendly tone. As she let go of him, she smiled at him. "It's a really nice day, isn't it?"

"Under your custody?" Phia's voice quivered as she echoed. "They have done nothing wrong, Ulyses. They were just looking for their family." Suddenly, the trees and everyone around her seemed to melt away and her surroundings transformed into a haunting scene of desolation. Ruins of a home surrounded her, with wood and debris scattered across the grass. Anguished screams pierced the air. The canopy of large trees seemed to hide the night sky above. She wanted to move but she was crushed underneath something heavy. Fleeting images of bloodied bodies hijacked her view, and then menacing, black, clawed feet.

Confusion gripped her, unable to decipher the meaning behind these haunting images, and tears streamed down her cheeks unnoticed. With an expression and unwavering intensity unlike Phia, she swiftly positioned herself protectively in front of Viola and Cyrus, pointing her staff resolutely at Ulyses. In the depths of her mind, she struggled to comprehend her own actions.

In the back of her mind, she couldn't believe her actions.

Ulyses was her family. The village of Guarav was her family.

Why would she turn on them for strangers?

But Phia could not stop herself. She felt with every fiber in her being that she could not let anyone take Viola and Cyrus away.

" That..is enough." Her gaze slid to Menzai briefly and she tightened her grip.

"Menzai is right. That is enough."

Charlotte's attention momentarily shifted back to her book, her fingers carefully adjusting its position on her lap. However, it was the warm sensation of Farim's breath against the skin of her face as he spoke that instantly drew her gaze upward. Suddenly, she found herself locked in an unexpected face-to-face encounter with Farim as he chewed his sandwich. Her first thought had been that he had rather lovely eyes. Then the next thought had been that this was an intimate position and they were in a public space. Her cheeks reddened and her eyes slightly widened as she gave him a slow nod to his apology. She cleared her throat as she discreetly slunk back in her chair, fiddling with a lock of her hair with averted eyes, "U-Uh yes. Our chef Gilbert taught me everything I know and he's rather well-versed in the art of sandwich making... Do enjoy."

She leaned a little to the side yet again he was a little close for comfort with his bow towards Olivia. Charlotte instinctively shifted her position, leaning slightly to the side in an attempt to create some space between them. Her grip on the book tightened, her knuckles turning a shade lighter as she turned to the next page with heightened intensity, the rustling of the paper audible to all in the moment. "This is a nice beach, but Lorenzo is right... " A soft smile found its way onto her lips. "There's nothing like Veirmont... We frequent here during the summer or when the King summons us, but our primary residence is in another part of Caesonia, where we spend most of the year."

Phia's heart swelled with relief, her eyes sparkling with joy as she beheld the first flicker of consciousness in Menzai's eyes. Acting swiftly, she tore a strip of fabric from her dress and moistened it with water from her flask. Then, she proceeded to dab at the corner of Menzai's lips gently, hushing him as he tried to speak. "Menzai. You do not need to speak...Just listen." Her eyes searched his for a moment. Menzai had been closest to her in all that she had known and she could imagine what was going through that head of his. With a smile, she said tenderly, "You saved me... Thank you."

She had wanted to say more, feeling as if a thousand words had been lingering on the tip of her tongue. But it was then a loud slam shattered the moment, startling her. She whirled to look over her shoulder, immediately stating with recognition, "Ulyses!" Her mind had not anticipated his presence, yet there he stood, brandishing his axe as always.

Heeding the initial instructions to stay put, Phia remained rooted to her spot, continuing to heal Menzai until she was certain that further blood loss was no longer a concern. During this brief respite, Phia took a quick survey of her surroundings, noting that Dante was on the ground and acknowledging Cyrus's nod with one of her own.

I have to make sure Dante is okay too after.

She had given Jin a nod and smile in regards to his statement, but had not yet commented until she noticed them approaching Cyrus and Viola. She had not been able to quite hear every word from her position, but it was when he swung his axe as a threat toward them that something awoke in her. With an unreadable expression, she gently laid Menzai down and rose to her feet. She felt as if her legs were moving toward the situation on their own accord.

Arriving moments after Darius had taken his stand, Phia allowed him to speak, though her clenched fists betrayed her feelings.

“Hey Ulyses, Thing 1 and Thing 2! Let's get off of ten and take it down to a… a two. Okay?... Hey listen! They helped us. A lot...I don't know them but… I don't know, take my word for it. This could have been a whole lot worse and I trust them...We're not fighting, right?”

"Darius is correct...They could have run." Phia chimed in, adding some weight to his statement. "They stayed and they fought valiantly..." Her eyes fell on Cyrus and Viola, glossy with emotion. She had just met these two yet she felt willing to lay her life down to make sure they were safe. Phia knew it was absurd to feel that way about strangers, but she could not stop herself.

In a moment of charged silence, Phia's unwavering gaze found its target in Ulyses, her voice resolute, "With all due respect, you will refrain from threatening my comrades ever again, Ulyses."

Charlotte's eyes had fallen on Olivia with a smile, "Of course." She told her warmly and set her books in her lap. She sat up and then reached for the picnic basket. Charlotte opened it and began taking out a few sandwiches. However, as she was about to hand Olivia a sandwich, she paused, her voice softer just for her ears, "You know," she whispered, her words filled with a tender sincerity, "...It warms my heart to see you so relaxed and with a smile on your face... I want you to remember that it's going to be okay."

As she had been in motion to give Lorenzo a sandwich next, a new voice filled the air. Her gaze flickered to find the man from the Alidasht from the other night, Farim. She had intended to speak more with him, so it was a pleasant surprise to find him here. "Hello there, again. Please join us." She greeted him, her tone exuding friendliness. She patted the blanket nearby. "Plenty of room for you."

Lorenzo's question, however, did make her pause with some concern. She didn't want to stumble upon Hafiz or, heaven forbid, Layla and her snake. Yet, after pondering for a moment, she realized it was highly improbable. Farim had come across as a nice person, albeit perhaps overly interested in women's appearances. It seemed unlikely that he would intentionally lead them into such a situation.

As her worry dissipated, she offered a sandwich to Farim with a large grin, "Here!"
