So, at the very least these two didn't get their claws on that knight boy? I suppose that's a small victory, in a way.Vanessa looked at the sleeping/unconscious angel and salamander, she couldn't help but a slightly amused - some might say smug - smiled on her lips. Looking around, the cell was... Well, mostly what you'd expect from a cell. Although the accomodations were a lot better than what you'd find in most jails. Perhaps this had been something that the Incubus Knight had provided for them? Or perhaps Ortus was just generally very lenient on criminals? It mattered little.
Hearing a voice from outside the bars, Vanessa's head turned to look and see. It was... Uh... Who was that again? She felt like she'd seen the man before, or mayne she'd heard his voice? In passing? ... Nope. Couldn't place his face. Which probably meant he wasn't too important or memorable. Still, he had questions and things to say, and it appeared even her dear client was out cold - and with nowhere else to go, there wasn't much point in ignoring the fellow.
"What had ... Inky...?" Vanessa blinked a few times, before her still somewhat grogged mind put two and two together.
"Ohhhh, the knight-boy these two are after." She said, gentyl bumping a closed fist into her open palm in an 'A-ha!' moment of realization. She then proceeded to shrug her shoulders.
"I honestly couldn't tell you. He's being sought and courted by two pretty young ladies. I'd imagine most men would normally be over the moon if they had girls fighting over them." The dark mage said as if it were the most obvious fact in the world.
"I did break the law though, I suppose. What with using a 'flashy' spell..." She mused, a dainty finger tapping her chin, before smiling innocently and sweetly.
"... Of course, that was done in self-defense. My kind isn't really built to handle things with brute strength, you see." She added. Which was... Sort of true... Considering the angel had attacked her and Iskah first. And The Salamander had attaccked and chased Aun. So really, in a sense, she and Iskah had just been protecting an Ortusian from rampaging monsters! Yup. Definitely.
"Although I can recount the night's events to you, that'd only be my point of view and observations. I'm sure Iskah - the lizardman girl there - can vouch for my testimony, but I'm not sure the other two will see things the same way. In which case, you'll have a 'we said, they said' situation on your hasnds, once they wake up." The dark mage explained, being very cooperative and honest with her statement. After all, there was no point in trying to lie or use underhand tricks at this point.
Several hours had passed,a nd judging from what she could recall of yesterday, Aun and his knight-buddies were going to be shipping off to somewhere. And if it was already bright outside, then several hours had gone by since she got to eat Ortus-brand pavement during the night- Which also meant, in the most reasonable of deductions, the Incubus Knight was no longer here, and trying to rush and get herself and Iskah released from prison would serve no immediate purpose. Everyone, inlcuding the Salamander and Angel, had een set back to square one, with Aun once again slipping away and being on the loose.
So, for now, that was that. Instead of worrying about things she couldn't do anything about though, the raven-haired monster witch walked over to Iskah, leaned down and inspected the girl. MAking sure she didn't have any scrapes or cuts or wounds on her body. IF she did, she'd use some basic healing magic to help. There'd be no such treatment for the other two though. The competition would need to take care of themselves.
