The reality for those in the Northern Redemption District is quite different though; it is a miserable place. The terrain consists of gray rocks as far as the eye could see, both inside and beyond the four walls made of the same material, with similarly-colored mountains visible in the distance. This rock is used for all of the builds there, with the staff buildings distinguished by signs and more care into their design. Those unfortunate enough to be here spend their days waking up before dawn, mining for gold for hours, eating a single meal of soup and bread, and sleeping, only to repeat the same routine the next day.

Now, it was true that nobody wanted to be sent there, but for those who were clever enough, there were minor comforts to be had in this place. One person lucky enough to fit this category was Titus, a thief and alchemist sent here after failing to steal from the government. It was the skills he learned in the latter trade that led the man to be where he was that afternoon; the Guard House.

In that building, one of the guards of the facility was sitting in a wooden chair, taking his break. Zachary was tired today and deep in thought.

It's been a long week. Maybe I shouldn't have taken the overtime; I feel like I'm going to mess something up. But what could I do? The Warden asked me personally! The Divine Blood doesn't lie. If the boss thinks I have potential, maybe I should stop-

"Hey Zach, what's going on?"

The resting man was startled out of his thoughts, but relaxed when he saw the stupid face of Cletus, his fellow worker. The man was wide and short, dim but a good fellow, always finding amusing ways to mess with the slav-er, penitents.

"Oh, not much. Just resting and still kind of worried; it's been a long week."

"Quit that already! Don't you know, tonight's the big day!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Zachary shook his head, a slight grin appearing on his face.

"Ya hear the Warden got us the good booze for the party? Not that cheap shit like last year!"

On and on their conversation went. Vito, leaning against a wall in the Guard House, just wanted Cletus to shut the fuck up. By the King was that bastard fucking annoying, and it made it hard to listen to the man who was talking to him. Titus had good information and better tobacco (made with some alchemal process he was unfamiliar with), so he was actually worth paying attention to. 

Unbeknownst to Vito, the thief was quite interested in what the guard's younger coworkers had to say. A party and booze meant drunk guards, and that meant…

Later on in the day, the usual dinner was being held at the mine's "cafeteria." It was a generous name for a sparse building with its furniture consisting of rocks used as chairs and larger, relatively flatter rocks used as tables, but the prisoners were usually more focused on eating than on the place's naming conventions. This evening, however, the focus of a small group of people was on the resident alchemist, describing in low tones what he had heard and why it mattered.

"...so if they're drunk, that means they'll be less attentive, and that's our chance to get it; the master map." The man continued talking about more specific details related to the Guard House, but the others realized the significance of what had just been said immediately. 

Just by working there long enough, even the lowliest of slaves knew the layout of the District, but the master map was the only one in the complex with the location of the key on it. And this wasn't just an ordinary key; this one was capable of unlocking the cuff each prisoner wore around their ankle that blocked their ability to use magic. The appropriately-named magic key could be used to give the group their spellcasting abilities back, then they could use that power to escape. And it wasn't like there was another way to get this information, so if the group didn't take advantage of this opportunity, another one like it was not likely to replace it.

"With the key, we'll have a chance to finally be free," Titus concluded, "and I intend to take it. Who's with me?"

In the dreary stone cell, the big brute known as Kruger recited his message while [NAME] Titus Hart scrawled the words in the form of a letter.  The [AGE] 21 year old often provided his services as a scribe to other prisoners - an easy way to gain favour with the right men.  Kruger had influence due to his time served and his effective ability to beat the living shit out of most who stood against him.

"And errr... just... I love you... n all that."

Titus looked up at the man, the usual dispassionate expression on his face.  "Perhaps something a tad more endearing would be better?"  Kruger's quizzical reaction only made him look dumber than usual.  Titus elaborated, a performative tone reminiscant of the stage.

"My love for you defies the heights of mountains and the brights of stars,
Let it be your warmth until I have you in my arms."

Kruger's face lit up.  "Ooh, that's fancy.  She'll like that - put that."

Titus scrawled the last of the letter and signed it with Kruger's name.  Then folded the paper in two.  "I'll make sure the guard gets it."

[APPEARANCE]  Standing up, his 6' 1" height had Titus at eye-level with the thug, although at 170lbs and no skills in combat, he wasn't even close to having the same kind of presence as Kruger.  Nonetheless, he had something of an aura of his own.  He kept himself well groomed - a blade for shaving, water to slick his hair and clean his face.  Even his prison garmants seemed better-kept than most around him.  And his fearless, piercing gaze never wavered.  Even when he first arrived at Northern Redemption District and was intimidated and bullied to no end.

"What do I owe you, Titus?" Kruger asked after patting the younger man on the arm with a meaty hand.

"Nothing for now, I may come to you for a favour another time," was the reply.  "Just continue to keep your goons in line, if you would be so kind."

Kruger nodded briskly.  He turned to leave, but paused and turned back, deciding to finally ask what he'd been wondering for a while.  "Your face don't fit in this place.  Where'd you come from, eh?"

[BACKGROUND]Titus sat back down on the edge of the bed and crossed one leg over the other.  "I was born to Penelope Hart and some horny nobleman.  I grew up in Richmond - hardly rich, to be perfectly fair, but what small town is.  Had a good childhood, a close relationship with my grandmother, a small band of friends.  Left town when I was 16, went to the city to seek my fortune - and fortune I found.  And enjoyed.  Until it came to an end."

"How'd you end up here?"

"Failed heist on the Golden Sun's Treasury." Kruger's eyebrows shot up, impressed.  It was always so weird to Titus to hear prisoners be impressed with grand failure.  The bigger the failure, the worse your sentence, the more impressed people were.  Stupid.  "The city tax house.  Was going swimmingly well until one of our team doomed us all by... well... a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.  The details are inconsequential now.  We were arrested, sentenced and split up.  I was sent here with a life sentence to serve."

"You must have some skills then, being in that kinda game, eh."

[CLASS AND SKILLS]"Me? I'm but a simple alchemist.  I'm familiar with mixtures and compounds for healing, poisoning and other delights.  But my main role on in our gang was on matters of explosives."  Titus looked up at Kruger to gauge his reaction to this.  Long had the prospect of escaping this prison mine been on his mind.  Kruger may be another valuable ally in this endeavour (he'd already met other interesting characters who he'd marked as such.)  Kruger didn't react in any particularly notable way - he was impressed and surprised, as to be expected.  "Anyway," Titus moved on swiftly. "We will be late for supper, should we get moving?"

Appearance: 

Personality: 
All assassins need to be vicious and cruel…. Well, not this one. Mhin is the definition to wolf on sheep’s clothes. Seems cheerful and even a little naïve, with her big smiles and clear eyes, makes you want to protect her and keep her away from the cruel world. But in reality, she’s much sharper than most, with a temper of a goblin and a sailor’s mouth, her words are only as sharp as her blades and as harsh as stones. She would smile at you cutely while slashing your throat. Passion and courage with a dash of sarcasm is the perfect doze for trouble, and despite the fact that she did train being the “perfect assassin” she is still young, which tends to come with little to no patience; it is not that she goes through live looking for trouble or fights, but she doesn’t back down from a challenge nor a fight. Whether you’re a woman, men or troll, she’ll take you just to shut you up.

Using people and throwing them out is the things she had to learn in the company of the assassins, so she does that without a second thought, always expecting people to stab you in the back is actually the best way to preventing that from happening —at least, that’s what she believes—. Always keeping people at arm’s length, not looking for company or understanding, but peace and money.

But past the harsh exterior, you’ll find a lost girl that had to learn to punch back. Loyal to the ones she considers her peers; she’ll have your back whenever you need it. Lonely, who most of the time still sees the weakly street urchin she was when looking in the mirror —which is why she lashes out when provoked— exhausted to always having to prove a point. 

Backstory: 
The first memories she has of the world, are of a damp and humid alley. Shadows and hunger clung to her, just as the smell of rotten food did to her rags. Her feet always hurting from the harsh streets and her eyes hollow, voided of life. She used to ask her self why some people had so much while she had nothing, why would she be destined to a life of poverty and hunger when there were people fatter than the pigs at the butchery? Life wasn’t fair, so why should she just root with the rest of the orphans on the street? Those thoughts are what got her into stealing from the travelers who were camping in the forest near the village where she lived, becoming more cunning as time past, until one day she targeted a bigger fish than she thought. 

The crow could’ve killed her without a thought, but she had impressed him not only by her being as silent as a breeze, but also because of the courage —or stupidity— she had on targeting someone like him.  So, he offered her the chance of being part of the assassin’s group, and since the alternative was either that or die, the child accepted, the rest is history.

The last step to becoming a full-fledged talon of the Crows. 
She had been in training and had already participated on a few missions her self —as most street urchins that caught the Crows’s interest— but there was only a few selected that got the chance to actually have a meaningful place amongst the assassin’s group, even fewer made it to a full Crow —the leaders and very top of it all—. The last mission was always a mystery, but she could never have expected it to be that hard; One moment she was dinning with the rest of the rookies and the next, she was being dragged to the very entrance of the prison mines, with only a small note hidden away on her undergarments that read: ”Good luck”. 

Luck was not going to get her out of there. Luck was not what had gotten her to be taken by a crow when she was but a meekly little girl with big eyes and fast hands… no, luck was a bitch.
Class: Assassin.
Notable skills or abilities: 
- Stealth, she’s as quiet as there is, merely a breeze of the wind or a trick of the eyes. 
- Flexibility and good at climbing without support.
- Good with blades and throwing knives.
- Close ranged combat.
Anything else: 
- She’s 5’3 which makes her great for small places and faster than the big guys.
- She’s terrified of any type of spiders.
- She suspects there is someone from the assassins guild in there with her, but knows she only must escape.

 Name:  Cailin

 Age:  21

A half-human dark elf, skin the color of bluish-gray ash, eyes bright as blood, hair like a moonbeam. Of course, she doesn't quite look as nice now as when she was captured. Her head is locked inside an iron helmet, all one can see is her red eyes and chapped lips. She's thinner now, wiry from the work in the mine, her nails torn and jagged, her hands rough from the mining labor. 

One might mistake her for a child, as she's shorter than the others.

 Personality:  She's wary, preferring a corner at her back, sleeps in a corner, keeps to herself mostly, speaking as little as possible (her words echo in the helmet), slow to trust. Sounds tired (the seal of the Dead God does that to the magic-inclined), prone to sarcasm (and the occasional scream-fest, which most can barely hear but echoes for a while in her helmet.)

The mage Zamyer, bearing some sort of grudge against the kingdom's rulers (taxes, code enforcement, labor relations), decided to take over the kingdom by producing his own crown prince. So on the prince's wedding night, he was bespelled by a dark elf enchantress, who delivered seven months later a crying half-human baby to the wizard.

"This.. is a girl," Zamyer scowled. 
"Ah, I wasn't sure you knew the difference."
"But I wanted a boy!"
"The magic ensured a shorter pregnancy, not the sex of the child."
"But what am I to do with... this?" he demanded angrily, poking at Cailin. 
"Not my problem. Pay me or regret it."

The girl was fobbed off on Mrs. Green, the housekeeper, who named her Cailin.  She was raised in the tower, seeing people only at a distance when the sun went down. Eventually the wizard had his Man at Arms / army scout Briggs teach Cailin how to be a thief, in case she proved useless in his takeover bid. 

His man, however, drank far too much one night in the town's tavern and told the towns people everything. Word soon reached the king, who dispatched riders to capture Zamyer and the half-princess. When the king and queen saw her, they realized Cailin had the family resemblance. They chopped off Zamyer's head for his part in the plot, but could not bring themselves to kill her. Instead, they locked her in an iron helmet to hide her face. To ensure she could not use magic, they impressed the seal of the Dead God into the helmet.

They then sent her to prison - but instead of a tower off the coast, the guards delivered Cailin to the mine instead - getting free beer and a bribe. 

She's been a prisoner here for three or four years now. Or was it five?

 Notable skills or abilities:  
She can see in the dark, climb, swim (better without her helmet), pick locks, disable traps, fight with a short sword and dagger, throw a knife, shoot a bow, use a sling, and hide herself.

 Anything else:  Light-blindness. Guards cover her helmet on bright days to get her to the mine.
She's can't hear too well in the helmet.
Seal of the Dead God saps at the wearer's magic.
Dark elves are not the most trusted of people. They're only up at night.

I'm kinda confused, though I admit that could be from all the CSes I've been reading. Why is her magic sealed and how did a random mage make a dark elf baby from two humans? That could be an iffy thing due to some of stuff for the royals I have planned.

and done thought of complicating it and adding more info and data but i am the sort of guy who makes simple stuff and then let is grow complex as the story goes by.

Vígdís

Age: 19

physical description: Vígdís is 1.6 meeters tall and has a low weight, her body has rough skin tanned, burned with many marks of whips and her musclues are low. She is also more thin but more agile then her peers.

Personality: Vígdís is young while many would tell that in her age she would be rash and prone to stupid decisions. Something she does but unfrotunetly most of the time is the oposite raised under the whip and the blood hound she is quiet and timid and prone being scared easily.

While her world is one of darkness she dreams often and is curious and even ambitious especialy when dealing with her other gift of magic and sorcery a blessing by the gods according to her people something information she is limited to gain information but she stills seeks fervourishly. One thing she bottles up in her soul is extreme anger against her captors a hatred unable to be extinguished.

Backstory: Vígdís is considered one of the few who were born in slavery compared to captured, warriors, cultists, mercenaries, criminals and many others. She was born in shackles her tribe was raided and her mother was carryng her at the time. She soon was born in the mines and since infancy was grown in the darkness seeing little of the sun, moon and stars which were considered sacred by her people.

Growing up hearing tales from her mother and the few people that was from her culture allowed her to speak the language of the Úgraklenian clans and with it she also grew up discovering something else. Magic in her blood awoke what her people called the call of the ancients a power focused on life and what is called dead magic a extremely religious symbol for the Úgraklenian tribes which was imediatly locked behind a necklace with a gemstone blocking her powers causing a small riot that killed her mother and most of her tribe leaving her mostly alone. 

Growing up in the mines she saw her new family as nothing more then just the few friends she made after the disaster and the last remaining members of her tribe before they got moved. With the whippings and beatings she soon grew to be quiet and silent to many but still very attentative and curious her powers still fuel her curiosity and her ambition some say. The guards especialy try to make sure she uses little of her powers since for then the gift as it is called is believed to be incredibly dangerous due to its potential.

As her adult age began she still works in the mines but dreams now of the futuer and leaving and returning to her homeland to where her family was before she was born here. To learn of her people and to learn more of her powers whatever the cost may take and whatever fate and destiny the gods of above tell her to do for it.

Class: Sorceress The powers of a sorcerer are of unknown origin and limit, controlers of a mystic energy called the Aether that lies within then. The usage is considered dangerous but powerfull capable of doing nearly all with enough training and mastery one can be powerfull. But at the same time one can grow sickly from its effect and according to some worse.

Notable skills or abilities:

Fire Magic: A very easy skill she managed to adquire early on especialy fueled by her anger. A power centered around the control, creation and usage of flames and fire albeit limited. Its growth has incresed recently thanks to her training attempts even if sparks the power is increesing.

Healing powers: Mostly focused on her own body the power can heal her body from wounds and stop bleeding she can also focus said power into others albeit it is limited thanks to her collar. Healing others is still quite weak compared to her incresed resilence but she still is increesing her abilities in that front.

Darken mage: A form of control of shadows that she uses for puppet shadow shows in free time for fun. At the same time it is also considered a more dangerous form of power since usage for her has prooven to cause her to be sick from overexposure compared to her others powers.

Agility: (not magic) While she may look week, thin and only usefull for her magic skills she is quite agile and dextrous.

Anything else: She wears a collar that restricts her powers and has a pendent around her wrist with the symbol of the moon,sun and stars mixed into one.
