The Other Bandits

Time: Night
Location: Desert
Interactions: @hide on mana Kuroi, @dragonpiece Uzul

Uzul’s counter had been flawless! The blue dragonborn rushed forth, only perceiving a desperate attempt at distracting him. A cloak of all things was nothing against a swipe from his ax. He swung, tearing part of the cloak before the swift gauntlet crashed straight into his maw. Metal to teeth! The dragonborn screamed in pain as he dropped his weapon and held his hands to his bleeding nose and mouth.

The pale-skinned orc felt a similar strike to the face but his response to such a hit was almost unnatural. He had been struck, but instead of recoiling back in a dazing, he let his body fall backward and performed a single backflip. With a crazed snicker, the orc’s mane of spiders started to cover his body.

“Yess my children! Come to my aid! We have not tasted one of my own in so so long!” The orc’s body was now covered in a moving black mail of spiders, leaving his head bare. With a grunt he charged Uzul, ready to face him in direct combat this time.

Unfortunately for Kuroi, things were getting tense. The whip strike that had missed previously, landed this time, hitting and tearing at his shoulder with its serrated tip. Following up, the female elf moved swiftly and thrust her rapier into Kuroi’s abdomen.

“HA!”

The feline demihuman crouched down, their sights on Kuroi. At this fixed point, his bolts would strike true. He only had to wait for an opening.

The Bandits

Time: Night
Location: Desert
Interactions: @13org Nuallán, @baraquiel Jomari

The hyena and monkey demi-human stared each other in the eyes as they felt the cut of Nuallan’s whip-like blade. Slicing deep into their abdomens, the attack spelled death for them both as they collapsed onto the cold desert sand.

The two knives thrown by Nuallán weren’t so effective… The ibis was luckily only nicked by the blade meant to end her life. Perhaps it was due to the slight sway from her dizziness. The second knife meant for the scorpion demi-human bounced off of his chitinous tail, but did cause him briefly turn toward the elf.

“Was that supposed to hurt? HOW WEAK!” The scorpion demi-human shouted, distracted just enough for Jomari and Nuallán to get close to each other. The crocodile, the rhino, the scorpion, and the Ibis surrounded the two just before Jomari shouted and let loose an explosion of sand. The crocodile blocked the attack with his shield, the Ibis and rhino recoiled, and the scorpion was seemingly blown away so far he was no longer visible. The ibis cursed under her breath, wanting to end the battle with such a strange magic user. Her wish was granted as she was stabbed in the back by Jomari. With a gasp, she fell to her knees. She was down but had not found death just yet.

As the sand started to clear, the rhino and the crocodile stood shoulder to shoulder in a defensive posture much different than when this ambush started. However, the scorpion was still nowhere to be found.

"I look fine." Maeryn retorted a little defensively, picking up the menu firmly. Myra speaking up made him raise a brow, but his eyes remained on the menu. "We have to choose what foo we want first..."He looked over the top of the menu at Astra, "I suppose any kind of meat will please Myra?"

As he awaited her response, he decided to make a choice for himself. "Meat soup." His gaze was pulled to a waitress passing with plates balanced on her arm. One had a huge chunk of meat on it. He asked her quickly as she passed the name of the dish and was informed that it was the Mystery Steak of the day. The woman paused for a moment to show them before moving on. "You want that, Myra?"He asked.

He folded his arms on the table and narrowed his eyes as a conversation perked his interest from behind their table.

"Did you see that tornado at the beach today? That was insane. Where did it come from?"

"I saw a girl in the center of it. I think maybe it was one of the humans... I heard they can do that."

A sigh could be heard. "Great. That's probably why there are dark elves here now. I came here hoping River Port wouldn't get involved in this war."

Maeryn wasn't aware of the small smile plastered on his face as he listened. He met Astra's eyes and mouthed to her, "Hear that?"

Eris was clearly a capable and powerful elf. Annya was giving him five minutes before she went back to the Inn to see the others and somehow apologize for all this. She could smell a bullshit artist a mile away and Kaleb reeked. "Where are we going? Specifically."She had demanded. However, that was when a red-haired dwarf approached. Annya's body language had taken a guarded manner until his words slowly made her relax.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, Princess Annya. My name is Bron Emberguard. I have been sent from your friends at Iron Hold."

"Oh, um, it's okay, Bron Emberguard. Thank you so much for coming all this way." Annya managed a smile and quickly patted down her hair,"I'm sorry. Our friend went missing so we're a little worried, but we're alright. However." She let out a sigh, almost assuring herself with her next words, "She's a powerful light elf who will find her way back to us certainly. Were you sent here to accompany Arn?"

Annya figured Arn was back with the others still. What if something happened? Had she received any calls from her transmission bracelet? Raven had revealed herself today and the stakes were high. "You know what. Let's all go back together to the others. Arn is there and I have to make sure everyone is alright. You can tell us about yourself on the way, Bron." Her gaze fell on Kaleb. He was going to give them a hard time possibly, but he was ready to fight him on it.

Time: Night
Location: River Fairy Kingdom
Interactions: Aiko @CitrusArms Orias @Helo Xavier @Potter
Equipment:Outfit Xavier bought Pouch with amas, Lipstick, Mysterious bag of fun drugs

Orias's words and his demeanor, in general, made Yuka laugh. He was always so serious and for what reason? Because war was serious? They were going to have to do something about him. She wondered when Orias had last experienced joy. "Yeah duh. Gotta go somewhere popular if we want to get a sense of things, but try to smile, Orias. This war's only just begun and so has the fun."

Her gaze slid to Aiko as they had entered. Their arm had found its way around her. What game are you playing, little fox? Despite her thoughts, she grinned and snaked both her arms around their neck. "You're fond of me aren't you?" Yuka smoothly crooned, pressing herself up against their body. Her eyes searched Aiko's for a moment and she decided to give their cheek a lick before letting go with a giggle. Since the room was mostly filled with fairies, eyes had been falling on all of them in fact with curiosity. She gestured Orias to come close so she could tell both him and Aiko in a hushed voice, "Split off and socialize. Fairies love to escape reality. Take your time getting into their good graces before bringing up the war. Use that royal charisma of yours, Orias."

The music in the Pretty Flower was rather upbeat and she did not hesitate to start dancing sensually on the floor with a smile on her face. Slowly, she unattached the cape from her clothing and let it fall as she moved into a crowd of dancing fairies. It was a crowd of six or so and it worked out that one female was a fan of her clothing even. All of them had obviously been drinking for a while now and she had no problem jumping right in. It wasn't very difficult to get someone to buy her a drink nor was it to encourage the others to keep drinking. After chatting and flirting with both the men and women, she eventually felt as if they liked her well enough to start her antics.

Yuka bounded up to the bar abruptly and sat herself up on it with crossed legs. She held up her empty glass and started hitting a spoon against it until she had everyone's attention. "You know me, you love, Yuka Hanami."She greeted with a grin. "Here I am all the way from Roshmi. Had to flee it was so awful over there. Just wanted to say thank you to those who run this bar for comforting me with such a grand time."

"Awful? Are you okay?" While others seemed confused, the crowd she had befriended was now in front of her. And as planned, a few others began to crowd around with interest simply because there was a crowd in the first place.

"No... No I'm not." Her smile dropped. "Roshmi's sided with the dark elves... and thinks are looking rather bleak...But the good news is you guys are going to stand up to them, right?" They looked at each other uncertainly as she smiled at them.

"We... We don't know what our King and Queen are going to do."

"Oh? And what do you want to do?"

The quiet tp tp of feet outside the window made Kharne's ears flick. He went over to the window and leaned out and caught a glimpse of Red running off. His hands flexed on the window-sil, pulverizing the wood beneath his hands as anger coursed through him. What was with these humans?! Did they not understand that they were massive targets right now and there were ways of canceling magic or magical objects?! He'd question if they were ignorant but that was obvious, this wasn't their world. But their own had to have dangers as well right?

Breathing in deeply and exhaling with his eyes closed he tried to calm himself. He was not going to try and herd cats, there were consequences to actions and that girl could damn well learn them the hard way. "Healers are always good, magical and medical." He rumbled, the two could help in different ways. Both types of healing could only do so much after all.

Turning to face them he planted his ass on the broken wood and crossed his arms across his chest. "I'm sure she has a plan, but she wanted to get them acclimated a little to our world. It's a lot to take in, going from no magic to suddenly being able to summon a tornado at will." He replied before sighing. Annya seriously should have followed close after he and Ismael had escorted the girls back to the room.

Then came the question of if he smoked. "I do not, I don't like having less control of myself or having slower reaction times. Nevermind the fact you'd need a lot of it to even affect me." He rumbled in response before sighing. "She better hurry up before I start training these two myself...light to start with..." He growled, showing clear signs of irritation.

Time: Night Time
Location: Inn by the Sea

Armor:
A full suit of Steel Half Plate & a
Steel Targe
Steel Half Plate
Weapon(s):
Steel Longsword

Inventory: A rogue-ish set of clothing, his dog tags, and a set of faux demihuman Wolf ears, a Ring of Disguise, two rations of food, water flask, a bar of soap and a few other portable hygienic products.

Ismael tossed a nod to Kharne when he spoke about mercenary work pays better, it was very true, and he knew that. The pay for a Small Arms repairman working for the military and with the military is night and day. Even with this light conversation and then the introduction of 2 new party members, Ismael had a bad feeling, like the night was going to get annoying.

Ismael and Kharne had gotten into an argument with Sairose, 'Great, you wanna run off too? Y'all have a few fucking screws loose'. Rue spoke up after her maybe 20th or so check on Sairose asking a slightly strange but valid question, "Do we have wolves? Hmm…". Ismael wanted to play up the idea of mystery, maybe get a little few chuckles out of it as he then said, "…Hmm, we do have wolves, but they are much bigger than the ones I've seen here. They are much bigger, and meaner, they had larger teeth that are the same size of my arm. And they can swallow you whole in one bite".

Ismael continued on this little rant about how dangerous the wolves were as he began to notice each person around him. Kharne, Bowyn, and Rue all have very different physiology, their bodies looked human-like, yet they had features very different to what he knows. As he continued to speak about the big paws that could smash boulders and a nose that can smell fear, he began to take notice of the features on each person. Maybe different reactions can occur based upon what emotions he invokes.

Yet as he spoke, he noticed Kharne almost staring out the window and thought back to the argument they had with Sairose. Thankfully it settled down and she promised to not head off and make them…'and there she goes'. Ismael almost curses out loud as she literally ran off on her own without even telling them. The only reason he noticed before Kharne explicitly stated it was because he caught Kharne's ear twitching while Ismael was taking note of Kharne's features.

Ismael tossed himself back onto the bed and sighed in frustration. Ismael just listened for a moment, as he heard Kharne speak about Sairose and them coming to this world and Ismael spoke up as he laid there, "Yeah it is a bit to take in-", Ismael let another sigh out as he continued, "-yeah she probably has a plan, she seems a little smarter than to just run off to god knows where and get captured". Ismael then turned over onto his side as he looked towards the group more, he looked to both Bowyn and Rue as he said, trying to switch the topic away from Kharne sulking, "So how did you two meet?"

Bardulf

Time: Nighttime
Location: German countryside ---> River Fairy Kingdom - West of River Port
Interactions: None other than NPCs
Mentions: None
Equipment: Bouquet of yellow daises, common smallclothes w/ Leather Armor layered over, tooth-laden necklace, and a halberd.

Bardulf had been walking for a short while, the walk to his cabin wasn't really that far, but with all that had happened he could feel his paces growing longer and slower. His eyes were in a haze, staring at the ground as he watched each foot heavily plop onto the ground. His mind was clearly elsewhere, not even noticing a shimmering yellow light begin to glow in front of him. Two lines slowly but surely connecting into an oval shape that seemed to fit his slouching stature perfectly. His hand lifted the bouquet in front of his hazy eyes, not even bothering to put in the effort to turn his head. As his focus shifted, he noticed the grass had turned much more vibrant than he was used to, and the sun that had been setting had suddenly fully hidden behind the landscape. Something was certainly off, and Bardulf finally broke out of his stupor to realize the shimmering doorway he had just walked through had already begun to close. His feet broke into a cold sprint, trying to catch the portal as it closed, but he had been just a hair too slow. He looked around in a panic when a calming voice rang out behind him.

"Well now, we almost lost you as soon as we had you. Don't be afraid, sir. We have summoned you with a purpose."

Bardulf shot around, his hand moving to grab for his halberd. He stopped, however, once he saw who had been speaking. A group of six white-robed figures gathered in a semi-circle faced the man. His eyes began to dart to each one, trying to take in their features and differences. Their heights were about the same, but their bodies and faces were hidden well behind the baggy robes and hoods that hid behind their faces. The figure in the middle spoke, his voice containing a calming base that vibrated in the air, as if trying to sing to Bardulf as he spoke.

"Your weapon is not needed on us, friend. But you may have need of it later on. Allow us to explain ourselves, give us a few mere minutes."

Another figure spoke, a female, speaking octaves above the previous person with a voice that seemed to ring even after she finished speaking. "This is a strange land to you I'm sure. But we have need of your help, sir. Your kind are very special here. Capable of weaving great elemental magics that our kind are not readily able to defend against."

Yet another voice spoke from the rightmost figure, containing a much deeper rumbling sound from his throat as he spoke. "A Great War is upon us. Each side will need warriors. That is why we called you here. Once all is said and done, we can easily send you back."

Bardulf raised his hand from grabbing the spear so that his palm faced them, ushering them to pause for the moment. "Just a moment...please. I-What the hell is wrong with my voice?" He spoke in a tongue not his own, very much confused at how he knew and understood what everyone, even himself had been saying.

The female spoke once more. "As part of the summoning, you've been...taught how to speak our tongue, but fret not. Once you return, your speaking will be entirely normal." She pauses, and in a faint whisper she lets out a few words, barely audible except to those immediately next to her. "...I hope..."

Bardulf lowers his hand, his stance remaining neutral. He had no real reason to trust these folks, but no reason to doubt them either. He looked back at the now empty space that once had the portal, and shook his head. "Well, I'm going to need some time before I can just....leap into some "Great War". But...I know that what you say contains some truth. I don't know what it is but there is a heavy tension in this air. I won't ask much, but I do feel some questions are in order." He walked a few more paces forward to approach the group, still unable to discern anything distinguishing about any of them, and began to ask an array of questions. How the land was, what are the people like. The species of animals, plants, people. His "powers" that he had no idea how to bring forth just yet. Many many questions over the next hour were spilled forth, and the group of robed people answered with due diligence.

They told Bardulf of the land of Avalia, the events of the first Great War, as well as the executions of the beloved leaders. They explained the basic principles of his magic, and a basic idea of what the general races and kingdoms that populated Avalia. They spoke of the plan of the Sun Elves to summon humans to aid their side, and how they were specifically sent by the Royal Court in order to sprinkle the presence of humans across the land to further confuse the Dark Elves. After they had imparted as much general knowledge as they felt necessary, the middle figure took out a backpack, tossing it towards Bardulf with a heavy thud as it slapped against the ground.

"Take that rucksack, head eastward to the trade city of River Port. You will certainly find some friends there...and potentially enemies. But our time is up, the Royal Court has need of us elsewhere. For now, we wish you farewell." With a motion from the middle figure, all the robed mages began to walk deeper into the woods, their robes still hiding their feet as if they were gliding across the ground.

Bardulf could only watch as they left, still having so many questions. But he had grown tired of all the talking from them, already feeling drained from the days work back home, on top of the grieving he had been feeling. He looked again to the bouquet he had planned to lay at his late wife's grave. He sighed and placed the flowers at the base of a nearby tree, kneeling by the tree and speaking softly to himself.

"Oh my sweet Kristine...What have I gotten myself into now. Please, watch over me. I know you'd want to see me come out of this old shell. And I think it's about I....'Lived a little for once' as you would always tell me." He let out a soft chuckle, and stood up, oddly finding a compelling sense of wonder as he gazed about the new lands before him. "I'll bring you back the most beautiful flower, just you watch."

He picked up the bag and checked its contents. One bedroll, a mess kit, a tinderbox, a waterskin, and several strange coins he believe were called "amas". An assortment of silver, gold, and even a single platinum pieces amongst the midst, he counted around 300 amas in total. He secured the bag and slung it over his shoulder, giving the daisies he left by the tree one last look and nodding before heading eastward towards this "River Port" he had heard about, ready to explore the land of Avalia like a proper huntsman.

Location: Tipsy Tavern!

Mentions: Arn, Aidan (RBF), Eris

The superstar was ready to take on River Port's nightlife for the second night in a row! All while keeping an eye out for Eris of course. A passive search with some active fun seemed reasonable enough. Eris was a woman who enjoyed a good time, so why wouldn’t she be wherever the fun was?

She did disappear as soon as Annya literally let loose everything she had to give… It just wasn’t what anyone wanted- Scratch that. It just wasn’t what anyone in there wanted. Kaleb shook his head with slight disgust before he glanced back at her. He was ready to poke the bear again with some more smack-talk as he felt he had every right to. She owed him that much.

“I'm sorry to disturb you, Princess Annya. My name is Bron Emberguard. I have been sent from your friends at Iron Hold.”

“Eh?” Kaleb was surprised by who he initially thought was Arn until he really took in the guy’s introduction. Bron Emberguard. He repeated mentally as if branding the identity into his memory. Best to let the real elf speak first. Can’t go ruining my act… but I have to at least tell Annya… That can wait a little longer though. The young man was in no rush to be subjected to what he would think was coddling. At least not until he wanted that.

Silently, he scoffed at Annya’s worry for Eris. He chose not to interject even though he really wanted to. Annya assuring herself definitely helped him keep quiet and avoid another round of sharp words. However, don’t be mistaken! Kaleb would butt heads with Annya if he felt like a situation was going in a direction he did not favor.

He sized up Bron as Annya continued. Hopefully he’s a better dwarf than Arn… Shit, the only person that might be just as unwanted as that guy is Miss RBF. One of Kaleb’s eyebrows suddenly perked up as he absorbed what Annya had just suggested. His gaze met hers. There was a lack of animosity, yet silent tension danced between the two like the gently passing breeze.

“Crazy.” He smiled smugly. “I was just about to suggest that.” Kaleb nodded agreeably before suddenly stopping with an unamused expression. “But of course, I didn’t because it’s stupid! You gonna bring Arn 2.0 here to everyone else just because he said he was sent by ‘friends?’” Kaleb’s eyes darted toward Bron. “Hey Bron, a bow and some soft words may work on her, but as her protector, you’re going to have to cough up a lot more than something any dwarf from here to Iron Hold could make up to please me.” Kaleb stepped slightly in front of Annya, adapting to the role he had just claimed. “You can tell us about yourself right here. Not like we have much of an audience outside the back door of a brothel.”

Astra successfully held back a chuckle after watching Maeryn’s reaction to her comment. He was much more fun to mess with than Vrexen. Messing with that demon was literally gambling with your life. Saying the right words and doing the right things weren’t enough. If that monster ever got into one of his fits, you couldn’t be in his way. I hope that violence of his never finds me. What he said pertaining to her usefulness never left her. Things said like that never did.

Value. To Astra, it defined a person. Amas, utility, and effectiveness were just a few measures of one’s worth in the world she knew. As much as she enjoyed Maeryn’s company so far, his existence threatened hers. I won’t die worthless. She had been so lost in her own concern, that she missed answering Maeryn’s question about Myra’s taste in food.

“She’s a full-on carnivore.” Her answer was late, but she wouldn’t let it just go unanswered. If things got too quiet, she was afraid Maeryn might start tossing unwanted questions her way. Fortunately, something else piqued his interest. The way he looked made her want to focus on listening in on whatever was being said.

“Hear that?”

“Ohhh, I did.” She glanced over her shoulder to catch the two men speaking. Both were forest fairies. “Fae… Even better. That type hates conflict. More likely to give up more information with a little coaxing in a back alley.” She kept her voice low as she spoke darkly. If one of those fairies saw the girl, then that would give them a description of one of the humans. Where there was one, there were sure to be others.

The server returned with their beverages and a smile, prepared to take their order. Despite serving dark elves, the experience wasn’t as bad as she predicted. One was quiet and direct, and the other was just so friendly.

“Here are your beverages!” She passed out each glass with Astra practically becoming giddy at the sight of her alaberry juice. It had always tasted better in the south. “And are you all ready to order?”

“Mhmm! I’ll have the Flame-winged Fowlkin and a Slime Day Cake to share between the three of us.“ Astra shot a wink at Maeryn. “You earned it with that precious smile, Maerie. Isn’t his smile adorable?”

Myra looked visibly relieved, nodding to Maeryn when she heard him saying they had to choose the food first, since his words meant that they would indeed eat something other than just water. That said, she wasn't really sure how they were going to do that. For some reason, instead of calling that cat-girl again and saying what they wanted, both Maeryn and Astra were intently observing a simple piece of folded paper. Unlike the papers Myra had taken before when she was searching for a 'map', these ones just had a lot of squiggly lines. After a quick observation, leaning towards both Maeryn and Astra to take a look at the thing they were holding, Myra quickly realized that both pieces of paper were exactly the same, even the squiggly lines were similar.

Despite Myra's careful observation and regardless of how much she looked at those folded papers, she simply couldn't understand what they meant or even if they meant anything at all. Fortunately, there was a much easier for Myra to ask what she wanted than to decode those strange squiggly lines. The moment Maeryn asked Astra if Myra would be satisfied with meat, followed by Astra's quick reply, Myra immediately nodded her head. She didn't really know what a 'Fulon Karni-vor' was, but she definitely loved to eat meat.

Regardless of the meaning of that mysterious word Astra said though, Maeryn seemed to quickly understand what Myra liked to eat, as he pointed towards a big, fragrant piece of meat that one of the people who worked at that place were carrying and asking if she wanted it.

"Meat, like!" Myra said with a satisfied expression, looking to both Maeryn and Astra, just before the cat-girl from earlier arrived again, carrying the drinks Astra and Maeryn had ordered and asking what they were going to eat.

Having already made her 'choice', Myra expectantly looked at Astra and Maeryn, waiting for one of them to tell the cat-girl what meat Myra wanted.

With both of the bandits which tried to attack Nuallán now having collapsed in the desert sand, their blood staining the sands with a deep crimson, Nuallán was able to quickly relocate nearer to where Jomari was. Despite having swiftly dealt with two bandits, there were still the Rhino, the scorpion, the crocodile and the Ibis demi-human, the latter which had dodged Nuallán's throwing knife and was finally recovering from Jomari's previous attack.

Despite having being struck by the Rhino's strange power, Jomari still seemed to be relatively unharmed, thanks to the sand shield he was hastily able to conjure just before being struck. Even though Jomari was able to deal with the first attacks, it didn't mean he would be able to resist for too long without Nuallán's help. The human didn't seem to be used to his powers yet and now that the bandits knew about his powers, they would definitely focus their attention on him.

Before Nuallán could say anything else though, Jomari suddenly shouted for him to close his eyes. Predicting the wide area sand attack that Jomari was probably about to use, Nuallán quickly shielded his eyes, just before the sand under the bandits' feet exploded, sending the scorpion flying and making both the Ibis and the Rhino recoil. Quickly regaining his bearings after the explosion, Nuallán saw Jomari sliding towards the Ibis bandit and immediately plunging his dagger directly at her back, causing her to immediately fall to her knees, heavily wounded, but not yet dead.

Leaving the Ibis bandit to Jomari, Nuallán turned his attention on the Crocodile and the Rhino bandits, which despite the initial shock from Jomari's sand attack, had recovered from it and now took a solid defensive posture.

"Well... It seems we are not being underestimated anymore." Nuallán said with a cruel tone on his voice as he looked at the Rhino and the Crocodile bandits.

"Finish the Ibis and keep your eyes open for the Scorpion." Nuallán said to Jomari as he kept his eyes on the Rhino and the Crocodile, waiting for their next move.

Isolde Ryder

Time: Night
Location: River Port Beach

Disguises would have helped immensely, especially if it meant she could breathe for more than a minute at a time. Hearing them all talk to the newcomer as casually as they would each other was disarming in a sense. Isolde felt safer than she had since she first arrived in Avalia the other night now that she was around other humans who actually understood her situation. Elemental magic, summoning, a war, disguises, it was all starting to come together as a picture in her mind. Isolde wasn’t many things, but she was one to push through rough moments; she wouldn’t be alive right now if she didn’t have plenty of grit. These two were brothers from earth. The fox-man was a native of Avalia. This Aidan girl was probably a human given she mentioned being in a disguise. Isolde felt a lot more at peace now that there were others around. If she stuck with these people, she’d have numbers and maybe even a sense of composure from being in a group.

”Okay…right. I need a disguise. I need to stay hidden from dark elves because light elves are fighting them and they need help. Okay. I get it now.” She looked down at her hands again, and this time she made the sparks come to her fingers. Clarity in this moment meant clarity in the mind. The way the energy flowed, the way she could reach for the particles to take hold…it felt clear on this night.

”And I’m supposed to figure this out and put it to good use. Lightning at my fingertips to win a war. I think… I think I can do that.” Maybe she couldn’t, but she also couldn’t just stand on this beach and do nothing at this point.

”My name is Isolde Ryder, by the way. I think I should with you guys since you know what you’re doing better than me right now.”

Menzai Isanami

Time: Morning

Location: River Port beach

Interactions: Isolde @Blizz Dante, Darius @Alivefalling @FunnyGuy Aiden @Potter
Mentions:

Equipment: White Haori, Gauravian luck charm bracelet

He continued to observe and listen as the three did their introductions then explanation to help Isolde make sense of things. During this time the wolf was pondering on the next course of action would be best for the group when sounds of footsteps encroaching reached his ears.

Before long another newcomer approached, a female elf at first sight, but her scent was unmistakably human and as such Menzai saw no need to act. Still, he remained on-guard since this human could be dangerous. Without even needing to ask, the woman offered her own introduction then giving away the reasoning behind her appearance having to do with a magical ring which had him intrigued and certain to inquire about at a later time. Even more peculiar was Aidan's accent as it was a bit thick and not like any spoken in this realm though did recall reading of something similar from the books.

It was strange and unexpected to find himself already encountering five humans when it hasn't even been a week since his departure from his village. This was not a good thing for a group of this size would make traveling difficult, especially when it consisted of humans who were incapable of defending themselves or yet gained proficiency in the use of their magic. And while the disguise ring may offer some protection, they were nothing more than a short-term solution.

Taking all this into consideration, Menzai came to his conclusion as he finally stepped forward where he first offered a respectful bow to the group." Greetings. To the newcomers, the name is Menzai Isanami, Wolf Demi-human from the village of Guarav." Wanting to give a full and proper introduction before doing anything else then glanced at each of the humans in turn studying their features and scent before continuing." As each of you have come to know, there is the threat of war looming and demons hunting those of your kind. These threats may merely be a prelude to further dangers that lie beyond. It is likely because of these harrowing situations that the light elves have deemed to summon humans once more to aid in saving the realms." Observing them as he explained the current circumstances of which even he did not fully know.

" But, I wish to state this that while you were all summoned for said purpose does not mean any of you or others will be forced or required to do so. And so, I give the suggestion of venturing to my village where those who do not which to fight safety and sanctuary. Of course, if your wish is to join in the endeavors to aid our world then I will accompany those who choose to do so. Yet, I do still suggest coming with me to Guarav, if not for sanctuary but to have a safe place to train and become accustomed with your magic." This was his suggestion after being asked to give recommendation on what to do and once finished gave another bow of his head.

Now it was left up to the humans to decide what they wanted to do. Menzai role here was merely to protect and give guidance with the intend to observe and document the events surely to unfold from this point forward.

Battle in the Desert BGM

A stinging pain suddenly enveloped Kuroi's shoulder just as he was engaged by the rapier-wielding elf. With no time to curse himself for his cocky behavior, he let the elf come in close for a stab to his abdomen. Just as the blade was about to turn him into a shish-kebab, the Vulpine parried the blade late, allow it it to graze his side so he could get into his opponent's guard. Having only moved forward after taking a glancing blow to the left side of his abdomen, Kuroi thrust his knife directly into the side of the elf's neck. Regardless of whether or not he had been successful, he quickly turn around and stepped out of the crossbowman's aim. If his knife was still dug into the elf's neck, then he used her as a body shield of sorts from both of the ranged fighters.

"Alright, alright, I've given two of you free blows and they've gone to waste. Come on and stop hiding with your tail between your legs!" exclaimed Kuroi, keeping the elf's body close to him (if he still had ahold of her, that was). He kept his fan drawn for offense, keeping it near his head to have at least some sort of minimal protection against any projectiles. He glanced at however many enemies remained, making sure to stay vigilant as he ignored the searing pain in his should. Kuroi would definitely have to check for poison in his system after this altercation.

Sophie had giggled as the scene played out. It was nice to see the two of them joking around and happy. She slid to her feet and waved as she addressed them, "I'm glad you two are back. What did you do while you were out?" Caelan had greeted them as well and then informed them that he needed a nap. She watched him crawl into the bed and pull the blanket over himself in exhaustion. She blinked in confusion at the sudden decision but turned her head back to the others all the same.

“Hey Bron, a bow and some soft words may work on her, but as her protector, you’re going to have to cough up a lot more than something any dwarf from here to Iron Hold could make up to please me.” Kaleb stepped slightly in front of Annya. “You can tell us about yourself right here. Not like we have much of an audience outside the back door of a brothel.”

Bron's eyebrows furrowed towards the boy, a hand falling to the top of one of his axes that was tied to his belt. "We don't have time for your impudence, boy." The Dwarf almost growled towards Kaleb as his facial expression was quickly beginning to darken. Bron was beginning to get a little frustrated so soon. The Ranger felt as if he was the only one that understood the gravity of Avalia's state of affairs... yet here a Princess and her retinue tasked with protecting the humans had seemingly just been carousing without a care in the world. "My duty is to the King of Iron Hold first and, as a Ranger, to Avalia second. That is why I am here and I am in no mood to fight you on the matter."

"... I am not your enemy, but those that are will come for us. Does that satisfy your question?" He added in a vague attempt to drop the matter and get back to business.

Bardulf Siegfried

Time: Nighttime
Location: River Port
Interactions: Annya @princess, Kaleb @FunnyGuy, and Bron @Gingerboi123
Equipment: Leather armor over smallclothes, tooth necklace, halberd, and

Bardulf wandered from the forests edge into town, still bewildered by the sudden change of pace. He had just been on the way to visit his late wife's grave and now he found himself in some magical world. It was simply a lot for him to take in. He pulled the hood of his cloak over his head and kept to the side of the road as he entered town. He gazed at whatever signs he could, seeing a weird language that he somehow understood perfectly. Must be more of that magic those robed people were talking about... He thought to himself, still sticking to the darker edge of the street to avoid any unwanted attention. After hanging a left and walking a few more blocks however, he would find that he wasn't the only one on the streets this late at night.

A younger boy with a lighter hair color stood in front of an incredibly well-dressed woman. Ignoring the seemingly perfect features and the very innocuous point and length to her ears before turning his eyes towards the much smaller figure who stood across from them both. Their red hair stood out the most to Bardulf, who had seen a few people with such hairstyles back home from the north. Perhaps they too, were from his homeland? He had several questions, and his nerves were winning the best of him, telling him to just keep moving along. He stopped walking, staring at their growing confrontation for several moments too long, bordering on awkward levels of time as he just stood frozen with anxiety. Just...say...hi...You're overthinking this. He finally took one step forward and approached the trio.

"He...Hello there. You wouldn't happen to know much about this town would you? I am...new around here. I'm just looking for a place to stay and any kind of information you're willing to share. I hope I am not interrupting anything?" He spoke somewhat meekly, his bass-filled voice contrast to his volume and overall tone of voice as he tried to speak as politely as he could to the folks who he gathered must be having a moment. But he was more or less out of options at this moment so against his better judgement he decided to risk any altercation just to figure out anything he could.

Time: Night
Location: River Fairy Kingdom -The Pretty Flower
Interactions: A couple of locals
Equipment: Sword, bow and arrows, small knife, wayfinder, fire kit, a pouch of amas, transmission bracelet

Orias moved through The Pretty Flower, slowly taking it all in. It was a lively place, packed full of fairies who danced, drank, and laughed with ease. Yuka’s explanation, that fairies enjoyed an escape from reality held true. Who could blame them? Who wanted to face the reality they were all heading towards.

Orias certainly didn’t, he found soon himself at the bar with a glass of mead in front of him. Just need to loosen up a bit, he told himself. He was lost in a sea of unfamiliar faces and he clung to his glass as if it were his last lifeline.

He could understand the fae mentality, he’d take another reality over his own right about now. Maybe another night away from being Prince Orias, from having to think about war and all that came with it. A break from worrying about family he hadn’t seen in decades, from wondering if he ever would see them again. He finished a glass of the sweet-tasting mead faster than he’d intended. His cup was quickly filled to the brim by a smiling fairy.

He thought of how he should've stayed in Roshmi, kept his fake name and fake life, searching for ways to make the dark elf occupation just a little more complicated. He wouldn’t have to be responsible for a human boy lost in a world he did not belong to, wouldn’t be negotiating with allies on behalf of a kingdom and family he’d left behind. Another was glass emptied only to be refilled.

No one asked for his help, certainly not his own family. They wouldn’t want to see him, wouldn’t want him meddling in anything important. The Biren name had remained scandal-free since he left, they were all better off believing him dead. Another glass was emptied and refilled.

This was selfish. What did he think he could fix? Who was he to think he could go around playing hero when he was anything but one.

And it was too late to stop. He’d already thrown his name out, and already made deals with Augus. It was all happening too fast, too much responsibility. He glanced around for his companions, two familiar faces that, really, he barely knew anyway. They both seemed distracted, both would get along so much easier with the free-spirited fae. His eyes moved towards the door, an easy path out of all this. But what then? Orias finished another glass, he looked around again.

It took a long while before Orias left the bar to make his attempts at mingling. It took some awkward walks around the room before he found a group he felt comfortable enough to approach.

“...so there I was right, out on fishing by the stream, when I see the biggest Owlbear I’ve ever seen lunging on towards me. Teeth all snapping and sharper than any I’ve seen.” At a table two fairies sat, one, a lanky looking with a boyish face, telling a story.

“No way you fought an Owlbear, you’re full of shit.” The other fae said. This man was more muscular with harsher features.

“Let me finish. On my life, this happened just the other day. So there I was, deep in the forest, and it’s getting late and I can barely see enough to fly off without hitting a tree or something. I’m thinking, how do I get out of here, I’m a fast one but no way am I outrunning this thing and I can’t risk hitting some big ol’ branch and knocking myself out.”

“Now look whatcha done, drawin’ in a crowd with them damn fishin’ stories.” The brawny fairy shook his head as he looked at Orias. “You look like you’ve seen an owlbear or two in your day tell this twiggy bastard he’s full of it.”

“I kind of want to hear the story.” Orias said.

“Hey now, that’s the attitude I wanna see. Sit down bud.” The skinny kid slapped the table and scooted over to make room for Orias.

“So as I was sayin’, I see this owlbear lunging straight at me, and hand to Xylia I heard this owlbear scream a single word at me,” The skinny kid paused for dramatic effect. “Leave.” The fairy screamed the word with a guttural voice, imitating the sound he had heard from the alleged owlbear.

“You can’t talk to owlbears, you can’t barely talk to that cat o’ yours.” The second fairy interjected again.

“Swear on my life. No more interruptions, you’re disturbing the guest. He likes my story.” Orias just nodded and so the fairy continued his tale.

“Anyways, I hear that and somehow I just know what this creature’s all about, and boy am I in trouble. So summon up every branch, root, and vine I can muster to hold this big o’ beastie back, and it’s braking through them like it’s all nothing. But it bought me time, so while that owlbear’s all tangled up I turn to run outta there and damn near trip over another owlbear right near me. A little ol’ baby cub, cute as a button it was, and damn sure I was right about the first one, just an angry mama. Lucky for me I’m quick with the ol’ wings and I hop right over the little guy and use that boost to get my ass outta sight just as I hear the last bunch of vines, roots, and branches snapping like crazy. Pissed myself I was so scared.” The first fairy finally got to the end of his story.

“Now that last part I’d believe.” The second one said with a chuckle.

“Now you shut your big gob, I know what I saw and I’m tellin’ you something out there’s got the critters acting all sorts of crazy. I ain’t never seen nothing like that so close to the kingdom. World’s gone all topsy turvy.”

“That is most certainly true.” Orias voiced his agreement.

“This guy gets it. You come down from the Sun Elf lands pal?” The first fairy asked.

“Got a name?” The second fairy added.

“Course he’s got a name, everybody’s got one. Silly question. Name’s Gil.”

“Alvaro.”

“Orias. Came over from Roshmi.”

“Roshmi, now that place’s gone to shit. They just handed right over to those dark elf bastards, not a bit of fight in that damn king.” Gil’s eyes widened at the mention of Roshmi, and he spoke with the same excitement as he had when he told his owlbear story.

“That they did.” Alvaro agreed, clearly more troubled by the subject than Gil.

“A real shame, but your sort’s got a handle on it huh?” Gil asked.

“We hope so, can’t do it alone though.” Orias admitted.

“Right, makes sense. I’d like to see those bastards get what's coming, after what they did.” Alvaro spoke with fire in his words. Orias nodded, A good sign, there were at least a few fairies more than ready to go to war.

“Aye, poor Echo.” Gil said speaking softly for the first time since Orias had sat down. A sad smile crossed the face of the youthful fae.

“To a fine prince.” Alvaro said raising his glass, the other two did the same before drinking.

“The finest. You know, I went fishin’ with that lad once, let me tell you he reeled him in a fish bigger than I ever seen.” Gil moved his hands as far apart from one another indicating that this alleged fish was much larger than even the average dwarf.

“You ain’t never went fishin' with Prince Echo.” Alvaro said with a grin and shake of his head.

“On my life I did. Anyway, he was a real good kid.” Gil took another drink and tried to lift the sad smile back up.

“I’m just waiting for the orders, nothin’ would bring me more joy than to join up with your lot and make them bastards pay.” Alvaro said with a stern nod.

“Don’t know what’s taking so long, we shoulda be marching right after we saw that damn broadcast.” Gil muttered.

“They’re just grieving is all. One son gone, one gone rotten.” Alvaro replied, and Gil flinched slightly at the mention of the one gone wrong.

“So what brings you to River Kingdom?” Gil asked.

“Hoping to convince your King that now is the time to act.” Orias saw no reason to lie.

“No shit? You one of them important elves?” Gil asked and they both seemed interested in his answer.

“Not really. Just got something important I’ve got to do.” Orias continued to talk to the two fairies who he learned were cousins and who were more than willing to share their thoughts on the war. Alvaro was a seasoned soldier of the River Kingdom and Gil was a musician who, after the broadcasted murder of Prince Echo, was planning to enlist.

Time: Night
Location: Desert
Interactions: Nuallán @13org, Bandits @FunnyGuy
Equipment: A dagger, fake elf ears, a ring of disguise, and a bag full of supplies

Jomari could feel the dagger sink into the flesh of the ibis demi-human. He stabbed her on her back and when he pulled his dagger out, it was covered in the glistening blood of his enemy. The scorpion was nowhere to be seen while the rhino and the crocodile stood shoulder to shoulder with Nuallán facing them by himself. The elf told Jomari to finish the ibis and keep an eye out for their remaining enemy.

Jomari grabbed the ibis's head and she would grunt in pain. She grabbed his wrist and tried to break free but she was weakened by her wound and the significant amount of blood she lost. He hesitated for a bit. He did need to 'silence' some of his target's soldiers sometimes in order not to be caught but it wasn't in his line of work, per se. Should he count this ibis as collateral damage as well?

"Pick a safer job in your next life." He said to the demi-human in a bored tone as he pressed the edge of his dagger against her neck and sliced it quickly, letting the ibis gasp and grunt as the life drained from her eyes while more of her blood was spilled. Jomari let go of her neck and let her limp body fall down, watching as her blood mixed with the sands. With a wave of his hand, the ibis's corpse was enveloped in layers of sand, never to be seen again.

He turned his attention to the rhino and the crocodile. With a snap of his fingers, the sand below them loosened in Jomari's attempt to hopefully suck their bodies below in the sand until only their heads remained sticking out.

Tigerlily

Time: Morning
Interaction: Barboda @Alivefalling, Helio @princess
Tesoro aka “Rat” @Infinite Cosmos, Nym @helo
Location: Aboard the Harem, Dining Hall

Tigerlily sat in the dining room with her legs over the table’s edge while leaning back in her chair. Her mane of blue hair laid around her. In one hand was a bottle of rum and the other a seashell she kept fiddling with. There were a few of them around her now as she seemed to be growing a collection. Her mind raced with the events of the day. Ardyn’s crew and the murderous rage and loathing she had for him, Lizzie dead, and finally, Bastian and Faye kidnapped. Helio’s desperate plea to save them only hurt worse. The idea of visiting Roshmi made her skin crawl and for her to push away long forgotten memories. Then, the guilt would creep in, and she’d take another sip of rum and before she knew it, she had a collection growing. Distantly, she heard her name and glanced up.

There was a pause, and then she registered the speaker's words. ”I’m fine,” she replied without thinking her words through. Yes, fine, but she hated lying. He wouldn’t understand... The mixed feelings inside of her threatened to explode, but she replaced it with a flirtatious smile. ”No I didn’t, thanks to the Rat. How are you?” She took another swig of her rum and set her seashell down absentmindedly, noticing that briefly, one of the edges was sharper than the rest.
