Time: Mid-morning
Location: Riverbloom along the bank of the river.

Jaw set firmly and tired of being turned into a manipulative cur, Rowan stands and prepares to leave.

"I will not sit idly by and be treated as the villain for trying to give you the best chance at survival. If you cannot see me for anything other than someone trying to "use" you just because the word came from my mouth, then you shall be left to your own devices and freedoms. Now, I will return to our place by the river and give you some time. If you wish to continue your training, you are welcome to come."

Stiffly, he bows to Zora before offering a soft kiss to Aurora's head knowing he need not say that he will find her regardless of Zora's decision. He then turned on his heel and left the bakery frustrated, glaring at anyone who turned their attention onto him.

Some time later, he finds himself trudging along the riverbank, lost in his thoughts and musings when he finds a new resident of the clearing they had been using for practice. It was none other than the orc that they had observed in the city proper. He was fishing. Proper fishing with the little stool and everything. In order to not startle the orc, Rowan stepped on a twig, snapping it to announce his entrance into the clearing.

"Peace friend" He speaks out as the orc turns his attention his way. "I was not expecting fellow company. See, we had been using this clearing for some training and practice, but if it is taken, allow me to wait for my companions and we shall find another space."

While saying this, Rowan walks over to where his gear had been stashed, first retrieving his bow. The fairy made bow felt free in his hands here, it could sense its home and was content. Oddly enough though, he felt no hostility from it towards the orc. Deciding to trust the instinct, he returned to the riverbank as he strung the bow across his back and adjusted his shortswords on his hips as he settled to sit near the orc.

Amisra couldn't help but let out a soft laugh at Arlen's playful enthusiasm and vivid imagination. His description of their extravagant lifestyle and the playful innuendos made her cheeks flush slightly, but she quickly composed herself. She was accustomed to their teasing dynamic, knowing that it was all in good fun and never meant to be taken too seriously.

As Arlen's fingers lightly brushed against hers, she felt a tingling sensation run through her, the lingering touch sending a shiver down her spine. His nuzzle against her cheek brought a warm smile to her lips, appreciating their close friendship and the comfort they found in each other's presence.

Inwardly, Amisra acknowledged the fine line they treaded with their playful banter and occasional flirtation. She valued their friendship immensely, and the thought of crossing into a romantic involvement had crossed her mind before. But she’d always quickly squashed those thoughts as she understood the importance of maintaining their current dynamic and not complicating their living situation. Besides, she wasn’t all that interested in romance anyways…or at least that’s what she kept telling herself.

She glanced at Arlen, her eyes meeting his for a brief moment, and she couldn't help but wonder if he ever entertained similar thoughts. Yet, they both seemed content with their playful camaraderie, finding amusement in their own personal drama show and the continuous teasing of Tanithil.

Returning her focus to the conversation at hand, Amisra agreed with Arlen about their captain's tendency to be a spoilsport, though she knew it was necessary for their mission. She nodded in agreement, her expression showing a mixture of understanding and amusement.

"He can be quite the stickler, but we know he has our best interests at heart," Amisra replied, her voice tinged with affection for their captain. "And besides, we have a week here, so we'll find plenty of time for fun and relaxation once our duties are fulfilled." She squeezed Arlen's hand briefly, a reassuring gesture, before following him towards The Seagull.

When they entered the tavern, Amisra followed Arlen's lead and settled herself at the table with Captain Drosis and their mates. She leaned back comfortably in her chair, crossing her legs as she glanced around, taking in the familiar atmosphere of the place. The worn-out paint and the presence of seagulls reminded her of the countless memories they had created here.

Turning her attention back to Captain Drosis as he began speaking, Amisra's playful expression shifted into a focused one. She listened attentively to his words, recognizing the seriousness of the task at hand. The potential consequences of Ismael's presence being exposed were significant, and it was their duty to prevent that from happening.

"I understand, Captain," Amisra replied, her tone firm and determined. "Keeping Ismael's true identity undisclosed is crucial. Arlen and I will discreetly monitor the guards, paying close attention to any unusual behavior or conversations. If we come across any mentions of humans or suspicions about Ismael, we'll immediately inform you."

She met Captain Drosis's gaze directly, her eyes reflecting her dedication to the task. "Rest assured, Captain, we won't allow the secret to be compromised. We'll shadow the guards, gather information, and ensure that it remains within our circle. And if the need arises, we'll handle any potential threats swiftly and effectively. That is if Arlen is willing to help?"

Amisra glanced briefly at Arlen, silently conveying her trust and confidence in their ability to carry out the mission successfully. Then she turned her attention back to the captain, waiting for any further instructions or details he might have.

Amisra was prepared to give her all to protect their crewmate and uphold the secrecy of Ismael's presence in Vanarosa. She understood the gravity of the situation and was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, relying on her skills, Arlen's support, and the guidance of Captain Drosis.

Eyes, being the window to the soul and all, were a constant challenge for Jun. His weak soul made every gaze feel like staring into the scorching sun. Anger, disappointment, or shame transformed the sunrays into sharp chisels, chipping away at his spirit.

Encountering those kinds of gazes wasn't new. Malachi never missed a chance to shoot him a look filled with some flavor of anger or disappointment. Now, the purple-dressed stranger mirrored that all-too-familiar glint.

She hid it well under that smile, but that's what most socially competent people did, wasn't it? Tolerate people like Jun.

They all tolerated him because they needed a human for the story campaign. LARPing was supposed to be escapism. Why would anyone want to be a vanilla human, when that only reminded players of reality? And here was this damn idiot ruining their fun. Why can't he just play along? Inconsiderate ass. What a waste of space, a waste of time. Useless, even in a world of make-believe. Pathetic.

The surrounding conversation buried the whispered, "... I'm sorry."

A cancerous ball, the size of a marble, lodged somewhere between his heart and throat, began to spread. His breathing picked up speed as his body made a head start to that dark place where his mind always went.

"I'm sorry." He should've listed what he was apologizing for, but he could barely squeeze out two simple words before he rushed back into the house. He didn't even dare look at Zion or Enstille, too afraid to see what he might find reflected in their eyes.

When he reached the dining table, Jun was wheezing like he completed a marathon as an asthmatic. He slumped into the chair at the farthest end, clutching his backpack against his chest as negative thoughts continued their invasion.

Such a drama queen. It's not that big of a deal. Come on dude, man up. What kind of adult couldn't handle a little eye contact? There are people out there who dealt with a lot worse than you ever have or ever will. Get over it. Why does it always end up being about you? Snowflake. Stop wallowing in your own self-pity. People don’t have time for your fragile ego and your constant need for reassurance. You're such a disappointment. So worthless. You know they don't actually need you, specifically, right? You're replaceable. Nobody will miss you when you're gone. Not here, not back home. They probably haven't noticed you've been missing the entire week—...

A violent clatter jerked Jun out of the quicksand. The wind hammered against the window, demanding entry. He held his breath. When nothing else happened, he exhaled sharply, releasing the pent-up tension, and inhaled deeply, surrendering to his body's need for oxygen. The sensation of his lungs expanding and contracting grounded him.

As his breathing settled into a steady rhythm, Jun's attention drifted from the window and landed on a bunny-shaped stain on the table. He chose the cute blotch as his point of focus.

Inhale. Exhale. Repeat. With each breath, the window-rattling and invasive voices quieted down, until both faded into silence.

Lost in his task, Jun remained oblivious to the fact that the wind knocked only the window nearest to him—while all others stood silent.

Time: Morning
Location: Forest near Guarav Village
Interactions: Cyrus @Helo, Ophelia @princess, Dante @FunnyGuy Darius @Samreaper Menzai

Together with Cyrus' branches, despite the sheer might of the Roc, both he and Viola were able to hold on into it's legs, even if for a brief moment. Unfortunately, their attempt didn't seem to encourage the Roc to stop pursuing them. Infuriated, the Roc began beating it's wings, making powerful gusts of wind as it tried to get free from the vines and branches. As if the winds weren't already strong enough, forcing Viola to use her blood rose's vines to tether her to the ground to prevent her to being thrown away by those, the extremely loud screech let off by the Roc was loud enough to make her head seem like it was going to burst. Both the winds and the screech were quickly sapping away at Viola's concentration and stamina. Competing against the Roc in a battle of attrition was definitely not an option.

"Cyrus... I can't hold on for much longer..." Viola said as she did her best to hold down the Roc while keeping herself tethered to the ground, despite the twigs and wooden shrapnel flying through the air, results of the mighty winds produced by the Roc's wings.

It was exactly on that moment that two loud shouts could be heard just before a huge rock hit the roc straight in the chest. Alarmed, Viola looked to the two strange elves that suddenly approached them, not knowing if they were their allies or not. Fortunately, such question was soon answered as they spoke to Ophelia, in a tone that made it clear that they knew each other.

Hearing Ophelia's 'plan' made Viola visibly worried. She knew exactly how dangerous the Roc was and both versions of Ophelia's 'plan' involved putting herself into incredibly dangerous situations, where death was a very real possibility. Knowing that, Viola felt the desperation slowly taking over her mind. She couldn't lose Ophelia now... Not before she found out if she really forgot about them... Not before Viola herself had enough time to figure out what exactly were her feelings for Ophelia...

"Ophelia! Don't..." Viola said, looking to Ophelia and raising her arm at her just as she flew away.

While the stone had at least made the Roc stop it's screech, it didn't seem to do much to wound it or even dissuade it from continuing it's hunt and instead, seemed to only make it angrier as it suddenly snapped itself free from the vines and branches, before it flew straight upwards, doing a loop then dove straight down, swooping down just above the trees' canopies in a frightening speed and opening a huge clearing as it did so, looking for it's prey and potentially preparing an attack.

Cyrus could see in her expression, split between the decision of protecting her brother or going after Ophelia to be sure she wouldn't get hurt. Unable to decide herself, Viola simply looked towards Cyrus, her expression telling more than any word she could have said. Viola would never have acted out of her own free will to protect anyone... and Cypress knew that very well. The only exception was if that 'someone' was one of her siblings. Even if it meant offering her own blood to her Blood Rose or turn an entire city into a forest of thorns, blood and bodies, with her own body at the very center, she wouldn't hesitate to do anything if it meant protecting the family she had left.

Without the trees to protect them from an aerial attack from the Roc and with Ophelia going by herself, there was little doubt in her mind that both of them needed to move, quickly.

"Brother Cypress... We need to go as well..." Viola said with a determined expression as she looked towards Cyrus.

Well, peace and quiet lasted so long.

Barrock's eyes slid open to a menacing blood red hue, the lost black dot swimming through the blood making its way to lock vision with the man who just arrived, a light elf. He wasn't particularly hostile, which was a first and a plus to release tension from his eyes. But still, someone was taking this place? He hadn't heard of this since the last time he came here.

"Hmm."

His eyes closed to conceal the eye roll. It irked him quite a bit that someone were to be here, but after some thoughts, Barrock was technically irregular, and if they were to have used it for training purposes in the time he hadn't been here, they had more claims to stay.

It's not like he couldn't just be forceful about it.

"We can wait. For now." Barrock replied, his eyes looking towards the river then back to Rowan. "What is this...training that I have not heard of?"

But instead, he wanted to learn a bit more about it. A conversation wouldn't hurt, aside from maybe a slight temper.

Ismael gives a nod as he says, "Ah I see, I would like to see it in action", Ismael gestured as he placed his hand out for the ring to see it in action. When he is given the ring he goes over to the mirror, he placed the ring on his finger to try and see how he looked. From what he understood from Tanithil telling him on their way over, through thought the ring will create a complex illusion around the user to change how they physically look, including clothing.

Ismael took up his hand and thought for a moment to change into the image of character he remembered seeing in a Hollywood film poster. One that recently came out as he was some werewolf like character in some vampire romance film. After a moment, he changed his body and face to look like the character while his clothing is to look something like some fantasy common-ish attire, some blacks and browns and greys to make him blend in with the crowd, the only thing he keeps is the cloak, as he shifts the hood back that was covering his face as he began to inspect himself trying to find the little quirk the lady was talking about.

“Yeah, I know.” Arlen smiled softly, and returned the hand-squeeze as they made their way to The Seagull. Once there, both took their seats, and listened to what the captain had to say.

Arlen just nodded at what Captain Drosis said, seeing no issues with it. He drummed his leg as he listened to the conversation, feeling restless. “Spot guards acting unusual, got it,” he summarized. At Amisra’s question, he turned a questioning look on her. “Yup, ‘course, I am.”

He made to get up, leaning his hand on the table, but something occurred to him just then. “Uh, maybe we shouldn’t be saying what Ismael is though?” He was genuinely confused why they were saying out loud anything about a human. Even if only their mates were around, and it didn’t look like anyone was listening in. “Seems like a bad habit if we don’t wanna be the ones to give it up,” he commented with a wry smile.

He then settled back down, and hung around for a drink or two. “Think he could suspect sumthin’ without getting the word from us?” There was no need to say who ‘he’ was. The particular emphasis on it made it clear Arlen was referring to the so-called king of Avalia.

He’d thought so far the deal was not saying anything on their end, and making sure each group’s human didn’t stick out badly enough to arise suspicion. But if the other side could figure something’s up without that? It’d be a different sort of mission entirely. He hoped not, because secrecy was their best advantage…for now.

“Well, either way, we’ll be on the lookout,” he met Amisra’s gaze, nonverbally acknowledging and returning the trusting consideration.

“Speaking of…” he stood up and stretched. “Should we check up on those two already?” He walked to Amisra, and laid his hands on her shoulders. Noticing the tension – which was the usual for her when she got serious – he gave her an impromptu shoulder rub.

“Or take a walk ‘round the city, see if anything unusual’s happenin’?” He let her make the call, though obviously, if the captain had a say, they’d do that. While waiting for the answer, his fingers dug into the princess’ shoulders, doing some work to relieve that stress. Expertly, he found any muscle knots, and with careful yet accurate application of pressure, undid them. Being a wonderful masseuse was just one of many skills in his arsenal.

Amisra probably wouldn’t let him do it for long, what with being so gung-ho about any tasks, missions, and work in general. Still, even a little could help.

The fight against the owlbear continued, and the white haired fairy dealt another blast of magic towards the beast’s limbs, freezing it in place. The owlbear struggled to free itself to little avail, but in time the ice began to crack. Before Zeva could take the opportunity to show off again, the light elf returned to the scene in animated flair, and stepped right up to Zeva. She cocked her head to the side in visible confusion as he whispered his suspicions of her; as far as she knew, she had not met nor wronged the man.

There was little opportunity for Zeva to protest as the light elf proceeded to converse with the trapped beast, with a laissez-faire attitude that gave the impression he had done this many times before. He uttered a quick prayer and promptly dispatched the owlbear, with smoke and the smell of burnt poultry and feathers wafting up into the air.

As soon as the fight was over, all of the tension that had been holding Zeva together loosened, and she dropped to the ground in relief. It was a blessing to have encountered these travelers on her journey, even if it meant bringing danger upon them because she surely would have died on her own. Now relaxed, Zeva took a moment to really examine her surroundings and the people who had graciously helped her. Her eyes drifted to a sullen looking man; he seemed disappointed he couldn’t do more. He caught Zeva’s curiosity – perhaps he was an elf too, but his ears were rather small, or hidden. If he were a fae, he was missing his wings, though she supposed it was possible that he could’ve lost them tragically. Perhaps he was a warforged, but it seemed unlikely. Zeva decided not to ponder on this too heavily – people had their own circumstances.

The fairy girl and the light elf both gave the owlbear a prayer, before an auburn haired demihuman began salvaging the valuable parts of the dead beast. Though Zeva really wanted to thank the group and introduce herself, the sullen man and two fairies appeared evidently cautious of her and stepped away. Zeva made a small pout; she missed her opportunity to make a good impression. The light elf seemed to be the leader of the group, and took on the responsibility of interrogating the stranger in their midst.

Zeva shot up and grabbed Mister Luum’s hand with enthusiasm, using the right hand from the injured arm as the other was still clasped over her wound. “Nice to meet you Mister Luum!” She shook his hand up and down. “My name is Zeva! Thank you and everyone so much for helping me!!” At this point, she had let go of the light elf’s hand and the injured arm returned slumped to her side.

“I’ve lived in Illuminata for quite awhile, but my parents say I was born in a town near Riverbloom. I moved to Illuminata a long time ago. So I don’t remember what Riverbloom was like. I’m going to graduate from Aegnor Stonel soon, so I guess I’m still a student, but I like fighting a lot more than studying.” Zeva giggled. “I was on the way to Roshmi City to buy new daggers. I had just saved enough to get an upgrade so I’m hoping to buy top-of-the-line daggers that will last me a long while. I figured I would travel to Roshmi City on foot and get some training done on the way, so I was looking around for some monsters to fight. But I kept running into small prey! How am I supposed to get more fighting experience with rabbits? I had just hunted a Joverine boar earlier and that's when I ran into the owlbear; I thought it was hungry and wanted the boar for itself, but it still followed me after I left the boar for it and ran away… Anyway, I’m glad I ran into everyone here! You really saved me, thanks again!”

Zeva’s monologue finally ended, typically giving relief to those on the receiving end. While she rambled, Mister Luum’s companion had been skillfully dismantling the owlbear, and it was impressive to see her haul all of the goods.

“Wow, what are you going to do with the owlbear?” Zeva’s eyes gleamed with curiosity. Her gaze returned to Mister Luum, “By the way, what are you guys doing here? Heading to Roshmi City as well?”

All of a sudden, a loud road erupted from the dark-haired man, and the skies bellowed in unison as a bolt of lightning smited the forest floor by his feet. The energy seemed to flow around him, and the blast sent a gust of wind that stirred up leaves and dust and brushed past Zeva’s skin. Zeva watched, bewildered, as the man vaulted forward with that built-up energy, and the scene was over in a snap.

Her eyes remained wide as she directed her gaze back to the light elf standing next to her. She pointed back and forth between the man and Mister Luum, “Wha-, what was that?”

Time: One week after Zora arrived into Avalia.
Location: Riverbloom, Daisy Bakery
Interactions: Aurora @mole, Rowan @GingerBobOh
Mentions: Barrock @Conscripts

Zora smiled tenderly towards Aurora as she heard her saying she was glad she had enjoyed the cake. Part of her was starting to get a bit worried on how attached she was growing to Aurora. Due to her lifestyle back on earth, Zora wasn't exactly used to being cared for like that. Even if Zora was quickly grown fond of and attached to Aurora, she still couldn't feel an ounce of malice on the woman's words and actions, something which definitely helped her be a bit more at ease with the idea of 'trusting' someone as much as she was starting to trust Aurora.

The Orc was quick to leave the ignorant dark elf behind, heading off towards the nearby forest. Unfortunately, Rowan didn't seem to be as calm as the orc was on his own ordeal, after he heard Zora's reply. Zora simply raised an eyebrow, listening silently as Rowan said he was only trying to give her a better chance of survival and would not accept being branded as the villain, before he stormed off towards the river, coincidentally, the same direction the Orc went earlier.

Zora gave a heavy, exhausted sigh after Rowan stormed off, shaking her head with an obviously annoyed expression before she turned to Aurora.

"Your brother needs to understand that I am not a soldier. It doesn't matter how much he tries, I will never be one." Zora said, looking to Aurora with a sigh. If she was going to fight for her new home, it meant that despite their differences, both her and Rowan would have to find a way to at least tolerate each other... Zora only hoped Aurora could help her with that.

"I might not be bound by a deal or a promise, but if this is going to be my new 'home'... It is still in my best interest to bring peace to it. But I will do it my own way." Zora said with a determined expression as she looked to Aurora.

"Still, if we are going to work together... We will need to find a way to at least enough to tolerate each other... In my old life, sailors often solved their problems with knife fights and lots of rum... But I doubt things would work the same here..." Zora said with a chuckle. Sailors often had a rough way of dealing with their problems and the alcohol always helped, either with the resulting wounds or helping them bond with each other.

"Rowan is your brother. You understand him better than anyone ever could. Can I ask your help with this?" Zora asked looking to Aurora as she waited for her reply. If possible, Zora didn't really want to go after Rowan if that meant she would have to deal with any more problems, so waiting for Aurora's answer before doing anything was her best bet.

Bowyn wrapped his arm around Rue’s shoulders, his hand lightly squeezed the top of her arm. He followed Rue’s gaze to the elf who had led the owlbear to them. “Trouble, that’s what she is.” He said rolling his eyes. Mister Luum had ordered Bridgette to carve up the owlbear and normally Bowyn would’ve just gone ahead and helped, waste not want not and all that, but Rue was leaning on him so he stayed by Rue’s side.

“Stay away from the new elf, gods I hope she’s not taggin along, but last thing we need is her figuring out-” Bowyn began to offer his opinion to Bardulf who seemed utterly lost in his own head. And then the human was suddenly shouting at no one. Bowyn just stared at the human as lightning cracked and hit the ground in front of the human. He sighed, no point in advising Bardulf to keep his powers and identity secret now as sparks were shooting off the man’s body.

“Bridgette has the creature handled.” Bowyn gestured with his head before pointing a finger at Bardulf. “You will get a handle on those powers before we set foot in Roshmi, or we are all gonna be executed before the day’s over.” Bowyn hissed out his annoyance. A slip-up like this in front of the wrong people would mean an immediate failure of their mission and almost certain death at the hands of the dark elves. How hard could it possibly be to simply not shoot lightning around? A glance at the new elf made it clear the scene had not gone unnoticed.

Darius by@FunnyGuy and Dante by @Alivefalling

Time: Morning
Location: Gaurav Village
Interactions: Menzai @samreaper, Cyrus @Helo, Ophelia @princess and Viola [13org]
Equipment: 2 shot glasses, 300 Amas total, Flowers from Phia, Dante’s cellphone, and Dante’s knife

After such a spectacular entrance, the twins had only a moment to truly assess the situation. They discovered that Phia was in the company of two others like her. Two winged people the twins had learned were fairies. A delicate yet tenacious race of people with the powers to heal and tap into nature itself.

Darius was getting himself up from off the ground after his fall, his eyes locked on the roc flying menacingly above the group. He was wondering how anyone would deal with such a threat just as Phia made her way to Dante and hugged him while speaking to him.

What the hell is that about? Ugh, nevermind, I gotta focus on the giant bird that probably wants to kill us.

Dante embraced Phia's comforting hug, listening as she did her little speech. As she gracefully lifted off into the sky once more, his resolve grew stronger. “That thing is scary as fuck, but I refuse to run or hide. I shall stand my ground and confront it head-on,” Dante declared with unwavering determination, preparing himself for whatever awaited him in the imminent battle.

“Sounds real heroic but you’re getting a medal of honor if you just stand there and let that thing eat you! We’re WORMS to that thing!” Darius shouted as he started moving toward the two fairies but he wouldn’t make it in time...

Dante’s eyes shot towards the familiar sound of his brother “Would you shut the fuck u-.”

Dante’s words were suddenly cut off by the piercing cry of the roc. The twins covered their ears as best as they could, wincing from the sharp screech. Then came a massive gust of wind that almost blew them off their feet. To make matters worse the roc used its massive body and wings to destroy the forest canopy around them causing debris from the large thick trees to fall upon the forest floor. It was as if the sky was collapsing around them.

As the roc flew over, Dante tried to shout to his brother “BUILD A WALL!” He screamed as loud as he could, hoping Darius would hear him over the chaos as he put his hands to the ground and formed a half dome to cover himself. Darius accomplished the same in an instant as he already had that same idea in mind. Despite Dante’s effort, part of the rock dome crashed into his left thigh as a large piece of tree broke through it. “Fuck, my leg!” he winced in pain trying to focus on keeping his dome up.

After the torrential winds subsided, Darius quickly peeked from outside his dome. He wasn’t as close to the two fairies as he had wanted to be but at least it seemed he, Dante, and those two had gotten through the devastation the roc caused. As far as Menzai and Phia, he couldn’t tell.

“Shit…” He muttered as he looked up at now opened area and the roc circling the area… searching. Everyone seemed so frozen in place after what occurred but Darius wasn’t the type to just sit still. He knew even with his gifted magic, he couldn’t combat the roc directly. He didn’t believe anyone of them could but he had to do something. He glanced at the tattoo on his right wrist as a call to action. “Let’s do this!” Darius exclaimed as he vaulted over the rock dome and sprinted as close as he could to the center of the clearing without getting too far from his brother. Focus, focus, focus. It’s only small pieces. Very small pieces! One way. Send them all one way! Darius let loose a grunt as he hopped and slammed both his palms to the ground. The impact caused particles of dirt in a large portion of the open space to rise high into the air creating a low elevated dust cloud approximately thirty feet above the forest floor that obscured the view of those on the ground from the roc.

As Dante peeked from around his dome to see Darius creating a large dust cloud to cover their location “Damn bro, Thats some nice thinking.” He said as he speed limped his way closer to his brother where he too focused all he could on spreading and increasing the radius of the already growing cloud.

“Of course it is. Now… EVERYONE, STAY BELOW THE DUST! ESPECIALLY THE ONES SPORTING THE WINGS!” Darius hoped he had concealed everyone but what was supposed to happen next? What would the roc do?

Equipment: Bow and quiver of arrows, Hygiene supplies, spray bottle, short sword, backpack, a few pieces of jerky, 1000 amas, transmission bracelet, Portable Solar Box, location sender
Attire: His outfit

The scene unfolded like a surreal dream, with each interaction carrying a hint of peculiarity. Zion attempted to convince Malachi that Jun's stealthiness was the cause of his constant attempts to escape, but Malachi couldn't help but question if the lion's perception was skewed or if animals simply had their limits of understanding. In his mind, he found his conclusion as Zion greeted the strange woman as if she were an old friend coming over for tea.

Observing Zion warmly greet a random stranger who had mysteriously appeared with a basket of pastries, Malachi couldn't help but feel a sense of skepticism. The stranger's sudden arrival seemed suspicious, and he narrowed his eyes as she retorted. "Well, well, aren't you a charming host?" His gaze sharpened as the blonde continued, "Here I am, bringing delightful baked goods to greet my new neighbors, and I'm met with such warmth and hospitality." She continued to later poke fun at him for not greeting her as nicely as Zion and for his spray bottle tactic. ...The spray bottle works.

"Well, isn't that just a relief," Malachi responded finally, rolling his eyes mockingly. "I must say, your peaceful mission with baked goods is truly awe-inspiring. Who knew that the path to world harmony could be paved with pastries and neighborly intentions? You've surely cracked the code, haven't you?" He flashed a sarcastic smile.

With a mixture of caution and annoyance, Malachi locked eyes with the gold-eyed woman. "It's quite early in the morning... Are you selling something or...?" he asked dryly in a low voice. The effort put into making all those pastries solely for their benefit seemed peculiar, especially if there were no intentions of profiting from some sort of door-to-door baked goods sale.

"I'm sorry."
Father... I'm sorry.

Malachi paused. He had heard the small voice through the chaos and looked over his shoulder, his eyes following Jun as he disappeared into the house. He tapped his foot thoughtfully, deep in contemplation, before turning his attention back to Zion and Kenia. Letting out a sigh, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a few amas, tossing them to Zion.

"Zion, buy some of her pastries, and then kindly let her move on," Malachi instructed, his voice carrying a hint of urgency.

Hurriedly, Malachi made his way back inside the house, his eyes darting to the sound of the wind against the window, before they slowly slid to Jun, wheezing at the end of the table. In that brief moment, a vivid memory surfaced in his mind—the image of a small blonde child, his face buried in his arms as he cried. He was seated at the end of a white table, while a little girl attempted to bring him comfort, her arms wrapped around her brother from behind. Malachi's expression contorted momentarily, the pain of the past resurfacing before he shook his head. Even after all these years, the memories found a way to haunt him.

Gradually, the human's wheezing subsided, as he seemed to discover some method to calm himself. Clearly, herding the young man like cattle was taking a toll. Malachi surveyed his surroundings first and then approached Jun with measured steps. "Jun... Can we talk?" he asked, his voice softer this time.

"Look." He set the spray bottle down on a side table before taking another step. "I come unarmed."

Phia found herself abruptly forced to cover her ears as a fierce gust of wind assailed her, harshly pushing her downward that sent her tumbling through the air. In the midst of her free fall, determination flooded her being, and with a flurry of wing beats, she managed to regain control of her flight, preventing a disastrous crash. However, the rough landing took its toll as a sharp branch mercilessly pierced through her side, eliciting a sharp cry of pain that echoed through the chaotic scene. Grimacing, she instinctively rolled onto the ground, clutching her throbbing head, struggling to regain her bearings.

Disoriented from the fall and discombobulated by the turmoil surrounding her, Phia remained sprawled on the ground for a fleeting moment, her mind struggling to comprehend the gravity of the situation. Gradually, she summoned the strength to rise onto her trembling palms and, with a determined resolve, pushed herself up onto unsteady feet. Despite blood trickling down from the laceration on her torso, she pushed the pain aside.

To her dismay, Phia realized that she had crash-landed in a perhaps unfamiliar location and the group was not visible around her. An anxious furrow formed on her brow as she nervously bit her lip.

It was then a commanding voice pierced through the tumult, issuing a warning to everyone present. "Of course it is. Now... EVERYONE, STAY BELOW THE DUST! ESPECIALLY THE ONES SPORTING THE WINGS!"

Relief washed over Phia as she recognized the voice, causing her to call out eagerly as she started jogging over, "Darius!... The others are with you? " Her voice carried a mix of relief and concern. She scanned her surroundings frantically, her eyes darting from one figure to another, hoping to catch a glimpse of Menzai's form. Worry gripped her heart as she contemplated the possibility that something untoward had befallen him. Panic began to claw its way onto her usually calm countenance. Looking around, she asked, " Where's Menzai? Is he okay?!"

Time: Morning
Location:Throne Room, Malthemoor

On the magical continent of Avalia existed a cold and unforgiving island. On this island was a deep cavern contained within solid walls of stone. Within the cavern was the grand city of Malthemoor, teeming with the life of those that were banished so long ago. Towering over this city was a castle of crude metal and stone. And within this very castle, sat the most powerful king in Avalia’s history. His heart, though dark, was also kindling. Like a furnace, it produced warmth for his kin and a blistering scorch to his enemies.

He sat firmly on his obsidian throne staring stoically at his subjects entering his dimly lit throne room. It was seemingly a normal preceding that occurred; a daily intelligence update brief of the goings within his kingdom. The briefers were adorned in long dark colored fabrics, kneeling several feet away. Besides the king who sat silently, their audience included his siblings, his eldest children, the worshiped demigoddess, Deyanira, Doctor Zalthraxis Morthelvaan, head scientist over the Dusk Project, and the wardens who were being projected through the transmission stand at the center of the spacious room. Those who were physically present stood on either of the throne room’s walls… waiting for their crowned king to speak.

“Stand. Share with us. Tell us of my kingdom, of our wards, of our people.” King Kyros Zanithel finally and deliberately broke the silence. He was always the first to speak, not because he was born to be king but because he had snatched the position and held it tightly within his grasp. In Malthemoor, heirs were not chosen through birthright, but through their actions and standout potential. He was conscious of every single word he spoke as his word was law. His word was true!

Deyanira was an imposing figure that stood at the side of the throne, her fingers tracing the details of the obsidian, her gaze fixed on the king seated below her. Her flowing white hair cascaded down her back, its ethereal beauty enhanced by its gentle, flowing movement, as though it were caught in an underwater current. Her cold eyes, which were a deep shade of purple, seem to pierce through any who dare to look directly at her. Though an ethereal beauty, the lavender-skinned being possessed a foreboding aura. As her King had addressed his wardens, she had shifted her eyes onto each of them with cool detachment.

Zalthraxis, a formidable figure stood among the royalty of the dark elves, he exuded an aura of ominous elegance. His ebony scales radiated a mysterious sheen, capturing the essence of the shadows themselves. Adorned in regal, intricately designed robes that cascaded over his scaley form, he stood with an air of undeniable authority. With hands interwoven, his grip firmly clasping the pommel of his sword, he observed the scene before him. His keen intellect tirelessly dissected every detail of his surroundings, meticulously calculating his next move. Like a predator in the night, his reptilian eyes darted with cold intensity, leaving no facet of the room unnoticed.

“My grace!” One of the cloaked dark elves announced as he and his peers rose up to address their king. “Every ward remains stable thanks to the governance of our wardens. Ironhold, Roshmi, and Myriamor continue to increase their revenue through trade and goods. Our standardized identification system remains in the works but the existence of disguise rings is still an obstacle we must continue to contend with. As you are aware from prior briefings, there are citizens who have used these maskings for decades or more at a time. We recommend a stop in production and to ban them from the markets, however, this will also decrease the morale of the people who use them for cosmetic vanity. I-”

“Our people. We are all Avalians and Avalia is my kingdom.” King Zanithel interrupted without a change in his demeanor, though his powerful words were felt in the bones of the dark elf that briefed.

“Apologies, my king! Our people. There are reports of an influx in the purchase of these rings lately, which coincides with our next update.”

“Proceed.”

“Rebel forces have begun to swell throughout the kingdom. With one faction managing to raid and burn down one of our middle forts between Myriamor and Illuminata. Reports indicate this is the same faction that includes a light-elven woman, and a dragonborn male. Unfortunately, we have failed to deliver their heads to you. But by the grace of Halastra, we will capture and kill them.” He assured before gulping as he prepared the next set of information from his sources. Make it swift. I will tolerate that cist.

“My king, there has also been a rumor of the summoning of humans by the rebel faction, New Dawn.”

“Humans?” The word would have been completely foreign to him if not for the existence of demihumans. Despite this, he knew some of the alien race from his knowledge of Avalian history. A race of beings from another realm capable of using magic beyond the level of even the oldest and wisest of elves and fairies. They were nearly forgotten but still acknowledged through the annals of history.

“Yes, my grace. Our sources say The New Dawn is rumored to have summoned humans.” the dark elf repeated, though adamantly.

“A rumor? In my court?” King Zanithel’s eyes pierced through the briefer, shaking him at the knees. “Though I appreciate this information but without evidence, how do you intend for me to act? I will not move our forces on the basis of rumors.”

Deyanira's voice cut through the tense atmosphere like a sharp blade as she chimed in suddenly, “If humans are truly among us, then this is the ideal time to step on them. They are unwelcome pests in our world…” She watched an ant crawl up onto the top of the throne, and with deliberate and ominous slowness, she delicately pressed her finger into it, crushing it into oblivion. Her lips then curled into a cruel smile. “The pathetic creatures will possess very little knowledge of the world they stand on.”

The demigoddess leaned forward to look down at the King, her eyes locked onto him with an unyielding intensity. “The humans pose a small threat if any in the long-run, which is more than what could be said for the rest of them. Investigating the rumor will provide no loss to us and ensure they never gain their foothold.”

“An investigation,” He spoke as if contemplating the idea. His eyes were upon Deyanira for a moment before he focused on the subject who had reported the said rumor of humans to him. “Do we have locations?”

“No, my grace.”

“Do we know many were summoned?”

“No, my grace.” This answer came out weaker as he mentally felt the weight of the King's ire.

“Their abilities?”

“We know nothing more, my grace.” The sound of King Zanithel's tense exhale nearly shook the reporting dark elf from his skin. He regretted even reporting the matter as it only put him in the crosshairs of his king's exploitation of the lack of information in it.

“Then do as the darkness calls for, my kin. Do your duty and give us our answers… And if you do find them, all of them, I don't think I have to tell you the next course of action. Do I?”

“No, my grace. Their light shall be extinguished from Avalia. From your kingdom.” King Zanithel finally broke a smile of pride before looking upon Zalthraxis across the dimly lit room.

“Precisely. Zalthraxis, can you produce a scout or two suitable to aid my soldiers in this task? I think your blessed fae could find some use… other than getting lost. His eyes pierced through the dragonborn as he exposed the knowledge of a failure from the esteemed doctor.

Zalthraxis felt acid begin to bubble in his throat as he was called out in public. If it were anyone else he would have killed them.

“My King, the one that escaped was a failure. Would you prefer I… terminated the subject? As for the humans, I shall send my most trusted two.” He said, bowing to the king who hadn’t faltered his expression.

“With such an esteemed reputation and a sharp mind, explaining what I want to be done to one of your failures would be a waste of breath… Instead, I look forward to hearing of the prospect your successes will bring to the Kingdom of Avalia. The creation of dark fairies is one of our greatest triumphs and the first of many stepping stones to the future I envision. Continue to keep me updated on their progress. No more secrets, doctor.” Zanithel’s expression eased as he turned his attention to the reporting subordinates.

“If there is nothing else, you are all dismissed. Mistress Deyanira, remain. I require your counsel. I wish to learn as much as I can about these… humans.”

Time: Breakfast time!
Location: River Port; Malachi’s mom’s house
Interactions: Malachi@princess, Jun@JJ Doe, Enstille@GingerBobOh, Kenia@Tae
Equipment: A halberd, (always with him) hunting knife, and half-plate armor (left in the room).

Zion shook his head as just about every other member of his new pride gave the kindly neighbor woman the cold shoulder. While he could appreciate Jun’s rush to get to the breakfast table, at least a few words with the elf he’d run into would’ve been nice. Malachi on the other hand was just outright rude. There was just a sad flickering of his tail as he took the coins from Malachi. He kept the warm smile up for Kenia, he couldn’t imagine how disheartening it must be to show up to extend the hand of friendship to one’s neighbors only to be treated poorly. Zion knew, without a doubt, his mother would be deeply disappointed if he did not try and correct the situation.

“Well, I think that sharing good food and neighborly intentions are the best first steps to harmony. I am sorry the others seem to have lost their manners, but I’d like to welcome you to our table. We have meat, and eggs that are surely growing cold, to share.” Zion offered up the amas Malachi had given him, on the chance that she’d rather take the coin and leave. At the same time, he gestured towards the kitchen with his head, a room he hoped they all headed to soon.

“Malachi is rough around the edges but carries the heart of a warrior.” He accentuated his point by slamming a fist against his chest. “The others are just a bit shy.”

“Of course, Zora. I will gladly help you,” Aurora’s milky eyes looked passed the Zora, unable to see her physical form and concentrated on the shine of her nous. She forced a small light smile. She was thankful Zora chose to express her concerns as opposed to keeping them hidden on the shadows of her mind where anyone could twist them — even by accident. “My brother is very worried, and I apologize that it is having such a negative affect. You are so new to Avalia, and, forgive me for saying this, it seems in your previous life, you suffered much intolerance alongside loneliness. I wish neither for you, here, especially, while you choose to remain such a blessing in our group.”

“We are asking so much if you already. The burden we have given you, is enough to scare most creatures useless. My brother is concerned because this may be our last hope…” Aurora’s eyes looked into a distant spot, away from the energies of Zora. Her memory flashing the last century of anguish in front of her. “None of this is easy for any of us, but,” again, her gaze looked directly through Zora, “I will do my very best to help with your request.”

Zora was right. There should be no fighting in the group, ans unrealistic as it may be. There was enough animosity surrounding them and their task. However, on a much deeper level, Aurora believed even if it was not for saving Avalia, she liked and appreciated Zora and saw no reason why she should have a rift with Rowan.

“We should go to the river and accompany Rowan. I will request an early evening. Please, help guide me,” Aurora could find the way herself, but after hearing the commotion from earlier, she felt hesitant. While she was strong with magic, it was purely out of defense. Her grip tightened around her staff.

"Good," He nodded approvingly. The Captain trusted them both with this. "We can worry about him when the day comes that we have a reason to. Until then, assume we're being watched the entire day. Sooner or later he'll figure it out, that's a given. But our job's to postpone that until we can't anymore. In the meantime, they'll be learning as much as they can so they aren't helpless when that day does come, you understand? Ismael and his kind're the chosen ones. They're the future of the world and we're what's stopping them from getting killed before they know which way's up."

Come to think of it, Ismael and Tanithil had been gone for a while now. "Right- Let's find them. I trust Tanithil, but Solaris knows he can't keep out of trouble forever." The Captain stood up and strode out, expecting them to follow. The crew had been together for years by now, long enough that they remembered actually losing the war. Many of them were a part of it just like Drosis, so they all knew each other like a big, tough family. That family, however, was one that Drosis kept in line through sheer will and his ability to steer the ship- Something no one else aboard the Saltrunner had the privilege of doing, not even a helmsman.

He walked down the roads of Vanarosa, scanning the area and taking every detail in without the slightest trace of concern on his face. Everything was a piece on a board, a body on a ship. They all had to be considered. Especially now, when any one of these dock workers, guards or "citizens" could be a spy or perhaps a member of a human kill squad. Even professionals didn't let themselves be too confident to do their due diligence. It came naturally with being a pirate who raided ships for a living.

"Now just where have they gone and ran off to?"

Ft. Menzai

Interaction:@Helo Cyrus @13org Viola @princess Phia, @samreaper Menzai @FunnyGuy Darius @Alivefalling Dante

As the roc surveyed the area of the devastated terrain, its sharp eyes caught sight of a swirling dust cloud emerging from below. The creature continued to search, which only seconds later, its eyes locked on to the pink-haired fairy, who once again had been spotted just on the outer edge of the dust, drawing the Roc's attention like a magnet.

With a determined fury, the roc began its descent, its massive wings beating rhythmically, causing the dust to disperse. The air cleared, revealing an opportune opening as the roc landed, aiming to seize its elusive prey the fairy, ready to satisfy the hunger of her hatchlings. The roc, now towering in all its glory over the small being, the beast lowered its head, attempting to devour her.

During all the cacophony and whirlwind going about, the missing wolf was adrift in his own mental space. His body still reeling heavily from the Roc’s intense shriek and the blow to his back adding to Menzai’s disorientation. Unable to do anything but try to sense the area though some strange cloud mixed with the furious wisps of wind threatening to tear trees from root made getting an understanding difficult. This on top of all the kicked up dust stinging his eyes; vision still hazy and his throat which stung like cracked cement. There wasn’t a part of his body not in pain or discomfort, but Menzai ignored and pushed through it, forcing his body to obey his desperate whims even when the taste of copper lined his tongue.

Through sheer force of will, the wolf pushed himself onto shaky feet. A small relief as his vision finally cleared though, what he would see would make him immediately wish otherwise. He could not make out everything with the Roc’s continuous fierce wing flaps and dust cloud created by the brothers, he figured. At this point the situation has only gotten worse and would only continue to do so unless they somehow got to the massive bird relent in its attack.

The concern for the group and his village raged in him like the surrounding storm. Most frustrating of all was how useless he was; all due to his failure of not getting proper control as merely standing was all he was capable of. Many thoughts went through his mind like multiple film reels as Menzai attempted to work out what to do next….

Then the air cleared and from this he caught sight of Phia and….his mind went blank. All sense of pain vanished save for a single cold chill that seeped down his spine as if icy fingers tried to freeze him from within.

Menzai knew his body was in no shape to be making any strenuous movements, but in this instant none of it mattered. Whatever the outcome, he refused to sit there and so, purely by instinct his body reacted. Every muscle in his body and senses were forcibly tuned to their max as the tiny red glints of his eyes enlarged thrice their size until his eyes were like those of a menacing predator. Without warning, a loud thunderous crack as the branches Menzai stood upon cracked and shattered beneath the determined wolf’s feet, flying through the air; for Phia he would seem as if appearing out of nowhere as he used a single hand aiming to shove her out of the way.

With a loud crack echoing in the air, the roc clamped its powerful jaws down on Menzai's arm, shattering the bones in its grasp where Phia once stood. The roc whipped it’s massive head, violently ripping Menzai's arm from his body flinging him aside.

For the second or third time, Menzai found himself blacking out briefly and like before could not tell what had happened exactly. As all the pain was made worse from the immense stress he just put his body through. The only two things he was conscious of was the lack of weight on his left side and Phia’s face. Her features blurred heavily from his vision gradually darkening. A small smile curved his lips before everything went black.

Tanithil watched with interest while the human's shape seemed to turn, twist, and shimmer to meet the mental image Ismael had in mind. Much to his disappointment it was simply another form of human. His shorter black hair was a different touch and the scars along his face seemed to have faded. Did humans always have ears this big? He couldn't tell just what may be wonky immediately, but his best guess would be that his ears seemed about twice as big as they were before. He snorted a little and let Ismael eye up his image in the mirror.

"Don't think we really got much of a choice for ya considerin' that's the only one in town. Should be good enough if you choose an actual elven disguise, big guy." He turned and made sure all the amas were in order, sliding an extra 20 to the shopkeep with a serious expression. "Oh by the way. We were never here." With that he grabbed his two items, pat Ismael on the back, and began to walk with him out the door. "Seriously though. Either you become an elf or the hood should go back on on." He said with a hushed tone as they made their way out the door, letting Ismael decide which form to take.

With the shopping done Tanithil would guide Ismael from that particular stretch of town to a few back alley shortcuts he knew. "Normally I'd show you around but I'm still wary of some wandering eye catching us in public and crying wolf." Walking down the alleyway was rather quiet, not too much trouble would typically surface so long as you moved quick and fast. But today it seemed the two were not quick enough. A single figure stepped into the middle of the pathway Tanithil and Ismael began to walk. The normal casual posture Tanithil had stopped as he straightened his back and put a hand out in front of Ismael to stop any forward progress. A deafening silence seemed to fill the air as the man and Tanithil stared daggers into each other. Finally the man stepped out, revealing himself to be another dark elf who spoke in a slightly gruff voice.

"This is our town, scrub!"

Almost immediately another higher pitched voice rang out from behind them. "Yeah, beat it!"

Two more figures approached from the left and right, surrounding the pair on all sides. Each person stood about 10 feet away from Tanithil and Ismael in either direction. To their front, a dark elf man. Behind them, a small fairy with a nasty scar under his eye. To their left, another dark elf who seemed short yet packed with muscle. Finally, to their right was an orc who stood taller than everyone there.

"On second thought. Why don't ya empty ya pockets and come along real quiet like so we can use ya for some fun in the fighting pits, eh?"

The orc spoke up. "Doubt they'd make more than a dozen amas. The one elf's real scrawny. The other ones got a bit of meat on 'im but doesn't look like much."

The dark elf, presumably the head of this bunch, snapped at the orc. "I don't fuckin pay you to consult and analyze our prey, dip-stick! I pay you for muscle. Now go fucking crush those twerps!"

"Right on." The orc's voice bellowed as he began to approach the two.

Tanithil's hand stayed near Ismael, the other moving in an instant to conjure a shadow-tinted blunderbuss, prompting the thugs to stop their advance for a moment. "Woah there cowboys. I'm gonna need you all to slow your roll and realize who you're dealin' with. Lest you want a hole in each of your stomachs I think the best course of action would be to let us on through. I won't ask twice." He then pulled the hammer on his conjured gun and aimed it at the orc.

“Can’t go, not yet,” Cyrus responded. Phia had already flown off, if Phia thought she could convince the Roc to leave, he had to trust that. If Phia left to allow the Roc to chase her, then he’d go as well. Because Viola was right, they should not allow themselves to be separated again. He kept his focus on the swirling mass of sticks and shattered treetops.

The two muscular elves did things that elves simply could not. A massive dust cloud had been summoned, it barely slowed the Roc down as wings kept beating to displace the cover. The Roc found its spot and landed; a swirl of dust, rock, and branches danced around them. Something hard slammed into his side. His footing faltered, but Cyrus kept focused on only Roc and magic. The bird’s eyes were dangerously fixed on Phia whose courageous flight had been thwarted. What was clear was this was not a matter of entering the wrong creature's territory, for the Roc this was all survival. It would have to be a choice for survival for the group as well.

“Is your plant still hungry?” He asked Viola, remembering how quickly and easily the Blood Rose had drained the boar earlier. Could it handle something much bigger? Even enough to weaken the Roc would be a start.

As the Roc’s massive beak snapped toward Phia and her closeness to the bird made it impossible to fling the collection of wooden shrapnel towards the pair. “Move Phia.” A soft whisper carried the wish away mixed and muddled with the sounds of wind, snapping branches, and the screeching bird.

A flash of white, as demihuman lept from the trees, saving Phia. The horrid sound of shattering bone cut through the noise as the demihuman was bitten and flung aside. A bloody arm remained trapped within the Roc’s beak. Opportunity opened. Every bit of wooden shrapnel, any bit of plant material his magic could keep hold of was sent hurting towards the Roc.
