The rewards mentioned by the ladies were rather vague. Of course there would be reward, he wasn't that badly mistreated. Danger never really was an issue. Bearing that abhorrent symbol on his head, Barrock wasn't granted the privilege of treading on solid ground ever. But what Rowan said: freedom. The last he knew, there were no such thing as a safe haven free from Dark Elves subjugation. That begged the question: Was this some sort of rebellion?

The orc closed his eyes, his fingers resting and occasionally tapping on his sword, a clear and, although strange coming from an orc, deliberate sign of thoughtful thinking. Would this be a legitimate rebellion, or some upstart people being delusional? If this was the latter, he was pretty sure the Dark Elves would not take kindly to his involvement. He had suffered from their prison once, he would not want sufferage again.

But what else could he choose really? Refuse and go back to his fugitive lifestyle? A runaway prisoner, an orc that will forever be looked down upon by society, by these low-life elves born into privilege of the conquerors? He already was barely surviving, what else could possibly be worse than this.

At least they had the decency to treat him like an equal. With respect.

"Fine." Barrock stated, as he opened his eyes. Maybe all of that was worth the risk. "I do not care about your honor or riches, but freedom is a precious cause I will fight for."

He looked through the three individuals in front of him, whom he would likely be calling comrades and fighting partners in the very near future. Their decency aside, he wasn't sure how well they were as fighters. He had seen Rowan's technique, but like battlefield experience go, you can never judge them accurately until they get punched, sliced or pierced.

"Let me know what needs to be done. Before and after this 'mission' is done."

Eros’ amber eyes squinted into those of the fish woman lying on the bank before him. He attempted to discern what she truly was while understanding food was no longer an option… not unless he chopped his catch at the waistline.

"You do not wish to dine on me, sir, I assure you," He simply frowned. Maybe if you were a delicious tuna… The waistline would still be a fish, right? Right?! Hmm…. Eros couldn’t help but lick his lips as he looked at the bottom half of the mermaid, even despite her words.

"Please, release me from this, and I shall swiftly depart. I'm even prepared to compensate you for the inconvenience of your damaged net."

"I can provide you with coin for your troubles if that would help persuade you."

Eros grunted before approaching the woman and crouching in front of her tangled form. Again, his tongue flicked at his lips, his eyes still narrowed. With a swift movement of his hand, Eros pinched Cyrene’s cheek. The gesture was swift and almost like a poke on her cheek except for the faintest feeling of pain.

Beebee chirped behind him, causing him to briefly glance back at the miniature pet of his.

“Enjoy the mermaids while the sun is bright… Beware the sirens glow during night… Hmm… Yes.” He wore a serious expression as he nodded to the maiden, not exchanging another word. His hand was swift as before, but a pinch was not in order this time around. Without a word or warning, Eros bopped the woman with a closed fist on the top of her head. A strike so vicious and violent with the intent to knock Cyrene out cold in a single bash.

Location: The Nest, Roshmi

Aerilyn perked up, her ears twitching in response to the conversation between the Warforged and the Elven girl. "Three? Make that four," she chimed in, her voice tinged with concern. "You're going to need a guide to their camp, and it's not just a manticore, oddly enough. That creature has goblins working under him." Her expression darkened as she brought up the situation, as it had been only days since her party had been killed by the same menace they were now contemplating going after.

She paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "So, are you in mister?" Aerilyn asked, a hint of determination in her eyes while displaying a large smile. "I can provide a more detailed briefing once we've sorted out this mess here." She gestured toward the Warforged, inviting them to join their cause.

Struggling against the treads of the rope again, Cyrene grunted with frustration as she started to realize the familiarity of her situation. The man’s lack of personal space was evident as he pinched her cheek. The natural fire in her belly made her body shake with fury as she felt the sting.

Her body continued to buzz with frustration at her situation as the man seemed to be distracted from talking to his pet. Cyrene’s attention dropped down to her body as she wiggled some more unwilling to give up again as the panic in her chest continued to swell.

However, Cyrene froze as she heard him piece together the old children’s rhyme. Enjoy the mermaids while the sun is bright… Beware the sirens glow at night. She knew the mocking tale all too well. Before she could say anything she felt a sharp pain on her head as the world around her simply faded to black.

Time: Morning
Location: Roshmi!
Interaction:Brigitte @Tae, Bardulf @Lava Alckon, Rue @Potter, Bowyn @Helo, Zeva @Pink Khione, Brigitte @Tae (optional)
Mention: A strange What If scenario.
Equipment:Fancy Ring, Cold Ring, Oak Wood Staff!, Brown Leather Fingerless Channeling Gloves (not worn), Transmission Bracelet, 560 Amas. Oh! And Owlbear loot that he hasn't shared

After Mister Luum and Brigitte received their delectable treats, the two took seats at the table with everyone else. Mister Luum couldn’t help but grin at the warm and sticky honeyed toast oozing with sweetness!

“Whoever decided that we should come here needs to be paid and laid right this moment.” He snatched a slice of honeyed toast from the plate he and Brigitte were sharing and nearly stuffed his mouth in his attempt to eat it in one bite. Using a finger, he forced the toast to submit to the demands of his appetite, pushing into through his lips. Brigitte on the other hand, remained her modest self, taking small bites out of the slice she carefully picked from the plate.

The table had fallen silent for quite some time. The treats were simply that good. To put such a tense group at peace was impressive, yet such a feat would not last long as Mister Luum’s eyes lingered on each person at the table. His grin remained intact, making his silent staring all the more creepy.

“Hmm…” He gave his following words a bit of an introduction with this. He also noticeably cleared his throat, took a deep breath, and gave his chin a soft rubbing. The elf had to be sure his merry band was listening to what he said next. “I think we could be doing much better as members of the Luumineers. I’ve been around you people for what? A month? I don’t even know what your life goals are! No knowledge of any of your favorite colors, sexual preferences, likes, dislikes, kinks, fears, pet peeves, beliefs, debts owed… Nothing!” Mister Luum actually frowned for once as he nodded his head to affirm the lack of connection with this group.

“You know what…” He was still nodding but his expression seemed to pick up some. “As the lead Luumineer, I should be the one to start. Yes! To share who I am with my fellows. Yes! So, here goes nothing… Oh, and you all will participate. You will. Okay, I’m ready. I am Mister Luum… formally, so I think it’s safe for you lot to simply say ‘Luum’ if you like. I personally think the Mister gives my name some needed zest but you can drop the Mister if it suits you. My favorite color is violet, though I also like certain shades of purple! I like talking about magic theory and telling stories about my epic adventures! I… very much dislike illusionists. Seriously, they should die or something… Anyway, my religion, yes. I primarily worship the mighty and philanderous god, Solaris. He’s basically my spirit animal. A man able to juggle two women for eons is deserving of godhood. Fuck being the god of the sun I say… And there I go rambling. Sorry, I am very religious. Anyway, debts… The important ones are paid. Now, my life goal. I have a big one but it is also quite simple. I, Mister Luum, desire to be Avalia’s greatest sniper. Yes! The best anyone has ever encountered on the battlefield.” He shut his eyes and shrugged smugly. “Bowyn? Bardulf? One of you should go next. Do it for the Luumineers won’t you..”

Time: One week after Zora arrived into Avalia.
Location: Riverbloom, The River
Interactions: Aurora @mole, Barrock @Conscripts, Rowan
Mentions:

Zora listened in curious silence as both Aurora and Rowan made their offers to Barrock. Honor, while not something material, was definitely an offer that would be of great interest even for Zora as it also meant respect, power and influence, but the one thing she was even more curious was the word Rowan mentioned next. Freedom. For someone like Zora, it was most precious than an entire world's worth of riches. No amount of gold, power or influence could match something as simple as freedom for her. True and complete freedom. Which was why Zora's final months on Earth were so agonizing for her after realizing that the power and influence she sought came with a cost... Her own freedom.

After that very word was mentioned by Rowan, Zora's stare became even more curious as she watched Barrock's reaction. While she still knew little about him, the way he replied to Rowan's offer would say quite a bit about his values. Especially since Rowan hadn't specifically mentioned any kind of material rewards to his aid.

Surprisingly for Zora, Barrock would surprise her yet again with his reply, clearly stating that he had no interest in riches or even honor. Her expression as she heard so was a very satisfied one almost as if Barrock had passed some kind of test.

"Freedom. No amount of riches, power or influence would be able to match true, unrestricted freedom. More than anyone else, I would know that well." She said with a satisfied expression, letting out an acid chuckle at the end.

"I feel genuinely happy to see you know exactly how precious true freedom is." she said, looking to Barrock with a genuine smile.

Bardulf

Time: Morning
Location: Roshmi City
Interaction: Mister Luum @FunnyGuy, Rue @Potter, Bowyn @Helo, and Zeva @Pink Khione

So there Bardulf stood in the cafe, food in hand looking to sit with his ragtag group of newly made friends he had been travelling with for the past few weeks, except for their newly acquired light elf friend. It was moments like these where they got to pause and look at their surroundings that Bardulf had time to reflect on just all that had happened. It all still proved to be alot, but each time it was a little less...overwhelming. He took a moment to scan the immediate area, not noticing any suspicious bodies from underneath the shade provided by his hood, and then turned to look at each of his compatriots. Bardulf began to chew on his honeyed toast that seemed to be raved over so very much, and immediately found out why. The sweet taste filled his mouth and brought him a great amount of nostalgia for how his mom would bake some bread, toast it, and sprinkle it with cinnamon and honey after a long days work in the woods. A rare smile adorned Bardulf's expression before he continued analyzing the area around him.

Bowyn and Zeva seemed content enough with their meals, but there seemed to be a kind of thousand yard stare to Rue for a few fleeting moments. As a trio of patrons made their exit, she seemed to snap out of it. Maybe she knew them, or maybe she was simply daydreaming and that would break her out of her trance - but Bardulf could sense a slightly uneasy feeling - ever so faint - coming from Rue. He chose to let it pass, since if it was the latter it would just bring up past wounds. If it was the former, then he'd just look plain weird.

Of course, that left Mister Luum, who was rarely one to simply eat and enjoy a meal without a show of chicanery and boldly stated plans or opinions. This time around he wanted what he presumed was the man's idea of a proper introduction between everyone. After travelling together for as long as they have, it seemed a bit late on the track to start with such things. However with new blood in the group, it could serve as a chance for them to be up to speed on their antics. Bardulf raised an eyebrow at the choice of "fun facts" he had listed out for himself - and the fact that he forgot to list things like sexual preferences, and was equally thankful he wouldn't be forced to share such details to everyone.

In an even rarer show of initiative, Bardulf finished the last of his toast and raised his hand. "Uh, name's Bardulf. But you can refer to me as whatever fits. Given that I might need to hide my identity maybe using my real name is not the best idea...but oh well." He paused to think about the next topics he would share. "My favorite color is blue, like the sky on a clear summer day. I can't say I have a religious belief of some kind. The closest I would say is that I think nature should run its course, and that we should always use everything we have at our disposal. No wasting of food or kill alike. My days as a hunter taught me those kind of things." Bardulf took a small bite of his Toffee Apple and enjoyed another wave of sweet tastse before listing off some more things about himself.

"No debts. Hard to do that when all you do is hunt game and make coin. My life goal was to raise a family, but it seems I was not meant for such a thing. Now it's to find a purpose in this new world I was thrust into." The statement seemed rather melancholy in nature, but Bardulf did not show much in the form of outward emotion. He was simply stating the facts as they were. This was his new home and he soon would have to learn to live with that. In his mind, there was no returning home. Back home, he was sure as dead - moments away from getting struck by lightning. Here, he at least had a chance to live on. That's what Kristine would have wanted, at least.
Realizing how much he had talked, Bardulf quickly trailed off as he said his next bit. "So, yeah. I hope that was good. I don't talk much so don't worry about me. Okay now someone else can go."

Time: Morning
Location: Port Vanarosa
Interactions/Mentions: Arlen @SilverPaw
Equipment: A set of sturdy clothing, the wonky ring of disguise that enlarges the ears of the user, and his dog tags.

Ismael took off his cloak and tunic that had a large slash and took a shirt from one of the men who was taken out in a less than gruesome way and put his shirt on. "Yeah, it'd be nice to see something other than the dark alley. I think getting something to eat would be nice".

Once Ismael had put on the new shirt and his cloak once more, he collected whatever of value he could get and then put it into a bag before he slapped Arlen on the back. "Come on, we don't wanna get caught up here". Ismael laughed before he continued, "I think I saw a place a ways away where Tanathil had taken me to shop, that puts some distance between us and here".

Ismael then began to do a light jog before he hit the street and then began to walk, trying to look normal while also keeping a solid and slightly quick pace. Because no matter what, something was gonna be happening soon and he did not want to be caught up in the aftermath of them fighting in the alley.

“Hmm…” Eros stared inquisitively at the collapsed seafaring demihuman he had swiftly knocked out. He crouched down and poked his index finger against her forehead, cheeks, and shoulders. “Beebee, I don't think she's a siren. That was way too simple…. Hmm, or maybe I was clever in striking swiftly before she could trick me with her voice.” Despite speaking to the frogfly, he kept his eyes on the stranger.

Eros knew he had to remain wary of the possibility of the creature lying here being a murderous siren. He heard many tales of them in his youth, of how they lured their victims in with their beautiful voices and appearances. Once drawn in close enough, their target is drowned and later eaten raw.

A grimace showed on the monkey man's face as he thought how many this one might have killed if she was indeed a monster of the depths. Using his fingers, he carefully parted her lips, revealing the sharp teeth beneath.

“Beebee… I think she's a siren,” Eros said, quickly contradicting his previous statement. The frogfly simply chirped unintelligibly with no rhyme or reason except for creating a responsive noise to Eros' words. “So we're in agreement. Good… No. Great!” With a grin, Eros removed his fingers from the woman's mouth and moved to undo his rope from the net he had cast. It only took him several seconds to unfasten the knot before he returned with his loose rope in hand. “We got a big catch, Beebee. It isn't a fish for eating but a monster for selling!” He started to tie the rope around the stranger's wrists. “All we need is to find a black market and become the richest duo in all Avalia. Imagine it! We could buy so much good fruit. The expensive ones too! The expensive ones are always tasty or so I hear.” With a low grunt, Eros hoisted her up over his shoulder with little to no consideration in the comfort of his captive. Her front half was hanging facedown over his back, while her tail drooped over his front.

“Let's go Beebee! We have to pack and set our sights for Roshmi… Ugh, I hate Roshmi.” Beebee chirped once more. “Right, we both hate Roshmi. Well, we can at least relish the trek there. And maybe even run our final test on our purse along the way too.” He patted the potential siren's tail where her backside would be. “Our pockets will be tight if her scales glow at night! Haha!”

Time: Morning
Location: Southwest of Roshmi City
Interactions: Rue@Potter, Bardulf@Lava Alckon, Bridgette@Tae, Mister Luum@FunnyGuy, and Zeva@Pink Khione
Equipment:Sword, hunting knife, a backpack with supplies, and a stoat named Raze who naps in the pocket of his vest.

For a brief moment, everything settled into peace as the group sat around and enjoyed their snacks. While they were all quiet, Rue’s silence held a more somber tone, devoid of even the sound of honeyed toast being enjoyed. Bowyn’s eyes followed Rue’s, catching sight of the same group of dark elves. Their laughter echoed around, destroying the peace with the same ease dark elves destroyed everything around them. It sounded no different from the laughter they unleashed as they killed and maimed and tortured.

The enemy, weapons outlined beneath their clothes. Bowyn’s posture became unyielding, his focus on them was sharp and cold.

The enemy, the source of his pain, Rue’s pain, Avalia’s pain. And they laughed.

The enemy, walking away, allowed to go about their lives, to continue laughing. He exhaled a long cold breath that fogged against Roshmi’s warm air.

His attention snapped back to Rue as she turned and looked at him with a smile. His expression softened but he could not return the smile. Instead, he just put one arm around Rue until Luum and Bridgette joined them and managed to lighten the mood.

Somehow Mister Luum managed not to choke on the damn-near entire piece of honeyed toast he shoved into his mouth. Unfortunately, not even food could prevent Luum from continuing his nonsense. The Luumineer’s? Bowyn snorted and rolled his eyes as the elf continued yammering on. Once Luum finished answering his own long string of questions, which Bowyn suspected was really just an excuse for the elf to talk about his favorite subject, Bardulf surprisingly volunteered to answer them as well. Forced group bonding; great.

“Favorite color? Also blue.” He looked at Rue, “Like your eyes.” A faint smile returned. “Sexual preferences and kinks?” He looked at Luum for a second and shrugged. “None that would involve you.” He thought over the rest of Luum’s random string of questions. “I like hunting as well, fishing too,” he looked at Bardulf with a nod. “And my home, the smell of the forest, the crunch of snow, looking out and seeing the vastness of it all. I dislike those who are unkind to stoats, guess that’s also a pet peeve.” He shot a glance at Zeva, but he said more as a light jab than a condemnation.

Bowyn paused to think about the other questions Luum had tossed around. Fears and beliefs sat unanswered and he wasn’t going to offer up anything that could be too easily used against him, only the shared fear that he imagined anyone who wanted to stand against the dark elves shared. “I fear that without decisive action our shared threat will continue to spread ruin through Avalia until there is nothing left worth saving and I believe there’s only one sure way to prevent that. That’s my life goal; make sure no future generations have to deal with the dark and malevolent creatures we deal with now.” Having answered Luum’s questions, Bowyn took a large bit of honey toast as Raze climbed down from the fairy’s shoulder and inspected the food on the table. The stoat quickly scarfed down a handful of greedy bites from a piece of toast, chewing it in a manner that showed his disapproval of the snack.

“Want better food.” Beedy eyes stared at Bowyn as if the fairy kept a pocket full of dead mice on the chance that Bowyn’s food wasn’t stoat approved.

Debts owed. As Bowyn stared back at the stoat he realized he’d forgotten a question. He owed his freedom to the always hungry stoat who’d helped him escape a dark elf prison but he wasn’t going to volunteer that either. He’d have to find a stall that sold roasted rabbit or something for the little guy after they were done here.

“Oh debts owed. That’s a funny one, officially one could say I still owe a debt to society but since I don’t acknowledge the false king, I don’t think that counts.” He added.

“How ‘bout you Ears? Your life’s purpose really just to buy some new knives and have an adventure?” He asked Zeva.

Her large, expressive eyes widened in response to the beckoning voice, their vibrant hues drawing in every detail of her surroundings. She conducted a frantic search within the confines of the small nest she had inadvertently fashioned, her gaze eventually returning to the makeshift bed the strangers had been perched upon.

With a hint of reluctance, Sirena's delicate fingers tentatively found their way to the barrel's top, and she gingerly began to push herself upright. Her strikingly bright white hair was the first to emerge, a cascade of wintery locks framing her delicate and frail features. Her sizable, round blue eyes followed suit, pausing for a moment as they locked onto the source of the call.

Laughter filled her mind as voices awakened in response to the intrusion, offering a foreboding chorus of warnings "You're dead," "They will kill you," "Dark Fae... Nasty Fae." These ominous declarations were accompanied by shrill, piercing screams.

Sirena's head tilted slightly downward, an involuntary reaction to the sudden, piercing screeches that had an uncanny way of growing louder as her discomfort intensified and the mystical veil she had painstakingly learned to maintain began to waver. With a gradual, almost graceful motion, Sirena elevated herself to her feet, revealing the diminutive and fragile form of a Dark fairy. Her physical stature was anything but intimidating, yet her enormous, eerie blue eyes held an intense and unwavering fixation on the individual who had summoned her likely causing some discomfort.

She remained silent, steadfast in her resolve to hold back the torrent of anxious thoughts and voices that continued to reverberate within her mind. As if seeking solace, she gently folded her arms in front of her body, fingers intertwining within her grasp. Her lips curved into a half-smile, albeit an oddly contorted and peculiar expression, as her shoulders relaxed, displaying a combination of vulnerability and fake confidence.

”Hello” Sirena mustered in a soft and mousey voice.

Along with Ismael, Arlen collected useful loot off the dead bandits. “Alrigh’, then. Help me haul ‘em over yonder,” he indicated an alleyway leading to the nearest pier. The two dragged the corpses through the small, desolate path, then dumped them straight into the sea. “Well!” Arlen clapped his hands together, then brushed them off as best he could. “That’s that.”

He followed Ismael, letting the human lead along the streets which were all to familiar to the elf. They wouldn’t get lost, and he was curious to see how Ismael did in unknown environments. “The most famous eatery here is Yolichi’s,” Arlen told him. “Figure that's what you saw.”

The two meandered to the restaurant. Though the elf had proclaimed it as famous, it appeared rundown and rather dank. They had to enter through a rickety doorway, go down a narrow staircase, and arrive in a low-ceiling room. Despite the bland if rustic interiors, there were quite a few people there. Arlen and Ismael took a two-person table near a window.

“Ya can ask ‘em to fry something fresh, or get something from the menu. Jus’ a heads up, the gator’s expensive stuff.”

The elf ordered a seafood stir fry and some ale, making casual conversation to Ismael as they waited. “So…there’s another good place around ‘ere. Sailor’s Pleasure,” he smiled slyly. “I know the people there, can probably get us a discount. Maybe some juicy info too~” he chuckled. “Or are ya more the type to pick ‘em up for free?” He nodded at the folk surrounding them. “Though, if ya changed ye mind, I’d always be up for some fun too, ya know?” Arlen grinned.

As the ale arrived, and he sipped on his drink, the elf grew thoughtful. “Still…I know she’ll be fine, but I am worried ‘bout Amisra. Her bein’ her, her pride might have got hurt worse than her head,” he joked weakly, but his heart wasn’t in it. “Maybe we should get some food packed up to go, bring it to our buddies on the ship.” He shrugged, then remembered something. “Oh, yeah, weren’t ya sayin’ how you’re missin’ a dagger? We can stop by a blacksmith or a shop too.”

Time: Late Morning / Early Afternoon
Location: Roshmi City / The Nest
Interactions: Scathael @Apex Sunburn, @Alivefalling, Mari @princess, and Thraash @funnyguy
Current Equipment: Massive adamantine greatsword w/ Ethereal enchantment, heavy full-plated adamantine armor, magic nullification enchanted cuffs, standard backpack, rope (up to 50ft), wayfinder and timeteller, fire starter kit, first aid kit, chemist set to produce different mixtures for his fogger device, and small kit for minor repairs and maintenance

A silent Five remained quite and focused, contemplating Mari's alternative offer. Their target was a manticore. Five had hunted many creature, typically large game that netted him plenty of amas. A manticore on the other hand was a different kind of beast all together; a mesh of limbs from other creatures and paired with an impressive intellect and uncanny powers. If the rabbit girl's words were true, it had even enlisted the services of a group of goblins. The small green-skins wouldn't pose any immediate threat to most veteran adventures, unless they were highly coordinated. Especially true if they were following the directives from a Manticore. Should such a hunt be successful and with minimal damage suffered, the income gained would far surpass Mari and Thraash's combined bounties, easily recuperating the expenses of tracking the pair down and enough left over to even consider a tune-up or even a partial overhaul of his framework. Yet, was taking up such a dangerous task worth it? Further more, would working with known criminals in the long term invite unwanted attention from dark elf officials? Mari's apparent confidence aside, he could still finish off Thraash now within the moment of a second and then cut down the others soon afterwards. Though the income in comparison wouldn't completely make up for prior expenses, requiring him to immediately look for new work elsewhere.

A bellow of steam jetted from his helm, followed by a droning guttural growl. Part of him hoped they would've simply paid off their bounty or make a worst offer, justifying his execution of all three of them as a response. It was times like this he found the costly complication of his body an annoyance. Money, to him, was a life blood. And having more on hand made such complications quickly vanish. The moment the ejected steam had evaporated, the sword which hovered over Thraash's head ascended away, finding its way back to the magnetic birth that was Five's armored back.

<<YOUR OFFER,>> Five began, <<IS ACCEPTABLE. I WILL VOID MY INTEREST IN YOUR BOUNTIES IN EXCHANGE FOR ASSISTING IN HUNTING DOWN THIS MANTICORE OF YOURS AND SHARING THE PROFITS. THIS I WILL AGREE TO ONLY.>>

Though he eyes still remained fixed to their respective targets, he momentarily regarded the dragonborn still lying on the floor, but no doubt recovering by now. The sensation of cutting him down still remained but he would remain true to his words, <<YOUR COMPANION, THRAASH, WILL RECOVER MOMENTARILY. IT WOULD BE WISE FOR HIM TO DISPELL ANY REMENANT HOSTILITY HENCEFORTH.>>

Time had passed but how much time was unknown to Cyrene as her eyes slowly opened. The pain in her head was throbbing, ensuring that she wouldn’t forget what had just happened to her. As her mind came to she realized the netting had been removed and she had been moved away from the water. Her eyes widened as the realization took a moment before she noted she was completely naked. Her body had dried and due to her distance from the water, it had morphed back into its human form.

She swiftly pulled her legs up as she leaned towards them, hiding her chest with her thighs as she curled into a small ball with her arms still behind her back. Cyrene looked around her environment, seeing a tent that was pitched under a large tree. It wasn’t anything fancy, she had certainly seen some grander-looking homes but he seemed to have made it his own with the simple yet useful items littered around.

Her adrenaline had been so active that she hadn’t even taken a moment to register that familiar situation she found herself in. The metal neckless that hung around her neck was a constant reminder. It was made from an elvish steel, completely circular with no sign of a keyhole or break. The neckless was a seamless collar, thin and made from the purest silver. Sadly Cyrene was of no value to anyone in her current state, and even though he would likely see her markings it mattered very little as the Siren had no voice.

“Hey!” Cyrene shouted “ I need… A blanket. Clothing…Something?” She called out hoping that where ever the strange man was he would hear.

Time: Late Morning
Location: The Nest, Roshmi City
Interaction: @princess Mari, @Alivefalling Aerilyn, [@Apex Sunset] Scathael, [@Shining Sector] FIVE

More and more. Bit by bit. Thraash regained feeling. Initially, it was simply his fingers and toes, wriggling against the fading numbness. Momentarily, his entire body swayed against the floor while his limbs found strength. A low growl preceded a groan from his effort to push himself up.

The conflict seemed to have already been resolved but Thraash was feeling more ornery than ever. Once again, Mari’s silver tongue had saved their asses. It was always that or his Muze Box. Their talents were a wicked combination of separate art styles that collaborated strangely well in tandem. He had saved her smooth hide at the fort so this made them even… Then again, he was so close to being wasted in this trash heap of a bar.

Thraash couldn’t help but grit his teeth as he established his balance upon standing up, his arms out to keep balance before his eyes met the visage of the warforged. As solid as he thought the metal man was, he couldn’t help but want to get another go at him. Poison was cheap. Sure, he could have easily been born with the same breath weapon as his mother, concentrated chlorine gas but… Who was he kidding, he’d use that shit because it was solid as fuck. To make your foes drop with a whiff of your toxic breath was something to admire. Still, Thraash was a poor sport at the moment. With his teeth still grit, he took a step toward the warforged, the two closer than what most would deem comfortable. He stared for several seconds before he let loose a scoff.

“Dispell any hostility henceforth?” The dragonborn smirked as if to challenge the repeated words. “It’s a deal, warforged, but you gotta fix your fuckin’ voice box or somethin’. No offense to Mari but you sound like a haughty light elf with shit taste in music. Fix it.” Thraash shook his head rapidly in an effort to shake away the slight numbness he still felt before he picked up his axe from the floor. “If not then just… talk less if you can help it. Name’s Thraash. You probably already know it since you’re a dying fan…Hmph… killing fan would fit better but…” Thraash leaned in a bit, closing the distance just a little more. “That’s passed huh? You’re part of our solid band of elite cutthroat hardcore killers. Fuckin’ rebels to the society around us. The leftovers. The fuckin’ ragers that ain’t gonna fuckin’ stop until we incinerate the system around us! You’re either solid or weak. And you. You’re solid as fuck, and I’m not talking about the steel for skin you got on your body.” He took a step back and turned to Mari.

“Good shit, little light. You fucked up our parley with Ears at the start but now we got a shockwave hammer-wielding bunny and a warforged that might be just as solid as I am."

Time: Morning
Location: Peninsula North of Roshmi
Interaction: Cyrene @Tpartywithzombi
Mention:
Equipment: Backpack, fishing net, fishing pole, 3 medium red potions, 3 small blue potions, 1 green potion, fire starting kit, poncho, rope, frogfly named “Beebee,” cooking pot, hygiene pouch, water purifier, wooden spear, handcrafted bow and arrows, knife, wool blanket, big fish

“We got a fish ooh! She’ll make us rich ooh! We got a fish ooh! She’ll make us rich ooh! Scale glow at night! That’ll be a sight! Gold in my hand! Acres of land! If she sings her song! Eros won’t be wrong!” Eros sang merrily, voice booming from outside of the tent with fervor. He performed a bit of a dance as he shut his eyes and shimmied his shoulders in excitement. This was the first big break he’d gotten in a decade, so Eros couldn’t help but be giddy at the prospect of successfully catching a possible siren by sheer luck. Not only was removing a threat to weak-minded sailors from the seas, but he’d be filling his pockets as well.

Though he wished he had music, Eros was happy with just the sound of his raspy singing voice. The sudden sound of his pleading captive was not enough to take him out of his moment of joy as he hummed his song as he entered the tent where she sat uncomfortably. Within the tent he continued to bop his head to his hummed tune until his eyes landed on the naked woman.

“Oh…. OH!” Eros’ eyes widened as he noticed the exposed parts of the woman before him. “Cover! Yeah, you’re going to need um….” He searched around for anything that could assist the woman in keeping her dignity against his curious eyes. His eyes scanned the interior of the tent rapidly before they locked onto his poncho. Yes! With a swiftness he sprang to the poncho and immediately threw it at the woman. “It’s something. Not a blanket or clothes but something. Good? Good. That’s the best you’ll receive from the likes of me if you’re a siren. And don’t bother singing if you are. I have a countermeasure for any song you have prepared. In fact! I am prepared for any ability you believe may work on me if you are indeed a scourge of the sea Hmph.” Eros’ eyes held a tinge of fire in them as spoke his last words, though his confidence could not amount to the abilities he claimed.

Was he bluffing? Yes, but she didn’t know that.

Time: Morning
Location: Riverport
Interactions: @JJ Doe Jun @Helo Zion @Tae Kenia @Alivefalling Stupid spiders
Equipment: Bow and quiver of arrows, Hygiene supplies, spray bottle, short sword, backpack, a few pieces of jerky, 1000 amas, transmission bracelet, Portable Solar Box, location sender
Attire: His outfit

Malachi's focus wavered as he noticed Jun departing with the child. An initial pang of frustration gripped him at the apparent abandonment, yet after a moment he felt relief. The grim reality was that it was best Jun and the child moved away. Zion was proof the spiders were not to be underestimated. However, what truly surprised him, was Kenia joining him in his attack with the rare skill and expertise. Even in his overwhelming emotion, he could not take his eyes off her.

Her strikes were akin to a viper's calculated precision. She was more than a beautiful woman bringing baked goods to her neighbors. Her deadly ballet was a dance that outshone many trained men he had fought with. ... Who is she?

It wasn't long before the spider had laid in a lifeless mass before them. He strung his bow immediately and spun on his feet, knowing very well that these creatures were never alone. His gaze locked on Zion in time to watch him his body being drawn into the forest. A surge of urgency flickered in Malachi's eyes and he moved forward. He imbued his sword with light magic as Zion roared and struck the webbing holding Zion with his sword. "You will not have him. " With gritted teeth, he shot bolts of light up into the canopy one after the other with a sense of desperation to end this. Zion needed to be taken for healing sooner rather than later.

The day continues on for our adventurers and the sun begins to set, casting a warm glow over the landscape of Avalia. The towering mushrooms and ancient trees, once illuminated by the vibrant pink of midday, now stand silhouetted against the darkening sky. As the night arrives, the world comes alive with the soft flutter of wings and the gentle hum of magical energies. Pixies and fireflies, tiny beacons of luminescence, dance through the air.

While the night appears to usher in peacefully, the responsibility of preserving that peace rests squarely on your shoulders...

Please discuss with your groups if need be and agree upon what has transpired within your group over the course of the day. Then, allow one designated person per group to be in charge of setting the scene. Anyone wanting to finish up any morning activities must please be clear about the time of their post and treat it as a flashback. Thank you.

ᴛɪᴍᴇ | Morning
ʟᴏᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ | Roshmi City Bakery
ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴꜱ | Mister Luum @FunnyGuy, Bardulf @Lava Alckon, Rue @Potter, Bowyn @Helo, Brigitte
ᴇQᴜɪᴘᴍᴇɴᴛ | Travel bag with essentials (money, rations, first aid, etc), sapphire pendant, twin daggers.

As the baker handed Zeva her items, Luum’s sudden voice boomed across the crowd, and the parcel of delicacies fell as the baker let go at the same moment Zeva darted her hands towards her ears. The parchment wrapping of the baked goods crinkled as it hit the cobblestone, but suffered less else than some bruising. Zeva stammered, “My e-ears??”

Luum’s apologetic tone and uncomfortable words of praise did little to lessen how conscious Zeva was of her ears in that moment, something she previously had barely taken attention to, though she tried not to show it. Her hands cupped the back of her ears and pressed them against the side of her head in an attempt to hide them from view. The winter fairy’s comment on the size of her ears only kindled more fire across Zeva’s cheeks, which were surely as red as apples now. Regardless, she tried to seize back control of the conversation with a confident tone, her ears reddening also the longer they were compressed by her cheeks. “Yes! That’s right. My ears are pretty great!” She promptly turned around and picked up the honey toast and bread off the floor.

At the table, there seemed to finally be a feeling of normalcy amongst the group. They seemed like a typical band of adventurers enjoying a morning breakfast together, not the secret operatives tasked with sparking rebellion like they said they were. No words interrupted the momentary peace as everyone quietly enjoyed the simple happiness provided by the sweet, filling toasts.

Of course, before long, the most rowdy and peculiar figure of the bunch, Mister Luum, took it upon himself to rob the group of that hard-sought peace. It hadn’t bothered Zeva much, but she had noticed a weariness painted on the others’ features that would have benefited with some more rest. Even so, they indulged the light elf as he rambled on with his lengthy self-introduction, littered with commentary that further emphasized his eccentricity. Zeva managed to pay enough attention to grasp that his favorite color was purple.

Bardulf took the initiative to go next. In between bites of honey toast, his mention of hunting caught Zeva’s attention. She felt a small joy finding something to relate to, even if it sounded like they hunted for different reasons. “Hunting, huh? Well, if we come across an owlbear again I would be happy to give it another go with you!” Mentioning the beast that almost killed her not too long ago was perhaps in bad taste, but Zeva found herself hilarious and chuckled.

Bowyn’s introduction left Zeva with more questions than answers. She raised an eyebrow at how the winter fae interacted with one another – did they…like each other? What was more clear was that he didn’t seem to favor Mister Luum much, or Zeva herself for that matter, with the light jab he made at her for her interaction with his pet earlier. She returned his pointed gaze by sticking her tongue out. In another life, Zeva would’ve loved his stoat friend if he hadn’t targeted her amas.

The winter fairy took on a more serious tone with the remainder of his speech, recounting his fears and goals for the future of Avalia. His words also resonated within Zeva, who had been ingrained with the same sentiments from the elders of her community. But she could not truly know their pain, raised in the relative safety of her parents’ loving arms and the walls of Aegnor Stonel. Still, she wished for change. That would be her greatest debt - to carry out vengeance for the loved ones who raised her.

Bowyn’s new nickname for Zeva caught her completely off guard, causing her to choke on her last bite of honey toast. She hit her fist against her chest a few times to knock the lodged piece of toast down her throat while letting out panicked coughs. Regaining her ability to breathe but not yet her composure, Zeva stumbled through her next words. “M-m-my, e-ea-, m-, what?!” A feeling of doom nestled down to her bones at the thought of ears becoming the moniker these people would label her with. She coughed one last time to reset her speech.

“W-well, that was my original plan. My boss at the Oak Tree gave me a week off when I said I wanted to come here to upgrade my daggers. As for the academy… well, what’s a few more absences, right?” Her lips tugged upward with a glint of arrogance. “Anyway, I’ll tell you all a little more about myself! My favorite color is also purple, more like lavender. My second is sapphire blue.” Her mind wandered to the sapphire pendant that she kept by her side at all times – her mother told her it was the last family heirloom they managed to keep from before the dark elves’ invasion. Zeva used to stare into the pendant often, admiring its shifting deep blues, the way it caught the light and reflected onto different surfaces. “As for religion… Hmm, they tell us about Solaris in school. He’s cool, but I don’t really care what the gods are up to. I keep myself busy with training and combat practice! My specialty is dual wield daggers, and while I’d say I’m plenty skilled with them I’m always striving to get stronger. I like weapons in general, I think it would be cool to try more and learn how to use them too. My parents taught me a good deal – daggers, swords, bow and arrow, to name a few...” Her voice trailed off, a bittersweet warmth spreading within her as Zeva reminisced on the time she spent with her mom and dad during these lessons. Her heart ached thinking of home, of her parents who would be worried sick not knowing where their daughter would be or what she would be up to for the indefinite future.

Zeva’s eyes narrowed as she tried to recall other parts to talk about, trying to avoid certain topics she knew she did not want to speak about. Her eyes caught the movement of Bowyn’s stoat scurrying around for food. A sheepish grin grew on Zeva’s face, “I…like…small animals too…” Her expression changed to a childish pout, “-not ones that steal, though.”

Time: Evening
Location: Roshmi City → Abroad the Righteous Tern, Northbound on the Eastern Sea
Interaction:, Bardulf @Lava Alckon, Rue @Potter, Bowyn @Helo, Zeva @Pink Khione, Brigitte @Tae (optional)
Mention: .
Equipment:Fancy Ring, Cold Ring, Oak Wood Staff IS BACK, Brown Leather Fingerless Channeling Gloves (not worn), Transmission Bracelet, 659 Amas.

The answers to Mister Luum’s several questions posed to the group earned a pleased grin and nods of interest from him. Even Bowyn’s charged answers failed to break his excitable spirit! Although, Zeva’s comment concerning her favorite also being purple caused a slight narrowing of his eyes. Who are you really? The words nearly lept from his lips as he continued to listen to the young elf share more about herself. He wouldn’t blurt out his thoughts this time around! Surely, it might happen again… Hell, it would definitely happen again… It was just a matter of when.

All the while, Brigitte was waiting her turn to share with the group, though she felt uneasy about what she should share. It was apparent that not every question required an answer. No one was forced to elaborate further on any response either. There was also the option of possibly just slipping into the background without uttering anything. She was almost sure no one would notice since she seemed to be in competition for least talkative with Rue, Raze, and Starfire. Still, she cleared her throat, prepared to take part with the others, or so she intended.

“Brigitte here is the second student of the University of Luum… or was it House of Luum? Eh, it matters not. Anyway, she’s traveled with and served me for a number of years now, helping me with my lifelong goal of becoming Avalia’s greatest sniper by being my spotter.” Mister Luum placed a gentle hand on Brigitte’s head while shooting her his grin. “She’s a good scout because she can see, smell, and hear things even most demihumans cannot…” He let those words linger for a bit before continuing. “She also has a love for hunting but more than anything, she loves to read and learn new things.” Mister Luum shrugged while removing his hand from her head as if there was nothing else interesting to add about her.

Once the group had finished their meal, they headed to the shops… together. Well, mostly together. Though they weren’t hand in hand or grouped up like a school of fish, they remained in eyeshot of each other. Mister Luum managed to purchase an oak wood staff to replace the one he lost previously while stating he wouldn’t allow “this one” to be stolen again. At some point, Brigitte managed to sell some of the loot taken from the gut of the malnourished owlbear. Mister Luum had wondered how the thing was alive with what the young woman had found after cutting the beast open. He didn’t even consider the poor soul that was eaten who might have been an upstarting jeweler of sorts. Excluding the 400 amas and Ring of Levitation in the leather pouch she retrieved, Brigitte was able to sell 1600 amas worth of gemstones.

When the shopping concluded, the group made a small tour of Roshmi City before boarding the ship that would take them to their destination of North Pass. The Righteous Tern, a ship belonging to Captain Treppie Blackclaw, a gruff badger demihuman who made his amas ferrying travelers across the eastern and northern see, though the latter fetched a steeper price due to the distance and occasional harassment when Avalian naval vessels searched his cargo. Mister Luum had talked the captain into making their trip private and paid him a hefty 1400 amas to allow only the Lumineers to passenger the ship for a one-way trip to North Pass. The deal warranted little argument since the travel fee was only 30 amas per person, and even transport of Starfire wasn’t questioned. Once aboard, Mister Luum found it fitting to divide the amas up amongst the other Luumineers, each receiving 100 amas for not fighting the owlbear, but for “being patient in receiving the loot.” As for the Ring of Levitation that was left over from the loot. Mister Luum tossed it to Bowyn but didn’t openly say why he chose him to take it.
. . . .

Time flew by and evening set in as the pink-hued sun sunk into the horizon. Still, its light left a faint impression on the sky while Roshmi City helped in keeping the evening in the evening of the sea from feeling like a plunge into an abyss. The ship had plenty of amenities onboard since the travel would last several hours, though some were modest. There were more than enough rooms for the group to each have their own quarters, though there were enough bedrolls in each for up to three to share a single space. Other than the Lumineers, there was the crew that handled the operation of the Righteous Tern from manning the sails to ensuring precise navigation on the waters. Beneath a canopy of the ship was a makeshift bar that had a small selection of alcohol with some recreational drugs stashed for those who were willing to ask.

As far as food, up to two meals would be provided for no additional cost though it was limited to the crews’ catch. Fish were aplenty this evening and would likely be served as a midnight snack or breakfast depending on when people felt the need to eat.

Mister Luum found himself leaning against the edge of the deck as he watched the last rays of sunlight leave Avalia. He took a deep breath of the salty sea air and exhaled a deep breath of relief. The man was unbelievably quiet as he had just remained in this very spot watching the sunset.

“We made it this far… Good.” The words softly escaped his lips as he admired the end of day. The thought of the well-being of the other groups was fleeting to him at best, though he did want to check in on Malachi. He wondered if he finally got back to smiling again.

Brigitte could be found seated at the bar toward the center of the ship, as far from the sight of water as she could. It was a mild fear but she would never want to be in a situation where she fell overboard. Her eyes scanned across the pages of a book she held titled, Majestic Scales: Dragons of Avalia. It was a book recommended by Mister Luum, though he seemed to have never read it himself which was usually the case if it didn’t exclusively pertain to magic.
