[OOC] Magic Hits the Streets (A Modern High Fantasy Adeventure!)

“So I see the title caught your attention, well then welcome to 2034 in a dimension opposite of our own. The world has progressed much like our own, but things are much different. Humans were not the only race to become intelligent enough to create civilizations, and creatures we would consider only myth have flourished and lived alongside their human counterparts for thousands of years. Welcome to Houston, Texas where you can be anything you want. From a Elvish cowboy to a Orc Football player. You can even live out a rudimentary life as a dragon who owns a pawnshop. The sky is the limit and even then it’s not that much of a limit.

The RP will be rather open world though for the most part I’d like most events to take place within the main city, though this doesn’t mean there can’t be side plots in other places. This will be a RP with no character limits and lots of NPCS. Lots of experiences are to be had from corrupt politicians, gang wars, and even Terrorist activities, I’m not even mentioning the rigors of day to day life in this world. If you have any questions suggestions etc simply ask me. I am currently working on a OOC so don’t expect it to be to long before you will be able to create your character in a World where just about anything is possible.” Quote from the Interest Check

2034, The city of Houston
Ever since Texas seceded from the United states in 2029 things have been on a heavy change in the lone star state.

A recent bill has been brought up by the Governor he is trying furiously to push it through. This very bill would change the lives of thousands as it requires all Magic Users to register and be kept track of publicly. Recent Crackdowns in poverty areas have created friction between the lower class Citizens of Houston and it’s Law Enforcement. Companies buy up large areas of land and kick the occupants out of their home, riots happen daily in the streets as people rally to try and save their homes. Abductions of non Humans have increased in significant proportions, and Pro Human Purity Rallies have begun taking place frequently in the streets as well. To top this all off two Terrorist attacks have taken place, one of them a bombing of a Police Station, and the other a City Council Chambers that luckily no one was in. This has lead to a movement to have PMCs patrol the city streets with military grade weaponry alongside the police force.

All These Things coming together are creating a powder keg in the City of Houston that seems like it could explode at any moment. Is it all coincidence? Will the city Destroy itself? What will you do in your part in this story? Will you save the city, help destroy it, or will you simply stand by and watch. It’s your choice. You should make it quick though if you want to survive in Houston.

Alright just to get it out of the way let’s start off with the rules.
1. Keep it Civil. I don’t care if someone’s dragon character is trying to eat your dwarf in the RP it’s in the RP don’t bring it into the OOC.
2. If I make a ruling on something or one of the GMs does then that’s the final ruling, no ifs ands or buts. I hate having to argue with people after I’ve made a decision.
3. Don’t Be OP I love you guys and I love creativity and I love to see you guys be SUPER creative, but don’t go around blowing up buildings and stuff with magic spells.
4. Post at least a paragraph per post. I don’t want to see a single line. There’s always at least enough for a paragraph.
5. Violence happens, sex happens, cussing happens. Only one of those can’t happen here. I don’t care if you RP sex. Just don’t do it in my RP. Insinuations of it having happened are fine. I just don’t want detailed RP of romance intimacy in the RP.

7. Make as many characters as you want! As long as you are able to keep up with them!

You never know if they’re gonna stop the guy who’s mugging you or ask him for half of what he takes out of your pocket.

The Yakuza: One of the largest and most power crime syndicates in Houston they have really flourished in the past few years, their money paying for many of the suits local Law Enforcement has been wearing. They have the claim on the Drug and Prostitute trade in the city and really don’t like it when someone closes in on their Turf.

Algera Corp: A leading producer in Pharmaceuticals, firearms, and Bionics. They hire only the finest security firms in Texas and have plenty of money to throw around when they need to.

OPERATION FREEDOM: is a terrorist organization. No one knows where they are, who is in the group, or who leads it. It is only know that they seek to reclaim the city from it’s corrupt government and companies.

Victor runs his own private detective service, Fine Print Investigative Services, and he'll take just about any client, for any reason. Its only him, living out of what loosely conforms to the idea of an office. It is located on the border between the Non-Human suburbs, Elf Haven, and Corporate HQ's, which gives him a lot of traffic of all kinds, though not all of them are looking for him for good reasons.

The office itself is a two story building at the corner of a street, with a battered sign hanging from above the doorway with a document and magnifying glass, and in older fancy script, Fine Print Investigative Services, and on the door was, on the glass, Detective Viktor Vladov in several different languages, including a few that weren't common to humanity. The first floor of the office was the actual office, and when one walked in they would quickly see it was cozy, if functional. A wood stove in the corner for an emergency, old carpet on the floor, a naked bulb hanging from the ceiling, several chairs, a couch, coffee table with a variety of current and not so current magazines, and a larger desk from which Victor worked. The desk held various reports, notes, paystubs, IOU's, and a bunch of other various and sundry things one would expect. A lockbox and safe under the desk are both secure from physical and magical intrusion, holding his various ammunition loadouts, both magical and mundane, and Viktor has no intent of letting anyone have those. Behind a locked door is a stairwell leading upstairs to his home, all open space so one can just walk where they need to. A small kitchenette, with stove, microwave, and refridgerator rested in the corner closest to the door. An armchair and small couch faced a used, but functional, 46" plasma screen TV, while a smaller, nicer desk faced the window, which had a computer and some writing utensils and paperwork on it as well, although at first glance the paperwork would actually be correspondence with various people in the city, who didn't trust electronics to get their messages back and forth. His twin sized bed was in the corner opposite of the door, and one of two rooms walled from the others, the other being a tiny bathroom adjacent to the small bedroom, since no one wants to see you using the john, after all.

The Underhill Motorcycle Club is known for being halflings but is accepting of every race and creed. Most of the business he gets is in the Drug and Arms business, though his market has been closing up for a few years now due to the rising power of the Yakuzas. He mainly runs the bar at the club and does the heavier Jobs they get from time to time. His gang is known for the discreetness and connection, so many people come to him for help or odd things that need to be done. They have also been taking on more and more theft jobs lately from the higher ups and have been collecting a good amount of change. In his spare time Rig has also been taking assassination Jobs from some of the more powerful people running the government, he works only with a small team of assassin halflings, despite how hard he's tried to keep those operations discreet, word has got out.

Hasty on dispensing justice for something the government has let slip through the cracks, the growing corporate hold on this city has further increased the gap between the classes. Those who are poor are getting poorer, while the rich line the government’s pockets with legal bribes. The whole system is to blame for this disparaging reality, and since the democratic view of changing things looks hopeless, these so-called terrorists will be the one to do the hard work. Even if it gets ugly, and innocents are caught in the way, no losses will be in vain, for achieving the greater good gives little time for grieving over mistakes or collateral damage.

The Dragon's Den. It mostly sells clothing, with a bit of jewellery, custom-made by Aussir himself. However, the jewellery is made as a hobby, and only if he comes across materials he likes for them. The company itself is far from racist, considering they have clothing for each race, and often encourage people to come and take a look at their wares. Recently, Aussir has had to hire someone to tend to the register, a young female dragon from the neighborhood. The company isn't big, just the one store, which seems to do quite well for itself. Their business is done in a professional and courteous manner, never forcing someone who walks in, to buy something. Half of their profits go to the maintaining of the neighborhood, which has been done for well over ninety years, and has continued even under Aussir's inheritance. The store is located in the Dragon-Burrough, close to the border of Elf Haven.

Houston Public Library, the largest public library in Houston. The library is open to anyone anywhere and anyone can check out a book as long as they have a library card attributed to the library. HPL is centrally located and is located above and houses a secret vault containing the national repository and archive of magical artifacts and spells protected by a two foot thick titanium vault door that weighs about six tons with a fingerprint lock, eye print lock, electronic combination, and rotary combination with a glass wall failsafe.

Lotuswich Shoppe at the edge of Elf Haven just outside Dragon's Den. A sandwich shop that Lillium has created from the ground up. She used her own money to get it started as she never trusted the bank or anyone else for a loan. It does fairly well, aside from random attacks by "criminals".
Due to her past, Lillium won't allow anyone who could be remotely considered Yakuza to eat her sandwiches.
Many police officers are not welcome.

The Government: This is mostly filled with high class people who were born with a Silver Spoon in their mouth. These people are usually some of the most corrupt in the city their pockets lined with the cash of major Corporations. There are a few Knights in shining armor among them though.

Victor has been around a few scrapes, and needs some equipment suitable for the job. His go to choice is two paired Kimber Custom sidearms, customized suitably to the half devil's preferred look. With reinforced slides, hair triggers, and smooth action, these .45's are deadly enough without being able to accept a variety of enchanted or mundane ammunition, which he keeps a stockpile of in his office, hard locked with a combination only know to Victor. When the enemy gets up close and personal, Victor is more than capable of getting down and dirty with his fists. But why bother getting your fists all bloodied up on some ugly gang banger's face when you can drop them with a Stun baton, modified to be collapsible. Normally non lethal, Victor has the strength and speed to make blows from this weapon more than lethal, should he focus on trying. He knows the amount of hackers out and about would love nothing more than to hack a tablet or smart phone, so he opts to instead use pen and paper, which they have to physically lift off of him, difficult when he keeps it secured in a very private location. He also has a badge stating his qualification as a private detective, which used to be his badge with the police force, but this was easily modified so it didn't count as a problem with the current police force.

Implants: The only 'Implant' that Victor has is at the base of his neck, a black gem carved with runes that prevent him from accessing the majority of his demonic heritage, only able to call up what his father's gift was, Shadowmelding. Obviously, he can't just remove the gem, or he would die from the backlash, but there is always a way to undo magic like that, one just needs to find the means...

Magic:
Partial Shadowmelding: His father was not a fighter, but one that acted as a scout, and he can naturally blend into shadows if he focuses, fading from view. But the gem in his neck severely restricts the powers he can actually call upon, and instead can only fade from view, rather than fully vanish, or actually travel from pool of shadows to pool of shadows, striking from a dozen places near instantly, as many shadow demons are feared for doing when confronted in a battle.

The black gem in his neck prevents him from accessing more abilities, but should the time come, these abilities are what the half devil knows is missing, from research and rare encounters with unlimited ones, before putting them down more often than not.

Hellfire: The classic fire and brimstone of myth, most demons who go to war know how to conjure up this infernal flame, even the scouts like his father, should they be forced into a corner. The most common application is a ball or stream of pure hellfire, dousing the victim in nigh unquenchable flames, burning through most material, given enough time. But that time can be used to remove the burning material, preventing the spread onto the rest of the body or further material, potentially severally weakening its effect. Victor would be able to channel Hellfire into his paired pistols, coating the pistols in blackish fire and, instead of bullets, small bolts of hellfire are launched instead, penetrating weaker material and combusting within, or scattering on harder surfaces and burning from there.

True Shadowmelding: The true capabilities of shadowmelding are unleashed, and Victor can attain a near perfect invisibility if he remains motionless, or travel from spot to spot. He is only a half breed, and this taxes him far more than the partial Shadowmelding did, and he can only travel once or twice without risking serious internal, and external, damage, on a daily basis, at best. He can no longer access what his partial Shadowmelding was, having to rely on the more taxing true form now.

Personality: Victor is a joker, easy to get along with when off the job, but with a stubborn streak a mile wide, the half devil is not easy to get off a job. He'll take most kinds of work, specializing in tracking down the stuff that doesn't want to be tracked down, and it shows. He doesn't know when to back down, bullheaded and sometimes easy to anger, more than ready to draw guns and open fire, relying on his half blooded nature to get out of a tight spot when it comes down to the line. He isn't cocky about his abilities, but he is confident, which some people confuse the two, but while he is hotblooded, he isn't suicidal and can tell when he absolutely can't win in a situation. But don't expect him not to come back later, waiting out back with a baseball bat to avenge himself with.

Bio: Victor Vladov doesn't talk overly much about himself, the most he will tell folks that his mother got swindled and bamboozled into taking demon shaft, and now hates both him and any non humans, but the story is a bit more complicated than he is letting on.

His father was indeed a demon, but not some charismatic, silver tongued being that talked his way into his mother's pants. The devil had no name, not being of high enough standing or rank to actually have earned one, sworn to a cadre of demons that the very existence of were shadowy and unsure. More familiar with shadows than anything else, this nameless Demon rose through the ranks, and spied this human female as a prize worth taking. So from the shadows he came, introducing himself to the terrified woman. He romanced her, awkwardly as some bystanders to their meetings would tell you, and their relationship ended with the recalling of his father, and the birth of their son, Victor Vladov, half breed devil. The demon never told his mate that he was a demon, lying to her about his true nature, never telling the truth to anyone.

His mother, realizing now that the boy's father was not some special kind of mage, but a full blown demon, cursed his name and the baby that she had given birth to. Half breeds weren't uncommon, but his mother hated anything that was not pure human, and herself felt violated that she had been used so by a filthy demon. She planned on abandoning the child, but her brother took the boy from her, who as the Uncle of the child, could take custody of. Contacts in the police force helped as well, and Victor never knew much of his mother, beyond her brazen racism and special hatred for demons now. One would think these things would prove traumatizing for such a young child, but it would not turn out that way.

While he was getting transferred to his Uncle, via the bureaucratic mess that was the paper work for a half devil child with no known father, he was implanted with a black gem at the base of his neck. This was actually an attempt on his life by a human supremacist instructed by his mother to do, and the black shard would have killed a full demon outright. All this did, however, was seal his nascent powers, or most of them. It was not a full gem, of whatever the make was, so it did not totally seal his powers. He still had access to the physical advantages, the abnormal strength, speed, resiliance to punishment and, assumed, was longevity. However, most of his powers that required manifesting were untouchable, just causing searing pain to the half devil if he tried, and rapidly gave up on it, as the gem grew to match his size as he grew up, organically growing so it didn't fall out.

His Uncle had been in charge of the investigative department of the Houston PD, and raised the boy to follow in his footsteps. Another person just trying to secure their own legacy, rather than raise the boy, but Victor learned quickly that, in this world, you looked out for yourself, or you were serving to the will of others. As a kid in school, one of the few that would accept a half devil, he had gotten into a lot of fights, over his heritage, his lack of real parents, all sorts of things really, and sometimes for no plain good reason. Rather than try and change this, his Uncle chose to teach him how to fight so no one would screw with him. It worked, after he hospitalized some bully for harassing another young girl. Granted, he needed to be transferred, but it had to be quite the memory for all parties involved.

Getting out of high school, on his Uncle's recommendation, he went to the Police Academy to train to be a Detective. The Academy wasn't easy for him, a regimented life style was not what he was used to, but he did dig the idea of helping others, so he stuck through with it. He excelled in the combat training aspects, from marksmanship to hand to hand, as well as using equipment and gear, and he always had a knack for finding things others did, and far more importantly didn't, want found. He even got an instructor fired for his promiscuity with a student, which he tracked down because the guy ticked him off. That was the beginning of the end for his police career, for when he graduated the Academy, with full honors, he was relegated to a desk jockey job instead of actually going out and working.

Victor wasn't having that, so he bailed as soon as possible, now in his mid twenties with no job, he used what money he had to buy a small building and converted it into part office, part apartment. He christened his new business Fine Print Investigative Services, attempting to make a joke about how the fine print always taketh away. His knack for finding things really shined here, with no rules or regulations to stop him from actually going out and finding what he was looking for. He kicked down doors, shot up small gangs, got into the odd running gunfight with corrupt police forces that wouldn't let him do his job, and made a name for himself as an unshakeable blood hound, just not a big name, since his mother still kept him from attaining any sort of fame through her connections and assaults on him, both figuratively and literally, but he continues to make a good living regardless, although he just might stop taking shit from the human supremacists, and his mother, once and for all.

Misc: Victor's demon blood gives him better strength, speed, and durability, comparable or superior to most implants, and his night vision is naturally better thanks to the origins of his father.

Company/Organization: Victor runs his own private detective service, Fine Print Investigative Services, and he'll take just about any client, for any reason. Its only him, living out of what loosely conforms to the idea of an office. It is located on the border between the Non-Human suburbs, Elf Haven, and Corporate HQ's, which gives him a lot of traffic of all kinds, though not all of them are looking for him for good reasons.

The office itself is a two story building at the corner of a street, with a battered sign hanging from above the doorway with a document and magnifying glass, and in older fancy script, Fine Print Investigative Services, and on the door was, on the glass, Detective Viktor Vladov in several different languages, including a few that weren't common to humanity. The first floor of the office was the actual office, and when one walked in they would quickly see it was cozy, if functional. A wood stove in the corner for an emergency, old carpet on the floor, a naked bulb hanging from the ceiling, several chairs, a couch, coffee table with a variety of current and not so current magazines, and a larger desk from which Victor worked. The desk held various reports, notes, paystubs, IOU's, and a bunch of other various and sundry things one would expect. A lockbox and safe under the desk are both secure from physical and magical intrusion, holding his various ammunition loadouts, both magical and mundane, and Viktor has no intent of letting anyone have those. Behind a locked door is a stairwell leading upstairs to his home, all open space so one can just walk where they need to. A small kitchenette, with stove, microwave, and refridgerator rested in the corner closest to the door. An armchair and small couch faced a used, but functional, 46" plasma screen TV, while a smaller, nicer desk faced the window, which had a computer and some writing utensils and paperwork on it as well, although at first glance the paperwork would actually be correspondence with various people in the city, who didn't trust electronics to get their messages back and forth. His twin sized bed was in the corner opposite of the door, and one of two rooms walled from the others, the other being a tiny bathroom adjacent to the small bedroom, since no one wants to see you using the john, after all.

Appearance: Due to many drunken nights out with is boys, Rig has several deep scars on his face, one in particular stretches from the corner of the left side of his mouth to just about the back of his jaw. He has long black hair but usually keeps shoved in his bandana. He wears his crews signature black armor vests almost constantly, and even has the insignia tattooed under his left eye the two intricate skulls sitting on a plain hill. He has green eyes that look like the deepest emerald you'd ever seen, his mother had those same eyes and it was quite a rarity so he often kept his aviators on even in meetings and would only take them off with someone he truly trusted. As a child the other boys would say he was the son of a witch and thats why he was born with those eyes, he for one thought it was utter bullshit but it is still a soft spot of his. He has a very welcoming look to his face, almost like he couldn't possibly hurt you, until you see all the scars. He normally wears a black, long sleeved, button up shirt with white buttons under his vest, and normal black jeans and boots when he's relaxing. He's rather big for a halfling standing at 5'1, he often thinks there must be something else down the line running through his veins.

Equipment: He has a antique sawed off shotgun on his bike at all times, along with a few different cases of enchanted ammo in a security box in his saddle bag that will only open to his fingerprint. Rig normally carries roughly ten to fifteen knifes on him depending on what he was wearing, his normal garb unfortunately he can only conceal about eight. His armor in particular, unlike the rest of his gang, is made of Dragonscale that he only uses in emergency situations, but he usually can be found wearing his black thick leather armor like the rest of his gang. He also always has his dagger Rsfile on his hip, a weapon made of white enchanted steel, its said that the dagger made sonic booms as it sliced through the air and has even been know to create gusts of mild winds.

Magic: He has small runes on his feet to lighten his step a bit and a few on his hands for dexterity, but his biggest magic is his psychic vampirism, that many don't even know about. This give him small telekinetic powers, and some pretty strong telepathic ones he cant read the minds of an entire room or even an intellectual at any level, but a dumb grunt with one look into his eyes would fall prey. That his the true reason behind his eyes being how they are, not witchcraft. He can also communicate with people with thought from at least a 2 mile distance but at that point he would be straining his capabilities and would probably need to drain someone. Also the person would have to accept him in there head, and that's really unlikely. His most prized talent is his illusionary trick, where he makes someone see a false truth and even believe it for a few moments. Again he couldn't do it on any intellectual being. But his Psycic Vampirism could affect you in slight ways, loss of hearing maybe, or slight hallucinations, the most prominent would be your psychological health though and he could never kill you using it.

Personality: He really is a rough around the edges kind of guy, and isn't really used to people being above him, he's also kind of distant at times, as though hes totally checked out from this world and all it entails. Rig also has been know to go into his bouts of rage. Though he is an extremely difficult person to deal with when he isn't in a bad mood he actually quite a character and many would call him a friend on those days. Sometimes he just has a way of talking though that pisses people off, he assumes that since he was born with his powers on the mind he can just say whatever he wants, then fix it. That doesn't seem to always work

Bio: Leaf was born in a small town on the west coast of North America to a widowed woman named Lucy. As a boy Rig would tell his mom of all the ‘big big things’ he would grow up to do, all the people he would help. Sometimes he finds himself at the bar in light of that memory. He never understood it fully though, how she hid it so well. The stark madness that came with this power, the gluttony. When his mother was still healthy and alive, she would take him out to the fields to do there mock knife fights he had loved so much but always lost. His mother was no stranger to the sword either and on her death bed she revealed to him her biggest secret, the soul of his father trapped in Rsfile. So life went on an he moved to Houston and quickly fell in with the wrong crowd and soon had made a name for himself in the biking community. Then one day he got enough money together to buy the Club and hes been running it ever since.

Misc: Never call him Rig or you’ll see his bad side on the quick.

Company/Organization: The Underhill Motorcycle Club is known for being halflings but is accepting of every race and creed. Most of the business he gets is in the Drug and Arms business, though his market has been closing up for a few years now due to the rising power of the Yakuzas. He mainly runs the bar at the club and does the heavier Jobs they get from time to time. His gang is known for the discreetness and connection, so many people come to him for help or odd things that need to be done. They have also been taking on more and more theft jobs lately from the higher ups and have been collecting a good amount of change. In his spare time Rig has also been taking assassination Jobs from some of the more powerful people running the government, he works only with a small team of assassin halflings, despite how hard he's tried to keep those operations discreet, word has got out.

Appearance: Allie is bellow average height for a middle aged human, she has a little meat on her bones, not overweight, but you might not call her "skinny", she has tanned skin and striking red hair, with striking orange eyes. Her hair reaches down to her waist and she doesn't seem to ever cut it. Her face is rounded, with soft features, and her eyes are framed well with some thick eye lashes. She wears gender neutral clothing, unless working, then she wears business attire, skirt, leggings and all.
Equipment: She uses a trusty laptop, which she carries around often, and also has a bracelet to help stabilize her abilities.
Implants: She has none
Magic: Being a phoenix she able to regenerate after being mortally wounded, when she "dies" she melts into ashes, and it takes a day or so for her to come back, if her ashes scatter, they will pull together no matter how far apart they are spread. She does not start with her normal body, and actually reverts to the body of a 15 or 16 year old, a fact she laments dearly. Also due to her race, she has an ability to control fire, though for a phoenix, she is atrocious with it. Hence her bracelet
Personality: Allie is a somewhat sassy and sarcastic girl, she talks how she wants with most people, unless she knows they can maker life sh*t when they can't handle a joke. She tries to be an optimist though that doesn't usually hold true. She has some slight attitude problems, and doesn't seem to want to fix them. Really she is just an average person, she has her quirks but hey, who doesn't.
Bio: Allie has been around for a while, constantly dying and coming back will let you do that. You might think she would be wise and stoic after all those years, but she seems to be forever a somewhat angsty teen. She lives life rather uneventfully and deals with what she has, not much drama or earth shattering plot here. Just a chick who is bad at dying.
Misc: Some people seem to be sniffing about her as of late, she has no idea why.
Company/Organization: The Texas times. A relatively mediocre company with a relatively mediocre paper.

Appearance: If you had never met her before, Alyssa’s demeanor could be intimidating. She has a purposeful, but cold stare with her hazel eyes. She often has a keffiyeh loose around her neck, for when she should need it. A satchel remains at her side at all times, probably big enough to hold some sort of computing device. She stands at about an average height and weight for a woman her age, and doesn’t stand out much; perhaps that’s the point.

Equipment: Alyssa carries a short extendable night stick, which can be electrified with nearly 6 million volts, enough to severely disorientate or KO someone. In the satchel she keeps a tablet-like device, which allows her to alter technology within a few feet of herself, such as lights, cameras or scanning devices.

Implants: Primary sensory implant, increases awareness in low-light situations (not night vision), and allows for the user to enhance their hearing capabilities. What was once a mere mutter or a whisper from behind a door, is now amplified.

Magic: Alyssa’s focus on magic is split between offensive and defensive. She can produce baseball-sized spheres of energy which can be hurled at foes. If one were to be hit by this ability the blow would not be fatal, and would be more like the needles of a stun gun finding their way into one’s shoulder, which would injure and disorient. Alyssa can also create a spark remotely, in about a 5-meter range, which is useful in many different ways.

Her defensive magics consist of a thick vapor screen, which will fog up sensors and obscure vision otherwise, as well as her cold aura ability, which if concentrated, can throw of thermal sensors.

Personality: Alyssa could be seen as somewhat of a recluse as far as the general public is concerned. She has abandoned all of her friends and family, cutting off contact completely. However she knows she is far from alone, and takes pride in the fact that she has family in a new way, her brothers and sisters fighting for their land’s sovereignty, doing all that they can to wrestle it from their corporate overloards.

Sometimes innocents get caught in the middle, but those are the sacrifices everyone has to make for this kind of struggle. Just look what she has given up for herself. At least this way, if she dies fighting in what she believes in, her family can’t be stigmatized because of it.

Bio: “Not many people, even here, know my real name- much less where I’ve come from. To tell you the truth, I’m from Houston, born and raised. You hear a lot about the freelancers, guys and gals who join up just because they like fucking with ‘the man’, but that’s not me. As much as I love my folks and my friends, they were all just too complacent with our situation. Every day, more and more rights are stripped away, but they insisted it would get better.

Maybe early on it was my ‘teen angst’ that got my blood pumping for change, even if the only effect it really had on me at the time was hindering my education by defunding our schools. I just couldn’t bear over-hearing my folks talking to eachother about the rising price of living, and how we might have to sell the home. No fucking way I knew what I was getting myself into.

By the time I graduated from high school, we had already moved to different parts of the city- twice just so we could manage to barely hold on to the fleeting middle class. One of my buddies, Arkayem, a dwarf, convinced me that we do have a decision on what’s happening to our society. If asking doesn’t do the trick, then take what you need and give it back to the people of Houston.

We kept talking for months on the subject, and I got the feeling he was testing my boundries and my motives. Whatever I told him must have satisfied him though, because that’s when I learned of Operation Freedom. Not my favorite choice for a name, but hey, I suppose it holds true to the Texas tradition, heh.

I did some work on the side for them for a while, nothing detailed, but when they brought me in completely I decided to cut all ties to my family. Better they not know what their Alyssa is capable of. Maybe one day, if I live through all this mess, I’ll be able to go back to a normal life. That’s all this is supposed to be. A means to an end.”

Misc: Alyssa tries to utilize violence as a very last resort. Operation Freedom influences the city in many ways, some public, though subtly, but most through underground networks which conceal their presence. Alyssa is more involved in inciting social unrest, occasionally assisting and providing for protestors in clashes with law enforcement (police, or PMC). She makes a habit of just being a face in a crowd.

Company/Organization: OPERATION FREEDOM; Hasty on dispensing justice for something the government has let slip through the cracks, the growing corporate hold on this city has further increased the gap between the classes. Those who are poor are getting poorer, while the rich line the government’s pockets with legal bribes. The whole system is to blame for this disparaging reality, and since the democratic view of changing things looks hopeless, these so-called terrorists will be the one to do the hard work. Even if it gets ugly, and innocents are caught in the way, no losses will be in vain, for achieving the greater good gives little time for grieving over mistakes or collateral damage.

Name: Aussir Denthanus

Equipment: A large war sword he keeps in the back room of the shop, along with a shotgun behind the counter, and two semi-automatic pistols strapped to the back of his waist.

Implants: A cybernetic eye which replaced his lost eye.

Magic: Dracoshift: A very basic spell which allows Aussir to become human in appearance, it also allows him to change back to his dragon form.

Holy Breath: A magic only able to be used in his dragon form. It changes Aussir's breath from flames, to a white healing fire, though this can only be used once per day due to special circumstances.

Ward: This magic can only be used while in his humanized state. Aussir covers himself and his allies with a physical ward that deflects most physical attacks, with the exception of bullets and magically augmented weapons. This spell drains Aussir immensely, and once it's effects wear off, he is left weakened and unable to defend himself.

Personality: Aussir is known throughout the neighborhood as a kind-hearted dragon, despite how he came to the city. He is honorable, and has a strong sense of justice. He also won't let corrupt people push him or others around, and often has been seen fighting for that belief. While Aussir appears to be kind-hearted, he does keep others away from him, afraid to have anyone understand who he is inside.

Bio: Not much is known about Aussir's origins, other than the fact he is different from other dragons in the city. Even he doesn't entirely remember where he came from, though fragments of his memory reveal that he once lived in a city, too. At the age of five, he was taken in by another dragon and raised like the dragon's son, being taught many different things about the city he was in now. It was large, and maybe someone knew where he had come from, or at least knew where he could start looking. However, as the years went by, the older dragon fell ill and eventually passed away. With no other family to take over the shop, it fell upon Aussir to inherit the shop and keep it running. Despite this, he usually finds himself thinking about the past that he cannot remember, and of his parents. Where were they? Why couldn't he remember them? Despite these questions, Aussir has gone on with life in the city, facing daily threats to both his store, and to his fellow shop owners. One day, after having beaten off another group of criminals, he noticed another group already having at it with the Sandwich Shop later on that day. Already enraged from the previous fight, he wasted no time getting involved in that one, unaware that the owner wasn't there at the time. It was a long fight, but Aussir won in the end, but not before having taken several severe wounds. After some time, he returned to his shop, collapsing in the back room after closing up early. After that day, he's kept a close eye on the sandwich shop, often visiting it.

Misc: Sort of has his own little hoard of stylish clothing, though they are only ever displayed and never put up for sale. The hoard also includes several large books containing knowledge of the world, however, he rarely ever touches these.

Company: The Dragon's Den. It mostly sells clothing, with a bit of jewellery, custom-made by Aussir himself. However, the jewellery is made as a hobby, and only if he comes across materials he likes for them. The company itself is far from racist, considering they have clothing for each race, and often encourage people to come and take a look at their wares. Recently, Aussir has had to hire someone to tend to the register, a young female dragon from the neighborhood. The company isn't big, just the one store, which seems to do quite well for itself. Their business is done in a professional and courteous manner, never forcing someone who walks in, to buy something. Half of their profits go to the maintaining of the neighborhood, which has been done for well over ninety years, and has continued even under Aussir's inheritance. The store is located in the Dragon-Burrough, close to the border of Elf Haven.
