Their will and endless greed allows them to grow and accend past other creatures
But their mortality denies them divinity

It's a delightful purgatory between being Fallen and being Divine"

Kalla

With Allard safe back at his tavern, at least for now, Maeve went together with Valia to help Lynn. While it was indeed a surprise to see a merfolk so far away from home, it was still a fact that she needed some help if she didn't want to dehydrate, especially since they were in Kalla. Ironically enough, despite the fact that there couldn't have be any more differences between Lynn's home and Maeve, she could relate very well with the climate problem Lynn shared with her.

"There is no need to thank me. More than anyone else, I know well how it is to suffer in this heat." Maeve said with a chuckle as she smiled to Lynn and Valia, who were going together with the other girls who studied under Valia towards the baths.

Upon arriving at the bathhouse, they helped Lynn to get undressed and putting her inside one of the tubs while one of the girls went to fetch more water from the oasis. It didn't need much for one to realize how exhausted the poor girl was. Even her voice was but a whisper as she spoke, apologizing for the trouble of carrying her and having to help her.

"It is as Valia said. Don't worry too much about it. I myself volunteered to help because out of anyone here, I should be the one knows best how awful it is to have to suffer in this climate. I did came from Tundral, after all." Maeve said with a chuckle as she smiled amicably towards Lynn.

"Besides, I am fairly certain that if there is someone here at Kalla who knows how to take care of their skin despite the awfully arid and hot climate, that person is Madame Valia." Maeve said, winking to Valia with a smirk as she said that.

Unfortunately, despite hers and Valia's calming words, it seemed that Lynn had indeed went through quite a lot. The moment she opened her mouth to try and explain the situation she found herself in, it was almost as if a torrent of words and feelings came out. Maeve could feel in the girls voice how heavy was the burden she was shouldering all by herself all this time. Far from home, searching the artifact that were stolen from her village, she was probably the only one that could do so. So when Valia apologized herself for having to delay her lessons a bit more, Maeve simply shook her head with a sad expression as she looked at Lynn.

"No one should have to suffer as much as this girl did. The burden she carried all this time, all by herself, isn't something anyone should carry." Maeve said with an understanding tone as she turned towards Lynn.

"Now is not the time to worry about such things, Lynn. Just rest. You did good coming all the way to Kalla by yourself. I am sure that your elders would be saddened to see you suffering like this as much as me and Valia are right now." Maeve said as she gently put her fingers inside the tub, using some of her magic to make the water a bit colder in order to help with the heat.

Myra was entertained with her meat, happy that Mathis had accepted the piece of meat she offered him. After spending a bit of time with him, she was comfortable enough to be alone near him as Darius went to check on Artemis. When Mathis asked how she and Darius met though, Myra stopped eating for a moment, tilting her head in a thoughtful expression. Thinking back to the first time she saw Darius when he was still traveling with Skarr, so many things happened that it was almost strange for her to think about them. In a few weeks, Myra had done more things with Darius than she had in months in the forest.

Looking at Mathis after a few seconds thinking, Myra pointed outside, drawing a tree with her fingers before stopping and thinking a bit. Almost as if she had an idea, she looked at Mathis again. Pointing towards Darius went, she put her arms on the table, laying her head down almost as if she was sleeping. Getting up from the chair, Myra got to the side of the chair where she was a moment ago, doing a poking motion with her finger on the place where her head was laying down.

After that, Myra looked around until she saw a woman wearing a green dress. Pointing at the dress, Myra pointed at her own skin again, showing her fangs and opening her arms to look bigger.

"S-Karr!" Myra said, happy to remember her name as she smiled to Mathis before she made a distant expression, almost if she was a bit sad. So many things happened since Skarr went on her own way. Myra wondered how she was right now...

As Ayita was getting back to the ball, she noticed a woman smiling towards her at the balcony. With her head a bit clearer, Ayita smiled back with a kind smile. She didn't know the woman other than having saw her earlier at the ball but she wondered for how long she was at the balcony and if she had tried to call her attention in some way. After all, she was distracted with her own thoughts for quite a while. Making a small wave towards the woman and a discreet bow, meant both as an apology for maybe not having paid attention to her and to excuse herself, Ayita went back inside the ball in order to search for her companions.

It didn't take much until Ayita found Sakura... or better... was found by her as she called her name, waving towards Ayita. Cade too was together with her, smiling as he said something to her with a happy expression. Apparently he had quite a good evening dancing. Certainly better than hers... As she approached them, Ayita smiled as she waved back to them.

"Hey Sakura! I see that Cade's evening went way better than mine, haven't it? You're almost sparkling with how happy you are!" Ayita said with a chuckle. Despite her trying to hide it, it was quite clear that something had happened that altered her humor quite a lot.

"Indeed, I could really go for some food right now. Something to calm down my stomach. Besides, you are right, Sakura, we were interrupted before we could have dinner, weren't we?" she asked with a smile.

Mikhail ended up being informed of the contents of the letter after he had calmed down his own thoughts. Unfortunately, the situation Xandar put himself into wasn't exactly a desirable one. Having been invited by the so called "Lady Alice", whom they barely knew, he exposed himself to danger by walking right into the claws of a queen. Trusting the said priestess that could open a portal to Kaeleer was already risky, but it didn't even came close to blindly trusting an unknown queen. That day had been nothing but trouble. The first problem arose at the inn, with the discussion and what was said to Faeril, in a few moments though, one problem turned into two when they saw themselves forced to trust an unknown priestess to go to Kaeleer and finally, the two problems turned into three when they received Xandar's message.

With the group dividing in three groups, Mikhail was tasked in accompanying Gennar and Fatima to see the priestess that was supposed to help them going to Kaeleer. Even though Mikhail was, in a certain manner, relieved to have received the least problematic task, he still had his worries regarding Faeril, whom despite being safe at the inn, didn't show signs of getting better yet and more importantly, he worried for the situation with that 'Alice'. Jandar went to her court alone. While it could be interpreted by the queen as a sign that they had peaceful intentions, it could also put them in disadvantage. Jandar was, after all, by himself and Xandar... well... his actions were as erratic and unpredictable as ever.

Mikhail followed Gennar and Fatima down the old road that led them to where they were supposed to meet the priestess. As they approached the place, Mikhail soon heard the rhythmic, creaking noise of a rocking chair. The moment his eyes saw an old woman, carelessly knitting in front of an old cottage, he was visibly more relaxed. That fact, coupled with him not perceiving any other presence or strange noise around meant that the priestess was probably, harmless... Or at least the number of manners that she could be a threat to them were very little.

As the group approached the old cottage though, the old priestess proved to have quite the sharp senses as she greeted them, almost immediately mentioning that Fatima was not only a queen, but a dark jeweled one at that. Leaving the introductions to Fatima, whom among him and Gennar, was probably the most suited to those type of interaction, Mikhail simply nodded to them, silently letting them know that it was everything okay before looking to the old priestess and making a discreet but rather polite bow, greeting her in silence. Despite her age, she had sharp senses and judging by how much she was able to tell about them with a single glance, had wisdom according to her age. Maybe meeting that old priestess could be a blessing instead of another problem for them to deal with.
Aiko Kamiya

With the issue about a job and hopefully about money dealt with, Aiko left to do her own things. Having only to prepare herself and wait for the call from her contractor and having to do only a small checkup on her equipment after the last modification she did, she was taking her time riding home. Taking one of the longer routes, she was riding in a relatively calm manner, nowhere as fast a she usually did. Truth be told, she was a bit relieved to not have to crawl back to Don again for a job, she hated how he had this way of slowly closing his claws around anyone or anything he was interested in, leaving no space for them to escape when they finally noticed...

Unfortunately it seemed like she wasn't going to be able to relax just yet. Noticing that she was being followed, Aiko did nothing for the first few seconds, only looking at her pursuers in a discreet manner. Their pursuers seemed to be three goons, possibly members of a gang. It was pretty unlikely for people to go after her, both for her being well known on the area and due to her being generally a pretty chill girl, not getting into trouble with anyone... Other than the authorities, that is. That said, it wasn't difficult for Aiko to imagine why those thugs were going after her... News went around pretty fast, especially if you had the influence and information network Don had. If the talk that Aiko was able to get a job got on Don's ears, he wouldn't be happy about it. That said... simple goons couldn't be considered anything more than a small distraction for Aiko.

Looking towards her pursuers in a not-so-discreet manner, Aiko simply let out a mocking grin as she began gradually going faster and faster, just to see if they were able to follow her. With the speed rising, so did the maneuvers and the complexity of the routes she took, diving deeper and deeper into the steel jungle that the lower levels of Midgard were.
Ada

@PaulHaynek@Rezod92

Ada was just ecstatic when she received not one but three balloons from the masked vendor. Carrying them around in her hand, she was almost hopping around while holding Kira's hand and watching how the balloons floated in the air. Not only their vibrant colors were really pretty but when she rubbed her finger on them, they made a funny sound! That said, after what happened with the other balloon though, Ada was being very careful when touching the balloons in order to not pop them again.

The moment they arrived on the place where the cooking competition was going on though, Ada almost immediately got distracted by the smell of food. Still being careful to not let her balloons go, Ada gave a step forward while sniffing the air. All the dishes that were being made had strange but definitely enticing smells. The first one that called her attention was obviously the big slab of meat that the blonde man prepared. Even though Ada knew meat very well, she had never eaten one prepared like that. It smelled a bit different from normal meat too, almost as if he had added something to the meat. As she looked at the other dishes though, Ada's curiosity grew. Yang made a strange dish with lots of stringy things floating in a soup that had a really good smell, despite the strange appearance for Ada. The spider lady was making a strange dish with fish. Even though Ada had eaten fish before, the dish the spider lady was doing was different, as she was wrapping the fish with a thin, black thing together with some small white grains. Lastly, the bird maid was making a dish with some roots and greens.

Ada was distracted with all the smells but when Talia mentioned tasting them, Ada looked at both her and Kira with an excited expression, almost if asking if she really would be able to taste them. Regarding which one she would like to try first though, Ada simply couldn't decide. Meat was always good but she had never seen the weird strings that Yang was preparing or eaten fish like how the spider lady was doing it. Truth be told, Ada loved food and things she didn't know. When putting both of them together, of course her curiosity wouldn't let her ignore the chance to taste something new.

Much to Talia and Kira's surprise though, Ada looked at them while pointing towards Yang and the spider lady's dishes while she opened her mouth. Even though she hesitated a bit in the beginning, it was almost as if she was trying to say something.

"F-Foo?" Ada asked with a surprisingly clear and melodic voice, which was rather unexpected seeing how she didn't seem to speak that much.

"Foo!" she said again, gently pulling Kira's arm towards the food as she looked at it excitedly.

Freyr

Freyr held Sir Reed's hand in a firm handshake before he returned to preparing himself for the competition. What he wasn't expecting though was to hear Haley's saying that watching him was more exciting than the competition. Surprised by that comment, Freyr looked at Haley for a brief moment before averting his gaze, blushing and embarrassed, not knowing how to react to those words.

"I-I... Well... It's not like..." he tried to say, hesitating as he looked away while unsuccessfully trying to hide his embarrassment.

To make things even more embarrassing for him, the moment Haley said that, the crowd that had gathered for the competition let out surprised giggles and smiles at both Freyr and Haley's reactions, making them laugh even more when Haley protested and seeing how the normally composed Freyr reacted to that.

"... Thank you, Haley." Freyr said after a moment, looking to her with a kind, although still a bit blushed and embarrassed, smile.

While it did take Freyr a few minutes to calm himself down and regain his composure, especially now that he was really conscious of Haley's presence there, when he finally did so, the competition was about to start.

At the beginning, all the competitors seemed to be evenly matched, with everyone hitting their shots right at the center of the target. It did take a while but Sir Reed was the first one to miss his shot. Haley seemed to be rather happy to be able to get back at Sir Reed for making fun of her earlier though, which made Freyr laugh a bit.

"It was a good match." Freyr said, complimenting Sir Reed as he walked towards him.

Surprisingly though, after that, the remaining competitors weren't missing a single arrow and seemed to be equally matched, which made the competition last longer than what Haley and Freyr had expected. After a few more shots, it became quite obvious that the competition would never end at that pace, due to the skill of the competitors and a break was proposed to discuss how to break the stalemate.

Sir Reed soon came to talk to Freyr when the break started, mentioning how monsters usually excelled at the field they specialized themselves in. Truth be told, Freyr himself didn't expect to find other people as good with a bow as he was.

"I wasn't expecting such a fierce competition as well. That said, it is quite interesting nonetheless. A good challenge, that is." Freyr replied to Sir Reed with an amicable expression.

When Sir Reed mentioning calling Haley though, Freyr's face almost immediately went red. She did came there to watch him but should he really call her?

"Well, I mean... I think I'm going to save my appetite for when we're finished here. I'm sure that Yang will let us taste a bit of her food. Regarding the competition... I have no idea. It is the first time I'm meeting other people who are as good with a bow as I am. I am pleasantly surprised too. By the looks of it though, it doesn't seem we will be able to break the stalemate only by continuing the competition. Maybe we should try increasing the difficulty a little?" Freyr said, clearing his throat as he tried to regain his composure.

"And regarding Haley... Well... She did came here to watch me and I don't think she was expecting the archery competition to take this long so she might be a bit bored... If you could call her for me, I would be grateful. Tell her that she doesn't need to stay here if she doesn't want to..." Freyr said. The way how he was over explaining his reasons was a clear indication of how embarrassed he was though.

While searching for a place to eat, Ylva's first idea was the bakery that she sometimes passed by when on a small break from work or arriving on it. Most of the days, almost the entire floor was flooded with the enticing smell of freshly baked goods, which made it hard to ignore the place. Despite that, she had never stopped to eat at the place. Since she wasn't going to work today though, she figured out that she should stop there at least once. Besides, it would be the perfect time to go as most of the baked goods they sold there probably had just gotten out of the oven. Unfortunately for her, the moment she arrived at the place, she was met with the place closed. Probably, the owner of the Starbucks on the mall wasn't the only one who ended up not opening his business after the incident the last night.

Sighing with a disappointed expression, Ylva shook her head as she looked at the closed bakery. While normally the enticing smell would flood the entire hall, she was only being able to feel a faint scent coming from the bakery, a clear indication that the ovens were cold on that day. Without any other place that she was particularly interested in the mall, Ylva would be satisfied with going to the Ember Grove Diner. It wasn't anything new for her but she simply loved the pulled pork sandwich they made there, especially after squeezing some lemon on it. Getting her cellphone from her pocket, Ylva put on a pair of earphones before putting on Flying Whales from Gojira to play as she carelessly began making her way to the Ember Grove Diner.

Thankfully, the diner was open, which saved Ylva from having to go to the market only to buy her breakfast. Since she had forgotten to go to there that week to buy food, there was almost nothing left at home for her to eat and if she did go to the market, she wouldn't have any excuses to not go shopping and would probably have to spend her entire morning at the market. Entering the diner, Ylva went to the counter and sat down in one of the chairs, taking one of her earphones off she called for someone to get her order by raising her hand.

"Hey! So, the usual again?" the attendant asked as he approached Ylva, greeting her with a smile and waving his hand.

"Hei! Ja, a pulled pork sandwich, please." she said with a chuckle as she nodded to the man.

That specific attendant, who already saw Ylva going to the diner a few times before and had already served her a few times, simply nodded to her with a small wink and a smile, indicating that he already knew exactly the way she liked her sandwich before he went inside to prepare it.

It didn't take long until she started feeling the smell of the pulled pork getting ready, making her mouth water in anticipation. While it might not be anything fancy or expensive, the pulled pork sandwich from that place was just incredible and the diner quickly became one of her favorite places to eat in the town after she arrived. They were pretty generous with the fillings and had no problems in making an extra large portion for her to eat for just a bit more.

"Takk!" Ylva thanked as the man arrived with her order, putting a dish with a sandwich that almost seemed to be too big for the plate and a lemon cut in half besides it.

The first few times she went to the diner, the people working there were a bit surprised by how much she was able to eat, but now they had gotten used to it, going as far as even making her portions a bit bigger than they normally would. Squeezing half of the lemon inside the sandwich before closing it, Ylva took a big bite out of it, appreciating it's taste as she ate.

Myra couldn't be happier when she saw Mathis calling the person who served food to the table and ordered more food. According to him, the food would arrive soon. Despite all that though, Mathis still seemed to be feeling a bit bad for offering her wine. Myra looked at him a bit confused, she had already forgiven him and it was already explained that everything was but a simple misunderstanding, so he shouldn't be feeling bad anymore. Besides, the dizziness was starting to pass. Myra looked at Mathis with a smile again, indicating that it was everything okay before she turned her attention towards searching the waiter that was bringing her meat to the table again.

When her meat finally arrived, Myra couldn't help but look at it excitedly, licking her lips as she looked at Mathis and Darius before she started eating the meat. It didn't take much for them to realize how much she loved meat, especially seeing how she ate it so voraciously, taking big bites from the meat with the help of her sharp teeth and her claws. Meanwhile, Darius mentioned that he was going to see Artemis, not before talking with Mathis and saying for him to not give her any more 'wine' though. Myra looked at him and smiled waving goodbye before she went back to eating again. When she finished eating, she would ask if Mathis wanted to meet Artemis. They would probably like each other, Artemis was really kind too, just as Mathis was, after all. Before that, she had to eat though. She wouldn't leave such a good and tasty meat like that. Taking apart a small piece of meat, Myra offered it to Mathis with a smile.

Ayita went away from Darius with heavy and fast steps, going towards the balcony. The small 'discussion' they had brought up a lot of emotions on Ayita. Despite everything Darius said though, it was still clear for Ayita that she was completely correct in her decision, which reflected on the words she said to him and Ayita herself wasn't such a weak woman to doubt herself due to the words of someone who didn't even knew her position. Of someone who never had to fight for his land, for his people in his entire life. Those who had everything given to them would never understand those who had to fight, conquer and protect what was theirs.

Ayita sighed deeply as she felt the cold night breeze coming from the outside. With the noises of the ball muffled in the background and the door closed behind her, Ayita closed her eyes for a moment, letting the wind touch her skin, her hair as she felt it. Since she came to Avalia, she felt more connected to the nature than ever before, particularly the wind. It was almost as if it called her to run with it, to rustle the leaves above her and the grass below. Even when she was standing still, the moment she closed her eyes and focused on the wind, it was almost as if she became one with it, feeling the currents, the things it touched, the leaves and grass. The moment she opened her eye again though, she was brought back to the balcony she was, just outside the ball. The muffled sounds reminding her where she was. Sighing deeply, Ayita took a few minutes more to calm herself down before returning to the ball, to search for Cade and Sakura, to see if they had finished their dances as well.

Even though Darius had said that it was poison, Mathis now spoke that it wasn't exactly like poison, but something that was used to make people happy, making her even more confused. Did he like getting dizzy and feeling weird like that? Did it make him happy despite the bad things that happened? So it was a poison but it wasn't. It made people happy but it had a bad effect too. Despite her confusion though, Mathis was feeling bad by letting her drink it and even apologized so he probably didn't let her drink that 'poison that's not poison' on purpose.

The moment Mathis walked away though, Darius approached her and began explaining about the strange red drink to her. It was probably because Darius knew her longer than Mathis did, but his explanation did seem easier to follow. According to him, it wasn't dangerous as poison, the bad effect, which is apparently the reason why some people drink it, it making the one who drinks it feeling a bit... dizzy and strange, just like she was right now. Again, she had no idea why people liked to drink it exactly because it made them feel bad and weird but knowing that it wasn't dangerous like the poison a snake had made Myra relieved, especially since both Mathis and Darius drank quite a bit of it.

As Darius continued explaining about food, Myra heard him in silence, paying attention. She knew about the types of food he was talking about. The one that burned her mouth was a small red fruit that grew in bushes. She did eat some berries that indeed made her want to run nonstop too like that small fruit that looked like an eye inside a red fruit and a weirdly shaped root that she sometimes found on the ground. According to his explanation not everyone could eat everything without feeling sick, just like when Zorrah gave Darius raw meat. So maybe, even though the strange red liquid did make Myra feel strange, the effects could be different for Darius and Mathis. Almost as if knowing what she was thinking, Darius proceeded to point to many people in the party, that were drinking the same red liquid which was called 'wine'. Myra looked at the people he was pointing at and they didn't seem to be feeling bad at all, most of them were smiling and laughing. So that 'wine' thing did make people happy, it just didn't work for her, just like how Darius couldn't eat raw meat. Myra turned back to Darius nodding towards him, indicating that she did understand what he was trying to explain.

After Darius finished his explanation, Mathis finally returned, asking if he could help with anything. Even though Darius and Mathis himself did explain everything to Myra, including how she would feel better as long as she didn't drink the 'wine' anymore, Mathis still seemed to be a bit nervous and sad for letting her drink it. Turning her head towards Mathis, Myra gave him a small smile, trying to cheer him up. She did understand that he didn't let her drink it on purpose so he shouldn't feel that bad. When Darius mentioned meat though, Myra's eyes immediately turned to him as she stuck her tongue out of her mouth, licking her lips in an agile and quick movement as she nodded affirmatively to him.

"Ffoo! Meet foo!" she tried to say, still slurring a bit due to the wine as she sat down on the table again, looking from Darius to Mathis. Even though she had eaten almost all the pasta, leaving only a little bit on the plate, it seemed like she always had room on her stomach for some meat.

Mikhail was in silence as the other continued talking or doing their own business. Even though he was looking at Dareen watching, his eyes were distant, absent. The idea of returning to Kaeleer wasn't one he was that sure about. Even though Faeril was treating him and it was a fact that he wasn't having nightmares anymore, the lapses of memory he had from time to time were getting much more vivid and real. He knew very well that it was part of the treatment as Faeril's words often came to his mind that his mind needed to be healed first before being erased but he didn't wanted to face those memories. He feared that going back to Kaeleer might trigger those lapses in memory happen more frequently and making him remember things he doesn't wish to have.

Even though Mikhail was distracted with his own problems, he did notice the messenger that came looking for Fatima. Since Fatima was currently talking with Jandar, the messenger choose to not interrupt, simply waiting until someone took the message from him. Although it's contents were a mystery for Mikhail, he didn't really care about it that much, at least at the moment, since he had his mind filled with other worries. By Denvar's reaction to the letter though, it appeared to be something worrying, worthy for Mikhail to inquiry about afterwards.

The initial reason for Ylva to choose the city of Ember Grove as a good place to stay was because it was a relatively small town, surrounded by woods and in a certain manner, reminded her of the small town she used to live in Norway. The woods around the town were perfect for her to let herself truly free for once in a while. Heading further into the woods, hunt could probably be found and since it was a small town, it was unlikely that someone would bother that much with some 'wolves' hunting in the forest. At the same time, it did seem to be a rather cozy place and surprisingly enough, the humans of that town were quite hospitable, showing themselves glad to help a newcomer, even if it was a foreigner. While all those points did make Ember Grove into a good place to stay, one of the main reasons why she choose that town in specific, was a particular smell that she felt in the air as she was walking through the town... A scent that she knew well... There were others, others like her in that city.

With the money she managed to earn by hastily selling and grabbing what remained of her parents' economies, Ylva managed to rent a small but cozy studio apartment in the city and surprisingly enough, it didn't needed much for her to be hired by the local Starbucks despite her lack of experience as being a barista. Being hired so quickly wasn't due to 'luck' though and Ylva knew that well. She probably was hired thanks to her appearance, more specifically her hair and her tattoos which did fit with the overall aesthetic of some of the local clientele. Nonetheless, she was pleased that she at least had means to earn money and wouldn't have to keep digging into the 'emergency funds' she had brought with herself. Another good point of working on the local Starbucks was that they were pretty lax with the working schedule.

Unlike other mornings though, that one was a bit different. The city was silent and had a rather heavy air due to the apparent terrorist attack on an art exhibition the previous day. According to the rumors, it was very brutal. Some people said that hallucinogens were used but it was honestly hard to distinguish the rumors that were actually true from exaggerations. Nonetheless, people were still afraid and the Starbucks owner decided to have it closed that day in solidarity with the victims or those who lost someone in that attack. Being left without anything to do, Ylva was simply walking through the mall looking for a nice place to have breakfast. Preferably somewhere that didn't smell like coffee like the Starbucks did. She was starting to get tired of that smell. Wearing a simple dark jeans and a shirt with the Sacrament of Sin album art from the Powerwolf band. Quite ironic considering what she was but since her appearance by itself wasn't exactly 'discreet' and did drew some attention, she didn't care much about it.
