It seems the long summer, which gouged with fangs and gave us hope, has come to its end...

@Double For a Horus deck, it looks like you're forgoing a lot of its support cards, if those interest you at all. As for a new custom card... Maybe a special card? - Since there's only one custom card per player, a Ritual is out. - Fusion would be a little weird for a deck based around a single monster leveling up. - Synchro would need a tuner, but since lvl 10+ is god territory anyway, maybe a level 10 synchro? I'll come back to this in a moment. - XYZ would need multiple level 8s, which without going through your whole deck list, I don't know how plausible that is. - Pendulum is useless in a deck with only one pendulum monster. - Link maybe? A link 3 or 4 Horus that requires Horus Lvl 8 to be one of its chain links? That's a little more complex to come up with than the other kinds, though.
Maybe something like:
"Horus the Majestic Black Flame" Level 10 Synchro Monster "Majestic Dragon" + 1+ more tuner monsters + "Horus the Black Flame Dragon" Must first be Synchro Summoned. While this card is on the field, your opponent cannot activate Spell cards or their effects without first tributing 1 monster from their hand or field. Once per turn, you may destroy one Spell/Trap card on the field, and if you do, banish it. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the GY, inflict damage to your opponent's LP equal to the ATK of that destroyed monster.
Then it's just throw in Majestic Dragon, and 1+ Tuners such as Rider of the Storm Winds to buff out the possibility of sychroing with lower than level 8 Horus.
I wrote this on 2/10/2024, and I hoped that things would change in the past two days, but they haven't. So here it is:
So, if I'm being honest here, and I am trying to be more open and forthcoming as a person, I have been having a lot of trouble writing for this RP the past two posts, and I keep hitting a wall with this one. It's been 3 days that I've tried to write for it with no success, and I really don't want to slow you guys down by taking a month to write something that's mediocre anyway, so I'm not sure how to proceed.
On the one hand, this is a really fun and interesting RP so far. On the other, I don't know what's happened to my motivation and/or writing ability in regards to this, and I don't know when or if it'll spike back up. So I'm wondering if you two would like to put Hikari and Akane on the backburner, have them be elsewhere IC until I (hopefully) get back to being able to write something decent for this, or if you would want me to bow out of the RP entirely, or whatever other options may exist. I'm really sorry to be doing this, especially so early on in the story, but I don't know how to proceed.
Personality: A chaotic girl who doesn't know the meaning of the words "calm down," Luna tends to be the type to take things too far in every situation. This has manifested in the past in various ways, some of which are: 1. Punching her second-grade "boyfriend" in the neck when "breaking up" with him because he "cheated on her" by hugging another girl. (That girl was his cousin. Luna did not forgive him.) 2. Inventing a tarot system using regular playing cards in order to attempt to divine the answers to a yearly test in fourth-grade that would occur the week after she "figured out" the "magic." (This somehow succeeded and she still occasionally uses the "magic cards" to try to figure out how to handle important things.) 3. Breaking a handheld video game system's screen by headbutting it when in last place in a racing game. (She finished in fourth place.) 4. Winning her sixth grade track-meet because another student made her mad by stealing her water-bottle. (Nobody knows why this was her response to that particular "offense.") 5. And countless other examples.
She's a hardheaded almost-narcissist who loves gambling and picking fights, whether they be literal or figurative, and tends to win those she starts. She's regarded by her schoolmates as either "really cool" (which is only said under duress about half the time) or "a total loser," depending on which group of students you ask. Adults tend to (rightfully) consider her a troublemaker and a slacker, the latter of which titles she wears with pride.
The last thing of note about Luna is that she considers herself a "punk" and tends to listen to music that correlates with that self-given descriptor, usually at a loud volume from headphones that she always wears around her neck but rarely on her ears. Her phone, mp3 player, and headphones are some of her most prized possessions.
Background: Luna has grown up in a middle-class household and rarely wanted for anything. When she did, it was usually because she was in trouble with her parents, which was relatively often, actually. She lived most of her life in a town near Old Domino City, but as of her 15th birthday, she and her younger brother (12 at the time, currently 13) have been living with their aunt and uncle in an urban town just outside the city she grew up in, a fact that she both hates outright and hates to think about.
A week before she began living with her aunt and uncle, her parents were killed by a drunk driver. Their car was totaled, but for unknown reasons their bodies were never found. The police have never publicly released a report on what happened to them, other than that they were presumed dead. After a week of packing for her and her brother, the two moved in with their mother's brother and his wife on Luna's birthday, a day that now only reminds her of her parents.
Recently, her brother has gotten her into Duel Monsters, a card game that he greatly enjoys. To be blunt, the main reason Luna started playing, aside from it being an escape from her life that she could enjoy with her brother, is that her new school has a rather large "underground gambling ring" where the main attraction is playing Duel Monsters for prizes. So far she's used her brother's deck to win a rare structure deck for herself based around the Egyptian Gods from the show. However, she lost a good half of these cards in subsequent duels and has had to try to rebuild it from its damaged state. This has resulted in her current deck being quite different than it began, but with help from her brother who is much more knowledgeable about the game she's managed to craft something relatively usable.
Two days ago, she packed up her portable video games, her phone and mp3 player, her headphones, a few changes of clothes, and some money she stole from her uncle's wallet, and has run away from home for the second time since her parents' death. Her brother was unaware of this, but she left him a note; at least he gets treated decently by their guardians, unlike Luna. The last thing she grabbed was her incomplete Duel Monsters deck, in the hopes that its popularity would mean opportunities to gamble if she needed more cash.

*: The Dark Chapel (Field Spell) This card cannot be destroyed or banished while on the field. While this card is on the field, "The Wicked Avatar," "The Wicked Dreadroot," and "The Wicked Eraser" are also treated as DIVINE Attribute and Divine-Beast Type while in the hand, field, or GY. Once per turn, when this card is activated and again during each of your Standby Phases, choose either the first or second of the following effects; You may use that effect this turn. Your opponent may use the other effect during their turn. 1. You may Banish the top card of your Deck, face-down. If you do so, you may Normal Summon an additional Monster. 2. Once during this turn, you may Banish the bottom two (2) cards of your Deck, face-down. If you do so, you may Special Summon a Monster that requires a single Tribute to Normal Summon.
While her initial plan had failed, her secondary idea seemed to be working. Maybe they'd be able to talk things out after all! That was the thought that died in her mind as the leader of the homeless shouted something about his "pale guards." She didn't have any time, there was three pale-guards attacking Sovereign, and-... And another giving out water. That was either a very bad sign or something that could be overlooked. She had only a second to decide, so she did. A melody was cast.
As she fired the prelude beam of the rain of destruction into the air, Marrie was terrified that she may have made a mistake that would hurt the homeless people around her. She only intended to harm the paleguards, the man with the bare boned arm, and the water bottles that were outside the truck, but she knew that it was likely she'd overlooked something. She desperately wished she could do more, but even this was probably the strongest and most costly melody she'd ever cast.
As she raced towards the back of the group, towards the paleguard there, so too did her mind. With any luck, the three espers would be able to handle the other people relatively peacefully once the ringleader and his dark-souls minions were out. Plus, there was the chance that the water being handed out was the only water that might be dangerous. Of course, it was also possible that by "some of" the leader had meant "most of" as well. Suddenly, Marrie wished she knew how to Purify...

@RickyG85 Right, the link is why I'm asking. In Advanced, there are cards that are flat out banned, but in Traditional, those cards are Limited instead.
But having now read the story excerpt too, I think I've got the gist of it. Though considering how many monsters are giant, that limits a ton of archetypes, and field spells too probably. Still, I'll see what I can come up with and PM you when I have something.
I'd like to run my custom card by you while I still think over this, since it being accepted or rejected will decide what deck I go with if I join. So I'll come up with something and throw it in a hider here or pm, whichever you prefer. (Since you said to pm CSs, after all)
For the record, I haven't read the entirety of the opening info yet, I'm trying to get mechanics info before story info, so sorry if you answered this in the story section, but: is the banlist Advanced or Traditional format? It doesn't really matter for me personally, but it might be useful to know for others or for second decks.
And lastly, are there any story-banned cards? I'm guessing the Egyptian Gods are banned, for example?
I'm saying this here to avoid clogging up the OOC, but I'm going to have to bow out. Sorry. Didn't want to end up ghosting after expressing interest here. I hope the RP goes well, though!
