Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

The enormous hand came crashing down as the monster fell, breaking the earth beneath its impact. Had Fanilly been there, she would surely have been crushed.

Instead, she felt the air rushing past her, as it narrowly missed.

There was no time to take in how narrow that had been. No time to appreciate how devastating the blow was. With her blade gripped in both hands, Fanilly lurched forward, the gleaming tip of her blade aiming squarely for the curse abomination's head as it raised one bloated arm again in a bit to strike once more.

She had to do it. At this close range, she had to make sure she struck. She had to bury the blade as deeply as possible, and make sure the cursed monster died with this blow---!

"Urk..."

If the spear thrust's failure hadn't been enough to crush the man's hope of revenge, then the vise-like grip on his throat was. For a scant few moments, he was still gripping his spear tightly, trying to pull it free... and then his grip loosened.

He let go.

"... F-fine... for my brother's sake, I'll surrender."

The Boars surrounding the vampire paladin seemed hesitant. It was obvious how those who surrendered were treated by the Golden Boar's leadership, but at the same time, it was likely they didn't fancy their chances against such an opponent either.

The attack never came.

Dame Serenity had been left behind, just as swiftly as the knife-wielding Boar had attacked in the first place.

It soon became clear why.

"Ah-hah! You look a little worse for wear, don't you?!"

The poisoned knife gleaming, he lunged towards Sir Sergio by surprise, lashing out with his blade and driving it downwards. He'd clearly taken advantage of the cover provided by the curse abominations in order to launch his attack. With the twisted monsters taking up so much attention, he'd decided to attack an opponent he at least thought would be a weaker one.

In fact, he wasn't the only of the Boars who had the same idea, another man in dark plate advancing swiftly to the thinnest part of the defensive line.

"I'll get a bonus for this!"

However-

"Idiots! Morons! You seriously keep forgetting, don't you? Arbec Grant!"

Clarice pressed the fetch between her hands, firmly.

It bounced back.

The armored man did not, blood exploding from every gap in his armor as his body was practically liquified by the sudden force applied to it, spewing across the grass.

The curse mage's vicious grin had returned.

Even the knife-wielder, in spite of his initial bravado, was unable to avoid the shock of witnessing such a display, despite his attack...

Perhaps this would be the opening Sir Sergio needed, or an opportunity for Dame Serenity to catch up to him.

Sir Fionn's spear found its mark.

With a meaty thunk, it penetrated the monstrous creature's head through one of its ruptured eyes. Its grasping hand faltered, and it let out a groan before it finally completely collapsed with a resounding thud.

The curse abomination was dead, sure enough.

"... Tch, the hounds were bad enough," the Boar with a mace commented as he raised his weaponry, "But even I think something like that has no place in this world, Iron Rose. We're enemies, and I'd hardly have it any other way. But I think you can agree on that."

There was no intention of avoiding the incoming duel, far from it. He had already taken a ready stance, raised his mace. There were no other Boars in the way, no further abominable bloated curse monstrosities.

Perhaps he wished, in some small way, to set himself apart from whoever had ordered the creation and use of the curse abominations.

Great! Working together, they're take this thing down for sure!

But she did have to clear a little bit of room. The oni-pattern warped were already advancing on her again.

But she didn't need that much room.

A sharp kick cracked the nearest oni's outer covering, and the booster on Hoshiko's arm roared to life as she wound up and sent it forward, pulverizing the front of the next nearest warped's skull before skidding backwards and looking up. If Whittemore-san could keep it pinned down---!

The concrete beneath her feet cracked as Hoshiko squared up her stance. Her heart was pounding. She didn't have the mindset to make a lot of calculations about trajectory and arc of ascent and all that. It just wasn't in her nature.

But she was pretty sure that she could pull this off.

She just had to aim right.

Hoshiko took a deep breath, as the heat in her boosters began to grow. In moments, there was a roar behind her as they flared to life, scorching the concrete beneath her and sending small debris tumbling away. An ordinary boost wouldn't cut it, she was going to have to reach the flying warped as fast as possible.

The roar grew louder. She couldn't fly, not really.

But this would be close enough.

The heat erupted beneath her, the world blurred, and she could feel the wind whipping against her face. The concrete beneath her fractured, and the oni-pattern warped that had been trying to reach her were blown away as she hurtled into the sky.

Hoshiko was using herself as a missile to reach the bird-jet warped and hit it as hard as she could.

Okay I think I'm done!
The siren went off around midday.

"Shiro-kun has pinpointed the creation of an Emergence Gate below a shopping center roughly ten minutes from our location. There may already be casualties."

After the fully evacuated construction site, a busy shopping center would be an entirely different experience. While other emergency workers would definitely be on route to assist in the evacuation, in this case it was the Department's duty to get there and wipe out the threat as soon as possible.

"Devil class is confirmed," Shiro had said as they boarded the vehicle, "I will detect any further threats on site."

The shopping center was a large building, its and it was surrounded by people who had presumably been going about their daily routine quite freely until this moment. The evacuation effort had only just begun, but for the most part it seemed as if panic had not spread through the crowd as of yet.

"Oh, I'm so glad you're alright."

"Has anyone seen my daughter?!"

"Do... do you think it's really..."

"Mom, I'm scared...!"

"There's no way, right?"

"I hope everyone's gonna be okay..."

Ayako glanced over the slowly-swelling crowd as the evacuation effort ramped up.

"The fastest way to help them is to eliminate the demon and ensure the Emergence Gate is closed," she said, simply, "So no matter what you hear, focus on your objective. Shiro-kun?"

"Deploying Demon Denial Field," came the Doll's monotone voice.

Soon, the hazy purple-gold sheen had surrounded the entire building.

"Move out, operatives. You've got work to do."

"Ten? That won't even be a challenge. To be honest, you could leave the entire thing to me," commented Fio, running a hand through her lengthy hair as she stepped forward, "Of course simply storming the camp is the right idea, however..."

She had plenty of steam she wanted to blow off from dealing with that cranky old man earlier, and the fact that the bandit force was hardly something to be concerned about made this the perfect avenue.

The air crackled around her, as she drew her blade from it, thrusting it skywards.

"Sura," she began, "Two great phantom blades. Materialize them. Harden their edge."

As the blades emerged from the rippling air around them, their phantasmal edge shone. Magical energy crackled along her sword's edge, through her arms, moving outward from her and gathering along the constructed weapons that came to rest, drifting above her and to each side of her.

"I'll take care of the watchtowers. You can attack with that in mind. I'll simply join you when I'm done," she began, "If any of these idiots surrender, we'll take them prisoner."

If they didn't, they earned exactly what they would get. Bandits didn't get any sympathy from the Sword Witch, not in the least.

The sword gleamed as Fio held it aloft, in a manner similar to the less physical blades drifting on either side of her.

"Strike them down."

She swung the weapon down, and with a whistling sound both the conjured swords were sent hurtling towards the nearest two watchtowers.

Pokemon WIP, but trainer complete unless there's any issues!
"Tch."

Of course it was possession, wasn't it obvious? And now she had the kid in her arms, too...

"No more sneaking around--!"

Raising up her leg, her shoe snapped as her clawed feet reappeared, teeth sharpening once more as Elizstrazia's demon features unfurled from her body, regrown tail waving. Her nails sharpened as the scales on her shoulders and lower arms re-emerged, too, curling horns sprouting from within her white hair as the scales ran from her feet up to her thighs.

Pouring strength into her right leg, she sent it slamming down, the floor fracturing explosively and tossing chunks of tile into the air.

She didn't give a damn what the kid would think of her, her wings stretching from the cutout in the back of her maid outfit and flapping once, to give herself an extra burst of speed.

The thing inside of his mother could absolutely consider keeping him as a hostage, or worse. So that meant that had to be dealt with. Like hell she was going to just let this happen.

Not because she cared about the kid in the least, but because she wasn't about to fail. A scale demon didn't fail, that was that.

The debris tossed up by her stomp would make the best distraction she could muster, as Elizstrazia tore towards the possessed mother and child, aiming to snatch the boy away as quickly as possible.

The air itself seemed to explode, rushing around her as the enormous bloated leg swung towards her. Several of its toes had been absorbed by the cancerous, curse-filled mass of flesh that composed the creature's foot.

Fanilly felt it tear he air beside her, even as she moved, hurling herself to the side. The sheer velocity of the blow, though the monster was otherwise slow, was enough to lift her slightly from the ground and send her skidding across the clearing.

But she hadn't been hit.

Every move one of the cursed abominations made caused more damage to their skin, their flesh, and yet still they moved.

Fanilly's grip tightened as she threw herself forward.

Whoever these creatures had been, killing them was undeniably a mercy.

As the monster recovered from its kick, she aimed squarely for its ankle. She'd sever the tendon, bring the abomination down, and show it mercy.

Her sword flashed---!

The knife-wielding mercenary could hear well enough what had happened to his knives, even over the din of battle. And it wasn't as if the smoke would last forever.

Already, the light was creeping back in, the sky growing slowly more visible.

And so the Boar decided on another tactic.

Another small orb rolled in just as the fog cleared. With a crack, it shattered, releasing a brilliant light and a loud crack not unlike a close-proximity roll of thunder.

No sooner then it had gone off then did the knife-wielding mercenary rush in, aiming to find any joint he could to lodge a poisoned knife into.

"Hah, you won't-"

The mercenary stopped when he realized just what had happened.

The spear-wielder behind the vampire Paladin was quite shocked, as well, when the very end of her swing reached him. The dark-haired, slim, leather-armored man hadn't expected it for a moment.

And so when the blade buried in his side, he let out a gasp, spitting blood.

"... You... you..."

Any semblance of coordinated tactics evaporated.

"Damn you, you little bitch...!"

The first spear-wielder, identical to his partner, rushed out of the other mercenaries, trying to rush Dame Tyaethe and bury his spear into her body as swiftly as he could, aiming for the vampire's heart.

The monster bellowed, already raising its bloated fists in a bid to bring them down on Sir Fionn again.

But it could not, however, react in time to the spear thrust. It buried itself deep into the hulking curse abomination's body, tearing through bloated and corrupted flesh and severing tendons. It was quite likely, indeed, that it reached the beast's intestines.

Aside from a snarl, it seemed to hardly notice the horrific damage done to its body even as black blood dripped down the spear, attempting to grab Sir Fionn in its grotesque hands .

@Theyra: Sure, that would be fine.
After a few moments to get over the shock of their appearance, Fanilly did her best to take mental stock of the approaching, cursed behemoths as fast as she possibly could.

They were unarmed. They did not appear to recognize friend or foe particularly well, given the Golden Boars were swift to clear a path for them. It was with a rather sick feeling she noted their obvious origins. The curse abominations were obviously once human beings, no matter how distorted their forms were now.

Regardless of who they once were, killing them would be a kindness.

The thick muscles would be difficult to pierce, so it was best to go for killing blows as swiftly as possible, by bringing their vital points within reach.

The Knight-Captain took a deep breath.

"Bring them down!" she cried, taking a step forward and raising her blade, "Aim for the ankles, hamstring them and cut them down!"

It was the swiftest way she could think of possibly dealing with them. It appeared as if Sir Renar had already had a similar idea, as well.

"Tch, they... their names are gone, I can't..."

Clarice's frustrated voice came from behind her, but there was no time to dwell on that now. The curse abominations were almost upon them.

Fanilly darted forward, ducking low as moving around the first of the monstrosities as quickly as she could.

One of the Boars was already advancing on her to her right. Damn it, they were trying to take advantage of the fact she couldn't focus on them now-!

His neck snapped before he could get within a meter of her.

"Just because I can't read their names doesn't mean I can't read yours, morons!"

Clarice raised her fetch again.

Within moments, another Boar's head exploded, gore spurting through the air, as she squeezed the straw doll's head.

At the very least, that meant Fanilly could focus on the curse monsters instead!

Haelstadt's headless body strode forward, raising its sword. The massive Zweihander cleaved apart another Golden Boar at the waist, his cheap armor doing nothing against the power and quality of steel.

Perhaps, if they had paid sufficient attention, they would have noticed the Black Knight was focusing on targets in the same direction as their severed head was currently facing.

It was hard to pick up on such details when their ranks were being torn apart, however. Indeed, it was difficult for the Boars to join their fellows, and the Curse Abominations, when Haelstadt was cutting through their formation even after losing their head.

Of the other curse abominations, the one Lein had riddled with arrows stepped back for only a moment, the tips buried in its thick, overdeveloped, near-bursting muscles.

It let out an unearthly bellow and turned to charge towards the hundi archer, the unexpected change of direction taking one Boar off-guard.

The mercenary was crushed underfoot without a chance to cry for help, reduced to a mangled remnant on the grass. The other Boars had done their best to evade the monsters for a reason.

"... Tch. You just had to notice, didn't you," the knife-wielding rogue grimaced as he brandished his poisoned knives, taking a step back. It was clear Dame Serenity was far from an ideal opponent, given how he'd immediately targeted the least-armored of the knights.

But perhaps he wasn't entirely without any tricks up his sleeve.

"Hah!"

A trio of black orbs suddenly left his other hand, erupting into a cloud of smoke with an echoing crack, suddenly obscuring the immediate area. The faint shape of the Boar was just visible, blades catching the dying light as they were thrown again.

The Boar who had driven his spear into Dame Tyaethe's side seemed content to allow his fellows to be slain rather than intervene in their demise, instead retreading by his increasingly-shaken allies.

"Why should I? Just got to keep you occupied for a while, you know?"

Another spear thrust towards the vampire paladin, slipping between two allies who were far too reluctant to do anything on their own.

Strange, however, was the fact that the voice, and the spear, came from entirely opposite sides of the fight as the initial blow had come from...

The curse abomination facing Fionn let out a tremendous bellow, its cheeks tearing and exposing muscle, before it lurched towards the knight, raising both of its fists in a bid to bring them down upon them, tearing up the earth beneath its feet.

The Boar Commander hadn't taken the opportunity to flee, nor could he attack with the monster making its charge. If anything, he actually seemed somewhat aggravated at the presence of the curse behemoth, dark eyes glaring towards the mutated creature.

Perhaps he had actually wanted to fight.
