Sato Hashimoto // Warakuma High, Class 2-2
In response to his voice, Mako slammed his knee into the desk, presumably out of surprise. Sato cringed when he saw the pain on the second year's face. Sato watched the younger teen eagerly as he awaited his response, and what he got was not what he expected, so Mako's laugh came out as a bit jarring."Am I cool with it? Are you? I thought for sure you were gonna have security take me away when I was just standing there like an idiot in your hospital room!" Mako said, getting out of his seat as he continued on. "Yeah, I'm perfectly comfortable putting all that awkward BS behind us. No problem."
"That's great," Sato said, almost under his breath.
"Well, uh... did you want to grab something to eat? I know a few decent places in town. My treat?"
At that suggestion, Sato perked up again. He was about to say yes without a second thought, since it legitimately sounded good, but he immediately recalled two things: archery practice, and Rokurou's text. Would it be... good, to just kinda skip over that? It'd be kinda awkward to shoot down anything Mako was going to suggest immediately after saying that he wanted to reconcile.
"Sure," Sato replied, switching to a more comfortable position with his weight shifted to one hip. "Let's do that."
[. . . . .]
Sato found himself at some restaurant Mako dragged him to. Thankfully, the younger boy didn't try to pull some weird joke and try to take them over to the maid cafe. They were seated by the winow, as per Sato's request, and were waiting for their meals. Despite the friendly setting and the conversation they mustered, Sato's mind was sidetracked. The place they were at was very close to the alley he was kidnapped in. For some reason, there was a vivid memory of this particular restaurant in his head. Thinking about it, he wasn't sure if Mako knew that Sato was a victim of the cult, let alone if he even cared about it all. Well, Mako showed at the hospital. He had to have known, right? Thinking back on it, Sato wanted to say it was Mako who'd asked about the kidnappings before the exams, but he soon recalled that it was that one Toma kid.
Sato sighed, leaning back into his chair. When would their food arrive? He was hardly following the conversation anymore, only reply to whatever Mako was saying with the same amount of thought of when he was showering in the morning. After the whole shadow incident, he'd wanted peaceful days to deal with everything, but since the persona ability came with facing your shadow, it was only natural that he was to be thrust into a much more exciting life soon. Sure, he could've said no to Rui when he asked him to join the team, but if he could use the power he acquired to save others that were kidnapped... how could you say no?
Oh, food's done.
Sato didn't even remember what he ordered. It was some kind of donburi or something. He didn't even care, really. Anything sounded good. It tasted pretty good too, Sato decided as he started eating it. Whatever they were talking about died out once the food arrived, and Sato stared at the steam rising from their table until the silence was almost painful.
"Hey," Sato said, "About those kidnapping... do you know anything about them? As in, have you ever seen anything of the cult around town?"
