Nuallán had been quite kind in helping Mika up and she thanked him before he went on to urge her to be more cautious while also offering her a place under the parasol. ”I appreciate your concern, Nuallán, and I shall try to be more cautious. I do wish to request that you merely call me Mika, though. I may be a princess, but truly that was not my choice. I am no more special than anyone else in this group and I do not wish to be treated differently because of a mere title.” She said with a kind smile to the elven man before stepping out from under the parasol. ”That being said, perhaps someone else would care to take my place in the shade here to get some relief from the sun for a bit?” She went on to ask as her eyes scanned over her companions. Her gaze landed on Jomari.

”Jomari, perhaps you’d like to take my place?” She asked the human man who had seemed to be struggling just as much as she was. She then turned her attention back to Uzul as he went on to explain some of the dangers of the desert at her request. As she listened she moved into step beside Kuroi. Uzul suggested keeping their nose and mouths covered and, as if obeying an order, began adjusting the scarf to cover her nose and mouth. Whatever the man suggested doing Mika would be sure to follow as she was quite unfamiliar with this land.

He then briefly diverted his path to pick up a small scorpion and turned to show it to the group. Mika examined it for a moment, finding it an odd little creature. It was amazing to her that something so small could cause so much damage. The eight legged creature made her skin crawl a little bit and she found herself making note to be much more aware of the sand around them as they walked. She surely didn’t want to step on one of those or any other small creature that would be hard to notice.

Uzul then went on to explain how their journey was to go and Mika was thankful for this as well. It would be good to have everyone on the same page and to be watching out for the same things. One misstep could mean danger for all of them. ”Thank you Uzul, I really do appreciate you doing this. This journey would have been impossible without you.” She said with a small, respectful bow to the orc before continuing on. She was silent for a few moments before glancing over at Kuroi.

”How are you doing?” She asked him, and realized she didn’t specify if she meant with this treacherous journey or just how he was faring in general after their flight from both of their homes. She was putting him in a lot of danger and she briefly wondered if the guilty feeling she felt for doing so would ever subside. ”Thank you for everything you’ve done so far, Kuroi. I’m sure I’m not one of your favorite people right now as I’ve dragged you into numerous things you didn’t ask for, but I want you to know that I truly appreciate you.” She went on to say further.

Mina prefers corseted bodices with a bertha style neckline when at court and in the warmer weather. She often wears skirts that are have bustles and reach the floor. Under those skirts, she almost always wears boots, a habit she finds hard to break coming from the frigid north. If the weather is colder, Mina will wear the same corseted bodice, but the neckline often will be a bit higher and she wears long, fitted sleeves. When it comes to colors, she favors darker colors like deep reds, browns, and greens. Sometimes she’ll step out of her comfort zone and wear a lighter shade of blue or even gray.

Mina seems to have picked up a few personality traits from her uncle, seeming rather reserved and often keeping to herself unless she deems socialization absolutely necessary. Oftentimes you will find her sitting next to a window reading a book or in the study sketching or painting. Despite being fairly quiet, she still holds herself with an air of confidence.

When someone ends up engaging her in conversation they’ll be quick to find that she’s actually rather charming and can even be a little feisty when the situation calls for it. She can even be rather flirtatious at times, though usually it’s only if the person is flirtatious with her first. Having spent years observing people she’s mastered the art of speaking velvety words and saying exactly what you want to hear.

She is incredibly protective of her uncle and if she ever hears someone speaking ill of him she’s quick to jump in and let them learn how sharp her tongue can truly be. History Summary:

Born out of wedlock to Selina Blackwood, the younger sister of Count Sebastian Blackwood, no one knows who Mina’s father is. Despite her mother being shamed and ostracized by society, other than by her brother, Mina’s life still started out pretty easy. Her mother loved her dearly and her uncle made sure that they had a comfortable life. Up until Mina reached the age of four, she had a happy life filled with many imaginary friends. She also loved it when her uncle would come to visit as he’d always bring her little gifts and sweets.

Unfortunately Selina was plagued by many demons and so many believed her mad. There came a day when Sebastian was due for a visit, that little four year old Mina went looking for her mother and found her dangling from the ceiling. Not understanding what was happening, she walked over to her mother trying to speak to her and tugging on her skirts. When she didn’t reply, little Mina decided her mother must be asleep and sat herself down underneath her dangling feet. That’s where Sebastian found her a couple hours later. ”Hi Uncle Bastian, my friend said mommy was hurt and so I wanted to wait till she wakes up to make sure she’s okay.” It wasn’t until she was much older that she understood what had truly happened.

Sebastian took Mina in, adopting her and raising her as his own daughter and heir as he had never married nor did he ever have any children. Mina grew very close to her uncle and viewed him as the father figure she’d never had. He provided everything for her while making sure she was well educated as well as teaching her all the responsibilities of looking over Kolonivka. Sebastian is a rather reserved man and oftentimes seems to be somewhat sickly which has caused for Mina to take over many responsibilities and to act as her uncle's representative when they were at court and he was feeling under the weather.

Did you grow up nurtured or neglected?
Oh I would certainly say I was nurtured, despite everything. My uncle certainly did all he could to care for me and he did a wonderful job with it.

When you were upset, where was your sanctuary?
I found escape within the library of Kolinivka Castle. Whether it was lost within the pages on the numerous books we have or on the canvas as I painted my surroundings and the visions in my head, it helped to quiet those things that haunt me.

What were you like in your teenage years?
Perhaps you should ask my uncle this question, would you like me to see if he is feeling well enough for visitors?

How close are you to your parents?
Well seeing as my mother is no longer among the living and my father is unknown, not as close as some might be with their parents. Now if the question is how close I am to Uncle Bash, there are no secrets between us.

Do you have any trauma that haunts you?
When one witnesses their mother hanging from the rafters of their home and sits there below them for a couple hours I feel it would be hard not to have some trauma, wouldn’t you? So yes, plenty of things haunt me.

What advice would you give your younger self?
Check under the dusty old rug.

Were you an obedient child or defiant?
Again, perhaps we should go visit Uncle Sebastian.

What is your biggest regret?
My, aren’t you a nosey little thing. Are you looking to use this against me?

Have you ever been in love?
Hmm I do enjoy helping others feel like they're in love.

What is most important in a partner to you? Describe your dream partner.
Truly this is a question I’ve given little thought to, I’ve had little time to think of romance. Perhaps ultimately I wish to find someone to help me with my ghosts. Someone to hold me and hide me from the darkness that’s always lurking.

How do you display affection? What is your love language?
I do believe how I truly show affection for others is by helping them or doing things for them. If I can help lessen the burden of someone I care for that is what brings me true joy.

Have you had your first kiss? What was it like?
Again, you are quite nosey. I will answer you this one, however, as it is no secret. Yes, believe it or not but it was with a servant within Kolonivka Castle when I was merely 13 years old. I was more curious on if I could get him to kiss me and it ended up being much easier than I expected. Since then I’ve had many kisses, each one a game for me to see how easy I could convince someone. I wished to find out if all men were easy or if some could prove to be a challenge. Besides, seducing others helps me get things I want.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Why or why not?
I believe love at first sight was something invented to give naive girls unrealistic expectations. It is something that only exists in books and is foolish to think otherwise.

What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage is complicated and too many make it too simple. In the world of nobility we often use it as a business transaction, but I believe that is an insult to what marriage should truly be. Marriage should be something between two people that compliment and complete one another. Only when you’ve found that person that completes you should you marry. My uncle agrees, it is why he never married.

Perhaps.

I don’t wish to change much from my past, I’d rather go back and change something of someone else's past.

Plot Summary

In the world of Eromora there resides many different countries, kingdoms, and cultures, much like our own world. There have been times of war and times of peace, times of devastation, and times of salvation. The lands are rich with history and every country has its own ways of ruling. Currently, the world seems to be in a time of relative peace, especially within the little corner of the world that our story takes place in.

Our focus is with three separate kingdoms and the nobility within these kingdoms. The offspring of these nobles are where our story truly lies as they gather once again as they’ve done their entire lives, though this time there shall be some new faces. Many of them have come of age to start considering marriage. Will romances blossom? Enemies be made? Secrets revealed? How do these future rulers deal with the pressures put upon them? What dark secrets lie within each family? Perhaps some have discovered they aren’t who they thought they were? Have some begun dabbling in magic, something that is forbidden and feared within all three countries? Or perhaps some have discovered a curse placed upon them or their family? What happens if their parents begin arranging marriages without their knowledge? Perhaps there’s some forbidden love happening or something else scandalous? Or maybe there’s something much darker at play? Whatever your story is, this season at court is sure to be an exciting one.

Caesonia Kingdom

To the northeast resides two kingdoms separated by a large river. The southeastern kingdom is Caesonia, a beautiful country full of diverse, yet easily traversable land. The temperature is rather pleasant through the spring and summer months, with soft spring showers that cause summer to be green and beautiful. Fall and winter are on the colder side with some snowfall, but it’s never terribly unbearable.

The capital of Caesonia is a large city named Sorian which is located at the end of a long Fjord. Within Sorian resides King and Queen Danrose, the richest rulers of the three kingdoms. They are also considered to be the most competitive and are most concerned about their appearance to the other kingdoms. It’s for this reason that they organized a gathering of courts every year during the spring and summer months. They invite all of the nobility of their land along with the nobility of their sister kingdom, Varian.

King Edin Danrose is man raised to want to be the best of the best. Nothing short of perfection. This is what he expected of the children as well. He enjoys having not only his but the names of his children being known to all. His personality could be summed up as arrogant and selfish. He views the impoverished as the country’s laziest and is known to be a believer in negative reinforcement and harsh punishment.
He is more than willing to make moves no one else will as long as the wrongs he commits are buried under the bed. Additionally, Edin enjoys the pleasures of life too much, outwardly having mistresses.

Alibeth, despite the regal and charismatic presence she brings to the public, is rather quiet and submissive. She submits to her husband’s desires and lets him steer the ship. Politically, she will try diplomatic measures before violent ones. This goes for how she viewed the children; she will attempt to convince them to agree before deciding on the punishment, as opposed to her husband. She can be rather kind and motherly, sometimes smothering her offspring with overprotectiveness. She is a rather nervous woman who seems to struggle with secrets on her shoulders.




All of the Kingdom knows Duke Lorenzo of Veirmont lost his wife the year prior. He has laid rather low for some time but whispers say he has started to show his face again. Many credit his recovery to the kindness of the Count. The two seemed to have grown close. Emina had been a beautiful, dark-haired duchess who had fallen for Lorenzo long ago despite his middle-class status. Lorenzo had been a fish out of water in the new title of nobility, but it was a river he had long swam in since birth. Lorenzo was never quite cut out for nobility. After having their family publicly shamed by the King himself at a ball, Emina was said to take her life.

Count Calbert, Earl of Montauppe in Caesonia, is a smooth talker. He seems to be able to charm people with ease without them realizing he is collecting information for ammo. Manipulative, cunning, and scheming, this man views life as a game. Always maintaining a cool and collected demeanor, he is highly regarded and respected. People say he is immensely polite and well-mannered. When seen with his wife and daughter, he is loving and handles them like delicate glass. Behind closed doors, he continues this love and care, treating his wife like his treasure. This behavior isn’t always the same towards those he does not regard highly of. Secretly, he gets a rise out of being in control and utilizing the canards he receives to further his goal.

Kind and well-regarded, the soft-spoken Countess Liliane is beloved. She is angelic in her presence, always seeming to say what one wants to hear. Her opinions and beliefs are a mystery to all as she keeps to herself, but she may know more than she lets on.
However, she is a rather fragile woman, always in ill health. Her one and only pregnancy almost killed her.

Varian Kingdom

Varian is located to the northwest of Caesonia and, while still a beautiful land, seems to be a bit harsher. The land is filled with dense forests, rocky mountains, and much cooler weather. In the far northern part of the country, there seems to be a constant dusting of snow, even through the spring and summer months. The capital of Varian is the city of Breoven, located on the western coast of the country. Varian is ruled by Queen and King Camilia, a kind and morally righteous monarch that rules with respect and has earned the love of their people. While they are not entirely fond of the King and Queen of Caesonia, they still attend the gathering of the courts every year in order to keep the peace. This year is shaping up to be quite an interesting gathering, though, as the Alidasht empire across the sea has been invited to join for the first time ever.

Beautiful and confident, Queen Rosa Camilia is a force to be reckoned with. How she retains a youthful beauty even at her age is something that racks the mind of all she meets. She is a very serious woman who will not stand for cruelty of any sort. She is morally righteous and outspoken, not afraid to use her throne for justice. She treats her people with respect and dignity until one hurts an innocent. Then the gentle hand she holds you with will grip you until you burst. Her husband Alix is a kind-hearted King who is often too gentle for his own good. He is better at being an amazing father and husband than being a King who makes hard decisions. He is not very intelligent when it comes to conflict. He tries to be diplomatic as much as possible as he does not have the heart to hurt others.




Alice Smithwood the Duchess of Stravy was always a little too headstrong and bossy for her husband Duke Feralt. Feralt was too similar and wanted to lead and the two bumped heads. The relationship was an unhappy one and despite having an easy life, Alice did not feel as if she had everything she wanted. Feralt went missing suddenly and Alice was thus left alone and unhappy. Until one day, she met a former lady-in-waiting to Queen Rosa named Valerie who was sweet and loved Alice’s ideas and loved her for who she was. She was able to pursue her feelings eventually, to which the Duchess returned. Now, two Duchesses preside over the Varian Kingdom.

Count Sebastian Blackwood, Earl of Kolonivka in Varian Kingdom, is a rather private man, never having been married and never really being seen until the months he’s required at court. Even the people he’s appointed over in the gloomy, cold north rarely ever see him unless he is to settle an issue. While at court he seems to avoid conversing with others as much as possible and seems to only ever attend events that occur in the evening into the night. Because of this, it’s caused many dark rumors to circulate around him, but nothing has ever been confirmed. The only one that may know some of his secrets is his adoptive daughter.

Alidasht Kingdom

In the eyes of Varian and Caesonia, the empire of Alidasht is considered to be quite exotic. Located to the southwest across the sea lies a land full of desert, sand dunes, and jungle. Much warmer and quite a bit dryer in areas, Alidasht is ruled by Sultan Raif Kadir. Unlike the other countries where the eldest is next in the line of succession, Alidasht tradition has the Sultan choose their heir based on who they believe to be the fittest. Due to this tradition, the Sultan usually has many children and it isn’t unusual for these children to compete against each other for their parents' favor. Some have even been known to kill their siblings if they viewed them as too much of a threat. They were invited to this year's court gathering within Caesonia in order for each kingdom to learn more about the exotic land of Alidasht and perhaps form some sort of concrete alliance with them.

Sultan Raif Kadir was once a fierce and mildly feared man, having killed three of his siblings after they had challenged him for the throne when they were younger. Definitely the strongest of the seven siblings, he was never one that mastered the skill of speaking eloquently. That role originally fell on one of his closest confidants, one of his brothers, Hafiz Kadir. It was through Raif’s strength and Hafiz way with words that he won the favor of his father and was granted the Sultanate. Raif had then married a woman who would become an even closer confidant and even seemed to rival Hafiz in charm. The people loved Esrin Kadir and, in turn, began to love Raif even more. She helped her husband settle on ruling a lot gentler than those before him. Unfortunately, Esrin was destined to leave this world behind. After bearing Raif five children, Esrin passed away in childbirth. The loss of his wife and best friend devastated Raif and slowly he became rather cruel once more. The Grand Vizier Hafiz Kadir is a younger brother and close friend to Raif, presiding over the sultan’s council and offering advice to his brother. A rather charming man, he always seems to know the right things to say. While some might view him as manipulative, he always seems to take actions that’ll better the Sultanate and strengthen his brother.

History of Magic

Long ago magic was abundant in the three lands, as anyone was capable of it, but it took lots of schooling, practice, and most importantly it took many components. Magic wasn't something that someone was naturally born with, instead it lived within the natural things of this world. It took finding the right combination of components and the perfect words of the old tongue to cast magic. It became more of a science and many people began recording their findings in tomes. Simple magics, like making a small object levitate and conjuring a small orb of light, took few components and was unlikely to mess up. Larger, more intricate spells, like healing wounds or summoning creatures, took much more work and precision. If one messed up the spell the consequences could be dire. You see, all magic comes with a price. Often the price that's paid is drawn from the components used, forget a component and not use enough, the deficit in price may be drawn from you. If the price is great, one could lose their life or kill someone nearby. So schools were formed to keep people from harming themselves or others.

With such a power available to intelligent creatures it was only a matter of time before some began to abuse it. What was once used to help, now became something to harm. Curses were discovered and used on the enemies of others. Soon many began to fear those who mastered magic. So, in order to protect their people, the kingdoms joined together to eradicate magic. The schools were shut down or burnt down. The tomes holding the different spells were destroyed. Then finally, those that were deemed dangerous were done away with. Some were burnt at a stake, some were beheaded, others were disemboweled. Any who used magic were greatly feared and many retreated to the shadows. Tomes were still around, but they'd become near impossible to find. Eventually magic was rarely heard of.

That was several hundred years ago and, while magic is still very illegal and many still fear magic, the damage done by magic began to be forgotten. Some have begun experimenting with magic again, but they must do so from the shadows for being discovered could spell their death. Tomes are a rarity and must remain hidden. Many who dabble in magic are having to discover things on their own, risking major injury to themselves. Do you dare dabble in that which is forbidden?

Barboda had approached Lizzie and quietly informed her that there were quite a few people below deck, but he didn’t know if they were captives or crew. She briefly wondered how he was able to discern this information, but she supposed that wasn’t important for now. What mattered was getting everyone out of this alive. It was at this moment that the armored man’s last words registered as she realized what he was potentially about to do. Tesoro had been saying something to her, but she missed it entirely as she was turning to Barboda once more. ”Hold o-” She was cut off as Tigerlily was now trying to speak to her, trying to give her some useful information. Lizzie looked between the woman and the bounty hunter for a moment as she processed what had been said.

”Thank you for that, just keep your wits about you for now.” She quickly said to the woman before turning her attention once more to Barboda, opening her mouth to speak to him again. She was too late, however, as the man fired the crossbow bolt right into the female fairy’s face. She stared at the dead woman for a moment before turning back to her murderer.

”For fuck’s sake, Barboda! Next time wait for orders! Best part of ya ran down yer ma’s leg, I swear.” She angrily said to him before beginning to move for cover, ready for all hell to break loose. The sea was becoming more and more agitated as she became angrier. She noticed, then, Helio coming down from the crows nest and throwing some form of magic at the other ship. He seemed annoyed as well, but she was glad he finally decided to join them. Nym had also seemed to move to a cannon and Lizzie found herself deciding to also move towards one while shouting orders. Before that happened, however, shots rang out and an intense burning pain struck her arm. She let out a yell of pain before looking to her left arm and watched as blood began to seep from the wound. This only fueled her anger and her gaze whipped back to the other ship only to notice a large wall of water that had been raised between their ship and the enemy ship.

There was a moment of shock and then she found herself praying that it would collapse over the other ship and not theirs. As if in response to her thoughts, the wall of water turned into a wave that went crashing over the deck of the schooner and Lizzie began to realize that she had caused that to happen, she controlled that wave. She wanted to attempt it again, but she knew she needed to give orders first. ”If any of ya have a ranged attack, give them hell! Tigerlily, stay aboard the ship unless some go overboard. Drown the bastards if they do or rescue them if they’re ours!” She finished making her way to one of the cannons, actually thanking Barboda now for making sure they were loaded. She thought about the people below deck once more, but she couldn’t hesitate for long. If they were crew then blowing holes in their ship might be a blessing and if they weren’t? Well Lizzie could only hope they wouldn’t want to lose their cargo. She looked to Nym and nodded at him before yelling ”Fire!” and the loud boom of a cannon filled the air.

Breakfast had gone well, Raven had looked at Annya sheepishly when she’d said she was worried and she apologized, leaving it at that for the time being. The group had grown quite a bit from what it was yesterday, but Raven was welcoming to it as each new member seemed friendly enough. Now they had all decided to go down to the beach, some deciding to go kill slime while others decided to relax. While Raven knew she should probably practice fighting, she wasn’t entirely sure if she was ready to jump back into a fighting scenario so she chose to go with the group that was to relax on the beach. She was a little glad Eris had joined them as well, finding that she was growing quite fond of the kind-hearted woman. Eris had even asked if anyone was in need of a swimsuit and offered to purchase one for them. Raven had taken her up on the offer as she wasn’t about to enjoy the beach without spending some time in the water.

Eris had taken whoever wished for a swimsuit to a shop she’d known of that sold them for a decent price. It had also appeared like the woman knew the owner of the shop, exchanging friendly words and even a hug as if they were old friends. After changing into the new swimsuits they proceeded back down to the beach where they now sat watching the others battle the slimes. Eris lounged there, soaking in the rays of the sun happily while Raven sat cross legged on the blanket, staring out at the ocean seeming lost in thought. Someone handing her something pulled her out of her thoughts and she looked down at the pretty little shell before looking over to the winter fairy named Rue. ”Oh! Thank you.” She said as she gave the girl a kind smile, finding her quite adorable.

Eris also smiled at the young fairy girl as she was handed the shell. ”Thank you, darling. You have quite the eye for finding pretty little things. Perhaps we can make some of these shells into necklaces later.” She said sweetly to the girl before glancing back over to the ones fighting, specifically Kaleb as she briefly noticed him glancing back their way. She gave him a smile, unsure if he could even see it, and then nodded at him encouragingly. She then looked back over to Annya, deciding it may be time to speak with the woman.

”So, your Highness, may I ask what your plans are after this? And please, do not feel like you have to give great detail, if any at all, I just merely wish to know what I may be getting myself into as I’ve grown quite fond of Kaleb and I wish to stick with him. If you’ll have me, that is.”

After introductions were made, Mika and Uzul had taken their seats and discussion ensued. She’d allowed Uzul to ask any further questions of her, answering them as honestly as possible. They then made plans to travel through the desert, a journey that was likely to be more challenging than they likely would realize. They decided to leave the humans behind in Myriamor with Aurora and, after properly meeting Leaf and Mika realizing he was an eager and sweet young man, decided he’d likely be helpful in watching over the humans. It could serve as his trial before officially being hired on into Mika’s group. While Mika was slightly nervous to leave the humans with the stranger and she was sure Rosaria was even moreso, she was rather confident that Leaf meant them no harm. So the plan was set, however the human Jomari wasn’t willing to be left behind. He would join them on their journey into the vicious desert.

Mika went back to the inn to find Kuroi and explain all that had transpired before going to rent two camels. The camels weren’t meant to be ridden, no the group would have to endure traversing the desert and dunes on foot, but they would carry all the supplies they’d need for travel. Mika then went on to purchase three tents, six shemagh scarves, a variety of dried fruits and meats, and plenty of water. The camels were then loaded up with the supplies and the group of six began their journey into the desert.

The sun was almost at its highest point in the sky and the heat was slowly becoming more and more suffocating. A light breeze blew across the dunes, but it did little to cool any of them off. It was more like being occasionally hit in the face with the hot air of an oven. When it came to walking through the dunes they kept themselves at the top of them as much as possible in order to keep track of the direction they were going. As they got further and further from Myriamor it became increasingly clear how you could easily become lost within the ever changing mounds of sand. Mika was convinced that the dunes were even changing shape slowly before all of their eyes. She was becoming quite glad she’d come across Uzul who seemed to be able to read the dunes expertly. It also proved difficult to walk across, the sand shifting unpredictably under their feet. One misstep and you could go sliding down the face of a dune. This was something Mika had become personally familiar with.

They hadn’t made it even a half hour into their travels and Mika had found herself slipping and sliding down the first third of a smaller dune. She’d managed to stop herself from sliding all the way to the bottom, but not without becoming completely covered in sand. It took her a good minute to find her footing and stand back up, then she had to make the difficult trek back up to the group without falling again. After that incident she’d had a couple close calls, but slowly she was getting the hang of understanding the best places to step.

As they all seemed to fall into a rhythm, Mika decided to ask Uzul a few questions. ”So we’ve discovered the deceptiveness of the dunes and the fact that the sand is out to betray you, but what other things could we potentially come across out here? What should we all keep an eye out for?” She asked as she worked on wrapping her scarf over her head and around her neck in an attempt to lessen the brutality of the sun.
