Name: Eliza 'Liz' or 'Lizzie' Age: 20 Gender: Female National Origin: Baile Mór
Personality:
Cheerful, easygoing and quite energetic, Eliza, or 'Liz/Lizzie' how she prefers to be called, is quite a refreshing person to have around. Despite her strong opinions, she is still a pleasant company. Often enjoying conversation and meeting other people. She greatly values trust and friendship, more so than money or material possessions and is quite loyal to those she considers as friends.
Despite all that, Eliza also can, sometimes, have quite a fiery temper. She is not the type of girl who would back from a fight or stay quiet if someone offends her. She's not your defenseless little girl and has no problems in getting her hands dirty if needed. That said, even if she gets mad with one of her friends, she is quick to forgive, as long as it wasn't anything serious like betraying her trust.
Biography:
Eliza spent most of her childhood in the suburbs of Baile Mór, in the island of Iona. When one has no roof over their heads, life is already hard but when supplies, food and most other things aren't as abundant as they were before, it gets much worse... The apocalypse had an... interesting effect on most people. Even though human instincts tells them to gather and make groups in order to survive, most people seem to have forgotten what kindness and compassion is. Focusing only on their sole survival, there were few the good souls that found enough kindness in themselves to help orphans and share what little they had. Being shunned and even chased by some, Eliza quickly learned that she had to do anything she could to survive. Trusting others was a dangerous thing to an orphan, especially when no one cared about her survival and if she didn't know how to defend herself, she was as good as dead. Every day for her was quite literally, a fight for her life... That is until she met Charles, a middle aged mechanic that had a small workshop on a part of the city that was a bit less poor than the suburbs where Eliza lived.
At first, Eliza and Charles' meeting was simply due to curiosity. After finding Charles' workshop by luck, she saw him working on a big block of metal which she soon recognized as the engine of a huge airship. Amazed by both the complexity of it's insides and how such a huge, heavy thing was responsible for making the airships fly, she simply stood outside, hiding herself behind a few wooden boxes while she watched Charles working, afraid he would beat or chase her if he saw her. Without anything better to do, Eliza began to return to that same place to watch Charles work day after day, always hiding and never showing herself. Until the day she found a sandwich neatly wrapped on top of the boxes she often hid behind, that is. Eliza didn't think twice as her stomach was often empty and ate the sandwich in mere seconds. It was then that she saw Charles looking at her from inside the workshop, laughing at how voraciously such a small girl ate the sandwich. When their eyes met, he waved at her, asking her to get closer to the engine she always liked to watch him work on. When he turned it on for the first time since he started fixing it, it made a loud noise as the previously broken engine came to life, making Eliza jump back in fear, which in result made him laugh as he turned it off again.
Soon, Eliza and Charles' relationship, which started without a single word being said by both of them, grew enough that Eliza began to live in Charles' workshop, together with him. Neither one of them remembers how or when Eliza began helping Charles with his job as a mechanic nor how she became so good at it, but her admiration for Charles coupled with her interest in his job certainly were one of the reasons why she was so quick to learn. Maybe it was luck or maybe Charles saw something on the poor, dirty orphan Eliza was, but he ended up unofficially adopting her. As she grew older, Eliza not only became a beautiful girl, but her talent for being a mechanic became quite clear as she quickly became as good as Charles himself, quickly making the title 'apprentice' inaccurate to describe her. With Charles raising Eliza as his own daughter, the two grew incredibly close over the years and Eliza helped him in his workshop until she became old enough to start her own life.
On Eliza's 18th birthday, Charles gave her a small, portable set of tools, the same ones that were quite expensive, used by the mechanics on wealthier parts of the city, together with a box, filled with a decent amount of money he had saved over the years. Telling her she shouldn't waste her life on such a small workshop, Charles told Eliza that she should take those gifts and go where her heart wanted, live her own life. After a long hug and a heartfelt farewell, Eliza promised to return to visit him before boarding an Airship and leaving.
Equipment Weapons
Mercureal Pistol - Modeled after a vintage model, it packs a considerable punch, even for a Mercureal weapon. No special attributes other than it's appearance and it's stopping power. Injection Knife - On the outside it looks like a standard combat knife, but it has a small mechanism that uses a cylinder of compressed air that when a certain button, hidden on the knife's hilt is pressed, liberates the pressurized air, expanding inside the wound and causing great damage. It is still an incredibly sharp, reliable and resistant knife though.
Armor
Heavily modified scout steam armor - Having removed everything other than the boots, it was made to be as light and efficient as possible by Liz herself. It is quite simple compared to a normal scout model steam armor, having only a belt to hold the small steam cells and the necessary mechanisms, connected to the boots and the steam jets themselves. It offers absolutely no protection or armor other than the boots but it is is more efficient than the normal models due to the lower weight (also because Eliza herself modified them) and doesn't hinder the user's mobility in any way while the jets are not active. It is a bit more complicated to use than normal scout models due to the lack of stabilizing jets, but when mastered, offers much more mobility.
Accessories
Mechanic's tools Most of the times, other than ammunition, spare mercureal cells, compressed air cylinders and her weapons, Liz often carries a small pouch of tools on her belt. Reasonably portable, they are perfect for any type of repair she may need to do.

Nanna stands at 1.98m, has blonde, almost silver, long hair she uses tied, adorned with a couple of wooden carved hair beads, and a pair of bone carved earrings, with a spiral pattern on them. She has a very strong body with defined muscles, yet It os still slender and feminine. The body of a battle tried skjaldmær. Her grey eyes are famed for their enigmatic and piercing stare. If one looked at her they would say she is just a beautiful woman, only uf wasnt for the imposing aura she emanated, the full leather and fur armor she wore or the long spear that were always with her. Her curse takes form of the Helreið Brynhildar poem from the Poetic Edda. Each time she uses her powers, a part of the poem begins glowing, with a fiery red, like it os on fire.
Munu við ofstríð alls til lengi konur ok karlar kvikvir fæðask; við skulum okkrum aldri slíta Sigurðr saman. Sökkstu, gýgjar kyn.
Ever with grief and all too long Are men and women born in the world; But yet we shall live our lives together, Sigurth and I. Sink down, Giantess!
Additionally, inside her heart, there is a small, blood red crystal fragment. It pulsates together with her heart, almost like it is a living thing.
Nanna usually wears a full leather armor. She always said that dresses are unpractical and would hinder her in combat. Her armor Is currently in tatters. The lower part of her armor and the fur pants she wear underneath it are the only parts that are relatively unscathed. the upper torso of it is completely destroyed. She is currently using bandages to cover her upper torso.

Nanna is a very brave woman, exactly how her name says. In battle, she is fearless, concentrated, believes that one should never fear death in battle, as it is the right and most honorable way to die. Her allies see in her an inspiration, as the brightest and biggest presence on the battlefield. Her foes' spirits falter at the sight of her imposing figure and aura. Normally Nanna is very serious when dealing with strangers or when issuing orders, due to her position as shieldmaiden and the champion of her clan. If you're a stranger, chances are that you will never see her smiling, but when she is with friends or her soldiers, drinking and commemorating after a successful battle, she is very kind, cheerful and sweet (especially when she gets drunk after drinking far too many horns of mead). The ones who saw her smile say that is bright as the sun, heating the heart of even a veteran soldier. Many men already tried to have her for their own, but Nanna, the Walküre, is not just a regular woman, and her heart is a battlefield that has already seen many battles.
[ ⍚ ] B I O G R A P H Y
Nanna was born in the cold mountains of north, where the frozen winds blow all year long, a place where only the strong survive. Since she was a child she had an unusual attraction to spears. Even as baby, she always was trying to get to her father's spear to play with it. A she grew up, she began showing an incredible prowess in fighting with one, going as far as being declared champion of her clan with only 15 years old.
As Nanna grew older, she turned into an exemplar skjaldmær. Every battle she participated she brought victory to her clan. Fearless in battle, her eyes pierced her enemies, only her presence was enough to change the battle. The tales of a skjaldmær whose spear never misses her target began to spread in the north clans. With her fame spreading, she got the title of "The Walküre", as a skjaldmær who had the spirit of a true warrior.
Using a very unique style of fighting, It was frightening yet beautiful to watch. Fierce, strong and graceful, she used her spear and shield like extensions of her body, using her entire body together with it. Powerful shield bash to disorientate and break her opponent's guard, fierce strikes with the shield's rim to knock them down, powerful thrusts that carried all her weight, strength, spirit and experience, beautiful circular motions to cut her opponent's down, wide sweeps to make them fall, using even the shaft of the spear to fight. No one had ever seen a warrior like her. Naturally, she was offered the seat of Jarl on her tribe, but she declined, she didn't felt worthy of leading the clan. Her place was in the battlefield, she felt a connection to that place. It was a holy place. Somewhere were kings and slaves were equals, the true location where one could show how much he worth. His bravery, his valor and his honour.
When she turned 20 though, the clan began changing... The previous Jarl had died, and his son wasn't meant to rule. He didn't respected the gods or the holiness of the battlefield. The unspoken laws of war, the ones who every single warrior who had even an ounce of honor was bound to follow, even those he broke when he cowardly murdered the enemy chief after inviting him to a dinner, in a blatant lie to sign a truce. No good could come of that. Disrespecting the ancient traditions wasn't something that the gods would be happy to see.
Nanna and her most trusted soldiers went to the Jarl to declare their secession from the clan, but the corrupt Jarl wouldn't let them, and in a coward move, he gave the order to kill Nanna and her trusty warriors. A thousand arrows began to fly on their direction. Hopelessly, Nanna watched as her warriors charged, fearlessly to the certain death, protecting her and falling one after another.
Seeing that affront to the honor and the gods, something snapped inside Nanna... With a roar, she charged her old clan, ahead of her warriors. In a beautiful and deadly dance, her spear danced with a hissing sound, her body followed the dance. A silver streak dancing in the middle of the battle, her spear slew enemies without distinction.
As he saw the Jarl, she ran towards him. Spear in hand, with circular motions she charged. The silver blade cutting the throat of her enemies, her blonde hair sprinkled with blood, her body full of cuts and arrows piercing it, ignoring the pain she kept running, leaving a trail of bodies behind, in her incontrollable rage. As she got near the Jarl, so close she could see the white of his eyes, her spear followed her, piercing his neck. Looking to his eyes, she watched as he hopelessly grasped the spear shaft, his blood flowing through it as he tried to breathe. Twisting the spear with a sound of bones breaking and tearing flesh, she ended his life.
Nanna knelt on the ground, wounded and exhausted. Behind her a trail of dead bodies laid, as her allies looked at her, without words. Without strenght to get up, she dropped her spear, falling on the ground, unconscious.
Slowly approaching her, her warriors made an oath to themselves, they would follow her till the end. The one who never fled from battle, her allies are stronger with her, and her enemies tremble with her mighty roar. A woman who was born to battle. A true Walküre.
After spending a long time recovering, she went to the only place where she could: the clan gathering. There she would meet the Wolfrahg. The other clan that lived not too far from her old clan, and she could formally announce the Wulfing tribe's extinction. Maybe she could enter their ranks. They were a honorable tribe, unlike what the Wulfing became. Maybe she would start her own tribe...
With her mind full of doubts, she and her warriors began the lengthy journey to the gathering. She didn't knew what she would find there, neither how the other clans would react to the news of the Wulfing's extinction.

Brynhildr stands at over 2,00m. Wearing a full set of armor. Her presence on a battlefield can be a blessing or a curse, as she is known to partake in those battles, to test who is worthy and who is not. A beautiful golden hair can be seen under her horned helmet, blowing with the wind.

From the second humans were born, there was war. Some say that Brynhildr firstly appeared when humans had their first discussion. Teaching them the right and honorable ways both of war and peace, telling the young human race that the battlefield was a sacred ground and should not be used to dishonorable fights. As the human race grew both in numbers and in age, Brynhildr kept doing her work. Battle over battle, Brynhildr was present. Every great battle of history she was there. Be as a goddess watching the battle and taking the worthy souls to the afterlife or possessing a mortal, amidst the bloodshed, with a smile on her face.
She was loved the war with all her heart. It was a place were one could show his true worth, defying even fate itself. On the battlefield, everything was possible and for a long time, it was the only love of her life. But one day, this changed. A certain warrior captured her heart. His bravery, his honor, he didn't had a reason to go to war. He wasn't there for fame, fortune or power. He simply loved the battlefield as much as she did. She began to fight by his side, always together with him. Every battle he was present, she was there, fighting by his side. Like that, she fell in love with him. A love that needed no words, she knew him solely by sharing the battlefield with him. She saw that beautiful soul live and die many times. Each death was a glorious one, on the battlefield surrounded with his friends and foes.
Seeing that beautiful relationship between Brynhildr and that soul, a relationship so pure it didn't needed words, the dark gods got envious. If they couldn't have that, no one could. Then they began plotting against Brynhildr.
Disguised as a shieldmaiden, she was again in the battlefield besides her loved one, when a black arrow coming from the sky pierced her heart. She had already died in her mortal disguise before, but that was different, her divine essence was also struck with the arrow. Losing all her memories, she was reborn as Nanna.

Appearance With fiery red hair, hazel eyes coupled with a delicate skin and a cute and pretty face, Nina can be considered quite an eye candy with a 'wild' and 'fiery' charm. Standing at 5'9" (a few inches higher than what she would normally have due to her bio-cybernetic legs), she has a well trained body with perfect proportions. Despite her good looks, the most striking aspect of her appearance is maybe her bio-cybernetic legs. Made by Nina herself, the uniqueness in their appearance betray the uniqueness in their function and design. When off duty, she often removes the armor plating in her legs, allowing her to even use tight fit pants to cover them (even though she still cannot wear normal shoes).
Normally wearing lightweight armor while on duty, when off duty she prefers wearing light clothes that let her move freely. She is known to hate excessively 'formal' clothes but it is not uncommon to see her using summer dresses when going out or when she wants to wear something a bit prettier or, more commonly wearing things like shorts and other light, casual clothes. Even though Nina might prefer light and comfortable clothes to beautiful ones, she still cares about her appearance, mainly keeping her body in perfect shape, training and doing things like taking care of her skin & etc.
Height 5'9"
Personality Normally, Nina is a very happy girl. Always seen with a smile on her face, she loves company (sometimes even having a tendency of speaking a bit too much), has a tendency to always see the good side of everything. Just like her hair though, she has quite the fiery temperament. With strong opinions, she isn't the type of woman who would go back on her own words or flee from an argument. Luckily, she isn't the type of person to hold grudges and is as quick to forgive as she is to anger. Even though it is considerably hard for her to completely lose her temper, when she does, she becomes notably hard to handle.
Curious and easygoing, it's not particularly hard to approach her, if she doesn't approach you first, that is. Despite her clear interest in weapons, cyberware and bioware, as long as one approach her with a sufficiently interesting subject, it is not that hard to keep her interested on the conversation.
Even though Nina's personality doesn't change that much on most cases while she is on stand-by on duty, when she finds herself in a situation that requires her full attention, she is much more serious and professional. Often keeping communication to a minimum when in combat, she always tried to be as efficient as possible in everything she does. Strangely enough, despite her highly inquisitive and curious nature, she doesn't question orders that often when in combat. Maybe a reflection of her training when she was part of the UK special forces.
Role Recon/Scout
Despite her role being officially a Recon unit, in reality, Nina is quite flexible due to her equipment and skills. Excelling in mobility due to her legs, she can fill specific roles in situations where speed and precision is needed above anything else, in situations where one would need a more 'silent' approach such as reconnaissance or scouting or even taking a more 'supportive' role in an operation, akin to a highly mobile designated marksman unit while also helping in gathering valuable information about the area for the main team.
Augments:
Cybernetic heart and lungs: Due to the accident she suffered, her lungs and heart were punctured by metal shrapnel, making her lungs almost useless and her heart working only with a fraction of its original capacity. While the previous models were aftermarket ones, she found their performance unsatisfying and lackluster, ending up creating new ones with a better performance than most models on the market. Due to those augments, Nina has a much higher stamina and lung capacity than normal people, which made her not only able to run by a surprising amount of time without getting tired but also made her able to handle the strenuous effort needed to push her bio-cybernetic legs to it's limits.
Bio-cybernetic legs: In the same accident that ruined Nina's heart and lungs, her original legs were ruined beyond repair. With most of her tendons severed and most of her bones, including her femur, broken and fractured in multiple places, complete healing was considered impossible, even with the current technology. The current legs Nina use were the result of her frustration and persistence after the accident and finding herself not being able to even stand up. Due to their ingenious and unique design, they are essentially part of Nina's own body, since her own nervous system is connected to her artificial legs, their removal is impossible without an incredibly complicated surgery. The drawback of having such an unique system and design is that repairing them is considerably more complicated. Nina is the only one that knows how they work since the pieces are almost all custom made. They allow the user to run at much faster speeds than they normally could.
Equipment:
Semi-Automatic, scoped Crossbow: Semi auto, magazine fed crossbow modified by Nina herself. Even though this was once a standard model, it was modified and tinkered by Nina so many times that almost nothing of the original weapon remained. It is a mystery on how the NSF still considers this weapon 'standard' and lets her use it. The custom made parts and the exotic design makes it easy to wield and move around with. Silent, accurate and deadly, it boasts an unusually long range for a crossbow, as much as a DMR. It's penetration power is enough to rival common DMRs, despite it being completely silent. In return, it's ammo is limited.
Featuring an ergonomic design, an easy access place to store spare magazines while economizing space, this SMG is at the same time compact and incredibly effective. Due to it's compact size and special features, it makes an ideal sidearm for Nina, since she has little space to carry equipment or additional ammo other than the spare magazines for her crossbow. She often uses it with a silencer, carrying at least one magazine with only subsonic ammo in case she needs to be silent.
Standard issue NSF combat knife.
Previous Careers
Bio/Cyberware field specialist on the UK special forces.
Unemployed. Responsible for buying a suspicious amount of highly advanced cybernetic components and raw materials on Tokyo's black market. Due to this period of time, she has a few scarce connections in the black market. Far from trustworthy, but these contacts respect money.
Biography Born in a relatively wealthy family, Nina was always an incredibly intelligent girl. Despite her wealthy family, her father, who was a retired officer from the UK Military was always rather distant. Still, he still provided her with the best education he could and raised her. Even though he was never the type of person to give her hugs and affection, she knew he cared about her. Enough to always tell her stories about his old days in the military or even to awkwardly try and start a conversation with her when she was too quiet or feeling down for any reason. All in all, Nina had a very good childhood, one that few people had the opportunity to have.
Growing in an environment filled with veterans, her father being one of them, it wasn't a surprise when Nina showed an interest in both weapons and bioware and cyberware fields. Many of the veterans she met had at least a few augmentations, from minor ones like cybernetic eyes to even entire limbs. Choosing to specialize herself in the Bio/Cyberware area, Nina quickly made a name for herself, being seen as a student with a promising future. That and, in a minor way, for being one of the best in gymnastics and track & field, going as far as winning some medium competitions. When she graduated herself, both her background as the daughter of a retired military officer and her thesis, which was an innovative view on cybernetic augmentations, including a fairly accurate system of a cybernetic limb that emulated the human nervous system, attracted quite a bit of attention, including from the United Kingdom Special Forces, who gave her a proposal to work for them as their specialist. Even though her father never said anything, Nina always knew that he was the one responsible for pulling a few strings in the background and speaking with a few people in order for her to receive such a good proposal.
The first years on the UKSF were harsh and difficult for Nina. Even though she was used in training her body and loved physical activities, the training she underwent was incredibly harsh. With time though, she got used to the routine and adapted to it surprisingly well. At first, while she was still in her 'training period' she mostly stood inside the HQ either offering support for those who had augmentations, researching on how to further improve the performance of the combat-oriented augmentations used by the Special Forces agents or even, some times, analyzing rogue or illegal augmentations that were apprehended from different sources. Due to her performance, her physical capabilities and the fact that she often tinkered with other agent's equipment and weapons upon request, raising their performance, she was quickly offered a position as a field specialist. Her presence on field would offer not only a tactical advantage when dealing with situations where knowledge about cybernetics was required and even being a surprisingly good designated marksman, but she also had a good effect on the team's morale due to her personality when off-duty, being quite a welcome to relief the psychological burden.
Unfortunately, in one occasion where Nina was together with the her unit in order to apprehend a cargo of highly illegal cybernetic parts after one of their informants told them where the supposed deal was going to take part, an unfortunate accident happened. The moment her unit approached the vehicle that was supposedly transporting such parts, she almost immediately went to the back of the vehicle to take a look at the supposed cargo after the driver was captured. What nobody could have foreseen was that, whoever was behind that particular cargo, was more prepared than they had thought. The cargo was armed with an explosive charge that would go off if whoever opened the cargo compartment didn't have a special identification device.
As the explosion went off, Nina's unit was mostly intact, but she didn't have the same luck. Deep wounds caused from metal shrapnel pierced both her lungs and heart in multiple places, while her legs became almost completely destroyed, having absorbed most of the impact from the explosion. Due to her unit's quick decision, her life was saved, but when she woke up, months later, things were radically different for her. Her lungs had to be completely replaced by a cybernetic one, which didn't have the same performance as her previous one while her heart, was functioning with only a part of it's original capabilities. She was unable to walk or even stand up and any effort at all would almost make her pass out.
For obvious reasons, Nina was discharged from the UKSF for medical disability. Nina quickly became deeply depressed. For her, being in that state was almost like being in a cage. She wasn't able to even run, exercise herself. She was useless... Using the pension she received from the UKSF and her father's aid, who blamed himself for what happened with Nina, she went to the only place in the world that enough advanced technology and it would be easy enough for her to get a hold of them. Neo-Tokyo. After the nuclear warhead that exploded in the old Tokyo, it wasn't much of a secret that things were like a powder barrel, with ultra-nationalist factions rising in power and fighting against the local government, it would be the best place for Nina to do what she wanted to do.
For the following year, Nina used all her money while hiding herself in Tokyo's suburbs and buying suspiciously high quantities of both highly advanced cybernetic components and raw materials as well as a good amount of medical supplies and bio-cybernetic parts. Having worked for the UKSF, Nina didn't expect that the NSF would ignore such a highly suspicious activity forever, but luckily enough for her, when they finally caught wind of it, most of the modifications she had planned for herself were already completed. After having to run from the NSF in several occasions, afraid for what they would do with her new legs if they caught her, Nina was finally cornered after a surprisingly long game of cat and mouse. Surprisingly enough, instead of being thrown into a cell or having her legs disassembled and studied in hopes of possibly reverse engineer them, the NSF gave her an unexpected proposal. Nina's skills, both regarding bio-cybernetics and her skills to avoid and run from the NSF for so long, coupled with her background did give the NSF enough information and understanding on her circumstances for them to trust her and instead, offered her a position inside the NSF.

Fiery red hair, hazel eyes and a delicately white skin coupled with a cute face, Nina can surely be considered quite an eye candy to look at. Standing at 1,75m, she has an agile and athletic build, carefully maintained thanks to training and running. Despite her good looks, the most striking aspect of her appearance is maybe her bio-cybernetic legs. Made by Nina herself, the uniqueness in their appearance betray the uniqueness in their function and design. When off duty, she often removes the armor plating in her legs, allowing her to even use tight fit pants (as long as they don't go below her shins) to cover them (she still cannot wear normal shoes).
When not using the standard, lightweight armored suit in her upper body and the armor plating on her legs, Nina's wardrobe is mostly consisted of practical, easy to wear clothes such as summer dresses, shorts, shirts and the occasional long dress, which she keeps in case she needs to attend to a formal meeting or something similar.
𝙿𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢:
Nina is a happy girl, despite everything that happened to her. Always with a smile on her face, she loves company and has a tendency to always see the good side of everything. Just like her hair though, she has quite the fiery temperament. With strong opinions, she isn't the type of woman who would go back on her own words or flee from an argument. Despite this fact, she is extremely smart and very rarely looses her temper enough to impair her logical thinking... Although she can and will probably get mad enough to give a serious cold shoulder if someone irritates her. Ironically enough, the best way to extract information from Nina is by being friendly taking advantage of her easygoing personality. Around those whom she considers being her 'friends' she is sometimes careless regarding information that should be confidential.
Backstory:
Born as the youngest daughter of a wealthy family of weapons and high-technology merchants in London, Nina was always an incredibly smart girl. Being gifted with both a healthy and athletic body and smarts, she began making a name for herself in the academic community due to her innovative ideas and the concept of bio-cybernetic augments and members that unlike normal prosthetics, which simply outright replaced a missing member or organ, aimed for a more... seamless transition between machine and human.
Unfortunately, despite the vastly improved performance when compared to conventional prosthetics and augments, her ideas were considered to not be practical enough to be used due to certain complications such as possible rejection symptoms depending on the patient, the expensive, dangerous and invasive surgeries required and most importantly, the knowledge necessary for the maintenance and repair of such augments and prosthetics. It was exactly due to these downsides that Nina's research was not deemed worthy of investors or any further attention from the academic community.
After being shunned by the academic community, she quickly lost the support from her family. Her many siblings all had many accomplishments to further raise the name and prestige of the Hart family while she was but a failed researcher. After much discussion, the elders of the Hart family gave her a choice. She would either be used in a political marriage or she would become a voluntary and to the ranger program the Tammerlane Exploration Company. In exchange, the family would keep supporting Nina, providing her with money and all the necessary technology she would require for her hobbies or even her bio-cybernetic augmentation research.
In the Tammerlane Exploration Company's Ranger program, Nina would quickly stand out from the rest thanks to her incredible dexterity, agility and speed. Her natural agility and dexterity would quickly earn her the eyes and attention from the instructors, who saw in her a diamond in the rough, despite the rather... difficult to dealt with behavior sometimes, when she wasn't allowed to do what she wanted.
Graduating from the Tammerlane Ranger program in the top of her class, Nina immediately started being deployed in missions through the solar system. Be it either scouting potential natural resource sites in one of the many moons or even escorting and protecting high value cargo from pirates and scavengers, Nina's was not only always brought good results, but she had quite the talent to boost the morale of the team with her easygoing behavior...
That was until a certain mission on Venus to bust an illegal mining operation, where she ended up stepping on an anti-personnel mine. Despite the high lethality of those mines, Nina was somehow still alive, although only barely. After being saved by her the other rangers in her team and quickly taken to the best Tamerlane-affiliated hospital in Venus, she discovered, much to her dismay, that the accident had completely ruined her legs beyond repair, severing nerves and breaking her femur in multiple places. Besides that, multiple metal fragments had also penetrated her chest. Amongst them, two became deeply lodged within her heart and lungs, damaging and making them able to work only with a fraction of their previous efficiency. Although she was not in risk of dying anymore, her condition was still... very bad. Walking was simply impossible due to her wounds and any physical effort would quickly cause further complications due to her debilitated heart and lungs.
Despite the terrible accident, Nina still kept her head up instead of falling into despair because she knew that she would have the support from both from her family and the Tammerlane Exploration Company. Both of them had invested just enough time and resources on her to just let her live the rest of her life in a debilitated state. Thanks to that, in a situation where most would have feel desperate, Nina found opportunity. After many meetings with both the elders of the Hart family, she finally convinced them in asking the Tammerlane Exploration Company for a favor. Instead of merely amputating her legs and replacing them for military-grade prosthetics, she would convince them to use an improved version of the prototype from years ago for a special type of bio-cybernetic legs, putting her own name, job and even any right she or her family would have for a compensation from the Tammerlane Company at risk.
While the surgery took almost days to complete due to both the surgeons and the cybernetic engineers having little to no knowledge of how Nina's prototype worked other than the detailed explanation she provided on how the operation had to be performed, in the end, it was successful. Unlike other cybernetic prosthetics which took time for both the body and the brain to get used to and often needed intensive therapy, Nina's prototype only needed about a week of medical supervision and therapy before she could use them to their full capacity.
The moment she started resuming her trainings with her new legs, it immediately became evident that her previous research on bio-cybernetic augmentation was not something to be ignored. Despite the downsides, the difference in performance was incredible, to say the least. Coupled with the military-grade Variable-chambered heart provided by the Hart family, Nina quickly became an incredibly valuable asset to the Tammerlane Company Rangers. Before she could even go back being an active Ranger for the Tammerlane Company, Nina was formally invited to be on the Ranger team of the Jotunheim as one of the best rangers the Tammerlane Company had.
Key Skills: » Ranger Training
The harsh training Nina went through before she graduated as a Ranger taught her how to survive in most harsh places and situations. From Survival techniques both in urban environments and the wilderness to tracking and erasing one's tracks, she can both survive and move without being noticed in most situations.
Regarding combat, while Nina was trained and specialized as a Marksman, she was also trained in hand-to-hand combat and created a style of combat focusing in the usage of her augmented legs, should she need to enter in close combat.
» Enhanced Mobility
Nina's augments only enhanced her already fit and flexible body. After she learned how to use them in their full capacity, Nina is able to move herself much faster and be much more agile than a non-augmented human, including climbing and free-running/parkour techniques.
» Bio-cybernetic specialist
Before Nina became a Ranger, she was a researcher specializing in bio-cybernetic augmentations. Having designed and created the bio-cybernetic legs she uses, knowing very well how to modify or repair them. Her knowledge also allows her to repair normal cybernetic augments, given enough time and assistance from more specialized members of the crew, such as doctors and engineers, when necessary.
𝚆𝚎𝚊𝚙𝚘𝚗(𝚜): » Combat Knife
A normal, military type combat knife. Sharp, durable and reliable.
» Custom made Crossbow
Semi auto, magazine fed crossbow built by Nina's request. The custom made parts and the unique design makes it easy to wield and move around with. Silent, accurate and deadly, it boasts an surprisingly long range for a crossbow, being possible to use it even in medium to long range shots without too much loss of penetrating power due to the elongated barrel and improved firing mechanism. All in all, it resembles a strange hybrid between a rifle and a crossbow, albeit with much less ammo capacity.
𝙰𝚛𝚖𝚘𝚛:
» Lightweight armor. Aiming to offer a good protection without weighting down the user.
Augments:
Military-grade Variable-Chambered Heart and Lungs
Bio-cybernetic legs (Made/modified by herself)
» Augment Explanation
Focusing more in speed and agility than brute strength, the main point of her bodily modifications is to further enhance what she was so proud of before suffering the accident that ruined her legs: her agility, dexterity, stamina and speed.
While her legs have a much better performance than normal cybernetic prosthetics due to their bio-tech design, they are significantly harder to repair than normal cybernetic legs due to how complicated their construction is, requiring something akin to an 'operation' (unfortunately, Nina is basically the only one who fully knows how they were built so it's very difficult for others to fix them without her orientation). The fact that her own blood and nerves runs through the bio cybernetic legs only make things worse, as blood loss can and will be a problem if left untreated. The light armor she uses on her legs offer a good protection against most 'common' threats such as piercing, slashing and even crushing wounds, to some extent.
Due to their ingenious and unique design, they are essentially part of Nina's own body, since her own nervous system is connected to her artificial legs, their removal is impossible without an incredibly complicated surgery.
Thanks to her variable chambered heart, lungs and relatively fast metabolism, especially when running, toxins, poisons and drugs are incredibly effective on her, acting and spreading much faster on her body. Lack of oxygen can also become a problem to Nina, especially on areas with too much smoke.
Truth be told, Ayita could understand why Torvi didn't trust Baraian yet. In fact, she had her own doubts about everyone there, but given the situation they were, betraying each other right now was suicide. She kept hearing in silence as Torvi and Baraian spoke with each other as Torvi handed strips of cloth for them to make a makeshift mask such as hers.
"You have my gratitude. This will surely help against this terrible smell..." Ayita said, doing the same as Torvi herself did, tying the strips of cloth into a makeshift mask.
"We were all forced into a situation were we don't have many alternatives but to cooperate if we want to live. Betrayal and infighting right now would be just suicide. Just as Torvi said, we should support each other. Once we get out of this, then we can start thinking about if we can trust each other or not. After all... It's not like we have any other options at the moment." she said. Her words, unlike Torvi's which were encouraging, were simply brutally honest.
As she finished tying the strip of cloth over her mouth and nose, which helped a lot to lessen the foul smell of the sewers and even allowed her to breathe a bit easier. Turning to Torvi, Ayita nodded, thanking her in silence.
"Funny... I once met a demon who said something similar." Ayita said, turning to Baraian with a half smile.
"Demons aren't trustworthy. They lie, deceive and scheme, but if there is one thing you can have absolute trust about a demon is on their hatred." she said with a chuckle, remembering about Inori, whom was, along with Cade, one of the first people she met when she came to this world.
"I'm not sure if it's the same for dark elves but maybe you might have some demon blood in you..." she said, jokingly.
"Anyways... At least for now, the enemy of my enemy is my friend." she finished with an exhausted sigh trying to conserve as much energy as she could. She was being sure to take the best out of every second they had to rest. Now that the foul smell was lessened thanks to Torvi's makeshift mask, it made resting considerably easier.
While Myra was surprised and alarmed when she saw the strange beams of light flying in the air, together with a light elf that approached the group, going as far as hissing and growling to him as well, the moment she realized that he was killing the spiders, she immediately stopped, acknowledging he was on their side. That said, the fact that he was also trying to kill the spiders wouldn't prevent her from being a bit wary about him. Unlike the couple whom she and Mathis had camped with, she didn't know him nor had a reason to trust other than that he was killing the spiders. Still, she knew that every help would be welcome.
Despite the strange elf arriving to help them, Myra still thought that staying and fighting wasn't a really good choice and continue on a purely defensive stance, her using her tail to create a defensive perimeter around them while swiping it in the air if any spider got too close. Knowing that they were venomous, Myra didn't want to risk striking them with her tail, instead simply kept threatening them and looking back to the girl and the blonde elf that was with her while the white haired elf that had just arrived stopped fighting for a moment as he looked to the blonde elf and started making some weird gestures as he spoke in a really strange manner. The way he pointed towards the blonde elf and to his own forehead could only be interpreted by Myra as a question if his head was unharmed or something like that. Interestingly enough, the words he said seemed to suggest otherwise due to the word 'where', which Myra knew that was used when someone was searching for something.
Despite her curiosity in the weird, white haired elf, which honestly did distract Myra for a brief moment, she quickly turned her attention to the spiders once more, while keeping looking back at the blonde elf and the girl with an urgent expression, pointing away from the spiders with a clear nervousness. Thankfully, it seemed the blond elf had understood what she was frantically trying to tell them. Giving a step forward, the blonde elf aimed his bow upwards and shot a strange, shining arrow. After a brief moment, many arrows made only of light began raining down from above, striking the spiders, killing and damaging a lot of them, enough to clear them a good and safe escape route.
The very moment he yelled them to run, Myra dashed ahead, using her enhanced senses to go as far away as she could from the spiders while being careful to not go too fast to make them lose sight of her. Thanks to her enhance sense of smell, aided by her tongue which darted in and out of her mouth as she ran, she quickly steered the group away from the spiders, stopping when they were in a safe spot.
Ada was still a bit confused by all that, but she was happy to notice that the bird maid seemed to have calmed down a bit, releasing Ditzy as she gently patted her head. While the bird maid still seemed to be a bit shaken after everything, the fact that despite her silence she was letting Ada pat her did mean that she liked it, right? It was a good thing that Ada had that idea then. Ada stood there patting Rayya for a few moments more before giving her another smile and walking back to where the group was. At that moment, Ada heard Ozzy's voice just as he began to fly, noticing only now that Kira was already flying away in the distance. Understanding that he was going after Kira, Ada waved towards Ozzy, letting him know it was everything fine.
Despite the strange mood in the air, the situation seemed to be mostly solved with the bird maid already calmer and no one in immediate danger. Although both Rayya and Nero seemed to still be thinking about troublesome stuff, judging by the bird maid's silence, her eyes and how Nero was talking, it didn't seem like Ada or anyone in their group could do anything to solve those type of problems. That said, Nero did seem to be feeling bad too and maybe the same thing she did to Rayya could also help him to feel a bit better. With the idea that a smile and head pats would certainly make anyone feel better, Ada unceremoniously walked towards Nero while he was still talking and did the exact same thing as she did to the bird maid, before leaving him with a gentle smile and returning to the group, looking at them almost as if asking what they would do now.
Freyr was relieved to see that Rayya seemed to have calmed down, as she released Ditzy and the situation was defused. He didn't know if his words had any impact on the outcome or if it was all thank to Kira's outburst or maybe the words the others said but he was glad it was all over. Truth be told, for someone who wasn't that good with his own emotions, having to deal with other's emotions and such types of problems was really exhausting. Due to that, he was rather thankful that Ozzy was the one who went after Kira to talk after she flew away. Not only Freyr didn't know if he would be of much help but he felt like having to deal with Rayya and Nero was enough regarding emotional problems for him.
"A doozy indeed." Freyr said with a chuckle, agreeing with Haley as he gently hugged her as she leaned her body onto his.
"I'm... not exactly the best person to solve these kind of problems so... Yeah, it was exhausting." He said as he found comfort embracing her.
"What is important is knowing that you're fine and nothing happened to you." he said, hugging her a little bit tighter.
Still, as Nero began to talk, explaining about Rayya, how he was a Black Wolf and other things, it was clear for them that his situation was more complicated than just a small misunderstanding with Rayya. That said, there was one thing about what Nero was talking about that Freyr himself could relate to. The part about his Oaths to the Black Wolves.
"... Oaths can be dangerous, Nero. No matter how you look at them, they are but shackles to bind us to something. If you don't let go of your own past, of the oaths you made, they will make you a prisoner of your own past." he said with a rather distant tone.
"I speak this from experience. I too, had to make a choice regarding an Oath I took. Unlike you though, I made the choice to break it. Even though I lost many things by breaking this oath, I do not regret my decision for I gained much more than I lost and more importantly... I now live according to my own will. With no oaths nor my past to trap me or slow me down." he said with a discreet smile.
"While I can't be of much help regarding these matters, I hope my previous experiences might help you to make a decision. One that you will not regret in the future." he finished with a smile.
Despite the initial trouble, Karina still had hopes that everything would go well, after all, the little fight the group got themselves into right now barely made any noise and it was unlikely that anyone noticed. Unfortunately for her, her hopes would be quickly crushed when, after Chres said for them to take out the jade candles and went to open the door, met with another guard. Chres was quick though, plunging his blade to the man's throat, before he could scream. As Chres charged into the man though, both of them fell into a room with six other men. Unlike the previous situation, everyone knew that there was no escaping and the element of surprise was now, ruined.
Thinking the same as her, Týfurkh immediately charged behind Chres. Paying no mind to the noise he made, he fired his heavy crossbow with an audible sound, the heavy bolt not only punching through the armor of one of the other six that were in the room, but nailing his body on the wall before he engaged another guard, using his crossbow as a makeshift weapon. Following closely after him, Karina unsheathed her rapier as she moved around Týfurkh with agile and elegant steps, using his big body to hide her smaller frame. Suddenly appearing from behind the giant, Karina lunged towards one of the guards that was next to the one Týfurkh was attacking with his crossbow, thrusting her rapier right under the shoulder plate, where there was no armor other than the gambeson. Karina could feel her blade sliding between the guard's ribs and piercing his lungs. As she pulled the rapier off the guard's chest, she rotated her wrist along with the rapier in a fluid half circle before quickly flicking her wrist, making the rapier move in a deadly arch, with it's tip cutting the guard's throat in a flash as she gave a back step, getting out of immediate range from the guard she just attacked an any other that might be too close as she readied herself for another attack.
Mikhail heard Jandar's words in silence, although his expression clearly betrayed his feelings. Despite Jandar and Dareen being together, something somehow still happened. Knowing Fatima, he somehow had a suspicion that she willingly put herself in a situation that made it easy for Sybl to take her away. Mikhail could relate to how Jandar was feeling. If only their situation wasn't already complicated enough, it was incredibly frustrating that things kept getting wrong... Especially when Fatima was involved. She was too naive and kind for her own good... So much it was almost foolish. To trust some random stranger just because someone was wounded...
"That woman is too kind and naive for her own good... She needs to understand the situation we're in and think more about her own safety." Mikhail said with a somewhat annoyed tone.
"Somehow I'm not surprised she left of her own volition..." he finished with a cold expression.
As he continued following them, his hand was already on one of his daggers, hidden beneath his clothes. Hopefully, Fatima's luck didn't run out yet but if it did and the situation showed itself to be exactly what both Jandar and Mikhail were fearing it was... Blood would probably have to be spilled.
The moment Jandar expressed his surprise upon hearing SaDiablo's name, Mikhail couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as he looked at him.
"Fatima and Faeril... Didn't tell you about him yet, did they?" he said with a sigh. He knew very well that such news would make Jandar even more worried than he already was.
"To keep it short, one of the conditions for the old priestess to open the portal to Kaeeler was for us to take the black jeweled prince with us... and Fatima is probably the only one that could convince him and keep him under control." he said in a low tone to Jandar, explaining what was discussed back when they met with the old priestess and what he talked about with Faeril.
The moment he finished explaining it, the group saw themselves near a cliff side, following the track Dunny had picked up. According to Dunny, the trail led further down the cliff side. As he went on, explaining that he shouldn't get himself dirty, due to how steep the cliff side was, he almost slipped, ending up being grabbed by Jandar, who explained that he didn't need to go down, only tell them where exactly the track lead.
Before Dunny or Jandar could say anything though, Dareen picked up the small sceltie, putting him over her shoulder as she started going down the cliff side after commenting that there was only one way to find out what was happening.
"Be careful, Dareen! We have no idea of what is happening. This could be a trap." Mikhail said, although to no avail as Dareen had already started going down.
"I just hope that somehow, my instincts are wrong about all this..." he said with a sigh, nodding towards Jandar as he unsheathed one of his curved daggers, assuming a combat stance and putting up a sight shield as he began following Dareen down the cliff side, ready to react in case anything happened.
The spiders were approaching the group and to make things even worse, their numbers just kept increasing in a steady pace. Due to that, Myra was starting to get nervous with the situation. Fortunately, it seemed like Mathis quickly agreed with her suggestion for them to leave. Even though she didn't know if the other two would follow her suggestion, she still looked at them with an urgent expression. Her thoughts were clear when looking at her expression, she knew that they should try to run away. Fight in that situation was very, very risky for all of them.
It was then that, with a whistle, Mathis called for his horse, which came running to his encounter. The moment he lifted Myra though, she let out a squeal of surprise as she was put on the horse as she shook her head vehemently, protesting against it. Not only she didn't really need the horse, since she would easily be able to keep up with it, but as Mathis began riding away, Myra noticed that the two others didn't follow them and were left behind. Jumping away from the horse, Myra pointed towards where the couple was fighting before giving Mathis a smile and dashing away. Despite her lack of words, her smile said enough to Mathis. He should go to a safe place himself and shouldn't worry much about Myra. After all, she could easily outrun the spiders if things got too dangerous.
Getting back to where the fight was happening, much to her own surprise, Myra saw both the male and the female ready to fight, instead of trying to run away. Didn't they know that the spiders were venomous? Didn't they see the bright colors? Not only that but if they weren't careful, they could be easily overwhelmed due to the spiders' numbers and even a single scratch would be very, very bad due to the venom. Reappearing from amidst the trees, she ran towards both the girl and the guy with a surprising speed, jumping and stepping on one of the spiders before landing nearby them, taking a low, aggressive stance as she put herself in front of both of them, using her tail to form a defensive perimeter in order to try and at least slow down the spiders. Hissing and showing her teeth, claws and talons to the spiders, Myra looked behind towards both of them and pointing away from the spiders, urging them to follow her and run away.
Ylva was still curious about Finn. Since he didn't get she was a werewolf, she was curious if he was young and raised in a town or maybe recently turned instead of being born as one.
"That is good to hear. I would be offended if someone told me I seemed to be weaker than that meathead over there." Ylva said with a chuckle as Finn told her she seemed to be tougher than him.
"Regarding ladies, I don't know about the others but he won't have any luck with me. I don't usually go out with guys that can't throw a good punch themselves." she said with a chuckle.
When Finn told her that he didn't do cocaine when she tapped her nose, further confirming her idea that he either was a city wolf or recently turned, Ylva couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh, amused.
"Neither do I!" she said, still laughing a bit.
Thankfully it seemed like Finn himself was quick to notice what she really meant, feeling embarrassed as he scratched the back of his head. It didn't take much for Finn to notice that Ylva was really amused, finding it genuinely funny when he told her that he didn't do cocaine. It wasn't like she was mocking or being mean to him too, as it was obvious by her tone of voice and expression.
"You're pretty 'young' aren't you? I'm Ylva. From Norway by the way." she said with a half smile as she gave another sip on her drink. Judging by the way how Ylva used the phrase 'young' to describe Finn, she didn't meant his age when she said that.
When the wine haired woman began talking, Ylva turned towards her, paying attention as she mentioned the last time she had Akevitt, which made Ylva somewhat surprised. Normally, not many people knew or were fans of Akevitt. Upon the mention of the marriage of one of her Swedish friend made her laugh, especially when she mentioned the hangover.
"It does sound a lot like a typical Nordic marriage! That brings good memories." Ylva said with a laugh.
While Ylva was a bit wary regarding the woman, judging by her body movements and posture, she didn't seem to want any troubles, which made Ylva visibly more relaxed.
Strangely enough, despite the regal and 'classy' feel the wine haired woman had, she did seem to be exactly the type of person Ylva herself would get along with. The moment she made the small analogy of a 'dog-eating-dog' world to indicate she was one of her kin, Ylva looked to her with a surprised expression and a smile. Strangely enough, the woman herself could easily notice that her surprised expression wasn't due to her knowing she was also a werewolf but due to the expression she used to convey that.
"Hah! That's a good one. Never heard that one before." Ylva said with a chuckle and a small laugh, clearly referring how she used the 'dog-eating-dog' expression to convey what she really was.
"That is indeed a surprise. We have more things in common than I previously thought. Just like our little troublemaker over there said, I'm also far from being a local. I came from Norway, by the way. In case my choice of drink, name and accent didn't make it obvious already." she said with a chuckle, looking to Finn with a teasing grin.
"I'm Ylva Asulf." she said, mentioning her entire name while observing how the woman would react, just to see if she knew her clan or not.
"Cheers to that. My people always had a saying that there is no better way to know someone than a drink or a fistfight!" she said with a hearty laugh.
"Humanity takes great pride in three things. Their willpower, their greed and their mortality.
Their will and endless greed allows them to grow and accend past other creatures
But their mortality denies them divinity
It's a delightful purgatory between being Fallen and being Divine"
