With Joel free and at her side, she became slightly less tense. Yeah her friend and partner were safe now but the fact that someone in the group was willing to restrain one of their own without hesitation, Luthor showing pretty much no emotion when he made Sarah disappear which didn’t sit well with her, and the armed guards around the room was enough to make her still tense. “When aren’t we ready for one?”
Now that he was free, they had to decide on a team to go on. Strike was clearly out, that group was very much full and they weren’t mainly fighters so the only two options they had were tactical and information. Information definitely needed some members and they weren’t strangers at attempting to get information but if they wanted to do things like they did back home, tactical sounded like a good idea.
After thinking on it, she came to an answer. “We’ll be going with the tactical group.”
"Well, seems someone has to put a naughty boy in his place." Bayonetta chirped as the group split themselves into teams, standing near the group that'd called themselves Strike Team. Though she was a woman of many talents, perhaps it'd be better to leave the punishments to those who had the stamina for them. It seemed she was far from alone on strike team, with a good number of the group deciding they'd be better left to actually fighting Superman than planning things out. Including a white-haired woman who seemed to....recognize her? Well, it wouldn't be the first time someone with white hair had done something like this. "A fan? I suppose my work doesn't go unnoticed after all." She purred in response, though if said woman were to look at Bayonetta's face, she'd see that her smile had sunken a little. That tone didn't seem like the voice of someone seeing someone she admired, no. It sounded like greeting someone she knew. And here she'd thought she'd left the memory troubles back home. Well, people always seemed to overpack for their trips, didn't they? The white-haired woman seemed to content herself with asking another member of the group on what team they'd find themselves with, leaving the Umbra Witch to ponder that alongside the dark-haired man who'd claimed to be an angel. He...certainly didn't look like any member of the Laguna she'd ever met, besides the shape-shifting seraphim that'd called themselves Joy. But Joy weren't winged as far as she knew, and any tell of angels that'd managed to slip out of Purgatorio was lost on her. Perhaps she was overthinking this. She'd seen things happen in this office alone that escaped anything a witch, a sage, an infernal, or even anything beneath the umbrella of the Laguna could do. Wherever these people had come from, perhaps some of those places didn't have angels quite as ugly and unpleasant as the ones she'd put out of their misery. It didn't mean she'd completely take this man at his word straight away, or even take her eyes off granted what he claimed was true, but it would be the conclusion she stuck to for now. It seemed that was the type of compromise she often had to make in her line of work, didn't it? Nonetheless, it'd be for the best that she wasn't a complete stranger to the ones she'd be fighting alongside. "Have you seen the pigs flying today? I seem to have finally met an angel I'm not at odds with." She piped towards Lucifer, initiating conversation in between the repetitive clicks from her heels as she approached him.
After the group was finally let out of their cage, they met the boss of Lexcorp himself - Lex Luthor. After some interrogation, it was revealed that the purpose of being here is to defeat the hero known as Superman, who has allegedly gone rogue and randomly begun to attack civilians. If they refuse? Then they won't be getting home any time soon.
Lex merely sat back and watched as the group divided up into teams. He didn't care about the methods they used to take out Superman. It was clear that he just wanted him gone. There were some brief arguments, sure, but those seemed to be dispelled just as soon as they arose. For the most part, the group seemed more than willing to cooperate. He did, however, give a nod in response to Voss' words.
"Theoretically, yes."
And then, he shifted his gaze to Schezo, and once again his annoyed slight-scowl returned. His brow furrowed as the boy spoke, before he gave his own response, "Superman isn't exactly found easily. He flies at speeds faster than a speeding bullet, and has been all over the place lately with his chaos. From the East Coast to Japan..." Lex shrugged, "But ultimately, finding him won't be any issue..." Lex paused, then, and proceeded to lean forward, both arms resting on his desk as he did so.
"He'll make sure to find you first."
And then Lilith approached him, and he shot her a look. "Yes, because she really looks like she's being held against her will in front of that TV." He rolled his eyes. Moments later, A.M.A.Z.O. entered the room, and Lex smiled. "Ah, I was wondering when you'd get here," Lex proceeded to gesture toward the tall figure. "Everyone, this is A.M.A.Z.O. He'll be accompanying you on your expedition." His smile disappeared into his more neutral expression as Ciri and Tess both asked about Superman's powers and weaknesses. "I have already been over all of his powers. The only notable weakness Superman possesses is Kryptonite. It's an extremely rare artifact that weakens him and his powers when he's near it..." Lex sighed. "Unfortunately, we used the last of it a while ago in our fight against him... which is why we resulted to bringing you all here."
"As I said before, you all have a reason for being here. The abilities each of you possess are extraordinary in their own right." Lex gave a single, firm nod. "When used in tandem with each other, Superman won't even be-"
BOOOOM!!!
A sudden explosion rang out from one of the nearby buildings. Although it wasn't inside of LexCorp itself, it was more than enough to shake it at its foundation - and maybe even knock some of you off your feet. It didn't take very long for some of you to realize just what had happened. Not very far from LexCorp at all, the explosion could very clearly be seen. A few buildings were obscuring the view, but the picture was as clear as day: the entire top half of a building had outright exploded!
And in front of it, the very faint sight of a floating figure could be seen. And attached to that figure was a very familiar looking red cape. The figure remained in place for a moment, seeming to look down on the building itself, before flying off to the other side of the building.
"That's him!" Lex shouted as he suddenly stood up out of his chair and witnessing the sight with a look of horror mixed with anger on his face. "That's Superman!" Lex turned to all of you, then, and began to motion toward the door. "Go and take care of him, now! Before more people are hurt!"
Whether you liked it or not, soon enough you'd left the building. If not willingly, you were simply escorted by LexCorp's surprisingly beefy security. Plenty of people were running out on the street, entirely away from the destroyed building. At least made things easy to track.
After following the sounds and sights of fleeing civilians, and the distinct smell of smoke, it was made pretty obvious where the sight of the building was. The tall burning building stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of the street. Plenty of civilians had managed to escape and were currently running for their lives - past all of you, of course. But there were plenty of sounds coming from the rapidly collapsing building itself. Anguished screams and cries, as well as violently loud bursts of coughing from what seemed to be the upper floors. Sounds of furniture toppling and floors collapsing from within could be heard as well.
But worst of all? Superman was nowhere to be found.
"He's gotta be near the top," Joel said through squinted eyes as he looked up, trying to get a good read on the situation. "We ain't got long before the whole damn place collapses. C'mon!"
Without another word, Joel rushed in through the open door with his gun in hand. Right into what seemed to be hell itself.
Negan, meanwhile, pursed his lips together as he stood in the back. "Well shit," Negan bounced on his knees a bit while gripping Lucille. He didn't seem to be anywhere near as battle ready as Joel was. Eventually, he turned to Otto, "Well, leader man," Negan said, his tone dripping with fatigued, condensed sarcasm. "Ya got any more 'brilliant plans' to pull outta y'er ass?"
A woman had approached him and mentioned something about being at the throats of angels, though seemingly knowing he wasn't one of those. Perhaps those angels looked different, less human maybe. Then again he had to have some form humans could look at and admire, he was the most handsome of them all. At least, thats what the lore is. But speaking of admiring, the woman was quite the looker herself. Lucifer couldn't help but look her over tastefully, eyes going back to her face as he held a hand out to greet her.
"Goodness me, I must compliment you on your style my dear. You clearly know what suits you! The names Lucifer Morningstar, The Devil at your service. I do look forward to working with you, I must reinforce that I'm no angel you know of. Multiverse things you know?"
Had she taken and shook his hand Lucifer would pull it back after, listening intently to this possible new pal. She was quite the looker, though he wasn't looking at her with any gutter brain. He simply enjoyed the fact someone else had such good care for their reputation like he did, clearly a woman who could take care of more than just herself. He barely knew her, but he did know that aura around her. The confidence strong enough to smite God himself, an elegance that would make even the most stoic of angels look her way. At least in his eyes, but what does he know? He's just the king of hell after all!
Unfortunately there would be no time for further greetings, the building shaking to its core from their target. Within moments they were all rushed out of the building, no planning what so ever. Not exactly the kind of show down he was expecting, but he wasn't even surprised. If course it would go like this, it would be rude not to interrupt!
"Fuck- I'll go up there to see where he is. That prick isn't the only one who's fast in the air!"
Wings popped out of the devil's back, feathers gleaming from the light. With a single flap he shot into the sky in seconds, disappearing up into the smoke and dust of the collapsed building. As much as he would love to help with the people, showing his wings to them was a massive no no.
Glancing over at who stood next to him, Cloud remained stoic as ever. The man did ask what else he could do, so what better than to show him? With a wave of his hand he had cast a low tier lightning on Cole, smirking to himself slightly. He didn't want to actually hurt the guy, he could just dodge it- probably. Even if it hit, it wouldn't cause too much damage he assumed. The man uses lightning, worst case scenario he absorbs it.
"That answer your question?"
Cloud looked away, crossing his arms and avoiding eye contact. Of course he could do more, his ability to hit Superman with his sword didn't really matter. There were other ways to do it, plus no one was immune to swords. Not his at least, not when he could actually hit Sephiroth with it. He would be fine, if worse comes to worse he can just use his sword to block. If he could get Sephiroth to actually help his ass maybe they would have this in the bag, the issue was getting the other to even want to help. He's not exactly someone anyone could bat their eyes at and beg oh so sweet at until he helped, you just had to get lucky. Was Cloud feeling lucky? Not really.
"I got more than that if you need a better demonstration. "
A sudden shake of the building sent Cloud stumbling, looking out at the culprit. Talk about timing, the merc had a feeling this wasn't just a coincidence. Either way there wasn't time to think on that, having to rush down and out of the office only for their hero gone sour to leave as fast as he had appeared. The building currently in the process of collapsing clearly wasn't stable enough to go up, he had to find another to scale to get to a better vantage point. With his hesitation on what to do he might find someone to follow at this rate.
Otto managed to brace for the explosion, and looked at Negan. “As a matter of fact, I do.” Spider Man then proceeded begin scaling the wall, calling out all the while.
“ANYONE CAPABLE OF HIGH JUMPS, FLIGHT, OR WALL CRAWLING HEAD OUT THROUGH THE WINDOW INSTEAD OF GOING UP THE STAIRS! TRY TO CARRY UP ANYONE YOU CAN! HE WON’T EXPECT A TWO PRONGED ASSAULT, AND THE HEAVY HITTERS WILL BE THERE TO OCCUPY HIM WHILE SUPPORT COMES IN!” With that, Otto shot webs at the any already broken windows so that those who could crawl out of the top floors would be able to. Following that, he began webbing up any raised areas he could to make a safety net. Finally, he began yelling to all the floors he could as he climbed up. “CIVILIANS, THERE IS NOW A NET FOR YOU TO ESCAPE INTO! BAIL OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, THERE ARE PERSONNEL WAITING TO ASSIST YOU!”
With that, Spider Man jumped off of the wall for speed before shooting up on another strand of web, trying to reach the top as fast as possible now that the civilians knew it was safe to jump out. Octavius wasn’t used to having all of these movement options, but he would be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy them. No wonder Parker was always in a perennial good mood. Swinging from webs was entertaining!
"Alright, go, go! We've got this under control!" Grey shouts as he helps herd civilians past the team. "Go and hide! We'll get everyone out of the building! Don't worry!" The fox turns back to the burning building with a serious look in his eyes, the orange tint of the flames reflecting off the visor. He then looks back at the rest of the people Lex had assembled. "I'm going in to rescue as many of the residents as I can. I'll catch up with the rest of you soon."
His blue sword forming in his hands, Grey dashes inside after Joel, using his sword to slice apart any rubble in his way and remaining vigilant for the first disgruntled civilian he might come across.
…well, the Hunter would have continued standing about, waiting for the action to finally start after all this time doing nothing, because honestly, this lack of actually doing something to begin hunting down this ‘Superman’ was a bit boring. Yadda yadda yadda, Bald man spoke about how ‘indestructible’ and ‘dangerous’ this man was, said some words that weren’t even menacing (at least to him) in the first place, but one thing that did caught his attention was this so called ‘Kryptonite’, heh, seems like this man wasn’t as invincible as they say. Unfortunately, Lex here didn’t have any left after a particular fight, and as such, relied on the aid of complete strangers to do what he couldn’t. Well, he couldn’t wait to prove this man wrong.
Although, he didn’t expect the very man they were gonna hunt for, to go on the offensive, and cause a ‘little’ property damage nearby. Heh, getting interesting already. Looks like there wasn’t more time to wait, and without much word, quickly made his way out of the building to go and deal with this man. After reaching outside, the Hunter merely brushed some of the civilians that got a bit to close, although, did little to stop this ‘Chosen’ from getting to his target destination. Aw, it looks like Superman had already set up the ‘welcoming party’ already for them. Can’t keep him waiting for too long now.
And looking around, it seems like his ‘comrades’ were already recklessly charging in, either to save some civilians from the fire, or to face the threat head on. Well, he couldn’t stop people from rushing into the burning building now… if they got stuck underneath a burning piece of rubble, that was just natural selection working at this point.
The Chosen Hunter then turned to face the others nearby, and well, what’s wrong with a lil ‘charity’ for the unfortunate ones unable to reach the rooftop as fast as they can. Saying out loud, the Hunter said with a grin “Well, it seems like ole Superman decided to throw a ‘welcoming party’ for us, how kind of him to do so. And it would be rather rude not to attend, so, might as well not keeping him waiting for much longer. Although, if you wanna play hero instead, and go and rescues the unfortunate souls in that building, be my guest, but if you wanna make sure that more lives wouldn’t be at risk of dying if we allow this ‘Superzero’ to continue rampaging around unless we hit him hard here and now, then I’ve got an idea. For those of you unfortunate enough to have a way up quickly enough the hunter said, with a small chuckle being put out as well before continuing. “I have a special little ability… allows me to ‘teleport’ around. Neat thing is that I can bring others with me along for the ride as well. Of course, can’t bring everyone now, but I can bring two of you with me, four if personal space isn’t your thing. Now, if you do want the quickest way up there, do approach now. Don’t worry, it’ll feel funny at first, but your organs would definitely be all in the right places. The Hunter finished, offering a chance up to the rooftop for anyone who wishes to do so.
As everyone formed teams to combat the supposed alien threat, Sougo glanced at Luthor one more time--for someone who's supposed to be a concerned party, he seemed...Lax. Regardless, he didn't exactly have the time to chat with his new team as suddenly--a nearby building shook with a mighty explosion! At its epicenter was a floating figure, donning a bright red cape. A sinister S adorned its chest, its insignia--his symbol.
Superman.
Luthor then stood, seeing his sworn enemy fly away to destroy more.
"Right. Let's go!" Sougo nodded, soon taking out a white buckle with two jutting slots on it. He attached it onto his waist, a belt wrapping tightly around his body with a loud 'ZIKU DRIVER!'.
Led out of Luthor's company building, it's obvious to see how much terror Superman's doing. People running around in a panic--the building that blew up appeared to be on fire, too. Smoke rising through broken windows. There's still people in there!
It was there that the Emissary of Hell gave his next instruction--all those who can scale the building from the outside, do so and catch the civilians.
"Copy that! Beginning mission!" Penny nodded, as she started floating. Green flame spewing out of her soles as her long orange hair shook in the wind. It's then that she flew around the building, ascending bit by bit as she carefully inspected each window to ensure that no man was left stranded. Whenever she found one, she'd hold them in her arms until she reached the top.
ZI-O! WIZARD!
Sougo, meanwhile, had decided to go inside and save those he can with the safety net now in place. He needed to suit up before going, though, and took out two pocketwatches of sorts, its faces appeared to be visors of mechanical helmets. One spelling RIDER in katakana while the other was simply a red gemstone of some kind.
Sougo shoved the watches on both ends of the Ziku Driver before pressing the top crown, causing the device to shift in weight on the Zi-O side. A giant clock face manifested behind Sougo, spinning counterclockwise as Sougo stretched his arms on his rightside before uttering that word once more.
"Henshin!" Sougo shouted, flicking his hands as his left arm turned, making the Driver spin with his hand. The clock behind him quickly shifted, rotating clockwise as its hand spun back wildly before stopping on a 12. A Grandfather's clock chimed as pink katakana spelling 'RIDER' appeared on the face, the hands now pointing on 2 and 10, long and short hands respectively.
RIDER TIME! KAMEN RIDER! ZI-O~
The clock broke apart as vintage watch-strap like rings formed around Sougo, orbiting around the young King as his suit manifested on his body. The pink letters shrinking and forming the visors on the clock-rider's face.
ARMOR TIME! PLEASE! WI!ZAR~D!
The Driver announced as Sougo rushed into the building with the others, a magic circle above the king, following him. As it came down on Zi-O, the magic circle transformed into a mechanical looking chestpiece, changing Zi-O's headplate to match the gemstone-like visor seen in the Wizardwatch. In this armor, Zi-O is granted Magical powers. From using Magic Circles as shields and portals, to creating magical binds and enlargening body parts. However, while he can only use pyrokinesis as a base, he can shout out other elemental spells--mostly the special rings like Lightning and Blizzard.
He worked alongside an anthropomorphic grey wolf with a blue sword of flames, with Sougo merely punching through the falling rubble instead.
Cloud would find that, luckily, there were plenty of nearby, non-burning buildings that he could indeed scale if he so wished.
Otto's makeshift safety net was enough to encourage the civilians to go ahead and jump from the building. One by one (some in groups), they all jumped out of one of the many shattered holes that used to be windows, only to safely land on the net and run off. But from both Otto, Penny's, and Lucifer's respective vantage point, they could still hear muffled screams and coughs from within. There were still very clearly people trapped inside.
On Grey's and Sougo's side of things, they would find a woman with one of her legs trapped under a pretty heavy piece of rubble. She was crying and screaming and writhing underneath the mass, while Joel was there trying to lift it off of her.
"Nnngh..." Joel grunted, before looking over to the pair. "G-gimme a hand with this thing, will ya!?"
"Stand back!" Sougo says, raising his hand to the side as a magic circle appeared in front of him. "Big, please!" He chanted out as he put his arm through the circle, coming out as a giant fucking arm on the other side. This arm would easily lift the boulder, allowing the trapped girl to move as Sougo strained to hold it up. Even though his arm's now big, a boulder is still a boulder. Crushing it would risk her, too, so doing this should be enough for now.
Grey wastes no time and dispels his sword as he steps up beside Joel. While Sougo helps to lift the rubble, he stoops low and carefully begins to pull the lady out, carrying her gently in his arms.
That was when Superman struck and all had to leave.
"It's time to give Superman a super-duper beatdown!"
Ben rushes out and smacks his Omnitrix down.
"Going hero!"
His body morphed, his clothes adapting as he was covered in a black, rubbery substance.
"Who the heck is this guy? This doesn't look like XLR8 at all!"
Ben's new form shrugged as he continued running towards the source of the danger.
"Good luck, wolf guy!" this form said, "take 'em as far away from this place as possible! I'll see if I can join you once I have the chance to dial another alien!"
The situation kept on moving, with the retired hero adding to his own input... Hershel had a high opinion of the veteran by this point. The registering continued, Ultron seemed to grow more cooperative, and their teams kept on swelling with numbers one by one.
Their situation was progressing steadily on the organizational matter, only aided by the further bits of information given by Lex, the matter on kryptonite also noted down on the few sheets of paper the cleric had been using so far before their uncertain peace was suddenly broken by an earth-shaking explosion rocking the entire building. Hershel flinched for a moment before gripping onto the counter, slightly denting it at the abrupt reaction from the ruler. Once the movement had stopped, the duke quickly pocketed his supplies before they were abruptly pushed out by the guards, running a variety of scenarios in his head as to what he could do and what the other people involved can do.
Once outside, some people were hesitating, others already took flight, and the one in their spider-inspired suit started taking swift action and giving orders. The cleric took one deep breath while his eyes fluttered closed, a sigh escaping his lips before his view locked onto the crumbling building, then his watch.
Dialing an emergency call to everyone who possess one of the gadgets, his voice boomed with stern seriousness.
"Follow the already mentioned guidelines, those that can fight go fight through the exterior of the building breaking walls or jumping or whatever you can to approach areas that could be cut-off by the crumbling, those that are able to, go and rescue as many and leave them a safe distance away from the crumbling building. I'll be securing a safe site some couple dozen meters away to do first aid and healing, bring injured people to me and anyone that specializes in such matters, come to me, Hershel out!" Closing the call from his watch, he stepped strongly on the ground, denting it slightly while calculating the safe distance once the whole piece of concrete collapsed.
Once finding an open street area without too many cars, the cleric would flex his muscles after sharing his location through the watch and lifted up some of the empty vehicles one by one from the bottom, placing them as the base of improvised barricades facing towards the disaster site, leaving one two-people wide opening between the vehicles in the middle. Thickening this line with more cars and anything he could find within his bag, next up the duke placed thick pieces of long fabric in the areas behind the improvised walls, cushioning for anyone fainted. Wiping the sweat off his brow, he placed some first aid supplies in his person (bandages, pure alcohol, some basic splints) within a pair of crates, everything he could muster which could be used to treat a small battallion. @ anyone in the disaster site, there is now a place to lead rescues and injured towards
Thanks to the combined efforts of Grey, Joel, and especially Sougo, the giant slab of rubble was successfully lifted from the woman's leg.
"Th-thank you!" she thanked tearfully, before running out of the building.
"Thanks," Joel said to both Grey and Sougo with a nod and a few heavy breaths. With nothing more to say, the man turned and headed deeper into the building, clearly expecting the other two (and anyone else who was there) to follow.
Scarcely had Yoshikage Kira polished off his drink before this 'Superman' made his presence flagrantly known to all involved, careening into a nearby building and bringing enough calamity for all to enjoy in his wake. Kira was relatively unperturbed, in comparison to all others involved; the battle was already lost if they could not keep their heads under pressure, and so, while the rest of them crammed themselves into the elevator like a horde of customers on Black Friday eagerly awaiting their next meaningless price gouge, Kira sidled over to the table and set down his glass, turning it in his hand so it best caught the evening light. Once that was finished, he proceeded to Mr. Luthor - a rapport was necessary, of course, if he was to avoid the watchful eyes of those who would disrupt his sleep. A reassuring hand on Mr. Luthor's shoulder and an encouraging word "I'm sure you're in capable hands, Mr. Luthor. You needn't worry." was all he could stomach before he felt bile rising in his throat and hurried toward the elevator.
Kira stepped outside the building later than most others, squinting and holding a sleeve up to his mouth to avoid inhaling any smoke. He would have to approach this carefully, if he was to come out alive - and if all of the others rushing toward the disaster were being honest with themselves, they would likely have approached the situation just the same. Still, there was no time to ruminate upon lost causes. Noticing that most of them were busy with the building's front, Kira instead turned to the back, walking around the building and to the fire escape. A firm tug on the handle showed that it was closed, shut tight, and so Kira willed Killer Queen into action. His Stand delivered one firm underarm strike to the door, center mass, and it flew off its hinges with a firm dent put in its red metal finish. As Killer Queen dematerialised, Kira peered into the now open doorway, squinting and scanning the hallway for any signs of life with a surgeon's precision.
Sougo dropped the boulder and withdrew his arm from the circle as the girl was freed and ran out of the building. He nodded at the survivor as they moved deeper into the building, bracing themselves for more rescues and of course, the fight of their lives.
Hearing the coughs of those trapped within, Penny would approach the one that was the nearest, attempting to use infrared vision to detect human heat signatures within the building.
For a brief moment, his face morphs into Penny's, then back into his.
A.M.A.Z.O. approached her, before saying, "you seem to be doing something to help these people. How does it... work? I would like to help by doing the same."
The fox smiles happily as he sees the woman run outside, a feeling of comfort coming over his chest. But then he turns back to Joel and Sougo, his expression turning serious once again. He sprints after the two, his sword appearing in his hands once more.
Uh oh, looks like Lex overheard Grey and Lilith's conversation, saying that Sarah TOTALLY looked be held against her will on that tv. "O-Oh uh, right sure, I guess." She said caught off guard, This was also taken in account for Shantae as she gave Lex a annoyed look after he said this. Lex then noted that silver android that was present and introduces him as A.M.A.Z.O. and says that he will be accompanying you on their expedition, as she heard this Lilith looked up at him ang greeted him with an awkward smile. "Uh...yeah, good to see you." She says before slowly floating back towards Shantae.
Now to shift the topic! With everyone forming teams this whole time Lilith kind of thought that she should've teamed up with someone by now, there were a few problems however, she didn't really know who to team up with and that combined with her introverted nature so there was kind of one good option she had, and that was teaming up with Shantae. "Hey Shantae?" Lilith said waving over to her for a bit, she took note of this and went over to her. "Hey Lilith, so who do you want to team up with?" Shantae asked curiously, wondering who the two would group up with, but Lilith was kind of wishing she wouldn't ask this though since, y'know. "Oh right, about that."
"I kind of want to work in pairs, I know we should work in bigger numbers and all but I just wanted to team with you since...well...you're kind of the only person I warmed up to enough." Shantae thought about it for a bit, it's true that Lilith and Shantae gotten very used to each other by now so she thought that there wasn't too much harm in doing so, the two could hold their own together as well. So she nodded her head and agreed to the suggestion. "I guess that doesn't sound too bad, if that's what you want to do then I'm not complaining!" She says in agreement, meanwhile Lilith let out a sigh of relief and formed a smile, which was rare to see for her "Good, I'm glad you could understand."
And now everyone was ready to fight back against Superman and/or protect the innocents, while the two were ready to protect some of the civilians. First Lilith, she rushed over to some of the people in danger and formed a protective shield around them. "Don't worry, this'll keep you safe! I know what I'm doing." She said as she then looked over to some of the other people inside and rush over to save them as well, with Shantae following behind and the shield still being up.
The two then found a group of people who helped a injured woman. "Oh hey." Lilith said out of breath. "Good to see you guys again."
Kira would find that a blonde woman was in the fire escape, rushing out with what seemed to have been a purse strapped to her shoulder. Had Joel, Grey, or Sougo been here, they'd have recognized her as the woman they'd saved from the rubble earlier. She stopped in her tracks when facing Kira, appearing nervous, though also confused.
"Umm... sir? Can you please move?" She asked, before hurriedly trying to shove past him. This area remained largely untouched by the fire, but that could easily change at any moment.
As those who rushed into the building itself began to clear the various rooms out, they would find that progressively, things began to clear up more and more. The building was a lot longer than it looked, with a multitude of doors that Joel and the others were pushing through. With each passing room, the rubble seemed to begin clearing itself up more and more. The rooms progressively became nicer to look at as well. The fires were all gone, and the panicked civilians weren't anywhere in sight.
Eventually, the group reached one long, seemingly endless hallway. Joel stopped in place and began to look around, clearly confused by... whatever was going on.
"H'oookay..." Joel muttered to himself, before glancing back to the others. "Dunno about you guys, but this does not seem like a destroyed buildin' to me."
And then, before anyone could get a response in, manic laughter could be heard.
"Ohohohoho!!!"
"You're not in THAT place anymore! No no, it was such a bore, such a bore!"
Joel's grip on his gun tightened as he turned around, holding it out and aiming for wherever the voice came from. "Yeah? Well why don't ya tell us where the fuck we are, then!?" he shouted angrily. The voice only laughed again.
"Oh, why don't you come forth and see? I'm sure it'll fill you all with such glee..."
Grunting, Joel looked back to the others, before hesitantly beginning to make his way down the hall.
