Hello and welcome to ArcRift! We're a new Multifandom RP with an equal focus on sandbox as well as linear story! This is achieved by using both the IC and OOC threads as RP thread - with one focusing on the sandbox, and the other focusing on the linear plot. You can participate in one, the other, or both! The choice is yours! These threads will converge at multiple points, as well as have lasting affects on each other! Because of this fact, it is necessary to join our Discord for OOC Updates and chatter. Also, your Character sheets will be posted in the Characters tab, as this OOC tab will be reserved for the Sandbox RP going forward. And yes, the Sandbox RP will have quests to tie everything together - but interaction is encouraged!

So, let's talk mechanics!

In both RPs, characters will be handed these nifty little items called Stop-N-Watches! These will allow you to swap out your characters between threads with one of your own - or someone else's - at any point in the RP! However, in the event that the latter case happens, both players must consent before doing so. ICly, your characters will know how these are one way or the other. Sandbox it's up to you (don't get meta gamey with it), but in the linear thread it'll be explained to them.

Each Arc will ideally last anywhere from one month to a few months total, should no unexpected irl circumstances occur. Sign-Ups will be open for One Week following the release of the Main Story thread, and after that they'll be closed until the next Arc rolls around.

Arc 1

The Watchful Eyes

Main Story

You awake in what seems to be a massive office space. It's pretty fancy - and filled to the brim with trinkets and expensive furniture alike. A bright and clear sunny sky could be seen from the large window in front of you. Said sun happened to be shining into the room itself, right down towards a bald man, who sat at a large desk across from you.



"Greetings. I am Lex Luthor. You don't know it yet, but you've been brought here for a reason."

"The reason being? I require your aid."

Sandbox

You will be allowed two different starting locations for this first Arc!

Gotham City

Gotham City. The city with the largest crime rate in the world. It's always dark and bleak here - and for good reason. One of the first things you heard upon waking up was gunfire. Or maybe it was manic laughter behind an alleyway's corner? Whatever it was - you knew immediately that this was a hellhole.

Metropolis

Metropolis is the mirror of Gotham City in just about every way. It's always bright and sunny, and crime is a rarity here. Makes sense for the town known most for being Superman's home turf! If you want something more bright and cheerful, then this is the place for you!

You may start out at these locations wherever you'd like. Wanna say that your character just woke up on the streets of Gotham? Go ahead! Wanna instead say that you've been here for a few months, and are now a freelance reporter for the Daily Planet? Go for it! The world is your oyster - and as long as you don't go overboard (or play NPCs without permission from someone on Council), then you can go wild! Just keep in mind that all characters woke up with the Stop-n-Watches already attached to their wrists. And if they just woke up, then they wouldn't know what they are or how they work. If your character's been here a while, however, then they're allowed to know. Just don't get too meta-gamey with it.

"I just wanted to make them happy."

"Why can't I make anyone happy?"

Those were Saibh's last words before blacking out.

And next thing she knew, the horned monster woke up to the blaring of car horns, commotion coming around and about. She jolted once she realized this was real - no dreaming whatsoever, no hallucinations, all of this was genuine. Saibh's eyes darted around just as quickly as she had gotten up. The flower eater looked around, inexpressive outwardly, but panicked inwardly. The most she showed was heavy breathing and slightly widened eyes, continuing to look around.

God, what- what in damnation- what was going on? Where was Maris, where was home, where was she, where- augh, Saibh couldn't wrap her head around it! So many questions running through her mind, so many worries - why was this happening to her of all people? Some sort of punishment for taking away such good things from her customers?

Whatever it was, she frankly had no idea. And Saibh really wished that she did have some sort of clue. It could make things easier to understand, at least.

And wouldn't you know it - Saibh's inner monologue of self deprecation was soon interrupted by a soft thump from a nearby rooftop. Should the girl turn, though, she'd find that... well! No one was there. Weird. Maybe it was a raccoon or an animal or something?

Oh, nope! There it was again. This time closer, and more ground level. It sounded like something had knocked against the dumpster right behind her. But when she turned... well! There was nothing there yet again. Was someone messing with her? Or were there just a lot of noisy animals out tonight?

Only one way to find out!

Unfortunately, this was not a poor, defenseless animal that Saibh could kill and eat. But it was a living being, as was soon revealed. A human - to be exact. A human woman... to be uh- more exact.



The woman in question was tall and rather slim. She was clad in pretty form-fitting armor, which was only partially covered by a mini-leather jacket. A pretty stuffy looking belt wrapped around her hips, while simultaneously holding up her pants. But perhaps the most noticeable thing (besides her pretty rad hair) was the blue mask - which matched the color scheme of the rest of her outfit.

"Yo," girl said as she approached while holding up both hands. She didn't seem to be armed, nor posing much of a threat. She was up on the fire escape above Saibh, legs dangling below. It seemed like they probably led into some rundown apartment of sorts. She had a rather casual smile on her face - friendly, even. "You do know that creepin' around dark alleyways is like... the absolute dumbest thing you could do at this time of night, right? 'specially in The Narrows."

One second, she was laying herself to sleep in the depth of the underground she called home, giving herself a night's rest. The next second she had fallen asleep, and several hours later she had awoken into a land she didn't even know existed. Is this what the world above was truly like? So bright, so expansive - and honestly quite daunting? Hameln's jaw practically dropped at the sight of these enormous buildings and the bright lights coming from all around her - though she seemed to be in some kind of central for wherever here was.

"Where in the world is this?!" She blurted aloud to herself with audible stress and confusion. The world she knew was nothing like this, as far as she was aware - so to say this wasn't overwhelming is a complete and utter lie! Though it seemed she had been sleeping on the cold ground for a short period of time, Hameln now rose to her feet - still with her sword and shield in her hands and her instrument held comfortably near her side, in a suspended brown bag - practically locked to her clothes.

"At least I didn't lose anything of mine... that's good..." With a sigh after gathering her belongings, Hameln looked around her - for anything of interest at all, and whether or not she found anything at all was up to sheer luck. "Is this one of those alternate realities or worlds I read about? There's no way, it's literally in the pages - they can't be real! Surely!" Though Hameln mused to herself about her situation, she would not realise the 'pages' she were referencing were not with her. She had no grounds to back her up - and though she read about what she claimed to from within them, this is far from what she was expecting. Reading them was one thing, but experiencing them? Not only did she doubt it, she thought it was impossible. With her mind working to solve her questions and doubts, Hameln now attempted to explore her nearby area.

Another chilly morning in Metropolis, and the Daily Planet's new journalist was loitering around the entrance of the building, leaning against the wall next to a set of stairs. The brown haired man, dressed in a dark grey shirt and brown jeans, had a newspaper in his hand. He had gotten this newspaper just seconds ago, and his eyes gazed across the lines. He had written a couple of sections himself, and though he had read those segments time and time again, he couldn't help but read them both again. Call it pride, but he couldn't help but notice that his own writings were leagues above those of his associates. He put heart and soul into these words, even as dull as the topics were, and even with tales of superhumans and monsters, his peers couldn't reach the level of dedication that he could.

But that's besides the point, isn't it?

He enjoyed his work, and he could hardly contain his excitement at the thought of continuing his habit of creating his own stories. However, he knew he had to wait. Planning was required, and he hadn't done enough of it. Though his satchel contained a notebook full of complex documentations of his coworker's daily routines, and his phone contained hundreds of pictures of locations of interest, he could not act too soon. The Ghostface would have to stay hidden, at least for now, and Jed Olsen would need to continue his career as nothing more than a humble journalist at the Daily Planet. Such a thing wasn't all bad, he was enjoying his time here, despite the circumstances of his entrance. Who knows, maybe fate has plans for him, he just has to wait.

He hadn't been here long, but it was long enough. He always had a way with interviews, and upon hearing of the Daily Planet, Danny knew he had to get in. One interview was all it took, and he had a job. Metropolis was a much more interesting city than anywhere he dreamed of visiting back home, and he couldn't lie, it was a nice change of pace.

Kevin was in the clothing department looking for clothing. "It's a good thing I got that apartment deal on 6th Avenue. Rent was good, the apartment itself is good, and it's in a good enough for when I have to 'gallivanting' across town for my duties as Nightwatch! This'll give me time to get on my feet! Even if I should've gotten a job first...But I couldn't keep sleeping on cardboard boxes. Though in truth...Everything look and even feels different here. This is New York, my home, yet...I doesn't feel like home for some reason...The atmosphere feels thicker...Darker even. Like I'm in some Lovecraft story about being stalked by an unknown presence beyond my understanding. Ready to destroy my mind the moment I try comprehending it's plausibility in reality. Then again, I've been away from home for a whole decade, so what do I know what home is supposed to feel like. I'm probably just re-adjusting" He concludes as he continues to sift through the cloths

Balileo's CS

Among the hundreds of dilapidated rooftops in Gotham lies Balieo - a large Gaoler dragon whose front half was sprawled over the edge for an indefinite amount of time. Who knows how long he's been there or even how he got there in the first place. His vestigial wings were too small to allow him flight, and he doesn't remember ever climbing up this strange structure himself. Not that he would want to. The first thing the Gaoler saw when slowly coming to were bright pathways hundreds of meters below him. He yelped as he clumsily retreated his front half toward the platform, leaving large scratch marks on the side of the tower.

Now fully awake and aware of his surroundings, he takes the time to observe his new environment. It was hard to see what was below him besides countless small dots of lights and the distant sounds of the city. There were so many, he thought. Were they stars? Were they made of magic? Were the sounds of the city actually the sounds of magic being cast? None of this was any kind of magic he was familiar with. And yet, there was no other way Balileo could explain what he was seeing. There was nothing like this back on Sornieth. He turned his attention toward the other towers, some of which were taller than the one he was on.

Was he dreaming, perhaps? The last thing he recalled was that Jaldrid invaded his father's hold and brought so many Banescales with him. They all flew around, occasionally diving toward the Gaolers and the Tundras to claw at them like hawks. The Tundras, who are much smaller relatives to the Gaolers, were easily whisked away and thrown off the cliffs on which the Hold was founded upon... Balileo was grateful that their bodies were masked by thick clouds of snow and ice before they hit the ground. Now that he thinks about it, there seems to be a similar fog surrounding the bottom of the alien towers.

Balileo wandered further toward the center of the rooftop, curiously tilting his head toward the strange machinery that was held there. Was the Shade responsible for this? He didn't believe they were intelligent enough to create such structures. And if they did, was this civilization made by them? He had begun to panic, as he feared that he was witnessing the result of the destruction of his world. From here on, he galloped around the rooftop in search of a way out. Or, at the very least, a way down.

QUEEN's CS

Metropolis has always been a far more peaceful place than Gotham City. I mean, sure, there was the occasional bad guy Superman and the other heroes had to pummel to death that would almost always end in immense and unnecessary damage to the city infrastructure but, hey. At least they bring Metropolis a lot of attention in the limelight. As one would expect, there is always an endless line of villains waiting for their turn in the spotlight. The QUEEN is no different, and she's liking the recognition so far. To the citizens of Metropolis strolling near Wayne Enterprises, their day so far was average at best, when the sudden shrill chortle of QUEEN cut through the tranquility.

*Ohhhhohohoho!

There she was, standing near the entrance to Wayne Enterprises, was the QUEEN of Cyber City. Of course, no one else there would know that. But she made sure to tell that to every passing "Lightner" she came across. She was proving to be irritating the citizens as those who weren't immediately afraid of her and fleeing were actively trying to walk around her. And yet, she continued to harass the bystanders as they passed by. Either QUEEN was ignorant of that fact or she chose to ignore it. Likely the former.

When she wasn't using walker-bys as her personal stepstools, QUEEN was gawking up toward the tower in awe... or disgust. Hard to tell.

This was it. The magic had been destroyed. Mina had been defeated... and soon, the entire realm of magic would collapse. Surely, anyone left here would die. It would be crazy to stay in such a place! Who would even dream of doing something so crazy??

And then... everything went black.

Marco Diaz

Location - Metropolis Park
Mood - Stressed and Confused
Status - Healthy/Unharmed

Marco awoke with a startled gasp, eyes shooting up like rockets. The sudden bright light would have normally blinded anyone waking up from an extended nap - but for one Marco Ubaldo Diaz? That hardly mattered.

The memories in his head were clear as day. They'd destroyed the magic. They'd won. Mina was gone. And... Toffee was right. That was weird! But still, despite that, they'd defeated the forces of evil once and for all!

But all victory came at a price.

The magic being destroyed would forever separate their worlds. Separate them. And... and after everything they'd been through? After defeating all those monsters together, going on all those adventures- heck, after suffering through a YEAR LONGLOVE TRIANGLE, and finally becoming a proper couple? Yeah... no. No. Marco was not about to let all of that be for nothing. They'd come this far. They belonged together. They needed each other. And Star? Well, Star had known that as much as him, apparently.

They weren't about to lose each other. Not again.

So, ignoring anyone else present in this park, the distressed Marco immediately stood up to his feet. He cupped his hands over his mouth, looking for the girl he'd fought so hard to keep. The only one who mattered right now. He didn't even care that he didn't recognize where he was - heck, that hadn't even crossed his mind yet! All that mattered was that he find Star again.

"Star???" Marco called out as he walked around. He didn't realize it, but tears were beginning to form in his eyes. His knees trembled as his calls became more desperate. "Star...??? P-please..." Now he could barely even manage to stand. There wasn't any sign of her. No big portal in the distance. No rainbows or kittens or candy... nothing. No sign of Star at all.

He was alone again.

"S-Star..." Marco sniffled as he fell to his knees, unable to hold back the tears. Not that he even wanted to. Not now.



Soon enough, he'd fallen to his knees. His heart was thumping in his chest. And all he could manage were soft sobs as the reality of how things were soon hit him.

"Goodbye, Star..."
